Muddy River Distillery, located at 1500 River Drive #100, Belmont NC 28012, offers a variety of Carolina rums including Silver Carolina Rum, Queen Charlottes Reserve, Coconut Carolina Rum, and Spiced Carolina Rum. Visitors can enjoy short tours (30 minutes) or long tours (1 hour and 15 minutes) for $8 without the need for reservations. The distillery is known for its friendly and knowledgeable staff as well as its delicious and reasonably priced products.
Everything about this place was amazing! The sweet girl at the front desk was so friendly and welcoming. The bartenders were amazing! But nothing tops their Banana Rum! Amazing!!! The tour was interesting and the guy knew his stuff! Will definitely be back!

We recently made a stop at Muddy River Distillery in Mount Holly, NC, after hearing about their unique rum offerings. While the distillery exudes a charming, rustic vibe and the staff were welcoming, our experience was a bit of a mixed bag. Tasting Experience: We were a bit disappointed to learn that tastings are only offered during their Saturday tours, which run from 1:00 PM to 3:15 PM . This wasn’t clear to us beforehand, and we had hoped for a more flexible tasting schedule. However, the bartender was kind enough to offer us a flight to share, which we appreciated. Standout Spirits: The highlight of our visit was the Banana Liqueur. Its sweet, tropical flavor was a delightful surprise, and we ended up purchasing a couple of bottles to take home. The other rums we sampled were decent, but none stood out as exceptional. Atmosphere: The distillery itself is beautifully set in a historic mill, offering a cozy and inviting atmosphere. However, during our visit, the place was quite empty, which might have been due to the early hour. Final Thoughts: While our experience had its ups and downs, the friendly staff and the standout Banana Liqueur made the visit worthwhile. If you’re planning a trip, consider going on a Saturday to take full advantage of the tastings and tours.

We visited this place last Saturday and were very happy. Easy parking, we were greeted, welcomed by a lovely who was checking if it’s our first time. The distillery is quite big, with entrance, the bar to the right, the left is the gift section with T-shirts, many different prices for the rum, and far left was the place with many rustic style tables for ppl to sit and have food. We had the warm Old Fashion Rum and the Pretzel with melted cheese as snack, both were excellent. We went out to the backyard to see the Muddy River and saw that a band was preparing to play at 4pm. We truly enjoyed our time and highly recommend!

I will give this place another try but for my first experience I was not happy. We walked in there on a weeknight , first time ever going and expected a much better experience. We were not greeted as we stood there looking super confused waiting to be seated for about 15 minutes. The bartender was cleaning a table and walking around. She even took several sips of her Starbucks and was texting on her phone. We had a toddler with us so we didn’t sit at the bar which is what we would’ve done had we not had the toddler. So we started to walk around and she finally said sit anywhere. So we finally sat down. Looked at the menu and looked around for another 10 minutes. Finally a customer at the bar told us to order at the bar. It would’ve been nice had she greeted us when we walked in and said sit anywhere, order at the bar when ready. OR they could have a sign up. You can’t assume everyone knows how the place operates if it’s the first time. I will try it again and hope for a better experience. Also the fish dish was super salty, would not recommend.

Fun day at the distillery! Aside from the intense summer heat and the weird pirate lady who licked my friend’s hand, we had a fabulous day visiting this beautiful distillery! Just a 5 and a half hour walk or a 33 minute drive, whichever you prefer, from the booming metropolis of Charlotte, NC, Muddy River Distillery is the alcoholic watering hole I’ve always dreamt of. My favorite drinks of the day were their rum old fashioned and their fresh tasty drink called the painkiller. When I watched the bartender grate fresh nutmeg onto the painkiller I was already drooling. When I tasted it, I knew I was in trouble. They call me “two drink Sally” so coming here posed a problem because I definitely wanted more and absolutely can’t handle the fire they bring. If you are looking for a zen scenic place to listen to pretty dang entertaining live music in the grass by the river, while snarfing up some cheesy loaded tots and a wood fired pizza, then grab your bug spray and camping chair and hit the road, you Charlatans. I mean Charlotteonians. And happy drinking. Hopefully you can handle it.

I showed up today on a whim for the first time and had an amazing experience! They had very unique flavors of spirits, the staff was friendly. Jordan was very helpful at helping me decide on a flavor! The building is beautiful, clean, historic, and nicely air conditioned. I will gladly continue to support this place and their brand!
Kevin M — Google review
The flights are tasty and reasonably priced. There is a fair amount of variation in the flavors with some like the spiced and the navy being universal favorites while the basil was maybe a bit to unique for our tastes. Definitely worth stopping by to try what they have!
Heather C — Google review
If you're looking for a chill spot with awesome drinks and a cool vibe, this place is a must-visit! They've transformed an old cotton mill into a unique and welcoming space that perfectly blends rustic charm with modern distillery vibes. The selection at Muddy River is impressive. The Basil Rum is a popular choice—made with real basil! For something more classic, the aged rum, Queen Charlotte's Reserve, is smooth and full of flavor. They also offer specialty cocktails, like my favorite: the Smoked Coffee Old Fashioned. The staff is friendly and happy to chat about the rum-making process. Tours are available, and if you return your shot glass, you get free tastings on future visits! There's even a patio overlooking the creek—perfect for relaxing and enjoying the scenery. Whether you're here for a tasting, cocktails with friends, or just to explore the historic setting, it's a genuinely enjoyable experience. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. You won't be disappointed!

Park
Stowe Park is a charming downtown park in the heart of the city, offering a variety of amenities for visitors to enjoy. The park features a large playground for kids, a scenic walking loop, and hosts seasonal events throughout the year. With well-maintained landscaped gardens, picnic tables, and plenty of shade, it's an ideal spot for families to relax and have a picnic.
Visited Stowe Park during Garibaldi Fest and had such a great experience! The park was full of life with live music, food trucks, and local artists showcasing their work—many of the pieces were available for purchase, which made it feel like a true celebration of community and creativity. The grounds themselves are beautiful and well cared for, with plenty of shade, open green space, and a charming atmosphere that fits perfectly with the rest of downtown Belmont. It’s a wonderful spot for events or just a relaxing day outdoors. Can’t wait to come back!
Alex H — Google review
Very quiet place to play with your kids, there are so many squirrels, besides the place had very clean restrooms, maybe need more games for the kids
Erick Q — Google review
We had a blast watching the fireworks, and my kids played on the playground at the park. We listened to music as well. Many people were there enjoying their holiday with family and friends. I hope to go back again soon to let the kids play. I would recommend this park to anyone with kids it is a great place.

Beautiful family friendly park right in the middle of downtown Belmont! Decorated so cute for Christmas, we loved walking through!
Myo O — Google review
Very fun playground, plenty of green space to walk around in. We visited during the Christmas tree contest which was a welcome surprise! The main attraction was the squirrels, though. I've lived in a squirrel-infested neighborhood for years and have never seen a volume of squirrels this high. I'm serious. We counted at least 15 in our brief walk. And they're FAT! it was absolutely hilarious seeing the sheer magnitude of the squirrel population here. Def recommend paying a visit.
Whitney S — Google review
A beautiful little spot right in Main Street area. Cool fountain. Nice playground for the kiddos and a walking path along the way to just walk around and enjoy the area. Highly recommend.
Just L — Google review
We enjoyed our walk to an event in the park. Its fairly small with a playground, benches, paved paths that are wheelchair friendly. A few entry points have fairly sharp inclines for self guided wheelchairs to navigate though. Well shaded by large mature trees. Near downtown.
Mike G — Google review
Lovely park with a big playground on rubberized flooring. Cute little loop trails (not really walking trails so don’t come here to hike) and you can walk downtown Belmont a few hundred feet away. Great for a lovely outing with smaller kids. Tons of squirrels to watch

Restaurant
The southern restaurant Nellie's Southern Kitchen is a family-owned and operated restaurant located in Charlotte, North Carolina that features classic southern dishes with a modern flair. The venue is charming and perfect for an evening out with friends. The fried green tomatoes were some of the best I've ever had.
Had an absolutely amazing time here. The food was delicious, the mixed bar drinks were bar none, and the weather couldn’t have been better! They had live music up at the terrace. This place is highly recommended, if you are in Belmont. Both bartenders were amazingly attentive and I enjoyed talking with them.
H. I — Google review
Wanted a place outside our normal haunts. Was not disappointed. Fried okra appetizer was amazing. We both had the fried catfish. Easy to prepare it bad, they decided to take the more difficult route and make it delicious. Prices may seem high, but portions are generous. Leave room for desert though. We had the hot brownie with ice cream scoop. That with a cup of coffee was a nice finish.
David N — Google review
I like to mention it when service is outstanding; so our recent trip to Nellie’s was a great place to give a shout out. First the menu had great options including gluten free which was a great surprise. Its roots are in southern cooking especially great chicken dishes. My friend had fried chicken on a bed of mashed potatoes with collard greens. I had chicken and dumplings with collards. By the way the collards were fresh and well seasoned — just delicious. But the service was really outstanding. Our waitress Haylie was kind and cheerful. The manager and other waitresses also helped out— delivering water, food and taking away plates as needed. They made certain to check on us multiple times. I felt cared for and the meal was a great comfort food experience. The biscuits were amazing of course. I’ll be back and I’ll try some of their signature cocktails when they have live music in house.

Nellie’s Southern Kitchen blew me away! The service was absolutely top-notch—friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming from start to finish. The food was amazing, full of rich Southern flavor, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. A fantastic experience all around. Can’t wait to go back!
Debra Z — Google review
Absolutely love this place. Atmosphere is awesome, the wait staff was great and very attentive, and the food is so delicious. They even had a musician playing live during brunch.. he did a great job! Will definitely be back for dinner… I believe they have a different menu for that time.
Yellafella1275 — Google review
Delicious southern comfort food and excellent service! We had the chicken dumplings, Nashville hot chicken sandwich, fried chicken and chicken and waffles and everyone was happy with their plate. Our daughter got some crayons and a highchair and everyone was very welcoming and friendly. We got a refill of our drinks without even asking. Love the atmosphere and the service was great. We had no reservation at 4pm and got a table right away. Free parking available.
Vanessa — Google review
Everything was excellent: staff was great, the general manager came to table first, introduced herself and gave a lil history of Ms. Nellie and family (this was our 1st time), decore unique, prices not expensive, food was delicious. My niece and I ordered a few things to taste. I don't eat cheese but niece had the mac n cheese. She did say it could use a lil more seasoning but other than that Everything else was good. The salmon and shrimp were my fave.
Jaime G — Google review
Loved eating here! The fried green tomatoes were amazing and I just about licked the remoulade off the plate. The grilled chicken sandwich was just average. There was no sauce/dressing so it was a dry. I also wasn’t a big fan of the thick-cut red onion on it — too overpowering. My mom said her catfish (not pictured) was very good, mild in flavor, and well seasoned. Waiter James did an excellent job, was attentive and gave good recommendations. The live guitar music was a nice touch (would have been nicer if it were the Jonas Brothers, ha)

Shopping Malls
The Catawba River Antique Mall is not your typical shopping center. Housed in a 109-year-old mill, this 6,000 square meter space features high ceilings, pine columns, and maple hardwood floors. With over 300 vendor booths offering a wide array of antiques and collectibles, visitors can easily lose track of time while exploring the treasures on display.
This antique mall is a real gem! It's in a HUGE old mill building, and they have a wide variety of vendors. And unlike many antique malls, this one is clean, bright, and has wide aisles. I have found so many great vintage treasures here over the past few years and always love to spend a few hours checking out every nook and cranny in the booths. The owner, staff, and vendors are warm and welcoming, and you can tell they enjoy working together. They have old fashion candy in the lobby and are now serving ice cream in the newly expanded area in the back. The mall is only a half a mile from Belmont’s downtown Main St, which is such a charming area to spend the day. Highly recommend checking out Catawba River! Worth the very short drive from Charlotte.
Katherine L — Google review
I absolutely LOVE their new Christmas rooms!!! Tons of Christmas things to choose from. The aesthetic got me in the mood for shopping! We have been here many times and it has always been a great experience. It took us almost 2 hours to get through it all because there is so many booths with tons of things to look at. The staff is super friendly and helpful!!
Jennifer D — Google review
I just want to say thank you to the wonderful young lady that sold me her “Cola” painting! It is now in my bedroom facing the ocean! 🌊 I cannot wait to come back and visit!
Garrett S — Google review
This was my first visit here and I have to say that I will 100% be back soon! The antique mall is huge and it literally has a little bit of everything! My daughter found some knives and saddle shoes, I found some import vinyl records that I'd been looking for, a cool vintage jacket, and a see-through rotary phone and everything was reasonably priced! I didn't even get all the way through the mall before everyone got tired of walking and we had to leave! I usually go to Gibson Mill but now I have a new favorite antique mall!
Monica N — Google review
Huge antique mall with many great booths! Lots of unique finds and actual antiques, not just resin printed toys & Funko pops (though you can find those too!). The staff are the friendliest, most helpful people and they make you feel super welcomed. Most vendors have fair pricing and you can even ask the staff to contact the vendors for you if you want to negotiate deals or ask about bulk pricing. There is now an ice cream parlor that serves snacks and drinks in the back with a sitting area to take a break. Plenty of clean bathrooms throughout. Wear your walking shoes!
Melissa F — Google review
I love this store! The staff are so friendly and there are copious amounts of stalls that have so many unique and different trinkets. This is one of my favorite antique stores in North Carolina, so far! This place is great if you’re looking for a niche gift for someone or decor.

The KLR Park was EVERYthing! It's safe, convenient, not crowded, has beautiful scenery, and is in a great location. Our Minis enjoyed their playtime and meeting new friends.

Nice small park. Appreciate that the playground is fully fenced. Partly shaded, swings, slides, and climbing. Close to bathrooms, but those dud need attention. Close to the water, kids enjoyed watching little fish swim around from the dock.

Jesse P — Google review
Fantastic park with modern and accessible structures for kids. There's plenty of benches and shade. Covered patio with picnic tables and a restroom! I highly recommend bringing the kids.
Just — Google review
It is a small and cute park. If you have younger kids this is a good place to have them play. If you like to run or walk small places, this is a nice park, they have a small track that surrounds the play area and parking lot. The dock that leads out into the river is a nice place to fish, set out on a kayak, do Tai chi or just sit in a swing and relax. Make some new little friends too.

THU 2025.09.25 06:45, i arrived at the KLR Park; parked my vehicle, then headed out for a ~6+_mi walk CCW-Loop: > Boat Dock > River District Downtown > KLR Park. Amazing views dawn-break at the Boat Dock .. whispered promise of a good day 🙃 KLR Park, Boat Dock, and the Belmont River District - commercial as well as residences were well-maintained and clean.
01kk W — Google review
The playground is nice. Good mix of jungle gym type play and slides. Good size shelter with multiple tables for picnics. The dock that is by the park though is in disrepair. Broken swings, and boards could make it a little dangerous for kids to wander near. Also, bathrooms had water leaking on the floor in men's room.

The Haunted Mill & Escape Rooms is a thrilling attraction located in a century-old mill. Visitors can expect an exhilarating experience as they race against time to uncover clues, solve puzzles, and ultimately survive the challenges presented. The venue has been praised for its immersive and realistic scenes, with some guests suggesting the use of glow sticks instead of flashlights for better visibility within groups.
Today we had a Birthday Party there for my two granddaughters. It was a great choice of places to pick. The staff was awesome, their generosity was great. The kids and adults had a super time. Free, Unlimited Mini Golf, Pool and music. They also have pay arcade games which were a hit. I would definitely recommend.

This was the best haunted house (mill) we have been to. Great job everyone!! The wait, the cost wasn't bad. We were out of the cold. We had 8 in our group hands down to them for letting our group go together. I would've LOVE to have seen all the props, scenes, and actors though because the few that I seen looked SOOOO REAL!!! I was able to see some because I was at the front with the light!!!!! I think it would be a good idea not to give a flashlight and have glow sticks so that you can see your group! just an idea. Last year we went to the escape room and had a blast! We are ready to do another! Does anyone know where they are relocating????
Lynn S — Google review
So much fun! This was much better than scarowinds! Everyone at the door was super friendly. The haunted maze was long, scary, and even better in the dark! They also have 3D minigolf! I had a great time with my friends and I can’t wait to go back and try the escape room!
Tania P — Google review
Total fail....with all the hype , I expected it to be awesome.....instead it was the most lame haunt ever...just a dark hall way with people slamming things against the wall to make you jump, no scary scenes at all except for the lame guy with a chainsaw that every haunted place has, and some of them weren't even in costume...just street clothes!...nothing looked professionally done or even very well thought out. For $16 to get in and $3 to park....I expected tons more creativity!
Michael P — Google review
Scariest (and most entertaining) haunted attraction in the area!!! This is the first time I've been to The Haunted Mill in about 4 or 5 years, and I can gladly say they have improved tremendously! Now they have 3D blacklight mini golf, an escape room, arcade, pool table, and the haunt is a lot more worthwhile. They also have a creepy projection to watch while you wait in line which was pretty cool. It was a little hot while waiting, but it was totally worth it. I got the haunted mill and mini golf combo ticket for only $20 and had so much fun! Definitely worth every penny!
Mandie L — Google review
Pretty neat setup. Worth the visit. I just wasn't scared lol. I can see it being very scary for some.
Shonkeya W — Google review
This place is awesome. The folks that work here are awesome. I really enjoy taking my kids for the black-light 3d mini-golf on days that we need something fun to do. This is also a great place to have a birthday party and the rates are very reasonable. My favorite thing about this place is that around Haloween the Haunted Mill is an absolute blast. Come and learn the rich history of what really happened at that mill long ago...

Great place for walking and playing Pokémon Go. Nice playground for kids. Scenic riverside areas. Cute restaurants across the street. Near the head of a greenway walking trail as well. Also has a enclosure to let your dogs run around.

it's a decent park tucked between a neighborhood and the little shops. i like walking disc golf courses. this course needs some. manicuring around the 11th box and forth. branches are everywhere and high grass. idt it's played often. also new signs need to be hung because the trails cut so many ways. the paved paths are nice because they are out and back paths. the parking is plenty and free. the playground area is cute. the sheltered work out equipment area is cool. always clean. feels safe. seems to have party shelters avail for rent. i recommend.

I love this establishment. The beer is exceptional, and the food is enjoyable. Despite living nearby, I only visit once per week. I highly recommend giving it a try as it will not disappoint. The service has consistently been excellent and polite, although my recent experience at the bar was slightly disappointing. Despite arriving 15 minutes before closing time, I felt unwelcome. There are more respectful ways to inform customers that the kitchen is closed without making them feel unwanted.
You can never go wrong here. Always a great choice of brew. I’ve been here 6 times over the past 2 years. I’ve tried all of their styles, including tonight’s Gose. All stand outs. The kitchen is being renovated, but there is a good food truck available outside. But, I have eaten here previously and it is very good. Great service, great atmosphere, plus pinball and darts.

I’m an avid traveler for work, and visit breweries around the country. I don’t get the negative reviews. Only ding is maybe the food was a little pricey, but seems like that’s everywhere now. Got a Philly loaded potato and a chicken pesto panini. Both were delicious. The steak on the potato was real, thinly sliced steak. The panini was amazing, and will get it again. The beer on the other hand…fantastic. I prefer Belgians, but they aren’t the norm. Didn’t have any here (maybe the peach wit was close) but every beer was good, and even my wife said 4/4 off bottles her flight were great. She’s not a hop head, and even enjoyed my hazy. I don’t get the 1-2 star reviews. It’s a solid brewery when most are average / below average.

My wife heard about the loaded potato restaurant at this place on the news. We stopped past on Saturday and it was pretty busy. First, the beer was fantastic! They new seltzer there also and it's really good. For food we had a Cajun lobster loaded potato and my wife had a hot honey panini. You order from a kiosk and they text you when the food is done. WAY BETTER than food trucks.

The beer was delicious and there are a plethora of choices, plenty of indoor and outdoor space with an atmosphere echoing vibes of the old mills in the local area. "The Pool Boy" was my goto. There is a food caterer onside but separate business from the brewery. Feels like a missed opportunity for local food to be showcased as part of the main business

Went to their Bavarian Octoberfest yesterday. The beers were great. Especially liked the Octoberfest beer! Band was great too! Just seemed to be lacking an Octoberfest type feel to it. Maybe employees wear German type clothes? Some pumpkins and "fallish" type decorations? It just kinda felt like any other visit. Not that we didn't enjoy it!
Brian K — Google review
Beer was great! Had the blood orange IPA and the espresso stout and would definitely recommend either. The food was also top notch. Get the Hot Honey panini! It's the best! Have been back a few times now and have not been disappointed by any of the beers yet!

Service was excellent, they make sure you’re taken care of. Staff look as if they enjoy their jobs. We were here for some beers and food. Let me just say we drove from Rock Hill and we weren’t disappointed. He had a Primal burger and it was delicious and cooked to perfection. I had Fish and chips imagine your fish fried in a batter to look like 2 huge egg rolls and steak fries which honestly at this point I didn’t care if they were frozen or not because they were nice and crunchy on the outside, soft and delicious on the inside. I had the Pumpalicious pumpkin ale with a sugar rimmed glass and I don’t usually drink beer but I had 2 of these and I’m glad I did because it literally was like having a spiked slice of grandma’s pumpkin pie. He had Kettle Fog Hazy IPA (it was more to his liking) and an Oktoberfest Marzen. Did I forget our appetizer? We had the boneless wings (ikr it’s his favorite kind) but don’t be fooled they were tasty sauces: Carolina gold and sweet heat they were so good! Crunchy, savory and I promise they don’t look like tenders. If you’re looking for a one stop shop, don’t look any further. I won’t mind the drive, we will be back and they have activities.

New to the area. My husband and I always check out breweries whenever we are in a new place. Got a flight here and all 4 beers were GREAT! We also ordered food, Philly potato and panini. Both were really good. Atmosphere is great too. You can sit inside or out on their large patio. Highly recommend for a visit! We will be back.

Hiking area
Seven Oaks Preserve Trail is a 4.6-mile loop near Belmont, offering picturesque views of Lake Wylie and hardwood forests. The trail is home to diverse wildlife such as wild turkeys, eagles, osprey, and kingfishers. It also features the unique swamp chestnut oak trees that produce large acorns. Visitors can enjoy a shady and breezy natural surface trail suitable for running, hiking, and biking with benches along the way to pause and take in the scenery.
Great trail with bridges and lake view, walked from side near Lake Wylie, went about a mile or so to Lake then turned around , nice views although first part had a lot of road noise , enjoyed the hike , hope to be back soon.

This is an easy trial with a variety of different scenery along the way. Creeks, lakeside, Forrest, and a parking lot. Speaking of parking lots. The map pin will take you to a smaller parking lot. You may or may not get a spot depending on the time of day. This trail takes you to the Botanical garden so you could park there and start from one side or the other. However, from this start point there are is no map signage to start you off. I added a photo for people to have. In either direction you’d go across the drive through area in front of the building to get to the other half of the trail if you start from the small lot. You will see plenty of people and dogs. Be careful for snakes as things warm up. An easy hike/walk to do with friend or family.

Very well maintained and clear trais. Perfect for nice long trail jogging. Only negative things is there's no restrooms at the trail head and it's also a bike trail. Hikers and bikers on the same trail are not ideal for either person.

SUN 2025.09.21 ~07:05, i was the the 4th to arrive at this TH parking. A few minutes later, i headed out for a walk (CW-Loop ~5 mi): Duke Kimbrell Trail > Daniel Stowe Trailhead Store > the neighborhood > the TH parking). The trail was well-maintained and in good condition. During my walk on the trail, encountered total of 3 people; everyone's courteous and friendly. Some bird singings in the woods and lots of sweet solitude. The neighborhood was nice.

Very nice experience I was shocked learning the lay of the land so much to explore will definitely return. My poor dog was exhausted for days after that walk!

Great trail to hike. Multiple bridges to cross (which the kids loved). The pathways are easily visible. There are several places to get access to the water and a small area that’s perfect for a picnic that overlooks the water. Lots of markers that tell you what kind of plant/tree you’re looking at. Beautiful scenery! We will definitely be going back to this trail!
Rebecca M — Google review
Beautiful hiking trail that leads through a variety of scenery: through pine woods, along a creek, through small clearings. Much of the trail follows the shore of Lake Wylie. There are a few benches you can rest at. The trail is over two miles in one direction, so we didn’t have time hike all of it, but we definitely want to go back.

Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden is a stunning public garden located on the shores of Lake Wylie. It was established in 1999 and covers 150 hectares, with an additional 300 under development. The garden features thematic gardens such as the Cottage Garden, Four Seasons Garden, and Canal Garden, each showcasing unique plant collections. Visitors can explore waterfalls, sculptures, and diverse flora and fauna throughout the expansive grounds.
What a beautiful place for a walk! First we visited the butterfly bungalow, and saw lots of them. Biologists were there to chat and answer questions. Then we walked the gardens. There are lots of pathways, water features, and a new trail with areas for kids to play creatively such as a small creek, a place to make music using natural materials, and places to let their imagination go. A huge castle is being built that looks like it will be a great play structure. There are trails and pathways throughout the property, and you can walk as far (or not) as you like. Trails outside the garden are free. There’s also a cafe with a small gift shop inside the garden, and a store at the front entrance that we didn’t visit, but the website says they have coffee, sandwiches, snacks, etc.

As a photographer, I am absolutely in love with Daniel Stowe! There is literally not one single area that is not beautiful to capture, with or without a cute couple! I swear every time I visit I find some new little area they have developed and it's even more beautiful than the last. Thank you for making this space available! Major props to the caretakers who keep it so well maintained. :)

My family visited yesterday to visit the new playground and we had a blast! The gardens were beautiful to walk through, the playground was large with plenty of room to play, and the walking paths with the secret rooms lended hours of fun. We loved it so much we walked away with a membership. My only suggestion for Daniel Stowe is to add benches closer to the playground for parents to sit. They have picnic tables, but they are kind of far from the playground for my liking. I felt like I could not see or hear my children from the picnic tables. Others parents felt similarly which led to parents sitting on the center of the playground and standing in pathways of the children playing. Again that was unavailable because there was no where near the playground to sit as an adult. However, this did not take away from the fun, and as this is a brand new playground I am sure it will be remedied in the near future. I am also not letting it effect my rating because it was an insignificant part of our visit

Daniel Stowe Conservancy is a beautiful place to explore and enjoy nature. There are several scenic paths that allow you to cover the entire grounds in about two hours. I loved the peaceful atmosphere and the chance to unwind outdoors. There’s a small café on-site with food and souvenir options, and during my visit, there was a creative scarecrow exhibit featuring contributions from local schools and community organizations. It added a fun and festive touch to the walk. Families will appreciate the new children’s play area called The Castle, which is perfect for kids to run, climb, and use up some energy. The property also offers event spaces, including a ballroom and a smaller indoor room—making it an ideal spot for weddings or gatherings. I took off one star because some areas seemed a bit under-maintained (possibly due to the season), and I only found one outdoor restroom, which could be improved. Overall, Daniel Stowe Conservancy is a wonderful place to relax, take in nature, and enjoy a refreshing outdoor experience.

The original portion of the garden is lovely! The butterflies and bumblebees throughout the pollinator garden were interesting and captivating! When this garden originally opened they had an open shuttle tram to bring guest back to the front of the garden near the Orchid conservatory. I hope they will extend the garden with lush flowers and fountains on the opposite side of this drive, with additional brick pathways so that guest can naturally loop back through to the entrance! Beautiful! Highly Recommend!!!

Absolutely stunning gardens, canal, pergolas, conservatory, and grounds... I've been to my fair share of botanical gardens and greenhouses and I was really wowed by this place. My highlight was the conservatory; the plants were huge, full, happy, and thriving — extending all the way to ceiling — and the water features added a lot to the ambiance and overall magic. The canal area is also gorgeously adorned with both flowers and tasteful sculptures. I spotted so many huge butterflies (and caterpillars!) while I was here, both in the enclosure and free roaming. This is a gorgeous place to experience natural beauty, and I can't wait to return!

Decent price for the family of all ages. I recommend the family pass if you live within Charlotte or the surrounding area. The family pass can be used at other botanical gardens across the country i was told. Plus it is good for all members of a household. The gardens are beautiful and there is even a butterfly garden where you can witness numerous different kinds of butterfly's in a natural habitat. This is great for kids of all ages! There are plenty of trails for walking, or even cycling. Lots to do here and see. Stop by there gift shop or cafe on the way out for a beverage or even a gift.
Christopher P — Google review
Front desk were not very friendly. Tried using the wheel chair button they said it was broken to my kids twice and just sat in their chairs watching while I struggled to get through the door. Bathrooms need to be more accessible when far into the garden. You have to walk all the way back to the front to use the bathroom and that’s difficult for families with children. $50 to enter to do the playground definitely not a good price for a large family to visit frequently The parking lot needs a lot of work and the grounds didn’t look well kept.

Located near Belmont, NC, Davis Park is a serene wooded area that offers various recreational amenities for families. This hidden gem boasts a playground, baseball and soccer fields, picnic tables, and public restrooms. On scorching summer days, the lush trees provide ample shade to beat the heat. While the playground may not be as modern as Kevin Loftin Riverfront Park's newly renovated equipment, Davis Park exudes a charm of its own with its natural surroundings.
Nice park. Plenty of room to play. Nice playground once covid restrictions are lifted. 7 lovely picnic tables. Couple of park benches. Shaded by big beautiful trees.

If you live near Belmont, NC and are looking for fun places to go with your kids, I recommend a visit to Davis Park. It has a lot of trees that provide ample shade on hot summer days. The playground is not as new as Kevin Loftin Riverfront Park which was recently renovated with all new equipment, but all of the nature make it feel like a hidden gem and it is a great place to beat the heat.

This is a cute little park fairly well hidden in town. Equipment is in good condition and well shaded. Relatively quiet compared to some other parks in town.

Clean park. Lots of shade, which is great in this horrible heat. Trash cans are available as well as restrooms. The women's bathroom could have used a lot of attention. But I am just thankful they have one! Free and lots of parking. It can be confusing getting to or leaving the park if you are not familiar with the roads.
