Hidden River Cave & American Cave Museum offers tours of its vast underground caves, an educational museum, and a thrilling zip line course. The walking tour showcases imprinted concrete tiles featuring the cave's diverse species and sponsors who have contributed to its preservation. Visitors praise the knowledgeable and friendly tour guides who provide insights into the cave's history and wildlife. The cave's cool temperature and steep steps add to the adventure, while a swinging man-made steel bridge stands out as a highlight.
This is a VERY unique cave, so if you've seen others don't pass this one up thinking it's like everything else. I've seen dozens, and this one is a must visit. The suspension bridge and infrastructure put in place is fantastic, but also be prepared for a lot of stairs. If you've got a health condition this one will be challenging. For everyone else, you can do it! And you should. Our guide, Jay, was fantastic, which also makes a big difference. But I'm sure all the guides are great.

Rod was our tour guide through the Hidden River Cave and she was awesome!! Very informative, sweet, lighthearted and friendly. Rox made a few lil jokes along the way. I’d recommend this tour as it’s totally different then some Of the caves we’ve seen. Not many formations of stalactites or stalagmites but more like what I’d think the moons surface would be like. Hidden River Cave also holds the world record for the longest underground suspension bridge. Pretty cool 😎

Everyone was so friendly and super helpful! The cave was very interesting with lots of history and interesting features. The pathways had lights along them and most had railings. They were accommodating to my use of a cane for balance and were even dog friendly, on couple brought in their very well trained Jack Russell. Partway through our tour an employee named Cole that was inspecting the lighting joined us and helpfully lighted some of the paths and provided information that we couldn't here from guide since we were at the back of the group. I would recommend anyone interested in caves visit as it is a wonderful place!

We visited Hidden River Cave & American Cave Museum in Kentucky, and it was such an amazing experience! The tour guide was fantastic ,she gave us so many interesting details about the history of the cave, the old filtration system they used for water, and how the cave once played an important role for the local community. You could tell she really loved what she does! The cave itself is breathtaking, especially with the lighting that highlights the rock formations and makes the whole place feel magical. Walking down into the cave and hearing the river flow beneath was such a unique experience. The museum upstairs was also very informative and worth visiting before or after the tour. We absolutely loved it and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Kentucky!

Jack, our guide, was very upbeat, informative and willing to find the answer to any questions he couldn't answer. Pace was nice, stopping frequently to explain different areas of the cave. Suspension bridge was a nice change from other cave tours. Museum is set up nice with lots of information. Make sure you can go up and down a lot of steps, there were a total of 600+.
Ruth P — Google review
Jay was an awesome tour guide!! Amazing that these historic treasures still exist so that we can physically enjoy them. LOTS of stairs however...on the way down into the cave there are many, and once in the cave there are stairs but you can rest on platforms while your guide is talking. You can pretty much stop whenever you need to take a few minutes. The only thing I will warn, on the way out of the cave you have to go up the stairs that you came down to get into the cave!!! You can go at your pace taking breaks as needed. I am 6m post lumbar fusion and I was able to get it done 😀 holy moly it was a workout!! Also to note, in my group we had dogs and smaller children, so it's very Family 💜 friendly!

Searching for something to do going north on I-65 we discovered this cave in KY. So glad we did. Dylan gave us the tour. He was very knowledgeable. We would recommend you visit this cave. It doesn’t take long and good leg exercise. I’m sure this place is very busy in the summertime. We visited off season right before Thanksgiving.

Stopped by this little town to experience the hidden cave! The opening to the cave was absolutely gorgeous. The descent was easy and feeling the temperature change to be warmer was super cool. The huge domes were amazing to see. Huge shout out to our tour guide Al, he made the experience so much fun and he even took a moment to entertain our unhappy toddler.

Breakfast restaurant
5 Broke Girls is a cozy and no-nonsense restaurant that offers tasty food at reasonable prices. The setting is described as reminiscent of eating in your grandma's kitchen, with comfortable booths and tablecloths on the tables. The breakfast menu features fluffy and buttery biscuits and gravy that are highly recommended. The lunch offerings include a loaded burger with onions and mushrooms, excellent mashed potatoes, thick and fresh onion rings, perfectly spiced green beans, and flavorful schnitzel.
Rustic, with small town charm. My wife ordered the fried chicken sandwich (sweet and spicy?) and fries with all the fixins. I had a Heart burger and onion rings. Excellent food. Great service. It's not fast food, so come in prepared to relax and spend a little time.
Tom T — Google review
4 out of five stars. Because that’s life! Not everything is perfect you c. The food is a little different in the way it’s made. Maybe it’s the Texas thing. It’s not the way I like it….. but the chicken livers was hot and lightly crispy golden brown. Very good! The appetizer twisty taters with cheese sauce was very good also. Not recommended is the soup beans with cornbread. Not the deep down southern taste, but desire that just me friendly staff and relaxing atmosphere if visiting in the summer wish their units worked better restaurant was very warm inside the time we visited.
Derick T — Google review
The food is good. I had chicken livers, green beans and onion rings. Sonya had country fried steak, green beans and mashed potatoes. The livers were really good. Portion sizes are large and prices are quite reasonable. Service is a little slow due to short staffed but they have a sign warning you in advance but that being said, the staff that was there was working hard, like at a dead run trying to keep up. I was impressed with their work ethic. They served Sonya's Ice tea and my water in small pitchers which I thought was pretty cool.
Andy S — Google review
After our cave tour, we had lunch at 5 Broke Girls. The food was very tasty and loved the iced tea . We did half sweet, half regular, and they served it in a small pitcher. We each got our own pitcher. Hubby ordered the Hamburger Steak. For his sides, he ordered fried okra, pinto beans, and cornbread. Cornbread was moist and slightly sweet, and the okra was fried just right. I ordered the Hart burger with everything on it with a side of fries. Burger was huge, and the fires were delicious.

Sorry I’m too busy eating food to take pictures of the food but I snapped a couple before the meal. But anyhow; one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. And my party of 10 had a variety of dishes and everyone loved their food. Especially the catfish which frankly was cooked perfectly. I’ll be back super soon. And it’s way out of my way. But well worth the drive. Good stuff. Great find.

What a wonderful place. My family has been here many times, and when I came into town from Minnesota, we brought 7 of us together. The waitress was wonderful, the food was delicious, the atmosphere was relaxing and fun. Will make this a stop every time I'm in town.
Sheila — Google review
The restaurant walking in was super cool and decently decorated. Getting into the seating area the atmosphere was welcoming and warm. The restaurant wasn't busy and they found a nice place to seat our large group pretty fast. We sat down and got our 2 sheet menus each and ordered some regular soft drinks and kids drinks. The kids were served Styrofoam cups while the adults got plastic (odd in my mind). We all ordered on separate checks and noticed all the signs stating this was not fast food and it was cooked to order, we all laughed but got excited about the food at that point. Lots of time went by without a single waitress coming to check on us, to the point I started staring at waitresses and raising my hand trying to get service. After what felt like 20 minutes I just took our cups to the refill station and did it myself. Didn't get anyone to notice I refilled 3 cups and I don't work there (entire staff was female so it should be obvious). Food eventually came out and was super delicious but again we got abandoned by our waitress and we up to get our own boxes before she finally came back. We asked for refills and Togo cups and found resistance on the Styrofoam cup that had a hole in the bottom due to kids being kids. We boxed it all up and waited 15 minutes for our checks and found ourselves abandoned again, so we went to the front and got the checks officially split properly and paid before leaving. I guess we learned why they are still broke with the lack of service to the largest table in the room and the attention going to the owners dog instead of guests.
Anthony P — Google review
Connie was an amazing server. Very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. It did take a bit of time for our food to come out, a little more than 30 minutes for the appetizer, but they had just taken an order for a party of 8. The food was fantastic! Catfish was so tasty! A must eat in Horse Cave, definitely worth the wait for the quality of food!!!

Dinosaur World is a family-friendly outdoor attraction featuring life-sized dinosaur replicas and interactive activities. Located in Cave City, it offers a nostalgic experience amidst other classic roadside attractions. Visitors can explore the park's numerous dinosaur statues, enjoy the themed playground, and participate in fossil digs to uncover treasures like small fossils and shark teeth. The Bone Yard allows guests to excavate a large skeleton from the sand using brushes. Additionally, there are opportunities for gem excavation and educational experiences at the dino museum.
Cute place for adults and children. The park was large enough to make a nice outing, but not too big to walk around comfortably. Overall, I thought it was entertaining and informative. The park itself was clean, admission was fair and the location was good. Plus, they have a HUGE gift shop! I recommend coming here if in the Cave City area.
MJ M — Google review
This is a great place for younger kids. The majority of the dinosaurs are big statues but they fascinated my toddler. The place was clean and well kept up and everyone was really friendly. There is a building with moving dinosaurs which counts be scarier for some kids since it's darker and noisier but my granddaughter lived it. She also loved the playground at the end too.
Barb M — Google review
I would love to give this a higher rating. It's a pretty neat place. Our kiddo enjoyed it. And for the price, it's really a good deal. Our main complaint would be that it was mid September and there were so many cheap Halloween decorations scattered everywhere that it really took away from the experience. Our son was really disturbed most of all by a bloody skeleton that was being run over by a push mower. I'm all for Halloween themed things. It just seemed like this wasn't really the time or the place. Otherwise, it's probably worth a stop in.
Kailey S — Google review
A fun experience for the family. There’s an outdoor garden walk with life-size statues and an indoor area with moving animatronics. We purchased the excavation pass tickets for the kids which let them do gemstone mining and a fossil dig in addition to seeing the park.
Tom S — Google review
This was a fun trip. The younger kids had a good time and really enjoyed the moving dinosaurs. The dinosaurs trail was very informative and great with the Halloween decorations. They did a great job decorating for the holiday! The fossil dig was a little pricey for what you get, but the kids had fun.
Jason M — Google review
This could have been a really great experience but ended up being horrible. The dinosaurs were decorated with very inappropriate Halloween decorations. Every dinosaur exhibit was covered in skeletons. My 2 year old LOVES dinosaurs and would have loved this had it not been for all the skeletons. There were skeletons sitting on the dinosaurs, being eaten by them, hanging by the neck from the trees. Very inappropriate decor for a kids amusement center. Whoever approved those decorations is sick. Very disturbing and ruined the experience.
Natalie W — Google review
This was a great place to visit. Life size dinosaurs and super informative throughout the site. It's a nice walk, recommend wearing comfortable shoes. If you have young children that are fascinated with dinosaurs this is definitely a place to bring them. There's a nice picnic table area where we sat and had a snack we brought. The gift shop is AMAZING and NOT JUST FOR KIDS. Lol. I got a few stones that were pretty incredible if you're into that. Celestine and citrine. Beautiful huge Amethyst stones. To top it off, they have a small yet really inviting indoor museum that showcases a few dinosaurs. Cute area with a few outdoor activities. Overall, it's definitely a fun place to experience. It was super memorable. FYI: I would just pay when you get there. They have a special right now and in person it's cheaper. I purchased my tickets online thinking I was saving. When we got there, I was pleasantly surprised we could've saved a bit more. Just pay when you get there. :)

Drove past this place many times and never stopped. Thankfully, we got tickets to the Tyler Childers pop up show and drove down. Felt like a kid again going through the shop on the way into the show. Everyone was very friendly and the place was very clean. The show was incredible and was the perfect setting for fun evening out.

Explore the wonders of Onyx Cave and Rock Shop, a subterranean marvel discovered in 1971 and opened for tours in 1973. Embark on a 30-minute guided tour to witness breathtaking formations like cave coral, cave bacon, Waterfall Wall, and Drippy Room. The on-site rock shop offers an array of rocks from around the world, including geodes, fossils, minerals, and jewelry.
Such an awesome tour and experience! Groups are small 10-12 people so you can actually hear the guide. Cave formations were amazing and the accidental cave find was a cool story to learn! You’ve gotta see this cave! Passage does have steep staircases and can be slick, however, our tour consisted of kids (6years old) and an older woman (60 years) who were able to make it through. Tour guide was super upbeat and knowledgeable!
Annie O — Google review
I'm really glad we didn't pass by this place. The rock shop by itself was cool and had a lot of interesting pieces. The cave tour was great and our guide was really informative. Aside from seeing amazing cave formations, we were able to spot some creatures along the way (salamanders, spider, and cricket). It was just our family on the tour so we were able to take it all in without the pressure of a big group rushing us along.
Alex C — Google review
My kids and I discovered our LOVE fo cave tours one summer ( TX is HOT 🔥 but caves are always cool lol) and have enjoyed them since. Since this was our first time in Kentucky, we HAD to stop in the Cave City area. Mammoth Cave was closed (due to holiday) but this was a GREAT option for beginners. Easy walk, interesting features and I LOVED OUR GUIDE, Laura.
Jehan B — Google review
I did extensive research across Kentucky and Tennessee for cave tours that were less strenuous for my party. Since Mammoth Cave was closed because of the government shutdown, this was our only option. I appreciated how much detail they provided on their website about the amount of time (~30 min) and stairs (60 total, ~30 at a time). However, I wish they had specified the tight squeezes required at at least 4 locations along the path and low ceilings (see image below). Something to be aware of for tall and large people. We stopped here as a rest stop on our road trip for the cave tour, but also enjoyed looking through their rock shop. We waited 15 minutes for the tour to start, which was great considering we didn't buy tickets in advance. We had 4 people total on our tour, which was the ideal amount. We enjoyed our tour guide Jordan, he was knowledgeable and had a clear passion for the cave, it's history, and geology.
Amber — Google review
We came during the off season, not sure what to expect, and we had a blast!! This was a three generation crew, and each of us thoroughly enjoyed our trip through this cave. From three years old to 65, the stairs were doable, the squeezes were possible for someone wearing a 3XL, and my 6 foot tall brother in law wasn’t hitting his head the whole time. I appreciated how brief and well light this was. The folks in the gift shop were very kind and answered any questions we had before, during, and after the tour. Cute souvenirs too. Before you come to this city, check what is open or closed during the off season. Highly recommend staying at Jellystone down the road.

Friendly staff , loved the shop and items they had out ! I got me a little turtle to support The TurtleMan Foundation and also had a blast with the cave tour and sifting through their buckets they had available!! The cave was beautiful and the tour guide was very passionate about the stories behind each part of the cave we were shown ! 10/10 will be recommended friends & family !!
Lauren L — Google review
This rock shop is phenomenal. They had some of the best labrodorite I've ever seen. The lady who owns the shop walked around with me and my daughter for about an hour showing me all her favorite pieces. Her and the other guy who worked there were very knowledgeable and gracious! Ty so much! We had a blast!! We will definitely come back for the tour!

Onyx Cave was AMAZING!! Totally different from the Mammoth Cave experience. . so many incredible formations right next to you! We left Mamoth Cave and came here & it was honestly way cooler!!! Don't miss this stop!!! The staff was great ! Phoebe was so sweet & led us on a private tour! The rock shop had lots of cool gifts at great prices! Highly recommend stopping in & taking an Onyx Cave tour!

Mammoth Cave Wildlife Museum is Kentucky's first and largest wildlife museum, spanning over 14,000 square feet. The museum features rare and exotic taxidermied animals such as lions, tigers, bears, insects, snow leopards, and more. Visitors can explore the air-conditioned exhibits on rainy or hot days to see these animals in natural-like environments. Additionally, there is a butterfly room showcasing bugs and butterflies.
I had never heard of this museum BUT I love animals of any kind. My wife took me here as a surprise and I can't help but thank her so much for this treat. All animals are appropriately represented in their habitats and in tasteful poses. I really like big cats and bears and they have amazing exhibits. The building and layout of museum is 1970s swanky cool, I love the architecture. The gift shop was filled with vintage items from the 1970s to present. ( i left with a shirt and refrigerator magnets and a pencil made of rocks) 10/10 recommend
Daniel R — Google review
We went to every cave in the south central KY area, but this place was my absolute favorite attraction. I'm a huge taxidermy / oddities fan, and this collection is unlike anything I have ever seen. The museum space itself is surreal and beautiful, and of course the woman working that day was so sweet and welcoming. Getting to walk the whole place alone was so special, I cant wait to come back
Jane A — Google review
I’d love to know more about whoever put the amazing bug collection together. Moths, beetles, and stick bugs, so many specimens from all over the world, and in such good condition! Then there’s the taxidermy critters. It’s fun to wander around and check out all the stuffed animals. I kinda wonder who decided to stuff a skunk or three. Of course the moose is epic, as are the bears, but the little critters are fun, too. I’m glad we made time for this stop. If you like stuffed toy animals, particular ones that are life-like, you’ll love the gift shop. It has all sorts of fun trinkets for the folks back home.
Ruth A — Google review
Couldn't go the full 5 stars due to the service at front desk. It doesn't hurt to smile, especially when a family drove 455 miles to visit your location while viewing other stops like "caves!" The history & detail was AWESOME though & really worth the while and attitude at the front.........she must've had a mean game of Solitaire goin' on her phone that morning!! Oh yeah and way too overpriced!!
Steven M — Google review
This reminds me a lot of Call of the Wild in Gaylord, MI. This is something every kid will love! Admission price was reasonable , and the staff is very friendly. The displays are very well kept, and look great!
Sonic D — Google review
You will pay an additional 3% surcharge if you use a credit card. Mammoth Cave Wildlife Museum is a very interesting place, and rather unique even on a national level. It houses a very large collection of taxidermied animals (and amazing butterflies and bugs) exhibited in various appropriate displays with a “cave-like” feel as the overall setting. You will see animals up close you never could in person (the Moose is HUGGEEE, and so is the polar bear), and the level of excellence executed (no pun intended) is astounding; many of the animals truly look alive. I personally enjoyed the experience as it was quiet with not at lot of people, so it gave me time to really take it all in. And in all honesty $8.95 is more than a bargain. With that being said, the collection itself is probably fifty years old or so, and while 99% of the displays look very fresh and clean, there are a few animals that have fallen prey (again, no pun intended lol) to time itself. I did have to chuckle a bit that they offer a season pass (do dead animals change much?), but in all honesty, now that I think about it, it’s kinda one of those places where you can just “be”, and think, and de-escalate from the day, if you know what I mean; a peaceful, quiet place. All in all I’m glad that I went and I look forward to going again at some point.
Collin M — Google review
Could not be more pleased with our visit here! Some of the reviews will point out how the exhibits are dated and time-worn, but many fail to recognize how costly and delicate professional taxidermy can be, especially for rarer animals like jaguars or polar bears. What a treat to be able to visit such a collection! My five year old and nine year old both had an amazing time walking through and examining the features of each animal! It was definitely in much better condition than we expected based on other reviews! Would recommend this to anyone who enjoys animals!

If you recall Belle from Beauty and the Beast, then you can imagine the thrill she experiences when stumbling upon this establishment. Similar to her hometown bookstore operated by an elderly gentleman, this place exudes charm. It offers a delightful assortment of antiquated and contemporary books at affordable prices. The store is dotted with various cozy seats for readers' enjoyment, accompanied by a charming middle-aged man. Though he may not be diminutive in stature, his amiable demeanor matches one's expectations perfectly.
Stopped in to this tucked out of the way bookstore on a Thursday night, and were very pleasantly surprised with some local guys having a great time laughing, talking, playing music while inviting people to sit in and play or sing along. Nothing fancy but oh so enjoyable to walk about the store checking out the books that were very well priced. Need a quiet simple night, stop in on some Thursday night.

Girlfriend and I was out doing the audio tour of town. A guy told us they were getting ready to do some old time music at bookstore so we went and spent about 3 hours listening to them play and sing. They were all very nice and enjoyable. It was probably one of my favorite things we did on our whole vacation and it wasn't even planned.
Chris T — Google review
If you remember Belle from Beauty and the Beast, then you can picture my excitement as I stumbles upon this place. In her town, there was a tiny bookstore run by a little old man. This place is just as charming. It has some really old books, some newer books, and all the books are reasonably priced. There are random seats available throughout the store for your reading pleasure, and a little old man to boot. Ok. Maybe he isn't so little, but he is just as charming as you could hope to expect. If he's reading this, I hope he knows how much I've enjoyed his bookstore. Readers can find a beautiful respite here in the pages of a book.
Rachel D — Google review
It's a neat little small town Bookstore that has lots of interesting things to buy in it. Pld books especially. I found and bought a political science book that was made in 1912 for around 3 to 4 dollars. The store also well cleaned with nice atmosphere. I would say if your in Horse Cave or Cave City you should stop by to look around. :)

This is probably one of the best used bookstores that I have ever been to before. Reasonably priced books, movies, CDs, and records! Many diamond finds if you spend the time looking. I look forward to my next visit!

The Kentucky Repertory Theatre in Horse Cave was a unique and captivating attraction that drew in people from far and wide. Its presence brought an unparalleled energy to the region, making it truly memorable. However, it is disheartening that the theater has closed down and been transformed into yet another church, especially considering the abundance of similar establishments in the area.
This place made Horse Cave memorable. There was nothing around like it; it drew in people from all over as both audience members and employees. It brought an energy that was truly unique to the region. So it's still so depressing that after the theatre closed, the property was stripped of its culture and gutted into yet *another* church as if we don't already have a dozen or so just in the immediate area exactly like it. With this place, the Gypsy's Closet, and the Gallery Bakery all being closed down, honestly the only reason left to even look at Horse Cave is the cave itself and the local used bookstore.

Restaurant
The Feeder Restaurant is a charming and welcoming place located near the Horse Cave Motel. The owner's warm greeting and attentive service create a comfortable atmosphere, making guests feel right at home. The restaurant offers a clean and well-presented buffet with a variety of options including salad bar, pizzas, Mac & Cheese, Pork Green Chili, and more. Visitors can also enjoy delicious dishes such as Mexican eggrolls, hamburgers, steak and cheese, all served by friendly staff.
Our first time in was a great experience which means we'll definitely be coming back! We had dinner at this great little place based on wonderful reviews. We had no intention of having the buffet but were pleasantly surprised at how clean and well presented everything was. They have a salad bar, a nice variety of pizzas, and a few other dishes including Mac & Cheese and Pork Green Chili on the buffet and I'm sure this changes a little from day to day. Toward the end of our meal, the owner, Jessica, came to our table and asked if we'd like to test a new dessert item on the menu. Her Blueberry Cheesecake Tacos were delightful! The no-bake style cheesecake filling was perfection (not too sweet with great flavor) and the blueberry pie filling was a perfect accompaniment. We can't wait to try other menu items in the future.

Such nice staff! We ordered the Philly cheese Steak and Cheeseburger Pizza. Both were delicious, the fries were nice and crispy and the beer was ice cold! We got the cinnamon sticks for dessert and they were AMAZING!! I would come back just for them!

We were in the area to go to Mammoth Cave and stayed here in town. We decided to give this place a try. We had a group of 6 and we were all satisfied with our food. There was a buffet but most of our group ordered off the menu. Food was good. Staff was nice. If you are in the area give this place a try.

After our visit to Mammoth Cave, we took a short ride to the Feeder Restaurant. My teenager enjoyed all you can eat pizza. Her favorite was the dessert pizza. My husband and I really enjoyed the Mexican eggrolls. My husband had their hamburger while I had the steak and cheese. Both were very good. The waitress was very friendly, and the service was good. I would say this was well worth the stop!
Cherie D — Google review
My experience deserves five stars across the board most definitely will be returning. Actually had an experience where the owner went out of her way to make me a steak even though they only serve them on Tuesdays. Once again I enjoyed my visit along with the southern hospitality!!
CHARLES P — Google review
The cook is a mad genius! This unique blend of pizza, burgers, and country dinner specials shouldn't work together but it does, very well. I had one of the most tender NY Strips I ever ate. Their sweet potato fries and Sicilian sub are amazing. You have to try the sweet tea! The staff are polite and very hospitable even when in a rush. I wish I lived closer so I could eat here more often.

THIS PLACE IS AMAZING!!! I can't express how much we loved it. Truly! We stayed at Horse Cave Motel right down the road and stopped in for dinner. The owner greeted us with a big friendly smile and walked us to our table and even pulled the chair out for me?! Wow! The atmosphere was very comfortable.. almost like you're at home. The locals had prom night so there were customers enjoying dinner before the event. The owner walked around and obviously was familiar with many of the guests, making conversation. The vibe was very chill and relaxed... not like other restaurants where you feel rushed and pressured. I could sense that many of the locals make this a regular spot. The food was phenomenal! I ordered a calzone and you could taste that it was homemade dough and the sauce was on point!!! Yummy!!! Just the right amount of cheese and toppings. My husband ordered the pork apple burger with fries. Excellent! The fries have a unique seasoning.. almost like a sweet barbecue powder? We also had a side salad and they allowed us to make our own. Their salad bar was very clean, stocked well and fresh! Obviously we didn't order the pizza buffet, but I saw that they were constantly putting a variety of fresh pizzas out... And I really regret not trying their dessert pizza! The service was perfect as well. I wish I could order calzones from this place regularly.. too bad they do not deliver to Cincinnati! Definitely try this place out if you are near the area! You can taste the homemade freshness in their food and you can sense the care and love behind it. It seems like it's one big family there and they welcome you in as one of their own.

The buffet was good. The pizza was fresh and flavorful. The salad bar appeared to be well maintained and replenished with fresh vegetables and fruit . The staff were professional and very attentive to the customers. I would recommend.

Historical landmark
Experience a unique stay at Wigwam Village No. 2, a historic 1937 motel featuring cozy concrete tepees that have been updated with modern amenities. This quirky accommodation offers 15 furnished wigwams, each retaining original furniture from over a century ago. Guests can relax by the fire pits, enjoy the retro playground, or have a picnic at the pavilion. The hosts provide informative history about the wigwams and offer great local dining recommendations.
We haven't even checked out yet but I don’t want to forget to review this place. We LOVED IT!!! What a relaxing and fun experience. We were just passing through on our motorcycles and decided this would be a fun place to stay. I’ll admit that I was taken aback at first by the owner meeting us in the parking lot but quickly realized that it was part of the experience. He was greeting us the way that probably used to happen back in the day. He offered to shares a history lesson about the place that is very interesting actually. He lit a fire in the center of “the village” for the guests to enjoy and we actually all sat and talked for about an hour or so. It was very nice. Check in and check out times are strictly adhered to; however, the owner offered to store our bags if we decided to go caving and didn’t want to leave them sitting on our bikes. That was the icing on the cake for me. This was a much needed trip back in time, and an absolute highlight of a week long road trip. Thank you for taking pride in a little piece of history so the rest of us can enjoy it.
Jay W — Google review
Such a cute little place. Rooms were clean, quiet with original old furnishings. Of course don’t expect a lot of space. We had 4 women staying in a room with 2 double beds. It was pretty tight but we still loved it. The owner built a fire each night and we met the other campers and shared lots of laughs (and marshmallows). The location was great being close to Mammoth Natl. Park and several other caves. Nearby local restaurants were awesome and the people were so friendly. I highly recommend you make the trip!
Sandy M — Google review
Was on my list to do, and found our stay here wonderful! When checking in the owner, Keith, gave us a brief history of the place and their plans to bring it back to its original 1937 glory. We stayed in spacious teepee #7 that had two double beds. The beautiful furniture is the original from 1937 with very comfortable new mattresses. The bathrooms have the original beautiful tile. I will definitely stay here again when in the area. It is close Mammoth Cave and Horse Cave with plenty of restaurants near by. I loved staying in such a cool place of nostalgia.
Rhonda R — Google review
This was our second stay. I love this place! They speak right to my kitchy heart. Keith and Megan have done a fantastic job not only restoring the place, but straddling the line between honoring the past and attempting to not be disrespectful to indigenous peoples- not an easy task. The units are well equipped, excellent service, and a family atmosphere. I can't wait for the diner to be restored. We will be back.
Betsy K — Google review
What an awesome place! If you are looking for a unique place to stay- this is it! Don’t expect luxury, but a nice quiet and clean place to stay- that is exactly what you get! Upon arrival the owner greeted us and reviewed the history of the motel with us. You can tell the owner loves and really cares the property. The room was small and clean. It was nostalgic in a way, reminding me of motels we stayed at as a kid. Loved this little place, definitely recommend!
Sarah J — Google review
My husband and I will definitely be staying again! The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. All the quaint nostalgia of yesteryear with the comforts of today. The owner starts a fire each evening in the area surrounded by the rooms for relaxation and camaraderie of your fellow travelers that includes an area for the children to play as well.
Jinkzed I — Google review
Don't miss this historic one of a kind Motel. Wigwams clean, cozy, comfortable..super comfortable beds. Bonfire fire in evenings. Fantastic playground for children. Safe environment. Excellent management and service. Great history talks and literature. Always wanted to stay there and now I have. Worth a trip just to stay there.
TOM B — Google review
Just do it. You know you want to. The concerns I had were: is it safe? Is it clean? Yes it's safe, yes it's clean. The door has a deadbolt and a chain. Don't get me wrong, it's niche. Not gonna be for everyone. But if you're looking for a way to enhance your road trip, this is a surefire way to do it. Speaking of fire, the night bonfire is a very cool opportunity to meet other travelers. The communal vibe was cool. It was a fun experience, without being gimmicky. The owners are cool but are taking the project seriously. It's a unique thing to do to break up the monotony of life. So just do it, book a night. It's fun, it's nifty.

I strongly recommend not accepting loads from this shipper with an appointment set any time near a holiday. I sat a few miles away for 24 hrs waiting for my appointment, only to receive a message from my dispatcher 1.5 hrs from my appointment time letting me know that I'm being taken off the load. The reason I was given was because the shipper waited until almost literally the last hour to decide to let us know that they're closed today, July the 3rd, for the holiday. And yes, they had previously set an appointment with us for July 3rd.
Edwin R — Google review
Extremely friendly staff! I checked in a day early and was loaded in no time since they did have the product in the warehouse. I was also able to park by the green dumpsters to finish up my split. I would definitely come back to this receiver time and time again. The docks to this warehouse was not hard to hit at all they had plenty of space to maneuver around. Thank you guys for being awesome!

Great selection, reasonable prices and the service was above and beyond! We bought a large urn and secured it with seat belts for the ride home. Somehow it got twisted and we couldn’t get it out of the car without cutting the seatbelt! We went back and Michael chipped away at it until the urn was freed! Buying another urn was cheaper than replacing a seatbelt! Thanks for helping us and not making us feel really stupid!

Family-geared zoo attraction featuring Australian animals such as kangaroos, plus cave tours.
Wow, what a wonderful surprise this place turned out to be. We were glad they offered golf carts, well worth it. Loved being able to feed all the different animals; kangaroos, emus, goats, baby cows, and horses. Great variety of animals to view as well. We were really impressed with the cave. It may be smaller than others in the area. However, it has some great well established features, like cave bacon. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable.

This was a fun place to visit! The cave tour was fun and our tour guide, James, made it even better. I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of animals and the animal encounters were amazing. Petting emus and kangaroos! Having lorikeets land all over us! The cave tour and the animal encounters were included in the admission price. Ate a little lunch at the cafe. Juicy burgers and refreshing snow cones. All the staff were pleasant and kind. If you are going to or through Horse Cave, Ky, stop here. It’s well worth it!

What a fun, unique experience! For one price, we got to go on a cave tour; pet kangaroos, horses, goats; see all kinds of birds; and watch a sheep dog perform. The folks working and tour guide were all very knowledgeable and friendly. We definitely loved the experience and would highly recommend anyone in the area, visiting or otherwise, to check it out.

Such a fun and interactive place! We had a great time feeding and hanging out with the kangaroos — definitely a highlight. Also got to feed goats, horses, and some very curious emus. The educational shows were well done and great for all ages. If anyone in your group has mobility issues, I highly recommend renting a golf cart — it made getting around so much easier. Be sure to bring some cash for animal food stations, and we appreciated the military discount too. A unique and memorable experience!
Penney L — Google review
Loved the experience. The animals are very used to having lots of people around. Even though we went on a day that there was a school trip and more loud noise, the animals weren't spooked. If you go and dont mind hiking up a hill, you can walk, but I do suggest getting the golf cart it makes 6 easier

The animals and grounds are very well kept and clean. The cave tour was incredible and the guide was informative and personable. The kangaroo experience is included and super exciting for all ages! Rent the golf cart! I would recommend this to anyone on any kind of trip! Definitely a great stop!! We will be back again!!

An Unforgettable Day of Hands-On Fun! My husband and I recently spent a fantastic day at Kentucky Down Under Adventure Zoo, and it was one of the most unique and enjoyable experiences we've had in Kentucky! If you're looking for interactive animal encounters and a fun, adventurous atmosphere, this is the place to go. Highlights of Our Visit: The Outback Walkabout (Kangaroos): The highlight was definitely walking among and feeding the free-roaming kangaroos. We were able to get up close and personal with several friendly animals, including a mother with a joey—a truly memorable experience. Land of Lorries: This aviary was incredible! The lorikeets are vibrant and eager to land on your hand (and head!) for a feed. The close interaction with these beautiful birds was a huge hit and made for some amazing photos. Golf Cart Rental: We are so glad we rented a golf cart! The park is spread out, and having the cart made getting around much easier and added a lot of fun to the day. Highly recommended! Practicality: The grounds are clean and well-maintained, and the general atmosphere is relaxed and family-friendly. Be sure to wear sturdy shoes for walking the grounds and gravel paths! Helpful Tip for Visitors: We were disappointed to have missed the Mammoth Onyx Cave Tour (which is included with admission). We arrived just five minutes after a tour started and faced an hour wait, which we skipped since we were already done with our other activities. I would highly recommend future guests plan the cave tour time first upon arrival or call ahead to check the schedule to avoid missing it! Despite missing the cave, we felt the admission price was well worth it for the hands-on animal experiences. We highly recommend Kentucky Down Under!

One star, it's not even in Mammoth Cave. . . Is what our Ranger Eric Elder warned us against posting, or he'll come after you with a pickaxe. In reality, he led a rollicking lantern-lit romp through Great Onyx cave along with bumbling sidekick Brendan (Hard to get good help these days!). The tour is full of fascinating facts about the wild days of Kentucky caving, and offers a nice departure from the busy Mammoth cave. It's a strange feeling to experience something so sterile and commercial as a guided cave tour in such a foreign and fascinating place where many others explored it all alone. This cave was packed with interesting formations bottom to lower bottom. Terrell's wild bus chase up the hill on the return trip was my favorite part.
Emmitt W — Google review
It was such a great experience to do cave mapping in this cave! Very full of different types of formations

Wonderful cave to tour, all old school kerosene lanterns, about 10 are handed out for tour. It's a in and out cave no loop. Get a great store on cave and it's not been vandalized by people. Worth the trip on the bus to get there.

Onyx cave has all of the stalagmite/stalactites, small cave river, lots of steps, but short enough to take kiddos with a short attention span!

Great cave formations, and the guide was very informative and entertaining! Shameless Self Promotion: To see a video of Mammoth Onyx Cave and other area caves, check out my YouTube channel, Bluegrass Explorer.

If you can tour the Great Onyx cave DO IT! Tours of this cave are not offered often. The lantern tour was phenomenal, just wish they had more lanterns as they tended to bunch together during the tour leaving some of us in the dark! There are some beautiful formations in this cave that you won't see Mammoth Cave. Ranger Dave was a great story teller about the history of this cave and the efforts over the years to keep it pristine. The bus ride over is like 4 wheelin through the back country of Kentucky in a bus...fun!
