Catholic church
The Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of Rosary, also known as the Manizales Cathedral, is a magnificent Catholic cathedral completed in 1939. It features a stunning rose window and canopy on the main altar. The cathedral stands out as the highest in Colombia at 106 meters and is considered one of the first churches of its kind in Latin America due to its construction with reinforced concrete.
A must visit in Manizales, great experience and provides a different perspective of the Cathedral and its history. Bonus, that coffee on top of the Cathedral 👌🏼

Constructed by French and Italian architects, this site warrants a visit, particularly for its exquisite stained glass. However, the location's safety is a concern.
Oscar G — Google review
Gorgeous cathedral to visit! Elevator to top floor with better plaza view. Have delicious coffee & rose drink for the price of $4 to use bathroom if needs.
Cashflow L — Google review
I happened to attend a ceremoney of marriage with my friend. The Marriage was with lot of people in spanish culture. The paintings in the church was intricate. If you go in a normal day, its peaceful & quiet.
Sai R — Google review
I think it's one of the best in Colombia. Glass work is great. The cost of participating in a touristic tour inside the cathedral is 13,000 COP per person. Children are 8,000 COP. With this tour, you can also climb to the highest point of the cathedral. Inside, on the 2nd floor, there is a cafe overlooking the square. The service in the cafe is bad but the coffee is good.

Nestled just a few miles east of Manizales, Recinto del Pensamiento is an idyllic nature reserve that offers a serene escape from the city. The park boasts lush gardens, a butterfly farm, and a hummingbird observatory, providing visitors with the perfect opportunity to reconnect with nature and find tranquility. Guided tours offer insights into Andean plants and their medicinal properties, while visitors can also enjoy sipping on coffee at Juan Valdez and taking in the scenic views.
Place is great to get in touch with nature. There is a Juan Valdez and an open space to sit in and enjoy the view while sipping on a good coffee. I would recommend the guided tour walk. It takes you all over the park while the guides explain the type of plants/trees they have. You will eventually be taken to the top so you can witness a gran variety of birds in their natural habitat, definitely beautiful and it makes the two hours well worth it! Bring good shoes and comfortable clothing as it may be cold at times.
Cin — Google review
I wanted to share my review of the recent wedding I attended at the Recinto of Del Pensamiento. It was truly a stunning event that I believe you would enjoy experiencing as well. The venue itself is breathtaking, set in a romantic environment surrounded by beautiful nature. The bride's attention to detail was evident, especially with the addition of plants along the private trail leading to the washroom and the pabellón building. It truly added to the charm and magical ambiance of the place. One thing to keep in mind is that if you have a limited budget, additional expenses for lighting, heaters, tables, sofas, among others, can quickly add up. The venue only provides the building itself upon rental, so extra amenities need to be arranged separately. However, if budget permits, it can be the perfect setting for a wedding ceremony. For larger weddings with over 300 guests like the one I attended, the restaurant space at the main hotel may feel a bit small for a pre-cocktail hour. In good weather, guests can enjoy the stunning surroundings, but in case of rain, it may become a bit challenging. Overall, the Recinto of Del Pensamiento is a magical place that I highly recommend considering for any special occasion. The natural beauty and romantic atmosphere create a truly unforgettable experience.
Marce T — Google review
A very pleasant surprise. We went when the weather was perfect, overcast. Perfect for pictures or to take a video. Our group was the only one present so we have the complete attention of the guide. A beautiful pace to see nature, and the surrounding area of Manizales. The station of the hummingbird was amazing. Be prepared to walk in some uphill roads. You may need to carry an umbrella if a sunny day or a rainy day.
Charlie M — Google review
We arrived at 11 am and told we had to wait until 1pm for a tour. The price of the tour stated online was about $7.50. We went to the restaurant and explained that we needed to finish eating by 12:45 to make the tour and would we have time. They said "yes". We also asked if we could pay with a credit card and they said "yes". We ordered but by 12:30 still didn't have our food. We told them that if the food was not out in a few minutes we would have to cancel the order. They brought it out. We didn't have time to eat much and my husband went to buy the tickets while I paid the bill. Except, their credit card machine didn't work. I finally told them I needed to leave or I wouldn't make the tour. Meanwhile my husband had been told he would have to pay $22 instead of $7.50 and they only accept cash despite saying earlier they accept credit cards. Then he was told the 1pm tour was cancelled and we would have to wait until 3pm for a tour. We said we could not wait that late. Then, another person came and said the 1pm tour was on and we would be charged $7.50 and could pay with a credit card... Eventually we were able to pay for everything with the credit card. But this was only part of our experience. The recinto needs to specify that the tram is no longer functioning and visitors must walk up a long incline to get to the butterfly house and the hummingbird house. It also needs to let visitors know that they will not be able to see the orchids. This means that visitors will only get basically half of what they paid to see. Visitors go to see the orchids, butterflies and hummingbirds and to ride the tram. We were expecting the price of admission included all of what the recinto advertised. It didn't.

Very nice and big parc. With all parcs like this its almost impossible to keep clean and tidy and the same goes for this parc. The cable car wasn't working when we weten here. On the upside, the parc is beautifull. Loads of plants, trees, hummingbirds, butterflies and orchids. Very nice staff who know what they are talking about during the two hour tour for a low price (€5). Great Valdez coffeeshop!
Rick B — Google review
It's not a recommended place if you want to go birdwatching peacefully and explore the area. You have to pay to tour the site with a guide, which limits your experience, and if you want to enter without taking part in the tour, you're only allowed in the social areas. So, I don't think it's a good place to enjoy birdwatching.
Jean S — Google review
I didn’t get to bring my doggie into the forest because “pets are not allowed”. It was a bummer and we had come a long way. We just wanted to walk around the forest but alas I was just met with dome harsh words by a lady who thought I was supposed to know about these things.

Wonderful! Perfect place to go with children. You can enjoy a wonderful view of the city from this point and is free. It's really easy to go, you only have to take the bus that reads "minitas" and say the driver where you are going, he will leave you in the nearest point you only have to walk few minutes up hill. You can also find food there and it's not so expensive
RAFAELA S — Google review
Our family visited not knowing what I expect. We went during the week around 3pm so there were few people there. Our 8 year old enjoyed the play area that is on your left as you enter. There are additional flowers and a pigeon house a bit further down. Walking up you find a Butterfly area that is open Thurs to Sun (I think). There is also a little farm with a very vocal lamb or goat. Lots of ducklings, roosters, chickens. There is a climbing wall in the little farm but I think it’s open only weekends. Further up is the BioMa (focused on teaching the community how to be environmentally responsible citizens (in Spanish)), beautiful views are all around, and our 8 year old’s favorite— the stone slide. Kinda hard to really pick up speed, even with the little papers for sliding. Something else needed to really take advantage of the slide. Construction was going on so it looks like they are adding to the park. Admission: Free Open until 5pm.

Café Hacienda Venecia is a working coffee farm located just outside Manizales, in the Colombian Coffee Triangle. It offers day tours where visitors can learn about the coffee-making process and stay overnight in authentic houses. The farm produces excellent Honey and Lavado varieties of coffee known for their exceptional flavor and quality. The stunning landscapes provide a perfect setting for hiking, trekking, and walking with friends. This is definitely a place worth visiting to experience the wonderful world of Colombian coffee.
You must park on the main road and take a 4 x 4 jeep to get to Hacienda Venecia. They have a very nice hotel but we took the coffee tour. Very interesting. Saw everything from the plant to final product.
Richard S — Google review
An absolutely unforgettable experience! Hacienda Venecia is a true gem in Colombia’s coffee region. The farm is beautifully located, perfectly maintained, and full of authentic charm. The tour guides are amazing passionate, knowledgeable, and super friendly. They explain every step of the coffee making process with enthusiasm and clarity. You can really feel their love for coffee and pride in their work. The owner is incredibly kind and welcoming. It’s clear that he deeply cares not only about the quality of his coffee but also about the experience of every guest. His commitment to sustainable farming and his personal touch make the visit even more special. The farm itself is stunning surrounded by lush nature, hummingbirds, and the wonderful aroma of freshly roasted coffee. Everything is designed with great attention to detail, creating a peaceful and authentic Colombian atmosphere. Plaza de Bolivar in Manizales is a special square located in the heart of the city, featuring the striking statue of Bolivar Condor. This unique sculpture showcases Simon Bolivar with the body of a man and the head and wings of a condor. The plaza is surrounded by attractive buildings from the Republican period, adding to its historical charm. Visitors can also admire two Botero murals and enjoy stunning views from Mirador Polaco.

The Arenas Betancourt sculpture, though exceptionally beautiful, has unfortunately suffered from a lack of attention from the city.

This is the best attraction in Manizales. There are many things to admire in and around the Plaza de Bolivar. In addition, there are many coffee shops or restaurants to dine. My favorite cafe is the “Queso & Cafe” adjacent to square. I also suggest coming more than once to the square to catch sun at different angels to each monument. Enjoy!

Aereo Cable Manizales, also known as the Cable Aereo, is a modern transportation system inaugurated in 2009 to improve mobility in Manizales. This 1.3-mile-long cable car connects downtown Manizales with the regional bus station Terminal Nuevo, providing a convenient and efficient way to traverse the hilly terrain of the city. The gondolas can accommodate up to 10 passengers each and have a capacity of transporting 2,100 people per hour.
Our family looooooves the cable car. We like to get in and ride around without getting off until we are back where we started. :) it’s COP $2500 per person. You don’t need a card as you can tap and pay with Apple Pay or other pay. So easy.
Shantel M — Google review
The cable cars in Manizales are a great way to get around and see the city from the high above. The cars are comfortable and the ride is 10-12 minutes. The Founders station, which is located at the town square has two stops and the final drops you off at the bus station.

La Nubia Airport is the main airport serving the city, offering regular flights from Bogota, Cartagena, and Medellin via Avianca and Easyfly. Located approximately 10.6km from the Pop Art hotel, it's easily accessible by bus with a short walk from Carrera 20. The airport lacks full dining options but has convenient coffee and candy shops. While small, it operates efficiently under favorable weather conditions.

Flights gets cancelled all the time because of weather and they don’t give you your money back. Don’t fly in or out of here.
JJ M — Google review
The airport located about 10.6km away from the hotel we stayed - Pop Art. To get to this airport, we walked to Carrera 20 about a block away from Iglesia Adventista del Séptimo Día and hailed the bus on the roadside. It cost 2,150 COP per pax for a journey of 40 minutes. We also drove past Torre Del Cable, which was halfway towards our destination. From where the bus dropped us, it was another 5 minutes walk to the entrance. Once we've obtained our boarding passes, we still couldn't go inside the departure hall due to the limited spaces, so went upstairs to the public waiting area which offered a view of the plane taking off and landing.
Travel B — Google review
Is this an airport? When i got there the security guard had the lights off and ms. Villa was super rude... this is a joke of airport...the airline staff was doing something when i got there apparently they only work a few hours a day....they should close this airport and make a few soccer fields becuase this airport servers no purpose or add any value to manizales..if you plant to fly you will be better off departing from pereira

If you want to lose your time and money then this is a right place to do. They canceled both our flights Medellin-Manizales, Manizales-Medellin. And we had to spend money on taxi from the other airport from Pereira to Manizales, and back. And for the hotel on our way back to Medellin because of the flight cancelation. Then didn't cover any of our expenses . Awful airport and airlines Easy Flight. Please, please don't use them. NEVER.

It sits in front of the striking Neogothic styled Iglesia de la Inmaculada Concepcion, known for its white exterior and beautiful cedar wood interior. The 'Monumento a Los Colonizadores' is an awe-inspiring tribute to the founders of Manizales, perched high on a hill in the Chipre neighborhood. Crafted from 50 tonnes of bronze, this monumental piece not only showcases impressive artistry but also serves as a gateway to breathtaking views over the city and the stunning PNN Los Nevados. Visitors can easily reach it by hopping on a bus marked 'Chipre' along Carrera 23.
Cool place. Nice sculptures. Great view. There are good seatings. Sit down and breathe.
David D — Google review
It's actually pretty high. ideal for observing the city and the natural beauties surrounding the city. The whole city was covered with fog on the day we were there. especially high altitudes. It was an interesting composition. For example, the church on the back of an ox. We were expected to understand the ordeal and suffering of the colonizers. There is usually a parking lot around. Entry is free.
Öner B — Google review
Beautiful place to visit! You get to see the whole Manizales city from top of the mountain.. The monument is a tribute to the mining industry!!
Bedoya R — Google review
This monument is composed of two separated sculpture sets. While the one at its center gives the name to the monument, it's the other one hidden at the back that made my trip worth it. This one, named "Agony" a miniature of the city layed as it was suffering from an earthquake, while the surrounding bulls withstand the blow. The entire piece is well crafted and it's a metaphorical representation of a dramatic event.

Nestled in the heart of Manizales, Chipre Tower is a must-visit destination for anyone looking to soak in breathtaking views. As you ascend the hill towards this iconic structure, you're greeted by rolling green hills that create a stunning backdrop, especially at sunset when the sky ignites with vibrant hues.
There's two ways to get up to the top, stairs or the elevator, I walked up, not a good idea after riding a bicycle all the way up to manizales, if you do decide to take the stairs, you be better off coming down the elevator, the spiral of the stairs get you a bit dizzy. The staff will give you a brief history about the city.

There is a great view at the top. Stairs to climb to get to the top. A cool little restraint at the top with great views of the city and mountains. There is even a sky walk that goes around the outside of the tower if you are daring enough.

We visited on June 22, 2023 (my first day in Manizales). We only wanted to view the city from the top of the tower but we had to purchase a tour to do so. I'm glad we did because the tour guide was amazing. He loves Manizales and it really showed. He was kind and had a great sense of humor. The view from the tower was nice but the tour guide made this a 5 star visit!

Nice view of the city although pretty hazy that day. Modest price - $5 cop to enter and they had clean toilets. We didn't eat in the restaurant but it's got a great view. Also didn't walk on the sky walk - where you strap on a harness and walk on the catwalk outside. Nice thing to do when you are in Manizales.

Ecoparque the Arenillo Alcázares is a stunning park with an extensive pathway that offers an enjoyable 1.5-hour stroll. You can appreciate the beauty of nature without worrying about bug bites, which is a pleasant surprise. However, caution should be taken while walking on the steps as they tend to be covered in slippery wet moss. Despite this minor inconvenience, it is still an excellent destination for nature enthusiasts in Manizales.
Such a beautiful park. The path is quite lengthy, long enough for a 1.5 hour walk. I didn’t experience any bug bites so that was nice. Be careful when walking in the steps however, they have a lot of wet moss. I actually slipped & hit my shin pretty hard haha. All in all it’s a pretty good nature park. A must see if you’re in Manizales & you’re a lover of nature.

Caldas Park is a popular spot for locals to relax, socialize, and enjoy the outdoors. The park is known for its laid-back vibe, with older individuals gathering to spend time with friends and colleagues. Artisans line Calle 29, offering various products such as wool and cotton items.
There are food carts in the evening. Hot dog is CO$ 2.000, tastes below average, don't recommend. Restaurante La 27 nearby has almuerzo for CO$ 9.000 is much better. - 2022/08/02

Among its constituent elements, there is the Church of the Immaculate Conception, which rises on the eastern side of the park, accompanied by low-rise residential and commercial buildings, which also line the southern and western sides; the northern side is made up of the Parque Caldas shopping center. Popularly known as Caldas Park (originally called Sucre Park), is one of the first public spaces in the Colombian city of Manizales. Its current name comes from the inauguration of the statue of the scholar Francisco José de Caldas. Source: Wikipedia.

Café La Terraza Manizales is a hidden gem that locals highly recommend. This charming coffee shop, located on the 23rd floor of a downtown building in Manizales, offers an unbeatable view of the city center and its surroundings. The panorama is enhanced by breathtaking mountain vistas. As for their menu, they serve delightful coffee options sourced from the renowned coffee region of Colombia. Prices are reasonable; however, it's worth noting that alcoholic beverages are not available.
It's on he 23rd floor of a building downtown Manizales, with a splendid view on the city center and area around. What's more, the view on the mountains is dazzling. Delightful Coffee options coming from the region, the biggest coffee area of Colombia.
AksuihtaK M — Google review
While the city view is appealing, the value proposition of this establishment is questionable, particularly considering the food quality and service deficiencies. The menu, which purports to offer international cuisine, lacks authenticity across the board. Specifically, the imported ribeye steak was overcooked and tough, and the accompanying vegetables were unappetizing. We recommend visiting the terrace solely for the views and photographic opportunities, perhaps enjoying a coffee or beverage. I absolutely don't recommend this place!!

The truth is that I was left with a lot of discomfort because I had completely different expectations about the place, and when I arrived, the only thing I received was a "good afternoon". From then on we waited for 10 minutes (there were 4 people at the bar) and they brought us a menu with little variety and also did not offer us water. Then I write to his administrator on the Facebook page and his response was so insufficient that he can not pay for going to this place. Personally I do not recommend very regular service little effective and slow.

It’s inside, of what looks like a government building, just go up to the guard and tell him you’d like to go to cafe terraza and he will tell you it’s on the 23rd floor. You will get off at the 22nd floor and walk up a flight of stairs to get to the terraza. The view is breathtaking and must see. We've already been twice and it went badly for us. They bring the plate without protein because supposedly there wasn't any. 20 minutes later they bring only the protein. I really don't recommend it. Probably the best / biggest mall in Manizales. It's nothing exceptional by international standards (especially if you've been to the US, London etc), but it is still quite big and nice. There's food, a cinema, a supermarket and lots of other shops, of course. All very new and clean! Nice experience!
Artur S — Google review
Good modern mall. The Food Hall is a big dissappointment unless you like fríed food, hamburgers and oily rice. I ordered these two ítems from Kanka ( peruvian ) and only took a couple mouthfulls of each. The chicken vegetable stack comprised of cold mash potato and cold shredded chicken. The rice dish was tasteless also with dry chicken chunks and so much oil in the rice that i think the Americans will want to invade it. 4 Stars for the mall. 1 Star for the restaurants and eateries.

I only spent about an hour heavy due to heavy rain pour. The park is massive. There is an Olympic size swimming pool, volleyball courts, play grounds, huge prehistoric -like trees covered in lychen (an indication of good clean air), monuments, a dog park, squirrels, little food stands selling all kinds of treats. This is a great park. Beautiful.

It's the Manizaleños that make the park bad. The people with dogs - which there are too many - treat it like its their backyard and let their dogs loose without a leash. A lot do not pick up their dogs waste and let them chase and kill the birds that are in the park...most likely with a smile. Others like to treat the park like their personal gym and do not respect that it is a public space to be shared by all. I saw someone lifting weights in the golf course.

(Translated by Google) It's incredible that a place like this sends people away and doesn't offer service at 9:40 pm because they close at 11 pm, and they don't have time to pick up a couple of glasses of beer. How shameful. Because of things like this, we continue to become an increasingly invisible city. Torre Del Cable, the tallest of the wooden Colombian lattice towers, once supported the historic cableway in Manizales from 1922 to 1961. Today, it stands as a monument and a popular meeting point for locals. Visitors can enjoy coffee at nearby cafes or take in beautiful sunsets with friends and family. While no longer in use, this historical landmark adds an interesting touch to the town's atmosphere and is a favorite spot for both locals and travelers alike.
I didn’t buy any tickets for anything. Just visited the Main Street where this tower is located. The tower was lit at night and there was a bunch of people hanging out that night. That street is definitely worth a visit. The tower itself is supposedly no longer in service, and the station right next to it is supposedly now an Architecture School (according to a local). Cool history.

What an absolute delight is this city and specially this Tower and it's surrouning places specially during the fair. I can't remember a single crowded place (meaning bar or business). Walk at night (through Milan Avenue) is so refreshing but not just because of the weather, is the environment an also the people. If I could came back I wouldn't miss it for the world!

Nestled in stunning landscapes, this family-run establishment is deeply committed to their craft and the surrounding community. From the moment you arrive, you're greeted with a warm welcome and a cup of their exquisite original coffee, setting the tone for an enriching day ahead. The tour takes you through lush coffee fields where you'll learn about sustainable farming practices from passionate guides like Santiago and Ivanov.
We have such good memories from our stay at Tio Conejo. We were looking for a small place to stay. I am interested in birding and we were also looking to do a coffee tour in a small coffee farm. This place appeared to have everything we were looking for. From the beginning, the communication and planning was excellent. We had the coffee tour, coffee tasting, lodging, food, overnight stay and a birding tour in the morning, all at the same place. We highly recommend!
Sylvie T — Google review
Great place to be. We stayed for 5 days and enjoyed being surrounded by nature. Very nice being part of the Tio Conejo Family. Coffee picking, tasting and learning about the challenges in the coffee world. Great cooking together and great food. It was amazing.

One of the best authentic experiences I've done on my life. Day starts with your of coffee plantation but Ivanov explains how he decided to make it sustainable from an environmental, social and economic basis. This is a must see for anyone interested in more than just a quick visit to see crops and a coffee gift shop.

Visiting Tio Conejo and meeting the Castellanes family was a pivotal moment in our trip to Colombia. From the first WhatsApp message the night before our visit it was clear that it will be a special experience. You should be prepared for the entire day of adventures with old friends. And if course this will include amazing coffee, great landscapes and the real Colombian food. The warmth and kindness of those people will make you feel a part of their big family. Muchas gracias a Ivanoff, Angela y especialmente Santi. Un abrazo muy fuerte a ustedes todos.
Dmitry B — Google review
Best coffee experience I've ever had! From the beginning of the tour you get an amazing view with a cup of their original coffee. During the tour you get to walk through the coffee fields and explore more of their terrain. They have room for people that want to stay the night in the fields, which I will definitely come back to do! Also, thank you to Santiago for giving us the history and stages of how coffee is produced and all their different agriculture produced on their land. The terrain is intermediate on some areas, but Santiago was very patient and careful with us making sure we were always good. After walking the fields, the tour includes a very delicious meal made with products produced on their land. We had pumpkin soup, roasted vegetables, and pasta with ground meat. After dinner, we had another more in-depth of how the different grains taste like after being brewed and the different ways to enjoy coffee in the brewing making. Honestly, if I can give this spot more than 5 stars, I would! Only downfall is getting there, it is a steep hill and the entrance is even steeper. So take that in consideration with the vehicle you are driving with to get in. But don't let this sway you away, it's definitely a great experience to have!
Catalina L — Google review
Stayed 1 night as a group of 4. Accommodations were nice, views amazing. The dinner, and other meals prepared by the owners for me was the best part. My friends are into coffee but I didn't care much for it. Its a small farm so doesn't take long to complete the tour.
