Old Salem Museums & Gardens is a historical gem for enthusiasts, offering a deep dive into the Moravian settlement of Winston-Salem in 1766. The meticulously preserved buildings and lush gardens provide a glimpse into colonial America, while costumed interpreters bring history to life. Visitors can tour numerous historic buildings and learn about Moravian life, sample food, and explore an impressive collection of Southern decorative art at The Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts.
Absolutely loved walking around here and learning from all the wonderful historical interpreters. My wife and I stayed at the nearby Brookstown Inn and in the evenings we walked down here after dinner just to enjoy the vibes. If you are buying a ticket to actually go inside the houses I would recommend the all access pass because there’s truly so much to see if you enjoy history, I believe you can definitely make a full day out of it.

Wandering through Old Salem felt like stepping into an 18th-century Moravian village. I was captivated by the aroma of fresh Moravian sugar cake from Winkler Bakery and loved chatting with artisans in authentic shops. The period-dressed interpreters and beautiful gardens made history come alive. A peaceful, charming, and unexpectedly immersive visit—one of my favorite NC experiences!
Amber M — Google review
There were very few people around on a Saturday afternoon in September. I’m told this is very different from mid-Ictober to December, as well as March-July. And 5 hours were not enough. The interpreters were very friendly and knowledgeable, and even though we could visit very few of them, we learnt a lot from each of them. We particularly enjoyed the passion each interpreter brought to their work, and the efforts they made to keep the materials and processes authentic. It was an easy day trip from the Raleigh Durham Chapel Hill area.

Another FIVE-STAR experience in Winston-Salem, strolling through Old Salem Museums & Gardens during the late afternoon hours. We checked into the Historic Brookstown Inn and walked three blocks up to the South Main Street entry point to Old Salem (the location of the historic Mickey Coffee Pot Maker). Easy! Old Salem is an immersive experience offering beautifully preserved and interpreted 18th-19th century history, I was surprised to see a marker on the property where the first Krispy Kreme doughnut store WAS located (see photo). Obviously not 18th-19th history, but still important NC history (love those doughnuts!). Old Salem is perfect for families, history buffs, or anyone who appreciates the heritage and period architecture. Be sure to check out Winkler Bakery, still in operation since 1800! Check out the shops, homes, schools, churches, and the Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts.

I enjoyed spending a day in Old Salem. The museums were interesting as was the architecture. Good way to spend half to a whole day.
Scott S — Google review
Visiting Old Salem this past weekend was like stepping into a living time capsule, and it was pure magic. As a proud Salem College alum, returning to the community brought back so many cherished memories, but experiencing it through the eyes of my son and the rest of our tour group (which included a bunch of adolescent boys!) made it even more special. The historical interpreters—every single one—were phenomenal, keeping both the kids and adults engaged with their storytelling and knowledge. I want to give an extra special shout-out to Brother DJ and Sister Stacy in the Salem Tavern, who absolutely stole the show. Their passion, warmth, and authenticity made us feel like we had truly traveled back in time. Thank you, Old Salem, for preserving this history and sharing it in such a meaningful and memorable way. We'll be talking about this visit for a long time to come!
Lauren Y — Google review
This building seems to be the visitor center for Old Salem its set up nicely with different historical displays and lots of information regarding Old Salem inside there's a gift shop and ticket Information desk as well as a auditorium great place to start your adventure on your walk through the historic moravian district of salem
Lewis K — Google review
Old Salem Museums & Gardens stands out for rigorous preservation and clear interpretation of Moravian town life. Winkler Bakery occupies a 1799 bakery that remains operational with a wood-fired oven and historic recipes, representing one of North Carolina’s longest-running bakery traditions and a rare working foodways site. The Single Brothers’ House interprets Salem’s organised communal economy. As residence and training ground for unmarried craftsmen, it anchors narratives about skilled trades, self-sufficiency, and town planning; today it functions as a core exhibit building within the historic district. Across these sites, Old Salem advances an inclusive mission that foregrounds the stories of Moravian, Black, and Indigenous peoples, strengthening its significance as a research-grounded, living-history museum rather than a static streetscape. I highly recommend people to stop by to experience and learn about the history of these lands.

Reynolda House Museum of American Art is a stunning estate with well-maintained gardens that showcase American art spanning from 1755 to the present day, including rotating exhibitions. The mansion itself has an intriguing history and knowledgeable staff were on hand to answer any questions. Visitors can freely explore the home while docents offer insights into its historical significance. It's a fantastic local attraction that offers a great way to spend a few hours with family or as a solo adventure.
I came here for the first time a couple weekends ago because they were doing free admission and it was a great way to spend my afternoon! I had been to Reynolda Village many times but never realized all the history behind this place. I spent about 2.5 hr walking through the place, reading most of the plaques and really enjoying a lot of the artwork throughout. The house is huge, 4 stories in all. I think my favorite spots were the sleeping porches and then the basement with a shooting range, bowling alley, wet bar, and pool! The main level had a ton of open spaces and lounge areas too. Learning more about the entire family, as well as the overall community was fascinating and gave me a deeper appreciation for RV. If you haven't taken a tour yet, I highly recommend it!
Dee B — Google review
A stunning FIVE-STAR self-guided tour of the Reynolda House Museum, built in 1917 as the family residence of Katharine Smith and R.J. Reynolds on a 1,067-acre estate. This comfortable and regal home is frozen in time, reflecting early 20th-century style, and is brimming with period furniture, artwork, accessories, and clothing/fashions—spanning 64 rooms and 34,000 square feet. Highlights include a pipe organ that fills the home with music, a swimming pool, a ping-pong room, a bowling alley, an indoor shooting range, a bank vault, a walk-in wine cellar, and more. The home sits adjacent to Reynolda Village, Reynolda Gardens, and Wake Forest University. We spent a full day exploring the property, but you can take two hours—or two days—to enjoy your visit at your own pace. Another must-see in Winston-Salem is Old Salem, just a short 4-mile drive from the Reynolda House Museum.

I’ll be honest, I’m not usually a huge historical home fan so take my review with a grain of salt. I did think the home was beautiful though! It was $18 (before tax) and I felt like it was worth it. There are four floors total, though the attic is small. The outside of the house was my favorite with the white exterior and green windows. If you can swing it, I’d recommend going in the afternoon so you can hear the organ play at 2:45 PM (it’s not exact because I guess it takes a while to turn on) and is digitized. It’s pretty cool though to hear the music while you’re walking through the house. I’ll review it separately, but definitely check out the gardens while you are there! They are free!
Lo H — Google review
I have lived with 15 minutes of this Museum for close to 20 years and this was my first visit. What vision Katharine Reynolds had in the early 1900s. The house and the gardens are gorgeous. Walked out a Patron member. Thank you for making today a great day
Gina C — Google review
I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to reynolda house museum in Reynolda village. The walk to the museum was so peaceful and full of nature. I walked past turtles in the river, snakes in the woods, and so many different flowers along the way. It was so special to walk around and see. When I got to the museum it had an exhibit of cigarettes. The whole exhibit was full of history about cigarettes and how they were branded in society. It was really cool to walk around and see so much history. I was happy to get an understanding about how cigarettes were branded and how they came to be so popular in Winston Salem. I’m very happy with this visit to a museum and I totally recommend a visit by anyone who is interested in history, art, or museums.

Great walking trails and scenery. I wish there were more garbage cans throughout the park. I had to cary some trash on an entire 2+ mile walk because I couldn't find a trash can anywhere.

I went when there weren’t any events and it was a pretty and interesting place to walk my dog. Plenty of panels explaining ever stone mound and site which made it pretty educational and a step up from many old colonial ruin sites. All in all it’s not worth a 4hr drive but if you’re in the area it’s a cool place for a walk.
Elijah A — Google review
I drove a few hours to get here and was disappointed because I came for the lotus pond. When I got there found out the trail was not accessible. However, we stayed and explored the grounds. It was very educational and interesting. I did find another was to access the pond which was a short drive away.

Went to the Apple Festival on a beautiful fall day. The crowds were large and well-behaved. Vendors had a wide variety for sale, and all the historic buildings were open for tours. Bethabara was a sister town to Salem where the Moravians settled in 1753 to escape religious persecution. Eleven settlers, each chosen for their distinct occupation, left Bethlehem PA and covered 520 miles in 40 days. The pottery house and the blacksmith were particularly interesting, as was the petting zoo for children. The large barn has displays of various tools used by the Moravians in everyday tasks. There are a few good hiking trails, one of which leads across Minorcas Creek to their God's Acre burying ground. A lot of history here. The only complaint I have is that no one was selling apple cider! Besides that, it was a great time.
Rick M — Google review
Lovely place with some interesting history. We made it on a candle making day and the kids were invited to help. It was pretty special for them, and of course we were sold on buying a few from the gift shop when we left. Could easily spend an hour or two just walking the grounds.
Conrad A — Google review
The historical structures are well marked. Had a lovely time exploring and walking around this Moravian settlement
Andrea — Google review
If you're a history buff, the story of the Moravians and their history in NC is very interesting. We went during the week so there were more staff than the very few other visitors. All were very friendly and informative. The black smithing volunteers have us a personal demonstration and made us a souvenir pot hanging hook from a steel bar ... very cool and interesting. They also had an assortment of metal tools, etc that would have been used in the settlement and explained what they did. I loved it! We only spent and hour and half or so, so we didn't take the guided tour, but I'm sure it would been very interesting. We did watch the we 20 minute video and read a lot of the plaques in the visitors center. Highly recommend if you enjoy history.

Brewery
Nestled in the heart of Downtown Winston-Salem, Foothills Brewing Tasting Room stands as a beacon for craft beer enthusiasts. Established in 2005, this brewery has made a name for itself as one of the largest in the southeastern United States, boasting an impressive lineup of award-winning brews like Jade IPA and Hoppyum IPA. The tasting room offers not just exceptional beers but also a delightful menu featuring tasty pub fare and coffee options.
A lovely evening at Foothills, we arrived during "movie night" on the weekend. A lot of people in lawn chairs in the parking lot watching a big screen that might possibly have been showing, and I'm not kidding here, cat videos. Over 100 people out there for that. We were inside where there was a live band playing loudly, some comfy seats in the back gave us some distance and enough quiet to be able to hold a conversation. I enjoyed a Foothills Torch Pilsner and it was awesome. Mrs. K., who doesn't drink alcohol, thoroughly enjoyed one of their Little Frees hemp-infused sparkling water. Enjoyed it so much that we bought a four-pack of that to bring home. With the drinks, a box of sushi from the Sushi Empire Food Truck. Delicious. Much fun had here and I will definitely return. Awesome!
Bruce K — Google review
The beer here is as close to fresh as it gets - brewed onsite! Outstanding selection of year around favorites & seasonal brews. Want some food? Great wings and things from the near permanent food truck, can be ordered from the bar on the same tab. TOAST TAB is the POS used. My favorite - FROSTBITE is a black IPA. Service is fast & friendly. Daily specials from Trivia, Music, Yoga, Run Club all meet different days. Consult website for exact schedule.
David D — Google review
I decided to attend one of the music bingo hosted by Foothills Brewing. It was my first time, so I was not aware of how the game played. It looks like groups of people gather for this event as a hangout day with friends. They had all kind of beers. If you got hungry, stationed next to the place was a food truck where you can place your order on the phone. Once your complete your order they will text you when your order is ready. It was a cool atmosphere with good music. I will definitely return.
Katherine L — Google review
I’ve been to the tasting room a few times now to grab a beer and check out the live music. The food truck sells some pretty good food. The brews are always amazing. Live music has always been enjoyable. I’d definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a laid back vibe.
Jason C — Google review
Great place. Many different beer choices from their brewery and others. They also have their own food truck on site. Food was awesome. We had the smoked wings, and the Reuben . Live music on Sunday afternoon was a nice treat. We also stayed in site with Harvest Host in our RV. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Joel M — Google review
My husband and I recently popped in on a beautiful Saturday. We loved the permanent food truck and we also purchased a bag of coffee (excellent merch selection too). Of course, tons of options on tap and in the case.

Live music this evening. Food was ok, and the vibe was nice

So glad this brewery is just 5 minutes from my house. I know a lot of people like to go to the downtown breweries, but this is a great spot here. Always has something going on....yet areas away from everything you can just chill with your beer if you want.

This 19th-century general store is a unique attraction in the city, brimming with local flavor and rich history. This was my first visit to the Winston-Salem Mast General Store. Happy they were open on Labor Day. We have visited a few locations including the original store in Valle Crucis & Boone. I love their quality merchandise & great service! They had a lot of end of Summer sale merchandise that is worth checking out! I know folks especially with kids that visit just for the candy! Fun nostalgic place. Old school candy, wooden floors that creak when you walk. 2 levels. Toys and jellies you won't find anywhere else. Books, postcards, magnets, shirts. There's a whole hiking section. Parking deck next door.

What a fun place! Great selection of nice clothing and shoes for men, women, and children. Great camping and hiking supplies too. There is also a fun old time candy store right there in the general store. For a trip back in time you have to check out the Mast General Store

Great modern day store with a old general store fill.. Have all the knickknacks and candies you'd expect with modern camping gear, clothes, knives, and other neat things. There are 2 stories, the downstairs is shoes, clothes and a knife section. Staff are super nice and helpful. Great place to just check out. We were told to and happy we stopped in.

We were excited to come in and shop but we feel we were treated differently because of our race. My mother stood at the register while the two store clerks who appeared to be following us most of the time we were there, all of a sudden didn’t see us. They finally came to help us check out and were rude and standoffish. We left feeling awful and disappointed.

Cool old fashion general store. Had to get some emergency supplies b/c I forgot them when I packed. They had toiletries, shoes, and clothes. Looked morr like an out doors type place, but had the things I needed.

Even though the mast general store in the city it is just like the others out in the country area. You will still be stepping back in time by squeaky floors and buckets of candy. I will always enjoy a mast general store.

Reynolda Gardens-Wake Forest used to be the gardens of a magnificent estate and is now accessible during daylight hours. The gardens include a greenhouse with various plants that can be seen by walking through it in about 10 minutes, but one can do multiple laps due to the numerous captivating sights. Additionally, there are lovely outdoor gardens that change throughout the seasons, making each visit unique.
I love the greenhouse and gardens here. It’s free and open to the public. The greenhouse had specific hours, but the gardens do not. We really enjoyed seeing the beauty of the gardens. With spring here, it’s blooming so pretty! The greenhouse has a variety of specimens and even some you can buy. I recommend a walkabout when you have the chance.

THIS IS FREE! Absolutely incredible site to see and truly worth an admission fee! I love that Wake Forest has curated this stunning array of flowers and landscaping to create a peaceful oasis. Easily accessible to the Reynolda Mansion as well as walkable to the Reynolda Village. Plenty of parking, just follow the signs and pack your walking shoes. There is a lot to explore. Clean restrooms on site near the greenhouse. A perfect stop for anyone to visit, but a great stop on a long road trip such as myself! Stretched my legs, grabbed a coffee in the village and filled my camera roll with tons of flower pictures. Mid May the Roses were in the height of their bloom and were spectacular!

Beautiful plants and garden, my pics here are in the fall but the greenhouse still has lots of beauty to see and it’s nice to walk around! You can see plants labeled from all over the world and learn more about horticulture and types of plants! They have a large variety and many plants we have never seen or heard of! Also a great place if you are trying to pick plants to do landscaping or decoration with at your house or property! You can also buy plants and the welcome center is nice, staff was pleasant and they have gifts and souvenirs you can buy! This place is free to enter and explore. Great place for a picnic too! There are also restaurants and stores to visit and enjoy while here too!

Amazing place with so much history to see. It's a great shame some mean spirited folks are causing it to close. It seems so unfair. The owner and staff have such a passion for the history of the sport.

Salem Lake is a hidden gem in Winston-Salem! The 7-mile walking and biking trail around the lake is peaceful, scenic, and well-maintained—perfect for a morning run or afternoon stroll. The lake itself is beautiful, with plenty of spots to fish, kayak, or just relax and take in the view. There’s also a visitor center with clean restrooms and helpful staff. This park is a gem. 7+ mile loop around Salem lake for walking, running, biking. Trail is wide enough for all to use without causing problems. You can also fish, and rent canoes, kayaksand rowboat. Whenever I go I see wildlife. Nice little interpretive display in marina highlighting local animals. Connects into local greenway system.

Been coming here for years, riding bike and running around the lake. Great views, and the staff do what they can to maintain the groomed trail, although they are often hampered by city budget, etc. Most recently, they have had city maintenace drop in loads of dirt to help smooth out some of the more eroded sections, which has been a big help. They have also established the Jesus Trail, which isn't groomed, for those seeking a more woodsy (and challenging!) experience.

Gorgeous Trail around the entire lake. I’ve walked dozens of times and biked several times. Also a Beautiful spot for kayaking. And a Big park for children. Going today to fish on kayak.

Beautiful and well manicured in town park. Great place to just relax. You can see live music here and the occasional movie. Always something going on. Close to restaurants, bars, and coffee. Parking on the street or nearby decks.

Love Bailey Park. It's a wide item grassy space with covered and not covered seating on one end and it's surrounded by an eclectic assortment of businesses, including restaurants, bars, breweries, coffee shops, and a yoga studio. Beautiful, well kept park in a quaint little area. Lots of little restaurants, coffee shops and stores to check out all within walking distance. Restrooms were also clean and in good order. There were plenty of tables with umbrellas if you want to bring a picnic and eat while people watching. Saw lots of people with dogs as well so I do believe it is a dog friendly park. We were here for a 5K and have to say it was just a beautiful spot. Took lots of cute pictures of my kids.

The grounds were lush and green! The restrooms were ok. The Amphitheatre was facing away from the vending area but it carried the music across the lawn area. The ornamental were gorgeous - I would lean towards a herbal or urban garden usage for added value! Overall a well thought out location but it needs more public parking.

Körner's Folly, located in Kernersville, North Carolina, is a unique 19th-century house museum with 22 period-furnished rooms. Built by Jule Gilmer Korner in 1880, this architectural wonder features a cross-gable roof and served as a home, stable, and carriage house. The interior was designed to showcase home decor options to clients.
We decided to take a road trip to Kernersville and visit a few places as it was a beautiful Fall day. We've been to Korner's Folly previously, but we couldn't pass up this sunny, warm day. The staff members, Britt and Claire, were very welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable. Other staff members were busy getting the house decorated for the holidays! 🎄 We again enjoyed the self paced tour. Love all of the history in this house! Looking forward to coming back again when all of the decorations and trees are set up.

We enjoyed our trip to Korners Folly. The house is a part of history, and we enjoyed walking the house and the property. This activity is NOT recommended for anyone unable to climb stairs or navigate under low ceilings. The tours are self guided and start right up till 3 o'clock (one hour before closing). There are plenty of parking and tickets were fairly reasonable for a quick activity. This was my second visit, and time was nice because renovation work back in 2021 is complete, and many of the rooms were slightly different than before. If you like history and architecture this is the place for you. They are closed on Monday.
Caroline O — Google review
Amazing!! Worth the trip! Even my 16-year old son was engaged and came away recommending it. Watch the video at the visitors center beforehand so you can appreciate the house even more. I will return any time I get up that way. 5-stars!!!

Amazing bit of national history. One of the first interior designers in the US. The house is still under renovations and has changed vastly since it was built. Very knowledgeable staff, and self guided tour. Narrow halls and stairs, low ceilings may make it challenging for some. If you appreciate the guilded age, you will love this home's story. Worth the visit

Take all the time you want wandering through this turn-of-the-last-century display home to see authentic examples of interior design, furnishings and architecture faithfully restored. Each room has an explanatory card to give you an idea what you are looking at, but there are layers and layers of details. My husband was not interested at all and only went to humor me. He enjoyed his visit and spent as much time as I did seeing how things were put together and old technology.

The Quarry at Grant Park, located in Winston-Salem, is a sprawling 200-acre park offering stunning views of the city skyline and the serene blue waters of Piedmont Quarry. This former quarry operated from the 1920s to the 1970s and now serves as a picturesque rocky pool. Visitors can enjoy nature walks and admire panoramic vistas of the skyline. The 12-acre lake within the quarry reaches depths of up to 150 feet in some areas.
The sunset views from this location were exceptional. The locks themselves possess an intriguing, almost secretive quality, hinting at the experiences of past visitors. The lake view from the deck is also breathtaking. The journey and any wait were certainly worthwhile. However, graffiti on some signage and infrastructure presents a notable aesthetic concern.
JP R — Google review
Very cool reuse of a mining operation. Lots of play space and the overview terrace that looks out at the quarry is well done - it is artistic, industrial, roomy, and safe. I walked the 2-ish mile paved path through the woods. That parh was very quiet, broad, and well maintained. Lots of wisteria in bloom when I went, which is not great for the health of the woods. There were no benches along the path. There is, in general, a lack of shade or places to rest in this park. There are very nice benches by the 0verlook, below it. I wish the grand green area had some shade spots instead of just open lawn, with benches, and gardens or maybe a water feature like a splash pad. The pavilion was being used for birthday parties so those seats were all rented and unavailable to the general visitor. Plenty of free parking, and they paid attention to providing a lot of handicap spots (thank you!).
Christopher F — Google review
It's a beautiful park. There are a few playground structures and what looks like a splash pad for the kids . There is also a huge enclosed structure with a slide, but it is high and the climb is tarps and ropes; easy for younger kids to fall through what seems like a 2 story high or more structure. It's pretty though.

~Quarry Park is definitely one of Winston-Salem’s gems. The lookout tower gives you a great view of the quarry, and along the walk you’ll find informative displays about the different types of rock that were dug out here. It’s not a long visit, but it’s a beautiful spot for photos, a peaceful stroll, and a chance to enjoy one of the city’s feature attractions. Worth the trip!

Black Mountain Chocolate offers more than just delectable treats; it provides an immersive experience in the art of bean-to-bar chocolate making. The factory allows visitors to witness the magic of chocolate production and indulge in some of the finest sweets available. With a variety of flavors, including classic salted caramel and hazelnut, as well as unique options like lavender and Texas Pete, their truffles are a true delight. The attention to detail in packaging adds to the overall experience.
I’m not even sure where to begin, so I’m just going to opening saying that this place is really cool. The vibe and decor offer a unique blend modern tastes and sensibilities, while offering eclectic “blast from the past” items, such as the old poll-rod vending machines. Well this is located in a very unique location, I almost felt like I was walking into a different world, when walking through the doors. We were helped by two lovely staff members, who were attentive, enthusiastic about what they are a part of and were very knowledgeable about all of their products. I do not consume alcohol, but if I did, the bar and seating area looked very inviting and the drinks that we observed, looked like works of art. The desserts spin from the small chocolate treats, all the way through chocolate cheesecake. I enjoyed a fresh peach and oatmeal bar, which was delicious. Definitely plan to come to this location again.

OMG I really love Black Mountain chocolate just off of Patterson Avenue in downtown Winston-Salem. First of all, it’s located in such a cool neighborhood. A great place to hang out. They’ve got a delicious selection of chocolate truffles and other sweet treats. I go there to get gifts for clients, but I always bring back something for the family as well. You should definitely check them out.

I've been wanting to visit here for awhile. The entrance is hidden but worth finding. Across the street from Bailey Park. It is where an old factory was at so the giant columns are where coal storage used to be. They make chocolate here and have windows for you to observe. Everything I saw and sampled was dark chocolate and delicious. They also have Gelato and make beverages. A 3.2 oz bar is $14.50 but they have bundle prices. I got 3 bars for us to share. Glad I checked it out.
Colleen L — Google review
The Black Mountain Chocolate Experience (Walk-in Edition). Since their move to their new location, I have been trying to make it to Black Mountain Chocolate for some time. Unfortunately, their site is downtown, where parking is limited and horrible during the week between working hours. So today was the day I told myself I would walk a mile if necessary to try them out. Upon entering their location, I was greeted and saw the significant upgrades from their previous site. It was open and spacious. I ordered the chocolate cheesecake and chocolate chip cookies. The chocolate cheesecake did have an excellent chocolaty taste, but the texture was not as creamy and smooth as most cheesecakes. I have not had their cheesecake before, so this was my first time trying it out. However, the chocolate chip cookie was the bomb and still offers a chocolate taste like no other. I would go back to Black Mountain Chocolate, but everything depends on parking and if I'm up for the hike. Nevertheless, I will not try their cheesecake again.

One of the best places for chocolate in winston. They have a tour you can take of the facility from start to finish, and they have a great little drinks area and places to sit in addition to the chocolate bars they have out. Samples available. I guess you can decide if the $6 bars are worth it to you. The quality is obviously extremely high.
Gabriel Y — Google review
Lovely location with plenty of parking in the vicinity. Can watch the chocolate making process through glass windows through a public hallway in the store. The front is where you can order from the cafe menu and make purchases of wrapped chocolate. The staff was very friendly and helpful when I asked them about recommended products and shipping prices. Bought several bars of chocolate here for souvenirs/Valentine's day and was not disappointed!

I love this new 🍫 chocolate shop in downtown Winston in Bailey South Power Plant in the new recently renovated factory area. The shop is modern and has a great selection of macarons, truffles, tortes, tarts and 🍪 cookies/brownies that are to die for. I recommend the cocoa nib brownie, the chocolate chess tart and the banana pudding macaron. The new location has outdoor seating and ♿ handicap accessible parking, 🚻 restrooms, and seating.

I pre-ordered some Valentine's day truffles and WOW! Black Mountain Chocolate outdid themselves. So many different flavors, including a classic salted caramel and hazelnut, as well as more unique flavors like lavender and Texas Pete. Nestled in the heart of historic Trade Street, Broad Branch Distillery is a gem for spirit enthusiasts and casual visitors alike. This distillery prides itself on crafting exceptional small-batch whiskey, bourbon, and unique alternatives like Nightlab—a delightful substitute for tequila—and rum. Each batch is meticulously tempered and aged to highlight the rich aromas and flavors that define their spirits.
Came here for a quick 🥃🍹🍸 drink at their fun bar with tons of comfortable seating. I was surprised to find knowledgeable staff, a free bourbon, rum, and whiskey tasting (along with some moonshine) and learned a lot along the way. They also have fun merchandise, indoor and outdoor seating, ♿ handicap accessible 🅿️ parking, seating, and 🚻 restrooms.

I visited Broad Branch for drinks and to catch up with a friend and I enjoyed the entire experience. The space was welcoming with plenty of room to hang out, lounge and relax and a full bar you can hang out at. They also have a wonderful tasting room where we had the opportunity to enjoy a whiskey tasting led by one of their amazing staff members. The staff member was very knowledgeable about the history of the space and the whiskey they distill and was very nice and generous with his time. The selection of spirits were impressive and I will definitely return for another drink and to explore more of their whiskey cocktails. Add it to the favorites list!

A Gem, this place makes you feel like they really want you to come to try their best bourbon. For those who are truly about Whiskey this is a must. Recommend Rye fidelity’s line and the Big Winston. The Rum selection is as good! Will come back again whenever around NC.

We popped in here just to check it out cause we've never been in here before, but we've been to fiddlin fish a million times. So, with that being said, this place is actually amazing, the staff member that was running us through the spirits was extremely knowledgeable and extremely welcoming. He gave us the complete run down on everything involved in the creation of their spirits and then allowed us to try what we wanted, instead of making us taste what they want. I am not a whiskey drinker at all, but I ended up buying a bottle of their wood exploration (absolutely amazing!!!)! The atmosphere is super relaxed and they are extremely welcoming. We look forward to going back and trying their mixed drinks.

Walking around Winston-Salem with a few families, the parents wanted to try a few drinks, so we checked BBD out. They have 2 parts, one had a bar and a little market with local foods. This was actually a great spot for us. All the kids sat at a table where we ordered them some food. They really like the nachos. The parents sat at the bar. We then noticed that they had a tasting area in the adjacent room. This little bar you could do a tasting of their whisky, moonshine, rums, and ryes. They even had their own bitters, so a few of us did a few tastings. The bartender was very knowledgeable, actually both bars the staff were great! They also have this cool cigarette machine they've made into an art distributor. You put $5 in and pick your knob of what kind of art you want, and you get a surprise. We got a couple of cool wire scorpions. Great place! We loved it!

Absolutely brilliant experience -- staff here was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and engaged. The bottle tasting was a great experience, they have fun merch to get as gifts or for yourself - and it's in the heart of an amazing part of Winston-Salem! This was our first visit on a Saturday. I highly recommend this place! They do not do tours or or tastings on weekends. The bar tender let us taste their products we were interested in. I tried their hit toddy and my husband had an old fashioned and we both really enjoyed our drinks. The staff were very helpful and friendly offering their opinions and advice on their menu. If you are in Winston Salem you should visit!

The museum integrates activities like painting, reading, drawing, and building into its exhibits while providing ample space for kids to run, climb, and play. Visitors can expect interactive experiences suitable for various age groups. The new location boasts four floors to explore with a rooftop opening soon.
It was my son’s 7 birthday and he wanted to come here after going with his school earlier in the year. I took my 19 and 12 year old girls and they all had a fun time. We went for 4 hours until they closed! The price was reasonable. We will return. Staff was nice, bathrooms were clean. I enjoyed squeegee the water area. lol that was a great idea to add that. Because in fact I did want to do that. My kids enjoyed doing it too. Which is oddly funny.

Kaleideum in downtown Winston-Salem was a great experience for our family. I took my 5-year-old and newborn, and we all had a great time. There were tons of hands-on exhibits that kept my older kid engaged and excited, and the space was very family-friendly and easy to navigate with a stroller. The staff was friendly and everything felt clean and well-maintained. It’s the kind of place you can visit again and again — highly recommend for families with young kids!

WOW! This place is so beautifully designed and well thought out! We absolutely love taking our six-year-old and four-year-old. The rooftop playground is incredible. Every floor has something accessible for everyone. So much fun!

ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL! From check in the front desk staff was very patient, professional and friendly-especially Tracy!! They even offer sensory bags to sign out if you or your child needs them. 4 floors- exactly- 4 FLOORS of varying learning and science activities all through FUN BASED PLAY. They even had animal exhibit section that featured exotic parrots! There are in dining options, 360 camera photo booths, and on the rooftop a huge playground experience. I took my 6 year old son and even I had a great time!! Definitely family oriented location but ONLY downside is the parking.
S L — Google review
Amazing science type center. Parking is also validated for a discount rate. There is a rooftop playground that the kids wouldn't leave until they were forced by a rain storm. There are 4 amazing floors of activities. If we lived within a 1 hour range we would easily be pass holders. My kids loved the rube Goldberg ball machines and the arts and crafts on the top floor. A note on parking. I adamantly never want to pay to park. There is enough street parking that you could get if you come early on the weekends. But less than $10 for all day parking when you have kids is a decent convenience

I used to love Sciworks. It was great for all ages. Even after they turned into Kaleideum, but when they merged the two Kaleideums into one in the nice new building I had high hopes for family fun. I took my kids only to find out that hardly anything there was geared toward anybody older then a toddler. It was no longer family fun but quite boring. My kids were ready to go shortly after we arrived. The playground on top was the only worthy thing there. So at that point I figured I would not be coming back. Recently with the birth of my newborn, the hospital gave me a family pass for a year membership. I was told I could bring up to 10 people and had to redeem it within 6 months after delivery. To get the most out of it I waited til right before my little turned 6 months to start my membership. Before that is pretty pointless since newborns are just observers and not active at playing. So I decided to give Kaleideum a second chance. They didn't want to accept my pass saying it wasn't their current pass but would be willing to give just me and baby a 6 month pass, since I was supposed to redeem within 3 months even though the pass says 6 months. After I asked for a supervisor she said she could add Dad onto the pass for 6 months but not my other son regardless of what their pass promised me. If I wanted to get the membership promised to me I would have to pay extra. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Its not worth your time and they false advertise, which if I'm not mistaken is illegal.

Love this place. My kids easily burn 3-4 hours of energy here and more if I let them. There are a few areas that change with seasons which keep visits fresh and non repetitive. Various things for all ages to do. I recommend the water room last so your kids dont have to stay wet or bring a change of cloths. Theres a huge playground on the roof that my kids love and a cute stage area for my daughter to do plays. Worth the money, bring snacks or be ready to walk to a nearby restraunt for food.

Visitors can explore themed areas that keep kids engaged and entertained. The museum features a library area, workshop, imaginative play space, and a unique outdoor hanging playground.
This is a FANTASTIC space for younger and athletic kids. Tons of spaces to climb and stretch, a fabulous "theater" space, and an awesome section of handmade wooden toys that explored simple machines and gravity. My 5yo had an absolute blast. Everything was clean and well organized with a friendly staff.

My little brother had a blast! We did just about everything but story time (we just missed it!). We took a walk around downtown to get some air and we came back for a little. He really enjoyed himself. I recommend coming earlier in the day.

Went here for the first time for a field trip with my daughter. Lots of interactive fun for kids. Unfortunately, she had a broken arm and could not do the climbing structures so we will be going back when her arm is healed. Will definitely recommend this place to my friends with young children.

My 2-year old had a total blast here! We got some free tickets from my friend's job and showed up early in the morning. The kids had so much fun we stayed for four hours! They were completely wiped out by the time we left

This is an amazing place to bring children of any age. My two year old son had a blast here! There's a library area, workshop, a huge imaginitive play area, a climable multi story beanstock, and an extremely unique outdoor hanging playground. Although there is no place to buy food in the building, they do have vending machines and areas to eat brought in food. While visiting on a Friday afternoon they had music time in the library where kids got to sing along, make music, and dance. This place is one of a kind and must see especially if you have young kids!

Fun Day! I wish the entrance is cheaper for younger toddlers. We went on a Saturday around 1pm, about 10 minutes later the place was packed! The most popular area was the Krispy Kreme donut factory. It was hard to allow my 12month old walk around that area as busy older kids can easily bump on her. She definitely enjoyed watching all big kids around her. We will definitely go back!

This is a small but nice children's museum. There is an adorable grocery store and donut shop. There is also a very cute area with a little forest and houses. It's great to take small children too.

Located in Downtown Winston-Salem on Liberty Street, ARTivity on the Green is an innovative art-themed outdoor park that showcases various art installations, murals, and a sculpture garden. Since its opening in 2015, it has successfully combined art and nature to revitalize the area. The park has gained popularity for offering free live music and seasonal events with local vendors, attracting large crowds.
Whoa, what a wonderful park! It seems like fewer and fewer places are prioritizing public spaces and public art, so it's refreshing to see them both together in one place. I loved getting to stroll through the park, finding new things to discover around every corner.

A fun and exciting art park next to Red Dog Gallery! The red lines run across the winding sidewalks, erupting upwards from the ground to create pedestrian benches, light and even mist features! The mounds of well-manicured earthworks extrude from the pathways in artistic fashion. There is also a thoughtful spray art mural along the back wall.

Super cool art install! There's alot going on. So the wall in the back changes from time to time. Revisiting is ideal from time to time. Better than that they take suggestions on what to paint!! Cmon now who does that? Highly recommended go check it out

A fun spot in the city for kids to run around. It is starting to look a little run down, but worth a stop nonetheless. It’s a small park that can take 10 min to check out, or kids could run around for 30 min. Some cool murals are being painted along the wall. You may get to see the artists in action when you’re there. When you’re in the area, stop by Bailey Park and at Incendiary Brewery and the pizza shop next door

It's a good place to visit and full of restaurants in the area, but it's better if you visit while it's daytime, in my opinion for safety reasons.

Love this new addition to downtown that is officially a staple now. As a huge arts community, this art 🏞️ park is perfect for kids and art enthusiasts alike as a place to chill or meet up for food truck event's on the weekend. They also feature local artists with murals, have a free community library, and have ♿ handicap accessible features.

Triad ECO Adventures offers a variety of exciting ways to explore Winston-Salem. Their Segway tour is a popular choice, providing a thrilling 2-hour ride through the city after receiving safety training. For those who prefer other options, they also offer water tours and stand-up paddle boarding. Additionally, visitors can enjoy an electric bike tour with knowledgeable guides or opt for a charming trolley ride for special events like weddings.
I found this place at random and so grateful I did. Staff is knowledgeable, warm and inviting. I asked and got a delightful local breakfast recommendation. Rented a manual bike. Staff gave easy directions to Greenway. Pedaled around Salem lake and back. Absolutely perfect weather and scenery. Bike handled like it was brand new. Gears shifted smooth, even when around times of applying torque. Bike felt sturdy and I felt safe. I bike a lot and have a sense of quality. Refreshing how much of a cut above my experience was. Until you kiss a few frogs.... likewise, until you rent a bike that hasn't been cared for. This place delivers on a good time.

We have gone to Triad ECO Adventures several times for Segway riding. This time we did an E-bike nature trail tour. All of our adventures have been fun and worth the money. I would recommend this company to anyone. The tour guides are knowledgeable about the city and the history. Today David was great.

We had the BEST experience with Triad Trolley and our driver, Randy, on our wedding day! He arrived right on time, drove us to our wedding venue smoothly, and took our guests back and forth from the hotel all night. He had a smile on his face the whole time and was glad to help us in any ways. Our guests LOVED the trolley and couldn’t say enough positive things about it! And the pictures with the trolley turned out SO elegantly. We are so glad we stumbled upon this business and used it for our wedding - it truly made so many logistics come together and we didn’t have to worry about a thing!

We gave an electric bike tour as a gift to some friends and didn't really know what to expect since it was our first time out. This experience was incredible and so much greater than we could have imagined. Fortunately our weather was perfection so it was such a pleasure riding around Winston-Salem on an e-bike! Our guide, Lynn, was helpful and patient teaching us how to operate the gears and use the throttle function. It was so great to use that when going up the notorious hills around the city! We stopped at the Quarry, in Old Salem and at other points along the way so Lynn could explain the next stretch ahead. We spent over 2 hours exploring the Greenway and could've gone even longer with the e-bike at our feet. We can't wait to go again!

We had an absolute blast on our Segway Tour! It was my first time ever riding one, and this tour really made me appreciate the vehicle AND provided so much information on both historic Salem and modern Winston. The team is helpful, friendly, and patient with new riders - so don't be nervous if it's your first time, too. Eventually you'll get your Segway Legs (Seg-Legs?), and it'll feel weird to walk on two feet again!

The menu features staples like fried chicken and waffles, fried green tomatoes, okra baskets, and sweet potato cornbread.
Omg! What did I just eat! Wow! This place is amazing. I have so much to say. So first they got me right in with no wait. My waiter was just the best. He told me he was gonna feed me and he did. I started off with tomatoes and okra and it came out the kitchen fast and hot. I have never received my food so fast! Next I had shrimp and grits w/ the sauce on the side and two pieces of fried flounder! For dessert I got the pecan pie. My food was great!!! But my waiter made this place shine!!!

All of the food was so hot and fresh! My friend and I got the fried okra and green tomatoes, pan fried chicken, and miss o’s fish plate! It was so good and filling, the vibes from the good music, friendly staff, and clean environment really made dining here a 10/10. Our server Dwight was the best and I believe James made my wonderful drink, will definitely be back!

In town for one night and found this on google maps, sounded good and we gave it a try. Tasty and homey vibes, friendly staff (a little short staffed perhaps or just a little chaotic) and reasonable prices. We shared the yummy 3 cheese macaroni and the sweet potato cornbread. The cornbread was pretty dry to my taste, wouldn’t get that again. The catfish was very tasty with a nice hot sauce and the shrimp and grits was flavorful and filling. No room for dessert!

I have wanted to get back to this place since last year... finally made it. The food is off the chain good! The Collar dip. 😋. The only reason I gave the service a 3 star is because the waitress was okay and the young lady in training was getting things mixed up. Oh, and the sweet potatoes sangria was AWESOME.. If you go get there when they open, there were a few people already waiting for the doors to open. If you go later, get on the waiting list, BUT it will be worth the wait!!

Dropped in this quaint little place due to a review I saw by the foodie HungryBlackMan. The food - The flavor is immaculate on the Cajun Turkey burger. Never had collard greens on a burger before, but it was amazing. My wife had the wings and they were pseudo bland but meshed well with the mambo sauce. Be careful of that sauce though. It’s spicy!!!! The service - Drew was the coolest guy and gave us wonderful recommendations. He knows his stuff when it comes to food. Very attentive and caring. Atmosphere - Reminds me of a good Southern bar on one side, but a Sunday dinner with the family on the other.
Kyle J — Google review
I heard so many great reviews about their wings so I decided to give them a try— and let me tell y’all I was not disappointed at all! The wings were so crunchy and cooked to perfection and the mambo sauce had the right amount of spice + sweet mixture. Take in mind their hours, although we had arrived 30-35 minutes before they closed and our server made lots of unnecessary remarks basically indicating us to rush, it was very rude and distasteful. Definitely taking it to-go next time to avoid this!
Mozart J — Google review
Pretty pretty prettaay good. The 3 cheese macaroni is to die for !! I would also recommend the shrimps and grit and catfish Nola. Grit was smooth and savoury creamy. As a person that love hot and spicy food, the catfish Nola is made for me. The hot sauce over delicately fried catfish got me smacking my lips. Both was top notch and portions were substantial. As for the sweet potato cornbread, it was a little dry. Wished we have room to try the fried chickens and dessert tho. They have indoor and outdoor tables. Its spacious inside with distance between tables and not packed elbow to elbow like many restaurants. The service was genuinely friendly and welcoming and sometimes maybe a tiny bit clumsy with dropping cutleries during cleaning the tables. I see many return customers coming in greets and hugs the employees. ❤️❤️❤️ You craving for some soul food and this is where you dine. Highly recommended !!

Terrible. I traveled all the way from NY to support this establishment and was extremely disappointed. As a former bartender I've never sent out a drink without trying it. The "punch" was just as watery as a capri sun. Since when is any punch that color. We asked the server if we could have the drinks remade, comped or substituted and she advised that the manager/bartender declined. We also ordered the sweet potato corn bread which was about a 4/10, it simply wasn’t to my liking, nothing bad to say about it. We cancelled our dinner orders after the drink situation & paid the bill for the drinks and cornbread. The server was great, she handled the situation as best she could as her hands were tied. Once the bill was paid the “bartender” if thats what he should be called appeared with new drinks. I declined after the lack of service from management who never even visited our table until after the bill was paid.

The Katharine Brasserie & Bar is an elegant and modern dining spot that offers a unique blend of Southern and French cuisine. Located in the historic RJ Reynolds Building, it pays homage to the Reynolds family's matriarch, Katharine. The menu features a variety of traditional Parisian brasserie dishes with a touch of upscale American Southern flavors. From mussels and beef tartare to North Carolina trout and seared duck breast, there's something for every palate.
I ate there for lunch. Most of the menu is pretty pretty mainstream, but I have a more adventurous palate. So I ordered amazing chickpea fritters and the best roasted carrots that made me wonder what else the chef can do. The atmosphere presents like a high-end French bistro with lots of charm. There's plenty of fun cocktails to highlight your meal.

I had dinner at the Katharine Saturday night and had an amazing experience! Our server for the evening was Gene, he provided excellent service and recommendations. There were also a lot of help at hand to keep our waters refilled and take our empty plates. The food was outstanding and we had the perfect wine to pair with our entrees. We had three boeuf bourguignon, and the duck breast, both were so delicious and didn't even require a knife. The valet service was very helpful and fast. Thanks for a wonderful Saturday night!

We had lunch here on Christmas Day at 1:45 and our waitress was great however our food was burnt. The toast was over done and the strata was completely black on the bottom and the top was also blackened. We also had oysters and deviled eggs which were actually very good. Service was great but was not that impressed with our main dishes being burnt, especially for our Christmas Day lunch. This was our third time coming

I rented out one of the igloos that's located on the side of the hotel. Was a great experience! I do recommend bringing 4 people (great double date idea) as the space is large enough to accommodate, and the food quantity was enough. There are board games and plenty of comfort items (pillows, blankets, etc.) to go around. I do recommend still dressing warm during the colder months as the insulation isn't the best, understandably. They do have both a space heater and a faux fireplace that helped immensely. The food (charcuterie board) was a great and we also had a salmon appetizer that filled us up. So, again, if you want to sample an entreé without feeling like you're going to explode, I'd recommend bringing more people. Either way it was a great experience to have for a special day ❤️.
Tris P — Google review
Welcoming establishment, attentive service, subdued (low key?) and positive ambiance. They let the service and food speak for themselves. And both were excellent. Our reservations were for a Sunday evening. We were seated immediately. I particularly enjoyed several of the house drinks - they were very well done. Several of the tables around us lingered. People did not seem to be rushed out after dining. One table had a baby with them, another had two "tweens," yet another was full of retirees. Families of all ages were enjoying themselves that evening. The food did not lean too heavily on salt like some fancy spots do. Everything came together very nicely, flavors complimenting one another without letting any single thing make an unbalanced dish. We left more than satisfied and hope we have the opportunity to return!

A Delightful Evening at Katherine Brasserie & Bar Nestled in an inviting atmosphere, Katherine Brasserie & Bar provided a wonderful dining experience from start to finish. With a well-curated drink menu, I opted for the Obscurity, a cocktail reminiscent of tonic grapefruit water with a subtle yet satisfying kick from smoked jalapeño. It was a bold yet balanced choice that I’d definitely order again. My friend chose the Omen: Cabernet, a rich and smooth selection that paired beautifully with the evening. Skipping appetizers turned out to be a great decision, as we were treated to a fresh, warm bread loaf accompanied by heavenly whipped butter—simple but undeniably delicious. For my entrée, I selected the Saumon et Gruau de Mais: a perfectly seared salmon nestled on creamy stone-ground grits, bathed in a smoked garlic buttermilk sauce with black lemon, chervil, and chili oil. The sauce was the standout component, bringing a rich, smoky depth to the dish, while the grits had a wonderful consistency—creamy yet textured. I can see why they suggest pairing it with a Schlumberger Pinot Blanc; the bright acidity would complement the richness of the dish beautifully. My friend chose the Steak au Poivre, a pepper-crusted 12 oz N.Y. strip steak served with truffle pomme purée and crispy Brussels sprouts. The steak was well-executed, though I found the pepper crust to be on the intense side, whereas my friend thought it was just right. The Brussels sprouts were crispy and flavorful, a perfect side to the indulgent dish. We visited on a quiet Wednesday night, and the staff was attentive, friendly, and prompt without being intrusive. The overall experience was smooth, relaxing, and left us eager to return. With so many intriguing options on the menu, I’ll definitely be back to explore more. If you’re looking for a spot that delivers on both drinks and food, Katherine Brasserie & Bar is worth a visit.

Update 2/12/2022: Went for the same show, 2GNC Comedy All-stars Show. The venue hasn't changed at all. The people that helped you to your seat was super nice and very helpful. We brought my handicapped son this time. They showed us where the elevators were, and helped us find somewhere to sit since my son is in a wheelchair. Great place! Update 2/15/20: I revisited this venue last night for the 2GNC Comedy Allstars Show (same show from the last visit a year ago). This year the wine and domestic beers were $5 and imports were $6 and that came with a UNCSA cup. You did have to buy a ticket and then get in another line to actually get your alcohol, but the wait wasn't that bad. The show was great! Seats are a little compact, but not terrible. I am sure I will be back again. Old Post from 2019: It is a really nice place. The only issue I had was they make you buy a $2 School of the Arts cup to drink a bottled soda in the balcony! I thought that was a little weird and unnecessary.

August 2, 2022 supporting the National Black Theatre Festival we attended "The Eve of Jackie" at the venue was te University of North Carolina School of Arts Steven's Center which all attendees were allocated to the orchestra level. The single ladies room on the first level was clean and stocked. The building has elevators as well as steps. The steps are accessed via a centered couple steps and from there ascending to the upper levels are steps off to the left and right. The venue was not in charge of ticket sales/collections for this show.

This classic theatre has hosted generations of performers. I always have a great experience at the theatre whether I enjoy the performance or not. As with all theaters its age, more bathrooms would be appreciated and the elevators don't have enough capacity. I look forward to seeing it when renovations that are currently underway are completed.

Excellent sound quality. Comfort is a zero. Smallest seats of any auditorium. Not everyone is 5' 5" and weighs 120 lbs. When you want to sit in the middle of a row, EVERYBODY has to get out of their seat just to let people get to an empty seat. I'm not sure how claustrophobic folks could handle it. But, Nothing can be changed. It is what it is.

There are 2 parking lots 1 is the main parking lot off of Salem Lake road and the other is off of Linville road and both have restrooms and the main parking lot has playgrounds for the kids. It is dog friendly so bring the fur babies with you on your next adventure!

The events are awesome; I especially loved the ‘revival cinema.’ Devil in a Blue Dress became one of my favorite films, and the added history before the film started really helped contextualize it. Film studies has always been one of my hobbies and I’ve never really come in contact with a theater that prioritized film education and making movies accessible, so thank you aperture!!!

Great movie selection, but the screen placement in studio 2 was very odd, practically on the ceiling. I imagine this is because of the non-stadium seating, if so it would be nice if they could atleast tilt the screen downward so the picture isn’t distorted. Overall a nice experience but weird setup!
Cody W — Google review
Excellent popcorn, fantastic beer choices, but even more than the concessions, a great venue for watching movies. I love that they include multiple indie, foreign, and throwback films. The staff is friendly and accommodating. I've already seen Nosferatu, A Complete Unknown, and Mickey 17 there, and will be going back again soon.

Favorite cinema in WS/NC! Some of the staff can be a bit pretentious, but like, 7/8ths of the crew are amazingly kind and engaging. Love it there!
Corinne J — Google review
This is a great, intimate movie experience! They have a great mix of independent films and new movies. The theaters are pretty small, which means less people, and that’s good for a movie! They have a good amount of beer options, popcorn, and a couple other snacks to eat. The decor is very cute and this place is the ideal date night! Currently they do not have any mask or vaccine mandates.
Katelyn B — Google review
Really cool low key theater, with good popcorn, nice staff, with a more personal atmosphere. It feels like you are watching a movie at your home theater with friends.
Jason “ — Google review
It's a small cinema, with four screens, the one I saw much smaller than a traditional one. It creates a much more intimate feeling, like you are in some rich persons basement screening a movie. We were also introduced to the film by an employee, so it can be really hands on. Concessions are artsy as well, you can get gourmet popcorn made in NC, etc. And the movies are going to be more artsy as well, so if that's your thing you should definetely visit. It's a beautiful building.
Gabriel Y — Google review
My husband is a large man and often is uncomfortable sitting in chairs with arms. When we went to aperture for the first time, we asked if they might have an armless chair he could sit in, and they were able to accommodate our request! That made a positive impression on us, and was a big incentive for us to come back! The staff is friendly, and we like the small intimate theater space, not to mention the opportunity to see independent films when they first come out.

Historical place museum
Old Salem Museum & Gardens is a unique gem nestled in Winston-Salem, offering an immersive glimpse into Moravian life from the 18th century. This living museum features skilled artisans demonstrating traditional crafts such as woodworking, pottery, and gunsmithing within its historic buildings. Visitors can explore three main areas: the Historic Town of Salem, the Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts (MESDA), and beautifully maintained gardens.
Really enjoyed seeing the buildings and interacting with the staff in them. They were very knowledgeable about the village and it's history.

I have lived here over 20 years and I’m not sure why I slept on this place so long! I am a huge Colonial Williamsburg fan and this SO MUCH BETTER! The interpreters are on point and the ability to interact with the exhibits is so well done (as a past 1st grade teacher). We do love the ability to enjoy beverages mid walk and the cakes and cookies remind me of my childhood. 10:10. 🙌

Old Salem is an amazing little place, it's not what many areas like this are where you have to pay for everything, it's super well maintained and you can quite literally feel the history here. Whether you are here to walk, take pictures, or just to go back in time this is a not-so-hidden gem of our city that makes you realize just how great our little area is!
Casey S — Google review
Lovely living history museum to walk around. Walkways uneven in spots for those with mobility issues. Street parking throughout the area. Be mindful as some of it is timed 2 hours or less. Cafe and restrooms on site.

My family has been coming to Salem for years. We have experienced the village and museums when it is closed and open. Both are delightful, pleasant ways to visit. The Moravian Village is a favorite. We go every time we visit Winston-Salem. Allow 4-6 hours to experience the Village when venues are open. Ticket purchase is required to enter several historical buildings. Parking is available at the Visitors Center. Students including college (with ID) get discount.

We absolutely loved our short stay at the Old Salem Museum and Gardens. The town is full of historical buildings (1700’s and 1800’s) and beautiful gardens. The museum staff is very nice. They told us to park the RV in the back parking lot, which is spacious and quiet. There’s a farmer’s market with a bunch of fresh produce and crafts on Sundays. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay! Thank you all! Cesar, Dina and Umma the dog #BeeHippy_Lifestyle #HarvestHost

Beautiful historic town. Small enough you can see most of it in a day, but interesting enough to spend 2 days. It's a great place to disconnect from our electronic lives

Yes Christmas is a magical time to visit Old Salem. However the highlight and also let down of our visits there for 2019 was Halloween Nightwatchman Tours. We went Oct 30 And they stick to no refunds and doing tours in the rain however definition of light drizzle as stated in web site and what was happening is different for us all so plan accordingly. It was pouring rain on our tour to us it made it a little more old world and realistic I give 3 stars because I love old Salem however we called several times to get updates for the tour due to terrible weather to only have confusing answers or very non-pleasant employees talking to us. The final answer was a stern woman who was a manager talking down to us “just look on Facebook” and hung up the phone. newsflash not everyone has Facebook. I highly recommend O.S. Has Clearer terms on web site and a better way of communication to customers spending the high dollars for the tickets (The tour guide did try her best considering it was raining so hard but seemed a little disheveled telling the stories and had to constantly read her note book instead of the tour the night before when it was not pouring down rain and that Guide knew it as if it was a play) We are going to try again in 2020 because there is a lot of potential.

Winkler Bakery, a historic establishment over 200 years old, boasts the original wood-fired dome oven that has been used to bake bread, cakes, and confections since its construction in 1800. Visitors are greeted by bakers dressed in period costumes who offer samples of Moravian Sugar Cake and rosemary bread. While today's cookies are made offsite due to volume, all their goods are available for purchase at the bakery.
It's been a while since visiting Old Salem and Winkler Bakery. It was a beautiful day to walk around Old Salem and visit some of the businesses. Winkler Bakery has a nice selection of merchandise! The staff were friendly and helpful! Looking forward to coming back. If you are visiting Winston-Salem, stop by Old Salem and tour the museum and historic homes (you will need to purchase a ticket) as well as Winkler Bakery and a couple other businesses.

Stepping into Winkler Bakery felt like visiting a piece of living history. The aroma of wood-fired Moravian sugar cake and paper-thin spice cookies is irresistible. I loved watching bakers in period dress fire up the 200‑year‑old brick oven and chatting with the staff over warm treats—truly magical and unforgettable!

This is a beautiful places inside but I would not come here for the baked goods. The history is amazing tho. Upstairs is like a museum. The bread is not even cooked here anymore. The sugar cake is on the dry side The cherry strudel was actually pretty good.

I had such a pleasant experience for my first time as an adult here. We were immediately greeted, told about the history of the house and its original functionality and how it was evolved over time. The woman who greeted us gave us direction of how to walk through the two floors and where the baked goods, kitchen, and gift shop were located without me having to ask any questions. Additionally, she gave me one of the sweetest, most unique compliments I’ve ever received. I was so touched by her words that I forgot to ask her name but thank you so much- your words meant more to me than you know. :)

My son and I went to Winston-Salem, North Carolina where one of the Winkler's related to me from Switzerland settled there and his church sponsored him with Winkler's Bakery where his family operated for hundreds of years. Even today, the same beehive oven is used to bake with the same recipes that Cristian Winkler brought from Switzerland in Europe. We bought bread, cookies and cakes that were baked in this oven. We looked over the houses that the Mennonites owned in the town. They had a tavern, shoemaker and other shops in the old Mennonite style. Sister Deborah who was very informative about the Winkler family there. I had an excellant experience, it was like a step into history. Thank you very much!!
Patrick — Google review
Really not what I expected. I was thinking it would be a sit down type bakery for some coffee and breakfast. Cool place to stop in for the history but I left empty handed and went to a different coffee shop
Scott S — Google review
The bakery and all of Old Salem is well worth a visit. There are two options for tickets. $20 gets you in to two buildings and $30 gets you in to all 11 buildings. I didn’t think I would find it that informative since I’ve been to other pioneer-like villages, but I was very impressed as the Moravian culture is different, and I learned a lot. If you don’t have time/money, you can also just walk around the town and not enter any of the buildings that have interpreters. We were there in March and it was very quiet and easy to park. The bakery is known for its sugar cookies and traditional sugar cake. Yummy!

Truist Stadium in Winston Salem is a must-visit for baseball enthusiasts. As the home field of the Atlanta Braves, this modern stadium with a capacity of over 40,000 offers a perfect blend of southern hospitality and state-of-the-art amenities. Visitors praise the helpful staff, spacious seating with good views, and clean facilities. While food and parking can be pricey, the nearby Battery area provides plenty of dining options and big screens to catch the game.
I came over to Winston-Salem to see my hometown Greensboro Grasshoppers play. I was very impressed with the entire experience at Truist Stadium! Staff are friendly and helpful. The facility is also modern and clean. They have excellent food and beverage choices. I enjoyed walking around checking out the various craft beer options. The areas for fans to hang out and watch the game around the stadium are top notch. I got a “Dash City Lager” from Foothills Brewpub and enjoyed it on their perch in the outfield.

Really nice stadium. Paid for parking in advance and worth every dime. Seats were in right field (home run seats) and were very close to the parking lot. Rides for kids. Great food with lots of options. The sun was rough in the afternoon so I would advise sunglasses and a ball cap or visor for these seats. Overall great experience. Beautiful ball park.
Julie S — Google review
Went to my first Dash game. I got to the park early and had no idea where to park. (Handicapped spot) I ask an attendant at another lot, who pointed to the right lot and told me who to see. The people at the main lot were very helpful, including the worker that advised me to back into my spot so I would not get blocked in I left. I didn't do my research beforehand. You pay for parking either by an app or at a kiosk. No cash accepted. Same for concessions no cash. The ball park is beautiful! The seats are comfortable and spaced so you don't feel like you are crowding the person sitting beside you. I went on a Tuesday night so it was not crowded. I never waited in line for anything. If I'm in town again I will definitely try to take in another game.

Great time at the Dash Baseball game. Place is very clean and the bathrooms were clean as well. Food options were plentiful. Prices aren’t too bad for food , they seem more for alcohol which is typical for ball fields. Seating around the field is pretty good. We were in 205 row 1 👌 (see pics)

I've been coming here regularly for almost 4 years and even though this place has changed a good bit since then, I still have a good time. Living close by helps and you could easily lose a couple hours in here with the amount of things to do. And the best part is that's not too big and overwhelming. Very walkable, very clean, and rarely a problem to be had.

This is a very nice mall, with a lot of good stores with different kinds of things. From African brands & video games, to scented candles to a good food court & retail stores. I love going there to shop or just to get a good plate of Japaneese or Thai food. There's also a Dave & Busters, so it's a big attraction for me and the kids! The food at Dave & Busters is good, but kinda expensive.

I had a wonderful time here today. Everyone is so welcoming and kind, and the art is always beautiful. i loved my visit here! there were only a few other visitors when i came on sunday afternoon. the man at the front desk was very pleasant and informative and i liked the layout and general atmosphere of the building. the current exhibits were interesting and well-presented in the space. it took me about half an hour to go through the galleries and look in the adjoining house. if i had known it was such a pleasant place simply to go and hang out i would have brought my laptop to get some work done, and it would have been nice to go out on the beautiful grounds with my watercolors and paint. i would definitely visit again.

Don’t get me wrong the place is cool, but the employees suck, they have terrible attitudes and make you feel uncomfortable, I was reading one of the descriptions and an employee told me to move out of the way because I was “Too close” ? The bakery prides itself on using high-quality ingredients to create visually stunning and flavorful treats from scratch.
The artistry of these desserts is unmatched. Everyone was helpful and patient. We got there around 9:45 on Thursday and they had plenty of goodies! I opted for savory and then sweet items to go. My friend and I both got the Brown Sugar Maple Latte, very good but was not sweet like the name led us to believe. The Everything Puff Pastry filled with goat cheese was phenomenal! My friend got the Morning Bun and said the cinnamon and orange were great flavors. Her to go box included the Lemon Berry and mine was the Ginger Cookies and a Chocolate Raspberry that was beautiful and tasty. I’m looking forward to trying the new location on Poplar St downtown. Piedmont Craftsmen Gallery offers a diverse range of artists, showcasing their exceptional talent and dedication. The gallery is known for its quality and attention to detail in the craftsmanship of each piece. However, there are two areas that could be improved upon. Firstly, there is a need for more unique handmade goods that offer an unconventional variety, rather than traditional or mundane pieces. Additionally, affordable small wares would be beneficial to attract casual shoppers and encourage return visits.

Neat variety of artists represented at Piedmont! The quality, dedication, and craftsmanship is all here. Two things are missing: 1) More unique handmade goods of an odd variety, not the traditional, (seen something like it before), or the mundane. 2) And affordable small wares, so that even the casual shopper or passerby may leave with a small token and come back. Our sever, was prompt and courteous during the dinning experience. My drink was too strong and his response to my request of sweetening it was handle with a high level of attention to details. For those wondering how did he make it better, the old fashion ordered needed some simple syrup to tame the bitters.

It's such a lovely place to hang out on a weekend day . Shops, dining, and casual eats, including a teahouse . The nature and walks are amazing. Some stores are over 100 years old . Quite pricey though...

Thruway Shopping Center is a beloved destination with a variety of stores, including favorites like Trader Joe's and Dewey's. Visitors praise the friendly and helpful staff at Trader Joe's, where one customer even received a surprise bouquet of flowers. Dewey's is known for its delectable treats such as Moravian Cookies, Chess Pie, Pink Lemonade cake square, and Moravian Sugar Cake.
This was my first time ever visiting this shopping center and I was very impressed by how gorgeous it was inside and out. I didn’t have time to shop or look around a whole lot because I was just there to meet with my lawyer and sign papers but I definitely want to come back and do a little shopping in boutique and try out the coffee shop when I have more time. It was easy to find, had plenty of parking space right out front and the environment was just so nice and peaceful. I just think when you’re shopping or doing business in an area that is beautifully built and well maintained makes the whole experience feel so much more enjoyable. The people I spoke to in the elevator were just as nice and I wish there would more buildings like this closer to home!

Maintenance crew blocked parking lane for 30 minutes in front of mobile phone store. They had a bucket truck, not in use, blocking one direction and a work van pulled across the other lane unoccupied. No cones, no signs, just blocking the parking lanes. One driver came out of a store with a drink. Hmm. Pretty selfish and entitled behavior, don't ya think?

Great shopping center near downtown Winston Salem. I love the variety of shops like Kilwins, Trader Joes, Outdoor Provision, Chick-fil-A, Moe's, Dewey's, and more. This shopping area is well lit and safe at all times of day and they also have ♿ handicap accessible ramps, parking spots, and restrooms throughout.

Just in the shopping center. Horrible to drive in. I've almost been hit twice while in there and I've only been there 2 times. Visual instructions everywhere. Seemed clean and will kept though.

I visited Dewey's in the Thruway Shopping Center, it's a must. Those Moravian Cookies, the Chess Pie, Pink Lemonade cake square and the Moravian Sugar Cake are amazing and pretty much what I purchase. I wish you could get the mini pies shipped but alas you have to go into the store for that. This place has so much to offer besides sweet treats, they have everything NC. Definitely worth a stop, you will not be disappointed.

Parking is horrible and narrow spaces and T-Mobile has decided to post No Fire Arms only problem is they did no follow the law to post it and put it down in the lower right window. Not in a conspicuous place being there us a sign outside the door that blocks that area out of even a child's view! The law plainly states that it be posted in a conspicuous place at eye level not down at the side walk! You can see in the picture the edge of the sign I had to move to the the picture!

Adventure Landing Winston-Salem is a family-friendly amusement park and aquatic complex that offers a wide range of activities for all ages. From mini-golf and go-karts to laser tag, bumper boats, and an extensive arcade with over 30 interactive games, there's something for everyone to enjoy. The park also features Adventure Golf with three 18-hole miniature golf courses. Visitors can take advantage of affordable day passes and seasonal passes to make the most of their experience.
My sister her boyfriend and my nephews came to my house and told me to get ready—we were going putt-putting and heading to the arcade! I'm so glad I went, because we made so many fun and meaningful memories together. This location has quickly become a family favorite. Every time my nephews get to visit, I know this will be one of our go-to spots. The atmosphere is welcoming, the staff are kind, and the overall experience is exactly what you want when spending quality time with loved ones. The pricing is very reasonable for both the mini golf and the arcade. We had a blast playing through all three putt-putt courses outside, then headed indoors to enjoy the wide variety of arcade games. Collecting tickets and picking out little prizes added that extra bit of fun for everyone—kids and adults alike. We’ll definitely be back. It’s the perfect spot to create lasting memories with family. Tools ChatGPT can make mistakes

We really enjoyed the arcade and miniature golf. They have 3 different courses to choose from

Putt putt courses are okay though ran down and old, we still had a good time out here eith no wait and nobody in front of us. Game room on the other hand is atrocious. Don't waste your money. Half of the machines are broken, half eat tokens, and hardly any cash out tickets like they are supposed to. Was okay for a one time visit but wont come back
Steven P — Google review
Historically speaking this used to be a classic Putt Putt Golf and Games, so layout was designed for safari themed three course miniature golf and a video arcade in the 80s. Now the arcade has switched to a few driving video game machines but mostly the kind of ticket producing games of chance that kids gather to cash in on prizes like a Chinese finger puzzle, a yo-yo, some candy and the like. Some of the parking lot was converted into a bumper boat arena with about six boats and squirt guns on the front. They offer a good one price deal for 18 holes of mini golf, bumper boats, and 20 arcade tokens for a little more than a movie ticket. This is enough to keep several kids attention for several hours at $15 each.

Moved from Oregon and wanted to check out the local attractions. Took them here. What a waste of money honestly. Walked in and one staff was on his personal phone sitting in a chair. Played a whole round of putt putt and the same employee was still sitting there on his phone. The bathrooms are disgusting. The water part of the course was full of algea, golf balls and putters (some were rusted in half from being in the water so long). Would be nice to see the employee that was sitting on the phone clean the bathroom or get the balls/putters out of the water that have been sitting there for atleast a year. The course was boring. Half the games didn't work because they were out of service which you can tell by the faded sign, it's been a while. Didn't even use the water bumper cars. Would not return or recommend unless they did a complete remodel. Also to note, this was on a weekend and the parking lot was empty.
Josh J — Google review
the putt-putt and bumper boats were fun. I ended up getting soaked but had a good time! When it comes to the arcade, very bad. The games just take your tokens without game play. One gatorade was also 3.50. Overall an okay experience, good deal with the unlimited game play but you don’t want to do putt-putt or the bumper boats more then once.
Hannah G — Google review
I certainly had a fun time here on the three golf courses! There were some areas where the fake grass looked a little bit wrinkled and old, but I don't think that messed up my ball at all! One thing I might suggest is that they maybe should implement a way for water to drain through the holes better, as I was there after a rainstorm, and some of the holes were quite flooded with water when I reached down to get my ball Additionally, this place has an arcade and bumper boats.

I have such nostalgia for this place. My dad took me here all throughout the 90s, but it really is still so much fun, too. All the courses are fun and challenging but still fun for kids. The game room had a lot out of order when we went but my neice still managed to get enough tickets for a prize. We had lots of fun.

Brewery
Wise Man Brewing in Winston-Salem offers a laid-back and family-friendly taproom with an ever-changing lineup of craft beers. The brewery hosts various events such as run clubs, live music, open mic nights, and trivia. The name 'Wise Man' was inspired by a Plato quote proudly displayed on the building. Beers are named after quotes from wise men, adding a unique touch to the experience.
I went on a Tuesday night and this place was hoppin'! A lively spot with very tasty beers. It's also in a cool building and in a good location. If you're in Winston-Salem, drop in and have a pint (or a few).

We spent the day in Winston-Salem exploring. Stumbled upon this brewing company by chance. There was a live band and the most adorable Thomas school bus on the property run by a family that sells vintage fashion. So cute! We hung out for a little bit. My husband had a drink & we really enjoyed our time here. There were food trucks including pizza & some Caribbean food. Awesome atmosphere. Enjoy! Josephine Local Guide

This location in Winston-Salem was hosting an October Festival which included live music, activities for adults and children. I wanted to attend an activity in the neighborhood. There was a mix of people sitting together enjoying the blue/grass band that was playing. If you got hungry, the food truck were available at a reasonable price. I really enjoyed myself.

Since it opened, Wise Man Brewing has been spot on with craft beers - great variety for most all tastes, also serving slushies, wines & limited liquor selection. Whether you’re looking for a hang out, music, meet up fun & games - something is going on each month if not every week at The Wise Man. There is seating in the sun - parking lot side, or shade behind the bar. One or more food trucks are scheduled there to quench your desire for solid tasty food. Sam the brewer is a Chemist by trade & masterful brewmaster. ADA compliant - wheelchair accessible.

When you think of liberty St generally there isn't much good to say but this place is it! This place was Great!! We had putt putt to ourselves very unique course and challenging! We ate the food was expensive for what it was but flavor wise was great 👍. We played in the arcade next nice games geared towards young adults/ teens at a fair price. They even had trivia in the other room. A great spot to chill! Will be back soon!

We attended the Edgar Allen Poe Speak Easy. The food downstairs in the venue itself was terrible and the server was rude. However the performers and the drinks served by the artists were amazing. The atmosphere was lovely and we had an amazing night overall. Beautiful. We look forward to part one! The venue itself was very fun looking but we weren’t there for the venue more so for the event.

Came for the first time for the ROAR rooftop view to see the fireworks. One website and the official website never said the seating are reserved only, my mother with disability was disappointed. Plus it has free admission but have to pay $5 to stand up ?? Workers: The service was welcoming and friendly. Rooftop bar for one small drink for $13 is questionable. Overall, good services. The Live Music: The band was RagtopBetty, they were pretty good, wish I got alittle closer to film them but when you’re short, there’s disadvantages for a rooftop band. Atmosphere: Fancy and would be good for spaces but the service keeps inviting more and more people to the rooftop to where everyone was crowded and bumping into each other. The people: The people that were also wanting to see the fireworks- I hated it. It was very diverse (Whites, Blacks, Hispanics, etc friendly) but as an African American woman, I felt unwelcome. It’s 2025, but there’s still racism ? The people & service: If one person or two people reserve a seating area (4-6 seats or lounge couches), for an hour or two has went by and you know you don’t have a party coming, could of at least offer a seat to those who’s been standing there !? Or service should have gave them an only one seat or two seating area instead of taking a whole couch !! For standing around for an hour, at least I brought my own sparklers 🥹

A great evening of talented, amateur performers who make and serve a mean couple o’ cocktails- fabulous and fun all around! I do not believe they served any food at the event but the beverages were *chef’s kiss*!!

The atmosphere is excellent, but we rented a room to do virtual golf for an hour and a half. It took over a 1/2 hour to get set up because the equipment was malfunctioning. We had to find all of our own equipment. The balls were all behind the broken screen. The online food menu does not reflect what was actually available, which was appetizers only. There was absolutely no staff available to even ask questions or check in people. We had fun once we got going, but that had nothing to do with service or lack thereof.
Ameriah S — Google review
I'd recommend this place ONLY for the games. The food wasn't all that! I do not place tips on screens, especially before I get my food. I guess the cook wasn't pleased as it definitely showed on my cheeseburger. The people stationed where you place your food order weren't cool at all. In fact, the female worker was only nice to the females in my party, which I found strange because I was a paying customer too. I think I know what she was all about. The only staff member that was cordial was the bartender.
George M — Google review
This is a fun place to hang out with a group or family but it does need some improvement. The bowling is super fun; it's short lanes with small balls and very casual. We didn't have any trouble with that but the sports simulator bays were not calibrated well and the bay we got for our teenagers was so problematic, they ended up giving up on it. They are definitely understaffed but once we found an attendant, he refunded our money for that bay. The staff is very warm and professional. The teens also enjoyed the arcades.
Melissa C — Google review
First of all the concept is good for it to be a mall of entertainment. The putt putt, arcade, lan gaming, food and atmosphere is overall good for one stop fun. This is where it goes south, everything costs way too much to begin with and you will stress more about the cost versus how much fun. Only 7 holes of mini golf is 10 dollars per person. They have two courses you pay for separately so 14 holes cost 20 per person total. Times that by 4 people in our party 80 bucks for around 40 mins or so plus tip. It was fun except some of the holes miscalculated the points even when done right in the 5000 point blue hole and only got 2500?. Second The arcade is credits and costs a minimum of 5 dollars for 20 credits, although this is Saturday peak time. There may be deals on non peak days for credits. The pizza in the food court has a rating of 93 as you can see in one of my pictures. We spent 100 dollars plus parking fee for about 1 hour of fun. It's great if you have the money to spend, we like ours too much to pay this again. Nothing really bad or awful just was too expensive and I was afraid to try the pizza because of the food rating.

The Winston-Salem Dash, a High-A class minor league baseball team affiliated with the Chicago White Sox, has been an integral part of Winston-Salem's sports scene since 1905. Formerly known as the Twins and the Warthogs, the team holds a special place in the hearts of locals. Foothills Brewing's Downtown Taproom is a popular spot to visit before catching a game, with shuttles running to the ballpark on select days.
Great non-stressful baseball experience for everyone including family, friends, teens, seniors, handicap. I thought it really worked good for groups from work, churches, boy/Girl Scouts, organizations, etc. It seemed like a great place for people to meet, relax, enjoy some baseball and socialize. Great for baseball fans and you don’t have to be into baseball to enjoy getting together with friends and family here. Lots of typical fun baseball food, … hot dogs, ice cream, icees, popcorn, beer and lots more. I went on a Friday night , not too crowded, not too many kids but a good number who seemed to be enjoying themselves. They have a no cursing rule, which is good. Customer service was excellent. Very nice stadium with comfortable seating.
Alan J — Google review
Watched a Dash baseball game on a Friday night. It was not really crowded and there were plenty of open seats. The WS Dash employee that was entertaining the crowd the whole night was very enthusiastic - he seems to really enjoy his job. It was so cute watching all of the kids run the bases at the end of the game. The fireworks were fantastic! Concessions are expensive and cashless only but they do have ApplePay. Thankfully the food was good but still $$$. The parking is confusing but it helps to look at the parking map that is on the WS Dash website. They have a clear bag policy. We did not know that until we got up to the front gate. We could’ve paid $8 for a storage locker that is right outside of the gates but you have to download an app to use the locker and it wasn’t working. So we had to walk back to the car to put away the bag so we could enter. It would be helpful to note the clear bag policy on the tickets themselves or in the order confirmation email somewhere or something for attendees to be informed. If you need to leave the stadium they will stamp your hand so you can get back in. Some of the WS Dash staff were pleasant and others clearly would’ve rather been somewhere else. Overall good experience!

Not as much fun as the grasshopper games in Greensboro but not bad... Food and drink are ridiculous of course.... Bathrooms could be cleaner... Entertainment was just OK. The team really didn't seem to be "into" playing... I'd probably go back but wouldn't be a die hard fan.

My husband and I went to the game tonight and we had a great time! The employees were all very friendly and kind and Parker from ticket sales was very helpful! We tried some food items and they were pretty good. They had fun in game promotions and we loved the t-shirt cannon. The fireworks show was one of the best we’ve seen out of all the minor league ballparks we’ve been to! The only thing they could improve on is their merchandise. They have a lot of merchandise for their alternate identity teams but not as many options for Dash items. We’d love to see more of a variety. Overall it was a fun night!
Rachel B — Google review
This was my first time visiting this location and watching a game. There are both positive and negative feedback to give. My first negative statement regards the parking. There was not a lot of signs indicating where to park. There needs to be more people guiding parking. I wasn't driving which was a good thing because I would have been aggravated trying to park. The parking was a good ways out from the ballpark. Me and my friends asked about the entrance to the ballpark and some employee stated that we could go down the hill which we would probably fall or walk around. Hmm? Next, upon entering, I received a very heartfelt welcome from the staff and I guess security at the gate. I was told to enjoy the game. Great job from those individuals! The staff appear to work well together and no visible problems which is a big plus! Continuing on to the concession stands. Our section was 105 if I can recall correctly, but really close to the players. Me and my friends decided to get our food before sitting down. I would like to recognize Kristen (I believe that was her name) and the staff in the concession stand behind section 105. Kristen was very pleasant and polite. She exemplifies customer service! She was patient with me as I did not know what I wanted to try. She recommended items to me. She and that team worked well, quickly, and efficient together. My only negative comments for the concession stands is that there are no combo specials or deals. Everything is priced separately and is extremely high! I know that everything has gone up in the world today, but a hot dog should not be $5! My other comment is that only credit/debit cards are accepted. Everybody does not carry a credit/debit card. Perhaps this is to prevent theft in the organization, but it's a policy that needs to be reconsidered because it's an inconvenience for some customers. Also, there seemed to be a tip amount. I did not see a place for "No tip." However, Kristen and the entire concession stand was phenomenal and I wish that I could have tipped her more. The food was fresh and delicious! Upon exiting, I saw someone rolling a container with canned sodas. I asked him how much the canned sodas were and he kept on walking. This is not a customer service trait! Those are really my main comments that I wanted to state. I will most definitely return due to the customer service from the staff at the gate and primarily because of Kristen and her genuine hospitality! Lastly, the Dashers won which made our night more fun. The songs played need to be played longer. The inappropriate things on the camera in between innings such as "Most worst dressed" playing or not playing and putting that person up on the screen could cause emotional trauma for that person if they had been bullied earlier in life. One last comment I promise...the freebies like the bloomin' onion coupon is only for Winston-Salem locations. I wish they were recognized in different cities as I do not reside in Winston. Thank you for letting me post my sincere thoughts.

Father's Day at this very nice ballpark with my Dad, and my son, and his father ;) made for a great Sunday. Thanks, Dash. (PS I've been to a number of minor league parks across the South and Truist's concession food is actually quite good and worth the Event Pricing).

Game was rained out after 5 innings. They literally played 5 so they didn't have to issue tickets for a later game. Lightning started in the 3rd. Absolutely ridiculous how ticket policies screw the fan. They consider 5 innings a complete game in a weather event. Very sad you pay money and get way less because of their greed.

This is a really cool bar in downtown Winston. They have a lot of great beers on tap with great crafts from local brewerys. They have a lot of TVs and are good about playing the game you want to see. That also have board games in the tables for people to play while they drink, which is a really neat concept.

Great addition to the Camel City scene. Beer is very good, but even better is the atmosphere - table games, open layout, lots of natural light, attentive service. Topher was an excellent guide. Very knowledgeable and experienced. He also very clearly took into consideration the size and age range of the group, making sure to share things appropriate for all involved. My only complaint is that it wasn't long enough. Oh, and I do kinda wish it had been a smaller group so I could have asked questions. Highly recommend if you are in to history at all but especially if you appreciate some of the darker side of it.

This was my first ever ghost tour, and I had an amazing experience! Topher is so well-spoken, and very knowledgeable about the history of the area and the stories he tells. My two friends and I had such a great time, and we even stayed a few minutes afterwards to pick Topher’s brain a bit more about hauntings. His energy and enthusiasm for the history and paranormal was infectious! I would 100% recommend this tour for anyone looking for something fun to do in Winston Salem. Thank you Topher!!

Shell Oil Clamshell, located on East Sprague and Peachtree Streets in Winston-Salem, is a popular tourist spot. The 1930s structure attracts many visitors who come to take photos as souvenirs. The city intentionally preserved this landmark as an added attraction. While some may wish for improvements in the area, others appreciate the nostalgic appeal of the gas station and enjoy collecting rewards points from their purchases there.

Went in today to get two vitamin waters and realized it tasted a little weird. Turns out it’s 3 months expired and the other one was 2 months expired. Tried to call and let them know, but nobody answers the phone. It’s gross to have multiple products out of date on the shelf.

Unless your tank is on E, skip this place. The store has a moldy smell to it, rundown, and it can get sketchy after sunset. The “owner” used to be friendly at one point. Not so much now. Bad, unfriendly vibes. It’s a shame. Can see why Quality Mart is so popular.

I walk here often from my apartment. Today my husband was broken down on his motorcycle on the side of the road. It's extremely 🔥 Hot today. Well I had to walk from home to the store there and bring him a water and cigarettes near Truist ballfield stadium. This man working daytime in the store ran his mouth to us, was rude, and I don't think we will do business there anymore. He was rude to the next customer in line as well. Three customers in a row he's gonna lose now. Horrible attitude and customer service!!

Nestled in the heart of Winston-Salem, the Sawtooth School for Visual Art is a vibrant non-profit institution dedicated to fostering creativity within the community. Established in 1945, this art school offers an array of classes and workshops across eleven different visual arts and crafts disciplines, making it an ideal destination for anyone eager to explore their artistic side. From ceramics and painting to digital arts and textiles, there's something for everyone—whether you're a seasoned artist or just starting out.
Someone told me about this location as I expressed a desire to learn how to use my digital camera more effectively. I signed up for the Digital Photography 101 class. The cost is $160 but they do have scholarships available. I was blessed to be awarded one and only had to pay about $60 for the class! This particular class is every Tuesday night for the month of September. There are LOTS of creative classes available in numerous mediums. I’ll post a few screenshots to give an idea! They also have classes for youth! There is a parking lot directly across from the building. Just be mindful not to park in any reserved spots. There is also some street parking nearby. The location is visually appealing which I appreciated. The staff members I encountered were very pleasant and helpful as I found my way to the photography studio. The instructor Sydni Bibb is very engaging, helpful and supportive as we all learn what we’re doing. I will be relocating soon but if I weren’t, I’d be coming here for lots more opportunities to foster my creative side! Incredible place!

The Taste of Art classes are fantastic! They're a great price and you can do so much with them. It's a great way to see if you want to commit to a full class. The instructors are always so fun and friendly! Even if you think you're not "creative" or "artistic" you should try these classes because they walk you through everything and anyone at any level can make something to be proud of.

Very unprofessional and terrible so-called "teaching" in their classes. Teachers are disinterested in actually teaching and act as if it is an imposition if you ask questions in a class they are meant to teach as though it were some type of imposition upon their more valuable than your time. Had had the misfortune of classes with two out of three instructors who've been quite rude and incompetent "teachers". I do NOT recommend if you are going to try something that should have been enjoyable. It is tedious at best. Stay home and watch a YouTube tutorial instead.

In the last several months I've taken a watercolor class and a Saturday wet felting class. Both of the teachers were very knowledgeable and a lot of fun. I really enjoyed them both and look forward to taking more classes.

Mixed experience at the gallery shop. Some of the employees/volunteers have been helpful. On other visits I have either been ignored completely or followed around while being made to feel unwelcome. I am new to the area so perhaps this is how some of the ladies that work here are. I am not new to being profiled and that is certainly the impression I am left with here at times.

The Mickey Coffee Pot Marker is a charming roadside attraction located in Old Salem, Winston-Salem. Originally a sign from a tinsmith business in the 1850s, it has become an icon of Old Salem due to the Moravian tradition of the love feast where hot buns and coffee are served. While slightly out of the way, it's worth a visit for its historical connection and local sculpture.
This is by far the biggest coffee pot I've ever seen. And made of tin. Can't believe it was made in 1858 and still looks this good. Great photo opportunity.
J.T. L — Google review
Cute little pot. Lots of history. Has been around Salem village from the start. Has a nice flower garden around it and in a nice little neighborhood. If you're looking for a little quirkey historical landmark, this can scratch that itch!

Old Salem Museums & Gardens Administrative Offices is a restored 18th-century town with gardens, museums, and shops. The Moravian settlement of Salem offers costumed staff and hands-on activities. Visitors can explore the architecture, dine in the Tavern, or shop at the Winkler Bakery and craft shops without paying admission. However, for a richer experience, access to on-site museums, houses, and workshops is recommended.
It was a Sunday so I was not able to experience the full historical significance. I did like the peaceful walk studying the architecture. The plaques were helpful. The lot 63 bakery was a great surprise with the group of folks sitting around playing instruments.

It is a very fun and beautiful old town to visit that immerse you in history. You get to experience how things were done a few hundred years ago. The staff was amazing at every building you walked into. They give you so much information about that time period as well as the history of the people that lived there. A must see if you love history. They also have fun little shops like a bakery, coffee shop and a lounge of sorts with live music. Fun fun fun!
Larry G — Google review
So good to learn about history in person. The mixed emotions roll through me,Seeing the beautiful buildings, town and folks making so many important things by hand. But also the sadness and unbelievable truth about smart Americans believing they could own people! Horrible part of or past we should face not hide or downplay.
B K — Google review
Old Salem has a nice and cool visitors center to start and end your tour. MESDA has a lovely way to see how households might have looked in the earlier days of WS history. There is a lit of walking on uneven surfaces. The professional docents are kind and informative. Some of the volunteer docents clearly do not like kids and should be encouraged to remember that they have paid tickets too.

It’s always a fun experience to walk around Old Salem. Not sure if it was off-season this time, but there were very few people around. Last time I was here for fall, it was so crowded and so many shops were open. It was still nice to walk around the streets and take some pictures. Some of the museums needed tickets for entry but we didn’t have it. It feels like you’re back in time walking the stone roads and seeing the old architecture.
Ajimon T — Google review
In each building, we found informative tour guides showing demonstrations. Would like to have seen more artifacts in single girls' home. The walk from one building to the next was easy. Loved all the literature available for children and adults. Quality items to purchase. Coffee shops and restaurant with nice outdoor sitting areas with live music.

The Shell-Shaped Shell Station, a historic landmark in Winston-Salem, was built in 1930 by the Quality Oil Company as a unique way to promote the brand. This quirky shell-shaped station is an example of novelty architecture and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Despite no longer being in operation, it is well-maintained and offers a glimpse into the past.
Hard to rate this attraction. I loved the clam shape gas station. It was a look back in time. It cost nothing to see. After you take a few pictures there is not much left to do there. If you're in Winston Salem, it's worth a stop to see. You probably wouldn't want to plan a vacation around it.
Charles A — Google review
I gave it 5 stars even though it's not functional but because it's well restored and very rare being the only one left of its kind. Amazing landmark definitely worth taking a look and a photo but don't expect much more. It's sits on a neighborhood street corner with nothing else to do and very little parking space so your trip will Most likely be short.

What a time to have lived in. Wish they had stuck to the "Shell" Gas station. How fun would these have been. Great historical landmark to see how gimmicky we were even back in the 30's. Very well kept. Lots of Shell memorabilia inside. I got a big kick out of it and even fueled up! 😉 Great way to spend 10mins checking this Shell out.

Spotted this golden clam-shaped gas station thanks to The Impossible Road Trip book by Eric Dregni. It’s a quirky roadside attraction tucked in the middle of nowhere, but surprisingly well-maintained. Worth a quick photo stop. There was another couple there, so apparently I’m not the only one shell-struck.

Nestled in the charming Old Salem, the Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts (MESDA) is a treasure trove for anyone interested in 18th and 19th-century craftsmanship from the Southeastern United States. This expansive museum features an impressive array of furniture, paintings, ceramics, and metalwork that vividly illustrates the lives of early settlers. A guided tour through its galleries offers a deeper understanding of this rich history, with knowledgeable docents eager to share their insights.
Definitive early Southern decorative arts collection and history. A Winterthur of the South in Old Salem. Always worth the visit and never enough time to fully appreciate the knowledge and helpfulness of the attentive staff of docents, volunteers and paid staff who are eager to share the beauty of the place. Superior displays and interpretive signage makes each visit a new discovery.
Leake L — Google review
Most of the museum was closed - but they still charged the full $15 admission. To be fair, when I asked about something in particular the docent unlocked a door and took us into a darkened gallery to see it. Maybe they just don't have enough staff to keep the place open, which is too bad because it's an amazing treasure trove.
Ann M — Google review
Exceptional period rooms and an exceptional collection of furniture. A two hour docent led tour is the best way to see it.
Eric E — Google review
While there’s some very interesting and intricate pieces here I feel like they’ve downsized in recent years and to get the full experience you have to get a guided tour which only happens twice a day it seems. There also used to be a kid’s play area there for years that isn’t there anymore is disappointing since my family had such good memories there.
J. L — Google review
If you want to see all 19 galleries, book (and pay extra for) a guided tour. Otherwise, you will see only the two rooms on either side. The staff was gracious and did their best to accommodate, but I was unable to get the in-depth tour I had hoped for. Going back when I can make an advance reservation.
Myra B — Google review
Small, but really good exhibits. Virginia was so nice and answered all of our questions. It was obvious she had paid attention at the pottery seminar they had just had!🤗 We loved our visit.

I have been through MESDA several times over the years. I recently went back through because I wanted to show a friend the museum, however we were allowed in only a few small places and the vast majority of the museum wasn't open and of course it was the part I wanted to see the most, namely the rooms. The ladies at the ticket area were more interested in carrying on a conversation than explaining that which we discovered upon trying to enter a locked door. $20 for me to see three rooms. Wow! What we saw was nice I'm just disappointed.

The Lam Museum of Anthropology, established in 1963, is dedicated to the study and appreciation of various cultures around the world. Through its extensive collection of ceremonial artifacts and exhibits, it provides an insightful exploration into global societies. The museum's purpose is to delve into the diverse traditions and customs practiced by different civilizations throughout history. By showcasing a wide range of cultural objects and offering educational displays, the museum enables visitors to gain a deeper understanding of humanity's rich heritage from a global perspective.
I visited the LAM recently with some of my classmates. Its exhibits were clearly carefully curated. While it’s a smaller museum, its focused collections and accessible layout make it an engaging stop for anyone interested in anthropology and world cultures. I highly recommend!
Colin M — Google review
Though this anthropology museum is significantly smaller than other entities of its kind, its breadth and variety of exhibits are still commendable. It features artifacts from Asia, Africa, and maybe even the Americas if I remember correctly, spanning categories such as ceremonial masks, carvings, and even bladed weaponry. Considering that admission is free, this is a more than worthwhile stop on any visit to W-S.
Martin G — Google review
Lovely getaway on a Saturday afternoon! Beautiful exhibits with great information. The welcome attendant was so nice and helpful! I especially loved the translations of the pottery vases!

I chaperoned for my daughter's class field trip. It was a very good experience. Very educating, informative, and even some hands on anthropoligy activities! There's a little picnicking area outside, if you want to bring some food and picnic outside. Lots of interesting exhibits. Can't wait to return! 👍👍
Peter T — Google review
Such a tiny, hidden gem! Ok, compared with Chicago's Field Institute or NYs or DCs museums of natural history, it's zero stars. But for a tiny facility that is free and perhaps convenient during a visit to WS, it's delightful! Staff is on hand to answer questions and everyone was genuinely nice and concerned that my questions were answered. At one point, spouse and I were pondering a fine point of one of the exhibits. When we turned to the nearby receptionist (a student) to ask, he'd already started researching the question online! The exhibits change periodically and the only real cohesiveness is anthropology in general, but introductory panels provide an excellent overview of the many sub-specialties within the field. Clear efforts have been made to make the visit interactive, including an Escape Room option in the Africa room. Throughout, displays are nicely done with up to date and attractive signage and cases. There is clearly much love, great thought, and keen intelligence that goes into the exhibits and making this "mini museum" worth the hour it'll take you to enjoy it.
Ellen S — Google review

Every Saturday from 9am until noon, until November 17th, visitors can enjoy the finest small-scale market in the county - Cobblestone Farmers Market. This delightful market is filled with an array of choices and offerings. Alongside a wide variety of fresh produce and baked goods, patrons can also expect a charming ambiance that sets the perfect tone for their day. The market boasts a friendly and professional atmosphere, coupled with affordable prices.
A beautiful day to go to the Cobblestone Farmers Market. Finding a parking spot was a challenge. There were a nice variety of vendors. There was a line to Miss Angels Farm get peaches and other fruit/produce and we were happy to wait! We stopped at Lil Sarah's Bee Farm. I love their honey! We stopped at Tea and Toast. I got the Lavender Creme Earl Gray Latte. It was DELICIOUS! We also stopped at Eigen Chocolate. We got to try a few samples. YUM I got Maple Pecan Chocolate and Hazelnut Gianjua. Looking forward to going back!
Tracy B — Google review
This was my third visit to this Farmers Market, and let me say, I have been to a few other Farmers Markets, but the variety of vendors is top notch, there are not to many vendors all selling the same thing, which is nice and allows you to support multiple businesses, as well as getting a variety of products. This time at the Farmers Market, I utilized a service I have never seen at a farmers’ market: a professional knife sharpener. This is a massive benefit to me and others who come to the market, and what a genius idea! Those who attend farmers' markets are most certainly cooking at home, so knife sharpening is essential for the home cook who has quality knives. This time, I also picked up some fresh bagels, which my partner enjoyed more than the store-bought ones. They were a bit pricy at $10 for only 4, but they were hearty and hefty bagels, as my picture shows. This market also offers a wide variety of meat from several different farms, as shown in my picture. One establishment just about has all the cuts from an animal you could want. There were vendors selling plants for your garden or home, and one vendor was selling mushroom tinctures and extracts. I purchased one of those for myself. Coffee, fruits, veggies, homemade bread, desserts, and many other things are on offer at this lovely farmers market. Now that the weather is nice again, I plan to be here weekly to check out what the farmers have on offer!
Malachi S — Google review
The market itself is small, but the selection is not. Beautiful seasonal fruits, veggies, mushrooms, and flowers. Baked goods, soaps, pickles, terrariums, all sorts of things. I love a good market and this one is quality for it's size.
Meghan L — Google review
Average size. Numerous ag vendors. Prices are reasonable. Park across the street. A really good vibe. A very good display of vegetables.
Ken H — Google review
Best farmers market around! The vendors are well vetted and if you're interested in supporting organic and regenerative farming practices, this is the place for you to go! So much creativity and innovative practice!
Julie L — Google review
Beautiful array of veggies, meats, delicious bread, sweets, soaps etc Definitely bring large tote bag or wagon☺️ Trust me!
Kiesha C — Google review
Delightfully charming atmosphere and a wonderful way to start your day. If you're looking for fresh produce and baked goods, this is the place.
Win S — Google review
This has become one of our favorite weekend activities. The number and variety of vendors is comparable to large-scale and permanent farmers markets. But what Cobblestone does far better is promote every one of their vendors on their Factbook, which helps when you want to go back and find contact info for products and vendors you enjoyed.
