Art Museums
Nestled in the heart of Juodkrante, Lithuania, the Amber Gallery-Museum is a must-visit attraction. This unique museum provides an immersive experience for visitors to delve into the captivating realm of amber, also known as 'Baltic gold,' which holds significant cultural and historical value in Lithuania. The town itself has become a popular tourist spot, drawing around 300,000 visitors annually.
You must visit K. Mizgiris Amber Gallery-Museum when you're staying in Nida) It is located in a quiet part of Nida, not far from the central part of the town and the Nida promenade. There's no problem finding this place when you're walking alongside one of the main streets - Pamario gatve. This small local amber museum is housed in several buildings. There are all important expositions in the typical peasant wooden house. To start observing the exhibition and get in, you need a ticket (a rather low price!). The most pleasant thing is that you can choose a language of sightseeing (Lithuanian, English, German, Russian). A young lady, passionate about her work, gives you the highlights on amber. It is amazing how many amber masterpieces are presented here. You can look at insects in amber through a magnifying glass and try a drink with amber. Leaving the house, you should continue your tour by exploring the installations outside and taking photos of the picturesque background. I definitely recommend this amber museum. It would be interesting to visit both kids and adults.

This place has a large variety of amber jewelry and suverniors which are really great designs. The staff is really nice and they tell you all about amber and the history of the industry in Nida. Prices are not the cheapest I have seen in the region but some products are really good so you can check out and decide.

The Curonian Spit History Museum is a delightful destination that invites visitors to explore the rich tapestry of the region's past. Nestled within a historic 19th-century fort, this charming museum showcases an array of exhibits that highlight the unique cultural and natural heritage of the Curonian Spit. From traditional fishing techniques to local flora and fauna, each display offers insights into life along this stunning stretch of land.
Modern Museum, with a small core exhibition about tradition and history, very often changing temporary exhibitions of art, some events and informative literature to purchase.

Small exhibition of life in the spit over the last 200 years or so, and a few prehistoric items of pottery and flint heads. Found it interesting it was a real East Prussian getaway location for the well healed, and for artists and intellectuals, especially Germans.

Specialty Museums
The Thomas Mann Culture Centre, located in Neringa, Lithuania, is a captivating destination for literature enthusiasts and history aficionados. It is dedicated to the renowned German writer Thomas Mann, who resided in Neringa during his exile from Germany. The museum is housed in Mann's former summer residence and offers a unique portrayal of the Nobel Prize-winning author's life and work.
Very interesting small museum about the life of Thomas Mann. A must if you're visiting the Curonian Spit
Jan B — Google review
Thomas Mann Culture Centre is a kind of visiting card of Nida) Located in a picturesque place this museum will pleasantly surprise you. There's no problem finding it when you're walking alongside Pamario gatve. The admirers of Thomas Mann's talent will enjoy Culture Centre so much. It is housed in one wooden two-storey building; small like all museums and sightseeing locations in Nida. On the other side, it doesn't seem provincial. Evaluate the unique concept of the museum - a combination of history, personal story and story of the Mann's family, modern design and the latest technology. There are nice exhibitions with animated elements and description in Lithuanian, English and German. Finally, you can go outside and enjoy the beautiful view of pine forest breathing a fresh sea air and smell of pine needles.
Iryna P — Google review
A wonderful surprise discovery. A beautiful natural setting for a very interesting cultural and historical story. Loved everything about it. How would I improve it? Encourage the lady at the reception to smile, be nicer and to proactively propose the audio guide which has a lot of informing in English, add the possibility to purchase actual books by Mann incl English. Otherwise- loved it. Plus coffee was delicious (Jura). A lot of connections to Switzerland too.
Magdalena D — Google review
Very nice place which is situated in or near OZAS geological park. Many rudiments you can obverse as this tiny little lake. Children has a nice place where to play (a multiple outdoor construction) Much place for adults and aging people. You can find the rudiment of the past- a stone which can be fitted for the throne chair. Wonderful!!!!
Kestutis G — Google review
You should go there because it is a very interesting place and you should not miss the beautiful view from the terrace. There you could listen to the audio guide which is also available in German and English.

History Museums
Nida Fisherman's Ethnographic Homestead is a small but well-maintained museum located in a traditional fisherman's house from 1927. The museum showcases original furniture, household equipment, and fishing artifacts. In 2017, the exhibition was completely renewed, offering an insightful look into the lifestyle of the past. Visitors can explore various displays including old household items, vintage furniture, and decorations. Additionally, there are projections and films providing further insight into the local culture.
Love the architectural style these houses have, can’t stop staring at them
Alex L — Google review
Fascinating small museum that displays the life and living conditions of fishing families eking out a living on the shores of the Coronian Sea. The artefacts and photographs predominantly originate from the early 1900's before the impact of holiday makers and tourism changed the lives of the fishing communities for ever. Enthusiastic staff, inexpensive entry, an hour well spent. I recommend it.
Stuart B — Google review
Very nice, small exhibition with original furniture and a free audioguide, in German and English, too. Our highlight was the movie in a special fisher's language and storys they tell!

Restaurant
Tik pas Joną is a local gem in Neringa, offering a simple yet delightful experience of savoring the famous smoked fish of the area. The menu features options like mackerel, eel, and more, served with bread and accompanied by a cold beer or kvas. Visitors can enjoy their meal while admiring the picturesque sunset over the lagoon. The restaurant's signature fish soup has received high praise for its exceptional flavor.
DONATUS offered excellent service about the time the smoked fish would be available. With 5 smoked sea bass left before the next batch in a hour, we grabbed the delightful sea bass from the outdoor serving counter with fish and eel in full view. The option to buy fries and veggies is available inside the venue with a full bar that is always busy. The fish comes with brown bread and white bread, and we tried it with beers and water. DONATUS showed me the smoking chamber with squid, mackerel, and bream but we needed to move on before the next round of fish was ready ready. Accessible venue with indoor seating. Outdoor seating in uncovered sunny area and covered area are accessible. Free restroom requires one step up
Toni T — Google review
Visited in Sep 2025 Stopped by this place for lunch during our day trip to the Curonian Spit. This establishment is famous for its smoked fish preparations. We ordered one Sea Bream and the size was good enough for 3 ppl. We were also given some complimentary bread. The restaurant also has a few beers on tap. All in all, a decent place to stop by for lunch if you’re visiting the Curonian Spit.
Avijeet S — Google review
Everytime we visit Nida we go to Jonas for some fresh smoked fish. We got a Perch (Ešerys) this time and it was delicious. On the board (2025-09-12) it said that the fresh fosh will be around 12:30 and 17:30. Sit at the table, go to the bar and get a beer while you wait for the fish to be pulled out. Get the fish, pay and go to the bar to grab some free bread. The enjoy the moment!
Mantas D — Google review
Pas Joną is a special place. They are smoking fish themselves, you can buy it directly outside. For drinks, chips, the delicious fish soup, sides and drinks are sold inside. You can pay by card. The fish was perfect and everything else as well! You can sit with a nice water view as a cherry on top.
Kevin “ — Google review
Craving outstanding fish in Nida? Look no further and check Tik pas Joną. Simple yet sophisticated, the smoked fish delivers mind-blowing flavor. The lagoon and dune views turn every bite into a pure culinary experience.
JGL — Google review
We arrived here (hungry) one July evening in the pouring summer rain of 2025; very, very good smoked fish with beer and wine available too. Far from fancy but yummy. The fish is sold by weight at the counter. We had a catfish that was delicious (and meltingly soft).
Mark S — Google review
Great selection of smoked fish. Wonderful experience Organisation of payment and ordering can be improved cos there were long queues
Yen K — Google review
Absolutely worth going to Nida just to get some freshly smoked fish with their signature fish soup. We were a group of 7 and everyone was just completely blown away by how good the soup was, it was an absolute highlight (albeit pricey). There was no talking at the table when soup was served, everyone was just in the world of their own trying to enjoy the soup. Smoked eel was the best we have ever had, everyone was speechless there too. Smoked flounder was also spectacular. Bream roe pancakes were very special, a must try! Went there everyday during our stay. A must visit destination when in Neringa.

Urbas Hill is a serene and tranquil place, perfect for immersing oneself in nature. Visitors can take leisurely walks and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. The area features a lighthouse that is open during specific hours, offering panoramic views of Nida from both shores. Additionally, there is an observation tower providing sweeping vistas, although the steep stairs may pose a challenge for some.
It’s a bit scary once you’re up on top but the view totally worth it as you would be able to see all of Nida from both shores. Tickets for adults are €5, for students €3 and Family ticket cost €8 which includes 2 adults plus 2 minor children. Be aware it’s very windy up there!
Alex L — Google review
(Translated by Google) The views are truly impressive! The old lamp remains, but is no longer in use :( The environment of the lighthouse in the middle of summer is terrible - overturned benches, garbage... The road surface up to it is made of crushed stone, so it is difficult for parents with strollers or cyclists to pass. The entrance ticket is so strange - a piece of paper without even a number (draw your own conclusions) (Original) Vaizdai atsiveria išties įspūdingi! Senoji lempa išlikusi, tačiau šiuo metu nebenaudojama :( Švyturio aplinka vasaros vidury baisi- išvartyti suoleliai, šiukšlės... (Translated by Google) Nida is located at the end of the Lithuanian part of the Curonian Spit. About 1,500 inhabitants live there, up to 50,000 in the summer! We are going to climb the Urbasberg, a dune of 52 m (9 m higher than the Kopje van Bloemendaal, the highest dune in the Netherlands). It is a beautiful dune landscape. The first (visible) staircase turns out - when you reach the top, panting - to go on for a while..... All in all, it is quickly an apartment building of 20 floors. Without elevator. It's nice to admire the beautiful view from this place! Here we see the entire width of the peninsula, with the Baltic Sea on our right. Straight in front of us is the Russian border, at least the Russian part around the city of Kaliningrad, which is between Lithuania and Poland. Funny that I immediately recognized this Curonian Spit with its characteristic length and width from the plane. On top of this Urbasberg lies a large sundial, and here we come across a bronze statue of the French philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre, plowing against the wind. The image was created based on an iconic photo by Sartre during a visit to this place in 1965, immediately after being denied the Nobel Prize for Literature, and at the invitation of the Soviet government. Sartre's words are written in the base of the statue: 'I feel like I am knocking on the door of paradise', and 'It is the first time in my life that I have the clouds under my feet' (Original) Nida ligt op het einde van het Litouwse deel van de Koerse schoorwal.
G.J. K — Google review
(Translated by Google) I would recommend climbing up and seeing everything from the top. The fee is €5. Of course, the image quality is limited by the fence at the top, there is no history about this lighthouse, but as a center of attraction and an object of interest - it is worth the price (Original) Rekomenduočiau užlipti ir pamatyti viską iš viršaus. Mizgiris Amber Museum, located in Nida, is a charming treasure trove of stunning amber pieces and artifacts. Housed in an old fisher's house, the museum showcases a diverse collection of amber jewelry, decorative items, and ancient inclusions dating back millions of years. Visitors can explore the significance and formation of amber while delving into its role in local history. The museum also offers the opportunity to purchase exquisite amber souvenirs.
It is small but has a very varied collection. A tour with a video is scheduled on different screens in the museum. In each video they tells very interesting things and in a way that captures your attention. When the video tour ends you have several small interactive activities with the amber. At first the ambat may seem indifferent to you, but when you leave it it is another wonder of the world. They have a store with different jewelry, rigor and so on, but everything is excessively expensive. In short: a museum worth visiting.
Nil T — Google review
An interactive, fascinating experience. Anything and everything about amber. There are all sorts of ambers presented in glass casing: large, small, see-through, not see-through, from different countries around the world, it's a pretty small, but very varied collection. the biggest amber in Lithuania is here. You can see, touch, and even smell amber. What are ambers? How do they form? Why're there all sorts of different things, even animals, in ambers? After going here you'll have pretty much every answer about anything you'd want to know about amber. A must visit in Nida.

We were able to see the many amber creations here at the gallery AKA gift shop part of the museum after the museum Closed. Disappointed to miss the 20 minute video if the history and mining of amber. The creations here are unique, upscale, crafted pieces, one of a kind. The small venue packs a huge amount of incredible amber creations

Best amber museum we have been to (and we seen many collections in different countries)🙏😍 Extremely well designed experience and beautiful collection. Here we learned about whole amber history from formation to how it has been used. Moreover, we came late ~ 17.30 and then tour they stream started at 17.00 so they offered us half the price for entry. Very grateful! Staff answered all questions. Shop is unique but of course overpriced as it gets with museums🌊

Nice and pleasant stop for a coffee with locally baked cake. The staff is old and grumpy but it doesn't ruin. The taste of the cakes.

The coffee was nothing special, but the freshly baked plum pie was absolutely delicious - flavourful, warm, and clearly made with care. Unfortunately, the service left much to be desired. Dirty dishes were left on tables, and the tabletops hadn’t been cleaned, which took away from the overall experience. Still, the quality of the pie made up for some of the shortcomings. Overall, a 7/10.

We tried kibinai with different filling (baked, yeast dough based, shaped like polish pierogi) and stuffed croissants (with marzipan - stole my heart). We also drunk coffee but as we are speciality coffee lovers we didn't appreciate it much. Anyway - best place for a good, fresh snack.

Lighthouses
Perched on Urbas Hill at an elevation of 79 meters, Nida Lighthouse serves as a vital navigation marker, with its white light signals visible up to 22 nautical miles away. The lighthouse offers breathtaking panoramic views of Nida and the surrounding natural landscapes. Visitors can embark on scenic walks along the hill's paths and trails, while also exploring the ancient forest in Juodkrante for a sensory experience.
Beautiful destination in the middle of the forest. You can easily park about 500m away and then walk along a path through the pine forest. The wire mesh has now been removed so that you can enjoy the view without any obstructions.
Eike — Google review
The highest-up view on the island. You can see Parnidžio Kopa, Nida, the sea, the lagoon, the forests. Amazing, not costly to enter.
Jonas ( — Google review
One of places in Nida to visit - great vies all around! Tickets was 5eur/adult, 11eur/2 adults, 2 kids.
Val S — Google review
very nice lighthouse with a pretty great view over the town of Nida and surounding woods the entry was 3€ i think, so pretty good worth it in my opinion you can park your car on the central parking under the hill where the lighthouse us located
Filip P — Google review
Amazing views, beautiful lighthouse, very nice lighthouse keeper selling the tickets.
Adrianna — Google review
Nice views from the viewing platform. The space up is rather limited - we were lucky to be alone up there. The walk up the winding staircase is not too long, only the ladder at the very end is slightly challenging (steep and rather tight). The walk up through the forest is okay, but not worth the trip on its own. The entrance fee of 5€ is okay to go to the top - even though as a couple of two adults you pay more than a family of four (rather strange logic).
Andreas H — Google review
Historic lighthouse was destroyed by German soldiers during a retreat in ww2 so this one is built afterwards.
Behlül K — Google review
The Nida Lighthouse is worth visiting 💯 You will be tested. It's like a local quest. At first, you have to find this place. Google maps indicates wrong coordinates but a lot of tourists and locals can help you. The next step is to pay an entrance fee (5 euros!). Finally, you have to climb the stairs to the top. It's not so difficult. On the contrary, fast and exciting. I advise to take warm clothes for yourself because of the strong wind at the top of the lighthouse. You will spend a little time there but the view is fantastic, breathtaking and unbelievable. Curonian spit, Baltic sea, dunes, pine forests... Really stunning views! It's a good idea to have a walk around after the visiting lighthouse.

Sundial, located at the Parnidis dune in Nida, is a 14-meter tall pillar that offers stunning panoramic views of the surrounding dunes. Visitors are advised to respect the natural environment and avoid stepping on the flora, as it takes many years for roots to develop. Accessible by car or bicycle via a steep road or by stairs from the east side, this peaceful and enjoyable place marks the end of "Tour de Curonian Spit.
Nice views of all surrounding areas. Sundial itself is big and looks very fancy, does the job I think. Would definitely recommend to go up there and enjoy the views. Have a look at sand dunes and Russian border.
Sharu S — Google review
Great views over towards the border with Kaliningrad. A few market stalls selling gifts. Toilet facilities are present but not great. Ensure you have mosquito repellent.
Troy J — Google review
Super recommend a visit to the sundial. It sits atop the largest dune outside of Nida, Lithuania - a beautiful quaint town sitting between the sea and interior bay facing Klaipeda. From this high viewpoint, you can see the border to Russia’s Kalingrad. The hike takes 15-20min from downtown Nida and it is a bit strenuous but lots of resting places with benches. Views are gorgeous. Highly recommend.
Andre A — Google review
A tall, interesting, old building. The surrounding area and views are very beautiful.
Jonas ( — Google review
Interesting site and sundial with lots of information and curious designs. Believe it or not, it does not account for daylight savings time. There is a good overlook to the peninsula on the Russian side of the border.
Adam W — Google review
A very beautiful place very close to the Russian border.
Juris O — Google review
A must visit place without any comments. Probably the most beautiful place in Lithuania. You can access it from the lagoon side by stairs or by a car from the other side.
Alis M — Google review
That was the last place we visited on our "Tour de Curonian Spit" and it was like a cherry on top. The only disadvantage of this place is lack of parking places, but there are big road works around so let's hope it will change soon. We parked near marked on the map "Parking lot" and then walked through E. A. Jonušo street to the dune, mostly through the forest and then joining the "self guided path" with few tens of stairs to climb. I would say it was 1km total. After reaching the top we admired the sun clock and the view from an observation desk on a whole valley, sea and bay. It could have been the end of the tour but we found out that we can go down on dunes and walk around the valley. It was awesome - wild, empty space, walked by few people only, we literally passed one person in the begging and a group of 5 young people on our way back. The best place to discover dunes on Curonian Spit!

If you're on the hunt for a meat lover's paradise, look no further than Meat Steak House in Nida. This gem mirrors its Vilnius counterpart with minimalist decor and an all-meat menu that will tantalize your taste buds. From dry-aged rib-eyes to succulent T-bones and filet mignons, there's something for every carnivore. Don't miss their brunch featuring seven varieties of eggs Benedict—perfectly indulgent for a leisurely vacation morning!
Good place for delicious food! Quite difficult to find, because it’s located bit further from the main street. Very delicious, with a little bit spiciness, mexican style beef tartare. Definitely worth to try. Iberico ribs and duck breast - superb taste. Highly recommended.
Mindaugas V — Google review
We had a nice evening here. The staff is friendly, and the menu comes with a short & helpful explanation of the meat. Good wine, and very good dessert (we tried the one with hazelnut ice cream). The steaks we had were good, but not amazing.
Nina K — Google review
Really good eggs Benedict. Well it takes some time but you're on vacation anyway. We also had a dinner here and were not amazed. I had New York strip. Meat was really good. But serving with fries only dissapointed me. For such price range I would expect something more fancy. Overall food is good and servings are big.
Darius Š — Google review
This was something special. It was one of the best steak dinner. I have amazing food (shrimps/ tar tar and steak) good wine card. Service was very kind and helpful. Dont miss to try dessert there! They are more than exellent!
Gintarė K — Google review
The food was good, although nothing impressive for their price class. The wine was quite overpriced; we paid 50EUR for a bottle that costs 15 at the shop. 120EUR for a dinner for 2, which seems to be on the higher end in Nida.
Gintarė V — Google review
If you need a good desert in Nida - lava cake at its best in this restaurant.
Rasa P — Google review
Nice place to eat. Very cosy terrace-yard. Food quality good but overpriced. Very short list of beer.
Edvardas G — Google review
Although the restaurant is called MEAT but precisely meat was the most disappointing dish that we ordered (black angus rib eye) - dry and tasteless. Definitely not worth the exorbitant price. Other dishes were ok, but just that. In conclusion, there are better places in Nida for the same price.

Nestled within a serene century-old pine forest, the Evangelical Lutheran Church offers a tranquil escape for those seeking reflection and solace. This charming church is surrounded by picturesque views and is conveniently located near the seaside, making it an ideal spot for contemplation. The nearby Ethnographical Cemetery adds to its allure with ancient wooden tombs that showcase unique cross designs, each telling a story of Lithuania's rich cultural heritage.
history throbbing.. you can feel.. you can see.. you can even touch the imprint of old times.. of days gone by.. fantastic place to be alone for a moment.. to feel the tranquillity.. and suddenly in the creaking of bench you can hear the roar of the stormy wind and crash of the surf..

The Parnidis Dune Observation Deck offers breathtaking views of the lagoon and the fishing town of Nida. At 52 meters high, it is one of the tallest dunes in Europe. The area is reminiscent of a desert, with shifting sands and valleys to explore on foot. However, climbing to the top can be dangerous due to steep edges.
Breathtaking views, panorama is soo deep you can see even the Russian territory!

Fantastic view of sandy dunes. Even Russian territory can be seen from here.

Biggest dunes in Lithuania, dangerous to climb to the top of edges, but there is plenty area to explore on foot. Some places reminds desert and on sunny day it can be very hot on sand especialy deep in valled between dunes. Be sure to take enough water to drink and some cover from sun, if you wanna walk all around in valley of dunes.

Nestled in the heart of Nida's central square, the bronze sculpture "Neringa" stands as a captivating tribute to a legendary figure from local folklore. Churches & Cathedrals
The Nida Catholic Church, located in Neringa, is a popular wedding venue for couples from all over Lithuania. Designed by the renowned architect Kristopavicius in the distinct style of Neringa, this church exudes elegance and charm. Its interior boasts a modern aesthetic with a delightful combination of light wood and white paint. While seating capacity inside may be limited, there are ample outdoor seating options available.
I recently visited this incredible church, and it was an unforgettable experience! The official opening ceremony took place on June 14, 2003, and it has a fascinating history. The 1.5-ton bell in the steeple adds to its charm. The interior is stunning, especially the white Italian marble baptismal font, which weighs 2 tons and has a unique boat-shaped top. The lower part of the font symbolizes a lock guiding people towards faith. The church also features a beautiful fresco by artist Antanas Chmieliauskas. One of the highlights is the amphitheater in the churchyard. When the church's windows and doors are opened, it seamlessly becomes part of the church, creating a perfect venue for open-air Christian cultural events. I highly recommend visiting this exceptional place!

Hiking area
Parnidis educational track is the best programme for tourists who visit Nida or Curonian Spit for the first time) Are you ready to overcome obstacles? If your answer is yes, then go ahead. You need a few hours to explore this track. How many hours? It depends on a lead time, your route and the aim of the route, the weather, the way how you are dressed. It would be better to wear comfortable clothes and shoes. There are lots of footpaths and wooden ladders but you will go through the dunes, a great amount of sand. So it could be a little adventure and unforgettable experience. The scenery is absolutely marvelous! A rough sea, lovely hills, evergreen forest, fantastic dunes and breathtaking views! Must try Parnidis educational track)
Iryna P — Google review
The lady in the tourist office advised us to visit this site, and we were well-rewarded! Extremely interesting phenomenon of the moving sand dune, of such enormous size that the town of Nida had to be moved away to a new location, and the old one was covered. The abruptness of change of the vegetation, from the planted pine forests to stop the advance of the dune, to small shrubs to totally bare fine sand was very impressive. The climb up was a bit strenuous, but the boardwalk is well maintained. A unique experience, highly recommended.
