Wat Chong Kham Temple is a picturesque lakeside temple located near Nong Chong Kham Public Park in Mae Hong Son. Dating back to 1827, it is the oldest temple in the area and showcases a blend of Thai Yai and Western architectural influences. The main hall features an impressive nine-tiered gabled roof with intricate decorations, while a large Buddha statue takes center stage inside.
After 4,000curve driving from Chiangmai to this place was so exciting moment. I don’t know when would I be back but for sure it was memorable. Recommend travel during winter time is safer than rainy season

The temple itself isn’t remarkable, but sitting by the lake in the evening, watching the sunset and the temple’s reflection on the water, was a unique experience. If you like my pictures, follow me on IG for more photography : @cleopatella

Visited after opening hours though it doesn't deter from entering. Just a quick tour around the perimeter, after night market.

One of the pair of temples on the lakeside. More ornate on the outside with the ornate silver ( aluminium) spires. Lovely Buddhas in each of the prayer halls. Do notice the green "jade" Buddhas alongside the principle statue in one hall. Lovely paintings on the wall in the left hand hall.

We walked around, it was mid so pics were hard to take. Not much to see inside. From a far it looks impressive with the lake in the foreground. 3btraveler

Temple by the lake - very interesting eclectic mix with elements of Mahayana and Hinduism represented too. You must visit their archive in one of the buildings - it's so fascinating, and such a random (to my eyes) of old collection (eg. Scrolls, statues, old photos) and Buddha stories that you'll have a consuming time, if you like such things
Mei Y — Google review
Worth visit if you are a temple lover. If you are not, there are couple of old stuffs to view... Drawings, Buddha statues, and lots more for you to explore ;)

Wat Chong Klang and Wat Chong Kham are two prominent temples located by the Nong Chong Kham reservoir in Mae Hong Son. These beautiful temples offer a serene atmosphere, especially during sunset when they are illuminated and reflect on the calm waters of the reservoir. The Burmese-style structures within these temples date back to the mid-1800s, providing a unique spiritual ambiance.
"Wat Chong Kham" and "Wat Chong Klang" are a pair of ‘sibling’ temples, as they are located within the same walls, and both are symbols of Thai Yai culture. Apart from their artistic beauty, both temples serve as cultural and traditional centers for the people of Mae Hong Son. The front area is a public garden called Nong Chong Kham, used as a venue for various ceremonial and cultural activities according to different traditions.
Cocowlyn — Google review
The temple is relatively centrally located in the city facing the lake, and perhaps looks most beautiful when darkness falls and the lights are lit. Visited the temple during the day on a Saturday and it was quiet and peaceful with few visitors. There are parking spaces along the road past the site.
John S — Google review
One of the two temples on this site, built in Burmese style and in wood, giving a very different feel to the many other golden temples. Do go inside and admire the golden Buddha and walk to the "museum" hall on the left to see an array of artifacts and wooden carvings - too much to adsorb in a single visit! The stupa outside is brilliant gold at sunset and beautifully illuminated at night with reflections across the lake in front.
Vincent O — Google review
Nice but rather small temple. Built in the late 19th century. Very nicely lit in the evening. It perfectly harmonizes with the reflections in the surface of the lake. Stalls are set up on the street opposite the temple on weekends. It is adjacent to Wat Chong Kham. It looks like a temple complex to me.
Mariusz M — Google review
Rather small temple in the city of Mae Hong Son. From some photos I imagined the temple was a lot bigger but actually quite small to look around. The style of the temple is a bit different from the temples you would see Amat Bangkok. Felt more earthy and relaxed- maybe it was because of the influence of the Burmese culture. It must be also pretty to visit at night as the light gets reflected on the lake next to it.
Miho — Google review
My favorite temple in Thailand. Built in mid 1800s for Burmese monks who spent time mourning the death of a local abbot. Inside is all wooden including a bamboo Buddha. The wood gives it a more spiritual ambience for me as compared to the standard hard flooring and gold temples. Recommend going to the room on the left where there is a series of wooden statues also carved in the mid 1800s depicting key scenes in the Buddha's life including when he gave his son and daughter to a beggar as slaves.
Wm K — Google review
Very nice temple this is a temple you need to see in Mae Hong Son. Its made of wood in Burmese style. Its a very nice temple made of wood. You must ask to in the museum in the main temple building. Its the door to the left you can see my pictures its amazing. If you need to visit a temple in Mae Hong son this is one of the temple you should visit. Its close to the public park and dam in the middle of the city.

Wat Phra That Doi Kongmu is a unique Buddhist temple located on top of Kongmu hill in Mae Hong Son, Thailand. The temple features two white chedis with golden spires that date back to the 1800s and hold the ashes of a chief disciple of Buddha and a former governor. The Burmese-influenced design includes two large pagodas offering stunning sunrise views over Mae Hong Son and sunset views over the Burmese mountains.

Last time I came here was almost 20 years ago. I visited again on September 2025. The place was lacked of proper maintenance. It looked worn out. But, yeah, nothing lasts forever. I loved to sit there enjoying panoramic view of this isolated town, absorbing peacefulness. It is the great place to recharge and revive your energy.
Oak N — Google review
Beautiful temple with stunning views! The temple is located on top of a hill, offering a breathtaking view of the entire city. If you visit around sunset, you’ll find a lovely spot to sit and enjoy the scenery. You can also hike up from the temple in the city if you enjoy climbing — it’s a rewarding walk. Next to the main temple, there’s a small memorial site dedicated to bikers who lost their lives on the loop. It’s a peaceful and meaningful place, suitable for both adults and children. There’s also a small coffee shop near the top where you can grab a drink or something cold to refresh yourself.

Beautiful temple up in the mountains where you can see the entire city of Mae Hong Son. Be prepared to hike up some stairs to get to the temple and the Buddha statue. The temple is simple but elegant in white and gold. They hung colorful lanterns in one of the stupas when we visited. There's a gazebo on the north side where you can see planes landing and taking off from the nearby ariport. It was a really hot mid-morning when we stopped by but there is a cafe serving refreshments and you can sit in front of a relaxing view. Parking is free and temples don't sell ticket/charge entrance fees in Thailand.

The Living Museum is a small but charming exhibition located in an old wooden house at the town center. It offers insights into the culture, history, ethnic groups, and architecture of the area through pictures and artifacts. While some exhibits may not have English explanations, it's still worth a visit as it provides a better understanding of the town's history and wider area. The museum also offers free entry with an option to make donations and occasionally hosts traditional music nights.
Cute little museum and I learned a lot thanks to Google Lens to translate the Thai to English. I absolutely loved learning about the MHS area and people and history. I only wish this museum was bigger with more things and pictures. Small gift shop. Free entry but you can make a donation in the donation box. When I was there they had traditional music night. Lucky me!
Brooke G — Google review
It's a very small but informative museum on the local tribes of the province (max 30 min to visit is sufficient). Entrance is free but most explanations are in Thai only so you need to use a camera translator.
Anastasia — Google review
A nice museum displaying the history of the town. Lots of photos, some statues of Shan people in traditional dress, etc. It would be much better if more of the explanations were in English but it is free to enter so one can’t complain too much. A good visit for getting a better sense of the history of the town and wider area.
Jacob W — Google review
Situated in a traditional wooden house, this museum shows exhibits of local life and culture. Additionally, there is a city map showing all the historical wooden buildings nearby - you might want to take a walk there after your museum visit! Free entry.
Dr. W — Google review
The museum is free. It's a room with pictures and artifacts about the history of the town. Not all of the explanations are in English, but you can spend there about twenty minutes or less. Worth it if you have extra time and are walking by. They alao have free maps of the town and the surrounding area.

Tha Pai Hot Spring is a popular destination located about 8 kilometers south of Pai town center and not far from Pai Canyon. The hot spring offers various pools with different temperatures, including a pool with warm water and another where the water is boiling hot. Visitors can enjoy the stunning view of the sun's rays shining through the steam in the early mornings. There are also shower and changing rooms available on-site.
An amazing place to chill, Water are super hot and separated to 4 different pools, with decreasing temperatures. The pools are much hotter then stated on the signs next to it, so try entering slowly and gradually. Overall great place and highly recommended for a visit. You can even hike a little to see the spring itself.
Niv G — Google review
Beautiful maintained hot springs. First you can walk upwards to the actual hot springs which are around 80 degrees and smell like bad eggs 🤭 Afterwards you can bath in very nicely arranged pools with different water temperatures ranging from 36 degrees to 32 degrees. There's a 300 baht fee for foreigners but I think it's adequate since they really took care of the place. I also would prefer this over the other hot springs (Siam Ngam) since there are more pools here. 🙏
Krbs — Google review
It’s actually very beautiful. Usual National Park Entrance Fee and a short walk, easy drive to get there. The water has clearly been channeled into the different levels (hottest at the top) and into the concrete pools. However, walking past these and up to the top to see the source of the water at the hot spring is well worth it, beautiful and steamy.
R2thebizel — Google review
Very nice water springs, has a range of water temperatures so you can work your way up to the hotter temperatures. We went in October and it was extremely quiet as it was low season so it was really enjoyable.
Rose H — Google review
Really cool place to visit - the springs are separated into different baths / different temperatures. The walk up is really nice. If you go up to the top you can find people cooking eggs in the hottest spring!! Definitely worth a visit!
Mollie F — Google review
Not the cheapest excursion in comparison to other activities nearby, buy really beautiful and relaxing. We arrived about 1600 when it was much quieter.
Kimjo L — Google review
Such a joy to be in the hot water. We brought food and. Eggs .we boiled the eggs in the hot water . Amazing

Very beautiful paid hot springs. 300 baht for foreigners. I don’t really agree with paying to use nature, but the site is well maintained and there are showers and changing rooms on site, just be careful of snakes. Four cascading pools at varying temperatures between 28-38C degrees. The source at the top is 80C.

Wat Phra That Si Chom Thong Worawihan is a stunning Buddhist temple complex that captivates visitors with its ornate golden shrines and vibrant statues. Nestled near the charming village of Ban Thawai, known for its rich tradition in woodcarving, this area showcases exquisite craftsmanship influenced by various indigenous styles including Lanna and Tibetan. The temple is part of the revered Relics of the Four Peaks, which hold significant cultural importance to both locals and travelers alike.
An excellent monastery for learning and practicing Vipassana in the tradtion of ven Mahasi Sayadaw. Indiviudal instructions and daily interviews are given by monks residing at the monastery. Truly a precious place for practice. The daily routine is quite tough with restricted sleep and long hours of practice. I suggest considering your current mental condition. Having ongoing psychiatric issues and doing a retreat here might be a lot. But the discipline helps deepen the meditation. For those interested in Theravada meditative traditions or in general want a place to get authentic instructions and guidence I recommend coming.
Tobias — Google review
I’ve stayed at this temple on two occasions for 10-day Vipassana meditations, and both experiences were truly transformative. The first time I came, I wasn’t sure what to expect — it was recommended by a friend — but I ended up extending my stay because it was so peaceful and meaningful. I returned six months later for another retreat, and it was just as powerful. The temple is beautiful and very well maintained, with a serene atmosphere that’s perfect for meditation. Speaking to others, it’s clear this place is especially well suited for Westerners, offering a higher standard of comfort without losing its authenticity. I stayed in a private, air-conditioned room that was very comfortable, and the vegetarian food was absolutely delicious — fresh, healthy, and cooked with care. All in all, it’s a truly special place that stays with you long after you leave. If you’re considering a 10-day Vipassana retreat, I couldn’t recommend this temple more.
Mags X — Google review
I had the privilege of staying at Wat Chom Tong for several months this year, practicing Vipassana meditation under the guidance of truly inspirational monk teachers. The teachings were deep and transformative, as the practice brings calm and insight, with benefits that carry over into everyday life. The temple really cares for international students, providing a comfortable and welcoming environment, and even accompanied me to take refuge, guiding me through this important step. I am beyond grateful for the teachers, staff, and community, and I wholeheartedly recommend this temple to anyone interested in mindfulness practice. Practicing Vipassana is the greatest gift you can give yourself.
Anna K — Google review
I did my first meditation retreat in Wat Rom Poeng Chiang Mai many years ago and in 2022 for my second retreat in Thailand I came to Wat Phra That Si Chom Thong Worawihan without realising that both monasteries are actually related - the root, founding and the same teaching methods by Phra Ajaan Tong and his disciples. I felt very blessed as a lay person to benefits from the original Vispassana teaching from the Lord Buddha that has been preserved, practised and offered by these monasteries and the Shanga community. I would recommend you to come over to Wat Phra That Si Chom Thong Worawihan, and be able to meet Phra Ajaan Art, the English speaking meditator for foreign students.
James L — Google review
Stayed here for a month and feel really blessed for the opportunity to practice Vipassana and learn Dharma under the guidance of a real master, and to meet some amazing people. It was also great to take part in some events and to experience Buddhism in Thailand. The lay community that supports the temple is very inspiring. This is definitely one of the few places in the world I will keep going to whenever I need a spiritual recharge.
Carlo A — Google review
I recommend it with love. Mainly because of the good souls who voulenter there and the conditions that allow you to connect more strongly, to something deeper. I stayed there for 21 days and it was truly wonderful, but also challenging, especially towards the end when you are expected to meditate most of the day. However, they support you with any challenge or issue that arises, in a gentle and embracing way. So it is recommended to remove any fear you have. This place will take care of you :) . I want to give a big thank you to the wonderful Jirapa ❤️ who accompanied and cared for us throughout the period and of course also to the monk who sat with us and guided us during the period. Also, thank you to the good people at the monastery and to Thailand :) for making it possible to spread presence and raise consciousness in the world, in a way that I have not experienced anywhere else in the world yet 💛
Avi A — Google review
I attended the international Vipassana meditation retreat here and this monastery has one of the best meditation programs i’ve been to - individualized daily meditation instructions and interview, complete amenities, and a supportive environment. The technique is very helpful and has helped me apply Vipassana in my daily life. Special thanks to my monk instructor, Phra Ajahn Art for the time and commitment in teaching me Vipassana and the wonderful life lessons, and to Phra Chotirat and Jirapa for being very welcoming and making sure that I had a great retreat experience. I would definitely recommend this to new or experienced meditators.

Coffee Morning Cafe is a charming spot to unwind with a cup of coffee and soak in the cozy atmosphere. The cafe's vintage decor and wooden building create a warm, inviting ambiance reminiscent of a traditional Thai house. Located in Mok Cham Pae, Mae Hong Son, this local favorite offers an extensive drink menu featuring Thai coffee, fruit smoothies, and healthy beverages at reasonable prices.
I discovered this place today in Mae Hong Son, and it’s simply wonderful. The decor is lovely, and the morning light is beautiful. I’m a photographer, and I took the opportunity to capture some stunning photos with the contrast between light and shadow. I ordered a Coconut Cappuccino and the Lychee Green Tea which was delicious. They offer a wide variety of cappuccinos, different types of green tea, as well as bread and cakes to eat. I highly recommend this place, and the people are also incredibly friendly, as always in Thailand.

We had a delightful experience at Coffee Morning. After meeting the owner of the shop at the night market the night before we were invited to try some coffee and have breakfast the next day. The shop was cool, and had lots of art and books to browse. The coffee was tasty and the bagels went down a treat. Would definitely recommend checking out this place if you're in town!

This local favorite coffee shop has a huge drinks menu. Very good drinks at affordable prices. The owner is friendly, she always gives us a small free pot of tea with our drinks. But don't expect her to greet you or wait for you to order. She does all the work there, so be patient. Just take your time to make up your mind, then order. There is a cute trio colour cat live there. She'll come around and greet customers all the time.

(Translated by Google) Walking to offer alms at Sai Yud Market, I was struck by this temple right next to the market, Wat Hua Wiang, Mae Hong Son. Shan art features the Phra Chao Para Lakhang Shrine, a wooden building with a zinc roof. Inside, a Buddha image is enshrined. It was cast in Mandalay, Myanmar, and then divided into nine parts. It was then floated down the Salween River. It was then assembled at Wat Phra That Doi Kong Mu and enshrined at Wat Hua Wiang, where it remains today. The Thai-Japan Friendship Memorial Hall Khumyuam is a significant tourist attraction located in Khun Yuam, about 143 km south of Mae Hong Son. It offers a captivating insight into the town's history during World War Two and the impact of the Japanese invasion on the local community. The museum features well-presented exhibitions with artifacts, information, and relics from the period. Visitors can explore the area's population, history, and geography through informative displays available in both Thai and English.
Stopped there with no expectations but have been so impressed. I am not much into war but the whole display was really informative about Thai, Japanese relationship and local traditions. It’s a small muzeum but it will took us oven an hour to read through all the panels. The building itself is little bit sad, as every building in Thailand after one year, but the display itself is really modern and well put together. Highly recommended to stop!!

We stop by cause it was on our way and found it pretty interesting. It all feel a bit abandoned, we didn't saw any people, so after watching monument outside we see there is also some museum there, went in a found it really interesting. There is a nice toilet too. On the way out we saw there is an entrance fee of 100 bht.

Interesting place to understand history. And a nice stop along the way. Combine with lunch or dinner at Dads Garden (Cafe).

It was along the way in our drive around the Mae Hong Son loop so we stopped by. The parking lot was empty so we decided to not to pay 100 baht to go inside. Thailand was Japan's strong ally during WWII and even up to now, the 2 countries have maintained strong ties. I like museums and learning about history but I did not feel the need to spend money here. Besides, we don't want to be on the road after sunset. If you have time, it might be worth your while to check out inside. But Google has provided great articles about Thai-Japan relationship as well.

Very charming Short 10 minute video about the towns history and the history of SE Asia during WW2, turns out i knew nothing about it. Then walk through the new and well presented museum (AC) see some of the artefacts, learn more about the area and its population, its history and geography. All aigns have thai and a well worded english translation (i assume its a translation, as i dont know thai;) Entry fee was 100 i believe but i think it was worth it. Have a great day!!

If you have any interest in history, this is a worthwhile visit. We spent an hour there and the kids liked it. The place is quite small but the exhibition is well presented in both Thai and English.

Quaint place, very quiet. The people at the counter didnt say anything and it looks deserted so we opted not to go in (tickets required if you wanna enter). We did a short look around on the outside where theres small tidbits of info regarding the friendship treaty. Ok to stop by if you're passing by

Nestled along the vibrant Wiang Mai road in Mae Sariang, the Mae Sariang Museum stands out with its stunning architecture that beautifully blends Lanna and Khun Yuam styles. While many might mistake it for yet another temple amidst northern Thailand's rich landscape, this museum offers a deeper dive into the region's history and culture across various eras. Visitors can explore exhibits primarily in Thai, focusing on local heritage and royal connections.
Great building and worth a look for its architecture. Exhibits all in Thai and, I think, relating to the King rather than the town.

Buddhist temple
Wat Phra Non is a temple located at the base of Doi Kong Mu mountain, near Wat Phra That Doi Kong Mu in Mae Hong Son. The main highlight of this temple is the viharn, which houses a stunning 12-meter long reclining Buddha dating back to the late 19th century. The temple complex also includes Wat Hua Wiang in Mae Hong Son city center, close to the morning market.
Nice temple.

I was there on around December 1998 with my enthusiastic VW' bug friend. It was start from Bangkok drive toward Ayutthaya, Ang-Thong, Singhburi then first stop at Tark for one night. Next day, we drive to Innthaanon International Park and stay one night there spent around that area. In the next day, we drive to Mea-hong-Sorn, catch on HW 108 & 1095 and stopped some interactive places along that route toward Chingmai. That tripped took me 7 days during the end of that year over the new year 1999.

(Translated by Google) It is a large reclining Buddha image. Built with Shan art, and is a 12 meter long reclining Buddha image which has very beautiful Buddhist characteristics. See Burmese-style architecture that blends seamlessly with Shan culture at Wat Phra Non. The roof of this temple is two-necked and three-chain and pan-shaped like Wat Phra That Doi Kong Mu. Interesting things within this temple It is a reclining Buddha with a length of 11 meters and 90 centimeters. Throughout, there are Buddha images in a meditation posture and various Buddha amulets, including the Lotus Khem Buddha, Sivali Buddha, and the Guan Yin statue. In addition, inside the ancient storage room There are also Tripitaka books and ancient objects. Bowls and utensils used by the Japanese during World War 2. At the back of the temple are two pairs of lions standing together. It is believed that Chan Ka Le and Princess Mia were the creators and on the opposite side there are two pagodas in the Burmese style. Inside the first pagoda there is a Buddha image and the second pagoda has four Burmese style Buddha images. In front of the second pagoda there is a large Buddha image meditating outdoors without shelter, which is very interesting. This temple is therefore another good program in Mae Hong Son that travelers should not miss. The origin of Wat Phra Non according to history says Wat Phra Non was built when Thursday, March 17, 1875, by Phaya Singhanathracha (originally named Chankale, a Shan), the first governor of Mae Hong Son. which corresponds to the reign of King Rama 5. There are 2 reasons for the construction of the reclining Buddha: 1. To commemorate his appointment as governor of Mae Hong Son. and was given the name "Phaya Singhanatracha" in 1874. It is also a celebration on the occasion that the village of Mae Hong Son was raised to the status of a city and 2. He was born on a Tuesday, so the reclining Buddha image (reclining Buddha) was built to be the principal Buddha image of the city. and make it a place of worship of the people of Mae Hong Son, however, due to events in the border towns not keeping calm The reclining Buddha image was therefore never completed. and he passed away in 1884. Later, his wife, Chao Nang Mia, ascended to rule the city as the second ruler. He built the reclining Buddha image, 11 meters long and 90 centimeters long, and continued until it was completed. and organized a grand celebration along with naming it Wat Phra Non after the place where the reclining Buddha had already been enshrined. and invited Kruba Chomphu to be the first abbot of Wat Phra Non. The miracle of the Buddha There is a story passed down that in 1934, the roof of the Reclining Buddha Temple was covered with fairly old zinc. One day, a cowherd boy came to take a nap in the temple while he was half asleep. Seeing that the reclining Buddha was getting up and running because of the heavy rain, and that the Buddha could not bear the rain, the cowherd boys ran into the village and told the villagers to hurry and see the reclining Buddha. Because the monk will get up and flee. When the villagers heard this, they flocked to look at the temple. and they were astonished that both sides of the reclining Buddha's feet It's actually bending up. And there is a little bit of overlap. His left foot is shorter than the right one. When that happens Groups of believers in the city flocked to see and help each other by donating a little to collect four items to buy new zinc to cover the temple in place of the old zinc. Later, in the year 1938, while all the groups of believers in the municipality and outside the area came to worship the Buddha image. It appeared that the sleeping Buddha had tears flowing from his eyes as if crying. This event happened about 6 months later, and a few years later, World War 2 broke out, which the villagers believed that this was a miracle of the reclining Buddha. That helps remind people not to be careless. And in the year 1943, in the middle of the night in September, after the world war happened. A group of thieves sneaked in and hacked into the back of the reclining Buddha in order to take the silver and gold ring that the first governor had put in it and carried it all away. But the villagers helped to repack the valuables and keep them sealed as before. Currently, that mark is still visible. As for the thieves Rumor has it that everyone has a problem. Whether it's true or not, this is a story from a miracle of a Buddha that the villagers respect. Wat Phra That Mae Yen is a temple located in the town of Pai, offering a breathtaking view of the surrounding valley. The temple features a monumental staircase leading to a large white Buddha statue at the top, providing visitors with panoramic views over Pai.
It’s a beautiful place came right as they opened up in the morning and we spoke with a monk who’s super nice and friendly and helped us with our Thai and how to greet a monk properly, very peaceful place beautiful views and very clean, it was under construction when we went but it didn’t take away from the beauty of it I would definitely recommend also there’s some cute dogs usually hanging around at the top and bottom. ( remember to respect the rules and cover up!)

It was nice to see but the Buddha was ‘under construction’ (bamboo scaffolding). You have a nice view from there but I guess there are similar if not better views in the area. Go early morning to avoid the heat. Although the stairs are manageable. We spent about 20 minutes there so it’s good to combine with other activities.
Carlijn K — Google review
The view is next level for Pai. You can see everything with a very short drive and walk. The Buddha itself is under reconstruction with restoration work part way, which was still interesting to see though the view White Buddha faces out to, is what makes this spot so special. No entry fee required. A local advised walking but I took a scooter, and after seeing the drive in I wouldn't recommend to walk this. The entrance is a large gate on the road, leading further up a driveway to the beginning of the stairs, the road continues to the right for cars and scooters.

The Buddha is under construction and repairs. It's not white at the moment and some pieces are broken. Not sure how long it's going to take, so be aware... Been said that, the viewpoint is just breathtaking! And another reason to go, is that good feeling you climed 300 stairs and survived 😃😃

I went here to meet the sunrises, unfortunately, the entrance close at 06:00 pm — so keep this in mind before visiting, there is a gorgeous view of the valley And very nice temple And not too much tourists — especially early morning (but maybe because it’s low season) In September- October 2025 the Buddha statue is being reconstructed here

Took a drive to here for the sunset, but it closes before the sun sets. It's an impressive image with great views of Pai and would be an amazing place to have the sun disappear behind the mountains. You can drive to the base skipping a long walk up stairs but there are still many steps to walk to the actual top.

Wat Nam Hu, a compact Buddhist temple in Mae Hong Son Province, is renowned for its tranquil atmosphere and picturesque surroundings. Although it may not boast elaborate architecture or breathtaking views like other temples in the country, it holds great significance for Buddhists as a place of pilgrimage. Within its walls rests a hollow bronze statue of the Buddha that once had water flowing through its head, believed to possess healing properties.
We had the most fun at this temple feeding and playing with the hungry chickens. They are so obedient, waiting for us to feed. We spent an hour there. There are hardly any tourists there. Also, you can hop over to the pond to feed the fishes too. They are very hungry. Overall, the feel of the temple is wonderful. Should drop by if one has the time.

Quiet temple with a fish pond and chickens to feed. There are two churches (one in the back) and two different styles of Buddha statues. I like the one in the back made from wood with gold accents. There is also a monument to King Naresuan near the pond. The chickens are in reference to that monument.

Surprisingly, there's buddha Oun-Muang that has water stained in the statute head and don’t know water come from where Although trying to prove many times, people believed that it was holy water.

Thai restaurant
Bai Fern Restaurant is a popular dining spot in Mae Hong Son, known for its Thai and international cuisine. The restaurant emphasizes quality ingredients, including organically grown vegetables from their own garden. The setting exudes class with white table linens and dark varnished wood, although the fine dining experience may be disrupted by live music performances. Housed in a traditional wooden building, the restaurant often features live band performances, creating a vibrant atmosphere for locals and visitors to enjoy delicious food.
Had dinner here with friends when we went to Mae Hong Son. Staff were courteous and food was delicious. The place was also packed with foreigners on a weeknight. Wishing this restaurant all the best.
Kelly S — Google review
As a tourist, I won't recommend it here. First of all, there are just too many mosquitoes flying around. Got bitten by a few while eating. Noticed there are mosquito spray bottles around. As for the food, the taste is just ordinary, can be rather expensive for this average food. We can find better food in Pai at a lower cost. Although the service is not bad, we don't think we will be back again.

It's always exciting to try new places, like this time. It was Thai food this evening, a little spicy, but better than normal. It is a large restaurant with room for many people, but not so many this evening as it was raining. The lights went out during dinner due to the weather, but a small candle did the trick until the power came back on. Many employees sorted things out and the orders arrived quickly.

Highly recommended. We tried Chicken wrapped in Pandanus leafs, pork sweet and sour, grilled pork with eggplants and fried bananas with ice-cream. Everything was tasty especially the chicken pandanus which was nicely seasoned and moist. Atmosphere was quiet and cool inside with greenery framing the windows. We were very satisfied and can highly recommend this place.

On their Local Northern dishes, you will find delicious gems! Best sausages I've ever eaten in my life! (No 5 on the menu) and the "Local curry with chicken and herbal vegetables" was really good (No 6) ♡

A great restaurant for the local area. It's perfect for tourists with English menus containing many photos and they also offer some western and Chinese meals. Food is tasty but toned down in heat to cater for foreigners. Prices match this.
Adrian M — Google review
The food was good especially the chicken roasted in panda leaves. The tom yum chicken soup was particularly good as well. Very solid all around. There was live music that was pleasant, mostly easy listening stuff but the musician was fairly decent not "lounge singer" "style which is good. Lots of room for larger parties.

Ordered 3 dishes (do not miss the local ‘Laab Kua’ dish) all were done to perfection, price is a bit above the average but reasonable given the portion size, taste and freshness. Seems like good management of manpower. Staff are nice and kind . Definitely would come back .

Guan Yin Shrine in Mae Hong Son is the largest Chinese temple in the area, dedicated to the goddess Guan Yin. The ornate and colorful temple features intricate designs with fierce dragons adorning pillars and rooftops. Visitors can pay their respects to Guan Yin and seek her blessings. The shrine offers a serene atmosphere for making merit and receiving positive energy. It's well-maintained, clean, and provides an opportunity for a spiritual experience.
A really detailed, ornate, colourful Buddhist temple in a Chinese style : many fierce dragons adorn the pillars and perch on the roof tops. It's really well maintained and clean with a lot to admire - hence my 5 stars. I'm not sure about transport from the town centre but we enjoyed the 2km walk there.

Buddhist temple
Wat Phrathat Chom Mon is a serene temple located in the northern part of Mae Sariang, offering a picturesque viewpoint of the town from across the river. The temple's establishment year is uncertain, but it is believed to have been built during the reign of King Saenmuang. Initially an abandoned monk house, it was later renovated and legally recognized as a temple. Visitors can embark on a scenic 3.
Came here mid day expecting to see a crowded temple like the other popular ones. To my surprise I was the only one at the temple for a while. When you drive in the gate you can continue straight to drive to the top or you can park and walk up the stairs to the left. The stairs were mossy and winded through a nice forest before making it to the top. I would recommend this because the view feels more rewarding after giving a little effort. Panoramic views of the mountains and town. Very nice for a relaxing evening

The white temple and the view is worth the visit and the climb, but for me the highlight was the moss-covered steps through the trees in the rainy low season. It was almost magical. That added another star for me.

One will find pagoda mostly on top of the hills or Moutain in Asia especially in Myanmar and Thailand. The view is nice and stunning.
HT H — Google review
There isn’t any legend that can tell the exact establishment year of the temple. However, it was probably built in the period of King Saenmuang, the 7th king of Chiang Mai. At first, Wat Phrathat Chom Mon was only an ordinary monk house and an abandonded temple. Later, some monks from other temple traveled to Wat Phrathat Chom Mon to stay there during the Buddhist Lent. From then on, the temple has been renovated and re-decorated. Finally, it became a temple legally. Nowadays, it looks quite beautiful. In fact, Wat Phrathat Chom Mon is also known as ‘Wat Pho Mho Lo’, called by villagers. The architectures at Wat Phrathat Chom Mon are mostly Chinese, Thai, and Lanna. These are interesting contemporary artworks. You should love this. Get your camera ready, wander around, and take a lot of photos. All architectures are neat and beautiful. There are sculptures on the ubosot, Naga statues as handrails, statues of Chinese god and goddess, Buddha statues, and so on. The area around Wat Phra That Chom Mon is a community of Karen people. You may want to take a look. That’s find. If you see any of them, just say ‘hello’ to them and try to make a friendly conversation. Don’t be awkward

(Translated by Google) Project to worship the reclining Buddha at 99 temples, year 2023 Temple 88, Wat Klang Pai, Pai, Mae Hong Son Wake up early and use the suspension bridge to walk across the Pai River to admire the morning atmosphere of Pai Walking Street. It looks quiet, different from last night when there was a walking street. The target is two temples on Pai Walking Street. First temple, go to the middle temple. The reclining Buddha of this temple It is a reclining Buddha carved from a large piece of wood. It is enshrined in the Pavilion of Mongkol Chaloem Phrakiat, which is not open to the inside. But it is iron bars and can be worshiped from outside the building. It is a reclining Buddha in the pose of nirvana. His body is dark red and brown. There was a golden headdress, a golden robe, and at the feet of the King there were 5 small disciples kneeling. This reclining Buddha is called Buddhadhammanarunatha The Buddha who possessed the Dhamma Behind the reclining Buddha, there is another Buddha image carved in a vertical wooden pole, in the posture of giving a first sermon, with elements of the Buddha sitting cross-legged in meditation. Presenting a sermon with a Prabhamonthon instead of teachings, five Panchavaggi statues and a deer, along with a pillar supporting the weight of the pavilion that is red with gold patterns. Makes the overall picture inside this pavilion look beautiful and worth worshiping. In the alcove on the south side where the daily Buddha image is located, there is another reclining Buddha image. It is a stucco statue of Nirvana. There are three disciples sitting in front of it. The reclining Buddha image is 1.5 meters long. The scene in the alcove behind the reclining Buddha image is made with a tree pattern. It looks beautiful. Surrounding the area are also several small pavilions that house popular Buddha images such as Phra Upakut, Phra Sivali, and Phra Sangkajai. There is a temple with excellent exterior murals. And on the sermon pavilion, you can also go up to pay homage to the Buddha statues. Next temple, Wat Pa Kham, Pai, Pai, Mae Hong Son.
