Waterfalls
Vermillion Falls Park in Hastings is a picturesque stop featuring a 35-foot waterfall, walking trails, and a rentable picnic pavilion for events. The park offers free parking and easy access to the falls, which are located right in the center of town. Visitors can stroll along the path beside the Vermillion River and cross a charming walking bridge. The park's well-maintained trails provide a peaceful and relaxing experience, with the added attraction of seeing the waterfall freeze in winter.
Visited on Mother's Day with the family before a wedding. A beautiful waterfall and peaceful atmosphere! Perfect time, the area was clean. Easy water to the waterfall. A must see! Few restaurants around as well. Parking lot close to the waterfall approximately a 2/3 minute walk. I wore a dress and sandals and it was an easy walk for me to take photos !
Jas G — Google review
This is a beautiful, historic little area with some adventurous, unmarked trails below the falls...be careful, they are unmarked trails, and very difficult terrain (generally speaking). There is also a paved trail that are falls level. There was a port-a-potty which was unkept and not handicapped accessible. Handicapped accessibility is limited to the top of the falls and the paved trail. Parking is plentiful and a medium lot which is easy to access.
Linda — Google review
This area is so unbelievably beautiful, you'll have to keep shutting your gaping mouth. You can hike down to the water or hear it melodically from an upper trail. My favorite was the multi-level waterfall from the bridge.
Tricia W — Google review
Beautiful park with paved paths and great signage. Easy to walk from the falls across the bridge to the old mill ruins - took about 35 minutes total to go there and back. (2km) The gorge is very pretty, and the falls are absolutely breathtaking!
Hannah E — Google review
Beautiful place, well kept. There is a trail down to the falls, but be physically able to manage rough dirt paths, steep hills and slippery rocks.
Jon P — Google review
We got married here on 10-4-25. We had never been to Vermillion Falls previously, only found out it existed a few months ago. As crazy as it sounds we climbed down to the top of the 1st waterfall with my 86 year old mother. She had plenty of help from her 2 eldest and strongest grandson's. It's a beautiful place to make beautiful memories.
Elizabeth — Google review
Beautiful waterfall! The lock bridge is also pretty cool. Lovey place for a an afternoon date.
Becki E — Google review
Beautiful falls, need to ignore the industrial setting. Easy to view, though, and they are pretty. Park seemed more walk through except for the shelter with picnic tables.

Nestled just outside Hastings, Carpenter Nature Center is a breathtaking 725-acre haven that showcases the beauty of the Mississippi River Valley. This nature sanctuary invites visitors to wander its scenic trails while observing an array of wildlife, including migratory birds, majestic eagles, and playful deer. Families will find it particularly enjoyable as the easy hiking paths are perfect for children. The center also features fascinating live animals such as turtles, snakes, and raptors like bald eagles and barn owls.
Had a great day at applefest, watched a seminar on the raptors, and picked apples. It was a fun time. I look forward to coming back next summer to do more exploring.

Loved this place. I only wished I had more time to spend there. Was able to spend a couple of hours on the trails. They have ponds, look outs and little bridges
Brenda C — Google review
Had been hearing about the place for the last 2 years but never got down there. I’m sad we have missed out on two years of potentially awesome memories. This place is amazing. Best nature center with live injured/rescue animals I’ve seen in MN. We were welcomed so graciously by the bird banding team. What a great morning
Milan H — Google review
free nature center with some beautiful short to medium walks/hikes among well-maintained trails.
Justin Z — Google review
We’ve been to Carpenter Nature Center many times. It’s out favorite place to get apples in the fall. We also love hiking on the beautiful grounds, stopping in to visit the beautiful raptors, and enjoying their educational programs. The views of the St Croix River are breathtaking. I feel as though this is one of the hidden gems that is not that far from the cities.
Melissa G — Google review
A peaceful place for a walk, hike, birding adventure or even a picnic. Animal exhibits inside and out.
Ben D — Google review
This is one of me and my boys favorite place to visit close to the cities. It has a few animals inside the Nature Center, including turtles, snakes, a bald eagle, barn owl, and red tail hawk. The trails are easy and would be a good hike for children. The views are wonderful overlooking the St. Croix River at a few overlooks and you can actually go right down to the river as well.

Brewery
Food & Drink
Spiral Brewery offers an aesthetically pleasing environment with a pleasant atmosphere. The beer selection leans towards the hoppier side, including their porter which may not be appealing to everyone. However, their Mississippi Dog hazy IPA pleasantly surprises with its tastiness and unexpected likability. It has a balanced hop level and a subtle hint of pineapple flavor that is quite enjoyable. Additionally, the Big Barge Brown and the Fogtoberfest are highly recommended options.
Lovely spot in historic downtown Hastings. Great brews and great service! Sidewalk seating is available (that’s where we hanging out) as well as upstairs patio seating.
Molly M — Google review
Sure! Here’s a polished version of your review: ⸻ Spiral Brewing in Hastings is a fantastic spot for craft beer lovers! The Belgian Quad they had was absolutely exceptional—one of the best I’ve ever had. It’s rich, complex, and worth coming back for on its own. I also tried their Townie Kölsch, which was light, crisp, and a solid choice for a Kölsch. The atmosphere here is great, with a well-maintained space and a nice patio to enjoy your drinks. One of the most interesting things about this place is their unique “buy a beer for a friend” system. They have a huge board where you can pre-purchase a beer for someone, which adds a fun and personal touch to the experience. Overall, Spiral Brewing is a well-run brewery with a great selection of beers and a welcoming vibe. I’ll definitely be back—especially for that Belgian Quad!
Akshay R — Google review
Absolutely amazing brewery with fantastic choices owned and operated by women! They always support the local communities, they have beer and seltzers, and have different events all week long! Tonight was an open mic night. So awesome to have a relaxing place with great drinks and a fantastic atmosphere!
Meenu H — Google review
I definitely want to revisit this brewery when the weather is better to check out the rooftop patio. We popped in for a quick visit and tried the Westies with the Besties DIPA and the Bottoms Porter. Good beer and nice facility right by the Mississippi River. They have a Beer Board where you can buy a beer for a friend in advance, and they can go in anytime and claim it. Pretty fun idea. You can also buy for vets or firefighters or a couple other professions. Very cool.
Brian R — Google review
It was our first visit to Spiral. Great location downtown Hastings. We sampled eight beers and found the Sour Kinni and Townie Kolsch the best of the eight. The brewery was dog friendly. We will definitely be back.
Dennis E — Google review
Great place to visit. An absolute must if you're in the area! The bartender was friendly as could be. Loved the service we received. The building itself was lot's of fun to be in. Very nicely done. The even have a kids nook under the stairs to the deck. The also have a great patio that goes out into the street. It was really just a fun atmosphere. Oh yeah, the beer was original and very tasty. A fun place for a cold pint and catching up. I hope this helps. Cheers
James W — Google review
After having been given two four packs of Spiral beer from a random guy on the street, we finally made it. We brought our own pizza, since they dont have food. The beer is good, cool space, cant wait to get on the patio in summer.
Shannon N — Google review
Great service and nice patio seating. I did not care for the leduc red ipa but the Mississippi fog was good and the trip or treat belgian. The flight is a nice option but it is big commitment with six slots to fill.

Froth & Cork, a charming coffee shop, left a strong impression with their fantastic offerings and exceptional service. LeDuc Historic Estate is a Gothic Revival home from the 1860s that offers a glimpse into its rich history through various exhibits. Located in Hastings, it provides a unique blend of arts, dining, and shopping experiences for visitors. Many travelers have found it to be an unexpected gem during their trips, praising the knowledgeable tour guides and the intriguing insights into the family who once resided there.
After growing up in Hastings I finally got the chance to tour the Leduc mansion. The tour is very interesting and informative. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and really cared about letting us know what the family who built the house and lived there were really like in those days. I plan to bring others back to also visit.
Perry A — Google review
I'm giving this 4 stars just because it seems like a work in progress, BUT I would highly recommend it. I've seen some other historic homes in the area and this one is good but not as good as some of the others --- still VERY cool and very much worth the 10 dollars!! Plus the chickens are just so cute. Tour guide Connor was awesome and they also do tea here occasionally year-round.

Love this historic estate. One of the best in the state. The tour guides are always amazing and I always learn something new each visit.

Wonderfully preserved mansion in the heart of Hastings. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Highly recommend visiting in mid Sept. for the civil war reenactment weekend event.
Gene H — Google review
Toured some historic places around the country so this was a spot we really wanted to see while in Hastings. This is a house built in the 1800s not long before the Civil War. It's a great expierence for some history and the tour guide was awesome.

I went with a church group and greatly enjoyed the experience. The grounds and buildings are beautiful and well maintained. Kara the tour guide was engaging and knowledgeable and accommodating of members with mobility issues. I hope to get back soon for their other events!

Park
Point Douglas Park is a must-visit gem located right along the main road leading into Wisconsin, making it an easily accessible stop for travelers. Nestled on the banks of the St. Croix River, which marks the border between Minnesota and Wisconsin, this park is just a short five-mile drive from downtown Hastings. It’s an ideal spot to unwind after exploring the city or enjoying a day out. The park offers a serene atmosphere perfect for reading or simply soaking in nature's beauty.
This is probably the best and biggest beach in Twin Cities area on the spectacular St Croix River right before Mississippi River swallows it under the lifting bridge. There’s a small, more private beach on the other side of the St Croix River. Clean water, unrealistic views, plenty of grills and tables, meter parking. The downtown Prescott offers plenty of food options. Although my favorite is Enrique’s Taco place next to Subway, it’s probably the closest place to the park. It’s a bit small, but food - tacos, burritos, fajitas- is delicious. There’s a trail that starts here and will take you about 5-6 miles along Mississippi River to Hastings. Ptacek , excellent grocery store, is about a mile down the road, also General Dollar, Dollar Tree, and Tractor Supply.
NF V — Google review
Nice place to relax and read or just chill. There are picnic tables and restrooms. Further down there was a beach area and swimming area but I didn't go down that far. Incredibly beautiful views from the park shoreline.
Ella P — Google review
This place was beautiful, the beach was clean and lots of places to walk and fish. Highly recommend
Taryn A — Google review
We only stopped for a short time while on a road trip. There were a few people fishing. Beautiful view and water access.
Jeremy G — Google review
Nice beach area. Can run / bike / swim from there. Bike access from Cottage Grove is dicey but very good from Hastings. Fishing, picnic tables, and volleyball also.
Tom K — Google review
There's a gotta be a bald eagle nest nearby cuz I've spotted at least 4 bald eagles. It's also a decent spot for fishing although you do have to have a permit to visit this park. This area is very windy no matter what season it is so dress properly.
Jessica — Google review
For a strip of land that used to be a roadside rest, it’s actually a really nice park! A beach with bathrooms on one end, trails on the other end, and more restrooms in the middle.

Such a gorgeous place for camping and hiking! My wife and I went this last weekend for a night, and we had a blast hiking down to the river from our tent site. Only downside was that I accidentally booked the backpacking site without considering how far we’d have to hike to it from the car after arriving at 10:30pm, but we figured it out. Nice fishermen along the beaches and in their boats as well.
Jackson O — Google review
It’s a calm and peaceful area with the best views of nature. A perfect spot for camping ⛺️, hiking, or just a relaxing walk. I went with my friends, and we really enjoyed the sounds of nature — it felt so refreshing
Swetha V — Google review
We recently went on a bike ride around Afton State Park, and overall it was a mix of beautiful scenery with some frustrating challenges. The natural beauty of the area is undeniable—the rolling landscape, peaceful setting, and wide-open views make it a wonderful place to spend time outdoors. We were especially surprised that there weren’t any bugs during our visit, which made the ride much more enjoyable. The highlight of the evening was definitely the sunset—it was absolutely spectacular and made for a perfect backdrop to end the day. Unfortunately, the trails and parking lot left a lot to be desired. The paved trails are in very poor condition. In fact, they were some of the most uneven, cracked, and bumpy trails I’ve ever ridden on. It was difficult to relax and enjoy the ride because we had to constantly watch for rough patches and broken pavement. The parking lot wasn’t in great shape either, which added to the overall impression that the infrastructure here has been neglected. My biggest complaint is the lack of upkeep on the paved trails. Considering visitors pay for passes, it feels like some of that money could and should be reinvested into making the park more accessible and enjoyable for everyone. A fresh paving job would go a long way in improving the biking experience and encouraging people to keep coming back. In short, Afton State Park has incredible natural beauty, but the poor condition of the paved trails really takes away from the experience. If the park could put some resources into repairing and maintaining them, it would easily become one of the best biking spots in the area.
Edward H — Google review
Afton State Park is absolutely beautiful, especially during the fall season! The colors of the trees are stunning vibrant reds, oranges, and yellows everywhere you look. The trails are peaceful and well maintained, making it the perfect spot for hiking, taking photos, or just enjoying nature. There are plenty of lookout points where you can see the river and the colorful forest views. It’s such a relaxing and refreshing place to visit, especially in autumn. Highly recommend for anyone who loves nature and fall scenery! 🍁🍂
Claudia P — Google review
I have been here so many times but usually hiked the same trail and just went down by the water with the kids. But now I’ve gone a handful of times to really explore hiking other trails and WOW there is so much to offer at this park. Serene. Scenic. Nice trails. So many opportunities to just be at peace and enjoy time in nature.
Crafty M — Google review
Enjoyed being able to stay in a camper cabin close to home. We got very lucky reserving on short notice in the fall. It was serene at night. Very busy park during the day. Lots of people on the trails and along the river. There's so much to see and explore at Afton. The paved bike trails were really nice - smooth, great scenery, and wide enough for bikes and peds. Next time I hope to stay at a Yurt!
Sarah C — Google review
Nice variety of trails, ample parking. Trails signs are a bit confusing, didn't find the Hiking Club secret word because we took the wrong path but found our way back eventually. Good excuse to go back and try the trails again, theyre beautiful. Riverfront paths, picnic areas, scheduled events and a visitor center with a bathroom. Pokémon stops too. I recommend.
Natane R — Google review
I loved hiking here. I wanted some place to clear my mind and enjoy the quiet - this was totally it! One thing I noticed doing the North Trail was that I really experienced lots of different environments like shoreline, prairie, wooded areas, and more. Nature is so beautiful and this place is a new favorite- I’ll be back!

This winter ski & snowboard resort on 300 acres includes 48 trails, 5 terrain parks & 18 chairlifts.
There were tons of people on staff that made my experience better. From the rental staff helping me understand skiing to the woman in the lift line that realized I was new to skiing to my last experience from Emma, Alisha, and Reese(?) in the cafe lodge. I appreciated my time and can’t wait to come back. Hopefully without “bombing” down the slope 😅

It was such a great time! It was my first time here and I took a friend skiing for the first time who has never seen snow like this before. It was a bit pricey compared to other skiing resorts I've visited before in several other states that have just as many paths or more. They did not have all the lifts running. The staff who was working there was very friendly and would always encourage or compliment my friend on improving each time she came down the path. (Even though she fell almost every time) Overall, it was a great experience but may consider going somewhere else that isn't so expensive.
Elizabeth N — Google review
Love coming here from the cities just 30 min down the road. Facilities have def gotten nicer since I’ve been here last (2018?). All the staff were super friendly and helpful and made our day better. Just be aware that not all the dining is open during the week! Had a great time tho!
Karleen C — Google review
On Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at Afton Alps, I witness an incident that occurred on the chairlift at The Highlands, that raised serious safety concerns. A group of teenage boys were on the lift, and one of them dropped a large clump of snow from above the trail where riders were below. Fortunately, it missed the rider, but the situation could have ended dangerously. When I confronted him, he mocked me and even challenged me to go to the terrain park. Then I went to report the incident to the staffs. Despite alerting a ski patrol member, the response was dismissive. When I provided detailed information, including a video of the event, the staff seemed indifferent and questioned what action was needed from me. I expressed my frustration, questioning Afton’s commitment to safety, and implying that the resort is more focused on profit than customer care. Just unbelievable! When safety is compromised, especially in such a dangerous situation, it’s concerning when an organization fails to take action. Accountability is key, and it’s troubling when there’s a lack of response, especially when I had went out of my way to provide evidence. It’s tough to support an organization that doesn’t seem to prioritize the well-being of its customers. I hope that my experience can bring attention to the issue, and others can take notice as well. And parents, if these were your children, do better!

I just want to say everyone was great. We had a great experience, all the staff is wonderful! The instructors were outstanding, specially the instructor that helped my brother-in-law, Juan. I didn’t catch her name, but she was so kind and patient with him. It was truly an unforgettable experience! Thank you!
Vargas M — Google review
Not as crowded as the other resort in town. Great snow making and park set. Wish they have more terrain variety.
Chenyang Z — Google review
For Midwest skiing it is pretty good. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Everyone from the rental shop to the restaurant staff were great. Great way to spend a day.
Scott G — Google review
I'd probably give Afton a 3.75. Skied with my daughters the other day. Dare I say our home hill Snowcreek has better vertical? It's close. Anyways, there are a good amount of runs here but they are all pretty easy. The blacks didn't offer much challenge but offered some good cruising. There was a nice route that goes through a pipe with a nice jump at the end. We did that over and over. The terrain park was a bit too ambitious for us, they could use some smaller stuff varied in. Pretty much everything was expensive. I did appreciate being able to park at less crowded chalets and ski right down with the epic pass. The runs were groomed and in good shape after raining a couple days earlier. The merch store is strong. Good stuff in there. Solid resort just expensive without too much variety in terrain. Welch Village is a better value and better skiing, especially when the back bowl is open.

I was able to spend yesterday having a “sauna day” thanks to Trinity Sauna! My friends and I enjoyed the sauna, cold water immersion and warm fire all at the Alexis Bailey Vineyard in Hastings. This made the day even more special. The grounds are beautiful and being able to have wine amongst the vines, by a warm fire and inside a heated yurt on a chilly Fall day made it wonderful! Our hosts, Chet and Andrea, checked on us throughout our experience and made us feel very special! And the wine was tasty! We picked up a couple of bottles for home! I hope to return for another invigorating Trinity experience and relaxing wine tasting among the vines. Kathy

On Sunday, June 29th, my best friend surprised me with a picnic lunch date at Alexis Bailly Winery in Hastings, MN. My friend, Joelle lives in Stacy and I in Hugo. I mention this only because the drive was not only pleasant, but WELL WORTH IT!! OMG! Let me tell you: The grounds, main building and the "Yert" (tent like shelter) she rented for the afternoon were absolutely lovely, tranquil, bucolic, and immaculate. In the back of the main building where the live Salsa band was playing that afternoon could only be described as pastoral! Then add to that having the wonderful music filling the air, and looking out from wherever one is sitting and seeing the vineyards - well, it was the BEST AFTERNOON BIRTHDAY GIFT I could have ever received!!! Aside from the venue itself, let me tell you about the proprietors of this extraordinary piece of heaven here in little ol' Minnesota . . . Chet, and his wife Andrea own the vineyard. They were the fantastic!! So genuinely interested in accommodating us - making sure we had anything and everything we needed for our special day. The bartender, "Tamru" (I think I got that right) was so engaging, cheerful and pleasant. Really, it was probably the BEST BIRTHDAY I've ever experienced. My best friend who is an amazing chef, brought "French themed food", which we shared with the owners. We tasted their great wine, and bought some to take home. If you really, really want to make someone feel really special, or have a special occasion to celebrate, I highly recommend you do it at the Alexis Bailly Winery! I intend to go back on the Sundays they have live jazz music. Lastly, I want to personally THANK Joelle (my Bestie) and Chet, Andrea (owners) and Tamru (bartender) for taking part in making my birthday such an incredibly joyful and memorable experience!! Most Appreciatively! jeanne chacon** Hugo, MN

This place is gorgeous, is so much fun and has amazing wine. They have a bourbon infused wine that is absolutely delicious that I recommend trying. I will be coming back. I highly recommend visiting this vineyard, it does not disappoint. We had our work holiday party here so they do corporate events! Everyone there is so nice and makes it easy to have a great time!

It was a beautiful winery/space. We brought some picnic snacks and I love that they allowed that. I enjoyed most of the wines. However, I bought a bottle of the Seyval Blanc. The vintage I bought was not the same as what I tasted. In fact the bottle I bought was bad. And then I saw it was from 2023, which is 2 years old and most white wines can’t last that long…so not sure if it was the vintage or just one bad bottle but it was not good. It’s unfortunate because I paid $30 for it and it was not good. I’m surprised that they would first have the wine we tasted be different than the vintage that we buy and second, that they’d keep that vintage on the floor. It was not good…I dumped over half the bottle. It’s hard to tell from the picture but it was a color yellow that a white wine shouldn’t be

We had such a great experience even before we arrived! A week or so prior to our visit, we asked for information on how to plan our time there, what to expect, etc. Alexis Bailey wrote right back with exactly what I was looking for! As well as a great way to proudly explain this amazing winery to our California guests (who really know their wine!). Once we arrived, we had a great time. The owner even came out to say hello. We had been to the winery years ago with my parents and loved it. It was fun to meet the new owners who have a great energy. We look forward to coming back soon!

Always a great venue for a variety of music. Drink wine inside or venture into the vineyard or the many picnic areas.
David V — Google review
This is a very quaint beautiful winery. You see when you enter the grapes they use to make the wine. There are plenty of lovely scenic places to sit outside and it is just as elegantly rustic and roomy inside. The wine is varied and delicious and they know how to introduce you to something you'll enjoy! Must try.

Love this hidden gem of a winery here in Hastings!! The wine is great, the employees are knowledgeable, there is plenty of outdoor and indoor seating and lots of grass to run and play!! They have special events and bring in special musoc-

Spring lake park reserve, just south of Hastings, is a great park for hiking, biking, nature viewing, archery practice, and even Bison viewing. The park is always well maintained with great facilities and trails. They have a herd of Bison here at the park reserve, but they have plenty of room to roam, so seeing them isn't always a given. Check their website for which area they are in on a particular day to increase your chances. They have a great archery facility with some targets in the woods and also platforms to stand on to practice from different elevation angles.
B A — Google review
Really cool trails here and views to the river is always in sight. Very clean and well laid out. They also have The preserve building that has pamphlets and things to do in the area. Plenty of parking too they have lots of parking lots scattered around. And the sun sets are beautiful there are dirt paths you can take down towards the river and sit on rocks and watch the sunset.

Great biking and hiking. The views of the Mississippi and Spring Lake are spectacular! The walking trails closest to the bluff have some great hidden cliffs and stone features.
Julie — Google review
Very nice park with lots of picnic shelters, picnic tables, great views overlooking the river. Lots of shady trees. Nice playground for small kids. Right on the Mississippi river bicycle trail.

Beautiful lake park.Great park with lots of trails to walk and awesome views of the Mississippi River. There are also spots for picnics as well as a large playground. There is also a learning center. Lots of parking and park entry is free

I highly recommend it. It is a beautiful park to do a variety of activities, walk, run, hike, bike, take the kids to the playground. Plus, in my opinion, the best part is if you go in the archery entrance, you can see Amercan Bison.

Fantastic park with great parking spaces and great restrooms and wonderful playground equipment for kids. Beach access and boat launch are busy. Many people fishing . Another camping trip this past weekend was again Great! Appears bathrooms showers revamped and better. Had Huge campsite! Great playground and trails the kids loved.

Very nice park for camping off the beaten path. Nice, quiet stay that really got us back in touch with nature. Perfect temperatures the end of July. They have campfire rings at each site, which we used several times. We brought our travel trailer and they provided electric. We did have to use their bathhouse because they didn’t have water on site. Also no cell signal (but I took that as a positive!) Overall a nice time.
Happy O — Google review
Very nice and clean campground. We hiked hoping to see some nice bluffs but either there isn't any paths in that area, or we didn't see that path. Looks like they're doing some new paths, so we'll be back to check that out. You have to pay to hike fyi. $7
Billy H — Google review
This park has less kids stuff than most, but it makes for a more quiet experience with less kids and dogs. Bathrooms are clean, trails are nice for both the biking and walking.
Cara J — Google review
Relatively easy to get to from Hwys 10, 61, 95 and St Croix Trail. It's a Washington County Park, so make sure you have either a day pass or annual County Park pass on your vehicle. We camped at site #33. Abundant cover from overhanging oak trees; lots of atypical space behind campsite since there is a trail entrance and a frisbee-golf target behind it; playground and tot lot across the road. Good for tenting and pop-up camping. Quiet for the most part. Note that electrical at this site is 20A-120V service only. 1/4 mile walk to main bathrooms and showers; pit toilet close by but not too close. Park has access to a beach on the river near the boat ramp. Water is relatively shallow for the little ones but deep enough for a good swim in the river. Lots of boats on the river over holiday weekends. Speaking of boat ramp: It's huge. Lots of parking. It can serve 3 boats at a time. Protected by harbor and backwater area. Hmmm...what else? Nice trails in the areas that go through the upland prairie. Firewood sold for $6 a bundle. Lots of day use activity areas including softball diamond, volleyball courts and playgrounds. Overall clean, well-maintained and safe. We would come back!
Steve K — Google review
Only 20 minutes from downtown St. Paul and I felt like I was 1,000,000 miles away. It’s a gorgeous park with a lovely beach, boat ramp and camping sites. The bathrooms are probably the nicest ones I’ve ever seen in a campground. Big negative: no pets. I have no idea why dogs are not allowed but it was very disappointing.
Sara K — Google review
Pros: The campsites were huge and varied, some were in the woods and some out in the open so there were plenty of choices. It also had availability of a number of sites with only a few weeks notice. There were multiple playgrounds that were very nice and within view of many of the sites. The kids loved playing in the river as well, although we only let them wade in rather than actually swim. The beach was nice. This campground was a favorite for many of the people in our party. There is a pass required in addition to the site fees, but we had a yearly Carver County one and they are reciprocal. Still probably cheaper than a private campground even with the extra cost. Cons: I love bike paths when camping and we had to drive to get to one, which is a definite con for me. We also like visiting a brewery or winery and those were also a good drive. Obviously not something everyone cares about though.

Depot Park is an adorable, small park. There is a large parking lot right next to it for easy access. Typically, we make a quick stop here while taking a walk or bike ride. There is a bike station here to refill your tires, if needed. The ground is a type of soft foam. The playground is for toddlers and preschool age children, but elementary children can enjoy it too. There is an abundance of benches. Depending on the time of day, half of them are in shade.

Small park but super nice. Good views of the bridge and the train bridge. A big pavilion where they do music events in the summer. A little area to make some music of your own. Well kept park.

Little Log House Pioneer Village in Minnesota is a highly recommended wedding venue with more to offer than expected. The well-kept village features a beautiful ceremony location and stunning landscape for portraits. It's also a great spot for events like the Antique Power Show, offering an authentic Americana experience with genuine antique buildings. However, it's important to note that the village operates on a cash-only basis, which should be properly communicated to visitors.
As a photographer who photographed a fall wedding here, this place is just magical! The photo opp’s are endless, the ceremony and reception venues are jaw dropping and the staff was lovely to work with! I love this place!
Markina B — Google review
My husband and I got married on June 21st, 2025 at Little Log House and we couldn't have asked for a more perfect venue for our wedding! From the moment we first visited, we fell in love with the all around character and beautiful spaces at the venue, and we immediately knew it was the one. The team at the venue exceeded every single expectation right from the beginning and continued to do so all the way through to our special day! Both the ceremony and reception spaces are absolutely stunning and the entire venue has so much character and uniqueness all around! What sets this venue apart even more so is the incredible team that we worked with from the beginning stages of planning all the way to our wedding day. They were professional, organized, and genuinely invested in making our day perfect. Every question we had was answered quickly and kindly, and on the wedding day, everything ran so smoothly thanks to their behind-the-scenes coordination with us! You can tell how passionate they are about the venue and the work they do. Our guests are still talking to us about how cool the venue was and how smooth everything felt. We knew we were in good hands, and it allowed us to be fully present and enjoy every moment of our special day. Thank you to everyone at Little Log House for helping us create the most magical day of our lives. Our Happily Ever After was beyond perfect. If you're considering this venue — I would highly recommend them! You will not be disappointed!

I came this weekend for the Antique Power Show, and it was such a interesting and wonderful experience. I'm not really even into stuff like this, but I had such a blast. The Pioneer Village is massive. There were so many different old timey buildings and structures to see and tour. The WWII reenactment is such a fun thing to see. The amount of old tractors and equipment on display was incredible. Such a terrific overall experience

Where to begin... This was the first venue we toured for our wedding and when we looked at a few others we just kept going back to Little Log. Angie and her team provided the most accommodating, professional, timely, and accurate advice you could ask for when looking for a unique wedding venue in Minnesota. Every one of our guests (and vendors) were truly amazed at all of the history this property has to offer and all of the things to see. We actually utilized their website map to create a scavenger hunt to entice guests to see the property. When you're looking for a unique venue for your special wedding day or event, Little Log and Angie will not only make sure you feel special, but your guests as well. I had many people come to me in pure shock when the bartender remembered their order all night. Its the little details like this that make it all the more magical when deciding a venue Thank you to everyone at Little Log for being so easy, pleasant, and fun to work with! You truly made our day amazing. -The Mitchell's

On June 21, my daughter and her new husband celebrated their wedding at the Little Log House Pioneer Village. We toured this charming venue last June and instantly fell in love with it. Both the character and personality of the entire village is unbelievable. The photo opportunities for both their engagement and wedding photos were plentiful, so fun, and amazing! The buildings we were able to access for the preparation (bridal/groom’s suites), ceremony, reception, and social hour were exquisite. It added a whole lot of charm to this special event. All of the grounds are maintained to perfection. It is clear the owners take pride in the village they so wonderfully created. The staff was incredible to work with throughout the entire one year planning journey. They were quick to answer any questions and just easy to work with overall, all the way to the end of the experience. I highly, without reservation, recommend Little Log House Pioneer Village for any upcoming event, especially a wedding. Sheryl (mother of the bride)

From beginning to end, our wedding experience with LLH was truly exceptional! Angie was always incredibly quick to respond to any questions we had throughout the planning process and was super accommodating. Working with Tiffany the day before and day of the wedding was an absolute pleasure as well--she answered last-minute questions for us and helped so much in the setup! Countless guests came up to us and raved about the space, saying they wished they knew about LLH when they had gotten married because it seriously is such a beautiful place with its own rustic, historical charm. The bridal suite worked perfectly for our two hair stylists and one makeup artist, as it was super spacious and had exactly what our stylists needed to do their work (the salon chairs are a HUGE bonus!). The Stable ceremony space was absolutely perfect (the big windows let in a lot of gorgeous natural lighting that is GREAT for photos), and I could not have been happier with how the Village Hall reception space looked and functioned for our guest count (~165), buffet-style dinner, and entertainment (dueling pianos). Overall, the staff, the space, the aesthetic--an easy 5 out of 5 stars!

This place is awesome. Driving in feels like you're entering a movie set, and that's not even the best part. The staff was so incredibly kind and helpful, as a DJ I really loved my time here. Everything was great, from the ceremony space, to the reception hall, even down to the bathrooms. It’s refreshing to work at a venue where you can tell every detail has been carefully considered. If I was getting married, Little Log House would be at the top of my list!

It's a great place to spend the day at. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars. You are basically forced to buy drinks and snacks from them because you aren't allowed to bring your own. Some people just can't afford that, I'm sorry
