The Brandywine Museum of Art, situated in Chadds Ford, PA, is housed in a historic gristmill and features an extensive collection of paintings by renowned artists such as Howard Pyle and N.C. Wyeth. The museum's location along the picturesque Brandywine River offers visitors stunning views through its large windows.
Really awesome collection and great staff. I loved the permanent pieces as well as the temporary exhibits. The museum focuses heavily on ties between nature and art, (extremely fitting its role as an art museum and nature conservancy). The plaques by each piece were really well-written and informative which I appreciated a lot. Overall it’s a beautiful, well-curated art museum that feels very thoughtful in its choices. (Also unbeatable prices as far as rat pins go. Like $5 or 6?? Incredible stuff)
Beatrix A — Google review
Very enjoyable museum. Major focus on the Wyeths, of course. Lots of fun pieces by NC Wyeth and Jamie Wyeth. Also a terrific temporary exhibition of photographs from the mid-50s by two young men traveling across the country independently. They are very evocative and tell a very truthful story. Finally, a small exhibition of a early female cartoonist at the New Yorker. She had a wonderful sense of humor, as displayed by many of her cartoons that are part of the exhibition.
Sally T — Google review
I hadn't been here in 40 years. Dad used to bring my sister and I to Chadds Ford every Fall when we were kids. Dad has been gone for five years. My sister and I decided to make the trip to visit the museum and revisit our childhood. Naturally, the museum wasn't as big as we remembered but that didn't stop the memories from returning. It was like visiting old friends. All of the artwork that I knew and loved as a preteen/teen had been patiently waiting for me to return. 😄 We were raised on Wyeth family art and it was wonderful to be back. 10/10 recommend.
Laura D — Google review
This is one of my favorite museums. If you’re on the fence about touring the Wyeth studios, please do so! You won’t regret it- They’re stunning, incredible to see in-person, and the guides are so lovely. Added bonus is the cafe with incredible views while you eat! We’ve gotten the crab cake sandwich twice (it’s genuinely incredible), and recently got the fig/pear grilled cheese. Their cook(s) and cafe employees are doing an incredible job at adding to the experience of being there. Would give 6 stars to Brandywine if I could!
Wendy W — Google review
A beautiful museum both architecturally as well as with the amazing art contained within. Definitely worth a visit. It's well laid out, easy to navigate, curated well, with art that is incredible. And has a small yet good cafe and a parking lot with ample spots. Oh ..on beautiful grounds too.
Pam S — Google review
This wonderful, intimate museum hugging the bank of the Brandywine River, features a collection of art by the Wythe family, as well as other artists and illustrators. Special exhibits and tours of nearby Wythe properties are available. There is a beautiful gift shop and nice cafe on the first level.
Donald P — Google review
Beautiful museum with great views and excellent exhibits, which are curated and labeled well. Extensive gift shop with exhibit-relevant items. Plenty of parking. Cafe looks lovely (closes around 3 pm).
Pamela F — Google review
I love going to the Brandywine Museum. Whether it’s for a special event, to revisit favorite Wyeth art or to take friends to see the wonderful train installation for the Holidays…it’s always a good time. The setting along the Brandywine River is beautiful and the curation is top-notch.

Chaddsford Winery is a pioneering wine estate located in a picturesque 17th-century barn in Chadds Ford, nestled between the Longwood Gardens and the Brandywine River Museum. The winery takes advantage of the Mid-Atlantic Uplands microclimate to produce a diverse range of wines, ciders, and sweet wines. Visitors can enjoy tastings, food fairs, live music events, and even relax by the fire pits outside.
Lovely winery. Numerous sitting rooms and plenty of outdoor seating. Great staff and even better wine. The events are nice as well.
Vittoria — Google review
We love chaddsford! We do a lot of their events for example the adult trick or treat and others. Not sure how long they have been doing this $25 pasta and glass of wine deal but i do not recommend it. The pasta was terrible! It just was not good at all. No flavor at all, consistency was bad. I know they don’t have a kitchen on site but it could have been way better. Now will that keep me from coming back absolutely not. We’ve been going for years and we will continue to attend and support because we generally love the location. We love coming to buy a few bottles and hang out at the tables and chill. We love the events they have every so often. AND obviously we love their wine! I loved that they are trying different things but the pasta & wine deal is a no for me. But everything else is solid! I love when they have food vendors sometimes too. It really is a beautiful peaceful and fun environment that’s family, friend or date friendly. For others dog friendly lol Some of my top faves are spiced apple, sangria, Good vibes only & Niagara!
C — Google review
The wine, vibes and hospitality is top tier. For red, white or sweet wine lovers this winery is it. Friends and I went for the adult trick or treat event and tried five different wines paired with food. Awesome tour guide and learned a lot about the history of the property. Perfect for Sunday fun day!
Schuyler A — Google review
This winery is truly amazing, everything here is so perfectly planned out and set up to make an amazing experience. The staff is super friendly and goes above and beyond to make your experience memorable. In particular I had the pleasure of being served by Aidan, hes just a good guy, there's no other way to put it. Hes very knowledgeable on the wine list and helped recommend an amazing wine.
Logan S — Google review
This by far is a great experience for my Wife, Mother an I to enjoy on such beautiful Saturday i’d like to say the host was amazing 💯. look forward to attending more events again. This establishment needs 10 stars for outstanding the way my Mom enjoyed herself Luv you all…
Lorenzo M — Google review
Fun little day trip to Chadds Ford Winery. Sampled some of their wines. Very dry to very sweet. They do not have their own estate wine. They get the grapes from growers and produce the wine. The winery is quite pretty and has different seating areas. You can bring a picnic or they have food that can be delivered to the winery via your phone.
Laura — Google review
Came here while I was in town visiting my best friend to go to the adult trick or treating event and I gotta say, if you’re an adult… you need to be here! The staff made the experience great and seeing most people dress up was great! Being able to try the wines through an experience like this was fun and I would definitely do it again!

The winery and selection were fantastic. Went for a Newfoundland dog gathering and found myself enjoying the day of big dogs and delicious wines. Two time was the charm, fantastic way to support Newfoundland Rescue and enjoy some good wine. Made it a 3rd time. Great time again..l

The Sanderson Museum, located in the former home of Christian C. Sanderson, offers a fascinating glimpse into both his life and the history of the Chadds Ford area. The museum's collection includes a wide array of artifacts spanning 200 years of American history, with items from significant events such as the Revolutionary War, Civil War, and both World Wars.
I probably visited this museum 20 or 25 years ago, and yet think of it often. Sanderson continues to teach history lessons even in the afterlife. He had such an awareness of everyday history. Most of us only glimpse this at monumental school reunions or funerals. Talk about learning to live in the present. He saved every gift.
Henry G — Google review
Great things collected but the building is so full of mold I couldn't breath after 15 minutes. It's rare when that happens, maybe only 3 times in my life. They should donate his collection to the Smithsonian so it's properly cared for. Such a shame I couldn't even see everything there.
Eric K — Google review
Very informative staff. The collection is pretty impressive and each piece has a story behind it. Would definitely suggest if you're in the area and especially if you're doing the battlefield tour. Thanks for the experience.

I loved coming here. So cool to look at all the vendors treasures. It has two levels and an endless amount of stuff. Would totally come back here and look when I have more time!

Good place. Big. Lots of dealers variety. In some items, they have a high price which is you can find in other places in the same area cheaper. Stuff are friendly and helpful. It’s recommended to take a look or walking in the weekend. You can find some very old antiques which are really antique!
Ghazal G — Google review
The booths Mimi has is wonderful. She was so sweet. Very stylish and inexpensive jewelry, it’s right in front of the booth where the American girl dolls are on the top level, to the left of the entrance door. The booth with the American girl dolls is also Mimi’s. The only reason it’s not 5 stars is because my boyfriend was followed around and for a second there I was too which made me want to leave, thankfully that was after I got my jewelry from Mimi. Definitely will be returning for some more jewelry. All the other booths mostly have dirty overpriced jewelry and junk honestly.
Amanda S — Google review
Good selection of items from rugs, art, furniture, and decor to minerals and estate jewelry. Make sure you check out Pat in the corner by the Rock Shop on the bottom floor. She has one of the best and coolest selections of jewelry and her prices are much more fair than other vendors.
Colin S — Google review
My girlfriend found the engagement ring she wanted here. It was in a display case right near the entrance. Price was $2000, unmarked, no information, was not marked “FIRM” on price. Claimed it was Emerald, Diamond, and Platinum. I wanted to make an offer and they told me that they had no contact info for the seller. What a lie, how can you have items in consignment and have no contact with the seller. I questioned the rings authenticity and wanted paperwork or proof. So we went downstairs (how convenient) to the antique shops own jewelry store and they tested the jewelry. Told me exactly what I wanted to hear. I only purchased the ring because my girlfriend said it was the one. But to lie to me and tell me it’s impossible to contact the sellers about their products is just poor service. They value their profit that much they won’t let anyone make offers. Even if 90% of the store’s items should’ve been thrown away instead of stocking the shelves.
Zach C — Google review
This place is fantastic! So many great vendors with a ton of amazing items and fantastic prices. The rocks in the basement take up way to much space, but if you like rocks then it's probably not big enough. I don't like rocks so it seemed way to big for me, but the rest of this place was great! Not nearly as big as other places I've been to and wouldn't travel hours to go here, but since I live close it's definitely worth the visit! If you're in the area then you should stop by. Only if you like antiques though. If you don't like antiques than you probably wont like a giant antique store. Or you will. I'm not your dad. Check it out or don't. It's really cool though.
Rob L — Google review
Big space packed with eclectic stock and great vintage finds , perfect for meandering through. Did not even have time to explore the second floor. Almost everything I reached for cost more than I wanted to spend, but we did come away with a few treasures. The kids especially loved the stones and artifacts in the second half. Nice vibe. Friendly staff. Nice way to spend a few lazy hours.
Morgan T — Google review
Horrible customer service, as soon as we entered we giving the rules of the store and got told our bag was too big when it wasn’t big at all. Didn’t make shopping a fun experience. Way better Antique stores in that area that are not strict. There was a women in the store with a larger bag then ours and the booths were huge not tight at all. I would never go back. Learn BETTER customer service.

Nestled in the picturesque Brandywine Valley, Brandywine Prime is a delightful dining destination that exudes charm and sophistication. This upscale restaurant offers a menu brimming with traditional American fare, featuring mouthwatering options like juicy steaks, delectable crab cakes, and succulent scallops. Housed in a beautifully restored 1703 stone cottage, the ambiance is both elegant and inviting, showcasing original architectural details that enhance its unique character.
I had a phenomenal anniversary dinner here tonight. The oysters were so fresh! The octopus was very tender. The fried mozzarella was delicious. The steaks were cooked perfectly. Even the house red wine was delicious. We can’t wait to come back!

What a lovely dinner option! We visited during restaurant week, and their special menu was fabulous. Our party of four had filet mignon, steak au poivre, salmon, and mushroom pasta ... Portions were perfect, and all of the dishes were delicious! The grilled salad was a delight, and the desserts were also great. This venue has a lovely upscale yet rustic feel. Very comfortable! Highly recommend the "Respect Your Elders" cocktail. The service was wonderful, and we very much enjoyed our entire experience.

We have gone here for many years on special occasions because it is near the gardens and other stuff. Brandywine prime has absolutely fantastic food and service! Lately I've been especially in love with the fantastic locally sources mushroom dishes. Don't miss the kennett square mushroom tart!
Charles F — Google review
The visit started off a little shaky but in the end it was great. The server was knowledgeable and there each time we looked up. The filet was a little light on taste and I was really surprised because that's their specialty. However my wife loved the tartare and it was the highlight. They closed us out with a great anniversary desert which was a nice touch.
James J — Google review
Looking for a good steak place and was pleased to find Brandywine Prime. Wife and I came here on a Tuesday night and got a table no problems. Would recommend getting a reservation towards the weekend. We each ordered a mid priced steak and was not disappointed. Extremely flavorful and tender. The atmosphere was warm and cozy. Great place for a date. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful with the menu. Will go back again next time we are in the area.
Steven M — Google review
Traveling from out of town. We decided to eat here because, if I'm correct, the restaurant is in a former house/hotel/tavern that dates back a couple of hundred years ago and I'm a sucker for stuff like that. We had reservations so were seated right away. The waiter was a really nice guy and answered any questions we had. I ordered a coffee rubbed sirloin with melted blue cheese. We waited almost 45 minutes for our food to come out. My steak was cooked to my requested temperature but was extremely tough. We ordered desert to go, had a bit of a wait for that to come out, then an additional wait for them to settle our bill. Overall, it wasn't the worst restaurant experience I've ever had but for the money we spent we were pretty disappointed in the quality of the food and speed of service. We'll pass on this place the next time we're back this way.
Laura D — Google review
Wonderful food, service, ambiance, and selection! Also, great happy hour! My wife and I went in for a drink and wound up staying for hours! The groovy blues music in the background didn't hurt either! We'll be back.
Mike B — Google review
Went there because I heard that the steaks were good, well they mediocre at best for the price. You would think that dry aged would have flavor but me and my party thought the same very bland. The service was great and shoutout to Michael for a wonderful experience. We will not be returning any time soon. Spent $$$$ for a $$ meal

The Great Pumpkin Carve, hosted by the Chadds Ford Historical Society, was an enjoyable event. Although slightly expensive, the improved traffic flow made it easier to navigate through the crowds. The evening featured a variety of creatively displayed pumpkins and provided a lovely experience. Additionally, Chadds Ford Day 2022 proved to be a special occasion filled with family-friendly activities. Numerous tents showcased historical items and arts and handcrafts, while food trucks and live music added to the festive atmosphere.
Loved the history here and the people working there were very passionate about the society and property.
J S — Google review
We went to the pumpkin carving festival, it was very expensive!! And many of the carved pumpkins were not ver impressive for that price , you paid to get in then the shops were so overpriced bread that I was looking forward to buying ( because I bought some at a chadds ford day’s event a couple of years back that was delicious it was an onion flavor bread) it was double the price from a previous event and it was supposed to be a garlic bread but it was filled with Italian seasoning and didn’t taste like garlic bread very disappointed with it. The music was good you could dance around. I won’t be going back to any events here it was so expensive and not worth the money. Also friends of mine we’re paying I think close to $10 for a drink beer/wine 😔 the reason of a 4 star review is because this would be extremely fun for kids because they don’t think about money.
Angela E — Google review
We had 5 kids in our family attend camp here this summer. It is the best day camp we’ve ever attended: low key, small, so interactive and educational, and fun. We attended all three weeks and brought cousins for one of them. The kids made paper, marbles, candles, engraved wood, played with water, sifted for artifacts, found a fish weir in the Brandywine. They baked delicious bread in a colonial oven. The counselors are the best: Sandi, Spencer and Ryan were all so engaged and interested themselves. The kids love them. We’ll be back to help out with History Days and will do this camp until the kids age out.
Karen M — Google review
The pumpkin carving festival was fantastic. Very well laid out, good food, good music, cute little haunted trail for the kids. Good craft vendors. A nice hang out for a while on a beautiful autumn evening.
Kim P — Google review
We attended the Great Pumpkin event here and it was amazing!! 80 giant pumpkins carved by all different talent levels. So many people coming together with nothing but excitement for the season. A great place for people of all ages to enjoy. The bathrooms are portapotties, and they were gross and out of TP, and the traffic in was over an hour to just go 2 miles. Next year police need to monitor the light at the main road, not just at the parking lot. Over all it was a beautiful way to start the season.
Stacey C — Google review
Regularly attend the pumpkin carve and it is always fun but patience is required. Parking in the meadow is crowded at this popular event, but they keep the flow moving. Lots of food truck options as well as local crafters.

Very informative tour of the NC Wyeth’s home and studio. Great tour guides (chat up the bus driver! Another knowledgeable source!) Impromptu tour, free with the museum membership. Recommended to me to view the NC Wyeth home before touring the Andrew Wyeth home. Great weekend plans! About an hour tour with the bus ride.

Loved seeing where NC Wyeth created his work. My wife is an artist and she was drooling at the set up he had. It was interesting seeing his home and the studio next door. More interesting was seeing all the props he had a models and other items to use as references for his paintings.

Great place with open meadows for walking on natural grass surface through the powerline cuts. Both Baltimore and Orchard Orioles nest here, something to certainly look out for when walking through here.

Mostly open meadow trail, good for sunny, cool days. Three access points for parking. Connects to Brandywine Museum and the River Trail.

First time trying the trails - beautiful out here, just ignore the huge power lines. There’s some minor construction going on so I’m not sure where you’re SUPPOSED to park, but the parking lot behind the post office across the street is pretty big. Good signage, clear paths with history of the area set on posts throughout the trails, you can definitely get in a little quiet time before grabbing a coffee or a great taco at the little shops right next door.

Across the street is the historical society. There are picnic areas and places to walk around as well. The parking is free.

We absolutely loved visiting this place even though we visited during covid and couldn't go inside. How lucky we are that this historic location was preserved for future generations.

We came to enjoy the falls and stumbled across ice cream on the way back to the car. Pup approved! 🐶

A Treasure of beautiful art from the Wyeths & many other notable artists with the serene backdrop of the Brandywine Creek, Hoffmans Mill and historic Chadds Ford Village. Take it from a 50+ year Chadds Ford native, this is a can't miss stop on your tour of the Delaware Valley.

Historical landmark
The Benjamin Ring House, located in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, is a historically significant farmhouse that served as General George Washington's headquarters during the Battle of Brandywine. This 1731-built homestead was owned by Benjamin Ring, a Quaker farmer and miller. It was strategically situated near Chadds Ford to provide easy access for Washington and his generals to plan their military strategy before the battle. The house witnessed pivotal war councils and played a crucial role in the American Revolution.
House built by Thomas G. Clark in 1731. Benjamin Ring had owned the home. As the home was owned by a quaker, the land was used as a farm and a mill until the American Revolution broke out, and General Washington and his men had quartered on the land. George Washington used this home as his head quarters, which currently sits where the Battle of Brandywine occurred September 11, 1777. After the war, the building was used as a hotel and tavern. On September 16th, 1931, a fire severely damaged the building but was rebuilt and restored in a Colonial style building as the original. When I went into the home, I was fascinated at how close the park did what they could do, making it as historically accurate as possible. I felt like I was back in the time and could see the battle before my eyes. It's also interesting how Quakers lived. The atmosphere was probably wild during the time seeing how the home was when they ran it as hotel and tavern. It's so fascinating.

Step into the pages of history at the Benjamin Ring House, where echoes of the American Revolution still resonate! 🏡🇺🇸 This historic homestead, nestled in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, proudly served as General George Washington’s headquarters during the pivotal Battle of Brandywine. Built in 1731, the house witnessed strategic war councils and the valiant efforts of the Continental Army. Today, it stands as a testament to the resilience and spirit of the American people, inviting visitors to explore its storied rooms and imagine the whispers of plans that shaped a nation. The Benjamin Ring House isn’t just a building; it’s a chapter of American heritage waiting to be discovered by history buffs and curious minds alike!

Not what I expected. Very sparsely furnished. Almost bare. It certainly gave me the impressing of great simplicity and even hardship. Thesefolks must have been really sturdy!

September 2022 Washington was here a couple days during the Battle of Brandywine. The house is in great shape and it's a nice piece of Revolutionary War history to take in.

The Ring house, owned by Benjamin Ring, a Quaker farmer and miller, served as Washington's headquarters before and during the battle. The house was well situated on high ground near Chadds Ford where the British were expected to cross the river. Washington used the house to plan his battle strategy, meeting with his generals on September 9th and 10th, 1777.

Brandywine Battlefield Park Visitor Center is a captivating destination for history enthusiasts and casual visitors alike. Nestled within a picturesque landscape, the park features inviting picnic areas, an engaging visitor center filled with informative exhibits, and a charming museum shop. As you stroll through the grounds, you'll encounter several well-preserved Revolutionary War-era buildings that tell stories of the past.
I walked into the visitor center to find a gift shop, and not only that but an entire room of exhibits. What I found fascinating was the big wooden spike they found in the Delaware River and very detailed facts of the entire battle as it commenced including attire, weapons, wounded, and casualties. I absolutely loved it!
Nick M — Google review
Super interesting historical site where the battle of Brandywine took place in 1777. The visitor center includes a small but fascinating museum. I was fortunate to get a personal tour from one of the guides who was dressed in period dress and knew a ton of interesting details about the battle and the site.
Nils P — Google review
The people working here are amazing. They were renovating the restrooms at the time of our visit. There was a delightful reenactment going on with people in colonial dress learning how to dance.
J S — Google review
Even if this were not the site of a significant engagement between British and Colonial forces, a part of George Washington's desperate campaign to prevent the Brits from occupying Philadelphia, the Brandywine battlefield park is a wonderful place to visit. The grounds are lovely, as is the small but excellent museum. The historic buildings still in place are well maintained. They beautifully illustrate the guide's excellent, lively explanation of the events that took place there on 9/11/1777, and beyond. All in all, a small but wonderful place and well worth the visit. Just keep in mind that Brandywine Battlefield is only open on Fridays and Saturdays. Highly recommended!

Nice Park, but i couldn't reAlly get a feel for the battle here, since its not well signaged on the site. Also- footpath and footpath sights would really help. There are very nicely preserved buildings here

Penns Woods Winery is a wonderful way to spend a casual afternoon. They offer live music at a beautiful setting with the vineyard as the backdrop! Staff are amazing and knowledgeable. Most importantly, the wine is exceptional! The pinot noir rose is a personal favorite but, I haven't met a PW wine that I did not like! There is seating indoor and out, but you can also bring a chair or a blanket as well as well behaved pups.

This is the best winery in the tri-state area. It’s a family, everyone treats you like you are the best part of the family. It’s on a beautiful piece of land, thriving with enjoyment every minute. Delicious, every wine has a special taste, made with love. Support, they are supporting local businesses in the area and helping everyone. It doesn’t matter what time of year you go, it’s amazing. I tell so many folks about this amazing place and come back with delicious feedback. I have been a member for about 13 years now. We just love it.❤️

I love this place! Pennswood winery is a gem of a place with wonderful owners. The wine is delicious and they source everything local. I look forward to any day that I can spend lounging on the lawn sipping rose!
Shannon J — Google review
My wife and I visited this winery recently and we really loved it. We arrived on a Thursday right when they opened, so there were no other customers. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We ordered a cheese plate that was hand crafted and delicious. The wine was generally excellent. My wife had a white flight and I had a red flight and we sampled each others. If I like the wine at a winery, I usually try to buy a bottle or two. We purchased 4.

This is my favorite winery! To start, I haven’t had a wine here I don’t like. The tasting room is so neat, the staff is incredibly knowledgeable and welcoming. The outdoor seating is incredible with the shade sails and tables. To top it off they have amazing events, including family friendly ones with vendor markets that support small local businesses. If you haven’t tried it go! It’s truly the best!

Great atmosphere with amazing workers. Fantastic scenery with great grape. Go to the end of the fence while everyone is occupied with the live music to sneak into the vineyard and eat grapes.

I love the atmosphere at Penns Woods. Especially during the warmer days when you can spend the day in their outside area. It's a great place to bring your pups for a picnic and just relax all day. I have been a member of their Wine Club for a year now and can definitely say that the benefits are worth it. They really make you feel like you belong. I have been to quite a few of the local wineries in the area and Penns Woods is definitely my favorite.

Great fenced-in areas for dogs to run off leash! It's a bit of a walk from the parking area through mowed meadow paths to get to the dog park.
