National reserve
Salinas do Samouco, Fundação para protecção e Gestão Ambiental is an ecological sanctuary near Lisbon, offering a profound encounter with nature. It's home to rich migratory bird species and unique ecosystems. Visitors can enjoy the birds' songs, colors, and graceful flights while exploring well-signed routes through a unique landscape. The area provides close access to public transport, which is not typical for hiking areas around Lisbon.
Very friendly reception and great walk among the birds and salt pits
José M — Google review
We had a walking tour organized by Caminhando and, of course, wanted to see Flamingos. Our guide, Luis, is part of this Sanilas do Samouco wildlife reserve. He was amazing, passionate about the environment, and birds and made our visit memorable. There are tree routes you can take green, being longest and yellow the shortest. Walking was easy. We made frequent stops to see all kinds of birds. We were given binoculars, which was amazing. Unfortunately, the weather was horrible, very cold with strong wind gusts, which, of course, made this experience different. I am also not a big fan of birds, but visit to the salt production facilities as well as very cute and sociable donkeys made my day. This time of the year (end of November), we only saw a handful of flamingos, and they weren't pink.
Ksenia H — Google review
Lovely place for a walk, lots of birds to see and well marked trails. Came here before the shopping outlet. The town is very pretty too for lunch.
Rachel F — Google review
Nice place around the old and active saltpans Some trails around the area, when raining some may be very muddy. Nice strolls, great scenery and some birds around.
Vasco V — Google review
Nice place for birdwatching. There are several routes, ones bigger than others. Please allow plenty of time to visit this place, so you can contemplate the variety of birds. Throughout the routes, there are designated places for birdwatching, where you can just sit and observe. There is an entry fee. Highly recommended.
Sónia M — Google review
We walked by here not knowing what you expect and it’s such a nice area! We didn’t see any flamingos but will go back again for sure. They have very cute and friendly donkeys. You can watch the guys collecting salt and can buy some on the way out!
Nicole — Google review
I was not let in when I visited the place at 4pm, even though 1 hour might be enough to walk around a bit considering that the longest route is ~4.5km. The staff was NOT friendly at all… I felt like being forced out. As a person who have worked/volunteered at several bird observatories, I expected to be introduced to the birds of the observatory, at least by pictures or somewhat. I was not disappointed just because I actually did not visit this area for the bird observatory and because I watched greater flamingos, stilts, gulls, and sandpipers at a marsh nearby. Wish I brought my binoculars so that I could identify all the cute sandpipers. Hope they make it clear when the last entrance time is.
Yeon J — Google review
Just outside of Lisbon you have a paradise of nature, wildlife and silence... The views of the Tejo river and the Vasco da Gama bridge just add to the magical nature of this place... As an add on you can visit the abandoned cod fish salting factory that looks as impressive as it looks eerie... If you walk quietly through the paths you can forget how close you are from a major city, it's truly magnificent.

Factory Outlets
Located just a 45-minute drive from Lisbon, Freeport Fashion Outlet is a sizable outlet center offering a wide range of upscale boutiques, shoe stores, and gift shops. With over 100 renowned brands like Armani, Dolce & Gabbana, and Carolina Herrera, shoppers can enjoy discounts of up to 70%. The outlet also provides convenient amenities such as shuttle services to and from Lisbon, a kids' area, and various dining options.
Now that was an amazing shopping experience. An open-air outlet is so much better than an indoor mall — you get a completely different vibe.
Emran S — Google review
It’s a nice and pleasant drive, but I found the prices quite similar to the ones in Norway. Took my son about 20 minutes to get an ice scream scoop with only a table seated. Hard to understand Had problems with the tax free as not all workers are informed about the rules between Norway and European Union.
Tiago C — Google review
Nice complex, with easy access and ample parking. Many shops but not all have the same quality products as the normal shops on town. More outlet shops… prices are competitive if you look for deals. All in all not bad
Guy H — Google review
Open-air outlet with a nice layout. I was expecting more summer clearance deals, but most stores were already preparing for the winter season. Still, it’s a pleasant spot to walk around, with a good mix of popular brands.
TTT — Google review
Such a hidden gem just outside of Lisbon! I spent two full days shopping here because it’s full of designer stores at really affordable prices that you wouldn’t get anywhere else. There are also clean bathrooms and places to eat so you can spend a lot of time.
Kirsee A — Google review
I like this kind mall, you can enjoy outside and inside shops, maybe not all shops in my budget, but some of in very good price quality balance :)
Denis W — Google review
Nice outdoor shopping center. Lots of stores from famous international brands, plus numerous local shops that we not familiar with. We went on a Monday and it was not at all crowded. In fact it was quiet and pleasent to walk around.
Todd S — Google review
We were lucky it was a beautiful November day when we went to Freeport. I was a bit afraid as it rained the days prior and there are no covered passages in this place. To go from shop to shop, if it's raining, you will get wet. If it's hot, you will melt. But there are a lot of great shops with good, end of collection/season deals. It's worth a visit.

Italian restaurant
Bar
Nestled in the heart of Praia do Sal, Omaggio Restaurant is a delightful homage to authentic Italian cuisine. With a menu that goes beyond the classic pizzas and pastas, it invites diners to explore a rich tapestry of regional flavors and artisanal dishes. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, enhanced by live music that adds to the dining experience. While there may be occasional service hiccups—like drinks arriving after meals—the overall vibe remains charming.
One of my fave restaurants, had vegan options, the vegan pasta was incredible and the virgin drinks are unbelievably delicious 🥰. 10/10recommend and the ambience sets the whole place !
Beauty R — Google review
I came here for the cheesecake that I saw on their social media page. It did not disappoint. The two ladies who assisted me were lovely.
Katrina M — Google review
The atmosphere and design of the place are quite nice, creating a pleasant setting. Unfortunately, both the food and service were disappointing. I ordered the ossobuco, which should be tender and flavorful, but instead received a tough, rubbery piece of meat. The pizza looked appealing but didn’t deliver on taste. While it’s a decent spot for coffee and ambiance, I wouldn’t recommend it for the food.
Viktoriya Z — Google review
We had a lasagna and two pizza Diavolo and it was all perfect and tasted so good. It is very quiet and pleasant inside and we really did not have to wait long for our food. We can really recommend the pizzas and the lasages. Perfect!!
Lukas G — Google review
A very good experience... the restaurant is part of a 4 star resort and has a relaxed atmosphere (inside it is fancier). The service was just pleasant and friendly. The location is also nice, close to parking places and at walking distance of Alcochete. The food was very good with special highlight to the entry dish "Burrata" and the dessert Ommagio icecream. The caipirinhas also to be recommended...
Nuno R — Google review
It’s a nice ambiance and they had a great singer when we were there. There wasn’t enough staff and they didn’t consider the flow of our meal properly. We got our entire food order quite a while before they brought our drinks. And we got a bottle of wine which we thought we’d enjoy before and during the meal, not afterwards. They have a real pizza oven so we thought the pizza would be great but it was not as good as we thought - but it was still very nice. I’d recommend to skip the bread starter. The prices are good. The chocolate truffle was amazing and the tiramisu was awful.
Nicole — Google review
Restaurant is attached to the hotel. Ate here almost twice a day during my stay. Food was delicious, services are mixed, some are attentive and courteous, some are not attentive at all. In 2 occasions bread was not served for dinner where adjacent tables did. They have shows on weekends

Restaurant
Barrete Verde is a restaurant in Alcochete, Portugal that reflects the local tradition of bullfighting. The decor is adorned with paraphernalia related to bullfighting, creating an atmosphere that resonates with the local love for this activity.
I had a fantastic experience at this charming, traditional restaurant. We were warmly received by the host, whose family own and run the restaurant with the passion and pride of toureiros. The food was cooked with love, and the generous portions were packed with flavour. I will be a regular here from now on. Update - I'm a regular at Barrete Verde now, and it's consistently excellent. You should definitely call ahead and reserve a place though, especially on weekends. Update - Still the best. I've eaten here tons of times and they never disappoint. It's a gem of a restaurant where you can taste the love.

This restaurant has a traditional decoration related with bull fights, typical from this region. The staff was friendly and the service normal and fast. The food was very well done. All the dishes ordered were very good... and pricewise very interesting. The cheesecake is delicious.

What a brilliant, lively, authentic local restaurant. We had a very enjoyable meal here on our last night in Portugal. Attentive service despite being really busy, good, honest food served in generous portions. We had both meat and fish and both were really well cooked and delicious. Nature preserve
The Tagus Estuary Nature Reserve is a protected area and the largest wetland in Portugal, located south of Santarem. It's a marshland rich in mollusks and crustaceans, serving as a nursery for various marine fish species. The reserve is an important habitat for waterfowl, with around 120,000 wintering individuals including ducks, shorebirds, flamingos, wild geese, and black-breasted hawks.
A really calm and tranquil place. It was quite enjoyable to walk the very long food path directly through the reservoir. You have a good view on the river and the city. In the evening you can clearly see the sunset here and in the morning the sunrise. While I walked for about an hour I met three other people so it's safe to say it is not very populated. Recommend this place when you want a quiet place to think, relax or reflect on your thoughts. Just make sure you don't wander off the path so you don't damage the reservoir.

Place of worship
Igreja do Samouco, also known as Igreja de São Brás, is a charming 16th-century church located in the center of Samouco. The interior is adorned with intricate tiles depicting the life of São Brás, and the church has undergone several renovations over the years, resulting in a stunning baroque facade. The parish has roots dating back to the 13th century when small riverside settlements emerged due to salt exploration.
(Translated by Google) Very beautiful 16th century Baroque style church. (Original) Igreja quinhentista em estilo Barroco muito bonita.
Antonio P — Google review
(Translated by Google) The origins of the parish date back to the 13th century with the appearance of small riverside settlements, including the village of Samouco in 1241, most of them related to the exploration of Salinas and consequent salt production. The settlement of the then place of Samouco began in the 12th and 13th centuries, based on the settlement of people, attracted by the work existing in the exploration of farms in the territory, whose agricultural production supplied Lisbon. The territory that currently corresponds to the parish of Samouco has always been quite fertile and suitable for growing vineyards, oranges, figs, wheat and rye, potatoes and onions. Also noteworthy is the forest and pine forest cutting business, which was also quite profitable. The proximity to the river proved to be an important factor, both for the transport of agricultural products produced and in the formation of urban centers in this location from the mid-13th century to the beginning of the 14th century. The geographical situation of Samouco, combined with the recognized fertility of the soils, favored its development as a riverside space on the south bank of the Tagus. Samouco is a very old town, which can be seen in the houses typical of the riverside areas. Very well preserved, it is a good place to stroll and look at the past. Next to the river we have a magnificent landscape over the Tagus River with views of the other bank, Lisbon, from the Vasco da Gama Bridge to the 25 de Abril Bridge. The paraphytic pier is a landmark on this bank of the Tagus River. Visit, near Alcochete.

Monumento Ao Salineiro is a monumental statue in the center of Alcochete, paying tribute to the salt miners who played a significant role in the area's history. The statue, designed by sculptor Francisco Simoes and unveiled in 1985, stands as a symbol of the economic importance of sea salt production and its professionals during that era.
(Translated by Google) Alcochete was once a land of sea salt production, in addition to the drying of cod. Reason enough, given its economic importance at the time, to erect this statue as a symbol of the importance that this activity and its professionals had in this land. Alcochete is, today, a beautiful town facing the Tagus River and with a balcony on the north bank, with views from Vila Franca de Xira to downtown Lisbon. It is worth visiting.
