The Amalfi Coast is a UNESCO-listed landscape featuring small towns perched between mountains and the sea. A popular activity is the Classic Amalfi Coast walking tour, an 11-day journey along the Footpath of the Gods, offering unrivaled Italian coastal hiking. The self-guided walk allows exploration at a personalized pace through idyllic villages like Praiano, Positano, Sorrento, Amalfi, and Maestra dei Villaggi.
Breathtaking and unforgettable! The Amalfi Coast is truly one of the most stunning places you’ll ever see—the views are absolutely postcard-perfect at every turn. Towering cliffs, sparkling turquoise waters, and picturesque villages make this destination something straight out of a dream. I highly recommend visiting by coach if possible. The roads are incredibly narrow, winding, and steep, and while experienced drivers might manage, it’s not for the faint-hearted! If you do decide to drive, go for a small car—a big vehicle would be a real challenge on those roads. Beaches are beautiful but often require a walk down the cliffs, and some do charge for entry. It’s worth it for the experience, though! The restaurants along the coast are wonderful—laid-back, welcoming, and happy to let you enjoy your meal without rushing you, which is refreshing in such a popular tourist spot. Parking is expensive—around €10 per hour—so if you’re driving, plan to make the most of your time there. Honestly, words don’t do it justice—I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves. A place you’ll never forget!

Very cool views from a boat tour. The road is very busy and filled with traffic for 4 months of the year - it was still busy in late September. Ferries are probably the better option to see everything the coast has to offer.
Brendan C — Google review
Beautiful town. We went end Sept beginning of Oct and we found it busy - I'm not sure I'd like it at the height of the season! Narrow streets with lots of lovely restaurants and gift shops. Restaurants offer similar choices of food and drink and cost is relative to quality, the average for us was about 45€ each which was 1 main meal and a drink each. Be prepared for lots of hills and stairs! Taxis are expensive but buses and ferries are a cheaper way to travel. The buses are a hair-raising ride but the scenery and views are spectacular. Tickets for the bus are bought either on the bus, some hotels & shops or the terminal. Ferry tickets can be bought online or at the port usually about 10€ but you may be charged extra for luggage. The ferry and bus timetables are pretty spot on but beware of popular times - the bus won't stop if it's full and your next bus could be up to an hour wait. The buses can cost between 1.50€ to 2.50€ depending on time of day. All stops are request stops, other than the terminal. The weather can affect the running of the ferries so always best to have a back up plan. We did a tour bus to Pompei & Herculaneum which was about 2 hours travelling but that was also picking up other people on the way.

We were looking forward to see Amalfi coast. The view from the top was spectacular. The boat was a nice experience. The town was underwhelming. Not much things to see except for church and small gift shop (approx. 10 min) It's mainly beach and view, if you want seeing the market, go to Sorrento. Highly recommend.
Mika A — Google review
We visited Positano, Amalfi and Ravello. After a white-knuckle drive along a cliff-hugging road, we were rewarded with the most spectacular scenery. Words cannot convey the absolute beauty of the Amafi Coast. So here are some pictures. Better to see it in real life!
Dan T — Google review
Arrive by sea and you can see how beautiful the coastline is. But to say its busy is an understatement. The mainstreet is wall to wall people. Narrow at times, it still has a need for cars bikes and electric carts to go up and down it. Once you manage to get further up the widens and you see the real Amalfi. Move away from this street and things become better. Still busy, but not uncontrollably. Views are fantastically pretty. Recommend turning right first off the boat and walking up the hill. Longish walk but very worth it. Do the main Street once you have taken in this view. You'll accept the masses after that. Only views from the sea included, as that would spoil it
TEE-GEE-EYE — Google review
The most beautiful drive I've ever taken with breathtaking views around every turn! The roads are narrow with tons of cars truck, motorcycles and pedestrians so if you're not an aggressive driver, this is not for you! Parking is almost impossible but if you can score a parking spot, walking around Amalfi is a delight!
Michael F — Google review
The area is quite busy and the terrain is a little hard to walk as its up a hill but it's a beautiful area. There are lots of shopping spots, lots of places to get souvenirs. My husband is still talking about how amazing the gelato was and I ate a lemon sorbet in a giant lemon and it was excellent. Highly recommend this place to see once in your lifetime

The Archaeological Park of Paestum is a captivating complex featuring ancient temples dedicated to Hera, Athena, and Neptune, along with an amphitheater and a museum. This archaeological area was once the heart of the city, housing not only renowned temples but also the agora, the city's founding tomb, streets, baths, fountains, and meeting places for both Greeks and Romans. The Roman amphitheater is uniquely divided by Highway 18.
Magnificent well preserved Greek temples. There's an app called Paestum & Velia that explains the ancient site. Definitely download it before you visit as it helps you understand the ruins. The ticket was €15 for adults but under 18 was free. We loved being able to explore the area and absorb the history. We went on a weekday late in the afternoon so it was not too busy. Definitely worth a visit!
T E — Google review
I love ancient sites, I've been lucky enough to see plenty of these throughout the countries around the Med. But this Paestum one, it's really something! The park is so beautiful with majestic trees everywhere, its roman ruins and, obviously, those breathtaking ancient greek temples of Hera and Athena. If you're a history enthusiast, you can't miss that one!
Cedric M — Google review
Sublime ancient greek temples (better than most you can find in greece). Absolutely no crowds on a sunny november afternoon. Unmatched vibes.
Michele F — Google review
This archaeological park is a true treasure—beautifully preserved and impressively expansive. Its size means you can explore at your own pace without feeling overwhelmed by crowds, a refreshing contrast to more tourist-heavy sites. While getting there isn't the easiest journey, the reward is well worth the effort. The peaceful atmosphere and rich historical significance make it an unforgettable experience for anyone with a passion for the past.

Hard to put into words. If you’re a history lover, Paestum is a must. The ancient Greek temples are breathtaking, and walking through the ruins feels like stepping back in time. It’s peaceful, fascinating, and well worth the visit. You should also visit the nearby Museum as part of the tour, it’s fascinating.

We loved this stop, came here on an excursion from our cruise ship that docked in Salerno. Great ruins, fascinating. Greek & Roman ruins. Hot in the sun, bring water, not much shade while walking the ruins. Wayside signs explained what you were looking at in English.

***CLOSED ON MONDAYS FROM 20 OCTOBER TO 15 DECEMBER*** I would like to give 1 star because they do not have this information anywhere on the website. I returned on a different day and had a great visit hence the 3/5. Dozens of tourists (myself included) arrived on a Monday and had no choice but to leave disappointed. It’s incredibly disrespectful to those that come from all over the world to see this beautiful piece of cultural heritage. —— Easily accessible by train from Naples. The Paestum train station is a 10 minute walk away. Also easily accessed by car. Your ticket includes access to the archeological museum (across the street) and to the archeological site of Velia (45 km south). This archeological site is incredible. It’s not overrun with tourists and the temples are very well preserved. There are plaques and signs with explanations in Italian and English. The park has two entrances, but only one of them sells tickets and had a gift shop. If you want to enter via the other entrance, you will be told to purchase your ticket at the museum. A truly special place that is a must see when visiting the region.

(Translated by Google) Unfortunately, a morning that was supposed to be an enriching one turned out to be a great disappointment. The museum could be an added value for Palinuro if it weren't for incompetent management and an unpleasant and rude welcome from the "caretaker", perhaps an archaeologist. In the pouring rain, with two children in tow, we were asked for the green pass outside the door but unfortunately they don't have a QR reader, so it was enough to simply show a document! The visit, due to Covid, was hasty (about 6 minutes) and managed exclusively by the director, we didn't even have time to read the explanatory panels. There are certainly interesting finds but I know they will never be enough if they are not valued and loved by who keeps them.

The Museo del Suolo is a fascinating and unique museum that effectively illustrates the importance of soil for the planet's life through multimedia devices. The museum offers competent local guides who passionately convey the value of soil in all its forms, making it an essential visit for school groups.

(Translated by Google) The museum visit would have been interesting if it had been guided by more polite and interested staff. In less than half an hour we were taken to watch videos in different rooms, with short breaks in which a guide, more attentive to his phone than to his work, quickly babbled out some information to us and then moved away from the group at each viewing. Out of boredom, a lady decided to leave the museum. My boyfriend and I, on the other hand, would have liked to do the entire route but we were accompanied to the exit as the boy had to "go on a break". It's a shame because the themes are really interesting.

The Archaeological Park of Pompeii is a remarkable site that preserves the remains of the ancient Roman city, which was buried under ash and lava during the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. The vastness of the excavated ruins showcases the impressive extent of Roman civilization frozen in time. Rediscovered in 1599, detailed archaeological investigations began two centuries later, revealing a wealth of historical treasures.
This was one of the best experiences I have had. There is so much to see here. The guide we had was very nice and funny, I learned so much from her. We spent 2 hours here and it was nowhere near enough time to see everything. There are also a ton of stray cats that roam the ruins and a sweet dachshund that walks around and greets everyone near the entrance.

It's a fascinating archeological site to witness ancient Rome which was destroyed or buried in the volcanic ashes. I highly recommended to visit if you are near Naples or Sorrento. It's a massive place and well restored, still restoration work is ongoing. That said it's quite hard to tell some areas whether it's restored, or original. There are lots of information to take in and it's worth taking a tour guide as you would be lost without it because sign posts are very limited and it's like a maze. We had a tour guide of 20 people which was not very comfortable and personal. As only people in front gets a better understanding. I will suggest if you want a better experience choose less than 10 people in a tour. Plus, do not visit on a hot sunny day specially with a child. There is a very little shade, not many toilets, or water or cafe facilities for children. Please don't take any pram as pathways are not built for pram. Overall, it's a must see place, truly enriching experience, but not suitable or pleasant with a baby or young children.
Prashant S — Google review
Definitely worth visiting during low season in the morning. I saw less than a hundred people the whole time. Walking through the ruins can be difficult if you don't have proper shoes. It is all cobblestone and uneven terrain. Also, bring a map it is easy to get lost and the park is large and dense in some areas. Don't forget bottled water and snacks. There are no cafes or places to eat. The cafe in the middle was closed. You will have to walk to the entrance or exit if you want something to eat. Overall, unique place to visit if you enjoy history. Plan an entire day to see the major sites. 2-3 days if you want to see everything and not feel rushed.
Suzanna M — Google review
Must see archeological site for all ages. A well preserved large city (between 11,000 - 20,000 people), showing how the Romans lived. It is a whole lot of walking on not so smooth narrow sidewalks, so bring comfortable hiking shoes, plenty of water and take lots of breaks. We saw about 1/3 of the city in 3 hours. You will need more than 1 day to see all. Start early, they shut the gates around 3pm for coming in. Not ideal for baby strollers or wheelchairs. Lots of neat pictures you can take. Bring a snack, they supposedly have a restaurant inside, we saw possible sign for it. Restrooms only at entrances, that we saw, so plan accordingly. If you buy your tickets at the entrance plan on a very slow line, do to only one employee in booth and make sure you have exact change, because they will not have change. The signage for parking, ticket locations very poor and lacking. The signage in the park itself is very lacking and street numbers are very confusing so pay attention to the map they give you and track your route or it will be very easy for you to get lost. There are water fountains/spigots but they are not marked as drinkable. Please be respectful of others trying to get by you on the sidewalks and try not to block them or the room entrances and be courteous to the elderly people.
Kevin M — Google review
Fascinating archaeological park. If you are not familiar with the history, I suggest some light reading before exploring the park. Even if you are familiar with the history, I would still recommend to get a professional guide to explore the park as they would know which interesting spots to look at. Such a surreal experience to be where a civilization was buried. Also recommend to go in the afternoon as morning would be quite packed.
Lyn N — Google review
You have to expect it to be crowded, but in this case, it's not a problem as the place is huge!!! There's so much to see, highly recommend to book in advance and also to arrive early to be able to see everything. We arrived at 9am and left at around 3pm, so the people that come after lunch surely won't have time to see and walk everything. We had bought the Pompei+ ticket which gives access to the west area, it was nice but could do without it, specially when you're already so tired of walking all day.

Visiting the city of Pompeii was truly an unforgettable experience. The moment I walked in, I felt as if time had stopped. The ancient streets, the perfectly preserved ruins, and the powerful history behind every corner were absolutely breathtaking. It’s incredible to see how an entire city has remained frozen in time, offering such a vivid glimpse into the past. Pompeii is a place that leaves you speechless—impressive, haunting, and completely fascinating

Baia di Trentova Agropoli is a picturesque beach nestled amidst tree-covered hills, offering a mix of sandy stretches and rocky formations with shallow, swim-friendly waters. It's conveniently located near the town of Agropoli and boasts stunning views. Visitors can enjoy clean waters and explore rock formations suitable for various activities. The beach provides options for both public access and semi-private lounging areas, along with nearby cafes and bars.
Great beach with plenty of parking. I recommend you bring coins if you want to park in the street and use the meter. The credit card options does not work. Otherwise, you can pay €5 for all day parking. Very clean beach!!

The beach itself is amazing - however we were priced €30 for 1 sunbed and 1 sunCHAIR… Luckily, after some haggling we got one more sunchair with this price, thanks to good service. Nice water, nice sand, highhh heat. At the close-by restaurant we bought «hamburgers», which actually tasted fairly decent, but we were definitely shocked when it came like the picture says… Also ordered a small peroni, but got a giant.

Beautiful beach with fine sand and clear clean water. The sea is shallow for a long stretch, making it perfect for children. There’s a public beach area, and at the Lido you can rent two sunbeds and a parasol for around €30–40 per day. It can get crowded during the season. There are two parking options nearby — the private one on the left side, closer to the beach, costs €5 per day and is probably the better choice if you plan to stay for several hours, especially since it offers some shade. There are also a few restaurants in the area, as well as a bar serving drinks and ice cream — great for a quick break or light lunch.

Beach located in the heart of downtown Agropoli. Choose the public area or semi-private lido (pay a small feel for lounge chair and beach umbrella. Cafes and bars nearby. It’s a fairly narrow beach at the town center so convenience is high but there are nicer beaches.

Beautiful views and quiet on this December day. Easy walk over the hill from Agropoli and then the hike for the park starts very close to the parking lot for the beach. Water looked clean and no smell at all from the algae. Cool rock formations for climbing and throwing and some comfortable ones as well for sitting. It was an overcast day so we could not see the mountains on the coast but that is the season here and did not detract from the beauty.

Nestled next to the parish of St. Peter the Apostle, Chiesa di Sant'Anna al Porto is a charming little church with a rich history. Founded by the Magaldi family, it has undergone significant restoration thanks to Archpriest Giuseppe Mercadante, who transformed it into a more beautiful structure after years of neglect. This picturesque church is conveniently located across from Teatro Verdi and near Salerno's bustling port, making it an ideal stop for visitors exploring the area.
The convent is located in the place called "Porto Salvo", where the church of Santa Maria di Porto Salvo, known as Sant'Anna al Porto, is also located. The church, dating back to the 13th century, is flanked by the monastic complex dependent on the Badia di Cava. The complex was located outside the city walls, to the west, towards the marina. The place has undergone extensive transformations over the centuries. In 1544 following the assault by the Turks, the church suffered such devastation that no trace remains of the original complex. It was rebuilt at the end of the 16th century with an octagonal plan. and with this configuration it appears in the engraving of the frontispiece by Fabrizio Pinfo in 1653 next to the writing "Porto Salvo". The foundation of the adjoining convent of the Discalced Carmelites took place in 1682, therefore it was much later than that of the church in question. The convent expanded over time to include, within its own walls, the church of Santa Maria di Porto Salvo. In a map from the early 18th century, the ark of the convent of Santa Teresa appears, as Via S.Teresa, the connection point on the mainland of the port of Salerno. The convent was occupied by French troops and finally definitively closed in 1808. Then between 1817 and 1837 it was used for military use and transformed into barracks. Today it is home to the Carabinieri barracks. The church of Santa Teresa has become the pivot of the entire convent structure. Four long corridors develop around its octagon. Only one, the southern one (which at the time was in direct contact with the sea), longer than the others, creates a projecting body. And it is precisely in the direction of this body that the access to the former convent opens. The entrance forms, with the larger projecting body, a space which is then the cloister of the convent. Along the internal front, overlooking the courtyard, there is a loggia which still exists today, as a connecting element between the open space of the cloister and the closed one facing the sea (today the southern front borders other buildings). The church, rebuilt in the 16th century, and perhaps enlarged in the 17th, has a central plan with semicircular chapels that develop along the sides, and is surmounted by a dome. The entrance is via a rectangular vestibule. In 1849, the image and cult of Sant'Anna, much venerated by sailors from Salerno, which was located in the complex of San Pietro a Corte, was moved there. This is the reason why the ancient church of Santa Maria di Porto Salvo became Sant'Anna al Porto, a title still preserved today.

(Translated by Google) Beautiful and evocative. This church is located in front of the Teatro Verdi and near the port of Salerno. It is worth visiting, but masses are celebrated there only during certain periods of the year. It is open to the faithful on July 26 and during the Christmas period. (Original) Bella e suggestiva. (Translated by Google) A very evocative church with a distinctive octagonal central plan. From the outside, it resembles a stately palace, flanked by the former convent. Inside, the main altar features a statue of Saint Anne, along with four other richly decorated altars. It is an object of genuine and fervent devotion among local residents and beyond. The delightful Catholic sanctuary, situated on the sandy shores of Santa Maria Di Castellabate, exudes a tranquil charm. Regardless of one's religious inclination, visitors are warmly invited to partake in a mass or simply seek solace within its unpretentious yet captivating interior. Preserving the town's customs even amidst bustling summer days, the resonating chime of bells marks each hour of worship.
A small, charming Catholic church built right on Santa Maria Di Castellabate's beach. Being or not religious, anyone is welcome to attend a mass or simply to have a quiet, introspective break in its modest but beautiful interior. The bell ringing at each mass hour helps to preserve the small town tradition even during the busy summer days.
Julio C — Google review
The sanctuary Santa Maria a Mare (Holy Mary at the Sea) was formerly called Santa Maria "near the shore of the sea" and it is known as early as 1102, so it comes before the settlement of the hamlet and although with considerable transformations it is located in the same place where it was first built. With the notarial deed of 8 August 1826 the local families assumed the burden of building the new church. The decision to dedicate the sanctuary is due to the fact that at that time among the locals there were numerous families who arrived from Maiori with the eighteenth-century emigration. The latter brought with them the devotion to the Holy Mary at the Sea (santa Maria a Mare of Maiori), to whom they had also entitled the collegiate of their native village. Construction work ended in 1836 when the new church was solemnly blessed. In 1911 it was recognized as an independent parish. In 1985, due to the damage of the earthquake of 1980, the sanctuary was closed for restoration until June 4, 1990. On 25 October 2007 the church of Santa Maria a Mare was elevated to a diocesan Marian shrine. The structure consists of three naves divided by pillars and has a hexagonal bell tower that distinguishes the landscape of Marina Piccola. At the center of the apse stands the statue of Santa Maria a Mare, patron saint of the village. In 2017 the restoration was completed in the abbey of Cava De 'Tirreni of the statue of Santa Maria a Mare and returned to the church of the same name. Every August 15th of the year, the religious and patronal feast of Santa Maria a Mare, patron saint and patron of the city, is held. There is an inscription in relief at the front "Santuario Santa Maria a Mare" and the door of the central nave in bronze, in which are depicted in relief the image of Santa Maria a Mare and some events that have distinguished the story: the coronation at St. Peter's Square in Rome by Pope Benedict XVI, the pilgrimage to Maiori by sea and the arrival in the Sanctuary of the relics of St. Therese.
