Nature & Parks
Lions Park at Lake Point, formerly a roadside park, is an 8.7-acre recreational area owned by Danbury Township in Marblehead. It features a bridge over a stream connecting the quarry and Lake Erie, athletic fields, a playground for kids, picnic areas with plenty of tables, and clear blue water flowing into the lake.
Nice, quiet and calm park to visit. Has a little something for everyone. Playground for the kids and fishing or just sitting on a bench at the lake. Very relaxing and we went there a few times when we visited the area. Enjoyed the swans swimming as well, beautiful birds.
John D — Google review
Beautiful little spot for a picnic, but no swimming or boating allowed. We enjoyed a walk along the shore, then hopped across the road to the park to see the pretty still waters... Very small park.
Paige C — Google review
This place had beautiful clear pond! It was a great place for a picnic and/or fishing. Across the street is beautiful Lake Erie where you can enjoy the wonderful sounds of waves crashing on the rocks and enjoy the views of Cedar Point. Great little gem we found while looking for a fishing pond.
Melissa M — Google review
Hidden small park on the peninsula a playground fishing pond picnic area.Been bringing daughter here since was 2 caught her first fish here. She’s almost 15 and it’s her favorite fishing spot park is very secluded and a awesome view of Cedar Point from the front road area.
JC M — Google review
I've driven by this park many of times before, but decided to stop today. I was surprised at how nice it was. There are porta potty's available, a shelter house, plenty of picnic tables, a playground for the kids, and the water was clear and blue. I was surprised at how much was flowing from the pond over into Lake Erie via a small stream.
Brian D — Google review
A gem of a park tucked along the coastline! Family-friendly playground, picnic tables, and pavilion. Nice place to stop with views of the lake and Cedar Point. Great trees for stretching out hammocks. Porta-pottiesavailable and several people fishing in the pond.
Melanie C — Google review
This is a hidden gem! The quarry lake is great spot for some good fishing.

Nature preserve
Lakeside Daisy State Nature Preserve is a stunning 136-acre park in Marblehead, boasting the only natural population of Lakeside Daisies in the U.S. These vibrant yellow wildflowers create a breathtaking sight as they bloom across the limestone terrain. The preserve is dedicated to protecting these rare and unique flowers, making it a must-visit destination. While the daisies typically bloom in spring, visitors can still catch glimpses of them well into October.
I feel so lucky to have stumbled upon this place with a friend at the very time these rare and threatened daisies were blooming. A beautiful park dedicated to the preservation of these flowers. We walked the park, sat and enjoyed the beauty and watched an eagle's nest in the background of the preserve. The geological story of these flowers is fascinating. I loved it here!!
Cathy M — Google review
The trail is very short. I'm guessing half a mile in and out. No parking lot we could find. We parked on the side of the road. The daisies were not in bloom during our visit. I'm sure it would have been far more lovely if they had been. There was no shad, only a few wildflowers, and very few wildlife, including birds.
Samantha Z — Google review
This is one of the smallest nature preserves in all of Ohio. It is actually quite beautiful. It was excessively buggy in late May, but none of the insects tried to get in my face. I do think this preserve is very unique even if it is tiny.
Thirteendays — Google review
This lovely little spot is perfect for birding and botanizing. The trail is very short (this park is tiny) and easily walkable but it isn’t wheelchair friendly. The daisies weren’t blooming when I was there but the orchids were!
Ben W — Google review
A lighthouse and the house and The boathouse are open from memorial Day for two months and free to get in

Next to massive mine, sure this place is just their leftovers from a previous mine. Not much to see but nice place to stop if you need to stretch yer legs!
Lisa S — Google review
Absolutely gorgeous lakeside daisies. Highly recommend seeing as they are very rare.
Dorothy B — Google review
This nature center is SO unique. Lakeside daisies are INCREDIBLY rare. We didn't see any here as they generally bloom in the spring. However, at the little fenced garden in Lakeside, my boyfriend was thrilled to discover a half dozen or so STILL blooming mid October. He took pictures on his SLR camera so I don't have pictures to post. I'm sure this place is incredible in the spring ablaze with yellow daisies. It's somewhat handicap accessible & I saw at least one bench. It's a quiet & peaceful place, at least in October.

Park
Marblehead Lighthouse State Park is a historical site featuring the impressive lighthouse, Lifesaving Station Museum, and Keepers House Museum. Visitors can explore maritime history and enjoy picturesque views of Lake Erie. The park offers picnic areas, shaded spots, and paved paths for leisurely strolls. There are also facilities like bathrooms, a museum, and a gift shop available for visitors. The area is known for its natural rock formations, beautiful lake views, and opportunities to spot eagles.
Beautiful lighthouse with a great property. Explore the rocky coastline of Lake Erie and enjoy the beautiful architecture of the lighthouse. Photographer's dream. I took some B&W film to capture the lighthouse.
Benjamin C — Google review
I already wrote a review for the state park at large. The Quarry isn't on google maps, so this is for that. If you just pull out of the main parking lot there will be another lot and across the street is the limestone quarry. It's really cool to see remnants of the past. They have a few signs up providing historical information. You can even walk to this spot from the main lot. I think this is worth checking out.
Thirteendays — Google review
The Marblehead Lighthouse is a beautiful spot to visit and definitely worth the trip. There’s a good amount of parking, and it’s just a short walk to the lighthouse. The grounds are well kept, with picnic tables available if you want to pack a lunch or just sit and enjoy the view. It can get busy during the summer days, but the afternoons tend to be less crowded. Bring bug spray if you’re planning to stay a while! I haven’t been inside the lighthouse in years, but you can still enjoy the scenery, the lake breeze, and the history of the area without going in. The museum is nice if you want to learn more.
Darion C — Google review
A wonderful place to visit and walk around; great views of some of the Lake Erie Islands and Cedar Point Amusement Park!
Tina P — Google review
Such a great little area. Clean bathrooms, plenty of parking and plenty of places to sit and enjoy. The flies were a little annoying the weekend we went but it’s still so beautiful here!
Laura C — Google review
Beautiful lighthouse. Great view of Lake Erie. You can see Cedar Point in the distance across the water. Highly recommend 💚💯💯
Kenny G — Google review
Very nice experience, you can climb the lighthouse. Also you can see cedar point from here! It can get busy so I recommend getting here early. So beautiful!
Kerry S — Google review
I really like the park. Nice, quiet and “inviting”; definitely a good place to check out and even just sit down and relax/do some thinking. One of the cleaner spots that I’ve been to on the lake.

Restaurant
Jamestown Tavern in Lakeside Marblehead, OH, is a vibrant destination that attracts visitors throughout the year with its lively atmosphere and diverse offerings. Beyond just delicious food and drinks, this tavern hosts an array of events including live music performances, euchre tournaments, and festive celebrations for holidays like St. Patrick's Day and Cinco de Mayo. Sports enthusiasts can also gather here to cheer on their favorite teams during major sporting events.
I found this place a few years ago and it’s always been one of my favorites They used to have the best wings any place but not so much anymore The wings are sold by six or 12 and that’s fine but their bone in wings are probably the smallest I’ve ever seen now. I don’t know if they changed suppliers or what happened but it’s just ridiculous. And I don’t like it because they were absolutely the best wings I’ve ever had but now they’re not good. And the service is very hit and miss if you go there, sit at the bar don’t sit in the table. Typically they have one bartender and one cook the bartender wakes the tables. And the bartender doesn’t like to wait tables nor does she expect to take your orders.. She expects you to go to the bar to place orders. Like I said. I don’t know what happened to this place. It was on my number one place to go to now it’s not even on the top 25.
Charles H — Google review
Great live music, so it was appropriately crowded. Waited about 10 minutes for service & for a barstool spot. Polite staff. Good bar food - no frills. A nice local hang-out, off the beaten track with "creative" parking when the lot gets full.
Cheri M — Google review
First time to marble head and i was with a friend who had a dog. They said we can have him on patio but one rule you have to bring him into bar and let bar tender see them and say hi as they love dogs. That was awesome and everyone inside loved it. Food was amazing had boscos with cheese and bacon chciken bacon ranch pizza and potato skins all really good. I will be back and waiter and bar staff was friendly and amazing especially with dog

Pool table is in good shape, beer is cold, food is great. Not sure what they could do to make the place any better. Good service too!
Dylan P — Google review
If you haven’t been served by Mikey at Jamestown Tavern, you’re seriously missing out. This guy is the total package — bartender, entertainer, and all-around good vibes master. His drinks? Flawless. Cold High Noons? Always stocked and perfectly chilled. And don’t even get me started on his dance moves — pure energy and fun. He brings the whole place to life with his infectious personality and keeps the good times flowing from behind the bar. Mikey made our night unforgettable — hands down the best part of the Jamestown Tavern experience!
Lisa M — Google review
This Tavern is awesome. Decently priced and well taken care of inside and outside. Keep it up!

Great grub at this local watering hole. Nothing fancy but the service is excellent. Sausage pizza was tasty, with good Italian sausage and crust. We ordered our wings BBQ and well done and they were delicious. We'll be back.

Nestled just a stone's throw from the iconic Marblehead Lighthouse and the picturesque Lake Erie shoreline, Rocky Point Winery is a delightful gem that promises an unforgettable experience. Housed in what was once a school, this charming inn features stunning limestone architecture sourced from the nearby Lakeside Daisy State Nature Preserve. Guests can indulge in local wines, enjoy a full bar with delectable food options, and soak up live music that adds to the vibrant atmosphere.
Awesome stop. Great deal on lunch. Quiet. Peaceful. Lovely back garden. Would definitely recommend if you're in the area for a stop. Out under the trees. It's easy to forget ya gotta go to work.
Nanci B — Google review
The cutest little winery with both covered, sun-ridden, and shaded options to sit! Plenty of wine options, beer, and even cocktails. It looks like there was a small stage setup as well for live music. The staff was friendly & helped us pick a bottle of Peach bubbly that was perfect for a hot summer day! Only thing I wish was that it also had views of the lake, but it's seriously right across the road, so it's also a nice little reprieve from all the water if you're in town for a few days!
Stacie S — Google review
We absolutely love coming here. First of all, we’re big outdoorsy people, and we love the feeling of being immersed in nature while sipping on a drink. This particular winery beautifully combines its downtown Marblehead location with the charm of a hidden gem, surrounded by trees and featuring a large open space in the back. There are Adirondack chairs and fire pits, and they have a gorgeous pavilion adorned with lights. It creates such a cozy and welcoming environment. Recently, we brought a group of friends and family to visit, and they fell in love with it as well. Everyone was incredibly helpful, and the staff was very kind. Everything was impeccably clean, and we enjoyed all of our drinks. We were very pleased with our experience here and will absolutely be back time and time again. I know our friends and family feel the same way.
Hanna F — Google review
Spent the night at the Red Fern Inn, and we had to check out the winery. The main part of the winery is not used in the summer. Instead, they have a patio area behind the main building. The outdoor seating area is roomy, and there is a stage set up for entertainment. They have a nice selection of wines, both dry and sweet, along with a selection of non Rocky Point wines. It was "Taco Tuesday" night, so we also ordered both chicken and beef tacos. They came out fast. They were served with onion, salsa, and jalapeño. Complimentary chips were also provided. Tacos were tasty. This was a relaxing and enjoyable visit.
Steve K — Google review
After wrapping up our vacation at Put In Bay, we explored the mainland and found this gem. I did a wine flight and the Riesling was excellent. My wife got the Bloody Mary, which had a grilled cheese sandwich, olives, and more on top. The atmosphere is very peaceful and the service is excellent.
Brian S — Google review
This is a beautiful space set in Marblehead Ohio offering Wine, Cocktails and Beer options. They have plenty of outdoor and covered seating running the gauntlet from comfy chairs in the lawn to high tops in the pavilion. It’s quaint, it’s quiet, it’s a great spot to stop and enjoy the afternoon. They also have a lot of live music if that’s your thing!

Cedar Point is a vast amusement park featuring an array of water slides, thrilling rides, roller coasters, and entertainment options. The Cedar Point Museum provides an intriguing look into the history of this renowned park, showcasing its evolution from a lakeside resort to a globally recognized entertainment destination. Visitors can explore original roller coaster models and learn about the park's legacy.
Cedar Point is absolutely amazing! The rides are packed with fun and thrills from start to finish it truly lives up to its reputation as the roller coaster capital. We went during Halloweekends, and that took the experience to a whole new level. The park was covered in spooky Halloween décor, with themed attractions and special activities that made the atmosphere even more exciting. Between the coasters, the seasonal events, and everything else the park has to offer, one day just isn’t enough you’ll definitely want more time to experience it all!
Nijanand S — Google review
Absolutely amazing amusement park! The roller coasters here are top notch and from online info they are consistently ranked top in the country! There are also other fun rides like a 300 foot tall swing ride, a gondola down the middle of the park, and a good amount of little kids rides. There is also an indoor arcade area. Any roller coaster enthusiast will love this park, but families will have fun too! The food is also pretty good, with good portions, and the meal plan is definitely worth it!
Matthew Z — Google review
I came this year for hallo weekends. The best day of all was actually Halloween. The crowds were low and we were able to get on all the rides very quickly. A few rides like the millennium we are able to get right back on as soon as we got off. The amount of effort put into decorating the park is amazing. It really does give you a spooky fall natural vibe. The haunted houses are a lot of fun too. The best places to eat in my opinion are the pavilion and the barbecue place. The mixed drinks are way too sugary and not enough alcohol though. I recommend finding a bar that serves liquor and doing a shot. We got tequila shots at the one place in the pioneer village area and they were basically like doubles. If your time is limited it's a busy day you may want to invest in a fast pass. On a busy day you can wait up to 2 hours for some of these roller coasters. I also visited in the summer. The water park there is pretty nice. They have some water slides a lazy river and a nice beach. Cedar point is definitely the premier roller coaster destination in North America. I love the top thrill 2, The Magnum, the millennium, and really most of the other roller coasters there. If you're staying over I recommend sawmill Creek It is a resort like atmosphere there and they have two pools and hot tubs. I haven't stayed at hotel breakers but I have stayed at castaway Bay and I don't like those rooms there. They remind me of prison cells. Overall I definitely recommend visiting cedar point if you never have. It is in a great location near the Lake Erie Islands and a lot of other fun things that you can do.
Scott E — Google review
Absolutely one of the best amusement parks in the world without a question. I try to make it here at least once a year and especially during the Halloween season because I love seeing everything all decked out. Waits for rides can get long, so I definitely recommend fast pass, or packing your patience and something to do in line. If the weather is bad there isn't a ton inside to do which is a bummer.
Eliott S — Google review
I drove 2.5 hours from Michigan to check out Cedar Point’s Halloweekends, and while the event itself was fun, there were definitely some frustrating parts. Parking was chaotic and poorly managed, and the wait times for rides and haunted houses were painfully long. Fast Lane passes were available, but at over $400 for two people, it felt way too expensive just to skip the lines. That said, the rides were awesome once we finally got on — especially at night with the Halloween atmosphere — and the food was actually really good. The park was decked out in spooky decor, with fog, lights, and scare actors creating a great vibe. Overall, it was a fun experience, but between the long drive, rough parking, and high costs, it wasn’t quite as smooth or worth it as I hoped.

This was back in 2023. The season of sun n fun!! Really enjoyed watching my kids have a supersweet summer. Capped off w a hoot...olliesahoot dont yano. Cedar Point Season passholder. Great package. We live hour and a half away. As many times as we came, over 10 it was amazing each time..from the beach...to the saok city slides. Steelvengance to Raptor, this park really puts it together. First time i remember going...i was about 8yrs old..I was 48 in these. Getting some more years in me too..bet..aint that right Ollie
Michael — Google review
Brought my kids to this amusement park for our first visit here and it really did not disappoint. We purchased tickets in advance, which can save some money especially if you go through a third-party seller so be sure to check around for deals. You will have to purchase parking, I purchased preferred which does get you a bit closer to the entrance and comes in handy after a tiring day. I added meal and drink packages to our tickets which also came in handy as you could get drinks every 15 minutes and get meals every 90 minutes. If you are visiting during peak season, I would recommend a fast pass upgrade too as it can cut down your wait times significantly although they do sell single ride fast passes in the app, which I would recommend downloading and using during your visit as well. If you are a roller coaster or thrill ride enthusiast this is the park for you. They have over 20 thrill rides and coasters combined. They also do have rides for children or those seeking less of a thrill. There are also other things the park has like arcades, access to the beach, and even more. There were some rides that were down at times during our visit but they came back on soon enough and we were able to ride. The newer and most popular rides did have wait times that were longer than an hour but there were others that you could ride then get back on immediately after the ride. I did not find any wait too long and during your wait they have shade, fans, mist machines, or a combination of those in line. Overall, our visit was great. We were able to ride many of the top rides during our visit and it was not too crowded so wait times seemed minimal. Great park, with great rides and looking forward to returning for another visit in the future.
Jackie D — Google review
Such an excellent amusement park. Highly recommended for all. Having visiting several different parks across North America, I can say this is the best of the ones I’ve visited. Compared to Disney and Universal in Orlando, the lines are much shorter and prices are more adorable. Pro tip: get a pass allowing you to refill Coca Cola drinks throughout your time in the park. It saves money compared to buying bottled water or paying for each drink. Also, get an all-day dining pass! Get one for every two or three people in your party, because it allows you to get a meal every 90 minutes. If possible, each person can eat once every one and half hour (or y’all can share). Basically, eat a little and go play and eat a little more with the pass. The rides are great. Roller coasters are not for everyone. While the majority of rides are coasters, there are milder rides. The Ferris wheel is among the mildest. There is a milder coaster, as well. The Cedar Creek Mine Ride roller coaster is one that doesn’t make people go upside down.

The Merry-Go-Round Museum, located in the original Sandusky Post Office building, offers a fascinating glimpse into amusement and carousel history. Visitors can marvel at exquisite vintage carousel figures and learn about Dentzel carving tools. The museum features rare pieces such as a Gustav Dentzel deer from 1895, a Charles Looff goat and camel from 1880, and the King Armored horse by Daniel Muller from Cedar Point's Kiddieland carousel.
So I was expecting more but it was still fun! Took my kids to the merry go round museum while on vacation. I always try to go non traditional museums or zoos when we are on a get away. So first we tried to go on a Tuesday but they were closed (google said they were open 😑) so we came back on Wednesday. They open at 11am, we go there a little after. It was almost $40 for a family of 4. You get 1 free ticket for the carousel per person… if you want more rides it’s a $1. When you walk in you can see all kinds of animals from the carousels some are over 100 years old! The volunteers working there are friendly and kind. Another fun thing they have an available is a scavenger hunt. I really recommend doing that, it’s a great excuse to really look at every exhibit and get your moneys worth. Plus if you complete it you get a prize from the gift shop. They also have a little station where people are making new pieces by hand. If your a nerd like me it’s cool to get a glimpse of the process.. Also it’s not advertised well, but this is a 2 for 1 museum. They have a “cedar point” museum inside as well, it’s like a small room and hallway but still cool. Even tho I expected more especially for the price my kids had fun and we spent about a hour and half enjoying ourselves!

This place is amazing! Our daughter loves carousels and this place was incredible. So much history, beautiful horses, and we stayed here for hours. It is very affordable and we would highly recommend. There is a cedar point museum inside as well. We enjoyed it here and will return!

You need to see this fantastic museum. You get to ride a real historic carousel. Beautiful displays so much to see. Wonderful Cedar Point museum inside this museum. You get two museums in one building. Feel like a kid again, bring out some great memories.

Very informative displays and volunteers. Learned a few things I never knew about carousel and the horses/animals. Great display on cedar point as well lots of memorabilia. Best part you get a free carousel ride included with your entry
Mary H — Google review
It was nice to find that there's more to Sandusky than just Cedar Point. This was such an adorable find! While the Carousel museum is comprised of one larger room and a smaller one off the side for the Cedar Point History Museum, there is so much to look at. They have carousel animals and pieces all along the outer area around a rideable carousel in the middle of the room. They'll give you a ride ticket when you enter and extra rides are $1. Take some time and read the information screens and signs they have posted to learn more about the animals you see. The even have a woodworker come in on the weekend that you can watch!
Alice B — Google review
A fun little stop! Has a carousel you can ride and different carvings and some history to look at. There is also a cedar point museum inside full of history of cedar point. We enjoyed this stop, but is not very big so can be a quicker stop.
Tessa — Google review
The nostalgia is alive at the Merry-Go-Round Museum. There is a rideable carousel in the center of the showroom floor and it’s included with admission. The outstanding, varied collection of iconic, bizarre, peculiar, and familiar figures will provide a lot of conversations and laughs with friends and strangers. As soon a you walk through the door, you are greeted with dozens of carousel figures that look like almost every animal imaginable. The front counter resembles a circus tent. The staff is super nice and welcoming. The museum is self-guided with no time limit. Take in every detail of the decades of history around you. You’ll find more than a few curiosities. Since it’s a museum, there are a few displays to help inform you of the long and surprising history of merry-go-rounds. This doubles as a museum for Cedar Point amusement park, which is included with your admission as well. Dozens of glass cases filled with a hundred years of park history. There are shirts, buttons, photos, pins, mugs, and many more items to view. There are banners and old park posters so you can take a visual walk through history. The end of this area is filled with art inspired by the park. Lastly, there is a case dedicated to Sandusky’s own Miss America 1963, Jacquelyn Mayer. Pieces of memorabilia from her big win, news articles, and photos to bring you back to her crowning moment. All-in-all, this was a neat couple of hours. The Merry-Go-Round Museum is exactly what it needs to be. Go for fun, go to learn, or go to realize just how bizarre the makers of carousels can get.
Mappening R — Google review
This place was really cute, and the artistry of the carved animals was beautiful. $10 for adults, $7 for seniors. Entry fee includes a ride on a gorgeous old merry-go-round. It's not for everyone, but if appreciate the place merry-go-rounds hold in American History then you will walk away happy!

If you're looking for a quick getaway, the Kelleys Island Ferry offers an excellent escape just off the shores near Marblehead. This charming ferry service connects you to the beautiful Lake Erie Islands, where relaxation and adventure await. The ride is smooth and scenic, lasting about twenty minutes as you soak in stunning views of the lake. While primarily designed for transporting vehicles, including trucks and cars, passengers can enjoy comfortable seating on an elevated deck or inside a small cabin during their journey.
Visiting Kelly's island was great. I especially loved the ferry ride and all the beaches you could go to and things to see.. we rented a golf cart to drive around the island, plenty of restaurants to go to, and the views where all beautiful. It's best to go there off-season, it's not crowded... You can see surrounding Islands as you travel over on the ferry boat...Just a fun time for everyone...
Country G — Google review
Well run operation got us to Kelleys Island and back. Be aware, there's not many creature comforts for passengers. There are benches on an elevated deck that runs the length of the ship. We had a lovely time sitting up there during the twenty minutes journey. There's also a small interior cabin and there is a restroom. The ferry is really designed for moving cars and trucks and people are allowed to tag along too. We rode to the island smelling an idling concrete truck's diesel exhaust. The cars get packed in right on the deck so it can be tricky to squeeze through to the restroom. But that stuff is OK to put up with for getting to and from the island... What else are you going to do? 🤷‍♂️ Recommend going early. We got back to Marblehead about 11:30 am and the people departure line was very long. I think lots of people were going to be standing on the way to the island.

Very cool local ferry from mainland Ohio to Kelley's Island. The workers were nice and professional and knew what they were doing when piling you into a small ferry. Only negative was the price. You pay per person AND vehicle so it is not a cheap ride.

Lovely quiet island treat. An half hour ferry ride gets you there from Marblehead. Nice variety of restaurants reasonably priced with good food. High a golf cart and do the island all over .

Beautiful and smooth ride as always! Took A chevy 2500 with a 14ft trailer w/ 2 people-cost was $135 they allow you to walk around while ferry is moving. they allow dogs they accept both card and cash payments if you purchase round trip tickets- you need to hold on to them until you return

We went in October so off season. It was a lot of fun. We play mini golf, drank at the Tiki bar. It had lots of games in a fenced bar area so could relax and and have a drink while my kids played the yard games. The Villa eatery and bar had amazing food and great scenary. Also had yard games to entertain kids while waiting for food. The grooves and quarry trail was cool. Papa Ts had the best ice cream.

Families can enjoy a Kids Zone with activities like boat building and games. The museum also hosts special events throughout the year, making it a must-visit destination for those interested in maritime history.
Great museum about Sandusky history. I visited on a Sunday if you are looking for something to do I recommend check it out 😊
Karen — Google review
The interactive museum exhibits were wonderful! We loved trying our hand at tying knots, learning Hands-On about the underground railroad and how the boating industry in Sandusky helped those seeking freedom, learning about how Sandusky was the center of the ice industry before refrigeration, and trying our hand at different communication using flags and Morse code. The staff was so helpful and lovely! This is a hidden gem!

Nice museum focusing on Sandusky's maritime legacy, from the city's mercantile history, the War of 1812, the Underground Railroad and more. Also included is a boathouse with a number of historic watercraft. There are also over 20 model boats for any model enthusiasts!

A great little museum. We were there over labor day weekend and it wasn't crowded at all. They offer a guided tour or the option to go at your own pace. Excellent layout with a lot of displays and info. I especially enjoyed the wooden boat and vintage outboard motor buildings. Definitely worth checking out to learn about the history of Sandusky and the shores of Lake Erie.

Small museum that has a lot of artifacts that are very particular to the area. It has some very interesting artifacts. If you take your time it would be about an hour reading everything. It might appeal more to kids. Definitely a good rainy day excursion.

Johnson's Island is a small piece of land connected to the mainland by the Cedar Point causeway. It has an interesting history as it once housed 9000 Confederate prisoners of war, with over 200 buried in the island's cemetery. The island offers beautiful views and is surrounded by stunning homes and yachts. Situated in Sandusky Bay, it overlooks Cedar Point, making it a quaint and historically significant destination to explore.
We always stop at the POW cemetery to pay our respects.

This island is a wonderful side trip while biking Marblehead. Very peaceful and relaxing that is rich in history. Once was a prisoner of war camp for confederate officers captured during the American Civil War.

Interesting history with Confederate prison and graveyard being held on this island. Who would have known? Beautiful island with spectacular views. All I can say is can I work, or find out at least, where these folks who live here actually work? Sign me up! Beautiful homes and yachts galore!

The renovation to this historical site are phenomenal. Sobering to think of the soldiers in that time period.🇺🇸

It’s a Beautiful little island connected to Johnson Island. Where once there was a confederate POW camp. There’s 206 confederate graves. The cemetery is very well-kept. The headstones are maintained beautifully. There are several signs and monuments telling the history of this POW camp.

The grave yard was very nice. They have a sign posted that says you cannot enter the housing section unless you live there or, you are a guest. So, I in my defiant way would have stated I am looking at buying a house or property if stopped. Glad we went in. There is the coolest rock wall that goes around an island with some of the most beautifull homes. I could only dream. I think this is where the one percent they keep talking about lives. Well maintained homes and yards. One person even has thier own personal cannon. How cool is that?

Marblehead Lighthouse State Park is a picturesque lakeshore park that boasts the historic Marblehead Lighthouse, which has been in operation since 1822 and is the oldest continuously operating lighthouse on the Great Lakes. During summer, visitors can climb the 77 steps to the top of the lighthouse and explore two on-site museums: the Marblehead Lighthouse Historical Society Museum and the Lifesaving Station Museum.
Beautiful free park. Restrooms, good for wheelchair access. picnic tables for bringing a picnic. This is my second time going. The lighthouse was open the first time and its very neat to go in and up all the way to the top. Walking around the park and on the rocks by the water is very nice as well. Clean plenty of trash cans, dog friendly. Fishing friendly as well.

A rather large area with a fantastic lighthouse that you can go up during business hours. There are a couple of other buildings with exhibits to look at too. Plus the amazing views of Lake Erie and Cedar Point.
Tyler S — Google review
What a beautiful, scenic place to visit. Came here with my friend, Brenda on our motorcycles. Lovely in every direction. The comforting sound of waves against the shore, a lovely lighthouse, cerulean blue sky with rolling white clouds. The perfect place to relax.
Sherri P — Google review
This was a beautiful and shaded park right on Lake Erie ... very crowded, though. We visited on the last Sunday in June. The rocks on the shore are large and flat, easy to walk and sit on, and great for hanging out and taking pics.
Paige C — Google review
It has become a yearly tradition for me to visit the place. Still feels great. They have done a great job cleaning up the place, creating a restroom, gift shop, etc. I wish they had an ice cream place or a light snack place. Still an awesome place.
Saidul I — Google review
The views from the top of the lighthouse are good, but not life changing great. For a mere $3 it’s worth going up. There’s also a gift shop, a limestone quarry exhibit, a video/theater room, and a museum. Honestly, I thought the museum was the best, there’s some really interesting information in there. Also, the views of Lake Erie are great even from the ground level.
Thirteendays — Google review
It was evening when we visited so it wasn't very busy, and the lighthouse wasn't open at that time which didn't really matter to us. It's always such a beautiful and peaceful spot to enjoy the views and lake breeze. The grounds and parking lot were clean except for a bit of litter(obviously not their fault, just rude, lazy people), we did not check our the restrooms but were impressed by the new building facility that was put up since our last visit.

Enjoyed the friendly volunteers, clean grounds, plenty of parking, spectacular view from top of the lighthouse. The factful history presentation before our lighthouse tour provided details of lighthouse and volunteers that make this available. We had picnic and enjoyed the historic Coast Guard presentation and restored boat also. Clean refurbished restrooms and inclosed rest area.

We took our 10 month old puppy to the designated dog beach here so he could see big water for the first time and do a little hike. The trail to the dog beach wasn’t far, and was easy enough, although it could be signed a bit better. Our dog loved all the new sights and smells! The beach is natural and has sticks/seaweed as one would expect, but it appears everyone has done a good job packing out their dog’s waste and any trash. I was pleasantly surprised to find that. There were two little huts on the beach to check out and the length of beach is decent. We didn’t walk the entire length of it. While our pup didn’t swim and only walked in the water, there is plenty of room if your dog wants to swim. I’m not sure about the currents here, so keep an eye on that if yours does. We were here in the evening around sunset or just before so it was pretty peaceful and we barely saw anyone else. Any other dogs we did see were leashed and respectful. The views and scenery were about as good as you can get in this part of Ohio. We will definitely make the hour long trip back for more adventures with our dog. The water was MUCH cleaner than what you find around Maumee Bay too, there was an algae bloom issue reported there at this same time, which is why we came here instead. The water tests here were reported clean and looked normal during our visit.
Rachel M — Google review
Wonderful. I stayed only one night but was very impressed. Check in was easy. Many conveniences here and lots to do in the surrounding area. The only negative was the restrooms. I was only in one and there are more in each section. They are a little small and not quite what I would call clean. I don't blame the park for that. There are other options. I can't wait to camp here again.
Dan C — Google review
Clean, quiet, and great location. It’s only a short trip to catch a ferry to put-in-bay or Kelly’s island. The showers had awesome water pressure and were clean. I will definitely return for another stay!

The beach was clear and shallow out to about 100 yards the slowly gets deeper to about 6’ at the buoys. White sand beach and the bottom is all white sand. It was beautiful and a walk out to the pier was wonderful.

Quiet stay when we were here in late Sept before their annual Halloween event and after the summer crowds. We enjoyed our time here. It’s a great camping point to see the area attractions. We called to be sure we could arrive late then we reserved online and arrived late. We went to the store the next morning to check in

I was looking for a place to swim in Lake Erie and I’m happy to say East Harbor State Park was a great place to swim, and relax on the beach. They have restrooms, place to change, and an area to wash the sand off your feet, etc. In August, the water temperature was perfect and so refreshing. My family and I enjoyed it!

The best place to stay while in the area. This was our second time staying at the Red Fern. We stayed in the Kelly's Island room, which was appropriate since we were headed to Kelly's Island the next day. The room was immaculately clean. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are decorated nicely with a nautical theme. The Inn was an elementary school, and they did a great job of converting it into an inn. It's very roomy and has everything you need for a pleasant stay. You are close to the shops and restaurants in Marblehead, and probably the best thing is the lower half is a winery. Also, the Kelly's Island ferry is located about 5 minutes away. Forgot to mention, you get a complimentary bottle of wine with your stay.

3rd time staying here. Rooms are lovely, include a seating area as well as small kitchen. Even though on a fairly busy road and the winery downstairs the rooms are quiet. Be sure and take a few minutes to walk up to the crows nest . . . great views of the lake and islands.

My husband and I have been to the winery on many occasions! We keep a boat in the area and frequent the winery several times a summer. This was our first stay and we absolutely LOVED it! We rented the Lakeside room this past Easter weekend. So clean, the quality of everything from bed linens, towels, the wonderful kitchen and the gas fireplace! We will be back for sure. I have two couples already booked for August this year! Thank you for a really nice stay.

Conveniently located near the ferry to Kelly’s Island. Staff were very kind and friendly. They are happy to take your bags up or down (no elevator) and it’s easy assess in and out with the key codes. The landing had a coffee area and books for lending - giving a cozy feel to the place. The little restaurant area out back is cute. Our room was on the second floor and was spacious and had a kitchen also. Plenty of room for a family. We could hear the people outside - coming and going but things quite down early there so wasn’t an issue. We could hear the person in the room above walking around, that got us up early… Was a nice place but was a little pricey.

Just rented Lakeside room for 2 nights, really clean, and a lot of nice details in the realization. We did not used much but there is a full kitchen with appliance like new. Gas fireplace heat really fast and add to the ambiance. Coffee, wine, water... all is waiting for you. Place is quiet, do not hear cars or other. Sunday and Monday night, we did not really enjoyed winery ambiance, just tried the flight and we were alone, but place is cool. We will be back.

Wide enough for bikes and strollers or pets etc. Plenty of benches along the way if you need a rest and a nice overlook area of the water.

This preserve is very pretty and teeming with life. I saw at least four bald eagles here. You will want to look across the marsh into the trees. If you see a large bird you will want to zoom in with an electronic device. In one of my videos, I zoomed in where I saw them today. Also, blackbirds, rabbits, woodpeckers, squirrels, muskrats, egrets, geese, mallards, and so much more live here.
Thirteendays — Google review
We stopped by Meadowbrook Marsh later in the afternoon during the Biggest Week in American Birding, thinking we'd just take a quick peek and rest our feet after a long day of hiking. But wow — were we wrong (in the best way)! Before we even left the parking lot, we were surrounded by warblers! Cape May, Blackburnian — you name it. The action was non-stop. The trails are peaceful and well-maintained, and the timing couldn’t have been more perfect. The golden evening light lit up the trees, drew out the bugs, and the warblers were dancing from branch to branch like it was a private show just for us. This turned out to be one of our favorite stops of the day — totally unexpected and absolutely magical. Meadowbrook Marsh is officially on the must-visit list for next year!

With designated areas for small dogs under 30 pounds and larger breeds over 30 pounds, it ensures a safe environment for all sizes. Fresh water is readily available, along with a kiddie pool on the larger side to help keep your pets cool during those hot summer days.
Nice open space for pups to burn off some energy. There is two separate areas one for under 30lbs and one for over 30lbs. Fresh water and a kiddie pool on the larger side. There are several tables and one under a shelter. I would definitely recommend this park

This part is absolutely unacceptable. There is so much poop. It looks like it's the mud or dirt, and it's obviously not cleaned up. And there are no stations available offering bags for promoting pick up, i don't even recall if there were garbages for the people who brought their own bags. So my first time taking my dog and my puppies to the park, I got poop all over my seats all over myself, stuck in my shoes it was disgusting. Absolutely unacceptable for a public park. But at that point, I'll never go back. It's absolutely disgusting.

Large separate areas for large and small dogs. Places for locals to put in plastic shopping bags to use for waste cleanup. Fresh water sources for dogs. Trees planted which will eventually offer more shade. Small picnic table pavilions for dog parents to sit on in each side. Highly recommended

First time here, our Bella had a blast! She doesn't get to run much where we live, so needless to say, she was Excited!! The park is clean, with places for pet owners to sit and watch the dogs play. Definitely our new hang out!!

Great dog park. Tons of space for the dogs to play. Very green. Grass is cut and nice and clean. Two different spots, one for large dogs, and one for small dogs.

This is a great place for your dogs to enjoy. They have water and a little pool too. Plenty of places for their people to sit.

It's a great park with lots of running room . The grass was groomed nicely. No poop. Water available. A few benches. Loses 1 star because there is no shade at all, and after running around for a bit in the July heat, the only shade the pups could fi d was beside a trash barrel. Other than that, great stop!

This is a nice dog park for dogs to get a good run. It's also a nice place to meet new people.

Have owned here since 1993. There's no where else that I would want to spend my summer and fall. FANTASTIC ownership and the other tenants are like family. JPW

So you take down your lowest ratings because you think they are spam? Every campground I have ever stayed at has quiet hours, yours apparently does not. No one needs to hear people howling and attempting to sing Journey songs at midnight. Have some respect for others. And I'm not even staying at your property, I'm several blocks away, but I can tell that is where the racket is coming from.
