A great spot - nice sand, good facilities and good parking available. Natural lagoon at low tide

Amazing beach, clean toilets refreshments and food what more can you want. Tide was far out till 3pm but we were able to explore the rock pools and walk the estuary. 3pm hit and body boards out 🏄‍♂️
Drew E — Google review
My favourite beach in the Vendée! The tide was out this morning, leaving lots of rock pools and low stone formations to explore. This beach is huge, with sand dunes behind it, a meandering river estuary to one side and the start of a coastal walk to Port Bourgenay on the other side. Veillon plage is perfect at all times of the year - brisk walks in winter and sunbathing in summer! Top tip: arrive before lunchtime as the car park fills up quickly!
Annette K — Google review
Beautiful area. Rough Atlantic ideal for all types of amateur surfing and calm lagoon for paddleboarding. Lagoon is good for dogs too. No swimming allowed in the lagoon but many people were.
Mark K — Google review
Most beautiful beach with lots of space and sufficient opportunities for beach activities. Come early since the parking places are limited and during high season there is a quite a rush

Marina
At the Capitainerie Port Bourgenay - Vendée Grand Littoral, your vacation experience begins with simply unpacking and indulging in relaxation. Nestled within the stunning Vendée region, this charming marina has evolved since its inception in the 1980s from a modest harbor for sixty boats to a bustling hub with over 650 moorings today.
Very friendly welcome to yachtsmen, good facilities, would return. No large supermarket in walking distance but a good choice of independent shops 10 mins walk. Bakers, fishmongers, butchers. Restaurants on the port, le vintage is recommended.

Castle
Escape room center
Le Château des Aventuriers in Vendée, France is a XVIth century French Renaissance chateau with a rich history dating back to 1555. The castle offers treasure hunts inspired by pirates and dinosaurs, making it an exciting destination for families. Visitors can embark on trails filled with puzzles and exploration, available in both English and French. In addition to the adventure trails, there are opportunities to investigate the chateau and enjoy activities such as playing in the wild west area.
Loved it here, very immersive experience and entertaining. We went with a 6 and a 8 year old and did the full grands frission pass. The haunted house escape room was awesome, the kids loved it despite being terrified! We then did the pirate adventure followed by the chateau cluedo style game - both good fun. We took a picnic in and there was plenty of room to enjoy that alongside the food offerings from the Parc. We wrapped the day up with the dinosaur trail whcih we nearly missed as we were tired, how we were glad that we did it as it was probably the best trail and also in the woods so some good respite from the sun. I am glad we went this place and we would return in the future!
Steve H — Google review
Went to do the Dino and Pirate adventure, would recommend buying tickets two days before you go to get the discount but still worth the full price. Dinos and pirates took 1-2 hours each depending on how fast you want to do it. Pirates was more games involved where dinos was more quiz like. Kids loved both. Playground leaves a lot to be desired but worth the trip up. Western city was closed when we were there so no idea how that it set up.
Aaron ( — Google review
We had a fantastic family day out here today. We went with our 9 and 6 year old who throughly enjoyed themselves. We did all 4 adventures and both our children were fine in the haunted house. I was incredibly impressed with the level of effort put into each task whether it was each of the rooms in the haunted house of the riddles to solve on the Dino trail. We arrived at 10am and left at 4pm but could have stayed later. It exceeded all expectations and was definitely worth the money. The medals for completing each adventure went down very well with our children as well. Thank you so much for a brilliant day. Highly recommended.
Rea P — Google review
Absolutely brilliant. Picnic benches on site for you to bring yours. Pirate trail was brilliant and kept three kids under 7 busy. Dino trail was almost as good. We were 4 hours there and kids got reqards after completing both tasks. We'll worth the trip , time and money.
Colin H — Google review
We really enjoyed our visit, stopping off for a few hours detour between Nantes and La Rochelle. We did the one trail option ( we opted for dinosaurs) which was perfect for us with the time we wanted to spend there. The staff were really friendly and explained the trails in English which was helpful. I really liked the fact that the puzzles are suitable for all ages ranges with my 3 year old being able to take part easily too but still interesting for us too. My daughter is disabled but it was accessible for her too and she enjoyed pushing the large buttons which were at the height of her buggy. We also ate in the snack bar which I thought was fine and not too expensive considering we were a captive audience. Would definitely return to do more trails if we were in the area.
Anna — Google review
The chateau itself is interesting and full of lovely decor, there is a lot of pretty garden to see with my favourite being the lily pad pond. I leave such negative review because the male peacocks conditions concerned me. I've owned peacocks myself for 7 years, including hatching them and raising them. They have 13 acres of land to roam, this friendly peacock has a small enclosure with no room to roost up high. I hope the peacock is released during off peak times. There is so much land for this peacock and If it’s down to the peacock being overly friendly and potentially nipping at kids then perhaps he should be relocated. I was also charged €14.40 for 2 magnums and 2 cans of juice which is extortionate. A lot of the land is restricted because of wristband colours, we truthfully ignored one of them because the beautiful lily pad pond was behind this point, I was not interested in the dinosaur exhibit just the pond so beware if you want to explore all areas a higher paying price for the right wristbands might be needed
Georgia — Google review
Great day out for kids 3 - 12 years approx. We only did the pirates treasure hunt, but there are 3 other activities if you want to spend the whole day there. Some very good points about this place: 1) it's not expensive 2) you can bring your own picnic (however, there are snacks, drinks and ice cream available on site too) 3) you can choose to purchase packages from 1 to 4 activities according to what your children are able for and how long you plan to be visit. The pirates treasure hunt was about 2 hours altogether.
Margaret K — Google review
Absolutely brilliant. Kids (7+6 boys) loved it, particularly the murder in the chateau adventure and the pirate trail. Spent 3.5hrs doing the chateau, pirate and Dino adventures. A great experience and a beautiful location

Aquarium de Vendée offers themed tanks representing oceans from around the world, including tropical waters. It's recommended to have a car to explore the wider region, which is home to attractions like Noirmoutier, Ile d'Yeu, Ile de Re, and the theme park of Puy du Fou. Visitors can marvel at colorful fish and crustaceans in well-designed tanks with touch screens providing information. The aquarium also features videos on sea species breeding for global conservation efforts.
A lovely Aquarium, polite and friendly staff at the reception. Facilities spotlessly clean. Plenty of information in English. Well worth a visit.
Peter T — Google review
Nice aquarium to visit. A good distraction from the campsite we were at and nice and cool, away from the hot sun. There are plenty of fish to see, a lot of sharks in particular, which the children liked. There are different aquariums with fish from different parts of the world. A great idea and very informative. A gift shop awaits at the end.
Donall O — Google review
Very interesting and mesmerizing place for big and small. We visited it with our 2 year old daughter and we had a blast, all of us.
Olga G — Google review
Enjoyable trip with the family. Lots of local species along with the more exotic ones. We visited straight after the afternoon closure so it was incredibly busy. A quieter time would allow smaller children to enjoy it more.
Eóin D — Google review
Great option to pass some time on a rainy day. Huge selection in a number of tanks, Queueing setup outside suggests it gets busy in high season which might take from the experience.
Leo K — Google review
This is a good aquarium. The major problem is its very short for the price! We paid €60 entry for 2 adults and 3 children, which is fine. But we'd done it all in an hour. The gift shop is also ridiculously priced.
Steve T — Google review
This was a really nice aquarium with nice size tanks divided up by regions and a beautiful selection of fish! Great shop to finish and ample parking, thoroughly recommend!!

Castle Talmont is an 11th-century hilltop stronghold located in Talmont-Saint-Hilaire, France. The castle offers guided tours and hosts themed events such as medieval jousting, falconry shows, and a summer medieval festival with entertainers and crafts. Visitors can explore the inside of the castle, dress up in medieval costumes, enjoy birds of prey demonstrations, and play old-fashioned wooden games.
A very old castle, which focuses its tourism upon its time ruled by King Richard I. A fantastic place with, shows, kids events and freedom to walk about. While no means large, it's quaint, fun and everyone seems to relish working there.
J ( — Google review
It's a very interesting place. Worth the €5 entry fee. A good information sheet in English which is nice to see. Fantastic views from the highest points.
Peter B — Google review
Very interesting castle with lots to do, knight show was one of the best we've seen! Book early for the evening events!!
Dave C — Google review
Great value at €5. Not for those with mobility issues. Good views from the top of the tower. Has a refreshments cabin including local bottled beer.
Steve J — Google review
Great summer day out at the Chateau in Talmont. Every year there is a medieval festival with entertainers, medieval crafts and jousting knights. Then throughout the summer the castle hosts a variety of activietes for all the family. You can visit the inside of the chateau - with a guided tour - even in English at certain times of the day. The kids can dress up in medieval costumes, there are birds of prey and old-fashioned wooden games - great fun! Spend the whole day there to make the entry fee worth while!
Annette K — Google review
One of the oldest middle age castle in France. Going into a 1000 years old room is something. The services around are perfect and the historian speecher very interesting. I recommend.
Jérôme L — Google review
Nice show, telling the historical story about the castle and its king. Small downside if you're not into French: the whole story is told in French. Further, you can actively play old games from the age of knights and have a look at the castle. Prices are ok seen the activities you can enjoy.

Specialty Museums
The Automobile Museum of Vendee in Talmont-Saint-Hilaire showcases over 150 restored vehicles dating back to the 1880s, including model cars, posters, and accessories. The collection predominantly features French car brands from 1885 to 1970, with additional makes from Britain, Italy, and Germany. Visitors can explore a wide array of prototypes and unique automobiles.
Lovely museum of predominantly French cars from 1885 to 1970. There are other makes too from Britain, Italy and Germany. Very interesting to see old cars that are in good visual condition. It was 48 euro from 2A and 3Children, my youngest may have been free of charge. The length of the tour depends on yourself, how long you want to look at the cars for. There is a facility to make coffee/tea and small gift shop which sells model cars.
Donall O — Google review
Fabulous museum holding cars from every era. Easily half a day to tour all of the exhibits which are restored to prestine condition. Some are rare project cars that were never produced. Cafe on site as well as a huge free parking area.
Ewan B — Google review
Brilliant display of old cars from the late 1800's upwards. My only gripe is the prices was 12.50€ one day and then 13.00€ the next day, then only to find out it was 14.00€ at the till??
Mark P — Google review
Cute little auto museum. Nice car variety. Sounded like they ll upgrade the signs in English which would be great as they arent as interesting as the French signs. Nice 1hr ish thing to tour if you are into cars and on vacation in the area.

(Translated by Google) What beautiful memories of our walk in the salt marshes. A route of approximately 5 km from the mill where you can gain some height to admire the panorama. On the way, you may be accompanied by the croaking of laughing frogs, birds and black mustard, abundant in May (the flowers are yellow). There are also salt producers where it is possible to acquire their know-how or take a guided tour. This route can be done on foot (recommended) or by bike.

(Translated by Google) A real moment of tranquility and discovery in the heart of nature! The landscapes are magnificent, between water reflections, salty hues and local fauna. The walk is easy, accessible to all and very pleasant, especially at the end of the day with a beautiful golden light. Perfect for nature lovers or those looking for a little peace and quiet away from the tourist hustle and bustle. We also learn a lot about salt production, a fascinating local know-how! 🌿🚶‍♂️🌅🧂 (Original) Un véritable moment de quiétude et de découverte au cœur de la nature ! (Translated by Google) A very pleasant place for a walk, even with a dog. The only problem is that there are only trash cans in the village for waste. The open-air photography exhibition is very interesting and beautiful. (Original) Endroit très agréable pour ce promener et aussi avec un chien. Le seul soucis c'est qu'il n'y a que des poubelles sur le village pour les déchets. L'exposition photo à ciel ouvert est très intéressante et belle.

(Translated by Google) Ducks, egrets, herons, bulls, sheep and swans in the marshes, birds singing in the forest, butterflies fluttering in abundance with mustard seeds... There is a large part of the marsh which is not paid for and is not used for salt cultivation. Well indicated, easy to do, and refreshing. Magnificent walk with superb contrasts, the yellow mustard seeds and the abundant greenery at this time, it is certainly the best of the seasons because it was already hot and it is not shady so in my opinion not recommended to do it in summer or with high temperatures. There are a large number of cycle paths so it is very busy. You have to be careful there is no distinction between pedestrians and bicycles.

Children can enjoy classic playground favorites like boat swings and merry-go-rounds while parents appreciate the ample shaded seating areas to unwind.
Gorgeous playground, loads to do for every age. We spent a few hours here and came back again in the evening. Tickets are valid for the whole day so you can come and go. Cafe at entrance serves gorgeous pizzas/salads. We had the whole place to ourselves which was an added bonus!

Great place to entertain the kids with lots of options to pass a few hours. Tickets let you return on the same day which is great if you want to split time between there znd the beach. Staff are friendly and helpful and the pizzas are good. Set in the trees so there's plenty of shade on the hot days and a chance to avoid occasional showers on the wet days.

This Parc is a favourite of our family. Fun for all, 5 children aged 12 to 4 and grandparents! The boat swings, roundabout and swinging horse are favourites from my childhood and it's great to share that experience with my grandchildren! Pizza and food available or take your own picnic. You can go in and out as many times as you like. Plenty of shade for when it's hot and covered areas if the weather is inclement. Fabulous to see the new owners carrying on this brilliant, no screens, no fuss, good old fashioned play park .... We love it!!! PS bring extra socks!!!

We spent a cloudy day here and it was fantastic! Everything was just right for our 4 and 6 year old children. The staff were friendly and very understanding of our limited French. The cafe was great with fresh pizzas, local ice cream. Highly recommended!
Gill C — Google review
We had a delicious pizza before playing the golf. The food was cooked to order so it was not instant. Some of the holes seemed virtually impossible, but that was part of the fun
Nigel W — Google review
Awesome pizzeria in a cosy environment under the trees. The pizzas are really well made and cooked to perfection! It takes a good chef to make a dough stand out in a pizza, and here they really succeed. Will stop by every time i m in the neighbourhood!

Very friendly staff. Lots of things to do to keep your children occupied. Basically a playground in the forest. The forest canopy does well in keeping the heat out. Spent a nice afternoon there.
