Visited several times in Aug / Sept 2019. Superb beach. Access is so-so, fortunately the authorities have no plans to change it. Keeps the crowds away. Odd that the only negative comments are from Portuguese people. It's not the overcrowded Algarve. Whatever you require (food, drink) must be brought in, no shop. Lifeguards present only during summer season. Not very recommended for young children, as waves, strong current and rocks are pretty much all over. During low tides it's perfectly suitable for all. Absolutely stunning sunsets. North side is a legal nudist beach, genuine one, not the "look there" variety. Thoroughly superb.

This is really one of the best beaches I've been in Portugal until now. Beautiful scenery, clean beach and water. You can choose from a small beach between the rock's (first parking when you come from the south) or a larger one (last parking). There are a lot of surfers there and you can rent a board. No bar or restaurant to buy drinks or food. You have to bring it yourself.

This place had fantastic food, a cozy atmosphere, and great vibes. I especially loved the mushroom dish and fish soup. The service was warm and welcoming. We’ll definitely return next time we’re in town.

We visited Tasca do Celso after hearing glowing recommendations from friends—and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The service was impeccable, with a special thanks to our waiter Vasyl, who went above and beyond with thoughtful suggestions and warm hospitality. Every dish was a hit—from the flavorful pica pau de atum starter to the rich cataplana de peixe, topped off with a heavenly cheesecake for dessert. The vinho verde that was recommended to us paired perfectly. To round off a perfect evening, we were treated to two rounds of digestifs on the house. A truly great gastronomic experience with a fantastic atmosphere. Highly recommended!

This was the best meal we’ve had in Portugal and beyond. The 2 that served us were really lovely. Two young people from Ukraine who knew everything about the food they served …. Really impressive. We had a great food experience in this lovely Portuguese town.

Life's to short to travel second class all the way. Been "eating" our way thru Vila Nova de Milfontes during the week. Tasca do Celso easily become our favourite restaurant, not least because great service. The food... the food is top notch and well presented. However on the "downside" , one of the younger waiters need to read more fact/ history 😂. The equipment on the wall is not for towing behind a monkey and the fish soup contains Monkfish, Sea bass, Manta and Turbut for your info🐟😊

We come here a few times per year and advise this restaurant to our customers and everyone that visits the costa vincentina. Excellent food, wine and staff, 5 stars.

I accidentally stopped there on my way from south coast and WOW. I ate my best tradition Portuguese meal here - Acorda de Camarao. It is a bread pudding with shrimps and it’s water left from boiling them. All with lots of parsley and garlic and mixed with runny yolk 🫠

I had high expectations. However, I was disappointed. The octopus salad was amazing. Then came the main meal: cod. The puree that was served with it was almost cold. Meal was underwhelming. Maybe I should have chosen something else. Staff was nice.

Grilled fish was amazing, cooked to perfection, shrimps were a bit dry. Stunning view on the ocean, I'd say cool little spot for a meal on the way.

Fantastic food with a great view and super friendly service. We had the sardines pate to start with and then a grilled seabass to share between two people. I also indulged in a fig and almond pie. I so wanted to leave a note for the woman who wrote a comment earlier stating that ordering by the kilo is "not their style". I suspect they don't eat in fish restaurants much 😬

This is a shack facing west over the ocean. If you can be here at sunset you won’t be disappointed. This is simple food done to perfection. We had sea bass and chicken. To say the grill man is master of his art almost understates it. I have eaten grilled fish on the beach all over the world and this was the best I’ve had. He nailed the chicken too. He cooks multiple different fish and cuts or meats and does so at pace. Make a reservation at least a day ahead of time or show up and take your chances, you won’t regret dinning here!

Incredible 10/10 dining experience. Went to lunch and immediately was in awe of the beautiful surroundings and the restaurant setting. You walk down a scenic staircase going into the open-air restaurant which has fresh fish and meats being grilled by a very skilled chef! Everything was delicious (favorites were the tiger shrimp, clams, chicken and the sea bass). Definitely worth a visit! Great service as well.

Accidentally stumbled into this gem of a restaurant while walking the beach, returned the following night with reservations. Sat outside, ordered the grilled sea bass, which is also cooked outside. Watched the sunset. Perfect evening.

My husbands fave place to eat when we visited Portugal. We both got different kinds of fish and enjoyed them equally— both were delicious and freshly smoked. Plus when eating here you have and unbothered and scenic view! We would love go back and have since recommended to many friends.

Praia de Milfontes is an absolute paradise! With its stunning sands, calm waters, and perfect weather, it's the ultimate beach destination. I enjoyed blissful days basking in the sun, swimming in the warm water, and feeling the refreshing breeze on my skin. It's a must-visit beach for those seeking tranquility and natural beauty.

The place is amazing, the only let down is the public facilities available for the users, with only 1 public toilet available which is far far away from the beach it's definitely not enough. The rest the views are amazing.

This wasn't my favorite beach in Portugal but it was very nice. Because it was at the mouth of a river, there were very calm waters for families. There was a lot of parking.

Just a heads up for other dog owners! This is not a dog friendly beach even though multiple websites says so and earlier reviews here. Our guess is that the sad council of Odemira has recently decided to curfew pets here. We were told upon arrival it’s a 2000€!!! fine to bring pet to the beach. There is a shitty beach by the river which is just mud in low tide.

A wide beach with great surf, fine sand. There are two access roads and parking facilities. The northern access leads to the river Mira. Directly opposite and therefore with a view of the Milfontes fortress. The road ends at the restaurant Oasis, from there the road coming from the southern beach is a one-way street. If you come by car you can reach the beach by keeping the entrance on the left. Here you have a panoramic view of the sea. There is also a restaurant/beach club and cliffside parking with dining areas for a rest. The parking spaces at the beach restaurant allow wheelchair accessible access to the sandy beach.... Don not miss if you are in this area !

Really enjoyed this beach. It has a sand bank during the afternoon which starts disappearing towards the evening. Water is cold but expected!

Good beach with soft sand. When tide is in it's a bit rough but once the tide goes out, great place to swim. Has a cafe/restaurant and a ferry service to the other side of the river.

We stopped at this restaurant when we were exploring Vila Nova de Mil Fontes and were pleasantly surprised!! The place is nicely decorated, the staff was super nice and welcoming and the food just delicious! We brought our dog and they were happy to accept him at the balcony. The octopus with sweet potato and the risotto nero were to die for!! Couldn't recommend it more!! For sure we'll comeback if we are in the area!

We were out on a walk along the coast and stumbled across this gem! Can definitely recommend the octopus! It was so delicious, i loved the thought thats gone into Creating such a cozy setting! Km 17 coming from Porto Covo. Finally a café for well deserved drinks after walking around in the sand. We had a fresh orange juice, a pineapple and strawberry juice and the lemonade. They were all great and refreshing, especially the mint and lime lemonade. Maybe my review is biased by my thirst to be fulfilled. Anyway, also great cushions to seat and relax. And there is a restaurant as well if you want proper food.

Thanks to Google we found this out-of-the-way gem. Very characterful restaurant, overlooking the sea. Easy parking for our motorcycles and a welcome for us scruffs. Food superb. Excellent starters (you get upsold), tacos with big juicy shrimp, tomato soup and salad.

Fabulous. Do NOT believe the bad reviews. They almost put me off. - yes there is a (delicious) array of nibbles as couvert, but they are very clearly priced on the menu - talking of menu, it is wonderful, lots of variety and inventive. I had 4 starters because I couldn't choose! But no main course... - staff were delightful. Who are the bad staff that reviews complain about? They must have all been on a day off. We had 3 people look after us, all pleasant, helpful and efficient. - do book, it is a popular spot so don't expect a table if you don't book - you cannot book a table on the terrace, so book early (1230) and be prompt - if you sit inside, you will not suffer, it is lovely too!

We were recommended this restaurant by a local, and for a reasonably priced night out, it was nice. The cuttlefish starter was simple but enjoyable, and the Octopus stew was huge, but delicious. I am so glad we only ordered one main meal, as recommended. The ambience and service were just ok.

We had a very good meal and very affordable. The atmosphere is good although we would have prefer to sit in the inside room. Staff is friendly and the portions are big, we had the octopus salad for starter and we shared a veal skew and it was enough for two.

What a fun place with amazing fresh grilled fish! We had sea bass and red snapper. Wow! And the local cake. The waiter even deboned the fish for us. Loved it.

The drinks arrived fairly quickly, and then we waited 26 minutes for our food. The rice dish was good, but the turkey steak resembled turkey jerky; it was very dry. The house red wine was very good. The service was pretty awful; to get anything we had to struggle to track down a server. No one ever checked to see if we needed anything. So, we didn't stay for coffee or dessert.

For me one of the most beautiful beaches in Portugal. No public transportation. Free big parking. No bar and no toilet. Trash bins at the access (please don’t leave thrash on the beach!). Wooden decks & stairs to access the beach. In low holiday season, during the week no people. Peace and sound of the ocean.

Visited 2019 Splendid ! No other way to describe it. Both the South, family oriented, as the North area (naturist). The north is quieter, no peeping Toms. Fine sand, water is cold (Atlantic), fresh water piped from natural sources. No shops, so take what you need (take your rubbish home please. Access road is not tarred, thus avoiding the big crowds. Hopefully it will stay so. Google maps has a perfect picture of it, inclusive surf. As for the sunset, well... Splendid! Very much looking forward to April '22

Huge sandy beach. Ideal for surfing and playing with the waves. Be careful there are plenty of rocks, which mostly are reviled when the tide is low. Amazing spot to enjoy the sunset. There is also a nudist part at the northeast part of the beach.

Very interesting beach, with rocks, sand and zen trees from stones. It has good waves, but because of the rocks in the water it could be pretty dangerous. We have enjoyed this beach and it's environment.

I took a wonderful surf lesson from three great surf teachers. The beach was wonderful and the tips were great. Still need more practice to adapt the remarks from the teachers into my skill set. They were really open for any kind of question and due to the small group size I received lots of input. I’d recommend the surf school and also the beach that we have visited. Fantastic sandy beach with good waves. In case you want to borrow a surf board for a session by yourself, you can go to the beach where they have a small outpost site to get boards and suits.

We had such an amazing time! The instructors were super friendly and explained everything really well — I learned so much in the session and felt more confident with every try . The waves were incredible, and the beach was beautiful. Booking a lesson was super quick and easy too. Cool Guys and good equipment. Me and my two boys had a privat lesson. It has been a lot of fun. The teachter was able the basics very good so we could stand on some nice waves. Everything was fine! Thank you guys!

I had an awesome time. Great instructors. Sara was great. I really learned a lot from her. Her feedback was essential and her teaching method very efficient. Communication with the school was great. We had to switch hours because of winds conditions and it went super smoothly. I wouldn't hesitate to surf with them again

Beautiful lighthouse with a soccer field situated right next to it. Gorgeous cliffs. Parkings available but not for campers.

Spectacular views of the cliffed sided inlets washed by the blue/green coloured Atlantic ocean. The headland is honeycombed with walks being used by many multi national hikers. The head land is watched over by a majestic lighthouse quietly doing its job.

Although the lighthouse is not accessible, this is a perfect place to take a walk/hike across the rugged coast line on the public trail along the cliffs. The views are spectacular and because the more difficult parts have been flattened out, it’s also accessible with a stroller. Be sure to bring your football, because there is a one of a kind pitch right next to the wild sea:

Visited this place by the end of November. Was definitely worth seeing it: stunning view, no people around, looks very mysterious. p.S. take a jacket with you, it can be pretty windy over there.

Carlos was absolutely fantastic and went out of his way to make our experience easy! He transported our luggage for us along four sections of Rota Vicente. Communication via WhatsApp was easy. He was super responsive and very friendly. He also really went above and beyond for us because we wanted to make a 12 pm bus on our last day so he not only carried our luggage to us but met us early and drove us to the bus stop. We really appreciated it, especially after the first transport company wanted to charge us for two bags because our bag was overweight. I cannot recommend this company enough!

Carlos was dependable and kind. He moved our bags each day of our hike and they were always waiting at our destination at the correct spot. He was also helpful, sharing a map and offering us a ride once when we couldn’t find a taxi. Overall he is a great person to hire for any adventure you might be going on and a lovely person in general!

Nature Transfers handled our luggage transfers while we hiked sections of the Fisherman's Trail. I cannot overstate how happy we were with the service provided and speed of communication! Not lugging the extra weight was a fantastic decision....the Trail sections are challenging enough without it. (I promise!) We were so grateful for the prompt communication by Carlos - we had complete peace of mind over whether the luggage would be there to meet us at the end of the day. Carlos is absolutely reliable, on time and has good tips! We booked nature activities for transfer of luggage and also taxi-service between walking sections on the Trilho des pescadores. When we arrived we had a meeting where we agreed on pick-up times and Carlos was very flexible to adjust the schedule to our wishes. We were lucky that all transfers where direct transfers without additional stops. Thanks for the great service. Highly recommended.

Carlos helped me get from Vila Nova de Milfontes to Porto Covo when I couldn't find a taxi after doing that section of the Fisherman's Trail. I believe people usually schedule in advance with him, but I called and he picked me up literally 15 minutes later. Very friendly, helpful, and really seems to care about people. Definitely would recommend!

Carlos transported two of us after hiking the Fisherman’s trail. He was very responsive and our query was same day. His communication before and during the transport was outstanding. Professional. On time. Sociable. Very relaxed, flexible and patient. Gave us great local information during the travel. Highly recommend him!
