The Maine Maritime Museum in Bath offers a captivating experience for visitors of all ages, with 10 acres of galleries and 25 acres of waterfront. The museum preserves the area's rich shipbuilding tradition through hands-on exhibits, paintings, and models that span 400 years of seafaring history. Visitors can explore a working wooden-boat shipyard and learn about maritime artifacts dating back over four centuries. The museum also offers educational programs, lighthouse tours, and nature tours.
Took a cruise to view the Kennebec River lights, Fort Popham, Sequin Light, and all the water in-between. Lovely trip; friendly, knowledgeable crew. Toured the museum grounds before the cruise, which are well worth visiting of themselves. Will be returning.
Sharon L — Google review
This place was very neat! We stopped here on out way up the coast of Maine. They offer many different boat tours of the river too. We did the lighthouse sites one and were able to see 6 lighthouses on a 2 hour tour. It was beautiful. While out on the water we got to see some bald eagles, a bald eagle nest, some seals and or course many other forms or wild life. It was well worth the cost, and it really wasn't even exspensive! It also got us free entrance into the museum too. When we return to ME, we plan to stop here again!
Sabrena — Google review
Very nice with knowledgeable guides. We bought the full package; museum tour, trolley ride and boat ride. Facilities are nice, staff friendly and seeing the warships was great. The tour of Bath and the town's ship building history was okay. The river tour was not special but the guide had entertaining stories. I went to see the ships which are an impressive feat of manufacturing. These are war machines. Five ships in process in Oct 2025. Cool. So why not five stars? Can't get into the facility, can't get close to the ships. Yes, I understand it's a real factory. Safety, efficiency and secrecy are the priorities. Got it. The view from the river was good, and the narration was strong. I recommend it. But it won't get five stars until you get inside.
Jim O — Google review
We are museum lovers and had a great time visiting this museum. It was very kid friendly, surprisingly so for a museum not explicitly created for kids. It was also super interesting and felt worth the entry price. If we are ever back in Maine we will have to check it out again!
Rebekah H — Google review
Such a cool museum. The campus is expansive and covers info on ship building. I really liked the buildings to the west with the blacksmith and boat builders working. The Wyoming monument is also incredible!
Jack V — Google review
Excellent. I recommend anyone who has any sense of history visit this exhibition. Also the boat tour is really worth the money. Well run organization! Highly recommend
DOC S — Google review
Great museum. Continuous and term displays are well done, interesting, easy to consume. Loved the "Up T' Camp" display. The Bath Iron Works video is OK. Just makes 5 stars.
J F — Google review
This was a cool place to see. Unfortunately tbey close the outdoor displays at 4 and we got there too late to see them. The main building still had some good exhibits but make sure you get there well before 4 to see the whole thing. Going in the off season was nice as the tickets were very affordable.

Theaters
The Chocolate Church Arts Center, located in Bath, is a historic church transformed into a vibrant performing arts center and gallery. It hosts diverse programs for all ages and showcases local musicians and artists. The venue also sponsors free summer concerts. Visitors appreciate the beautiful setting but recommend avoiding front row seats due to potential obstructed views. The intimate black box set annex provides a unique experience for performances like "Plaza Suite." Guests admire the stunning architecture of the building and find the staff friendly and accommodating.
This is the most amazing all-year round musical venue in the midcoast area! The new director Matt Glassman has turned the place around - offering shows for all ages & cultural tastes! He is a marvelous addition to this historical place in our area, bringing in musicians from all over who had not appeared here in the past, along with old faithfuls.
Jean — Google review
This is a grand Art Center steeped in Nautical history. Its community support and entertainment is something to be admired. It was worth the trip to Bath.
Tracy S — Google review
What a great small venue for a live show. I saw The Ultimate Doors there. The sound was great. The venue was probably 1000 max. Lots of seating on the floor and balcony. Great views from everywhere.
Dale J — Google review
This place is a GEM!!! We saw a show in the smaller annex space, so I can only comment on that room and not the larger venue. We drove up from Rhode Island because one of our favorite musicians was playing a show here, and we had no idea what to expect. What we found was an intimate lower level room with about 50 seats. I was thrilled about this since we got to be up close and personal with some amazing artists! The vibe could not have been sweeter. The director introduced the show with coffee mug in hand. The snack bar served cookies and fresh popcorn. The very young theatre kids hung out throughout the show and helped sell waters and sodas. The acoustics of the room were AMAZING and the director opened up the doors so that we could enjoy the sea breeze. I've seen both artists multiple times, and they've never sounded better. The space is absolutely soaked in love and you can feel it. I couldn't stop smiling. Director Matt and his crew have something really really special going on here. Check them out, support them, get on their list. Maine is so lucky to have this beautiful place.
Juliana O — Google review
This place is amazing. Beautiful architecture, but it's what their contributing to the community that is so impressive. An art center that is globally connected for children and adults. They use the arts to bring the community together and to get children involved and engaged. It was so heart warming to be welcomed in and given a tour as 'unknowns'. The spirit of openess artistic endeavors with Loving goals needs to be seen, shared and supported. Awe inspiring.
Lissa P — Google review
I just saw the Ultimate doors there, and it was a great experience. And the staff were very nice.

This really is Pemiquid Point. One of my favorite places on earth. Views of surf, wildlife, rocks and of course the lighthouse is incredible. As with anything worthwhile, the drive is not short. Many improvements to the location have been made over the years.
Shaun J — Google review
I have only been out to the island once but I always like to look at it from the beach. My great great great grandfather Edwin M. Wyman was the assistant lighthouse keeper from 1886-1889!
Jessica D — Google review
House is open to go throw. I found after research that the first helper to the lighthouse keeper was a Pushard from Dresden Maine. One of my Ancestors

Had been there many years ago. Was one of the eatly Friends of Sequin. It is nice to see the lighthouse is still as magistic.

This was such an interesting step back in time; we visited in August 2022. There was even a model of the 1607 Fort St. George created by a 12yo student - fascinating! We toured the small wooden building and reviewed a model of the Virginia that was "in for repairs." Another boat was at the dock on the water and getting ready.
Jim M — Google review
Cool place to visit. They were closed when we were driving through the area, so we just took some photos of the ship. It was nice to see history. I would suggest not driving in the area if you are towing a camper/trailer. There is nowhere to park and it is hard to get back out to the main road.
Kate J — Google review
Love this! Such an under-appreciated era of Maine and US history. Love the living-history of a working historical ship, built in the same manner as in 1600. Fun and knowledgeable volunteers, a very worthwhile stop. Great video lectures on their website too!
Christopher S — Google review
I have never bbeen on the first ship,I do however walk down to see it evert morning. It's so pretty sitting down by the bridge.
Julie — Google review
Zane loves to stop in and see what is going on. Today was some varnishing pieces of Virginia and we learned how the cylinder shape is formed/made. Always a friendly and comfortable atmosphere. The views on the back deck are fantastic too.
Tammy W — Google review
Very cool seeing the ship and learning about those who built it as well as the history of ship building.
Kim H — Google review
Unexpected surprise stop on the way up the coastal highway. Very knowledgeable volunteers, lots of history, and amazing to see the rebuild of the boat in progress! And they had a restroom which many boondoggle stops don’t have. We parked by the Elks Lodge for a fun photo op.
Stacy W — Google review
Awesome historians on-site reliving history and making wooden boats. Walk on the deck of The Virginia, a replica of perfection. Great day!!

Absolutely glorious! Huge park just down the street from Bath Ironworks. Easy to get to, plenty of parking and big enough for dogs to not feel crowded. The owners are nice and they interact with their dogs and other people. Nice mix of grass and some trees. Lovely pier with seating to watch the boats and the water.
Ce G — Google review
About an acre of manicured grass with a pen and water fountain for dogs. Right on the water next to BIW. Its a beautiful place and the dog owners were all very respectable of their animals and cleaned up after them. Bath is lucky to have this little slice of heaven ❤️🐕 And how awesome they have a huge nest of big birds on top of the light pole
Renee F — Google review
It's a lucky dog that gets to go to this outstanding outdoor park! It features a wide dock into the Kennebec River with lots of benches to sit on, a dirt trail all the way around for strolling, many benches to relax on, and plenty of water. There are also poop bags and disposal cans for your convenience. Plenty of parking, porta-johns and even an Osprey nest! The wide open area offers plenty of space for ball and Frisbee chasing, running, playing and, in general, just be a dog. The only thing missing here is shade, so be sure to bring a hat and sunglasses. If you bring treats in your pocket, be prepared to be jumped on! Enjoy!!
Lindsey H — Google review
HUGE grassed park. Right on the water, with a dock/deck on one side and water access on the other. People and dogs were super friendly and welcoming. Water bubbler located near the front of the park. Trash and bags are on the fences.
Kindred W — Google review
Large dog park beautiful dock with bench overlooking the kennebec river and a view of Bath Iron works.
Sam D — Google review
So beautiful and well maintained. Can't beat that view of the water and dock with views of the ships being worked on and the sculptures at the Maritime Museum. Is this the best dog park ever?!
KariLyn M — Google review
Biggest dog park I have ever been to. Along a rocky shore...Plenty of room for the dogs to run around.
Mary V — Google review
Best dog park in Maine. Huge field and borders the river so your dog can take a swim to cool off. Friendly people and their pets. All sizes welcome. Doggie poop bags, water fountain, benches, human bathroom and a great view all available. 💖

Linwood E. Temple Waterfront Park is a delightful oasis located just a short stroll from downtown Bath, offering visitors breathtaking views of the Kennebec River and its historic bridges. This scenic park features well-maintained walking trails that invite leisurely strolls, making it an ideal destination for reading, fishing, or simply enjoying time with your furry friends. Families will appreciate the covered picnic area equipped with tables and Adirondack chairs perfect for unwinding while soaking in the tranquil sounds of nature.
What a beautiful area in Bath, Maine. The park is very clean, plenty of free parking. They have bathrooms. We met a lot of families there with kids and pets. We went to the farmers ' market well worth the drive. So many vendors everything from vegetables to meat poultry and fresh seafood😋. The vendors were very welcoming and friendly. We turned it into a day trip to visit this very historical city. It's beautiful right near the coast 😍. It's well worth the drive to visit the farmers market and this beautiful city.
Ana O — Google review
Beautiful spot along the Kennebec River watching the boat traffic. And the Virginia (a replica of the first English ocean-going ship built in the Americas) was impressive.
Shawn G — Google review
October of last year, I drove all the way from New York (with a stopover in Newport, RI) to see this place which they said is beautiful during Fall Foliage. And they were right! The place was stunning! I stayed there for an hour just gazing at this beautiful place.
Rommel L — Google review
Great little park with public docks, plenty of benches/chairs, shady and exposed areas, and nice restrooms. Very uplifted and well-maintained public space. People seem to come here to hang out or eat lunch, even when it's chilly! Definitely worth a stop-by if you are walking around town.
Paddy M — Google review
Wonderful Farmers market on a Saturday morning. Outstanding fresh vegetables from local farmers, an Italian lady who makes cakes and pasta, seafood stand, lots of breads and pastries, delicious local cheese (the ragged island is heavenly with local apples from the Apple orchard also at the market! Honey crisp apples).
Judy H — Google review
I have many fond memories of bath, but this seems to be a focal point for many of them. Incredible view of the bridge. Nice little spot to eat aswell.

Library Park is a charming, petite park situated near the library in a picturesque small town. It features a delightful pond and an exquisite gazebo where visitors can enjoy weekly summer concerts or participate in various events such as craft shows during Heritage Days and spring plant sales. This lovely park offers plenty of opportunities for picnicking on the grassy lawn or relaxing on one of the scattered benches. Children can explore and play freely while taking advantage of the paved paths that encompass the area.
Beautiful, small town park with pond and gazebo. Plenty of places to picnic (no tables, but a few benches), for children to explore and run around, or to walk the paved paths that surround the library. The park is the home of the Zorach Sculpture Spirit of the Sea Fountain. Many events are held in this park, including a craft show during Heritage Days, weekly summer concerts in the gazebo, spring plant sale, and many children's activities.
Cynthia E — Google review
It's a great park to go and relax. A covered gazebo offers shelter from rain and sun and is a place where children love to run around. With grassy fields and a frog pond, it is a fun place to relax and spend some time outside.
Josh A — Google review
A large, lovely library on a beautiful piece of land near the water. There is a large room dedicated to the kids. There are computers and printers that are free to use. The staff is very friendly and helpful too!

Park
The Thorne Head Preserve Trail Head offers a plethora of picturesque paths, interweaving and creating an exciting adventure. One trail leads to a stunning vantage point, while another follows the tranquil water's edge. Numerous small bridges facilitate crossing muddy areas. Although the rocky water may deter bringing dogs for fear of injury, the opportunity to witness and inhale the ocean is splendid. The Narrows trail provides captivating shoreline views, with impeccable maintenance and clear markings on its mostly level terrain.
Video from the painted mushroom rock - Very cool place! Great view! The overlook just before it, I forget the name, but the one with the rocks and a little cavern is steep. My dog jumped up and I had him on a harness so I pulled him back (why he is tied up here) This one you know you can see where it slopes off. Beautiful!
Kelsey B — Google review
Beautiful walk through the woods. I took the overlook trail to the narrows trails which has some great viewpoints of the Kennebec River.
Sheep D — Google review
Very beautiful trails! There are a ton of winding trails in and out of each other that made it a really fun adventure. One trail takes you to a beautiful overlook and then another takes you right along the waters edge. Lots of small bridges to cross mucky areas. I wish the water wasn't so rocky, I didn't want to bring the dogs down for fear they would get hurt. But it was wonderful just to see and smell the ocean!
Emily K — Google review
This is a quiet place to see the beauty of Maine! Most of the times I have been here (late afternoon) I have been the only car in the parking lot. It is peaceful and has some really great benches for taking in the views. The trail markings are intuitive and color coded providing for a great experience even when hiking an unfamiliar trail. I'm planning to make this a regular stop everytime I'm in Bath!
Patrick M — Google review
A hidden gem at the north end of Bath. There are some paths or trails that have a little elevation, but mostly it's a beautiful walk in the woods. We will be going back to try a new trail next weekend 😊
Erik Q — Google review
We walked the Narrows trail, which followed the shoreline much of the way, and provided some beautiful views. The trail was very well maintained and marked, and pretty flat. We’ll definitely be back to see some of the other trails soon.
Chris S — Google review
The trails were well marked and clean. The views were gorgeous. It is dog friendly. My 3yo and 4yo did all but the last 2/10 of a mile- so it is not extremely difficult.
