Festetics Palace, located in Keszthely, Hungary, is a stunning Baroque-style palace that dates back to the 18th century. It was originally built by the Festetics family and has since become one of the largest country houses in Hungary. The palace features aristocratic rooms from the 18th and 19th centuries, a library with an impressive collection of 90,000 volumes, and a display of historic coaches.
I bought my ticket there — no waiting. The grounds are free to explore. It’s just a pity there’s no audio guide, which would make the visit even better. This palace feels like a fairytale — beautifully preserved and full of charm! A truly magical step into the past. I admire the care taken to honour its history. Bravo! I will definitely come again.
Silvia B — Google review
Beautiful preserved palace with clear descriptions for most rooms. Exquisite details. Wonderful gardens out back, with some locals jogging through or enjoying a shady sit beneath a tree. Visited in busy summertime (late July), with a bit of a queue for entrance tickets, but still manageable, crowd-wise. Staff here and there to guide folks through. Bags must be stowed in free lockers next to the palace entrance (large purses included).
Jessica W — Google review
Who knew I would be enchanted by furniture and clocks! ? The palace and the grounds are lovely. We came all the way from Budapest and it was worth it! Only negative would not give me the senior rate for entrance since I am American. Only EU members get the discount as seniors!
Arye B — Google review
This place is great. The rooms are decorated nicely. Also, make sure you visit the grounds the carriage house. So many carriages - I have never seen ones so old
Tena S — Google review
A must-see for young and old, one of the best preserved furnished castles we have seen so far. Amazing tapistry, furnitures and paintings, again proving the very small genetic pool of the British and other monarchies. Very friendly staff giving you truly the best visitor experience worth every penny.
Freddy V — Google review
An incredible place, real old world money— both for the sheer number of items and their exceptional state of preservation. It’s fascinating to think about the immense wealth this dynasty must have had to make it all possible. Very interesting to see items from the far east, Italy and England. The library presents a complete world of knowledge, and at moments you can truly feel the spirit of the era. I’ve visited many palaces, but this one stands out for its rich detail and remarkable preservation. It’s not very large, which makes it even more enjoyable — you don’t get tired halfway through, as often happens in such places. Absolutely worth a visit.
Dana H — Google review
Beautiful palace that is furnished. Gives an interesting insight on how it was lived in by the owners. Would be interesting to learn also how it was for the staff to live and work here. A palace like this depended on a huge staff to make it functional. Would have loved to see the kitchen and staff rooms.
Jip J — Google review
Very impressive Castle and neighboring exhibitions. Take at least 4 hours if you’d like to visit all without being in a hurry. The train exhibition would be a paradise for boys and their fathers :-)

The Balaton Museum is a fascinating destination that delves into the rich history and geology of Lake Balaton. Known as the Hungarian sea, this expansive lake has been a popular summer retreat for centuries. The museum, established in 1928, offers captivating displays on native plants, the region's past, and the evolution of bathing culture with an array of historical bathing suits. Visitors can explore the Balaton aquarium to learn about the diverse fish species inhabiting the lake.
Nice museum telling the history of the lake area. Not crowded, easy way to spend 1 to 2 hours. There was a temporary exhibition on birds that was fun when we went.
Zachary S — Google review
Considering the awesomeness and richness of the history and beauty of the Lake Balaton, this museum was a clear under-performance. Staff didn’t seem to be enjoying their jobs and were clearly demotivated. A big percentage of the exhibition had no English information. You aren’t given any info paper in English and no audio guide was available. The parts offering English texts had so many dropped/removed characters that were making it hard to read. There was no info guiding you through the exhibition so you can follow it correctly. There are tourists who like to learn more about the Lake Balaton, why not to give them a better chance? Quality was not there, left the museum disappointed.
ND — Google review
Had a good wander around the museum, it has a natural history section, a section on Hungarian homes from ages past, clothing and family items, a pleasant way to spend a rainy afternoon
Ilona N — Google review
The museum is really great and complete to learn about the history of the Balaton lake there are no doubts about that at all. It's also quite interactive and not just some boring texts there are interactive map wax figurine music relics etc so it's really good (it's a good place to bring your children plus they have some beany bags on the floor if your children gets too bored while you read the very interesting history about Balaton lake) the building itself is also very pretty. So why do I put four stars ? Because the temporary exhibitions that we visited were written in Hungarians only and passionate about Hungary history I could not understand what the temporary exhibitions were about hat is my only down point otherwise awesome museum keep it up !
Guillaume C — Google review
Very informative, interesting and educational. Great displays and easy to roam.
James H — Google review
Great variety of temporary and permanent exhibitions about the history, wildlife of the area of the lake Balaton. Perfect place for those rainy days.
Roland K — Google review
Very interesting museum that tells about the creation of lake Balaton, it's animal and fish life. Also the history of human activity around the lake, from prehistoric times to today. A bit quaint, but the custodians are very friendly, so all in all a very good experience.

Lake Hévíz is a large thermal lake located just two hours away from Budapest, making it an ideal destination for a romantic getaway. The lake offers alleged health benefits due to its warm waters and is surrounded by an indoor/outdoor spa with various services. In addition to the lake, the town of Hévíz boasts impressive museums, vibrant markets, a historical old town, and a variety of dining options.
Cool thermal lake, yesterday was fabulous, outside temp 16, water temp 26, perfect. Sparkling vine in a bar is a must. Around 2 hr drive from Zagreb. Excellent place to spend a weekend. Fair prices.
Igor D — Google review
World’s largest swimmable natural thermal - it’s fun for a couple of hours. Trees provide some shade. Cards accepted for entry but need a cash deposit for swimming floats - worthwhile to aid a relaxing dip. We found that the water had a soporific effect and led to a great night’s sleep!
Gio L — Google review
Lake Heviz is a place where people seek health in a thermal lake rich in minerals. You won't feel the benefits after just one visit, but it's interesting to see. The changing rooms weren't very clean, and you need to bring slippers.
Giedre V — Google review
Update. Nice atmosphere and buildings although a bit undermaintained. For me it was good but my girlfriend with psoriasis had a lot of issues with her skin after bading the water for 1 hour. Hurted for hours. BUT: one day later it was way better than before. Didn’t expect that.
Willem E — Google review
The lake is truly healing; after one session, you notice a relaxing effect, and after several sessions, it's already therapeutic. The infrastructure is very convenient, with everything you need. It's a quiet, nature-filled retreat – just perfect. Unfortunately, the main bathhouse building is closed, but despite that, there's enough space for everyone. I especially liked that they offer water gymnastics and stretching there.
Diana S — Google review
Really good area for relax with restaurant and bar. Clear water.
Matej D — Google review
What a joy this lake is! It's the largest swimmable thermal lake in the world. Its temperature is ideal, and the effects on the body are felt after a few days. Joint pain disappears as if by magic, and the skin is soft. Swimming among the water lilies, with swallows dancing overhead, is a dream. The conditions are excellent, very well organized, and the price is decent. The mud treatment is a plus that we highly recommend. Magical! We hope to return one day... We would have liked the staff to be a little more friendly and welcoming, and a better communication in English ;-)
Eugen P — Google review
This is a lovely thermal lake which also is huge. Everyone gets an armband that also gives you a personal locker for your belongings. Note that you can not pick any locker you have to blip the armband at the screen when entering the locker room and then you are assigned a locker. I recommend going around the lake to the "relax" section where there are a lot fewer people and a much more calm setting. The lake is quite warm so do not expect to get cooled down on a warm summer day.

(Translated by Google) In the largest doll museum in Central Europe, you can see the typical folk costumes of historical Hungary on nearly 500 dolls. On two levels of the three-story building created from the old granary building (beautifully renovated and maintained), we saw many beautifully dressed dolls, while in the attic there was a presentation of the architecture of various landscape units in the form of several models. It's a unique, but certainly interesting exhibition. With a combined entry ticket, it can be visited together with several other museums at a reduced price. (Original) Közép-Európa legnagyobb babamúzeumában közel 500 babán nézhetjük meg a történelmi Magyarország jellemző népviseleteit. A régi magtár épületből kialakított (szépen felújított és karbantartott) három szintes épület két szintjén láttuk a megannyi szépen öltöztetett babát, míg a tetőtérben különböző tájegységek építészetének bemutatóját több makett formájában. Sajátos, de mindenképpen érdekes kiállítás. Kombinált belépőjeggyel több más múzeummal együtt kedvezményes áron látogatható.

We recommend the following parking lot: Keszthely, Zeppelin tér, 8360 Hungary It's best to download the Easy-Park app and pay the parking fee directly through the app. (This gives you time flexibility; you can extend your stay at any time via the app.) ➡️ It's best to start at the Doll Museum, where you can also get tickets for all 6 museums. This was not only budget-friendly, but also logistically practical. 💡 📷 The photo ticket is only +600 HUF, which is very worth buying, because this way you can take photos and videos at every location, and you can recall the experiences later. The Doll Museum features dolls dressed in Hungarian and international folk costumes, crafted with amazing detail. It is not only an aesthetic experience, but also a cultural adventure, as it provides insight into the traditions and costumes of various peoples. 🧒 The children enjoyed it, but the adults were also constantly enriched with “aha!” experiences. 📌 Summary: The Folk Costume Doll Museum is the perfect start to your Keszthely museum program. Don't forget to buy the combined ticket and the photo ticket – this way the experience will be complete! Rich in detail, cozy, informative – and a great family program! 📌 Összefoglalás: A Népviseletes Babamúzeum tökéletes indítás a keszthelyi múzeumprogramhoz.

Nestled in the heart of Keszthely, the Vidor Toy Museum is a treasure trove for both young and old alike. Spanning nearly 300 square meters, this charming museum boasts one of Europe's largest toy collections, featuring around 10,000 pieces that chronicle the evolution of playthings from the early 1900s to today. The Erotic Renaissance Wax Museum offers a unique and intriguing exhibition that showcases 12 renaissance scenes depicted by wax sculptures, along with erotic paintings and sculptures. It is an interesting and unusual museum, where visitors can experience a joyful and reasonably priced 15-minute exploration. Despite its small size and occasional lack of cleanliness, the museum is definitely worth visiting for those seeking something different.
Well...It's...interesting? By far the strangest museum I've ever been to. It's exactly what it advertises. You buy tickets at the children's toy museum, after which a cashier guides you to a door on the side of the building. You take the stairs into the basement where you are treated by 2 rooms filled with about 12 erotic renaissance scenes played out by wax sculptures. The walls are also filled by erotic paintings and there are little erotic sculptures. It's a ton of fun, very weird. I deffinately recommend.
Marcel R — Google review
Why this exists I do not know. It is a 15 minute long joyful experience that is reasonably priced. It is weird yet wonderful.
Christopher T — Google review
Payment for tickets in cash only in the toy museum box office next door: Really interesting, funny and strange exhibition all at the same time. All sorts of statues, all sizes and motives. Located underground. Cool experience.
Jiří V — Google review
There is a special offer that lets you visit all the small "museums" nearby. Do NOT take that offer, they are outdated and basic. This one takes about 20 minutes, and even thoguh it's the best out of the bunch, it's just a few (mostly french) erotic arts reprinted and a few wax puppets reenacting some of the scenes.
Richárd N — Google review
Not too expensive, for 30-minute visit perfect. They made life scenes out of drawings from that age. Don't go especially for this. Do go if you happen to be in the neighbourhood.

Horrorarium and Torture Museum is a small, slightly dirty and musty museum that showcases various forms of medieval torture through distressed-looking mannequins and buckets of fake blood. Despite its condition, the atmosphere adds to the experience. The museum offers English translations and allows dogs inside. While some find it a bit pricey, others find it interesting enough to visit again.
one of the 6 or 7 museums around the town, it was really interesting, and quite a lot of it was in english! a little on the pricey side for what you get but i really enjoyed it and will 100% go again. Added bonus- Dogs allowed!!

What a disaster—I’d be ashamed to sell tickets for a 2x2 meter room for nearly 10 euros. Anyone who decides to go for it will just be throwing away their money and a precious minute of their time.

Waste of time and money (fortunatelly it is really cheap) One stinking room with ugly wax figures. Taking pictures is charged but trust me, there is nothing interesting for your camera.

(Translated by Google) The choice of name is perfect, it's a kitsch museum. If we didn't know, I would say that I wouldn't pay a single piece of iron for such a large piece of scrap iron. But since it was written, that's why it's a great little museum. You can have a good laugh at the kitsch parade. Those dust-collecting junks that our grandparents, parents, and even today's people insist on and some even think are beautiful. I liked this the most out of the 7 museum tour. Lots of retro stuff takes you back to the past. But the place outgrew itself. A bit overcrowded. Many, many interesting things are quite hidden. (Original) Tökéletes a névválasztás, h giccsmúzeum.

(Translated by Google) Nostalgia and kitsch museum. You can find here everything that is interesting, spectacular, evoking the past, but mostly kitsch. Retro, our now-forgotten household items, so many lived loved or hated memories come back here. Arbitrary quirks from a well-worn but well-remembered, now parallel past. With some exaggeration, it can also be said that only glass shelves and showcases are not taste-destroying. Equipment of industrial historical value, injection-molded figures, paintings, a series of "naezmegmafene" objects suitable for a contest, such as glass fish, mini drinks, ties that caused public outrage, Miska jugs thought to be funny. These are just a few of the nearly ten thousand shaped vessels that have withstood the storms of time and their users relatively well. Who finds here the iconic "goodies" of his youth sinking into the darkness of the past, which he admired with silent reverence as a child at a neighbor or relative, envying him this immeasurable and fabulous wealth.

It really took us back in time and with some things we remembered our past and where we encountered the object in question. It is a very small museum that is a bit crowded, we were lucky to be there alone, but if there had been more people, I can't imagine it. Because the museum was crowded, you had the feeling that you didn't even really look at some of the objects because they got lost in the crowd. This museum would definitely deserve larger spaces. I liked the part that focused on healthcare. The museum is at the beginning of the pedestrian zone in the city center. While walking through the park my wife and I discussed based on what you rate a park. We came up with this: 1) Clean - this park is very clean with a lot of thrashcans 2) Sitting areas and benches - A lot of benches to sit on, enough grass fields for a picnic 3) Dogs allowed - Separate dog place, fenced, for them to play 4) Size - This is a quiet small park, easily walkable in a few minutes. 5) Flora - No special plants or flowers. Just a simple green park. Seeing it is a park, already super close to Balaton, with something for dogs (we are dog owners) we give it 4 stars.

Teri mama vendéglője, located near the vineyards outside Heviz's town center, is a popular restaurant worth visiting. It offers a pleasant atmosphere and is more affordable than other establishments in the main town. The food is delicious, with options such as beef filet accompanied by roasted vegetables and generous portions. The waiters are friendly, professional, and provide excellent service. They recommend local dishes to try and suggest nice wines to complement the meal.

Update Summer 2024: Still going strong, feels like we were there last week and not a year ago, so everything below still stands and it is still highly recommended. Added some photos of this year food. --- It is one of the better places in Hévíz and popular, so seat-reservation at least 2 days before. Compare with other places locally I can just say it is not only double size meat, but even better quality. In the end you still pay less than in the centrum-placed restaurants. Nice after years of Covid and high energy-costs, the waiter-staff are still the same, speaking English and German (and probably some other foreign languages I do not know...). And the waiters tend to joke with the guests, so bring your best humour. Guests tend to come back year after year, like us, so we know it has been a safe bet for many years and nothing seems to change that in the future. On critic point they have not yet discovered alcohol-free wine, but that they are not alone in Hungary...must still be imported, so hardly any have it.
Lars G — Google review
Considering the raving reviews we were actually disappointed. Nothing wrong about the place, it’s just an ok typical Hungarian restaurant, but no different from others in the region. So if you can’t get a table don’t worry and go to another “csarda” in Heviz: experience and food will be very similar.

It is a very cool place my favorite exhibition in the Festetics Garden. The coach museum has a lot of very cool coach from different times for different persons and functions and some more modern coach and cars. As for the hunting museum there are a lot lot lot of trophies of the animals hundred of them that are arranged in scenes so it is also cool to see those species up close. The only problem was that I expected the hunting museum to be about the Festetics Tímea and how they hunted what type of rifles they used what did they do with the animals etc this exhibitions is just about the collection of like a famous Hungarian hunter in the modern time we are talking 20-21th century so not very old school like we expected to see back in the 18th century.

This tranquil spot is perfect for those seeking a peaceful day by the water, with its delightful blend of shaded areas and sunny spots. While swimming may not be ideal due to shallow waters in the first 50 meters, it's an excellent choice for families looking to cool off and enjoy some fun in the sun.
It was an awesome beach. Clean, organized, calm and accessible. Offered safety info and signs to follow plus lifeguards. Showers, WC, changing rooms, thrash bins were all in order and clean. Offered plenty of parking place for both cars and bicycles. Plenty of snack bars around to buy food, drinks, ice cream, etc. A great place to enjoy swimming in the beautiful Lake Balaton. We werw there off-season, late September. The beach itself is rather small. A few places serve food, more places sell coffee and soft drinks. The public toilets are clean and well equipped. A little rundown stand, however, all the important things are still available and entrance fee is a bargain of you come on bike. I'm a little surprised that all other strand facilities in Kesthely are so popular und well maintained and this one feels a little neglected. When I was there, only one buffet was open and serving food and drinks. The other stalls where currently marked as for sale or just closes. Boat and sunbed rental was availale. If you come with a bike the entrance fee was just 500FT.

The water is shallow and muddy, personally, I don't like that. The food is overpriced but it's tasty. Otherwise it's a pretty place, there is a lot of space to sunbathe and also there are little open sided shacks with seating and a table, one of them even has a small cabinet full of books.

This is the closest beach on Lake Balaton to where I live. I like it because it is rarely crowded, and has a nice mix of shade and sunny places. It is not necessarily the best place for a swim, as the water is shallow, but not so much as some other Southside Balaton strands. There are a couple of decent bars and restaurants, including Pepi's Vendéglö. And... there are covered picnic shelters with power outlets that make a great remote office on hot summer days.

Number one experience in Heviz and Balaton! The ballon team is very professional and they prepared it to fly in short time close to Heviz. We got detailed instructions and safely borderd the baloon basket. Our pilot was very confident and was a good guide as well. We flew almost over Heviz lake, than almost above town Keszthely with spectacular palace, over old airport and landed near Kis Balaton - lake. The experience was terrible and emotionally damaging... My daughters and me came from Ireland to Heviz specialty for this balloon flight to celebrate the 20th birthday of my oldest daughter. The flight was booked for 3rd of August and on the 1st they assured me that it will go ahead as weather is fine. On the evening of flight at 10 min to 6pm, 20 min before collection time when we were already there they texted to cancel it due to expected storm... That was a big lie as there was a bit of clouds and sunny with no wind for the rest of the evening. My girls were devastated and disheartened, so I texted them back and explained the unfairness of the situation. To what they rudely replyed" it's not our business where you are coming from..." It was extremely distressing and financially damaging for us....

The Amazon House area, along with its building, has undergone a splendid renovation and now hosts an engaging exhibition called "Baronial Travels: Travel Adventures." This interactive presentation showcases the various means of transportation, be it by land, sea or air. The exhibition focuses on the leisurely travel experiences of the upper classes in earlier times. It features a diverse collection ranging from homeopathic apothecary sets to travel chests and grooming kits, including relatively modern cars and motorcycles.
Nice museum on travel from the 1700's to the 1900's. Well though out museum, small but interesting. English included with displays.
Alan R — Google review
Very impressive and amusing exhibition with some interactive parts. One can really have fun and also can learn how rich people travel and live in the end of the 19th century and in the beginning of the 1900.
Várhegyi E — Google review
An okay exhibition, but weird system, we saw opening time until 17.00, bought the tickets and then another employee informed us that they close in about 20 minutes (16.30). Since we already had the tickets we rushed through, but clearly stating the opening times and keeping to them would be nice.
Eveli H — Google review
A wonderful exhibition on the leisure travel of the upper classes in the past. Everything from homeopathic apothecary sets to travel chests and grooming kits to relatively modern cars and motorcycles. Not a super big collection, but really worth a look. As opposed to the nearby palace, all the text was in both Hungarian and English, so we could understand everything.
Erazem D — Google review
Interesting exhibition however the open hours are different in the reality therefore we aren't able to watch everything. Closing time on Google Maps 18:00, on website 17:00 (off-season) and they turn out us at 16:30. I don't really recommend this rude museum and staff.
K R — Google review
Very interesting exhibition about leisure travel in the late 19th - early 20th century period. You will learn about different means of transport (rail, carriage, boat, early cars, ships...), the customs and practices of traveling, old sayings related to it. Who loves traveling definitely would love this interactive and engaging exhibition. Strongly recommended experience!

Main Square in Keszthely is a charming and lively pedestrian area that serves as the heart of the city. It is adorned with a banner celebrating its long history and hosts various events, concerts, and festivals. The square is surrounded by impressive buildings such as the city theatre and main high school. Visitors can find information boards with event dates, an information bureau for inquiries, numerous cafes and restaurants, as well as refreshing water jets to cool off during hot days.
A small but very nice and very clean square. If you are hot, here is the right place because there are fresh water jets that serve to cool both the square and us too 😂 Before the square there is a very nice street full of very nice shops and restaurants that also have not very high prices

We had come across this great, pedestrianised space while returning from the Balaton on our bikes. The sign explaining the history of this Square was very informative and also written in English. Very clean, well cared for and a nice break from cycling.

I found it strange that restaurants close at 10 pm (their kitchen at 9!) In the middle of the summer. People still walking on the street and there is no place to sit in. On the other hand the main square has a special feeling due to the nicely restored last century buildings.

Libás Strand is a lovely beach with a mix of sand and shallow water entry points. The area features clean grassy patches, perfect for relaxing or feeding the ducks. While the water is not suitable for snorkeling due to its turbidity, there are plenty of amenities including food stalls, changing rooms, and clean restrooms. Families will appreciate the separate shallow section for little ones and deeper areas for older children and adults.
Spacious. Lively but calm. Great facilities for changing. I was able to properly relax. The food offered was also exceptionally good and the service was extremely polite.

This was very disappointing!!! The water was disgusting, warm and smelly. The beach is okay, nothint exciting, the bars around it as well. There is an entrance fee 4€ till 17.00, and 2€ after. Nothing exciting to do really, also very crowded
Nika Š — Google review
Very nice beach it gets a bit crowded after 4p.m. but otherwise the prices are very very reasonable there is a sand beach that goes deep quite fast (not having to walk 100meters to get torso deep). It is family friendly and has a lot of places to stay in the shade if needed. The beach has everything that you need from shower to changing room toilets also special for kids and toilets for adult as well as many restaurants and place to rent some water bike and kayak. There is shade everywhere if you are too hot and sunbeds as well as volleyball court. The water is a bit muddy but it's normal it's the northern part of Balaton near the river and it's a lake. Also you can swim by the swans and ducks that are not afraid so it's pretty cool
Guillaume C — Google review
Libas is great beach, plenty of shade, water seems warmer here, grass is greener and softer for walking barefoot, crowd is not noisy, very fine people here and Finaly A1 roaming coverage. Better place then city Kesthely beach and cheaper one, if you find parking is free. Recomendation
Vladimir K — Google review
Nice beach with good food very close. The beach is covered in fine sand with minimal rocks. The sand under the water is very silky and no plants or anything that feels gross under the surface in the swimming area. It wasn't very expensive to get it but be sure to bring cash because to get into the gated park area they do not take card. Once in the park area the food stands take card or cash.

Dog Beach Keszthely is a must-visit destination for dog lovers and their furry companions, nestled on the picturesque western shore of Lake Balaton in Hungary. This charming beach offers an idyllic environment where dogs can frolic freely while their owners relax amidst stunning lake views. The atmosphere is peaceful, making it a perfect spot to unwind and enjoy quality time with your pet.
An absolutely lovely place, would recommend to anyone who's around the town with a dog (or to anyone who loves dogs, really). Additional info: * You can pay there by card (for entrance as well as food) * Price wise, 2 adults and a medium size dogs entrance costed us 1300ft (July 2022) * Sunbed rental - 1000ft * There's a free parking, but it can get full so I'd recommend going there before noon
Mikołaj K — Google review
Very small space. Muddy water, more like swamp. Was nice Idea, but then we realised it is very dirty , each cm of grass was smelling of poo. We end up showering our dog at room as he was so stinky. Definitelly not for people to swim and not for dog too. Beach will have to be bigger .
Petra C — Google review
Nice beach for dogs, you can buy snacks and drinks there. The owner is nice.
Javier M — Google review
Lots of dogs and a lot of fun for the dogs. Would however be nice if they cleaned a bit more of the passage to the lake, so it was a bit wider.
Magnus-André M — Google review
There was space for laying down but the water space was small. If it wasn’t for the thousands of mosquitoes, could have been enjoyable. It was cute but maybe not worth it. There’s also a stand for buying some stuff for dogs. The entrance was cheap (700 ft person + 500 ft dog).
Chiara M — Google review
very nice place for all the dogs. could be cleaned up upon the lake entrance because of the thicket. overall, plenty of space, some trees providing shadows. clean and tidy
Kamil T — Google review
It is a great place. Kind of heaven for dog owners. We spent 2 hour here just watching happy dogs playing in the lake. The facilities are surprisingly good. We could buy coffee, there is a coffee shop, you can buy some food. No dog poop. Great place! Looking forward to go back sometime in the future!
András C — Google review
Whilst it’s a great good that we have a dog beach available in Keszthely at all; I must warn future guests that if they do decide to visit… they need to buy those swimming shoes first because the beach is not sandy, it is full of sharp rocks. I cut my sole and unfortunately so did my dog. If something could be done to get the rocks out and put sand in it would be much safer and a nicer experience for visitors.

Keszthely's Városi strand is a spacious park enclosed by fences, offering a variety of attractions such as a beachfront, a large swimming pool, and thrilling water slides. Adjacent to the charming floating Sziget Cafe, it provides an enjoyable experience for visitors. During my visit, the entry fee for adults was 800HUF (approximately 2.5 USD). Even in winter, the beach area and pier offer picturesque views and great photo opportunities.

The Municipal Beach is a lakeside destination with cafes, bars, and entertainment options. It features both sandy and grassy areas along with a wooden pier. Entry requires payment of approximately 3.5 eur for adults, but it is considered worthwhile. The beach offers various amenities and is particularly child-friendly, ensuring safety and cleanliness.
Városi Strand: Perfect for a sunny escape! ☀️💦 Enjoy the sandy beach, refreshing water, and lively atmosphere. Ideal for families and friends. Don't miss it! 🏖️ There’s also a little swimming pool which you have to try.

Very nice place. A lot of space on the grass for a blanket. Perfect for kids and people who can't swim, not great for the swimmers, very far shallows. I feel safe as this is a payable entry and there are no "hand sellers". The place is well equipped, changing cabins, toilets, lots of food trucks and small restaurants. Definitely worth the price. Highly recommend!
Lukasz K — Google review
It is a nice place for family and friends to hang out. The children enjoyed themselves. For spoiled adults like myself, the water was too dirty and smelled bad, so I did not have a swimming experience, but still enjoyed the day.
Kate R — Google review
Beautiful lake beach. Plenty of trees and shade. Good facilities (change rooms, toilets, lockers) and several kiosks/bistros with selection of Hungarian dishes. Good portions and reasonable prices. Very gradual slope in the water and fine, soft sand in the lake. When we were there, a lifeguard was on duty.
Jip J — Google review
Not bad, but I think the water in the lake is pretty muddy and can’t see anything, but this is truly a big lake that you can even play sloop⛵️

Excellent beach for staying with children! There are plenty of activities for kids and lots of natural shade. It’s tidy and very clean. The beach is sandy and the water is very shallow, which is perfect for children. Entrance fee is around 4.3€ per person.
Andrej B — Google review
This beach is super family-friendly with a pool and two great playgrounds! Now, I won’t dwell on the water—if you’ve been to Lake Balaton, you know it’s a bit muddy. But, I’m giving this spot 4 stars based on other beaches we’ve visited in the past. The playgrounds are fantastic, with sandy areas for the kids, and there’s a small sandy beach with easy water access for little ones. Although, it does get pretty crowded. The big bonus here is the pool—something other places didn’t have! Our three kids practically lived in it. It does get busy on weekends, but weekday mornings are just perfect. You can rent paddleboards, kayaks, or paddle boats with slides—we rented one every day, and the kids couldn’t get enough of sliding into the water! You can also book boat trips, which is a fun way to break up the day. There are plenty of bars and food stands, with the best and least crowded ones near the pool. If you want to grab drinks, it’s cheaper to pop outside and buy them from the shops near the entrance—they’re half the price! We had a blast here, but we tend to prefer smaller, more relaxed villages that feel like a true holiday escape.
Martina R — Google review
Paid admission, around 3.5 eur for an adult ticket (half price after 6 pm, free after 7 pm), but worth it. The beach has all kinds of amenities, great fir kids, safe and clean. Tebds to be crowded, but the star of the beach is a 150 year old, renovated bathing island with a cafe that offers an unique, more peaceful experience.

Festetics Állatpark is a delightful petting zoo that offers a charming experience for families and animal lovers alike. This well-maintained park features a variety of domestic animals, allowing visitors to interact with goats, horses, and more in a clean and orderly environment. The enclosures are spacious, ensuring the animals appear healthy and content. With an entry fee that's easy on the wallet, it's an excellent value for those looking to spend quality time outdoors.
I recently visited the petting zoo with the family and was very impressed by the cleanliness and orderliness of the zoo. There were many different animals to see and touch, which was a great experience for young and old. The enclosures were well maintained and the animals seemed happy and healthy. Overall, it was a wonderful visit and I would definitely recommend this petting zoo. 😊 Good value for Money.

A decent place with many animals. Kids loved cuddling and feeding them. The lady at the cash desk was not very friendly and refused to give us a discount related to the West Balaton Card even the fact they advertise it on their web page. Charging extra 900 HUF was not what we expected. The animals have plenty of space for themselves and look as they are treated well. However, the small dog in the second part of the area looked miserable and neglected. He was there alone, his fur was dirty and full of dreadlocks, he was visibly depressed and sad. He should not be kept there like that for sure!

Next to each figure there is a detailed, understandable, informative description, so even those who are not familiar with every corner of Hungarian history will enjoy it. 📜 The figures on display are lifelike, well-crafted, and the background information is just long enough to learn from them, but not be boring. 🎓 Children can easily follow the stories, and adults can get a lot of “aha!” experiences – you can even “smarten up” a little in front of the others. 😉 It can also be an excellent program for school-age children, because it teaches in an entertaining way. 💡 Tip: it is worth taking your time, not just “rushing through” it – many small details only come to light if you linger a little longer. 📌 Summary: The Historical Panopticon is a sophisticated, informative and entertaining exhibition, where the past becomes tangible. A recommended program for families, students, or anyone who would like to discover a little Hungarian history in a casual atmosphere.

Very interesting interactive exhibit about the local ecosystem and wildlife. There is also a beautiful short movie to watch. The grounds are well-mainatined. There is a Café with good selection of food and drinks and there are clean restrooms. There is a fun playground outside where even some parents and grandparents could not resist joining the kids on the unique seesaw swing. The tours to Diás-sziget are scheduled at specific times and guided tours for birding or kayaking require advance reservation so I would recommend checking with them for information before visiting.
