Park
Interstate State Park, located in St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin, is a scenic park situated along the St. Croix River. It consists of two state parks on the border of Wisconsin and Minnesota with deep basalt gorges and rock formations.
Lots of hiking and quite a few attractions here. High views from the bluffs. Fun on the Dalles of the St Croix plus the Lake Amphitheater and beach on the lake o the dalles, and a trail around the lake. Lots of beautiful sights here and especially if you’re willing to hike or explore a bit. There’s a hidden beach by the pet picnic area near the bottoms

Our camping group, Camping in Uranus had a road trip to Montana from Indiana. This was our first stop. Nice place to camp. Bathrooms were decently clean. Our site was a little small but I’m sure we got one of the last few so we made it work. The hiking trails are pretty cool. I liked the pothole trail. The lookout is amazing. The potholes are interesting at least. They have a ferry on the other side I would like to try out sometime. Enjoyed the little time I spent here. I would come back again.
MrDjdoughd — Google review
This is one of the most beautiful parks we've stayed at. Our site was fairly private with a beautiful view. No water hookups at the site, so we had to fill our fresh water tank, but that was a rookie mistake on our part. They have a fill station, so it wasn't a big deal. We really enjoyed our time, and will definitely camp here again.
Jerusha B — Google review
Probably top 3 prettiest WI state parks that we have visited. Beautiful views of the river and gorge from multiple trails. Walking through the rock formations was fun for us and the dog. Loved it!
Dawn A — Google review
We had a great experience camping at interstate park. We had an electric site for our travel trailer. Office was extremely friendly. Water, showers and toilet was off due to late in season.but the outhouse were clean and stocked. Our site was exceptional with a slite grade to it. Under tree cover. Plenty wide and deep. Our son is disables and we went on a loop trail that was difficult for a small scooter. But really that's why we went... We had more fun getting unstuck from roots rocks and soft soil. Our scooter wasn't designed for what we were doing! Lol we even got stuck in some wet leaves. Bottom line the vews were extraordinary! Accomodations excellent including the fire pits being placed in great location! Will be back... With a more appropriate scooter. Thank you to the staff! You guys helped us out immensely with all the questions we had!

We came here during labor day weekend and what a beautiful place to hike, the terrain was rough at times, but we took it as a challenge, hiked both ways. We stoped Taylor falls boat launch for pizza, to refuel us for the hike back. We enjoyed our stay there. Anyone looking for a great place to relax and take in a beautiful waterfall, go to Willow River state park in Wisconsin where you’ll find an amazing willow Falls . The steep path leading to it is worth the jaunt.
Jennifer D — Google review
Great Time! I hiked over from the Minnesota side of Interstate State Park. The River trail meets up where the Glacier Potholes are. I loved scrambling on the rocks and the views of the St. Croix River. You can take the River Trail across the bridge to the Minnesota side if you want to launch a kayak or a canoe. There is more hiking available in the Dalles of St. Croix. I did not do that hike but it looked amazing so I will have to try it next time I am in the area.
Cindy P — Google review
A couple of my friends and I camped here for one night while passing through Wisconsin. We only hiked a little, but enjoyed the areas we saw. There were trails not far from our campsite. No issues with anything at the campground.

Scenic spot
Nestled between northwestern Wisconsin and eastern Minnesota, the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway is a breathtaking natural gem that spans 252 miles of pristine riverways. As one of the original eight National Wild and Scenic Rivers, it stands out as the largest scenic riverway east of the Mississippi River. This stunning area offers a plethora of outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, and fishing—making it an ideal destination for nature enthusiasts.
Love the trails and pollinator garden. The rangers at Visitor Center were fantastic. We love the Junior Ranger program! Highly recommended for young ones!
Ashley A — Google review
Really hard to rate the entire Scenic Riverway because it is so vastly long. But the sections I have been to are outstanding. There are numerous state parks and state forests on both sides of the river accompanying the federal land along the river. Overall a great place to boat, kayak, tube, paddle, sightsee, swim and enjoy the scenic river.

Another trip down the Nam! 3 days paddling and camping! What's not to love? So scenic and quiet.

Pretty peaceful view. Minus the sound of traffic. Nice walking trail is next to it. Pretty water. Gladly go back.

There is a lot to do, and I mean a LOT! To do up and down both sides of the St Croix Scenic Riverway. Been exploring this river and towns my entire life. Also lived 1 block from the St Croix in Stillwater You can view my other reviews for individual locations along this stretch Eventually I will plan a kayak backpacking trip along this route … let me get back to you 😉

The park partners with national conservation departments and rehabilitators to promote proper animal care. Visitors can explore the park's exhibits featuring deer, elk, wolves, geese, and even a mountain lion. Additionally, there are petting areas, a farmyard with pony rides for children to enjoy.
Fun place to bring the family. Very cool experience getting to feed and pet deer! Lots of other critters to see as well. Animals are gentle too, make sure to save a carrot for the badgers. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Overall, a neat place to check out.

Love this place!! We go here yearly, more than once usually. Great for families, dates, or girls day out. The wider clear paths is much more handicap accessible and the new buildings are very nicely setup. Highly recommend Bonus.... 1st time I had Canadian Geese (3) eat directly from my hand!!
J. L — Google review
Such a great place to visit when you are in the area. The amount of wildlife to engage with us awesome. The kids get to be up close and personal with deer and many others. There have been a lot of really nice updates to the place over the years. The food trucks outside are also a great way to grab a treat with the kids after for the drive home.
Tyler W — Google review
It was so much fun. We love it, and this is my first time feeding the deer. The staff members were so friendly and well-mannered. Every section was well-maintained, and the animals were also welcoming to people. I would love to visit again and definitely recommend that people see this awesome place.
Kazi Z — Google review
So much fun we try to go every year but been a few since we been. They have done a lot of updating and lots of fun new exhibits. They do amazing job to keep things clean and fun for the family. I definitely recommend this place for the family day, date night or just yourself!
Tyler T — Google review
Oh my goodness this place is amazing That's all I can say The animals the property the scenery the staff it's such a wonderful fun place to go. My wife and I take our special needs disabled child there and he absolutely loves it All the goats make him giggle and he loves to follow the birds around the pond everywhere. For privacy I won't include pictures of my child but there's tons of them hanging out with the deer and the birds.
Don J — Google review
I really liked how clean the little zoo/ animal park was. The staff are lovely. My concern is they're selling food to everyone that walks through the door and some of the animals are being forcefed or overeating and don't look super healthy. I feel like there should be a cap on all the food that is being brought to these animals that are in captivity. Great family. Interactive experience but I would probably knowing now having been there. Never buy food again
Lisa D — Google review
We visited today 09-01-2025. We had a great time. There's been improvements on the walking trails I've noticed since our last visit. Plenty of well fed looking animals to see and pet. The only concern we had was one of the badgers today was pacing around in the enclosure. At each corner, he'd arch his back up then scurry off around to the next corner. Hopefully he's been evaluated and isn't experiencing a medical issue. Plenty of restrooms around and wash stations. Benches and swings throughout the grounds. The family who owns this facility cares about the animals and grounds. It shows.

Dancing Dragonfly Winery in St. Croix Falls is a perfect spot to unwind after exploring the City of Trails or Interstate State Park. The winery offers a variety of food options, including paninis, flatbreads, artisan pizzas, and finger foods like meat and cheese plates. Don't miss out on their award-winning raspberry dessert wine called Tango Sundae. Visitors have praised the helpful staff and the scenic views from the upstairs balcony.
While in the Minneapolis area, we decided to venture across the state line and visit Wisconsin. While there, we found Dancing Dragonfly Winery and was very impressed. As someone that frequent the wineries in the North Georgia Mountains where I'm from, this was a very nice gem to find for some very good wine. Becky was top notch and was absolutely helpful and engaging. If I'm ever in the area again, I will definitely make this one of my must visit spots.

We were looking for something to do on a rainy day while camping in Hudson. This place was so worth the drive! Everyone was helpful and welcoming. Dawn took great care of us, she was very personable and had good suggestions . As far as the wine goes, there was a lengthy list of fantastic options. We especially loved their specialty wines! The setting is also gorgeous. We will be back next time we're in the area!

The 18-hole course is surrounded by lush greenery and streams, creating a picturesque setting for a fun family activity. Visitors can enjoy the convenience of having a drive-in restaurant adjacent to the golf course, making it an all-in-one entertainment destination.
A great family place to bring your kids to the attached drive-in for lunch or supper then play a round of mini golf. You are eligible for a classic car discount (roughly $3.50) if you drive-in with one. Easy course to play even with younger kids, and only 8$ a person.
Joseph W — Google review
Put this one on your list of must do, it’s a good one. A very Par friendly course. No need to bend over to pick your ball out of the hole either, they have the pull-out flags here as well as nice water features. Enjoy…
Jeff B — Google review
So I lost to the wifey, so of course we had to play again! Mostly well done par 50 mini golf course. The water falls/features are a nice addition - soothing sounds for my golf nerves. The course is showing some signs of aging - a few holes in need of repair. Holes 4 & 5 could be better marked - we directed a few groups the other direction, one group after they already started hole #6. For the time of year and being in the trees we figured leaves are to be expected - there were some. Got the better of my wife the second round - but only by one!
Joe G — Google review
A well-run operation. We were a party of 2 adults. We got there around 11:15 am on a Sunday. It wasn't too busy at all and it took us just over an hour to get through all 18 holes. We enjoyed the water features. Be aware that the course may have stray leaves/woodchips debris, so if you are serious about mini golf, that may bother you. We had fun!
Timotheus K — Google review
Positioned next to The Drive In Restaurant in beautifullly scenic Taylors Falls, this course is located in a wonderful spot. Our group did encounter a number of flaws with the course design, such as multiple trap spots that are simply no fun at all. Maintenance of the course also seemed a little outdated, with worn materials in too many spots to overlook. And on the day we played, the course was absolutely littered with leaves. Despite all these issues, our group all had fun. One of us managed a quite brilliant under par round thanks to their consistent putting, while another in our group scored a spectacular three hole-in-ones during their round. I had a terrible time of things, but the setting, and the fact we did have players who - mostly - navigated the issues we found, just about gets me to four stars.
Lee S — Google review
Fun course to play with different levels of difficulty along the way. It was pretty busy when we went but we were able to still get through the course in a timely manner and had a fun time. Definitely a fun spot for the entire family!
Justin T — Google review
It was fun BUT each hole could use A LOT of TLC. It was hard to find a flat surface to even putt from.
Sara O — Google review
Course was filthy, you could take 2 hours and make the course look “decent” flag poles don’t stay in the hole, have to leave the walking paths cuz of over hanging branches, and weeds everywhere. A leaf blower at the start of the day would go a long ways. Not a fan.

Fast food restaurant
The Drive-In Restaurant is a classic spot that has been a local favorite since 1956. It offers picnic table seating and serves up delicious burgers, hot dogs, and homemade root beer floats. The menu includes options like veggie, bison, and turkey burgers as well as gluten-free bun choices. This nostalgic eatery provides high-quality food made with locally sourced ingredients such as beef, vegetables, dairy, and bread from a nearby bakery.
We had the most amazing time at Fonda Rosa animal park, planning 10 of us celebrating our grandsons 3rd birthday. The weather was unpredictable, and we just went for it. Let me tell you that the service was amazing, the food was everything you would expect from a drive in. Great! Great place, people and food. The topping was my husband and I planned to flip the bill for all., while my husband provided his military ID, it was told to us that the lady who was behind us paid our entire bill ! Are you kidding me? Brought tears to my eyes. Our bill was well over 200$ with tip. We were in awe all the way home to Monticello Mn. Thank you so much for this random act of kindness, what a beautiful memory ❤️
Tricia S — Google review
I came in with my husband for dinner and we had great service. The staff was very friendly and the menu was very varied. My two concerns the cheese curds were cheddar and it was not noted on the menu so my husband did not help me eat them which sucked as I didn’t want to eat them all by myself. The other issue was the cost of a pup cup was two dollars. Now two dollars isn’t that bad but when you compare it to multiple other businesses such as scooters coffee where it’s a dollar or Dairy Queen where it’s free or $.50 two dollars for one single pup cup is a lot especially if you have two dogs. My burger was very flavorful very juicy, but I did have tomato and onion added, which were an extra cost but it was about $.25 each which wasn’t bad. Overall, it is a pretty cool place and I would love to come back. I just would not get pup cups for my dogs. It would be better for me to get a full on cone get an empty cup and just take off part of my cone for them.
Mariah V — Google review
Busy, but so worth the wait. Got a table quickly. Service was fast and friendly. Food was delicious. Large portions. Wait staff was very friendly. Clean. Has a mini golf on property. Taylor's Falls is a busy town.
Robin P — Google review
The Drive In Restaurant is a classic burger, fries, and malt spot. They have a giant spinning root beer mug that greets you immediately. They have numerous tables outdoors that have a view of a water feature as well as a mini golf course. The service workers are busy and work hard to support you. I was able to taste a bacon cheeseburger and fries, as well as a strawberry malt. I really enjoyed the bacon on the cheeseburger and the fluffy bun. The fries could use some more seasoning to make them more enjoyable.
Andrew A — Google review
I had a root beer float and crinkle fries because I read about how famous their root beer is. The root beer is made in house and it's really really good. Possibly the best root beer I've ever had. The atmosphere was very cute and retro, and there's a counter and some picnic tables you can sit at if you don't want to eat in your car. They were very busy when I was there, and I imagine they're like that all summer.
Heather S — Google review
It took around 15 minutes or so before we got any water after being seated, but everyone was hustling, and when the waitress came for our order, she was very nice and accommodating to our kids. The food is pretty average, but the environment was nice. My wife enjoyed her burger, but my son and I didn't care for the taste of the meat. I can't quite place what it was, seasoning maybe, but I didn't like the flavor. We also had the cheese curds, which were good. The malts were excellent and I enjoyed the homemade rootbeer, I just wished it came in one of those frosty mugs ;) Another perk was if you got a kids meal, you got a 2 for 1 on minigolf! Also, be aware that if you're using a credit card, there is a 4.9% fee.
Michael R — Google review
What a great place! We stopped here after a hike at the Wisconsin interstate Trail. I've never been here and wasn't sure about stopping cause they were sooo busy (there was going to be a parade we didn't know about) and we all worked up a hunger on our hike. Anyway, the service and the food was AWESOME 😎!!! We had to wait for a table (about 10 minutes) and then we were given menus and our order was taken right away. We didn't wait long for our food considering how busy they were, about 15-20 minutes. The food was 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟+ We definitely didn't leave hungry and the price was fitting for the service and food. I'll definitely be going back when I get a chance. Also, we didn't get a chance (due to time) but I saw lots of people enjoying the mini golf they had there. Going to try that when I go back.
Audrey J — Google review
What a fun place! You can either drive in and get carbide service to eat in your vehicle or park on the street and walk in to the restaurant area and sit outdoors. We walked in and checked in with the hostess to get our name on the waitlist. We got there right around 5:00pm on a Sunday. We waited for about 15 minutes to be seated (party of 2 adults). Our order was taken shortly after that. Drinks came within 15 minutes or so with food just minutes later. We enjoyed the atmosphere and music. The food was excellent with juicy burgers and unique root beer. The staff work hard to keep customer service moving quickly.

Coffee shop
Coffee Talk is a charming coffee shop located in the quaint town of Taylor's Falls. Housed in an old building, it offers a cozy and unique atmosphere for visitors to enjoy locally roasted coffee and delicious treats. The shop provides a variety of coffee choices, teas, and bakery options such as homemade morning buns and vegan granola bars. Guests can also purchase freshly roasted coffee to take home.
Great service and flavors. Ordered a few coffees and some rolls. The gluten free chocolate muffin was good too. After a walk in Interstate it was a place to recharge. We paid for parking across the street at Interstate.
Stephen L — Google review
Good, robust Americano (4 shots of espresso in a large Americano). Cozy indoor and outdoor space, but some weird wall art. Only one food option (a breakfast roll - mix between croissant & cinnamon roll, either cinnamon or raspberry, but good).
Thomas O — Google review
Great coffee spot! I loved watching the barista carefully weigh the beans and time the shot — it set the tone for an excellent espresso experience. And it truly was some of the best espresso I’ve ever had. The shop has a cute, welcoming atmosphere and a wide variety of flavor options, though honestly, the espresso is so good you don’t even need to add anything to it. When we visited, the line was to the door and it took about 25 minutes to get our drinks. There was just one employee at the counter, but they were working as quickly and efficiently as possible. Given the quality of the coffee, the wait felt completely reasonable.
Ellie M — Google review
We stopped at Coffee Talk for a quick drink while it was raining out. We had some hot tea and a muffin and watched the rain 🌧 through the window 🪟. Can you get more cozy and relaxed? Overall, it was a brief but pleasant experience. I want to stop here anytime we are passing through Taylor's Falls.
Brian R — Google review
I really enjoy the atmosphere here. The coffee is very good (maybe excellent), and people are generally cheery. It's a great place to get away from the home office.
Dan W — Google review
Great little coffee shop! Highly recommend stopping here for your morning fix. We tried several different specialty coffees and they were all very good. The flavors are original without being over the top, more of a subtle blend that hints at the idea rather than overpowering it. We loved it and would definitely recommend checking this place out.
Matt H — Google review
Everything about Coffee Talk is splendid! The vibes and service alike are immaculate! My favorite local coffee spot! As an added bonus, it's right near all these cute local shops and by Interstate park! Definitely stop by if you are out on the town :) Also, they support their local artists!

Stopped in for a couple of coffees and they were decent. Not the best turtle we’ve had but it sure beats gas station coffee. The service was good and the old house is pretty cool. There are a lot of older pictures of town history which is nice.

This is a hidden Treasure, I encourage everyone to go see for themselves you will not be disappointed!!

I love your venue, but my experience was impacted by talkative guests. First I made eye contact with the disrupter, second I put my pointer finger over my lips, third I whispered during a scene change to please stop talking. They didn’t stop. I reported it during intermission, and unfortunately no one addressed it— while walking back to my seat, I heard one usher talk to another usher about locating the disruptors. Since I sat close to them, no one approached them that I could see and they never stopped talking during the second half of the show. I hope staff can be empowered to intervene more effectively in the future. As it stands this moment, I’m not sure I’ll be back. My night was ruined and I drove from Minneapolis to see this show when I’m a HUGE fan of Holmes and Watson stories.

We went to see Holmes and Watson. It was lovely, funny, witty, smart and so well acted. Thank you for making it so easy to come to an excellent venue with professional actors for a reasonable price. All 5 of us were able to sit together and the lighting and sound were fabulous. Thank you

Came up to see a Shakespeare performance and was not disappointed! This theater is not the largest but I have seen smaller performances on much larger stages. The cast and performances made this production feel like a large stage and not at all what you would expect from a typical community theater. Local performers and performers that were brought in from different parts of the country. Hard to tell that the cast hasn't known each other forever. Great chemistry - Outstanding characters. Very impressed with the whole experience. Already have tickets for the next show!!!

Folsom House, located in the historic Angel Hill District, is a restored 1850s home that offers visitors a glimpse into the lumber era. The house was once owned by W.H.C. Folsom, a prominent figure in the timber business and state senator. Visitors can take a tour of the house for a fee and learn about its rich history from knowledgeable guides.
Took this tour last week. You just cannot go wrong taking this 60-minute tour! Learn all about what its like for some poor hard-working kid growing up to be a rich and influential man, all within the 1800's. Makes you want to go get his autobiography. Can't want for the movie to come out. Best part was how a farmer whose land was flooded by dam builders blew it up with dynamite! That caused a HUGE log jam. Serves them right! Farmer should get compensated. The one thing I would change which I can't fault the tour guide was how they characterized our hero Mr Folson in bravely fighting Dakota Indians in 1962. Dakota were facing starvation and displacement by government so they attacked ppl around them. Fighting starving ppl is not a brave thing to do. Tour guide should speak about the event as unfortunate for everyone. That's all. ALWAYS LEARN HISTORY! so you don't repeat the same mistakes, plus you learn how others do things the right way so you can repeat those same successes. The house is wheelchair accessible to get inside but the second-floor part of tour would be off limits.

This was a huge surprise, unplanned and delightful.. The house was built in the 1850's and it remains in great shape today.. The William Folsom story is really intesting.. He had quite a life.. The "Tour Guide" whose name I can't remember, was wonderful, intesting, well informed and friendly.. Our visit to the House museum was the highlight of our day trip to Taylor's Falls.. a wonderful and unexpected surprise I recommend the tour to all

Taylors Falls Bead Store is a hidden gem offering an overwhelming variety of beads and beading accessories, making it a paradise for jewelry enthusiasts. The store also features completed pieces and DIY kits for creating unique bracelets. Additionally, the shop offers a basement antique section with various items to explore. Visitors can expect friendly staff, a great selection of crystals and energy clearing tools, as well as eye-opening fossils and local artists' jewelry.
I've shopped here for many jewelry and accessory projects, they often have everything I need. There's so many options here, and the employees are easy to talk to when you have questions. Especially Amber, she's always curious and ready to help. This shop holds a special place in my heart.

i make a lot of jewelry and various wire/chain/bead projects. this is the best store for supplies i’ve ever visited!! they had an enormous selection of beads & other findings. their wire & chain selection was really unique and beautiful. we swung by on our way out of town quick because i never pass up a bead store, and we will be making a trip back to this area to visit this store and spend a lot longer in here shopping! 15/5 stars!!

If you love crystals, charms, beads, and a little unexpected magic, this is your place! ✨ Every corner is an adventure, from sparkling shelves to the basement “year-round garage sale” full of treasures you didn’t even know you were looking for. The employees are wonderfully welcoming, and the energy in the store just makes you feel lighter, brighter, and a little enchanted. You never know what tiny spark of joy—or perfect bead—you’ll stumble upon! 🌟🔮

929/25 1:20pm. My wife's favorite place to look around in and buy a couple things. We drove to Taylor Falls just to primarily go there. So much merchandise in there and rocks and jewelry craft items a little bit of Indian stuff and it is completely packed. Downstairs is like a garage sale type atmosphere and I don't know how that's put together but there's old fishing lures for sale, tools, Antiques and just a wide variety of products to look at or purchase. It's not really a place for misbehaving children as there's so much in there and limited space to get around because of that. Parking is on the street or across the street there's a park and ride that you don't have to pay to park in and easy walking distance to the downtown area businesses.

Interstate State Park is a picturesque riverside park located in Taylors Falls, Minnesota. The park offers a variety of outdoor activities such as hiking among old lava flows and glacial potholes, canoeing, camping, and fishing along the rushing St. Croix River. Visitors can explore natural geological marvels like the Bake Oven and the Bottomless Pit on the Pothole Trail, which features stunning vistas but requires navigating numerous steps.
This is a wonderful place to visit, and it’s only an hour from the Twin Cities. We spent two nights in Taylors Falls near the end of winter, and on the way back home, we stopped by Stillwater since it was along the way. In the summer, it’s probably easy to walk the trails here, but in the winter, it can be a challenge. We’ll definitely come back in the summer to enjoy the beautiful scenery.

Stopped by after work, this place was recommended by coworker. I’m visiting from Houston and I love sight seeing. It was not busy during my arrival on a Wednesday around 7pm. Paid 7 dollar for day parking. You can always enter through the Minnesota side also and the parking uses the same tag. Plenty of parking and I notice there’s a couple of park benches along the way. Trails were very nice, easy for folks of all ages to trek. You can explore the rocky area at your own risk, I wouldn’t recommend it for kids unless you feel comfortable. This place is really beautiful and I wished I had more time to explore. Mother Nature is a true artist.

One of my favorite parks. The stairs on the bluffs trail look like they need some love, but otherwise great views, lots of trail options, can ride the paddle boat for a fee (as of my post, it's dog friendly as well at no extra charge). There's canoe/kayak rental and a shuttle bus that will bring you back. Lots of options. Campground is less than a mile down the road from town.

9/29/25 2pm. A nice and interesting State Park to visit along the St Croix River. Typically busy, but not on this Monday is why we went. Barely anyone there and as a result lots of parking. It was unseasonably hot, 85, so we didn't do a lot of walking around like we usually do. The unusual rock formations in the park are a contrast to the rugged jagget rocks and cliffs along the St Croix River.

Absolutely lovely trails!!! Kept up very nice and is clean! They have very accessible restrooms as well. This is definitely a trail to come visit if you're in Minnesota or Wisconsin. The views are breathtaking and the people who visit the area are also so very kind!

I had never heard of Interstate State park and have lived mostly in Minnesota most of my life. So, for me personally on this Labor Day adventure the enjoyment for me was seeing a part of Minnesota I didn't know exist. I'm overweight and out of shape so was a bit intimidated by a lot of hiking. I did though see the visitor center and go a short way down the potholes trail near the visitor center. I was very impressed by what I saw and there were lots of people there and it was a short but fun enriching experience. It was nice to commune with nature and see these potholes. I'm truly amazed by the glacial potholes. I found inspiration for my fitness goals maybe to hike there someday. I will hopefully return and do a longer hike, camp etc. I really liked it there though and it was beautiful late summer weather. I highly recommend anyone check out this place.
Colette E — Google review
We've been there many times and it's gorgeous there. The paths and trails are clearly marked and the parking is easy. The camping is fun and they have great spaces to set up tents. I highly recommend checking it out. Plus it's near Stillwater where there you can shop or grab some food.
Katie E — Google review
A great park! Interstate State Park actually has two parts. I hiked the Walter Mondale River trail along the St. Croix River to the Wisconsin side and then hiked around the potholes, etc. These pictures are on the MN side. I would suggest hiking shoes so that you can climb up on the ledges and rocks. There is a very nice picnic area and a boat launch where people put in their canoes and kayaks. I did not stay at the campground.

This is a great relaxing boat tour. From the moment of arrival we were greeted with friendliness. During the boat tour the narrator has some good jokes and bits of historical information. We saw a beautiful bald eagle - which, apparently, is common to see in this area. If you're coming up this way, it's a great boat tour to join. We would do this boat tour again.

Bring a jacket and warm clothes. The tour is great, especially in the fall. The boat is roomy and has a bar. There is a small set of bathrooms, if needed. The staff is good. Parking is a little strange, but not hard to figure out. We recommend this tour! A fun way to see the river side of both Wisc and MN, cliffs and dalles.

I had always driven past this place as a kid and always wanted to stop and try it out. Now with my family we finally went it was a great experience. With young kids, I wanted to find something they would love and our two year old LOVED it! There is great seating on the lower deck that is enclosed or on the open upper deck. We went on a Sunday in early June which was a great choice so it was not too busy. There is plenty of space to walk around on the two decks to see all the views so there you’re not out of luck if you don’t get a good seat. A staff remember commentated parts of the trip was great to learn about the interesting landmarks and history of the area. Great experience!

Visitors have praised the generous portions and delicious food such as the chicken wild rice soup and Ellsworth cheese curds.
First off, if I could give all the stars to our waitress I would! She was beyond one of the best I've ever encountered. She was patient, friendly, attentive, and really has your best interest at heart! I will go back just for the service! The food was good. My 6 year old nephew LOVED being able to make his own PB&J sandwich. The fries were great! The chicken Philly was great! The mash was a little gummy, but I just ate some fries! The fries are top notch! Green beans were crisp and not greasy. They have some options for kids to eat free, which saves on the wallet! Can't wait to go back!

Stopped in on a Tuesday. They offered a pizza deal, so we gave it a try. Pizza and wings were really good and the beer was really cold. Bartender and patrons were all very nice. We were in town hiking the Ice Age Trail and were given lots of good advice. Definitely will be back.

Ugh im so gonna sound like a katen here... But I am never going back to Loggers 1st time in 2024 My friend and I were doing the Mammoth ice age trail and decided to stop here for lunch. The waitress "E". Didn't know what trail magic was. Charges us for refills and gave us no discount. For the trail magic & it was clearly on the entry door. Gave it a 2nd chance with friends this time 2025 for the MAmmoth hike trail again and the waitress "H" Didn't ask to split the check but adked other tables. We haf to adk at leadt 2x to split it, I asked twice for a to go box and my friends refill he never received. These waitresses need better training. I was a waitress and knew better. They were more like space cadets. Just like the sign says by the door. Cold beer, lousy food and poor service. Its soo true! Please do better... Update: To the owner's response. We did get charged for the refill and we all had patience n I always give benefit of doubt. Thats why I want back a 2nd time. Small things go a long way like details. It took at least 3x asking for something. We also were there both times on a weekend. But besides all that I understand things get busy and things get forgotten. Its all a learning thing for everyone.Thank you for the feedback. 😀

This seems like a really nice place and also a very busy one. We only wanted a place to get a beer and a snack. We got the beer and an order of cheese curds. The Cheese Curds were a fairly big order and with that we were not able to finish them. The bar had drink coolers built in which is something I had not seen before and for the most part I didn't leave my beer long enough to get warm. I would come back to this location if I was traveling through again since the food smelled good and the staff was friendly.

Atmosphere matched to name of the place. Log cabin sports bar. Service was really good. The poutine gravy was good, unfortunately they battered the curds so it wasn't a traditional poutine which is what I prefer.

I'm a big fan of NPS, and I was curious about this place. I couldn't watch the video since there was a training session in the room. You can drive along the river but can't see the river because of trees unless you find pullover spots. One good spot is in Interstate Park (Wisconsin side). Jesi was great as she gave me an excellent history of the river. It was raining so I didn't do any hiking.

The visitor center itself is really nice and has lots of information. There is a short walk to a small overlook park where you can partially see the St Croix Dam, but you need to go to the other side of the river to see it properly. I think this could have been better located. Worth a stop if you are passing.

What a cute, nostalgic place! From the moment you walk in, it takes you back. There are phenomenal ice cream flavors and ice cold cane sugar sodas and other beverages. With pinball machines and a lovely outdoor patio, this place has everything!

Stopped in for a cool treat on a warm day. The buildings footprint dates back to 1903 and the nostalgia of the decades past is evident in every corner. There are several receivers and record players behind the bar. Some slow jazz played while the pinball machines binged and flapped. A huge selection of ice cream flavors, but I went with the root beer float. My husband got the hot fudge brownie malt. Highly recommend stopping in.

We just got ice cream when we came here, and it was generous portions, but the atmosphere was amazing! It's so cute and there are lots of quarter machines and a few pin ball machines and some little rides for 6y/o and younger. I will definitely be bringing my girls here again, mabey grab some actual food too.
Bethany R — Google review
Disappointing. Malts are generously sized but the smallest one is $9.50 + $1.00 credit card charge PLUS tip. That's a lot for a malt. The malt tasted good, but it was grainy from too much malt powder. The outdoor seating area was dirty and completely overgrown. Not enough shade, tables need repaint, outdoor area needs weed whacking and landscaping. Also no bathrooms. I wanted to love this place, and I may come back, but I was disappointed.
Moses B — Google review
We were not impressed with this place. The cheese pizza slices were below average and tasted like they had been sitting there for a while. And although the slices were big, their quality did not justify the price. The malts we had were alright, but they only came in a large size, which was too much. We were also not fans of the decor. I understand it’s meant to feel and look vintage, which is not our style, but if you’re into that, you may enjoy the interior decorations. Finally, the hours of operation differed from what we saw on Google Maps. We could not find a website or phone number to confirm the hours. In my opinion, pretty much every business should have a site and number this day and age that a customer can easily look up.

My husband and I had such a fun time exploring this area and checking out this great brewery. I always enjoy trying different flavors of beers, and he typically likes a blonde. They were out of their tap blonde, so he got a crawler. I really enjoyed the MooJoosy IPA and the MC Hamma. It was so nice to sit there and relax and listen to some live music (so fun to have a fiddle player as well). We had some great conversations with other people in the brewery and even played a little game of wall bags..not sure what it’s called. Visitors rave about the practical and functional hand-sculpted artwork by Leif and the beautifully executed visual art by Meg.
Nice selection of pottery including vases, bowls, cups, wine glasses and platters that were tastefully decorated for daily use. They also had blown glass vases and paintings.

I don't normally come here, but I did enjoy their products.

If you are visiting Saint Croix (or live there) this place is a must see destination. Leif's work is wonderful and I would definitely recommend. Ordered custom mugs from him and my girlfriend and I absolutely love them and use them everyday. If you need gifts for almost any occasion, this is the place to go. Will definitely be back and can not recommend this place enough.

I am 43 years old. I started going her when i was 25 and on my 26th golden birthday i was able to make my own pot. Something i will never forget. Took my mom here and she loved the paintings and my own children have been here. Miss this place. Been many years.

Had a custom plate done for our first grand daughter almost 26 years ago, and just ordered a custom piece for her wedding in June. Wow! Great people and wonderful artists.

Wonderful collection of pottery and paintings. Finished my Christmas shopping with a warm personal touch. Delightful shop, toasty wood fire, spectacular view.

Practical, functional hand sculpted artwork from Leif and beautifully executed visual art from Meg...all local talent. Great people, great talent, great advocates for our beautiful river valley, and great friends...keep up the exceptionally fine work!

Leif and Meg are very talented artists and their shop is adorable. If lucky you can get a demo on site and order all your custom pottery and printing straight from the artist

My wife and I were almost expecting a tourist trap when we saw the southern European hunting lodge style of this estate. However, that is not the case. The owner just had a taste for the style. Which I must admit to enjoying myself as well. The wine was phenomenal! Truly and utterly phenomenal. We each had a flight (5), so I got to sample 10 of their wines. *Cue happy little jig* Of these, there was only one I didn't like. But that was only because the others I tried put it to such shame. Honestly, by itself, I would have enjoyed it. It was the comparison that hurt it. But I can heartily recommend their entire selection! Subject to your own preference and taste, of course. We were blessed enough to be the only people there, and Jan gave us all her time and attention. She often regaled us with fascinating tidbits of the wine making world and the varying processes. We were quite happy to sip on our wines and soak it all up. Why are you still reading? Get in your car and go. Go!

LOVE this winery, especially the Detroit style pizza that was served on Saturday during our visit. The cook and staff were so friendly!!!! The savory pizza complemented the Cabernet very nicely. The pizza was incredibly tasty and the golden crusted cheese on the edges enhanced the flavor! We will definitely be back! My husband even said it was absolutely worth the drive and he doesn’t even drink wine. Great selection of drinks for every palette! Thank you for such a pleasurable experience!!!! I'd give 10 stars if it was possible. 🤩🍷

We came here very early, almost as they opened. I thought it might have views of the river. It does not, but it has views of vast fields and the vineyard. We didn't stay indoors because it was a gorgeous summer day but theybhave a nice dining room inside befitting the "chateau" name. Outdoors, they have a patio up front and a covered dining area in the back, where we chose to plant ourselves. I got the wine tasting sampler where they give you 5 tokens that you can use to sample _any_ wine on the list! I like that because I really wanted a slushie but I wanted to sample the wines that I might try to bring home. The lady at the counter was super nice and I tried 2 white wines, a dessert red, a rose and the slushie! We also had flatbreads and the meat and cheese board. If we had come later, the live music would've made it perfect. I really like that they serve light food here because that's part and parcel of a good winery experience...

Must visit winery! My husband and I stopped here for an afternoon & loved this spot. Beautiful views and scenic spots outdoors, yet the inside was equally as charming with the chateau vibes. Wine was excellent - especially the full bodied reds (Marco V). Would 10/10 recommend!

Had a great time for a few hours at Chateau St Croix Winery on a Monday. The staff was wonderful and explained everything to us about the wines and ports. Great recommendations. They do serve food and they have plenty of light options available. Including cheese platters. They have Happy Hour on Fridays! Outside there is cute Al fresco dining at the entrance patio and covered area in the back. Location is spot on with Google maps, but very few signs prior. Parking is free and plentiful Highly recommend a stop and a tasting!
Jennifer S — Google review
This is a beautiful estate, and hey, they serve wine! It's got an old-school castle 🏰 vibe. They give you tokens for tastings so you can take your time and grab your next drink at your leisure. We hopped around and sat in all the different areas each time we started a new tasting. Overall, it was a very good experience and we will visit anytime we are in the area.

Anna and Irv are so amazing and the sweetest people you could ever meet. The wine is amazing and they have beer. The food is great doesn't matter if you have sweatpants or a suit they welcome everyone. Please come check them out and support them. Awesome and relaxing atmosphere.

Two stars mostly for the chaos and rudeness of two employees. Came in at a very busy time on a Saturday, 9/6, and it seemed pretty chaotic and it was unclear who to go to for what. At one time there were four employees behind the wine bar and no one at the food counter to take our slips. Waited a good ten minutes and had to wave down the cook who was standing behind the wine bar. She is NOT very pleasant at all, rude and offered no apology or concern about how long we had been waiting. Keep in mind, we already paid AND tipped. Suckered. Inquired on pizza because there's no list of flavors. A woman with dark hair helping us called over another employee, Jan, who tossed an ad for pizza at us, but still no list of what kinds offered. When asked what kind of pizzas there were, Jan just walked away. The woman helping us seemed embarrassed and apologized and suggested we ask the, Neena, the cook. When we came up to get another sample, Jan made us go back and get our dirty glasses to reuse. The food prices are up there, good food when we finally got it, but having to be your own server/busser at those prices is pretty lame, ESPECIALLY when they expect tips! So all they're doing is pouring wine and it's that chaotic??? Two girls seemed to be on it, the other two (Jan and the cook) looked to be in the way and again, rude. Really good wine, though. Probably won't return and sit in as there seems to be little structure, the rudeness is unwelcoming, and in a place like with the prices they ask, we don't expect to wait on ourselves or clean up. Might pick up a bottle of wine here and there.

Our family had a great time at Big Rock Creek. 13 of us stayed at the Clubhouse. What a beautiful and historic home. Everyone loved swimming and playing in the lake, line dancing, and movie night. We loved seeing the deer around the property. The wrap around porch was the best place to hang out and play games. Becky, Brooke, and the rest of the crew were always so helpful. The whole experience had such a summer vacation vibe - relaxed but with something for everyone. We’d love to stay again!

My husband and I went to Big Rock with some friends for the music and 4th of July fireworks. The music was phenomenal and the fireworks were absolutely fantastic! There were food trucks in case we got hungry and great margaritas! We had a great time and plan to go back next year!
Jody D — Google review
I would highly recommend Big Rock Creek if you are looking for a rustic, barn wedding. The venue itself was beautiful and although it rained the morning of our wedding and we weren’t able to have the ceremony outside, we were able to make the bottom level of the barn worked for our ceremony. The venue’s animals were a hit with the guests during cocktail hour and after the reception. They also ended up having a slip and slide and bounce house that some of my little cousins used. They had a blast and definitely burned some extra energy. They had a list of preferred vendors and I would highly recommend Deutschland’s pasta bar - all of our guests were obsessed with the Italian sausage that they make homemade. We also used Complete Wedding for our DJ and Photo which worked well as they already knew the venue. We would also highly recommend pizza for a late night snack. For us it was $30 per pizza which is hefty but they tasted AMAZING so it was totally worth it. As far as logistics go, we had a 200 person wedding and for every extra 10 people over 200 they would charge an extra $100. So we made sure to stick to 200 people. We needed wedding insurance as well a $1,500 damage deposit. I think 200 was the perfect amount. We declined renting any of the permanent structures as those costed quite a bit but did rent campsites which was so fun! The groomsmen went up the night before to camp and hangout around the bonfires and then the rest of the wedding party and some family members stayed the night of the wedding. The staff was very communicative, and flexible as we waited to the last minute to decide to do an inside vs outside ceremony because of the weather. Barb the day of host was GREAT! Shauna was prompt in all of her communication and was very positive and supportive. The bartenders were also so fun and kept up with the orders all night. They have a getting ready room for the girls which was definitely busy (10 people getting ready) but had enough room for everyone. No room for the men so we sent them to get breakfast and then they changed/ got ready in the upstairs bathrooms that are big which worked just fine (but would be nice if they had their own space).

Our wedding at Big Rock Creek was an absolute dream come true! The venue is gorgeous—our guests couldn’t stop raving about the breathtaking scenery and the peaceful, natural beauty of the property. From the picturesque lake to the charming animals and open spaces, it was like stepping into a fairytale. There was truly something for everyone to enjoy. Guests walked the trails, visited the animals, played yard games, cozied up by the bonfire, and even enjoyed a wagon ride and live music. It wasn’t just a wedding—it was an unforgettable experience for all ages! We chose the platinum package, which included full-weekend lodging for our families. It was the perfect way to bring everyone together and start our new chapter. We even stayed an extra day to soak in the peaceful surroundings and were lucky enough to see deer, swans, eagles—and even a bear! The staff at Big Rock Creek was phenomenal—so friendly, responsive, and accommodating every step of the way. From setup to send-off, everything ran smoothly thanks to their support and care. We couldn’t have asked for a more magical place to say “I do.” Thank you, Big Rock Creek, for making our wedding weekend absolutely unforgettable!

I have guarded feelings about being so honest about this place.. for my own selfish reasons..... This place and their family and employees could not be more impressive. So kind, so welcoming, so helpful. The accommodations were top notch and the property was gorgeous. Ken and Kris were excellent hosts and Ben was always available to help. Great property and lots of fun. My fav bartender was just a doll. I called her “Gabby” but not her real name. Marsha was excellent at welcoming us in. I want to keep this a secret as I sincerely adore being there and want it to be available when I want to go. Thanks to everyone for the welcoming stay. We loved it and will be back soon
Heidi G — Google review
The place is honestly pretty dang cool. A different experience of camping for sure. Kayaks, canoes, and paddle boards are all included with your stay. All the owners we talked to were super friendly. I would have given 5 stars but due to them having no dumping station was a bit of an inconvenience for us. We had to pay an additional fee somewhere else to dump it.
Jen M — Google review
Did a fabulous job hosting the 4th of July celebrations! Places to improve would be food trucks. More trucks, waiting time for pizza was outrageous with poor staff. Other choice was bbq but sold out leaving pizza as only option. Music was good but parents with small kids waiting for food didn't seem to enjoy the loud music while wrangling hungry kids
Leah S — Google review
If you’re coming here on 4 July, the slip and slide does not have tubes and it does not go into the lake like it shows on the ad. They say they’re handicap accessible, but the roads are not wheelchair friendly they’re all rocky and they don’t want you driving a car around. I will add more at the end of my weekend here.

My husband and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary and decided to go mini golfing. We showed up late and Doug greeted us and let us know they were just closing up. BUT….Instead of turning us away, Doug went above and beyond and allowed us to play our round. Our experience was amazing! The customer service and course itself made our weekend! Highly recommend and we will be returning with all our friends and family! Thanks Doug!!

Complete rip off! What a joke! Way over priced to start with. $15.00 per person for go carts to take 10 laps. They called us in after 7 laps. Our youngest was going slower and was called in after 5 laps. The go carts are throttled back and very slow. I would not recommend this place. Not the place to take your kids for a fun time.
Glen M — Google review
My wife and I were frantically trying to find something fun to do for our anniversary and we stumbled upon mt croix and unbeknownst to us they had “closed” right when we got there, the owner offered to let us play for free and to just park outside the gate so they could lock up properly. They didn’t have to do that and it meant the world to us, thank you Doug. You have earned our family’s business for many years!
Luke I — Google review
This is the best mini golf course in the area. It's true it could use some updates and repair, but the course is completely functional and fairly challenging. Our kids had fun, and the price seemed fair. The attendant was helpful and pleasant enough. We will return!
Cody T — Google review
If I could give zero stars, I would. There was no safety on the Go-kart, the brakes did not work well when I had used them, and the barriers were not even a whole foot tall. During my time on the Go-kart I had tried to brake so I wouldn't hit the barrier and I had ended up going over and through the chain link fence over them. I now have a broken thumb, many cuts and bruises on my face and head, shoulder, and legs.

Deer Lake Winery is a charming destination that truly embodies the spirit of community and hospitality. Upon arrival, visitors are greeted by the warm smiles of the owners, who create an inviting atmosphere perfect for relaxation. Guests can indulge in delightful treats like strawberry scones and a delicious cheese and fruit platter while enjoying wine tastings featuring favorites such as Grand Raspberry, Malbec, and Chardonnay. The winery also hosts live music on weekends, enhancing the experience with vibrant entertainment.
Nice winery, friendly staff. Heidi was very helpful. Good wines, enjoyed the Malbec and Chardonnay. We also got the Flatbread pizza, quite good! We are Harvest Host members and pulled our 5th W in next to the grapes, enjoyed our stay and left with a couple bottles of wine!

We got there early and met the owners. They are a delightful couple with great smiles and a welcoming presence. Their strawberry scones are great. We enjoyed tasting the wine. They have live music in the evenings. We talked with people from two other wineries and they all talked about how much they appreciated the owners. Very community oriented.

This is my favorite place to chill. Great people. Amazing wine selection. The bruschetta was beyond delicious. They made a fire for us, we played bean bags and frisbee. Sat out by the bon fire and had a great peaceful night. Im so happy we stopped here.

First time there and we were so glad we stopped!!! Each had a wine flight. It was a nice sampler and my favorite was the Grand Raspberry! Num! We also got a cheese and fruit platter. Well, worth the money. Full of cheeses, fruit, nuts, meats, crackers and veggies. Will definitely be back soon!

Very good place and product. Staff was were nice and understanding about the parents and their unbehaving kids and accommodated us very well. Thank you!

I wouldn't give this place any stars. We were there for tasting their wines and none were worth drinking the 1 1/2 tasting cup (served in a plastic cup with a small glass to drink it from). I can see why the place is for sale! They obviously do not know how to make wine. This is not a winery it's a bar!!!!!

Do not I repeat do not order food from here. The overpriced cheese platter comes with 8 crackers and a bunch of fruit for over $20. Our artichoke dip came with double the dip for our few small pieces of toast it came with. Never snack heee again.

Dog park
St. Croix Falls Dog Park, nestled within the scenic Park Rosemarie just east of the Polk County Fairgrounds, is a delightful haven for dogs and their owners alike. Spanning 4 acres, this fenced-in park features two separate areas for pups to frolic freely. Visitors appreciate the ample tree coverage and grassy spaces that provide shade on sunny days, along with convenient amenities like watering stations and trash disposal options. Dog lovers rave about the friendly atmosphere where both pets and people can socialize.
Olivia loves this dog park best. She has made so many friends and loves to be outside running. I enjoy that there are watering stations, poop baggies provided and a trash can. The grass and tree coverage is wonderful. Also nice that there are enough benches around for a wide variety of people to sit.
Johanna A — Google review
Great scenic trail, has many paths to take u just have to watch out for bikers cause trail is very skinny. But beautiful woodsy walk with a little stream of there rain recently.
Timothy E — Google review
Nice dog park, fully fenced. Several benches for the humans to have a seat. A little wooded area to walk through on the path that goes all the way around. Has water for the pups and is double gate to get in. One fenced area for large dogs and one for small dogs. Grass was a little tall but worked ok for my larger dogs.
Julie S — Google review
I am from out if town and need a place to let my lab play. He LOVED IT. I enjoyed the water container there and thought was neat. I was surprised by the forest area. Really pleasant. I hope people do donate to help keep it going!

Usually the time we go in the morning after dropping the kids off at school there is a gentleman with 2 huskies who lets them roam the larger area 90% of the time and one of them is ferocious towards other dogs. He doesn't seem to see a problem with that. No restroom, plenty of parking. Just be prepared to use the smaller kennel depending on what time of day you visit.
Piknik ( — Google review
Would have given 5 but some people think they own the park

We love to walk and play at this park. Wish a certain owner of hambone followed the park rules. Have seen this dog poo and owner ignores it. The dog attacks other dogs, owner does nothing. The DOG WAS jumping up on me many times. All the while the owner sits on her phone and does nothing!

It's a nice park for a small town. There's some open space, a smaller enclosure for smaller dogs, and some wooded area.

Wonderful visual artists...Jack and Karen are good people and wonderful friends and neighbors! Their art work is finely crafted and very affordable. They have a wide variety of eclectic arts and crafts from a broad source of artists. It is great to have such abundance of excellent, local talent right here in SCF. Addendum on 12/20: Jack was commissioned to create a family graphite sketch. He not only provided this beautiful work in a timely manner (in time for my wife’s birthday), but built the frame from raw wood, and provided the museum quality glass (no yellowing or deterioration of the work). Very high quality work...thanks Jack!
