The Cervantes Birthplace Museum is located in Alcala de Henares, a World Heritage City known for its historical center and Plaza de Cervantes. The museum is situated in the family home of Miguel de Cervantes, the author of 'Don Quixote.' Visitors can explore reconstructed period interiors and view first editions of his works.
So nice to see his house in such a preserved state, and to have a glimpse into his way of life, and life in that era in general. Most of all it’s located in the old part of Alcalá which is completely worth visiting due to its rich history and heritage. And entrance is free.

Free entry into a walk through the early life of a famous Spanish writer. A look back at a age past gone.

Definitely worth stopping in to learn about one of Spain’s greatest writers, Miguel de Cervantes. The staff was knowledgeable, and the house was thoughtfully arranged and well presented.

Free yes free. Self guided tour of the home of the author of Man of La Mancha. The street it’s located on is loaded with little shops and cafes. It not a heavy tourist area so the crowds were manageable It’s worth coming here for a visit

Amazing to visit a house so old that raised Cervantes! Very well preserved and organised! Free entrance! And there are statues of Don Quixote and Sancho in front of the house! Loved it!

Must see for Cervantes fans! His birthplace and family home. Nicely maintained. Furnished in the style of the 16th century. Entrance was free.

Although the museum is not that big, it’s nice to see the birth place of the most famous Spanish writer, Miguel de Cervantes. It’s also very interesting to see what the place used to look like from the exhibits. If you are in the area, it’s definitely worth visiting.

In center of Alcalá you can find the Cervantes Birthplace house and museum. The entrance is free and you can learn and see how was the lifestyle at that time. Very interesting and a mandatory visit in Alcalá.

The Regional Archaeological Museum of Madrid, located in an old convent, houses exhibits from prehistoric times to the late 17th century, including Roman mosaics and local findings. As one of three archaeological museums in the area, it provides a journey through different eras. The building itself is a masterpiece, featuring frescoes in its domes from the Renaissance period. The museum also offers didactic activities for both children and adults and features remarkable temporary exhibitions on its patio.
A great museum to visit, with much information on the archeological past of the area. Admission is free, and the exhibit is very well explained and is quite thorough. I originally thought the place was geared towards kids but it isn't so. There are many Roman mosaics on display and they had a special exhibit on dinosaurs when I visited. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend it if you want to learn about the region between the Paleo era and today.

Such a beautiful display of local anthropological finds! Wide range from tools and jewelry to giant mosaics and paleontological artifacts. The entry is free and the staff was very helpful. You’re given a map and it’s very difficult to get lost :) highly recommended!

One of three archaeological museums in the area. On itself a trip throughout the ages, from Prehistory till the late 17th Century. The Renaissance building that contains it, with its frescoes in the domes, is a work of art on its own right. It offers didactic activities for children and adults alike, and truly remarkable temporary exhibitions in its patio every now and then.

When visiting Alcalá de Henares, don't miss the historic Corral de Comedias de Alcalá de Henares. Dating back to 1601, it is one of the oldest theaters in Europe and offers a glimpse into how people experienced theater during the Spanish Golden Age. The well-preserved building and artifacts allow visitors to travel back in time and appreciate its historical significance.
A different play every Friday and Saturday each week in this magnificent historic theatre dating from the beginning of the 17th Century. Strongly recommend the theatrical guided tour at 18.30. When we went it was Sagrario who did a fantastic monologue about the history of the Corral and Spanish theatre in general.

A fascinating glimpse at how theatres have evolved over the centuries.
David I — Google review
This is an enchanting place full of history. The guide who showed us the place was terrific! She walked us through 400 years of theatrical history with grace and wit. The preservation of the old artifacts and the building design make it easy to travel in time. For the play in the evening we could only get 1st row sits. We found ourselves with extra room for our legs and having a great view of the whole scene. The small size of it all made the experience more immersive. I highly recommend to book this place in to attend one of the summer classics festival.
Marta — Google review
Extraordinary theatre with a past visible in all its historical phases: from the Corral to the Italian theatre. A meticulous restoration has returned a wonderful place of culture to the city.

One of the oldest preserved theatres in Europe. Built in 1601-02 and designed to mirror the Corral de la Cruz in Madrid, the architect was Francisco Sánchez. Awesome example of medevil thearter built in an interior patio with windows from houses lookng in, etc. Nice guided tour.

Nestled in the charming city of Alcala de Henares, the Laredo Palace stands as a stunning testament to Spain's architectural diversity. Constructed between 1881 and 1884 by architect Manuel Jose de Laredo, this extravagant palace showcases an eclectic mix of styles, prominently featuring neo-Mudejar elements that echo Moorish influences. With its ornate ceilings and regal portraits adorning the walls, visitors are transported back in time to experience the grandeur of a bygone era.
Magnificent building from the 10th century. We did not enter the exhibition inside of the building since the interior seemed very dark during day time. However the exterior already show detailed concerns of the architect during the creation. Worth a visit!

Extraordinary building , unfortunately it was closed , I was disappointed when finding such an amazing architecture state of art building not open to the visitors !!!
Dr.Arafat M — Google review
Located quite close to the Railway station, this architectural gem, is one of the main features of this town you may see upon your arrival. Laredo’s Palace is a wonderful Neo-Mudéjar building with a romantic nineteenth-century backyard, built in a time where its own architectural style was already out of fashion. You can’t miss this beautiful oddity if you’re visiting Alcalá.
José S — Google review
Beautiful building, very old version of the Bible inside. Only 1 euro to enter. Not a long attraction, maybe 30 minutes
Scott ( — Google review
Really enjoyed the experience here. Seen the Bible in 5 volumes written in 4 languages. All the history of the kings and queens were amazing.
Shamim G — Google review
Laredo's Mansion is a beautiful Neomudejar building from the late 19-th century, situated halfway between Álcala's city center and the train station. As of March 2021, there are no guided tours. But you can visit the interior for €1, which must be paid in cash at the entrance. They don't have change, nor do they accept credit/debit cards. The building's current state of affairs is pretty sad. Many rooms as well as the garden are closed, probably due to the pandemic. The highlights are the medieval "Kings room", which features several royal portraits, and two other rooms with quirky Arab decorations and tiles. There are no written explanations of the rooms. Given that there's currently not that much to see, your visit shouldn't take more than 20 minutes. For €1, I think it's still worth it.
M H — Google review
It has a nice outer architecture, worth seeing it. Inside of it is actually cool but once you enter, you are allowed to see 2 rooms upstairs and few saloons in the ground floor, so not much to visit inside. There is no ticket actually, once you enter you give 1€ for the place and that's all, takes at most 30 mins. And we couldn't enter the garden, it was closed.
Ceren Ç — Google review

Casa de Hippolytus is a well-preserved archaeological site located near the La Garena station, just one train stop away from Alcala de Henares. It is situated close to the larger Roman city of Complutum and features one of the only known children's schools from that period in Spain. Bohlale T — Google review
It is the largest and most important square in Alcalá de Henares. Even during the Renaissance, it was an important place for the city. In the center of the square, there is a statue dedicated to Cervantes in the late 19th century. At the southern end, there is a music hall built in the late 19th century. The trees alongside the square stand out.
Seokjin H — Google review
Beautiful and historic place, right in the middle of Alcalá de Henares. Many restaurants and bars nearby, definitely a nice place to visit.
Elias L — Google review
The plaza is lovely, and lively too. The roses however are not within reach if you're looking for a sensory experience to sniff a flower or two. But I believe it was necessary to keep the garden well-maintained. Beautiful park, regardless. We stayed at a nearby accommodation, about 100m away from the plaza. Good morning walk around the area searching for a breakfast place.
Diy — Google review
Always looks fantastic. Lovely atmosphere. God selection of bars and places to eat. Ice creams. Good area to sit and relax and for children to play. Evening visit is recommended as it is very hot during the day in summer.
Mark H — Google review
This is a UNESCO World Heritage Site university town. Not the grandest of world heritage sites but very historic. It was founded by Cardinal Jiménez de Cisneros in the early 16th century. Alcalá de Henares was the world's first planned university city. Not to be confused with being the oldest as this goes to Bologna in Italy. It has some pleasant historic buildings, a neat plaza and is well worth a visit as it’s a nice town. Just don’t expect an Oxford or Sorbonne.

(Translated by Google) Renaissance style construction built in the 16th century as the Palace of Juana de Mendoza, family of the Dukes of Infantado. For a time it served as a Dominican convent consecrated to Saint Catherine, and later in the 17th century it was used as a university college under the name Colegio Menor de las Santas Justa y Rufina. After the War of Independence the building was damaged, and was acquired by the Lizana family, giving it its current name. Later it became a tenement house, until it was acquired by the Alcalá City Council to be used as the headquarters of municipal organizations. Some walls and ceiling tiles, the first bay, a cave and its plateresque doorway were preserved from the original structure. The latter has two floors, the first with a lintel door between attached Ionic columns and the second, also between columns, with a central window supported by chained lions and crowned by a curved pediment, in the tympanum of which a squire without a coat of arms can be seen held by angels, with a shield on the lintel (Original) Construcción de estilo renacentista realizada en el siglo XVI como Palacio de Juana de Mendoza, familia de los Duques del Infantado.
