Nestled within the scenic 60 acres of Doon Heritage Village, this living history museum offers a delightful glimpse into life as it was in 1914. Wander through a charming rural village featuring 20 meticulously furnished historic buildings, including shops and barns, all brought to life by costumed interpreters who embody the spirit of the era.
I had a lovely time here. If you love to know about the history of old buildings and places, you must visit this village. My kids loved it. They also have activity tables for kids where they can make art and crafts.
Teena D — Google review
It's been many years since I've been here. It was interesting to see how the people had lived thier lives back then. You seen how they dressed, worked and schooling. We have come along ways since then. But it's nice to see the history they had here along time ago.
Tami S — Google review
Doon Village Heritage is a hidden gem! The historic buildings, costumed staff, and hands-on activities bring Ontario’s past to life in a fun and engaging way. It’s beautifully maintained, educational, and perfect for families or anyone who loves history. Great for School Trips, Family Time and Events. Highly recommended!
BARRY G — Google review
i visited the village earlier with my family and we had a blast! it was so interesting to be able to see what the people of the past used to live like! the guides were all very informative and were more than willing to answer any questions they were asked

I’ve loved this place since I was a kid. Since moving out of Kitchener, I’ve brought friends and now my own children here multiple times. It’s really a gem!
Aisling D — Google review
So good to do the lantern tour, missed being inside the homes, enjoyed the interaction with interpreters outside & apple cider & shortbread cookie
SHAUNA C — Google review
Went for a kids Halloween event, paid quite a bit of money and it was a huge disappointment. Only two of the little stores in the village were open, there wasn’t much to see at all. It was supposed to be a trick or treating event but my kids got maybe 5 small pieces of candy. Not at all worth it for the price.
Samantha B — Google review
The staff are very friendly, so many good things to see here and everything is so well-planned. A good place to bring kids.

Schneider Haus National Historic Site, located in Kitchener, Ontario, is the area's oldest dwelling dating back to 1856. The site features a farmhouse and costumed living-history interpreters who bring the 19th-century home to life. As a living history museum, Schneider Haus offers an authentic glimpse into the region's past with period-costumed staff demonstrating traditional tasks and explaining daily life in the 1800s.
Very fun, not at all what I expected. Was here for a birthday on the weekend. The kids enjoyed crafts and the play room. Unrelated to the kids, I was pleasantly surprised to see that they support women's health boxes in the bathroom. These need to be everywhere.❤️🙌🏼
C O — Google review
We visited Schneider Haus National Historic Site on a Sunday afternoon. The house is 169 years old, and it’s open Sundays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Normally, admission is $7 for adults, $4 for kids (5–12), and free for kids under 4. They also have a family pass for $16 (two adults and dependent kids). We got a library pass, so it was free for us! Parking was easy and free, right across from the museum on Queen Street. It wasn’t crowded at all, and the staff were super nice and welcoming. Photography is allowed inside. Only the main floor was open to visitors — the second floor (through the front door) is just for staff. On the main floor, there’s a kids’ area with lots of crafts and games, and even a birthday party area. It’s a fun little spot for younger kids. If you go left after entering, you reach the old house part — it felt a little spooky! Staff mentioned that all ghost rumours are just fake stories. The rooms are clean, but the lower level was really cold and honestly felt pretty creepy to me. Maybe you’ll feel its normal though :D
Anju N — Google review
What an absolute gem! First time visiting with my four young children and we had a wonderful time. The front portion of the main building is historic with artifacts. The back portion of the building has three new spaces for children to explore, a maker space, and two play spaces. The spaces kept my little ones (ages range from 3-8) engaged for hours and they still didn't want to leave. There are also outdoor spaces and buildings to explore on a tour. The March Break kitchen science experiments were very engaging and we all learned a lot. The staff and volunteers were absolutely wonderful - very knowledgeable and patient. They engaged well with the children. There is a little gift shop and a few snacks and drinks to purchase.
Angela L — Google review
On Sunday, I attended a cheesy bread making class at Scneider Haus. The instructor was friendly. The recipe was easy to follow and really yummy. While the dough was rising, we got to have snacks and explore the historic location. The bread was baked in a historic wood burning oven. We had an amazing time. Would strongly recommend. Great for all ages.
Lyudmyla P — Google review
This was one of the first homes built in Waterloo region, by Mennonites from Pennsylvnia in 1816. We went on a Sunday morning, tickets were cheap, and there were no crowds. Inside, the original interior is well preserved with plenty of artifacts, giving a glimpse of daily life back in the day. Several friendly staff members were walking around, offering to give tours and answer any questions you may have about the house's history and the family that once inhabited it. There is no parking on-site, instead it is recommended to park near Victoria Park, and the house is not wheelchair accessible, due to its age.
Steven H — Google review
It was part of Open Doors Ontario 2025. You were able to tour the house and its grounds. As well as ask questions they were individuals on hand to ask questions. Mr. Schneider was the founder of Schneiders meats.
Marilyn D — Google review
Beautifully maintained and lots to view! I wish there were more tour guides or if they were located in varying locations throughout the property. I couldn’t access the app to tell me the history of the home so we just viewed. I would return but would schedule a tour or plan better next time by ensuring I could access all information to make the history come alive.

Great place to spend a few hours with the family. $18 including tax for a family of 4 Free parking available across the street They have a new modern play/craft area that is wonderful for children. Many craft materials including clay, tape, glue, scissors, cardboard, popsicle sticks, markers, paint sticks, paper, etc The staff working there is also super kind.

Specialty Museums
THEMUSEUM in Kitchener is a modern and unique cultural destination that offers a blend of art, science, and technology. With five floors of interactive exhibits, it caters to both adults and children. The museum features rotating temporary exhibitions alongside permanent interactive installations. One current exhibition, IMPOSSIBLE GEOMETRIES, showcases ten immersive digital art scenes that explore visual design and interaction. Additionally, THEMUSEUM hosts live shows and creative workshops as part of its regularly changing events.
So full disclosure I used my canoo app to gain entry which is free. But for four people it’s around $40 which is not bad because you get so spend unlimited time here. I highly recommend this for children and toddlers. There are multiple levels. And each day a show for the younger crowd. On the day we went it was a dinosaur show which everyone enjoyed. If you go in the morning it’s not crowded at all the rush around started post lunch time and we left by then. There’s nursing room on the 3rd floor. And almost each floor you will find seating. You are allowed to bring your own meal and eat at the ground floor. Don’t miss out the science section in the basement. So much fun. They also rent out for birthdays and events which I believe is fun for children. Stroller friendly place. tonnes to Do. There’s ball pit and painting and water games. Lots of fun. Easily can spend 3-4 hours here.

The sold out Mac and Cheese and Beer Fest was probably the most amazing event I’ve been to in KW. It was my 5th time and as many have pointed out the new pricing model and fewer vendors definitely impact the quality of the experience negatively. I hope there is someone on staff with institutional memory going back to say 2018 who would be willing to recreate that vibe. We will still come back in the future but we hope that the event will go back to the old model of being able to sample more or less all products. In other words I would like to feel stuffed before I ran out of coupons and not have to do mental math which samples I can “afford”. I would be happy to pass this feedback through other channels if those exist.

Had a nice visit! This place is great for 10 and under. Schools bring kids here. However, there are quite a few interesting things for a kid in their early teens. My early teen enjoyed her day! It takes about 2.5-3 hours to do everything in this 3 level museum. There is also a makerspace in the basement; some activities in the basement are extra, and some are free. We paid around $11 to make a kaleidoscope craft that is supposed to add to the kaleidoscope exhibit. It didn't really add much to the exhibit, but it was a good craft to do where she learned to drill with a power drill. It took about 50 min. to make it. It was kind of like a Kiwi kit. My daughter seemed pleased with it. When my kids were young, we got a membership, and it was definitely worth it! Younger kids love the water table! Tip: Make sure you ask when the StarLab Star Show times are. They didnt tell me at the front desk, so we were in the basement of the building in the Makerspace, and we didn't want to leave our craft half done when we heard the announcement, so we had to wait around for the later show time. 2 show times currently: 11:30 & 2:30. Show was 22 min in length. My teen loved the vortex tunnel! Washrooms: Yes, there are washrooms on every level. Their main floor's washrooms had run out of soap though. They had added a lot of water to a dispenser, and there was virtually no soap. The water table was filled with bugs or something. See my pics. Food: There is no food here except slushies in the store in The Museum. There is a vending machine, but it is broken. You are allowed to bring your own lunch here, and there are picnic tables on every level. The main floor has also chairs, high chairs, and a water bottle filling station. Parking: You can park at Duke Street paid Parking Garage and walk directly into the museum from the main level of the garage. This is your best option. You can get 2 hour free street parking near The Museum. Wheelchair accessibility: They have elevators on every floor.

Great experience for our kids to explore and take part in a lot of interactive activities. Exhibit flows well from one to the next - will definitely visit again.

Absolutely phenomenal experience! Today was my son’s very first day at THEMUSEUM day camp, and I honestly can’t say enough good things. From the moment we arrived, the staff were so kind, welcoming, and engaging. The facility itself is incredible creative, vibrant, and full of hands-on learning opportunities. What truly blew me away was how much my son loved it. He didn’t want to leave at the end of the day — which, as a parent of a child who faces some mental health struggles, is amazing to see. It’s not often he connects so quickly with a new place or group, but the environment and staff clearly made him feel safe, excited, and included. Huge thanks to the team at THEMUSEUM for creating such a positive, inspiring space for kids. We’ll absolutely be back you’ve made a lasting impression on both of us! 💛
Nikki P — Google review
Was not that busy so kids were able to experience all activities. This museum is more suitable to younger children so if you have mix age groups, may not be the best. Overall, I did enjoy seeing my little explorer having fun!
Dorothy K — Google review
I took my 3 1/2 year old grandson. He had a great time! All kinds of interactive experiences for him, A perfect couple of hours for a high energy toddler. The first thing he saw when we walked in was a big open room with giant, soft blocks. That was it, he was off climbing them! The staff were all very friendly. Parking garage with easy access to The Museum. I would take him back.
David B — Google review
We visited on a Monday at 10:10am. They open at 10:00. It was empty. We paid $16.99 for seniors, which is 55 and up. She asked to see ID. There’s 4 floors and washrooms on each floor. This place is great for parents with kids. There isn’t much to do for adults. We did the virtual short movie- 9 minutes on the jungle meets the water. There’s 4 movies and some are 13 minutes long. You could spend close to an hour here if you watch all 4 movies. It’s not suitable for people who have vertigo because you can get dizzy. I also liked the immersive room. Kids will really like this room. The gift shop was closed at 11:00 and the employee said to give it another 20 minutes till opening. We did not see the dinosaur or some of the other stuff posted on their website. But I read that they change their exhibits from time to time. There also is no place to get something to eat. There was an area that said lounge with lots of chairs but that was closed. The place has elevators and is wheel chair accessible. There is parking connected to the museum and we paid $7 for 2 hours. We arrived an hour before the museum opened and were shocked to see a lot of homeless people walking around or in groups in front of some stores. And you could clearly some were high on drugs. Very sad. We didn’t feel safe to walk around. So we went into a coffee shop across from the museum. Later we saw a few police cars and some of the people seemed to move to another area. But this museum is worth the visit and we’re glad we did.

Woodside National Historic Site is the preserved Victorian home of William Lyon Mackenzie King, Canada's longest-serving Prime Minister. The house was built in 1853 and has been restored to its original Victorian style, featuring family heirlooms of the King family. Situated on nearly 12 acres of wooded grounds and gardens, the site offers a glimpse into King's early life through period furnishings and personal artifacts.
A hidden gem in Kitchener. The historical house is only open October-December but the grounds are open year round. There's a covered patio area with lots of tables and seating as well as a large nicely groomed lawn/ perfect for gatherings with friends and family. Surrounding the area is a beautiful old-growth area with well maintained foot paths and an old train track. We saw lots of blue Jays!
Jen L — Google review
Did not actually visit the museum due to it being off season, but this is such a hidden gem of an area in terms of nature. My only concern is the fountain/pond that REALLY needs to be emptied and refilled. Definitely a lot of algae and still water that could be harbouring serious mosquitoes
_Crystal — Google review
This is an excellent place to walk or bring a lunch! The building and grounds near it are very well kept. The farther areas near the train tracks are sometimes forgotten about, but the tall grass is good for the bunnies and fireflies. Love this place. BUT please do something about that pond. It's getting so rough, I had a frog jump out with a leather jacket and a switch blade and ask for my phone.

Woodside Park in Kitchener is one of the city’s most peaceful and beautiful green spaces, perfect for a relaxing day outdoors. Located near downtown, it’s a large park filled with tall trees, open lawns, and walking trails that make it a great escape from the busy city life. The park is especially popular with families, joggers, and people who enjoy picnics or quiet nature walks. One of the highlights of Woodside Park is its connection to the historic Woodside National Historic Site, the childhood home of William Lyon Mackenzie King, Canada’s longest-serving Prime Minister. The area is well maintained, with benches, shaded areas, and lots of greenery that changes beautifully with the seasons—from bright blossoms in spring to colorful leaves in fall. It’s a great place for photography, light exercise, or just sitting back and enjoying the fresh air. The park also attracts wildlife like birds and squirrels, adding to its calm and natural charm. Whether you’re looking for a spot to read, take a stroll, or spend quality time with friends, Woodside Park offers a perfect blend of history, nature, and tranquility right in the heart of Kitchener.

The Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery is a must-visit for art enthusiasts, showcasing over 4,000 works of contemporary visual arts from local, national, and international artists. As the leading public art gallery in the Waterloo Region, it offers a diverse collection ranging from historical to modern pieces. The gallery hosts temporary exhibitions covering various themes and also provides educational programs, workshops, guided tours, and lectures.
Will definitely be visiting again soon! Can’t believe I took this long to check out my local art gallery but wow was it lovely! Spent about an hour by myself exploring the art. It was fairly quiet on a weekday. It is free admission but you can donate to the gallery with cash or tap if you’d like. The staff was helpful when I told her it was my first time and told me about the exhibits.I loved the variety of art and the artists showcased. The experiences were immersive (sound, smell, visuals, and interaction). There were free art books and poetry to take home related to the exhibits. I will be back!

This local art gallery was so lovely to visit. Admission is free. With large scale exhibitions spanning a range of topics, excellent curation, and a variety of mediums - including aural and interactive art. Our favourite exhibition was about "The Hag" and was so stunningly beautiful my partner and I stayed in the exhibition room in awe for longer than we thought possible. They also have a small collection of art books for sale outside the exhibition hall. There is a paid parking lot and some free street parking up the road if you are willing to walk a bit longer. Currently undergoing renovations, the building is unable to offer washroom access temporarily.

As a common art practitioner who appreciates art from either a complex or simplest form. I greatly admire the work of other artists who's perfecting their craft, including those that are rediscovering theirs. For a free admission gallery, I say the exhibit is a great place to visit.

The Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum is a must-visit for both locals and tourists, offering a fascinating journey through the history of Waterloo. The museum features engaging exhibits that showcase the region's rich heritage. One of its highlights is the 24-acre Doon Heritage Village, providing an immersive experience of the past. Visitors can explore various historical buildings and learn about life in earlier times.
The Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum is a large and well-maintained museum, great for both learning and photography. I recently visited for a photoshoot and found the exhibits well-organized and informative. One highlight was the train model, which was detailed and fascinating to see. The admission price is $12 for adults, which is reasonable for the experience. There are exhibits related to St. Mary’s Hospital, showcasing interesting medical aspects for the visitors. The museum is especially good for kids, offering free events and educational programs. I previously attended a summer camp here, which was a fun and enriching experience. In the winter, the outdoor areas are closed, which is something to keep in mind if you’re planning a visit. However, there is still plenty to see indoors. The museum does a great job preserving local history and making it engaging for visitors of all ages. Overall, this is a fantastic place to explore, whether for learning, photography, or family outings. If you’re in the Waterloo region, it’s definitely worth a visit!

Quaint little Museum. Some interesting local history. Went during March break around 3 o’clock. They had some cool daily activities that week. Didn’t realize they closed at 4 PM and we were not warned at the front so we had to rush through the museum in about 15 minutes following our 30min planetarium activity with the University of Guelph. Sufficient parking and easy to find otherwise. Great location to grab food down the street.

Fun visit with friends last week on a PD day. It was sad to see very few people here. Inside is a very beautiful exhibit of local Waterloo region history and artifacts. VERY disappointed, though, that the pioneer village has been closed for so long. You are able to walk around and see the outside of the buildings, but that's about it. These days, this generation needs to know how people lived back then, before technology. We need immersive history lessons and displays. I hope the village opens again soon.

such a great place to learn about Waterloo, sad to see that there wasn’t that many people visiting on a weekend. tickets are discounted for UW students! would love to visit the heritage village when it opens next year ☺️

Is a great place for kids to have birthday parties, tours and learn about Waterloo history. It’s important for us to have heritage of the region celebrated and this place does it very well in a beautifully designed building and exterior Martin house and town centre. Lots to do and see. Won’t be disappointed.

Well maintained museum of Waterloo Region history. It was very quiet on Civic Day Monday. Great place to visit no matter how long you lived in the region. Unfortunately the doon village ground is closed for the summer.
Zimo W — Google review
Very inviting exhibitions, I really liked how they are designed to grab a visitor's attention. The video installation about immigration experiences and the Hazel wheel became my favorite pieces
Arik S — Google review
The Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum is a standout destination for photographers who appreciate architecture, history, and storytelling through space and design. As the largest community museum in Ontario, it offers a compelling mix of modern exhibits, heritage structures, and vibrant visual contrasts that make it a rewarding site to explore with a camera. The museum’s architecture itself is a work of art — sleek, contemporary, and filled with natural light. Its glass façade reflects the surrounding greenery and shifting skies, while inside, clean lines and open layouts create beautiful compositions that highlight both form and function. Photographers interested in architectural detail will find plenty of inspiration in the interplay between glass, wood, and steel throughout the building. Beyond the modern design, the museum connects directly to Doon Heritage Village, a meticulously restored early 20th-century living history site. This outdoor area is a treasure trove of photo opportunities: dirt paths winding between period buildings, heritage gardens, wooden barns, and costumed interpreters who bring the past to life. Each corner feels authentic and atmospheric, especially in the soft light of morning or golden hour. Inside the museum, exhibitions explore the story of the Waterloo Region through artifacts, interactive displays, and vivid installations. Low-light photography skills can be put to good use here, capturing the textures of old machinery, the glow of display lighting, or intimate details of historical objects. Throughout the year, the museum hosts seasonal events — from vintage festivals to holiday celebrations — that add lively, candid photographic subjects. The mix of architecture, landscape, and human presence makes it equally suitable for wide environmental shots and close, story-driven portraits. For photographers, the Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum offers more than just visuals — it’s a dialogue between past and present, structure and story. Whether you’re capturing the minimalist modernity of the main building or the rustic charm of the heritage village, it’s one of southern Ontario’s most visually and historically rewarding locations.

Chicopee is a well-known year-round resort located in Kitchener, Ontario. It offers a variety of activities for all seasons, including skiing, snowboarding, snow tubing, mountain biking trails, and disc golf. The ski hill at Chicopee is relatively small with 11 runs and a maximum vertical drop of 200ft (61m), making it an ideal place for beginners and families.
Chicopee was a pleasant experience, it was our first time there. The lift tickets are priced competitively to other similar sized facilities. The lodge and lift lines were properly staffed and flowing well. The hill was maintained nicely while we were there. We would recommend Chicopee and will be going back .
Pawel Z — Google review
Great place to start if you’re a beginner. Hills are well maintained and groomed. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Their rentals are really high quality and name brand. The magic carpet at the beginner centre is not working due to the place waiting on parts. The wait times for the lifts were not bad on Saturday. The staff were very fair when organizing the flow of people on the lifts. Only 1 out of the 2 lifts were available. Would’ve love to see more trail maps around. Restaurant and quick stop and go available. Plenty of options from mains, snacks, and drinks to choose from. Pricing for food was reasonable.
Patricia M — Google review
We have been here a few times over the years and always had a good experience, staff is helpful, the lineups are never too big(on the days we go), the terrain is a good mix for beginners - intermediate. March 9 and the base was deep, snow soft in the sun - 2024/2025 winter will be one for the books. I cannot speak to the cafeteria, or food options as we packed our own. I’ve been skiing and snowboarding for 30 years in Ontario but we always went up north - however, as I’ve learned recently, Chicopee appears to be the best choice in the area (within 1 hour of Hamilton.

An engaging introductory skiibg experience. A trainer provides encouragement and support for the initial two slides. Independent learning commences from the third segment onward. The session's advertised 50-minute duration is misleading; instructional content comprises only 30 minutes. The $120 fee represents poor value for an ineffective group session. Accompanying an experienced individual is recommended to enhance the learning experience.
PRIYESH P — Google review
Chicopee is a great place for kids to learn to ski! My boys had a fantastic time - friendly and patient instructors made the lessons enjoyable, and the manageable hill size was perfect for young beginners. Even on weekends, the lift lines weren’t too long.
Lindie — Google review
Cute ski hill with just enough hills for a day of skiing! Perfect for beginners and enough of a challenge on their black diamond. The staff are so kind and helpful. My daughter's come here for lessons and after many tears before their first lesson they were reluctant to leave after their first lesson. They loved it and we're hooked after lesson #1. The parents typically ski while kids are in their lesson or enjoy a glass of wine in the lodge. Food is excellent as well! And live music in the evening! Love it.
Kairi W — Google review
Great place to learn how to ski. Especially great for younger children who can take advantage of the fantastic learning to ski programs offered at this hill. Best part is that it’s so close to the GTA and offers really convenient access. Basically you can pull up right next to the hill, unload all your gear and get ready for the day. The restaurant offers a really good breakfast at a reasonable price which is perfect for parents waiting on their kids who are enrolled in ski lessons. Highly recommend this place. Good stepping stone before hitting the bigger hills. Gives kids and adults a level of comfort and ability to practice their skills.
Darren C — Google review
This is a good learning hill. It's small and the lines are long, but it's a good local option without having to drive far on a weekly basis for lessons for the kids. There are three lifts and depending on who is working them, often, each chair is not at capacity (i.e. there is only one or two people on the 3- or 4-person chairlift). I get some people may not be comfortable sharing, but that contributes to the long lines. The staff have been kind and helpful, as my daughter was more advanced than her initial group and the instructors had no problems changing her group. We have our own equipment, so I can't speak to the rental experience, but I see the line-ups are often long. There's a small terrain park that the kids enjoy, and which typically has a much shorter line-up. The staff keep some fires going outside, which is a nice way to warm up the hands a bit in-between runs. Again, it's a good hill to learn to ski, but if you're a regular skier, you'll find the runs short and will likely find a better experience elsewhere. Still, it's a good option to spend a day out with the family.

Kid friendly, picnic friendly. This trail is well marked and well maintained! Large grassy areas for play and picnic. For those looking for a hike the park has 6 easy trails. The marks are easy to find and follow. The trails are very well maintained! Also, the red trail is paved and wheelchair accessible. The others vary from gravel to dirt. Regular shoes can do well on all these trails but prefer to use hiking shoes for the dirt only trails. The trail around the lake had plaques telling the story of a turtle and its community! It's a great way to get children excited about finding the next piece of the story on the trail.

I recently hiked this trail on a crisp afternoon, and it exceeded expectations! The trail was incredibly well-maintained, making for a smooth and enjoyable journey. The Autumn colors were breathtaking, with vibrant hues of orange, red, and yellow surrounding me every step of the way. This place is a regular for my wife and I. Excellent place for hike and good space to hangout with friends and family. Has restroom and sufficient parking area. Do be careful of the mosquitoes and make sure you keep a track of the way you get into the trail, it’s a little confusing and dark in some areas.

Beautiful trails to walk mornings and evenings. Great views of trees and ponds with turtles of you are lucky to spot. It gets colder as you enter the dense trails, good to carry a jacket or sweater even in spring and autumn! Kids have a sand play area and restrooms if needed. Few parking spots in the entry, might have to wait.

The trail takes you through a stunning, densely forested area. The beauty of nature truly shines during the fall season. The trail surrounds a well-maintained, tiny pond, and there’s even a natural play area for kids to enjoy. Keep in mind that during peak seasons, the parking lot tends to fill up quickly, so street parking might be necessary.

Farmers' market
Nestled in the heart of Ontario, St. Jacobs Farmers' Market is a vibrant year-round destination that captures the essence of country charm. This bustling marketplace has evolved since its humble beginnings in the 20th century, now sprawling over an impressive 3,200 square meters and welcoming nearly a million visitors annually. Here, you can find everything from fresh produce—like juicy peaches and pickling cucumbers—to unique crafts and antiques.
St. Jacob’s Farmers’ Market is by far one of the best markets in Ontario and a must-visit for anyone in the Waterloo region. The design of the market is clean, spacious, and very well organized, making it easy to walk through and explore. It’s a large market with an incredible variety of foods, drinks, handcrafted items, antiques, and specialty goods. There’s truly something for everyone here, and it’s the kind of place you can spend hours browsing. What really stands out is the atmosphere – it’s fun, lively, and family-friendly. Families with kids will find plenty of things to enjoy, from watching food being made fresh to sampling delicious treats along the way. The energy of the vendors and the friendliness of the staff make the experience even more enjoyable. Food lovers will not be disappointed. I highly recommend trying the pasta served in a parmesan cheese wheel – rich, creamy, and unforgettable. The fried apples are another must-try, perfectly crispy and sweet. Pair these with a cup of freshly brewed coffee from one of the many stands, and you’ll feel like you’re in food heaven. Beyond the prepared foods, you can also pick up fresh produce, meats, cheeses, baked goods, and unique handmade products to take home. Overall, St. Jacob’s Farmers’ Market is a wonderful blend of tradition, quality, and community. Highly recommended!
Pedram N — Google review
I’ve been to this farm market multiple times, and it’s easily one of my favorite spots. It’s a really nice and popular place where you can find tons of great organic and local products. Honestly, I’m even considering driving here once a month from Toronto just to stock up on veggies. Prices are pretty reasonable, but it’s worth shopping around a bit since some vendors have better deals than others. Most things are sold in larger quantities, which might be tricky if you don’t have much storage space, but the quality is excellent, everything’s super fresh, and it’s hard not to buy everything in sight! Parking can be a bit of a hassle, though. I recommend parking across the street in the antique store’s lot and walking over, it saves a lot of time and stress. Definitely try to avoid weekends and holidays if you can, because it gets very crowded. Here’s a tip: in the last hour or two before closing, many vendors start offering discounts, so you can snag some really good deals. The lineup for the famous apple pie shop is always crazy long, expect to wait 45 minutes to an hour. If you can, go on a weekday or send someone from your group to hold your spot. Food-wise, the bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich from the Amish ladies’ stand is a must-try. The loaded fries are another favourite, not exactly healthy, but super tasty and big enough to share with 3–4 people. And if you’re driving from Toronto, it’s also worth checking out the antique store across the street. You’ll find lots of cool vintage and one-of-a-kind items there.

St. Jacobs Farmers’ Market is a must-visit destination in the Waterloo region. It is conveniently located and easy to reach by car, with direct access from major city roads. However, despite having a large parking area, finding a spot can still be challenging during peak hours—especially on weekends and market days—so plan to arrive early. The market has a lively, friendly, and authentic community atmosphere. One of the most unique aspects of St. Jacobs Market is the visible presence of the local Mennonite community. Many Mennonite farmers and artisans sell their products here, bringing a charming traditional touch to the market experience. You will often see horse-and-buggy transportation nearby, and many of the vendors offer high-quality, fresh, and handmade goods that reflect the Mennonite values of simplicity, authenticity, and craftsmanship. Product selection is excellent: farm-fresh produce, meats, cheeses, baked goods, maple syrup, eggs, handmade crafts, preserves, flowers, clothing, and a variety of specialty foods. Many products are locally sourced, and the quality is consistently impressive. Prices range from reasonable to slightly premium depending on the vendor, but the freshness, artisanal value, and local support make it worthwhile. Overall, St. Jacobs Farmers’ Market delivers a memorable and culturally rich experience. The mix of vibrant crowds, local farmers, and Mennonite heritage creates a uniquely warm and authentic environment. Come early, enjoy the local flavors, and take time to appreciate the traditional community presence. Definitely worth the visit!

Allow yourself lots of time because there's a lot to see and a lot to eat! It was my first time there and it was quite busy, I'm not sure if it's like this all the time but the weather was great and it's a long weekend. Tons of vendors, indoors and outdoors. From fresh fruits, veggies, flowers, baked goods to artistic vendors and your typical trinkets. I wasn't able to try the famous fritters from the market due to waiting too long but we would definitely return. I imagine Fall is beautiful here!

St. Jacobs Farmers’ Market in Kitchener is one of those rare places that perfectly combines tradition, community, and great food. Every visit feels like a little adventure. The market is full of energy — from the friendly local vendors to the smell of fresh baked goods and grilled foods filling the air. It’s not just a shopping trip; it’s a full cultural experience that brings people together. What I love most about this market is the amazing variety. You can find everything from farm-fresh fruits, vegetables, and meats to local honey, handmade crafts, jewelry, and home décor. The baked goods are fantastic — especially the pies, pretzels, and pastries. There are also many international food stalls offering everything from Lebanese shawarma to German sausages. The outdoor area during summer is especially lively, with musicians and extra stands that make it even more enjoyable. The vendors are genuinely friendly and proud of what they sell, which makes the atmosphere warm and welcoming. Prices are fair considering the quality and freshness of the products. Parking is free and well-organized, although it can get busy on weekends, so going early is a good idea. Nearby, you can explore the charming St. Jacobs Village with its small shops and cafés, making the whole trip even better. Whether you go for groceries, breakfast, or just to enjoy a walk, St. Jacobs Market is absolutely worth visiting — a true highlight of the Kitchener-Waterloo region.

If you plan to visit, I’d recommend starting your trip by taking the Waterloo train ride and visiting the charming village of St. Jacobs first. On your way back, stop by the Farmers’ Market , the main red building has plenty of food stalls and local vendors. Many booths are new, so it’s not exactly the old-fashioned local vibe I expected, but still worth a visit. Inside, some Mennonite families run lovely stands , there’s even a big map at the entrance where tourists can pin their home countries, which I found adorable. Definitely try the locally made maple products , pure maple syrup, candies, or butter are great picks! Upstairs, there’s an antique shop that can easily make you lose track of time if you love vintage treasures. Outside, you’ll find more stalls selling produce ,not all of them are local, but if you go later in the day, many vendors offer discounts on fresh fruits and veggies. Don’t forget to grab some farm eggs before you leave! 🥚🍁

Lovely time at the market. Bravely attended on a Saturday at noon. Fortunately found a parking spot quickly. Long lines and lots of people. But loved every moment. A lot places are cash or debit only. But you'll find places that take credit card. Bring a freezer/cooler if you want to buy raw meat or dairy. Enjoy!

Kitchener Market is a covered farmers' market that provides a wide variety of fresh produce, meat, dairy, and baked goods on a weekly basis. Additionally, it offers special dining experiences such as romantic dinners with carefully curated beer pairings and locally sourced charcuterie selections prepared by Chef Rob. The market has been a premium source of fresh produce for 130 years and hosts a Saturday farmers' market year-round.
It is a well-known spot in downtown Kitchener, offering a mix of fresh produce, specialty foods, and artisan goods. The market is especially popular for its Saturday farmers' market, where local vendors sell fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, cheeses, baked goods, and international foods. It also hosts events, cooking classes, and cultural activities, making it more than just a shopping destination. Some smaller vendors may be cash-only, so it’s a good idea to bring some cash just in case. The market also has an ATM on-site if you need to withdraw money. The market vendors generally accept a mix of cash, debit, and credit cards, but payment methods vary by vendor.

One of the best farmers’ markets in the area! I visited on the first Saturday of March, and it was buzzing with activity. Get ready to channel your inner shopping warrior—bring cash and your own bags or carriers for the fresh farmers’ market downstairs. You’ll find high-quality produce at great prices. Once you’re done with the shopping part, head upstairs to explore more local vendors and a cozy food court-style area. There were some really interesting local businesses worth checking out. Bolero’s Juice Corner was absolutely amazing. She makes each cup of juice fresh, right in front of you! I got 1.2 liters—she said it would last up to 7 days, but I finished it way before that! A big thank-you to AP Bakery for the excellent customer service. The guy and lady working there were both incredibly friendly and welcoming. But most importantly, you have to try their bread—it’s addictive. And the pecan pie? That’s my forever go-to. All the businesses I visited there were amazing—great food quality and friendly service. It was definitely worth the visit, no matter where you’re coming from. That said, the market management should work on creating a safer environment for shoppers, customers, and visitors.

I had the pleasure of attending the Italian cooking class last night with Chef Rob & Chef Maddy. It was a fun evening with great company & awesome food. We left the market with so many goodies and lots of great cooking tips. They were so well organized and the ingredients were fresh. The desserts provided from the bakery in the market were amazing too. I can't wait to attend the next class. I would recommend signing up for this class with a friend or partner but if you attend alone you'll make new friends.

The Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory is a 25,000 square foot facility located on a 107-acre site that includes the environmentally-sensitive Kossuth Bog. It features an indoor tropical garden with thousands of free-flying butterflies from around the world, over 100 varieties of tropical plants, waterfalls, streams, reflecting pools, and various animals. Visitors can witness butterflies emerging from their chrysalis and taking their first flight while relaxing among the beautiful water features.
We had a blast as a family walking throughout the conservatory and inspecting all the bugs. My daughter had so much fun. We ordered food at the cafe and my daughter loved the park just outside too. Staff was friendly and able to help if you needed it. There is a cute gift shop inside as well. Try to book ahead, they could sell out and if they do they will not take walk ins. If you look online before you go and there are many open tickets you might be fine but why chance it?
Brittany R — Google review
First off, the reservations — you have to book a time slot online and pay for tickets ahead of your visit. They clearly state they may turn away walk-ins if it’s busy. Understandable, since the butterfly area is small, and they don’t want to overcrowd it. On the plus side, parking is free and there’s plenty of it. Inside, there’s a small cafeteria and even a little playground for kids. The entrance leads to a small welcome area, and then you pass through double doors into the butterfly conservatory. The space is kept warm and humid for the butterflies — which feels nice on a cold winter day, but on a sunny day I was sweating buckets. There are lots of butterflies, and if you’re lucky one might even land on you. Now the downsides: the arena is very small. You can easily see the whole thing in under 15 minutes. For the size, the ticket prices feel steep. They don’t allow outside food, which is tough considering many visitors are families with kids, and there’s no designated area to sit and eat your own snacks anyway. If you’re a larger family with kids over 2, expect to spend quite a bit between tickets and the cafeteria. Overall, it’s worth visiting once for the experience, but don’t stress if you skip it — you’re not missing a full-day adventure.

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the Butterfly Conservatory. It was quite easy to tour around the facility. The building is very accessible for people who might require wheelchairs too. The variety of butterflies and birds is quite astounding. I really enjoyed seeing the Nicobar pigeons. I’d recommend the butterfly conservatory for people who might be on a date, also if you’re single it’s a lovely place to visit too.

I recently went to a wedding at the Butterfly Conservation in Cambridge, and it was such a unique and beautiful venue. Being surrounded by butterflies and lush greenery made the whole day feel magical and intimate. It’s such a peaceful setting — perfect for a wedding which is what I was there for. The staff were kind and helpful, and everything felt really well taken care of. It was such a special experience, and I can’t think of a more memorable place to celebrate a wedding.

Such a beautiful and relaxing place to visit! The Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory feels like stepping into a tropical paradise right in the middle of the city. The moment you walk in, you’re surrounded by warm air, lush greenery, and butterflies flying all around you – some might even land on you if you’re lucky! 🦋 It’s not just butterflies either – there are little birds, fish ponds, and some really unique insects to see in the side displays. The whole place is very clean and well-maintained, and the staff are friendly and happy to answer questions. It’s a great spot for kids (they get so excited when a butterfly sits on them!) but also really peaceful for adults who just want to enjoy nature and take photos. You don’t need a ton of time to go through, but it’s such a calming and refreshing experience that you’ll want to stay longer. Definitely recommend this place for families, couples, or anyone looking for something different and relaxing to do in the Cambridge/Kitchener-Waterloo area.
Dr A — Google review
I had a pleasant overall experience, and the staff were very friendly and welcoming, which made the visit enjoyable. The pricing seemed fair, but it did feel a little less worthwhile because of the limited space and the relatively small variety of species available to see. The place itself is quite compact, so it’s best to visit during quieter times. If it gets crowded, the area can feel congested and a bit overwhelming. There are lots of butterflies, although most of them are of the same species, which reduces some of the excitement. Other than butterflies, there are only about ten different types of creatures to observe. There is also a cafeteria on-site, but the menu options are limited, so don’t expect too much variety in food choices.

This will be such a great place for family with kids, or couples. Lovely garden with tons of butterflies surrounding, and if you take a little peak in the bushes, you might spot some little birds under. Me and my friends spent at least 2 hours there, just in an awe.

This is a great place to learn about the life cycle of butterflies and admire them closely. My visit last weekend was my third time around. There is no extra cost for parking and generally, I get the feeling that I was able to see more butterflies than the other version in Niagara Falls. Went to their clay workshop and glass workshop. Both were amazing and the atmosphere was calming. The staff who was hosting the workshop was friendly and answered all questions and concerns for first-timers. I love that they do events every week, very fun experience for everyone in Waterloo region :)

We had an amazing time at this clay & glass gallery, admission is free and there are 4 exhibits. Super friendly staff welcomed us, and you can tag along for a tour where each artpiece's history and meaning is intricatedly explained. The gift shop is expansive and filled mostly with glasswork from artists all over Canada, however we did not manage to find a piece under $30. There is also a clay classroom at the back where you can learn to make your own pottery if you sign up.

Very impactful exhibits! It was my first time and enjoyed the visit. I was particularly moved by the works of Irene Frolic and Lauren Nicole Rice.

This is a fantastic little gallery. My daughter came here for a weeklong camp and she had a great time. The staff was friendly and encouraging, provided guidance, but also gave a lot of freedom to create whatever they wanted. At the end of the week, the kids got to bring in their family to show off what they had worked on, which was nice. There's a nice gift shop too, with a lot of beautiful pieces you can bring home, though they are pricey, as you would expect. Great place for a short visit, or to sign up kids for art camp.

We decided to visit the Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery one of the weekends just to explore Canadian history. It was one of the best decisions we made. The "entry was free". And the exhibition or the collection was amazing. We loved observing the Art pieces. There is a huge collection of contemporary Canadian ceramics and glass art. The gallery showcases a wide range of works by Canadian artists working in these mediums, including functional pottery, sculptural ceramics, and glass art.

The Homer Watson House & Gallery in Kitchener is a charming and well-maintained attraction that was once the residence of renowned artist Homer Ransford Watson. Today, it serves as an airy exhibition space featuring various displays on Watson and other Ontario artists. The gallery also supports the local artistic community through outreach programs for children, adults, and seniors. As Canada's first notable landscape painter, Watson's works are showcased alongside those of contemporary local and regional artists.
I am very glad that I visited this place. The Mother's Day Garden Party took place here, where I was a vendor. The organizers created a festive atmosphere, despite the very cold and rainy weather. The museum and gallery is a great place to explore Canadian history and art. There is a beautiful garden and park around the museum. The sculptures in the park are very unique. I will definitely come to this amazing place again.

Booking with Tanner was perfect very lovely to deal with and accurate with all the details. We had a painting party at the gallery and it was an amazing experience! Our artist, Emily, was friendly, professional, and incredibly patient with the kids, which made the event extra special. The only thing I would mention is that the timing felt a bit short, but overall, the space is beautiful and welcoming. We definitely plan on hosting here again!

As I stepped into the historic Homer Watson House and Gallery, I felt as though I had traveled back in time. The beautifully preserved house and grounds, once home to the renowned artist, offered a glimpse into the past. The gallery itself is a treasure trove of art, showcasing a diverse range of works from a variety of artists. Each piece tells a story, inviting viewers to connect with the artist's vision and emotions. I was particularly impressed by the efforts made to educate visitors about local history. The knowledgeable staff provided insightful commentary on the exhibits, shedding light on the cultural and artistic significance of the region, thanks Katie! It's clear that the Homer Watson House and Gallery is more than just a museum; it's a vital cultural institution that plays a crucial role in preserving our heritage and inspiring future generations.

Charming art gallery in a beautiful building. Great selection of local art on display. My daughter adored the art camp and made so many cool pieces while there. We also love going for the family art events, which are so well organized and fun.

I took the 4 week cozy wheel pottery with Alyssa. She is fantastic but the studio is not organized at all. Our pieces were not bisque fired for our last class (glaze) so we had to fill out forms for them to glaze them. The glaze work is terrible. Every piece has a blob of area completely missing glaze making none of them food safe. This is extremely disappointing. I've taken wheel workshops at other places in KW and I wouldn't recommend coming here.

I recently had the opportunity to visit the Homer Watson Gallery in Kitchener and was thoroughly impressed. The exhibition featuring local artists showcased the best of KW's artistic talent, and learning about Homer Watson's legacy was truly inspiring. My partner and I left feeling motivated and even stopped by the art shop to pick up some supplies for our own painting practices. I highly recommend visiting this gallery and look forward to returning again in the future.

Attended the outdoor art show today at the Homer Watson art gallery. It was a lovely time! Lots of original art with the artists engaging with customers strolling around the property. The inside of the gallery has art installations from the Watson family along with local artists. Definitely worth a view and the grounds are beautiful. Try to make a small donation inside the gallery itself, they ask for $5 but in these times I'm sure they can use a little more!

Today i speak of Homer Watson house, in his time he was described as the Canadian Constable. Some would argue the Group of Seven copied him, some would say he them.Myself I find he is a tad more realistic and somehow brighter. Two of his pieces were purchased by Queen Victoria's man in Canada. I am sure he has an official title. As I have often said small town Canada museums and galleries are the heart and soul of this country. The staff and volunteers here work hard and well to make sure there is always something to ignite interest. I heartily recommend the 1 hour or so drive. May I suggest a Saturday drive and then explore Kitchener and surrounding are.

Bingemans is a sprawling entertainment complex in Waterloo that offers a wide range of activities for visitors of all ages. From its popular water park and campground to an arcade with numerous games, bowling alley, and outdoor stage for big events, there's something for everyone. The facility also features mini-golf, go-karts, escape rooms, axe throwing, and a rope course with slides and tunnels.
I love this place. As I child a loved the play structure and arcade. While I would say that both have gone down in quality since, they are still the best place around for kids parties. As an adult, the bowling is fairly priced and the food is good. Mini golf here is also good quality at an affordable price. I haven’t been to the water park in many years but as a child it was one of my favourite parts of the place. It’s a dream for kids and just overall fun.
Kadanian14 — Google review
Bingemans: Gift of Lights was a fun outing, especially for the kids since they had a blast pointing out all the colorful displays and shouting out their favorites. We went on Christmas Day, and it was surprisingly not crowded, which made the whole experience more enjoyable. We could stop the car and take our time admiring the lights without feeling rushed. But yeah, you’re not allowed to get out of the car, which makes sense for safety, but it did feel a little restrictive at times. Now, here’s where I’m a bit unsure! Was it really worth the $36? The entire drive-through took only about 10-15 minutes, and while the lights were pretty and festive, it wasn’t exactly mind-blowing. I was expecting it to last longer or maybe have more unique features to make the price feel justified. If you have kids, they’ll definitely enjoy it, and it’s a nice way to add some Christmas magic to your day. For adults, though, it’s more about the experience with your family than the lights themselves. If you’re looking for something quick and festive, it’s worth a try, but don’t go in expecting a huge production.

Disappointing and Unhygienic Stay – Left a Day Early I recently stayed in one of the cabins at Bingemans Park, and unfortunately, the experience was overwhelmingly negative. What was meant to be a relaxing camping getaway turned into a frustrating and uncomfortable ordeal—not only for my family but also for two other families who joined us based on my recommendation. Cleanliness & Condition of Cabin: The cabin reeked of dog urine upon arrival—an overpowering and unpleasant smell that made it nearly impossible to spend time indoors. The floors were visibly dirty; even after two rounds of cleaning with Lysol wipes, the cloths came away black with grime. This was especially distressing as I was traveling with a 9-month-old baby who needed a clean space to crawl and play. Customer Service: I called the front desk to report the situation, only to be told, “I’ll have them bring you an air freshener.” That was the extent of their response—no follow-up, no offer of alternative accommodation, and no staff sent to inspect the site. The dismissive attitude was unacceptable and completely unhelpful. Logistics & Communication: Upon check-in, we weren’t given a map or directions to the cabin. We also didn’t receive all the keys for the three sites we had reserved. We only realized this after driving to the site and then had to return to the front desk—a frustrating and avoidable delay. Facilities & Maintenance: The windows had no screens, so we had to choose between extreme heat or dealing with insects inside. The outdoor picnic table was broken and unsafe, with warped and splintered benches. There were no washrooms nearby—a crucial detail that was not made clear during booking, and an especially difficult issue when traveling with young children. Overall Experience: The conditions were so bad that we decided to cut our trip short and leave a full night early.

I read lots of mixed reviews. We didn't have any issues while there. The things that need to be worked out weren't super noticeable to our family. The only thing that should Mayne be improved is lighting. At night it is a very dark walk to the bathrooms (we stayed in the cabins) and there wasn't near enough garbage around the place I feel. But we kept our garbage and dropped it off when full so again not a huge deal.

Not impressed with the camping side of Bingemans. If you’re from out of town, don’t arrive even a second before 2pm for your camping spot. They will not let you in. They say it’s because they’re cleaning the campsites , however we knew our site wasn’t booked for several days prior. There’s garbage and wrappers completely littered everywhere and my toddler stepped on a decomposing squirrel that was in the middle of our site. So not that thorough of a clean. You don’t receive a physical map or instructions on what to do before you enter the water park. The map online is completely misleading. The water park is WAAAAYYY farther than it appears on a map and you’re walking up an extremely steep hill the whole time. We learned to just drive around to the Boston pizza and walk over through there Don’t plan on your kids sleeping in if you’re coming here. We camped in the 400 section and there was a loud day camp of children who were yelling and screaming since before 8am. I’m not blaming the kids, they’re excited…. But things like this we should be told about especially when we call to ask if there’s anything we should know. I never would have thought there would be screaming kids HOURS prior to the water park opening. If I was able to post a video with the screaming we could hear from inside the trailer I would. They do not prioritize people who spend a lot of money to camp here (almost doubled on weekends) The extreme noise in the early mornings. No showers on the campground (you go to the parking lot everyone has access to - showers smell of human feces) it’s frustrating. They nickel and dime you for absolutely everything . Do a day pass instead. Positives: The teens who work here are extremely nice. It’s nice that this place hires Canadian youth. The kids had fun at the water park, arcade, and play place.

UPDATE: They did take responsibility for everything and gave a full refund with a 15% off voucher if I ever decided to stay there again. Just wanted to be fully up front that they are taking responsibility, and outlined the steps they are taking to resolve the issues. Rented 2 container cabins for 3 days because they had A/C. Well both containers units were not working, just blowing hit air. Every time we called for help, they acted like they didn't know there was an issue but sent teenage house cleaners to look at it. Finally gave a portable unit the second day, but it kept tripping the breaker after 10 minutes so had nothing. All our food was spoiled, even dry food as it was sweltering hot in the containers. My roll on deodorant melted. Toothpaste was runny. Crackers, bread were all soggy, marshmallows were melted and stuck together. The only reprieve from the heat was in the water park ir pool. This was the worst, most stressful vacation ever! We found out on the 3rd day while packing to leave, that none of the containers had functioning A/C units. How can you continue renting tin cans in heat wave with no A/C? Kids were miserable, wasted our only weeks vacation this summer, lost a lot of money, will never go back again!

Chicopee Tube Park, located in Kitchener, Ontario, is an adventure park that offers a variety of thrilling activities for visitors. From zip-lining and bungee trampolining to tubing and rope activities, this destination promises exhilarating fun for the whole family. In the winter months, it provides an exciting way to experience the slopes without needing to ski or snowboard. Additionally, during spring, summer, and fall seasons, guests can enjoy summer tubing on synthetic surfaces.
Highly recommended for the family! It's better to book online for a reservation. It often sells out at certain times. Try not to come during peak hours. I am from Burlington and it's worth visiting. If you are not going tubing, that's okay... there is a balcony where you can watch. You need to complete a waiver for yourself and your children (kids).

It’s a beautiful tube park in Kitchener but sometimes you can get confused and end up at the another Chicopee park as there is 2 different places with same name. It was such a thrilling activity with whole view of Kitchener from top. Also there is nice hut where you collect your tubes and have beverages and food.

Amazing place in Kitchener to get outside the house on a winter day and have fun. Would recommend getting tickets in advance. Dress accordingly. It’s cold there. Highly recommended to get your gloves and toque. Right time to dress up as true North. There are restrooms and changing rooms if you want to change to snow pants. You can either climb uphill (this is your fitness check moment) or you can wait in a queue for few minutes and take the lift (I’m not sure this is the right word). There is plenty of parking but it’s pretty much packed. You might have to wait depending on when you arrive. Overall, if you haven’t yet been here- do not think twice and just glide down that snowy hill. Hope this is helpful.

We had a great time. Weather was warm so I’m not sure it will last all week. We arrived at 930 for 10 booking. We could tube right away. Lots of parking with few people. Had online waiver and registration. Getting tickets was quick and easy. Very friendly staff. It got much busier around 11 so I’d suggest going first thing in the morning.

We stopped at this zipline park on our way from Toronto to Sarnia with my daughter. It was a nice break during the trip. The staff were very friendly and professional, and we felt safe throughout the experience. The setup was well-organized, and my daughter enjoyed it. Overall, a pleasant and well-run place for a short outdoor activity.

This is a great tubing park. We have gone there several times and it has always been a pleasant experience. You need to reserve in advance specially on weekends or holidays when it gets very busy. Other than the main tubing attraction they has a very nice Cabin where you can have some some food and drinks. A hot chocolate could be a very good compliment to this fun outdoor winter activity.

What an amazing experience! This was a long-awaited activity that we both really wanted to try. Skiing is difficult, and there’s a high chance of getting hurt. In comparison, tubing is much safer and just as exhilarating. We both had an incredible time. One thing to note: we visited on a sunny Saturday, so it’s important to get there by 9 a.m. when it opens. That’s when there’s no crowd, and you can slide as many times as you want. By 9:30, the crowd had grown significantly, as you can see from the video. Just getting back up through the lift can take about 30 minutes, so you’ll only be able to slide three or four times unless you’re planning to walk. Since we arrived when the park opened, we managed to slide more than six times. The staff were really polite. Definitely recommend.

My kids and I loved it!!! There are only a few places that my teens and tween can really all love together, and this place is one of them! We had a delightful day together!! This place isn't perfect, but I give them 5 stars for giving us such a wonderful day!! I'll list the pros and cons below. Pros: Their purple slide was incredibly fun! It was so nice to be able to share the ride with one of my kids each time. The other slides that you go down face forward were pure fun as well, and I was able to go down at the same time with all of my kids -- such a great design! Cons: Avoid the weekend. The wave pool was so packed that I couldn't actually swim for 90% of the time. I had to just continuously maintain position. The prices for the food are out of this world. Keep food in your car and walk back to it; they allow you to go in and out. They do a full inspection of your bags when you come in. Also, their website specifically says that they have lockers. I was relying on that. However, when we got there, they said that lockers weren't available for use. It was annoying having to sit there guarding our stuff; my teens so kindly took turns with me so I could participate. ❤️ Also, there wasn't a lot of shade at the picnic tables. The lineups for the slides were also very long. In addition, the path that you had to cross to get to the 1st lineup for the purple slide was painful to cross. They need to do something about that rocky ground! Note: I took most of the pictures at closing time to avoid having people in my pictures. The shots don't reflect how busy it was.
Amy P — Google review
We arrived around opening time on a Thursday and had plenty of options for seating. The water was not freezing, and there were basically 4 rides (for grown-ups) plus the tidal pool, but since there weren't too many people earlier in the day we could enjoy them as much as we wanted. It got really busy when the summer camp kid groups arrived, though. Bring an umbrella if you plan on arriving later. Only gave it 4 stars due to ride options (a lazy river would be nice) als the inconsistency of rule allocation by the lifeguards - I would go down something with a necklace/sunglasses/ring, and the next lifeguard would tell me to remove them before going down 2 minutes later.
Kari K — Google review
We just spent a week there at the camping ground!! We had the Best time!! We did the ultimate play and stay package. Its well worth it. There is so much for the kids to do!! We were a family of 5 and the package is for a family of 4. So we bought a season pass that was worth the cost as well. Wish we could have just added to the package but not a deal breaker. The water park was great. We have 3 boys 12 10 and 6 and they all had plenty to do!! The lifeguards are all super friendly and lots of them. So you feel safe!! I had read on another review that the person didn't have a great time because of all the campers. Yes the campers where there for like 1.5 hours in the day. We just asked when they would be in the pool and went and did something else for that time and then went back, it didn't bother us at all. (Thursdays there are a couple of other day camp groups that come for the day. Just so people are aware) The only thing I would have liked to see differently is that the campers pool have later hours(even if it was use at your own risk) and also allow people to use a floaty (they have tubes in the wave pool, so it didn't make sense why we couldn't use a float in the camping pool) just my thoughts. They have so much land still that I hope they expand and make more slides. And more smaller slides that the little ones can do. I hope they put one in where the old slide was beside the purple one. The pictures of the old slide looked amazing. But we had a great time and we will be back!
Tina J — Google review
We have had seasons passes for the last 3 years. While the kids enjoy the slides and wave pool, it is clear that an update is needed. The concrete is uneven in spots, and the age of the slides shows. Going early or after 4pm is best because it is less crowded. The camps take over the pool once a day, so it is very busy then. You cannot bring in your own food and the food choices there are limited. Overall, it is a lot of fun. The slides are great. There is good variety of swimming/water activities. The staff is always alert, kind, and helpful. The seasons pass is a great deal and provides lots of perks. But it is time for an update.

We had an excellent time at Bingemans Water Park! It’s a super fun place for kids and families, our children had a blast, and we enjoyed it just as much. There were many lifeguards paying close attention, which made us feel safe and comfortable. Highly recommended for a fun family day!

I went with a 6 year old and two 8 year olds. With the wave pool, the slides and kid area, this place kept us all busy and having fun for the entire day! Will be back again!

We have been to Bingemans a few times over the years. We have always enjoyed the campgrounds, the water park and the amenities. This time was no different, the kids always have a blast, and are beat out by the end of the day. The staff and life guards were great, helpful and attentive. Some parts of the park are showing it’s age, but they seem to do a great job keeping it up and making the grounds look nice. Would definitely recommend for a family trip, a great camping experience and days full of fun. Especially for younger kids.

It is a nice place to go during the week. However, I would never visit the waterpark on the weekend due to the size of the place It is kind of small for the amount of people they let in. It was busy during the week and felt pack, I can’t imagine how it gets on the weekend It’s also kind of pricy. I went on Thursday since they had a discount (almost half of the price) but the regular price is expensive for what you get

Kitchener City Hall, established in 1993, serves as the central hub for the city's council representatives and hosts various public events. The modern building features a spacious and contemporary layout, making it suitable for gatherings like Canada Day rooftop fireworks display. The square in front is a popular spot for outdoor activities such as lunch breaks and winter skating at the city's rink.
We had to come here to get our secure bike parking key fobs, and the service was excellent! A kind employee greeted us at the front door and asked us what we would like to do. When we told her, she led us to the service counter, where we retrieved appointment tickets. She then sat us down at the correct waiting area where we were to receive our fobs. The staff member giving out fobs was amicable and informative. When asked about parking hours at city hall, she tried her best to answer and even asked security to verify the details for us. In addition, the building is clean and modern, with accessible washrooms available for the public during opening hours.

Kitchener City Hall, located conveniently downtown Kitchener for all of your city affairs, from permission issuance to paying for your traffic violation tickets ( if this happens.) It has a great architecture design, and the spacious area at front get busy in summer as it gets occupied by many organizations when events like food and music festivals take place in the city. I only wish if they have more security to control some activities that might take place in and around the building. The water fountain is a great work that gives a wonderful view and it's turned to an ice skating spot in winter time!

Edit: How is a 20% over year tax increase acceptable when the city/ Region provides worsening services year after year. This is criminal and nobody gets held accountable! The city of Kitchener is an embarrassment on every level. I would like to know why our street was unnecessarily made 5' thinner to the point a firetruck cannot get down the street with cars legally parking each side. I am making this known for when there ever is an issue, the city is going to be hugely liable. Busses and trucks have already been stuck multiple times with nowhere to go. Residents, if your street is being done, I recommend reaching out to stop and correct this before the failed infrastructure reaches your area. Of course, when reaching out to the city during construction or after the fact, nobody provides a proper answer to these concerns. The people making these mindless decisions never get held liable and we are the ones that lose. Even though it is our money wasted. Do better Kitchener and stop wasting our hard-earned money hiring grossly incompetent people to work on infrastructure design projects way over their head. Nothing against the construction company who was great and when speaking with them, they are stuck constructing whatever the brainless muffs designed.

Shopping
CF Fairview Park is the largest mall in its region, housing major retailers like Walmart, The Bay, and Sears alongside popular brands such as The Gap, Banana Republic, American Eagle Outfitters, and The Body Shop. Visitors praise the mall for its diverse shopping options and well-maintained environment that creates a pleasant atmosphere. While some feel that the decor and layout are a bit dated, others appreciate the exceptional service provided by the staff.
one of the largest shopping centers in Kitchener area, featuring a good mix of popular retailers, restaurants, and services. Oftentimes it can get quite busy, especially on weekends. Parking is generally available but can be challenging during peak hours. The food court has a variety of options, though seating can be limited. Overall, it’s a convenient spot for shopping, but it doesn’t stand out as anything exceptional.

This location is exceptional. I commend the building's architectural design. Numerous prominent brands are represented, including Hollister, Miniso, Tim Hortons, Real Juice, and Plateora, among others. The restrooms are clean and well-maintained. The expansive food court features a wide array of renowned food brands. I highly recommend a visit.

Very quiet and well spaced out mall. The food court is a bit small and could use more variety. The mall has walmart and other bigger chains. They also have 3 bubble tea joint.

Loved the cotton candy vending machine at Fairview Park Mall, Kitchener! Super easy to use, fast, and the cotton candy is always fresh and fluffy. A fun treat for kids, families, and anyone visiting the Kitchener-Waterloo area. Definitely worth checking out next time you’re at the mall!
Jibin J — Google review
Great mall. Always clean. Usually even if completely packed can move around no problem. Shops are varied for cost and value. Something for almost everyone somewhere in the mall. Never seen it not clean. Puts my hometown Toronto malls to shame for cleanliness... Security seems good too. Lots of em, friendly and helpful but not in your face all the time. You notice them on the edges heh. They don't do the standard in your face of most mall cops or gather in huge groups for no reason. Kudos to whomever that or those security companies are. All around pretty darn good mall. Lots of room in a crowd even. It's amazing how they manage it. Only thing that's a bit much is food court gets crowded but that's always the kids. Was when I was one too heh...
Bayou B — Google review
A decent shopping mall, Fairview Park is a great way to spend a couple hours. With multiple high-end shops, a phenomenal food court, and a clean - well kept interior, Fairview Park mall is one of the more impressive malls within the area. However, the increasing gang activity, and unrestrained activity of the teens in and around the mall have begun to take a toll on the experience. I have seen fights, police intervention, and even someone urinating in a corner near the food court... While these things don't bother me due to my own career where I experience these things daily - they can definitely deter those who aren't accustomed to it... I understand that this is not Fairview Park mall's fault necessarily, however they could take means to control it better... More wandering security, more cameras, more police presence, etc. However, putting all of that aside, it is an excellent mall, with plenty of shopping opportunities. This is a great place to do birthday or holiday shopping. It's lively, active, and a great location to come spend time at. Overall, I highly recommend Fairview Park mall!
Dakota W — Google review
It’s alright, I think better security for customers and staff would improve this place. They should also think of opening up some attractions for the community and youths to keep the area engaged/productively busy.
Tony N — Google review
A great mall to spend time, shop, and dine. It offers a wide variety of clothing stores like Hollister and Hudson's Bay, as well as Bath & Body Works. There's also a Jump+ store and a Walmart for grocery shopping. The food court includes options like Tim Hortons, A&W, and several other eateries. It's the perfect place to find everything you need in one location, with plenty of parking space available.

My husband and I did the Committed room with two of our best friends. We have done a lot of escape rooms before and this was easily one of the most challenging but thoroughly entertaining rooms we have done. The puzzles were complex and really worked your brain. The staff was super friendly and made the experience that much better. I also have to say the customer service is amazing as well, they made rescheduling the event very easy and not at all stressful. I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys escape rooms!! Thanks so much for the great experience we will definitely be back to try the other rooms!

I brought my 6 kids here to do an escape room.. something fun before school started. Ages range from 2-17. I purchased tickets for the Mayors office. We had a great time. Both workers we dealt with were so kind and cheerful. Our host for our room was so sweet. She was helpful and very thorough with the rules and made sure all my kids understood what they can and cannot do. Will definitely come back. Had a great experience. We went on Saturday August 30, 2025.. Hopefully the 2 workers we dealt with will be rewarded for being so joyful! Good job 👏

Played all 5 escape rooms (one twice) in Kitchener, enjoyed them all. Really enjoyed how immersive Committed was when I played it yesterday - and missed escaping by one last puzzle. Had a great time anyway, even with just 2 players. Solid value for the full attention of a host in a custom made space that actually felt like an asylum, instead of having a few asylum-themed things decorating white drywall like other escape room places

The stores are good. Mom and pop stores seem to be flourishing in an era of big box stores. You have what you need for an area of the city. Waterloo region which Kitchener is part of decided years ago to go with sections of the city stores are placed within walking distance. Going away from only having one area of the city people can go to shop. In doing so lowering the cost to drive throughout the region. The Highland area is one example with the basics located nicely for the neighborhood.

The park is awesome, nicely tucked away and close to town if you need anything which is handy. We are staying in the 400's which is great, the only complaint I have is the site right across from us is sadly being used as a parking lot for the next site beside, which has welllll more then the 6 people the website states can be there. It was super busy sounding and very loud from that site. Well Rangers to the rescue! They took care/removed the noisy family and another group and the sounds of nature came back. The water area is great for picnicking and water floats. Lots of trails to walk through also. Turned into a great stay.

We enjoyed our stay Victoria weekend. Beautiful clean campsites. There are seasonal lots as well. We had an RV and found the lots to be very sloped. Hydro & water plugs are on opposite side of lots in front, rather than the back. I think those bulky cords across lots was a trip hazard and not very appealing. The lots were good size, and firpits were even in odd areas of lot. Be careful...while trying to find even ground for your trailer you, you also have to keep trailer away from pits. Firewood sold at front gate 10.00 a bag. Trails, and camp ground not far from downtown Waterloo. Bring your bikes, furbabies and ball gloves, kayaks.

About $8 per adult. Went on Canada day (July 1) — around 5pm. Lots of empty parking spots. Not packed at all — except the beach. The beach was a little crowded. The trails were really nice. The park was well maintained and the signage was helpful. Make sure to use bug spray! Staff at the entrance was nice (and proactively offered a map). :) I recommend this park.

It was nice and well kept. Wish the sites had more privacy but they are spaced nicely about in certain areas. We went on 1 hiking trail and it was nice, cleared away and clean and a lovely walk. The water was nice to look out onto, next time I'll check out the water more. November-Sadly the camping sites and certain areas aren't accessible but many of the trails are. Sites just opened and it looks amazing there right now. Bought a kayak so I'm excited to check out the waters.

St. Mary Our Lady of the Seven Sorrows Roman Catholic Church is the oldest and largest church in Kitchener-Waterloo, founded in 1857. The vibrant parish community celebrates rich Catholic traditions and offers Sunday services at various times to cater to different preferences. The church is known for its beautiful architecture, including stunning stained glass windows. It also offers Latin Mass with English homilies and provides Missals for attendees to follow along.
The pictures really don't do it justice, this is an absolutely gorgeous church, the music is pretty good and the mass was well done. Came to the 8:30 mass and there were still quite a few people there, really lovely and would recommend wether you visit once while out of town or come back again and again. St. Mary's is a very welcoming and engaging church. Located in central downtown Kitchener, it has a spectacular architectural effect (oldest Catholic church in Kit), beautiful stained glass (worth a visit!). This past year and a half, St. Mary's has been focusing on Outreach and partnering with other community services (ie. The Working Centre, Mennonite Central Committee, etc. ) to provide care and support to our neighbors in need in the downtown area. Early this winter, St. Mary's provided emergency Warming Centre sleepovers for over 100 people for almost 2 weeks as winter came upon us early this year. We also have a very active St. Vincent de Paul Society which distributes food to those in need twice a week. If you've been thinking of returning to Mass, consider St. Mary's. I guarantee a welcoming experience! St. Mary's has weekday Mass, Tues-Fri. at noon, and is also home to the Latin Mass congregation each Sun. at 3:00 p.m. Introduce yourself, at the regular Masses, to Fr. Toby, Fr. Dan, Fr. Joseph and Rianne, the Outreach worker! They love to meet new friends!! PLUS - Hearing aids available and sound system amazing!

Going to Mass is so comforting. At St. Mary Our Lady of Seven Sorrows the atmosphere is revert, peaceful & welcoming . I have found community, uplifting music, traditional spirituality & thought provoking homilies. Plus they support initiatives to aid the homeless & others. Tiny Home Takeout is a wonderful initiative staffed entirely by volunteer parishioners. From Tuesdays to Saturdays, they offer calzones, a "bite" such as a small salad or soup plus a few drink offerings. Meant to support underprivileged/ unhoused persons, all food & bevvies is by donation. Pay what you can, but if one can't pay, then eat anyway. It's a real blessing!🙏🏼

The venue hosts a wide range of events, from musical-theater performances to comedy shows, catering to fans of various genres. While some visitors found the seating comfortable, others noted long restroom lines during intermissions due to limited facilities.
First time here. The theatre itself is beautiful and the dancers are gorgeous in their outfits. The seats are comfy which is awesome since it was such a long show (even with Intermission). There are washrooms open on each floor that be all gendered which I thought strange. Concession was okay the prices felt like robbery I knew it would be above normal but jeez. They also offer a way to preorder your drinks for Intermission so you won’t have to wait in line again. The staff were very helpful and really good at their jobs. Please don’t be talking and taking pictures during the show it’s disrespectful and distracting to the performers firstly and secondly staff will walk up to stop you and it’s disruptive. It was so nice seeing everyone dressed up such a lovely evening. Goosebumps.

Where do I start? This is a top notch, internationally respected (if not, that’s their issue) theatre, stage, venue, hall. I don’t care what you call it, they have done it all and done it well. I have had the honour to attending performances from brass to strings to four piece band and 40 plus pieces orchestra. Throw in Platinum Blonde. Over the Dave Wilcox and Kim Mitchell. Amazing cover bands. Magicians. The list goes on and on. Just ask my credit card. The sound….wow. The comfort and the people. Smiles all around. It’s like Waterloo Region’s Disneyland. Everyone is all smiles and loves being there and being helpful. Not a bad seat in the house and that is especially true this year as they replaced every seat in the house. Added space and comfort wherever possible. As a member I also get to enjoy the lounge prior to and during a show. If you didn’t know the lounge was there…..google that! Rachel and her team will pamper you and take your experience to the next level. High class. High quality and something, as a resident we are blessed to have so close to home. Thanks so much!

Attended Centre in the Square for the first time last night to see Hotel California. The venue is fantastic! There truly isn’t a bad seat in the house. We had a great view from the balcony and the seats were so comfortable. You definitely don’t feel cramped. The employees were friendly and helpful. Very organized from parking to the show. It took no more than 10 minutes to leave the underground parking and be on our way ! Will definitely return !

Great venue, never been to a bad show there. The staff are wonderful. Parking is always easy and well priced. The lounge is great for preshow drinks (big thanks to our last server Chrissy, she was amazing!!). Would love to see a few more wines offered at the concession stands.

Went to go see Menopause The Musical, and it was incredible. The lounge is stunning! My only issue was they actually forgot to bring out our pre-ordered food for an hour and had to be reminded and then my food was cold. Other than that, the experience was great.

University
The University of Waterloo is a renowned public research institution with strong programs in engineering, mathematics, psychology, and science. It offers a Science and Aviation degree through its Faculty of Science, preparing students for careers in the aerospace industry. Partnering with one of Canada's largest flight schools provides access to diverse aircraft and modern training facilities at one of the country's busiest airports. The university is part of a vibrant academic community in Waterloo, alongside Wilfrid Laurier University.
Love and hate with this place. Lots of memories there. Can’t go wrong with this university, one of the best universities in Canada or the world. Lots of efforts to spend there but certainly will lead you to success. You need to stay strong. Took me a while to look for my graduation composite as they have moved mine from DWE to the new engineering building E6. Many nice bridges connecting the buildings. Very impressive new buildings which will definitely another step to success. Praise God for the blessings and assistance to overcome all the difficulties and lead. I

Nostalgic Visit to Waterloo University. Last month, we visited University of Waterloo, a place very close to our hearts. It was here that my son completed his M.Eng. in Mechatronics Engineering 7 years ago. Walking through the campus again brought back so many cherished memories, filled with pride and nostalgia. It was truly special to relive those moments with our family members, seeing the same halls and surroundings that shaped his journey. The university continues to inspire with its vibrant atmosphere, innovative spirit, and world-class academic environment. A visit that reminded us not only of the past achievements but also the strong foundation this institution builds for the future. 🌿🎓💫

We just attended our daughters graduation there at the campus… it’s always welcoming atmosphere at this university. Most of all the facilities around at university is very easy to navigate…

Not perfect, but the best university I could have gone to. All the profs I had first year really cared about their students and teaching. Very flexible and understanding of your circumstances. I know we get a rep as a lame academic school that never parties, but it’s not true at all. Sure we may not be like Queens or Laurier where everyone parties hard all the time, but if you want to party when you go to university you WILL ALWAYS find people to party with. It is a bit more intense than some other schools, but you are paying for an education here so you want to get the most out of it as possible. The people are also amazing and work to create a sense of belonging amount students. I made my best friends at Waterloo and we are now all living together. Just to add a couple of things about the campus: - huge campus with lots of study spaces and different facilities - we have really good indoor bridges between building to keep you warm - very lively, there are always events going on - we are actually pretty good at sports and have a HUGE sports facility - super close to tons of yummy restaurants - A LOT of geese, and they do become aggressive in the spring - actually a really gorgeous campus despite what you might believe - Dana porter library can be so beautiful to study at when you’re on the 10th floor - health services is right in the middle of campus and there is also a walk in clinic beside the uni - they keep their campus very clean - connected to the ion (train that connects uw to other places of the city) - lots of grant and scholarship opportunities - a lot of fun weird things just around campus like a museum, huge plant wall… - lots of food options for people with dietary restrictions - a super active student community that doesn’t make u cringe (check out club instagram pages) - faculties steal each other’s mascots as a fun little game and a million other little things For those who are scared to leave home: I left my home town to go to uni and I was so scared and sad, but once I got there I realized how miserable I had been at home. My point is: leaving home is so sad and straight up scary, until you leave.

The University of Waterloo is an outstanding institution that offers students a world-class education and countless opportunities for growth. Known for its strong academic programs, innovative research, and excellent co-op opportunities, Waterloo stands out as one of the top universities in Canada and beyond. One of the best things about the University of Waterloo is its focus on hands-on learning. The co-op program is a major highlight, allowing students to gain real work experience while still in school. This gives graduates a competitive edge when entering the job market, as they already have practical skills and industry connections. Many top companies actively recruit Waterloo students, which speaks to the university’s strong reputation. Academically, Waterloo excels in fields like engineering, computer science, mathematics, and business. The professors are knowledgeable and dedicated, providing students with a challenging yet supportive learning environment. The courses are designed to prepare students for success in their careers, with a good balance of theory and practical application. The campus is modern and well-equipped, with excellent facilities including libraries, labs, and study spaces. There are also plenty of student clubs, events, and activities, making it easy to get involved and meet new people. The university fosters a welcoming and inclusive community, ensuring that students from all backgrounds feel supported. Another great aspect of Waterloo is its commitment to innovation and research. Students have opportunities to work on cutting-edge projects and collaborate with experts in their fields. This makes the learning experience even more exciting and impactful. Overall, the University of Waterloo is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a high-quality education, valuable work experience, and a vibrant campus life. I am really shocked that such things happen in universities here n professors knowingly do not care . It’s so unfare who work hard and honestly give there quizzes n tests while those full time cheating in diff ways during tests excel . The examiner knowingly doesn’t take any action . Mount Hope Cemetery in Waterloo is a fascinating destination that offers a glimpse into the area's rich history. Established in the mid-1800s, this serene resting place is home to notable figures from Kitchener's past, including influential politicians and business leaders. As you wander through its well-maintained grounds, you'll encounter impressive historical monuments and an abundance of majestic trees that create a peaceful atmosphere for reflection.
I visited in the January of 2017. Very peaceful, this cemetery has historic importance because of the resting place for many soldiers from first great war including the only grave in Canada of a Canadian Sikh soldier from world war 1, Pvt. Bukkan Singh

Buckam Singh (December 5, 1893 – August 27, 1919)—sometimes spelled Buk Am, Bukam, or Bukkan—was a Indo-Canadian Sikh soldier who served with the Canadian Army in the First World War and early Sikh pioneer to Ontario.

Straight paths, curved paths, level ground and short hills. Well grown trees, multiple access points from surrounding neighborhoods. Used by family's, kids and joggers during the day, but at night it can be unsafe to use.
Christopher D — Google review
I used to live in a street adjacent to this cemetery, and would walk or bike through it several times a week to go to Central Fresh Market or take the bus. It's a really beautiful cemetery, well maintained with a decent amount of pedestrians, runners and cyclists. There are a lot of large, old trees of various species, I've even seen groups wandering around just to identify and look at trees. If you live in the neighborhood, you probably know the place already... if not, you're missing out!

St. Jacobs Country Playhouse is a cozy and well-sized theatre located in the southwest of the province. The lobby features a bar and can accommodate most guests, while volunteers help you find your comfortable seats, which offer great sightlines and perfect sound. The parking lot is spacious, and the tickets are reasonably priced for the quality of performances offered.
I recently saw Misery at St. Jacob’s Playhouse and really enjoyed it! The acoustics were excellent, and the intimate size of the theatre means there isn’t a bad seat in the house. I was especially impressed by the clever set design. The way they created the different rooms of the house was so well done. It was also really crafty how they managed Paul’s movement around the stage in his wheelchair during the scenes. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing more shows here. If you want to escape the chaos of heading into Toronto and avoid the overpriced tickets of most Mirvish shows, St. Jacob’s Playhouse is a fantastic alternative - great performances, reasonable prices, and a charming local atmosphere.

Nice, cozy little theatre. We've seen several Drayton productions there and they're always amazingly well done. My only caveat is not to buy front row tickets unless you're really tall as the stage is quite high up.

The Waterloo Pioneer Memorial Tower is an impressive stone structure with a copper roof, constructed to pay tribute to the German pioneers who settled in the region during the early 1800s. The tower offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape and is a popular destination for photographers, hikers, and cyclists alike. It is situated near the Grand River Trail, which leads to a bridge crossing over the grand river. Adjacent homes are picturesque and provide a calm and nature-friendly atmosphere.
Beautiful piece of Kitchener history! Wish it was open to the public, though understandable as to why no one is allowed to climb it (dangerous heights, and vandalism). If you visit in the fall months, make sure you venture over behind the cemetary and check out the splendid views overlooking the Grand river. If you venture down the trail, make sure you check out the awesome metal walking bridge over the river.

A lovely place for photo ops and to enjoy a leisurely walk along the river. The tower is a beautiful backdrop, as were the nearby lilac bushes. Disappointed (but understandable) that the door to the interior stairs of the tower is locked so you can’t enjoy the view from the top lookout. There’s a paved trail to accommodate bikes, strollers, etc. and a small playground with free gravelled parking lot.
CHV — Google review
Beautiful! The tower is open to the public only on special occasions such as Doors Open Waterloo Region.

A monument to remember first amish people who arrived in this area and a small cemetery. A well deserved building in middle of a park land with a beautiful scenery to grand river valley. Nice place for walking and enjoying nature. The problem is this building is hidden from direct view from distance. It is surrounded by residential buildings. But it is nice to see something about early pioneers of Waterloo and surrounding area. More historical facts and information about first settlers including natives will attracts more people.

2023 September 4★ A historic look out tower erected in 1925. As the sign reads: WATERLOO PIONEERS In the year 1800 a small number of Mennonite families arrived from Pennsylvania to settle Block 2, former Six Nations land along the Grand River Mennonites, followed during the next three years until problems regarding ownership of the land curtailed the migration. Representatives were sent back to Pennsylvania to raise the money necessary to secure clear title to the land, with the result that a joint stock company was formed and 60,000 acres purchased. Pennsylvania Dutch settlers quickly took up this land, creating the first sizeable inland settlement in Upper Canada. Located beside Kuntz Park and parking available. Not opened to the public typically. Special events such as Doors Open allow access. Staffed by Parks Canada.

Visited on Good Friday. Free admission. My 5.5 year old loved the great lakes fountain art and various display cases of rocks, minerals, crystals and fossils. Pretty large exhibit over 3 levels. The museum office staff was very friendly and welcoming. We were lucky to get a small loot bag with a pencil, button and rock. A hidden "family gem" to visit!

Free entry (not many people mention this) - no need to buy any tickets. Nice cosy, ambient museum in the heart of University of Waterloo. Has cushioned chairs to sit, washrooms, water station to drink, cafe on the first floor (has tables and chairs)etc. Fossils, rocks, a mine, minerals etc can be found here some of which donated by many across the globe (see photos). Our favourite dog park in KW! Huge open space for dogs to run freely. There are two divided, fenced in spaces; one for smaller dogs and one for larger dogs. It is also nice that the river is just off the path back to the parking lot so the dogs can go for a swim to cool down on a hot day.
Karen L — Google review
We went for the dog park, and were not disappointed. Huge dog park, lots of space to run and a nice shady bit of forest along the one side. One really awesome feature of this dog park is that it has 2 areas; a 25lb and under area, and a no weight restriction area. There's a shared fence between the two areas so large and small dogs can still greet each other without any risk. The park supplies bags, although when I was there, there was a notice that there was no bags because people were abusing this service. It's a beautiful 10 minute walk into where the dog park is from the entrance of Kiwanis park. Nice trail, and well maintained.

The orange cones have been there forever. It's not that hard to fix. They attempted to fix it already. It's a mess. See photo below. And it's constantly muddy and flooded near the main access to lake ...so you have to walk and balance on logs and sticks to get to the lake..or get soaked and muddy. Why not build a bridge or a boardwalk. It's been like this for years and years with restricted muddy access to the main area of the lake. So annoying. Definitely needs some improvement.

Beautiful hidden Gem in the heart of Kitchener. The multi use path is wide, shaded and in great shape. There are a few picnic tables along the route by the lake. Lots of ducks and geese though so use caution in the spring (we all know how the cobra chickens get around their young). There is a turtle Beach sanctuary, please respect it's purpose. It's not for humans. But a beautiful attempt to assist the turtles that live in the lake. The views are stunning, and it's a great place to walk/ride on your way to the downtown core or just to have a coffee.

Nestled in the heart of Kitchener, The Registry Theatre is a cherished community hub that brings together a diverse array of events, from concerts and lectures to captivating performances. This historic venue offers an intimate atmosphere, making it perfect for date nights or simply enjoying a night out with friends. With its charming seating arrangement—comfy chairs arranged in seven rows—the theatre creates a cozy setting where you can truly immerse yourself in the experience.
A nice, intimate venue. It only holds about 125, a nice place to see a band. Seating is on steel frame stackable chairs with cushion. Not the most comfortable but OK. Sound was good for this show. I saw Mike Murray doing a Jeff Beck tribute. No concessions at the venue. Very simple and easy.
Scott T — Google review
Think jewel-box acoustics, flawless sightlines, and a team that runs shows with quiet precision. The Registry is a true Waterloo Region gem with equal parts incubator for new voices and stage for world-class, Grammy-winning talent. Small room, big artistry. Discovering The Registry Theatre was akin to finding a 500-carat diamond in my own backyard!
Angela P — Google review
First time here staff kindly helped me with the door since its a bit heavy. It's a welcoming place with a nice sense of community. The acoustics gave me goosebumps. They have a mini concession with basic snacks and alc bervages (beer, wine, cider). Next time I would show up early to pick our seats and bring something to sit on for extra cushion as the chairs are not comfortable for long.
Madison C — Google review
Went to see that 70's Rock Show. Had to blast. The band was fantastic!!!
Viv G — Google review
I attended this evening to go see Dimitri Goes To Hollywood, as a first timer who had never been to a live performance before. From the moment we entered we were greeted with smiles and were very accommodating with seating. The show was a brilliant performance and the story was *chefs kiss* every cast member engaged with the audience making everyone laugh. From the props, to sound, lights and the actors this was definitely worth the trip from Hamilton. If you’re looking for entertainment this group knows how to put on a show and definitely worth going. I surely hope they’ll be putting on another performance just like this one as I will be attending again. Thanks everyone for an amazing experience.
Tara S — Google review
Very rustic. A different experience but enjoyable. Not large and easy to see the performance. Arrive early to get parking.
Paul G — Google review
The staff are helpful and the space is small but big enough for a well organized production. The audio-visual team is great to work with. The seating is theatre style with 7 rows with 15 seats each. In a Covid environment, not all the seats can be used due to social distancing. The building seems to lack wheelchair access. There is an intimate atmosphere to the space.
Greg C — Google review
I've been here for a few events now and they've all been great. This is a very old building so as far as I can see it isn't very accessible for those with mobility issues. There are unique shows here that you don't even realize you're missing out on. I've seen a small play, stand up comedy and now an illusionist show. The seating is chairs with cushions and the concession isn't always operating. I would recommend to most to give it try and I will definitely revisit.

Customers rave about the excellent service, with staff going above and beyond to ensure satisfaction, even stepping in during special occasions like weddings when things don’t go as planned.
Owner is very knowledgeable. Made some good recommendations for our wedding wine (we ordered 4 batches - 120 bottles). Open and honest guy, not looking to up-sell or make extra cash off of you. Will re-review once we get wine feedback from the guests!

The Crew at the Winexpert Kitchener are fantastic! Can't have enough good to say about them. We had a batch of wine for our wedding that half of it went bad. They are not only replacing the whole batch but got us some wine to get us through our pinch in time for the wedding. Always a pleasure and will continue to recommend and use them :)

review date: april 4, 2022 visitation date: april 3, 2022 i came to the activa sportsplex to watch a friend's son play hockey vs the kitchener jr. rangers, so i just wanted to share my experience and opinions. the activa sportsplex (AS) in kitchener, is a modern-day, environmentally friendly facility that has 2 nhl-size rinks, a walking track on the top level on of the rinks, a workout room and a boxing training facility. what i appreciate about the walking track, it is available to the public year round, with excellent daily hours, at no cost of admission. very thoughtful to provide such for people to have an opportunity to get their walking exercise in an indoor climate controlled environment. 💯 there are also two rooms available to rent for meetings and banquets. the facility hosts public skating, organized hockey (jr rangers) and shinny hockey games. they do have a food/snack service that comes with limited hours. parking on the property is in abundance, and free of charge for visitors. people here are polite, some friendly, but overall it is a welcoming environment. i like the usage of natural light that brightens the interior. bonus: really appreciated the pictures and displays of nhl guys that were involved with kitchener minor hockey. the scott stevens pictures and jersey frame were really nice. 🔥 this is my 2nd hockey facility that i've visited in kitchener this year. with AS, just like the aud, the city of kitchener does a great job in maintaining their hockey facilities! 💙 bottom line: i would return to the AS to watch hockey games. i would recommend AS to to those for watching and playing hockey games.
Steven_igo_4uf — Google review
I recently visited a local sport center to try out their indoor walking track, and I was pleasantly surprised! The indoor path is cool and comfortable, which makes walking so much easier—no sweating or feeling overheated like you would outdoors on a hot day. What I really enjoyed was that while walking, you can watch hockey games or training sessions taking place on the rink below. It keeps things interesting and adds a fun, energetic vibe to your walk. Whether you’re there for fitness or just looking for a change of scenery, this place is definitely worth checking out!

This facility has 2 arena's with excellent seating to view games. Handicap parking and accessibility. Washroom facilities which are nicely maintained. They also have a walking track with designated slow, medium and fast lanes.

What a great venue! The ice is top notch and the dressing rooms are always clean. It has been a pleasure coming here for skates with my son.

Nice arena. Needs to have a Canteen available. It costs like 4.50 for a Halloween sized snack from the vending machine. What is this work coming to? 4.00 for a bottle of Disani water when there is a water fountain beside it.

Kolb Park, located at 594 Sundew Dr in Waterloo, is a beautiful city park offering various activities such as fishing, boating, and walking along the Grand River Trail. The park is home to diverse wildlife including birds, fish, and turtles, making it an ideal spot for a quick nature getaway. Visitors can enjoy the serene ponds for fishing and explore the surrounding trails suitable for walking and biking.
Gorgeous place with walking trails and lakes and river, fishing too lovely place
ILLIA K — Google review
Cute, quiet spot in the middle of the city. Good place for a picnic or trails to walk the dogs. I saw a crane today on my visit. I'll revisit again. Parking lot on site. Short walk to the pond.
Lisa M — Google review
A beautiful spot right in the city. Has two great ponds for fishing and some nice trails for walking and biking. Small amount of parking. Just steps away is the grand river. Alot of wildlife including turtles, birds and fish. A great spot to spend the day if you want to stay close to home.
Brent — Google review
This is a spot just off the Grand River. A couple little ponds here we like taking the kids for some fishing. They are always sure to catch something small, which is still exciting for them. It is very weedy and buggy, which can be a bit of an obstacle at times. Overall, good family fun. People who fish there do need to start cleaning up after themselves better. There is always fishing line and hooks and garbage left, so it is not an area that I would take my dogs. There is just one garbage can at the small parking lot. No other amenities except what nature has provided.
Rachel — Google review
Great place to go for a walk and see some wildlife. Nice trails, ponds with beavers, and tons of different birds. Watch out for hogweed though, that stuff is nasty!

Kuntz Park is a must-see for history enthusiasts, featuring a small graveyard of some of the region's earliest European settlers. The park also offers a large field, a playground, and access to the Grand River Trail. Visitors can enjoy the nearby heritage sites and observe eagles nesting in the area. The park provides open field space for sports games and walking trails along the water. Additionally, there is a cool tower to explore, although climbing to the top may be prohibited due to vandalism.
I have passed the sign for Pioneer Tower many times over the years. I finally stopped by recently. Definitely worth a look! A very pretty structure. It would be cool to climb up, but unfortunately the door is locked. It is also a good place to access some local trails.
Rudy Z — Google review
Interesting (colonial) history. Shame you can no longer go up the tower.

Akash P — Google review
Kinda nice place, but no structure, no amenities, no washrooms, really small parking lot, no information about attractions or to where we should go walk. The view of the river should be better explored. It's a waste of natural resource keeping this gem hidden.
Alex K — Google review
Great place to walk. Not busy at all. Had the trail to ourselves other than a handful of people we passed along our trek.
Melanie C — Google review
Stopped in at this park with my 3 young children while out and about running errands in the Sports World shopping area. The Pioneer Tower is worth checking out, but it was locked up when we visited. There is a nice open green area to run around, a few picnic tables and a small play structure with a couple of swings. There is also plently of parking and access to the Walter Bean trail from this park. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit this park, but if you need a place for the little ones to run around and have a snack after a Costco trip, this is a good stop.

Hiking area
It's a lovely park for a stroll. I have been coming here for fishing and walking the Grand River trail. It's a gravel path but smooth enough for strollers. I have seen many others come here to fish in the river or the ponds. Some also bring their pets for their walks. Please note though, I've been noticing a family coming here on a daily basis and mostly fishing in one of the larger ponds. I'm not sure who to inform but they seem to taking home all the small fish. Not sure if this is a common practice here.
Ranjini M — Google review
This spot is between 2 trails: the one leads to Kolb Park to the right (under the bridge) and the one lead to Bingeman camping to the left. There are 2 small ponds here with lotus and I few a few people were fishing at the ponds. At the point when I visited, the outer path along Grand River were block by fallen tree and there are a few parts I spot giant hog weeds along Grand River so be careful. The trails here doesn't have much tree cover. There's more trees about 2/3 the way toward Bingeman camp site. So I'd recommend this trail on a breezy day and remember your sunscreen as well for an easy walk or hike.
Phuong D — Google review
Perfect for getting off the road to stretch your legs. There are a couple benches in this figure-eight trail to sit down at. It's a small area and you probably wont spend more then twenty minutes here unless you take your time, wonder off the trail a bit, or take one of the linear trails leading to the West or South. In any direction that you face you might be seeing housing, industrial buildings, or highway traffic but the views of the preserved nature on the Grand River here makes it a calming and worth while stop. Parking here has never been a issue. If the garbage near the parking lot is full, please take your garbage home and throw it out there. Please don't leave it on the floor near the garbage.
Jason — Google review
Really nice trails and walkways. The small lakes and ponds are tranquil and there are tons of birds, especially this time of year in spring. Looks like some people fish here as well, along with wide open walkways for families and bikers. Chilled out by the lake for a bit while waiting for a car repair, really nice surprise. Parking lot is available as well
Rob T — Google review
This place is a serene oasis, perfect for finding peace and getting a great workout. It's so quiet that you can actually hear your own inner voice speaking to you. It's a must-visit spot for anyone in need of some tranquility. As I explored the trailway, I noticed some people enjoying a peaceful fishing session. It's amazing how this place caters to different interests, providing a soothing experience for nature lovers and anglers alike. You'll discover a tranquil sanctuary where you can reconnect with yourself and enjoy the beauty of nature.

This is a great facility. There are two pads here, one is a "practice" rink with a small set of stands and the other has a much larger set of stands. Both ice surfaces are great though and are well maintained. There's lots of parking, the change rooms and hallways are not cramped like many of our older facilities, and there is a pretty good selection of restaurants and other shopping nearby if you're looking for a bite to eat after a game or want to combine trips during a practice.

A good gesture to recognize the key role our firefighters play in saving lives. Besides the main structure, the helmets with individual names ensure every single person is remembered.
