Went on a Augsburg Fugger Tour. Last stop was the Fuggerei. Have always been curious about it and it's history. Quite amazing that it still exists till this day an age and functioning the same way it always has. Absolutely incredible. The grounds are extremely well kept and just a beautiful part of living history. Must go when you visit Augsburg. After the tour you can also visit tiny beer garden by the entrance.

Really cool to hear about how this social housing was started. The people can live here for €1 per year, and just have to be Catholic, pray everyday, and be in need. It’s definitely worth the €8 entrance fee.

It was a wonderful experience visiting the world’s oldest public housing. We went on a weekday morning, and the atmosphere was calm and peaceful, which made exploring even more enjoyable. Purchasing the ticket at the entrance was simple, and the site itself was easy to navigate. The area is beautifully maintained, with so much attention to detail that you really feel immersed in its rich history. Walking through the space gives you a true sense of cultural heritage, and it’s both educational and inspiring. I would definitely recommend this visit to anyone interested in culture and history—it’s a unique opportunity to step back in time and experience something truly special.

I visited The Fuggerei on two different trips, once in 2010 and then again in 2023. It's a neat experience with in Augsburg and i definitely recommend checking it out. The history here is interesting for sure and the architecture in germany in general always amazes me. I would recommend tickets in advance, although was not busy when we went. My aunt had picked them up ahead of time for us.

A fascinating historical place that is definitely worth visiting. It beautifully combines the charm of the past with the spirit of the present. I loved the peaceful atmosphere and the feeling of stepping back in time. The houses and small museums provide a wonderful glimpse into old life, and everything is well organized for visitors. Highly recommended when in Augsburg.

I was surprised for the big dimensions of this cathedral, very nice building with many paintings inside, very interesting if you are interested in history and architecture.

It is impossible to express the atmosphere with words. Everyone must feel it for themselves. It's very old and massive cathedral not very far from city hall. It is home to oldest surviving stained glass. The paintings with some dating back to 11th century are authentic. Be aware that it closes at 6.

A very beautiful The Cathedral of Augsburg, founded in the 11th century. Very detailed art works with original stained glass. You can easily spend 45 minutes walking around inside and out. We went on Sunday and did not pay to get in, not sure if there is s fee at all. It is worth the visit.

Medieval Cathedral that was renewed with the Gothic style. 62m high and impressively high with beautiful art glass work, a corridor full of saints/priests Tombs. shrines surrounding the main altar. its the icon of the city.

Worth visiting. They closed at 18 but we managed to have a quick tour around the church.

This cathedral is the most visited site in Augsburg and also it's most important church. It's founded in the 12th century but the original church even dates back to 8th century and it is a Roman Catholic church. Through the years many reconstructions were made and now it has neo-Gothic style as well. It was an interesting and calming experience to walk inside and enjoy the silence and the beauty of the arts inside.

I highly recommend visiting this place! It’s a beautiful spot for a walk, with plenty of space to explore and enjoy. I visited during the winter, so it was quite cold, and we didn’t get to see many animals like giraffes, elephants, and a few others. However, the experience was still lovely, and I’m sure it would be even better in warmer seasons when more animals are out. Definitely worth a visit!

Nice smaller zoo. Lots of animals. Fair entry price. Not the biggest and best but great. Advertise feeding times. We where lucky to catch the seelions. Staff was friendly and helpfull at the entrance and shops. Except at the Maki's. Totally rude and unwilling to speak anything other than German. Not understanding each other leads to situations that need to be avoided. And yes I understand you but don't speak it good enouf. I'm not deducting a point for the incident but hope you speak to your staff! Instruction can be given in a friendly manor and in example English.

Such a nice amazing place I loved it 😍 In this season they didn't have many animals because it's winter so they made a light show thing that looks amazing 😍 I recommend going after it's dark because that's when the lights open ❤️❤️❤️

We first went there on a Public holiday and it was impossible. There was no parking, the cue was very very long. I guess one could wait upto two hours. We decided to go back home and reschedule. We went back on a Thursday and it was worth it. Entrance fee was 14 euros for adults. We parked close to the entrance and there was no cue at all. We arrived one at 16:00 and the zoo closes at 17:00 thus we had to rush. It was around feeding time and it was interesting. We enjoyed the walk around the zoo and the animals were looking healthy and well taken care of. Some few walk ways were closed and the restaurant too. We could not see some animals. The play ground is huge and for all age groups though we could not use it due to time. Some animals were already indoor due to the changing weather example giraffe,zebra and Elephant Overall it was a good experience and we shall go back in summer.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Augsburg Zoo, and I must say that it was a truly enjoyable experience. The first thing that struck me was the impeccable maintenance of the zoo. It was a joy to see the fascination in their eyes as they observed these magnificent animals up close. However, I did notice that a few of the exotic animals seemed slightly agitated during my visit. While this was a minor concern, I sincerely hope that the zoo's dedicated team is working to alleviate any distress they may be experiencing. It's essential to prioritize the well-being and comfort of all the animals, and I trust that the zoo is taking appropriate measures to address any issues. The zoo's amenities were also worth mentioning. There were well-placed seating areas and picnic spots throughout the park, providing ample opportunities for families to take a break and enjoy their surroundings. Additionally, the availability of refreshments and snacks made it convenient for visitors to stay energized during their visit. Overall, Augsburg Zoo is a fantastic place to spend a day with the family. The well-maintained facilities, happy and healthy animals, and the educational experiences it offers make it a great choice for both young and old. While there were a few animals that appeared agitated, I believe the zoo is committed to their welfare. I wholeheartedly recommend Augsburg Zoo for a memorable and enriching outing for the whole family.

Really enjoyed my Visit,I didn't know what to expect,Many surprises Particularly Baboons and Buffalo,Bird House and Beavers indoors. Catering was excellent. My ONLY disappointment was the litter lying around.

Augsburg zoo is fun but its not that big and compared to other city zoos its a bit small as well. We were not aboe to looknon Girffe,Elephants or lions but overall it was okay. My kids had fun in kids playing area. You can visit with kids to look animals.

Amazing place! Staff is very helpful. The guy from the main gorgeous room told us a mirror 🪞 secret. The lady from reception was super friendly. Highly recommend!

This building has a pearl of German baroque: very beautiful hall. Apart from that, this is nice little muzeum with good collection of art, especially local painters. The good thing also, there are almost no people. So, I suggest to spend an hour here while visiting Augsburg.

I visited on Sunday with free entrance. you can see 3 rooms in the 2nd floor full of art paint works and furniture from the 1700's. the whole 1st floor is available to visit with multiple art works that leads you from a room to another until you reach the Gallery Hall full of decorations and mirrors. theres a garden designed from that era that offer relaxation.

Very very nice place to see in Augsburg, maybe as same astonishing as a very close and much more known Goldener Saal in Rathaus. And if you visit it on Sunday the entrance is free, although it is absolutely worth it a few euros on any other day :)

Lots of great art and the ballroom was amazing!

Visited during the first Sunday of the month. It was only 1€ entrance fee. The were so many beautiful paintings and the Ball room was fantastic.

Good place , the fest hall is really beautiful.Would have been a little more enjoyable, if there were english translations as well for all the exhibits.

built in the 1600's by Elias Holl with the late renaissance architecture. it is the icon of the city with Eagle painting on the front and the pine coat of arm on the Top. impressive architecture and the entrance is free on the Groundfloor where you can visit the war memorials and ancient relics and modules from the City.

Quite a sight to behold from the outside, more so on the inside. Only a €2.50 entry fee for adults to enter the Goldener Saal (Golden Hall), which is very impressive. You can also visit a couple of informative exhibitions for free on the ground floor, including a brief history of Augsburg.

Wow. The golden room is definitely worth visiting. Reasonable €2.5 per person to visit. This beautiful building has a hidden golden nugget inside. Literally. The golden room has over 2.7kg (5Lbs) of gold coating all over the moldings and statues. The history of this over 450 years old building is fascinating, and how it survived and was rebuilt after WW2. The staff dis knowledgeable and super helpful with any questions when visiting. They even offer a folder in English or Spanish for international visitors.

The "golden saal" or the golden hall inside is beautiful and amazing. The entrance fee is cheap especially if you are student, anyway to enter the rathaus is free. You will also have a good view of the square down below from the hall.

Anyone interested in pupeting will love this place. Take the tour with the tour guide to really learn the ins and outs. Our guide was superb and very knowledgeable. The puppets that have been used in many shows were on display. Definitely a worthwhile visit. don't forget the show it was also very enjoyable

Very beautifully made puppets . These were used to make the old cartoons and story books. The exhibition is small . There was a wall projected some introduction thing at the begining . When I pressed it to see , a guide who was explaining to a group came over and turned if off. I found is offensive and overall didn't find the place that worthy to spend 5 eur . One can probably check out the photos at Google maps for this place .

Perfect getaway from the rain in Augsburg these days. Worth the price for a unique experience.

Extraordinary craftsmanship in every display and so much history in every piece. Would have loved to see a puppet show, but that's for the next adventure. Be sure to sign the guestbook!

Went to explore the puppet museum, which was very impressive, due to the details of each single puppet. Finally enjoyed the "Der Ring der Nibelungen", which was the first performance after Covid lockdown. By the way, it was an excellent show.

Simply magic place to be, both as a kid or adult. This puppet theater is a cultural visit card of Augsburg. It has a huge history and yet every season surprises with the new program. Must see in Augsburg! Puppet theater art mostly vanished in the modern Europe, so this theater is a unique preserve of century old fairy tales traditions. It was nice. Museum five star ✨ The play, hm, the kids were in our lap all the time, they couldn't see,and we were somewhere in the middle.

What incredible deep history and gorgeous architecture. Incredibly sweet people who love Jesus! We went here 2 weeks in a row and thoroughly enjoyed our time. Highly recommended!

St. Anne's Church is a beautiful medieval Church. A must-see if in Augsburg.

If you are visiting Augsburg, take the time to visit this church, not only is it beautiful but there is an exhibit that explains the birth of Protestantism and the struggle with Catholicism to co-habit in the region. The exhibit is very well done, the only part I would suppress, is a recording next to an open chest that repeats on a rather creepy voice: “Du bist ein Sünder” (you are a sinner).

A great and historical church in the center of Augsburg. The interesting thing about this church is that the church converted tk Protestantism but Jakob Fugger (one of the richest people to ever live) built a cathedral which connected with the main church. The cathedral is catholic. Meaning that 1/7 of the church is catholic and the rest Protestant. The Actually church is great for religious purposes and the design is lavish and interesting.

A real treasure - besides being historical, there is much beauty to be found inside as well as the original painting of Martin Luther attributed to Cranach. This church began as a Carmelite cloister in the early 14th Century, and other major portions of the building date to the late 15th Century and right around 1600. The small, older chapel is stunning. This site is well worth the visit - allow time to take it all in!

INSIDER TIP: Not everyone knows, but apart from extraordinary beautiful main room in Sankt Anna, there is hidden small praying room at the north side of the church - Goldsmith Chapel. It is decorated with the old handcrafted Fresco paintings, dated between 1420-1485. The church Sankt Anna is a special place in Augsburg. It brings so much calmness, surrounds a visitors with its ambience and amazing combination of colors and light: yellow and white - from the windows, pink and heavenly blue reflected on the roof paintings. It has always been a resting place for my soul. It is perfectly build and decorated outside and inside. During the normal times the organ music concerts are simply marvelous.

This lutherian church is marvelously decorated, because it used to be catholic until the reformation. Really beautiful! The Fugger chapel, donated by the Fugger family before the reformation where the tomb of Jakob the Rich is located, still belongs to the catholic church today. Also notable is the Luther museum located on the first floor. A must see when you are in Augsburg!

Lovely museum with very helpful staff. Entrance fee is 7 Euro per person. But if you go as a group of 10 it will become 5 Euro per person.

A rich and informative museum on the history of the city. Must see when in Augsburg.

Some nice exhibits about the architect of many Augsburg landmarks, but not much else. Only takes an hour and a half, but the museum closes about 15 minutes before the stated time.

Most information only in German. Staff were unbelievably hostile and literally hounded you out of rooms. Also overpriced for the museum content. But really can't stress how bizarre and antagonistic the staff are

security guards hound you to follow the line and won't let you re-enter an exhibit, as well as just following strangely close behind throughout every room. collection of gold and silverware was interesting, but only a small part of the 2nd floor, the majority of it is dedicated to the sketches and models of elias holl

Very nice place with a reasonable entry fee paid at the entrance. There are lockers located to the right just after the entrance if you need them. The Japanese Garden is a highlight, but also the large green with furniture near the cafe and play areas are a lovely place to rest on a sunny afternoon.

Beutifull Botanical Garden. Not small but not so big. There are some rest places with chairs and sometimes with tabkes, so people can rest take some food with and to eat on the nature. Also there are some cafe on the territory of Garden, so people can eat something to drink bear or coffee, or to eat ice cream. Good place to visit with children. It's cost only 4 EUR. I think the best time to visit it's spring, when there are will be a lot flowers.

I can’t tell how much I love this place. The fresh air, lush green trees, and peaceful atmosphere make it perfect for a relaxing walk on a sunny day. The Japanese garden is a true work of art.

This is a wonderful place to relax and see so many wonderful plants. I was very much inspired with ideas for my own garden.

Really neat basilica in Augsburg. They also have a crypt! Great spot to stop in especially to get out of the cold.

The main part of the church is covered in scaffolding but it is still open. The church has a huge interior and it is free to visit. Photography is permitted at all places. The three separate alters at the front are quite unique IMO. Well worth a visit.

One of the main churches in Augsburg. A beautiful Gothic style basilica holding the largest organ in the city. An impressive altar showcasing the marvellous German architecture of the period with delicately carved sculptures. The pulpit is new. This church holds an important place in the history here and is adored by the residents of Augsburg. It is worth the visit and time.

After hearing much about this church from my father who grew up and served as an altar boy 🙌🏼here, I had to finally experience it for myself when I went back to Augsburg w family, to family after Dad's passing. It was an early Sunday morning brisk walk, and large creaky door was unlocked so I looked around on a bit of a self-directed tour. It started in 1012 as the Benedictine abbey of Saints Ulrich and Afra. You'll find much info of local history behind the name(s) as well. But part of said tour ahem-included getting lost in a basement tier for awhile - among olde crypts with wall torches in amongst a maze of small adjoining rooms - some w low open doorways. It was an entirely different world from the upper Church, that more than demanded my reverence. The 'basement' tier of what I got to see that day gave that whole perception of stepping out of a time-machine if you will - of virtually 1000 years ago so much so, it was almost palpable. This being just a smidgeon of that morning's whole experience that had me gasping as it took my breath away. It's hauntingly beautiful. If you're there you must see it. And almost around the corner, what turned out to be the oldest doll house furniture & accoutrements place found me! Housed in a well-kept privately owned store that I was surprised to find as I hurried back. Its modest yet fantasy-laden window beckoned, and could have easily swept me up for the afternoon too - but now I digress faaar off the mark (😶‍🌫️ a big 🇨🇦 sorry to you) Merely more tidbits that can't help but prove the beauty and history of Old Augsburg. This old church consists of 3 huge carved altars: the main high, the north and the south one. There's the tall wrought iron gating as you enter. It also long holds and maintains what continues to be known as the biggest pipe organ in the city, where regular organ concerts have long occurred and still do, the same one Mozart himself gave an impassioned performance on in 1777. A couple of small but not so diminutive, elaborately carved 'hooded' balconies perched here and there, and the central carved Rococo bishop's pulpit, painted vaulted ceilings, the old-World craftsmanship is everywhere you look. It represents at the very least as an elaborate example of Gothic and Renaissance architecture. I always dreamed of seeing this Church as Dad would almost whisper stories of his youth and his admiration for its historical significance of both my parents' hometown. Unfortunately it had to be without him but at least I did eventually get to see the place I heard so much about. Do yourself the favour of a lifetime and if the opportunity presents itself, go without rushing and bask in its art, and in its somewhat humbling effect from its history of some extremes. If you're anything like me - and even if you're not, you'll surely never forget it!

Catholic Basilik with late gothic interior architecture and baroque style identify the externl dom thus currently under renovation. the church includes the relics of St.Afra and St.Ulrich which you can visit to pray under the main altar and it holds a historical significance where 2 roman german emperors were crowned here.

Another impressive Catholic Basilica. Beautiful interior as well as exterior. The architectural splendour is worth a visit and you will be in awe definitely.

15th century church with roots dating back to 10th century is a mixture of Renaissance style with major Gothic architecture design. It's significant features are the red roof and the onion shape dome of bell tower. This inspired other churches in Bavaria to adopt the design. You must visit this church if you pass by Augsburg.

another architectural piece from Elias Holl, built as a watchtower in the Imperialera. 70 m high with St.Peter's church. it's closed totaly for renovation, and it was unfortunate not to could witness the Town panoramic view.

FYI, closed from October 31 until April. It’s not listed on the tourism website or the google listing. It’s posted right at the entry door. Would love to give it a higher rating, but we drove quite a distance for naught. The rest of the city is nice enough, though.

About 400 steps you need to climp to have the most memorable view over Augsburg. The tower guards can tell you witty anecdotes (they even sell for some euros a small book with interesting details on the tower's hitory), for children they have honorary certificate for climing the tower and with good weather you can see in the South the beautiful Alps. <3

The 70-metre-tall Perlachturm is a tower in the central district of Augsburg, Germany. Originally built as a watchtower in the 10th century, it is nowadays part of an ensemble with the City Hall of Augsburg, a landmark of the Reichsstadt.

A special place to spend a few minutes with our lady, untier of knots. Also the location where Pope Francis spent many a day during his stay in Augsburg.

Entrance Fee is 2.50€. Totally worth it for a museum so well-taken-care of. A must-see when in Augsburg, and even a reason for Theater lovers to visit Augsburg. Small but rich in content, presented in a modern way and accompanied by a free online video guide in german and english.

Weberhaus in Augsburg is the special cultural herritage, picturesque historical building. One of the visit cards of the city, it now contains the boutiques and shops. Outside decor is worth of travel magazines covers ;)

Quaint tucked away gardens and small museums. On inside big garden and park surrounding 2 sides. Good for playing with kids and dogs. Nice stream next to it too.

its an old city gate that hides a garden and an old theater which is closed except in events. the passage under the gate gave the feeling of that era. awesome experience.

The most beautifull and best fortified gates of Augsburgs historic town wall. In summer there is a medieval festival arround the gate. when you are there, also visit the historical water towers northern of the gate.

Wonderful place to see some skyscrapers of Augsburg. Of course they're not that big, but I love the old towers in this landscape. Great place to chill and enjoy the good weather.

21 stations of informations on charcoal/diesel old trains, bunkers, train station old equipments. a collection of historical trains in Hangar, souvenirs, resto and a large train Model. a very interesting museum, well organised, friendly staff, many activities for kids.

Amazing and just the right size. I took the grandkids (9, 5, 4). We stayed for about 3 hrs. They wanted to come back the next day! There is a nice model train area and some train engines the kids can climb into and pretend play. Everything is beautifully maintained. I was never particularly fascinated by trains before but I fell in love with some of the ones in the museum. Voila, one is never too old for love!

A really unique place with a lot of different train locomotives. The stuff was really friendly and was down to explain how the vehicles worked.

Awesome place too visit and spend couple hours admiring all sorts of German locomotives and rolling stock.

While not as varied as Koblenz or vastly comprehensive as Nordlingen, this railway 'park' (as it is termed) has a good, small collection of locomotives. There are no carriages to inspect as at Koblenz. If you're a train lover it's worth a visit, just be aware it has very limited operating hours.

It's not a big museum but pretty enjoyable for all generations!!

A must visit place in Augsburg and hard to miss. You just have to pay a small entrance fee of 2.50 Euros to see the beautiful, magnificent paintings with gold plated decorations. They provide you with an information brochure and a mirror trolley that you need to watch the image as you keep on reading the history. I was amazed to see the richness of the place that they have tried to show through this golden hall. It is worth the time and negligible money.

Just saw Augsburg play against Freiburg. The stadium was easy to find your way around in and the crowd was very energetic. I really enjoyed the experience and can't wait to go there again. The Hercules Fountain in Augsburg (Herkulesbrunnen) is a grand Renaissance monument by Adriaen de Vries, cast in bronze between 1596-1600 and erected in 1602. Over all the place is very modern, very well kept, has a very nice atmosphere and very friendly stuff.
