At a distance of 500 m from 80 Feet Giant Buddha Statue and It is a peaceful place where you can learn and practice Buddhism.

Built by the king of Bhutan as a tribute to Lord Buddha. It would be wonderful to see some of these temples in Bodhgaya being used for services/pujas etc. It seems most of these temples are just idle for pilgrims to visit.

The temple is very Good, the architecture is very fine. The garden area was very green although You cannot Roam in the garden area as it was closed. If you are coming to Bodhgaya you should visit the temple.

Its definitely my favourite place in Bodh Gaya.The structure is beautiful and the inside of the temple is more esthetic.There are many beautiful paintings and carvings inside the temple. Good. We took guide for inr 300. 1 hr trip. Easy and free service of keeping mobiles and foot wear. The sarovar inside is not clean. Rest all area is well maintained. Original bodhi tree is not there anymore. Was destroyed long time ago. Current tree is 1500 yrs old - as they say

The monastery is built in the Chinese pagoda style having an attractive architecture. Well maintained and peaceful atmosphere. It is very well maintained. Both neat and clean. Outside the sanctum, we have a statue of Kshitigarbha Bodhisatva. Beside the statue, there is a plaque explaining the significance of Kshitigarbha Bodhisatva.

The temple has a relatively newer architecture and thus stands apart from the rest of the monasteries in the town. We found the main temple closed and were told that it is yet to open to public. I visited Metta Buddharam Temple in Bodhgaya, which is known for its serene environment. The temple is beautifully decorated, and the atmosphere is calm, making it ideal for meditation. Neatly laid out statues, artefacts in large halls. Adequately lit, displays are easy to view. Campus is large. Entry fee is limited to Rs 10 only for adults. Rush is limited early mornings. Timings are 9 am to 5 pm.

A nice, little museum housing some of the ancient pillars from the original Bodhi temple and a lot of historical statues, artefacts, coins etc. Some of the pillars are of granite and some are made of sandstone. Also there are quite a few idols of lord Buddha and lord Shiva in different poses. The museum is fully air-conditioned and is open for photography.

It's a good place to visit for History students. It has 8th to 10th century idols of Budhha Shiva and many more idols related to Buddhism. Free for the age of 16 Years apart from that it's ticket fee is ₹10 It will take 30 to 45 minutes to see all around the museum.

Visiting Indosan Nipponji was a peaceful and beautiful experience. The temple’s architecture is colorful and unique, reflecting a mix of Japanese and Buddhist influences. The surroundings are calm, making it a perfect place to relax and reflect. One important thing that stood out was the lack of proper wheelchair accessibility, which I hope will improve in the future.

A serene and quite temple, the decor of which provides a archetypical example of Japanese temple construction (at least as I understand it). Please note that as of February 2023 the daily chanting and meditation sits are no longer happening, which is unsurprising in this late/post-pandemic period. Nonetheless, it seems that you are still free to come and do your own meditation sits if you want. It showcases Japanese paintings that depict important events of Buddha's life. Peaceful atmosphere and well-maintained.

Located very near to giant Buddha statue. It's excellent piece of architecture. As like other monastery this is also very colourful , photography is only allowed in premises but not allowed in temple. Excellent paintings, nice premises, very interesting stupas in premises. Please note that almost all temples in Bodh gaya are closed between 12 noon to 2 pm. Plan your visit accordingly

Very peaceful indeed. It has a chanting hall with Buddha statue. The Chanting happens in morning (5 to 6 in summer and 6 to 7 am in winter ) and evening for an hour ( 5 to 6 pm ) . This place also has school for kids, hospital as well. They do have special annual puja !!. It has a lot of painting inside the temple . There are cushions available in case you want to meditate.

The road is rather dusty as it seems there’s some construction going on. Although same can be said for most of Bodhgaya. The temple holds true to its Japanese architecture. However, it’s not as well maintained as the Bhutanese temple nearby. There’s a large stupa and bell as well as a small playground. The playground is meant for the kindergarteners schooling in the compound.

I am very lucky to decide to visit the monastery at the time I did. The temple is 10 mins walk from my hotel, I would regret if I didn't come. The entrance is on the side, not on the main front gate. I arrived around 8 am, they were having chanting ritual in the main hall with many young monks. Very blessed to witness the hall when it is fully lit during ritual. The light is turned off when there is no monk inside. So best time to visit if you want to see the monk students and temple when it feels alive is from 8-8:30 am and 4-5 pm (the monk said at this time you can witness longer chanting with more music instrument than the morning ritual) It wan special to witness the prayer and the music as I've never been to Tibetan temple before. It was also a joy to see many young monks as young as 6 years old on their monk school break. There is a small mini shop behind the main hall. I had conversation with 2 Nepalese monks about Tibetan monastery culture. I have learned a lot during almost 2 hours conversation. It was a true pleasure to start my day here. Best decision! This monastery is located in Bihar, India. It's specially based on a Mahayana traditional. The Dalai Lama and some other famous monks visit and stay in this monastery when they come to pay homage to Bodhgaya. It's a big monastery and peaceful environment around.

Beautiful and well maintained place. The entire Bodh Gaya is dedicated to Buddha and the area is peaceful and all temples are nearby each other. This one in specific is well maintained and beautifully decorated.

Beautiful monestry belongs to Bhutan, I think. Cool place and a religious study place for Buddhists. Anyone can go inside. The inner hall is nicely decorated with Budha is siting in Dyana mudra. Many siting tables are arranged for religious study and discussion.

Tergar Monastery was hosting Kenting Tai Siti Rinpoche. Also during the tome of the 38e Kagyu Mönlam. What a beautiful event concluded by the Marme Mönlam.

Started in 99/2000 finished 2006, is primarily a school for kids from the Himalayan region's up to grade 6, about 100 or so students. In the Lineage of H.H the Karmapa & Venerable Mingyur Rinpoche. I saw one night some of the novices during meditation, and it was not a a great example of self control, needless to say the Head of the Lineage Karmapa himself is embroiled in a scandal also.

This is a beautiful small temple with three versions of Buddha in the sanctum. It is very well maintained. Both neat and clean. Outside the sanctum, The monastery is built in the pagoda style having an attractive architecture. Well maintained and peaceful atmosphere

The Karma Temple is a beautiful Buddhist monastery in Bodh Gaya

Root institute is a Tibetan Buddhist centre that offers a place to stay, retreat, study, and participate in buddhist courses. There are a great number of residence buildings on the property for accommodation. Accommodation types available include multi-bed dormitory, triple room, double room, single room with common washroom, or single room with private washroom. Three vegetarian meals are included that are served in the canteen at 7:30AM, 12PM, and 6:30PM. In February (high season), I booked a single room with a common washroom for 1000 rupees a night. If you stay a month or longer, you can apply a 25% discount. During the winter season, there are teachers and lamas who come in and either host a week course or give a dhamma teaching during the day. There are also several drop-in events/pujas scheduled here every so often. It appears that anyone is welcome to come and participate in these drop-ins, even some where traditionally I think people would need to have received some initiation first. It appears that isn't important here. Interesting to note that Root Institute's spiritual guide, Lama Thubten Zopa Rinpoche passed away in 2023, and since has been without any direct successor. In February it was a bit noisy here at night. This is because there are some venues neighboring areas that appear to host some big events and sometimes play loud music throughout the night. I recommend earplugs for sleeping. Bodhgaya is not specifically the best place to have a quiet environment for meditation though. It is more of a pilgrimage town. Even the lama who recently came to give a teaching here said he doesn't recommend Bodhgaya for finding peace and seclusion. That said, it is still fairly peaceful within the two gompas (tibetan temple) here for meditation during the day.

I stayed here during my visit for 2 days and I had really nice experience here. The rooms are very affordable, and they include three meals a day and i can easily say with no doubt that i got more that what i paid for, office staff and other guests are very friendly, they made my trip so much memorable. I am looking forward to visit again.

I was at root institute recently. Excellent place spiritual seekers to meditate and connect one's inner self to the cosmic world. Food and facilities are also very good. Those who wish to dive deeper into Buddhism get an exhaustive library on the subject. Recommend every person of higher consciousness to stay there for a few days and experience a calmness of the mind and soul.

A buddhist centre in Bodhgaya, Bihar. Stayed there for 2 nights. They have basic facilities in rooms with ac/non-ac options. Bfast is complimentary. Lunch & dinner is also available but appeared costly. They have maintained a beautiful library with lots of books on buddhism.

After a flight from Vancouver, Canada,with several days in Delhi and then several more days in Varanasi, a long train ride to Gaya and a 3am tuk tuk ride to Bodhgaya…. I definitely needed some peace and quiet from the last 10 days and this is exactly whaat I received from my stay at Root Institute. Even though I did not take part in any Buddhist courses i felt welcomed. My room was a perfect. I found the time and place to practice my meditation and to calm my mind. The food was great. My stay allowed me time to visit friends get some dental work completed in Gaya and some much needed Ayurvedic care less than a 5 minute walk from my cabin. When I left after 12 days i was totally relaxed and ready to take on the rest of my vacation in India before heading come. I will definitely return to this wonderful center and its wonderful staff again.

Large Maitreya Statue and many small statues and stupa around the grounds. There is dining hall that also offers buffet style meals, eat as much as you like. The best place to be for self reflection and also self imposed retreat. Their canteen has been a saviour with regular timing to eat. You can focus on your cultivation without stressing on what to eat. It's peaceful and the rooms are basic but sufficient. The gompas are great for meditation and chanting. Their library is a bonus to studying dharma too. I love this place. So well organised and in order!

A very serene and calm Buddhist place of worship built by the Japanese. Very clean and neat both inside and out. Roof inside is made up of wood as in Japanese architecture.

This temple was built by the Japanese Daijokyo Society. It is situated right next to the Karma temple and on the way to the giant Buddha. The peaceful vibe of the temple is quite destroyed by the nuisance of beggars at the entrance. Having said that, definitely worth-visiting.

During my visit, I absolutely fell in love with its tranquil environment, which draws visitors seeking a quiet and meditative experience. The temple’s architecture, built in traditional Japanese style, features pagoda roofs, wooden beams, and intricate woodwork. The spacious prayer hall houses a serene statue of Buddha, and the temple beautifully embodies the spirit of Japanese Buddhism, particularly the Zen and Pure Land traditions. Local people shared with me that the Japanese Buddhist community has had a long-standing connection with Bodh Gaya, and this temple is a reflection of that bond. The premises are well maintained, and the cleanliness is evident through regular upkeep. The temple is located approximately 25–28 km from Gaya Railway Station, which takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour by car. Visitors can easily book a cab to reach the temple and explore other nearby tourist attractions.

One of the finest architectures you'll find in Bodh Gaya. I was in awe for a good few minutes just admiring how beautiful the temple was. The ideal time to visit is before 11am when there's little to no crowd and you can really feel the tranquility in the quiet environment.

My most favourite temple amongst all in Bodhgaya. The Japanese architecture is amazing and it totally gives off the Japanese culture and ethnicity. The inside architecture of the ceilings, the huge doors, roof top, the big bells, etc. everything was truly beautiful.

The only temple which was open other than the Mahabodhi temple during my visit to Bodh Gaya. This temple is beautiful from both the outside and the inside. The architecture of this place is very beautiful. This place is so peaceful and the best for meditation. The temple complex is clean and with many trees. Make sure about the timings of the temple as it remains close between 12 to 2 pm.

Indosan Nipponji Japanese Temple ,Bodhgaya is situated at Bodhgaya near Giant Buddha Statue.It opens from 5 am to 12 noon then 2 pm to 6 pm as per notice placed on gate. It is a beautifull temple.very neat and clean.One should, visiting Bodhgaya ,must visit this temple. The campus is having sufficient greenery. And showing goodwork of gardeners. Inside campus management is running a kindergarten and a free medical centre.

Muchalinda Sarovar is among the most sacred places in Bodh Gaya. Here Lord Buddha spent the sixth consecutive week in meditation after attaining enlightenment. It is said that when Lord Buddha was in meditation a strong storm rained down and seeing Buddha getting wet, the Serpent King of the lake, Muchalinda came out of his abode and protected Buddha from the rain. The Sarovar is also known as Lotus Pond. There are many fishes in the lake which the tourists who come here to see puffed up blossoms.

Beautiful, scenic pond inside Mahaboddhi temple. There is a track to go to the pond. At the entrance there is a big iron pillar and a building having many pillars to enter the pond. In the middle of the sitting Buddha statue with Sheshnag (Sacred Cobra Snake) over the head. Pond having fishes. On side of the pond there is washroom facility.

A beautiful and fairly deep pond with various kinds of fish especially catfish variety. Feeding the fish itself is joyful. It is also a place of religious significance and meditation. Most of the time it is crowded. A must-visit place in Bodh Gaya.

A Holy Pond inside Mahabodhi Temple. People loved to feed cat fish here. Spend some quality time here. This is a very peacefull place. Please do not spoil the sanitation maintained here. Do not litter here. This is a temple compound which is a World heritage site.

One of the very sacred lakes in bodhgaya. It is said that once when buddha was meditating a very heavy rainfall occured so to cover buddha from the rain the snake came out of the lake and gave him shelter so that the rain does not bother him. Therefore it holds a very significant importance in buddhism tradition.

Connected to the Sixth week of Meditation of Lord Buddha during the course of his enlightenment, this place is a big lake full of green water, probably due to algae... having Lord Buddha's Status in Dhyan mudra and is protected by Muchalinda, the Snake King. It is believed that during his sixth week of Meditation, when Lord Buddha came here to sit and meditate, there was a strong storm came along heavy rains. Muchalinda, the Snake King then protected him form the storm and hence the Statue.

The great monstrous snake Seshnaga saved Buddha from certain in this waterbody. There are quite a few idols and many fish in the water who can be fed. Lovely sight of fish feeding.

Plays prayers disturbingly too loud which can be heard from inside of the Bodhi Tree Complex.

Masjid is a very peaceful and calm place, I pray Jummah namaz here. Namaz time is 01:05 PM on 21 July 2023. If you want to pray with greenery all around, I want to recommend this mosque to pray! Remember me in Dua please!

The Tibetan temple is situated just opposite to the main Mahabodhi temple. The monastery is built by the Tibetan government and is huge, magnificent and peaceful. It is supposed to be open till 6 pm but we found it closed before 6 and couldn't enter the main temple.
