Nice building in and out. It got its name, Starlight when there was no roof. They shave a roof now and still have a stage and dancefloor. Nice range of food for all. The chicken fried Texas antelope was tender, unique and delicious. The gravy was based on lone star beer . It was thick and the flavors of beer present from first to last bite.

Wereso glad we changed our dinner plans and went to Starlight Theatre instead. Great atmosphere, tasty food, and super friendly service. Genna was our server and she was fabulous! Don't miss this restaurant if your in Terlinqua!

Make sure you get a reservation!!! If not, you’ll be eating at the bar or later in the evening. Place opens at 5PM. Food was very good and sitting at the bar was fine. Very busy when they first open but seems to go quick as most are there to fulfill their bucket lists. Lol. Very friendly staff and a full bar.

Arrive early (or late) or wait for a table, but it's worth it. We went Friday night around 7 and it was a two hour wait, we came back Saturday late and were sat pretty quickly a few songs before the live music concluded. The food is fantastic, don't sleep on the quail with the blueberry sauce... Who knew! Great service, fun atmosphere. It's a good sized place but it gets busy so plan accordingly. Parking is easy with a large dirt parking lot, I mean it is a ghost town right? We split the mixed grill and it was plenty for two.

Good restaurant with variety of options. Tried antelope for the first time. It was good. Didn't blow my mind or anything. Chili was good as well but it is texas style, and I prefer beans in my chili. I had the chicken saute and my girlfriend had salad with grilled salmon. We both enjoyed our dinners and were too full for dessert. Jenna our server was great. They don't do separate checks which is stupid but oh well. Just do the math yourself and they will charge the credit cards accordingly. Highly recommend if you're willing to wait!

My husband and I went to our big bend anniversary adventure. We had our anniversay dinner here and did not disappoint. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was great also. Our server was excellent. If I could give 10 stats I would.

we loved everything about the starlight theatre. the food was very good. we had the brussel sprouts (huge portion), they were fantastic. i had the chicken sandwich and my hubby had the chili. all was good. drinks were great, not a good selection of craft beer so i was forced to drink liquor 😳. i enjoyed both drinks. had a scorpion margarita. the prices are very reasonable. overall we loved it!

The uniqueness of Terlingua surrounds the entrance of Big Bend and is a must stop for anyone that decides to venture into these vast landscapes of beauty. I truly enjoyed the 30 or so minutes walking around the cemetery of Terlingua and taking photographs.

Those buried here include miners and families from 1900s/20the Century to current day. Really eclectic. Each grave unique. Next to the ghost town. Stop and visit. My favorite prayer from St. Gertrude for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory- Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the Masses said throughout the world today, for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory, for sinners every where, for sinners in the universal church, those in my own home and within my family. Amen.

Fascinating place and some extremely old graves. Loved seeing the personal affects added to individual plots. There are some nasty looking bugs crawling around the overgrown bits, so be wary of where you're walking.

Very serene and unique cemetery. Some gravesites are very old. Many reflect the unique individuals who are forever interned here.

Came for the day of the dead celebration. The look of the cemetery is right out of the old West. It's the wood crosses and graves are something to remember. The history is very rich. I have been in the area in both the summer time and fall. Fall is definitely more enjoyable.

Amazing historic cemetery that is still being used so be mindful as you explore. A short walk from the cemetery will bring you to some fantastically photogenic ruins.

Absolutely the most interesting cemetery I’ve ever been too, and I’ve spent time in Louisiana! A dollop of Catholicism, some Texas history, lots of character and even what I’m inclined to imagine was a sincere dose of mourning - The Terlingua Cemetery is the highlight of the Terlingua Ghost Town. Tread lightly and be respectful for every tourist and every ghostly inhabitant there is also a loved one paying their respects.

Had a marvelous time last Thanksgiving, booked a canoe trip and Jeep tour. They were outstanding! I love this company have been using them since 1994.

This is a great place to grab a beverage so you can sit on the porch and enjoy the atmosphere. Lone Star beer is only $10 per 6 pack. They also have tons of souvenirs if you want something to remember your trip by.

Cool gift shop. Its large and has plenty of options for clothing, gifts, or souvenirs.

There were a lot of fun and interesting things to see in the souvenir shop, so it was nice to look around.

We enjoyed looking around the old time general store. The Starlight restaurant was only open at dinner, and it had long wait times, so we didn't eat there. The ghostown was a lot of fun to check out, and the Terlingua history was interesting to learn about.

We loved this place. Close to Big Bend!! You can explore all the property and find anywhere to set up your tent. We found a wonderful spot. Nice to have restrooms on the property that isn't too far away. I enjoyed the shower as well. Very cute setup. We will definitely be back!

What a great place! Not only are you seeing and experiencing history in the making, you have a rich choice of gifts to choose from to take back home to friends and family...coffee from the region, textiles, rocks, precious stones, antiques, etc. Be prepared to spend some time here!!!

The food was good, the coffee was good , but the woman taking orders was a little rude. I understand that having to deal with customers isn't fun. I don't expect much, so I was a little surprised that it felt like a great inconvenience to take my order. Either way, probably wont go back.

The breakfast burrito was amazing, to say the least. The tortilla was fresh with just the right amount of crisp—perfectly toasted without being too crunchy. Inside, everything tasted incredibly fresh, especially the avocado, which added a smooth, creamy texture. You can really tell they care about the quality of their ingredients. We also picked up some local honey while we were there—such a nice touch and a great way to support local makers. Highly recommend this spot if you're looking for a satisfying, flavorful breakfast!

Visited here for late breakfast after a morning hike. The food was delicious, the staff was hard at work cooking up orders fresh, and very nice. Their special of Carne Asado burrito was so flavorful and the tamale was great! Red masa just like my mom made it and the pork filling had a tiny bit of spice. Definitely recommend. We came when the weather is perfect and sitting outside was pleasant.

Rating the food here specifically, our family stayed at the Perry Mansion. However, these ladies know how to make good grub. I had the English Muffin Sandwich; and although my sausage I ordered was forgotten, I’m not upset by the result. Egg was cooked to perfection, the cheese was perfectly melted. The only correction I’d’ve made is I wished that the muffin itself was toasted.

Went here in early 2024 and we still talk about how good the food and coffee here were. Great little eclectic vibe and nice views. It's the perfect spot to grab a breakfast burrito before heading into Big Bend.

We were in town and look this place up to get something to eat before we headed to big bend. The coffee was delicious and the breakfast burrito was so good. The view was beautiful. This is a must for breakfast

Avocado toast was delicious! Friends had tamale and English muffin sandwich that were also delicious. Hot & fresh! Very friendly staff.

This little gem will be a MUST VISIT for us when we visit Big Bend next year. We found this through a friend and we were not disappointed. Fantastic smoke on the brisket and turkey. Excellent set-up with Terlingua Ghost Town as a backdrop. I’ve been to all of the Texas BBQ hit spots and this one is right up there. Ask for Don and get ready to hear some stories! LOVED THIS X 100000!

The brisket and pork ribs were very delicious. The pork ribs fell off the bone. Brisket was very moist. The sauce was tasty! Great atmosphere. You can sit inside or out. When you’re in the Big Ben State Park area of Southwest Texas, stop by the Rustic Iron BBQ.

Pretty sure this was the best brisket tacos 🌮 we have had in our lives. Amazing sausage, BBQ sauce. waffle fries 🍟 This definitely hit the spot after 7 hours of hiking

Had the chopped brisket sandwich. It was HUGE...and delicious! BBQ sauce was great as well. Definitely recommend this place.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! Visiting the area and stopped by here for dinner. Specifically, I had the brisket tacos, turkey, brisket and fries. It was all very delicious and well made. The flavors were 10/10 and so was the service and atmosphere. Also, the beans are delicious 😋 I’m so glad I got to experience this and I hope you do too.

Liked the patio seating on a gorgeous day. We had brisket, tater salad, beans. We come from bbq country so used to great brisket. This was good. We ate it all. We were hungry.

The barbecue here is amazing! One of my favorites I've ever had. The bartender is so friendly and she makes incredible margaritas! Great atmosphere and generous portions!

This is a must visit when in Terlingua. The food is delicious! I had the 5 tacos, stuffed jalapeño, and chips with guacamole. It did not disappoint. The restaurant is an outdoor patio setup and it is so clean and inviting, I just loved it.

the green enchiladas are AMAZING, as well as the rice and beans 🤠 we went by twice to eat them. Also has an amazing view.

This is a tasty taco spot and the perfect first place to stop when visiting. The view of the mountains, the ghost town, the sunset - all phenomenal.

Well, after the hike at Big Bend, we were looking for a good spot to eat and came across this location and loved it! Great atmosphere, the service was really good with the two young ladies moving in and out with orders. Food was delicious and everyone was super friendly. The Tacos were smaller from what I'm used too, but they were super delicious so still give it 2 thumbs 👍🏼 👍🏼. Overall I recommend this spot if you're in the area. Thanks guys! Sorry, didn't take pictures, was too hungry. 😂

The best horchata and tacos al pastor I’ve ever had in the US! The food is like you’re really in Mexico!! The elote corn was fresh and flavorful! Would eat here again in a heartbeat. The tacos were served with different spicy sauces, pickled spicy red onions, and pico. The horchata was so amazing that I had to have another one to go. I’m already wishing I had another one right now! The outdoor seating was enjoyable with the breeze and fans even in the hot evening summer weather. A must try if you enjoy authentic Mexican food!

Went in starving and left hungry. I did keep in mind that this place is in the desert and there is not much of anything but the high prices mixed with almost no meat on my tacos or my husband's enchiladas was crazy. I regret not taking a photo. It would be easier to cook yourself. Would not recommend especially if you are very hungry like I was after being out all day.

Clean comfortable and convenient to starlight theater and boathouse but don’t bother, the food and drink here is awesome. Great staff and friendly service. Comfy bed and updated room/shower. Bring a cooler for your ice (no mini fridge/vending/ice) but enjoyed both nights and the vibe!

Ok, so I wasn't tired after Big Bend and I wasn't looking to do a review, but after one bite of my tostada and a couple of my daughter's fries...I had to. This place was sooo good and filling. They use a pot roast or something on the tostada that has set them apart from any place I've ever been. I had it with a side of the white queso...yum! The atmosphere is nostalgic and encourages you to let your hair down and relax. Definitely going back the next time we hit Big Bend!

We managed to get there right around rush hour. The food was great. Our server, Amy, was awesome! Simplified our ordering with great suggestions. My burger was delicious and the beans I added to my order were scrumptious. We were going to dine elsewhere but didn't feel like waiting 2 hours!! I would recommend this place!!

High Sierra Bar & Grill is a must-stop if you’re anywhere near Ghost Town, Texas. The margaritas are some of the best I’ve had—perfectly balanced, not too sweet, and just the right kick. Their tostadas were fresh, flavorful, and generously topped—definitely recommend trying them. What really makes this place special, though, is the atmosphere. It’s incredibly welcoming, laid-back, and full of character. They’re also super pet-friendly, which was a huge plus for us. Our pup was treated like family and felt right at home on the patio. The staff was warm, attentive, and genuinely kind—hospitality at its finest. Whether you’re just passing through or staying in the area, High Sierra offers a great taste of local charm with good food, strong drinks, and even stronger vibes.

This was our best restaurant experience while staying in Terlingua, Texas. We went back a total of 3 times, to try different menu options, and were completely satisfied each time. The outside seating is the highlight, with such beautiful views of the mountains around you. The restaurant itself is clean and well kept, with friendly and helpful staff. I highly recommend the Chili, the Pulled Pork Tacos, and the huge helpings of delicious mac n cheese. The craft beers available we great and we tried several.

Hotel was blah, but... Great bar! Great bartender and servers! John and Anita are the best! Food was decent and the drinks reasonably priced for the area. But the hotel leaves a lot to be desired. Especially for $350+ a night! The view of Big Bend park is the only thing that really had any value above a Motel 6. I've attached some pics so you can judge the value for yourself.

We did a canoe full day ride to the hot springs area, with a family of 10. 3 kids ages 5,7,7 and they all did great and had a blast. The kids had a paddle in the front which kept them entertained. No one flipped over! We had a great break in the middle of the float with a wonderful lunch that Zach had ready for us after we swam in the river and the hot springs. Billy and Zach were fantastic, they had to help us out of some tight spaces a few times. Even the grandparents did great at 68 years old. It was a big tiresome in the end because it got hot. But overall it was an amazing experience with breathtaking views. Highly recommend it. Worth the price.

We had an awesome experience with Desert Sports. They were so accommodating - we had a Texas State Park pass so they helped us fill out the dashboard sticker in the morning and dropped off the day’s park registration so we could follow them into the park and at the conclusion of our canoe trip continue on our own for more hiking and exploring. The guides were very helpful on the canoe trip with their expertise on the river and helping through low water spots. It was fun to talk with them about local Terlingua knowledge as well as the BBRSP and the Big Bend National Park. Will definitely choose this outfitter again.

We did a 15 mile round trip mountain bike tour with Billy and it was awesome! We got lucky with great weather and conditions for riding. I rented a bike/helmet and the equipment was in perfect condition. The coolest part for me was being able to explore abandoned mines at the end of the trail. Billy made sure to educate us on the history of big bend state park and explain technical spots on the trail that might take a little extra caution. Great experience definitely recommend this to active visitors wanting to see more of the park! Even though we have varying levels of experience mountain biking, the tour felt very tailored to our ability level.

We had a wondering time with Billy and Zach on the river. We had a large group (13 in total) and were able to schedule this ahead of time. We were shuttled by Bobski and Buckner out to the put in spot, loaded up our canoes and took off. Most of us had minimal experience, but both guides were helpful and accommodating. We were able to spend a lovely day swimming, eating an amazing all vegan meal prepped by the guides, and they pointed out lots of different things to see along the river. We were guided through a few smaller rapids, paddled through some still water, and got out to swim several times. Our drivers and guides were so kind and fun to hang out with! We had a blast and definitely would go back again! Desert Sports was super communicative and easy to work with.

My family and I went on an excellent canoe river tour with Desert Sports. Their guide Billy was extremely knowledgeable about the areas flora and fauna, and kept us wonderfully entertained with his West Texas guide lore! We will definitely be back, and hope to rent some mountain bikes for the next excursion.

We loved our raft tour down the Rio Grande with our tour guide. We liked the fact that it was just us on our private tour rather than a group of several rafts. We stopped for lunch and our guide provided a great meal. He was extremely knowledgeable about the flora, fauna and geology of the area and constantly pointed out things to us during the entire trip. All around a great experience. We plan to come back and do a multi day trip we liked it so much.

My buddy and I just spent a week in Big Bend, and we used Desert Sports for mountain bike rentals as well as a half-day canoe tour. Mike (the owner) outfitted us with top-spec bikes, and he spent a lot of time with us beforehand to make sure everything was properly sized and adjusted, and that we were well-prepared for the ride. A great experience all around! Then two days later we met Billy for a canoe tour down the Rio Grande. Billy was AWESOME! He also took his time with us beforehand, making sure we understood the ins and outs of what we could expect out of the adventure. Then once we were underway he was both an excellent guide as well as a great teacher. We came away with a better understanding of the flora and fauna in and around the river, and he also provided a good deal of historical context of the people and geological events that have shaped the modern Rio Grande. A truly amazing guide, and a wonderful experience.

Wonderful little gallery in the middle of Terlingua. So many beautiful paintings, drawings, prints, and crafts. It's owned by multiple artists in the area, so buying your souvenir keepsakes here supports local. It's a definite must see for any art lover !

WE RETAINED SARTOR-HAMMAN JEWELERS OF LINCOLN, NEBRASKA TO VERIFY THE IDENTITY OF THE GEMSTONE AND WERE TOLD THAT THE STONE WAS NOT SAPPHIRE BUT RATHER WAS A LABORATORY-GROWN SPINEL. Amazing variety of beautiful art, super friendly staff.

Some of the most beautiful handmade pottery I’ve ever seen. They are expertly made and intricately hand painted. They also have a variety of painting, jewelry, figures, clothing, etc. I would definitely recommend. I left my wallet in the car to avoid buying something, but I had to go fetch it. The guy there was so friendly and helpful for places to check out around town that locals enjoy.

Awesome place I read about in Big Bend Galleries and Artists booklet. Just to the left of La Posada Espresso y Mas and to the right of Starlight Theatre. It is like 90% local art and then some beautiful hand painted Mexican pottery as well. Loved everything in there. It's actually the only place I've purchased art on our trip out here to Ft Davis/Marfa/Terlingua. Jewelry, paintings, pottery etc. Even cute shirts w prints of local artists paintings. Thank you Enrique! He was manning the desk and has some of his photos and paintings inside as well.

If you go to Terlingua, Earth and Fire is a must-visit. With a variety of beautiful art from local artisans, my friend and I both picked up beautiful pieces from this region which we will always cherish. We also met Enrique, one of the artists, and speaking with him was one of our favorite experiences in Terlingua. Come check it out when you're here!

Great place for a visit before entering Big Bend Ranch State Park. The park Ranger's advice on what to do, what to look out for, and how to prepare was golden. The park is huge, and driving it takes giant blocks of time, and there is next to no one around. The visitor center has drinks, maps, trinkets, and all the miscellaneous you'd expect for a giant park. Don't skip the check-in, or no one will know you're there and not know to try and find you if something goes sideways.

We were wandering the area and saw this Welcome Center. It's run by the parks department and has an excellent little museum inside that gives a brief outline of the history of the area to include the forming of the rocks and dinosaurs and such in the area while also providing information about the natural wildlife and a history of the area and the individuals who have lived there. It was free and had air conditioning which is very very important when you happen to go visiting a place that's like 100° outside but has a feel like temperature of 114. Has a cute little gift shop at the parks department with some items that are related directly to the park and then of course your usual run-of-the-mill bug spray stuff like that. It was actually very clean and very well tended and the Personnel that we met and spoke with were very nice.

Very clean and well maintained. The exhibit is very educational and air conditioned. Also loved the desert garden. Well worth the stop!

Great introduction to the State Park. We walked the grounds and enjoyed the fact that they identify the plants you see in the area. Lots of rabbits and random lizards enjoying the garden also. Hike to the top of the hill provided a nice view of the area. The exhibit at the visitor center is awesome. It’s very well done and an informative to help you understand the area and how it was formed. I learned quite a bit of detail that I had no idea about in regard to the mountain ranges in the area. Make sure you spend some time here!

Small visitor center, the have some apparel, lots of books, memorabilia, trinkets, and other items. The Rangers there were extraordinarily helpful in helping plan my back country stay, pointing out interesting things to go see and visit. Well worth the stop even considering it's where you pay your daily and camping fees.

Very nice center with a large garden area exhibiting many varieties of desert plants. There is a short hike up to an overlook over the Comanche Trail. The employees are great about providing maps and info.

Fantastic! I hit every state park headquarters/visitors center I possibly can, with my state park passport booklet in hand & ready to get a patch for my collection. IMO So far the only visitors center that can compare in quality is South Llano River! Perfectly accessible for my wheelchair, lots of relevant & informative products, abundant information about the park & region, & an awesome employee (Willow) who was so helpful & sweet! Just try to start here before going to the park, because they're many miles apart

I absolutely enjoyed the kindness and quality of service by Sandy! She took great care of us during our two day rental! The Jeep was perfect for our hiking adventures in Big Bend! She gave us some great tips on some adventures to Hot Springs and was the best to work with! Would absolutely rent from them again! 10 stars from me!!!

Everything from booking online, checking in with Sandy the morning of rental and the jeep itself went superbly! The price is reasonable for the hours you get. The jeep was great, comfortable and handled so well on the dirt roads in Big Bend NP. Highly recommend this company for your Jeep adventures in the area.

Jeep was great. AC worked, clean and the Apple Car Play was a big hit. If you have a an old school Garmain take it because cell is spotty

We rented one of Terlingua Jeep Rentals' signature red Gladiators for two days, to run with our Jeep group, since we were unable to trailer our own and haul a camper at the same time. The Jeep Gladiator was clean, came with a cooler, and pick-up and drop-off were really easy. It ran great and we had a blast putting a little mud on the tires in Big Bend. 10/10 would recommend!

Great experience with Terlingua Jeep Rental. Jeep was ready for the time it was reserved. Outstanding customer service. The Jeep was clean and well maintained and ready to drive. Great driving and fun in Big Bend National Park. Highly recommend.

The Jeep I rented was excellent. I thought the rental rate was very fair for the equipment quality. Low mileage. Handled well for a day of off-roading. I would be inclined to give 5 stars, but the in-person rental agent who met me to go over rules and details was rude and set an otherwise perfect day off on the wrong foot for me. After I brushed that aside, the day was fabulous.I would recommend the equipment.

Easy process, booked online within minutes. Soon after, Kathy texted me to confirm my booking. Showed up the following morning to pick up the Jeep, and went through an quick rental orientation and I was down the the road within 5 mins. Highly recommended this!

I do not recommend at all. The place is $42. Not worth it. It’s in a bowl of a hill. You hardly get service, if at all. They had no wifi, I asked for assistance l, they gave me password and still did not work. I asked for a refund, they said absolute refunds because they warned about sketchy wifi. But there was no WiFi. No host available only email. Dogs were loose on the lot. It made me have to wait to leave or go outside until they left. The sewage port was sealed tight. Checked several other stations and they had the same issue until I found one that was broken open. Use another location.

We spent 3 days at Los Gringos. We explored Big Bend National Park and other areas. The campground is rugged and we were worried about the people on the hills dogs when first arriving. We met Mr. Spoons who helped us with wifi, picking our site, and assuring us that the dogs would not be an issue. The dogs were kept up the entire time and we enjoyed the beauty and quietness of the area. We saw the milky way for the first time with our naked eyes and enjoyed absolute quiet when sitting out at night. We didn't have any issues with water, sewer, or electricity. We would stay again if we travel through area.

This place is the cheapest in town for a reason and yet still highly overpriced! It is a very quiet spot and great star gazing, however your rv is parked right next to a junk yard with broken down rusting cars. The bathrooms were absolutely filthy. I’m not expecting resort type quality, but these bathrooms were seriously neglected. Hair everywhere around the sink and toilet and piles of dirt built up in the corners on the floor. Our electricity cut out in the middle of the night on our first night. We moved spots the second night and had no issues. There is no host on site, the only information you will get is an email with instructions to essentially park wherever. WiFi works half the time, we had no service otherwise. All of these things I mentioned I can live with, especially for a brief stay, but not for $42 a night!! Wildly overpriced in my opinion.

This is the second time I've stayed here. Good for a big rig. Not too flashy. Think dusty parking lot. Hookups worked as they should. There is no cell service in this little canyon. so don't expect it. The wifi was there No password provided. 4 phone calls I made to the number went unanswered. Not a text or anything else. Bathrooms can be smokey, but they are clean.

Merely a place to park. Heaven help you if it rains. Still pulling mud off of everything we own. Only one working bathroom. Expensive laundry with limited hours of use. Water is rusty and the pressure was unreliable. Wifi? Hope you like being disconnected for awhile. I wouldn't refer an enemy to stay here. And the owner didn't even have the decency to speak. Will never go back.

I arrived late, and as advertised it was very dark. I didn't know where the office was, so I just picked a spot by one of the lights and parked. Nobody bothered me. The water and electric worked at the rv spots. I got a confirmation email from PayPal, but not the park... so I didn't know the password for the bathrooms. They have a bunch of old cars around. It was a cool place. I'd go back.

I'd stay here again but don't expect a ton. It's a dirt parking lot with trailers around the edge. After I paid over the phone, there was no email confirmation or other check in information. I called back later and they just told me I could pull in at any free spot. No check in process or check out process. I was told the WiFi was broken. We had cell service on the other side of the hill, by Terlingua ghost town, and it disappeared by the time we got to the RV park. The bathrooms are large and have a sink, toilet, and shower. You have to provide your own toilet paper. One bathroom had a working heater. Our spot had power and potable water. No one bothered us. 3 stars.

Our stay here was great for a weekend get away. It’s quiet, clean, and cozy. It’s perfect to get away and disconnect from busy everyday life. Also a short distance from Big Bend national park and other tour guides in the area. I highly recommend staying here and experiencing it for yourself!

Had reservations to stay here. After almost 4 months our reservation was cancelled, they said due to double booking. How do you go 4 months and suddenly realize the place is double booked. So very unprofessional!

A must visit place during your Big Bend trip...Please check art from local artists including the owner Dani...Such a cute little gallery in Terlingua...

If you have time to spare on your trip to Big Bend, stop and let Alice tell you her stories.

First I want to say, don't let the bad reviews sway you, those are clearly written by bland wonder bread people that haven't traveled very often outside of their gated communities. There is nothing "terrifying" about this 72 year old woman. Sure, she can talk your ear off BUT SHE IS AN ELDERLY LADY WHO LIVES ALONE IN THE DESERT?! Like, do yall not have granmas? Anyway, Alice is full of esentric stories, personality, and ghost tales. Deff don't stop by if you're in a hurry. But DO stop by if you want real local tales of Teralingua, a souvenir that has an actual story behind it, and not those mass produced "Big Bend" shirts you'll find elsewhere, and a good laugh. If you're a boring walnut who is scared of a 72 year old lady who might have a heavy hand, then yea - stay away . I left with one trippy looking painting and one unique sculpture. She doesn't take card, you can find an ATM to give her cash OR you can do what me and my wife did, and buy her a bottle of vodka and trade it for some art. Would go visit her all the time if I lived there.

Alice is harmless, don't let the other reviews scare you off. She's eccentric and you will learn about her entire life. Traded 2 pieces of art for a bottle of vodka. Would definitely go again

Many people pass by this place, expecting a cutesy modern studio appointed with neutral palette tones, or overpriced portraits of long-dead native americans, drawn and sold by old white people Well, this is not that. Alice Knight is a legend of Texas music and art. Her stories and art are moving and incredible for those who take the time to LISTEN and try to understand without judgement. Some of her music is available on Spotify and other streaming platforms and she has many CDs and cassettes for sale, as well as her lovely colorful artwork. Alice is a true career artist, and has made it work her whole life through her wiles and talent. You never know the circumstances and situations people go through in life. We are all lucky to be breathing this air and living on this planet. How lucky indeed! You will feel lucky to have met her if you approach with an open mind and compassion. The most creative and beautiful people in this world often live torturous lives at varying times. Try not to judge, and LISTEN! Alice taught me more about life in a few weeks of knowing her than anyone else I know. BTW, most of the trash is cleaned up. Give it a chance :)

My wife and I stopped by the Big Bend Art Gallery on our way back to our AirBNB after a very enjoyable day of hiking and site seeing Big Bend National Park. We mainly shopped outdoors of the art studio and were thoroughly impressed with Alice’s knowledge of the local cacti. Alice is a very special, inviting, knowledgeable artist and entertainer. We left the art studio with a vast selection of cacti and an appreciation for a person that has lived a lifetime in Terlingua. Before we did leave, she invited us inside to see her art and I do agree with a previous review that stated with some organization, sanitation and structure that this art studio is a true gold mine. But for those that live a more judgement free life, you will be grateful to meet Alice, because she is like the stars in the Terlingua night sky, one in a Bazillion.

Alice is one of the most amazing people I have ever met in my lifetime. Been coming here for four years. This space is only for the open minded. If you are going to be closed off to meeting and being around an environment different than what you are comfortable with - don’t come. Whacky to the max but some of the best dialogue I’ve ever had in my entire life was had with the host.

I had been to this gallery in the past and enjoyed it so we came back for another visit. It's a trashed hoarder house now. Garbage everywhere and smells bad. Lady seems nice but also not fully..aware? We had to fabricate a reason to leave just to end the conversation because she wouldn't stop. Just incredibly awkward all around. I feel bad even writing this but I don't want anyone else to have to go through that. If you're insistent on getting art though make sure you have cash
