Nestled in the heart of King's Lynn, the King's Lynn Minster, originally known as St. Margaret's Church, is a stunning example of royal-Gothic architecture that dates back to its founding by Bishop Herbert de Losinga in 1101. This magnificent structure showcases elements from the 12th to 15th centuries and features a unique C17 Tide Clock along with some of England's largest medieval merchant memorial brasses.
Redesignated as King's Lynn Minister in 2011 it is a huge and striking structure and I'd recommend getting the guide book which is full of useful information. Do look for St Margaret in the south aisle stained glass window - holding a church with a dragon at her feet. The ornate reredos is most impressive, over 27 feet high.

King's Lynn is a lovely place to visit with so much history all within a few minutes walk of each other. The Minster is right next to a small car park, also with bike racks. It's a nice cycle ride from the CCC along route 1 about 8 miles, but the scenery is nice.
Jeff B — Google review
Wonderful big building on the Saturday market. Formerly known as St. Margaret’s, The Minster is one of the largest buildings in the town and dominates the area. The interior is just as imposing. All that you would expect, with lots of original features. The stained glass and the floor tiling are particularly outstanding. I came here for a Scout event we were made to feel very comfortable, the staff were so friendly and helpful
Stuart D — Google review
St Margaret's Church, now the Minster, is a beautiful building worthy of time and exploration both inside and outside. The stained glass windows are stunning, as is the intricate carving throughout. The gardens are beautifully presented, too. There's always something going on here from regular services, weddings, and christenings to music and literary events, social gatherings, and coffee and cake. There's a short-term car park on the Saturday Market Place and a couple of nearby long-term car parks to. The church is accessible. "The Minster is situated in the historic surroundings of the Saturday Market Place in the heart of King’s Lynn. Founded by the first Bishop of Norwich, Herbert de Losinga, in 1101, the Minster has offered a welcome to pilgrims and visitors for over 900 years. The Minster is open for private prayer and visitors every day from: 8:30am – 6pm Parish Eucharist takes place on Sundays at 10 am, followed by Choral Evensong at 5pm. Please see our Worship page for more details of our other Sunday and midweek services. Our Morning Prayer is streamed on Facebook at the following times: Monday – Saturday, 8:30am"

A lovely place to walk around. Stained glass windows are beautiful. Very helpful ladies who answered any questions we had. We lit a candle and signed the condolence book for the Queen There is parking outside bit you have to pay, this includes blue badge parking. Free entry to Minster.
Emma W — Google review
Fabulous church and lovely to see it being put to alternate use. The new structure within the church is sympathetically done.
Lindsay C — Google review
Visited this beautiful church in the late afternoon while exploring King's Lynn's historic quarter. It dates from the 12th century, when it was attached to a priory, but has only been a Minster since 2011. The interior of the church was very peaceful and calming, and there was a wonderful sense of so much history all around me. Was particularly impressed with the abundance of skilful wood carving down the centuries, on the medieval misericords, 18th century pulpit and elaborate Victorian gilded screen behind the altar. Some very interesting centuries-old memorials and beautiful stained glass. The Minster is free to enter and there's plenty of parking space around it. Well worth spending some quiet time here.

Customs House, located at Purfleet Quay in King's Lynn, is a well-preserved building with a rich history dating back to 1683. Initially serving as a merchants' exchange and customs house, it later became the home of customs and excise until 1989. The ground floor hosts an exhibition on the King's Lynn Civic Society, while upstairs provides details about the Custom House and its builder, Henry Bell.
Went to Kings Lynn to look at buildings related to the Hanseatic trading and shipping history dating from about 1400. Custom house is part of the route. This building is in very good condition both inside and out. Entry is free parking is available in the area.

Custom house is located at Purefleet just next to riverside. Beautiful architecture building. George Vancouver statue is around just in front of this building. Lovely place
Win T — Google review
This beautiful and well preserved little building on the cobbled Purfleet Quay was built in 1683 by Henry Bell (who in the same year also built the Duke's Head Hotel in Tuesday Market Square, where I've been staying!). It was not only a customs house but also initially a place for merchants to trade, and it remained the home of customs and excise until 1989. Would have loved to have taken a look inside, but it was closed. There's a statue of George Vancouver, the 18th century sea captain and explorer who charted the Pacific Coast of North America, in front of it. The quay stands on the site of the medieval docks and is worth a look. There's an interpretation board with lots of interesting facts about its history. The harbourfront generally seemed almost deserted, only a couple of moored vessels, but I enjoyed the quiet charm of its narrow streets and old merchant's houses. You can still take boat trips from the South Quay.

Great place for an evening stroll. Quite charm by the waterfront. Well preserved.

Looks good already, should look terrific after facelift on at the moment (August 2016)

This place is somewhat heavily marketed within Kings Lynn as a place to visit - lots of photos showing interesting aspects - my appetite was whetted. Imagine then my disappointment to find the place closed. My visit to Kings Lynn was on Bank Holiday Monday - most other places in Kings Lynn managed to muster enough staff to open - just not the Customs House. A shame.

Faded glory can be so charming. A once bustling and affluent place, now quiet. This part of Kings Lynn is easily overlooked, but 100% worth passing through for art/architecture/ history enthusiasts.

The museum is renowned for housing the famous Seahenge, a Bronze Age timber circle that serves as its stunning centerpiece. Visitors can delve into the craftsmanship of these ancient timbers and explore a wide array of exhibits, interactive displays, and audio guides suitable for all ages.
Great little museum housed in an old church. Here for the seahenge exhibition - fascinating stuff. Staff friendly and highly informative on the history of Kings Lynn. Recommend a visit, well worth the (modest) price

Neat little museum, currently exhibiting seahenge, a few bits on local history, and Star Wars toys. Takes about an hour to see everything, and it's currently free to enter. Very close to the bus station, and a small car park is nearby. Definitely worth a look if you're in the area.

King's Lynn Museum is a charming museum located in the heart of King's Lynn in Norfolk, England. UK The museum's collection tells the story of the town's history, from its earliest days to the present. The museum is divided into several galleries, each of which showcases different aspects of King's Lynn's past. One of the highlights of the museum is the interactive exhibit on the town's trade and industry, which includes a replica of a medieval merchant's house and displays of historic tools and machinery. The museum also has a collection of artworks, including paintings and sculptures by local artists. The artworks showcase the town's rich artistic heritage and give visitors a glimpse into the cultural life of King's Lynn. Another highlight of the museum is the recreated Victorian chemist's shop. Visitors can step back in time and see what it was like to buy medicines and remedies in the 19th century. The museum's staff members are friendly and knowledgeable and are always happy to answer any questions visitors may have. Overall, King's Lynn Museum is a fascinating attraction for anyone interested in history and culture. It's a great place to learn about the town's past and get a sense of what life was like in King's Lynn in the past. With its interactive exhibits, beautiful artworks, and informative displays, it's definitely worth a visit.

Visited here at half term on their Roman day and was pleasantly surprised! The seahenge display is amazing and they have some fun displays on local life for the last few hundred years. Their coin hordes and the displays explaining snettisham are ample for a small museum. It being free was really good and the Roman day, while limited in its scope, was informative.

Nestled along the picturesque waterfront, Marriott's Warehouse is a stunning 16th-century structure that has been beautifully restored to preserve its historical charm. Originally constructed around 1580 as a storage facility for corn, salt, and wine, this Grade II* listed building boasts some of the oldest timbers dating back to the early 1300s. Today, it serves as a delightful cafe and restaurant offering Modern European cuisine while celebrating the rich heritage of King's Lynn.
Excellent restaurant and excellent staff. Food very good with a great choice on the menu. Dog friendly as well. Prices reasonable, we were delighted we called in. They had some very detailed models on display upstairs which were quite fascinating to see, and various information boards about some of the locations in King's Lynn.

Absolutely stunning! Great food, great atmosphere and brilliant value for money. This is a favourite for my partner and I, perfect for date night, we can’t stay away! Staff are lovely- if you’re looking for good food you won’t be disappointed!👍🏼🤍

We had a lovely anniversary meal here and absolutely loved it. Everything was rich, fresh, and delicious, you can really taste the quality of the ingredients. Three courses for two with drinks came in under £100, which felt like great value. The staff were welcoming, quick, and really attentive, and it was nice to see the kitchen team looking calm and actually enjoying what they were doing. The service was impressively fast, three courses in about an hour! We’ll definitely be coming back. The lighting, décor, and views all added to the atmosphere, and the easy parking was a bonus. Highly recommend!

This place was BUSY, we hadn't prebooked and it was Saturday night but we asked if we could sit outside as our want too cold. The food was lovely, I was full having the fish crumble, so much fish in there, partner had the steak, which was massive, we didn't have any space for pudding. Staff were very friendly helpful and as I said very busy inside with a beautiful view outside, well be gorgeous in summer

Came here on August Summer Bank Holiday. We'd booked for lunch and it was a glorious sunny day and sat outside (which is where most of the people were sitting. It has a lovely inside and upstairs bit too. Menu had good choices, reasonable prices and good portions. Staff were excellent throughout the 2hrs 15 mins we were there (even .ore so when you take in the fact it was 27c heat and they were constantly back and forth. Lovely setting next to the ricer, although we didn't see any boats as the tide was out. There is no direct Car Park but 4 mins walk is a very large car park which was only £3.50 for 24 hours. An absolute gem and will definitely use again when we are that way (it approx 1 hour from us)

Lovely food, great service! Very friendly and helpful staff. We sat outside on Quayside. I would definitely recommend.

Visiting Lynn for the day, we came by here in the early evening. We managed to get a table in this lovely renovated warehouse. I orderd the steak burger with added bacon and cheese, Mrs F had the chicken skewers, and a side of onion rings to share. We did have a bit of a wait unfortunatley, but there was a few folk sitting outside, so fair does. When our food came it looked delicious my burger was a beast ! Mrs F's skewers were cooked perfectly as was my burger, proper cheese on it not the sliced plastic cheese that is very common. The chunky chips were the best I've ever had, triple cooked for sure, crispy outside and light and fluffy inside with a delicious flavour. My burger unfortunatley, beat me 😔 so very filling, not the run of the mill 1/4lbr at all more like 1/2lb 😄 Many thanks to the team here at Marriot Warehouse for most enjoyable, tasty and filling meals.
Kris F — Google review
The outside seating was great and the vibe was very chilled. Was really good they had a lot of options for gluten and dairy free, so was easy to pick something to suit both myself and my partner. The food was quite overpriced for what is was, wasn’t particularly fresh but wasn’t bad, just felt the price was quite high. The person who greeted us at the door also seemed like it was a massive inconvenience we had turned up for our reservation 😂. However the gentleman who was serving our table was lovely.

St Nicholas' Chapel, located in Kings Lynn, is the largest chapel of ease in the United Kingdom. It was built as an extension of St Margaret's Church and features 15th-century architecture with a Victorian spire. The chapel is renowned for its medieval Angel Roof and rare Consistory Court. Recently renovated with the help of a Heritage Lottery Fund grant, it now hosts various events and exhibitions.
Visited to do Family History research on May 9th to see where my great great grandparents were married in 1860. One of The Friends group, John, met me to open up, he was very helpful & I appreciated his assistance. It's a beautiful building with a fantastic wooden roof with carved angels & a wonderful stained glass window. A very enjoyable & interesting visit.

Andy L — Google review
This fine Chapel was built as a Chapel of Ease for St Margarets or Kings Lynn Minster , presumably at a time when more people went to Church than these magnificent buildings could hold . It was founded in 1146 by one Bishop Turbus and has undergone many alterations and renovations since including a new steeple in 1869 built by my personal hero Sir George Gilbert Scott after the earlier one collapsed . There is a ledger slab here in memory of one Robinson Cruso who died in 1773 how cool is that . If you get the feeling you are being watched in here you may well be right . The spectacularly carved wooden angels above have their eyes on you . So be good boys and girls . On the day I was here there was a very talented gentleman restoring the magnificent screen behind the alter and under the just as magnificent stained glass window . In another life one in which I am not such a clutz I shall get a job like this . I think they are great helping to preserve our history and keeping our environment interesting . If you find yourself in King's Lynn I would certainly recommend a visit .

A beautiful and relaxing place . My 4yr old thinks the spire is a rocket ship and although she was disappointed that we couldn't go up to the "rocket" even she liked the beauty of the place her brother (also4) absolutely loved the acoustic and we even heard someone playing the organ a lovely visit

Nestled within the picturesque landscape of The Walks in Kings Lynn, Red Mount Chapel is a stunning historical gem dating back to the late 1400s. Originally built as a wayside chapel for pilgrims journeying to the Shrine of Lady of Walsingham, this beautifully restored Grade listed building offers visitors a glimpse into its rich past.
A fascinating place to visit. We were lucky to find it open this Wednesday afternoon. It's been preserved quite well, the stairs are new - ish! And it's free to visit, which is always nice!

A motte and bailey castle may have stood inside the Town wall of Kings Lynn in a loop of the Gaywood River, there is no recorded evidence but this would have been a good location for one. The area was remodelled during the English Civil War creating positions for canons. A building was built on the mound in 1485 as a wayside chapel known as the Red Mount Chapel or Chapel of Our Lady of the Mount, it was a stopping point in the port of Lynn on the way to Little Walsingham which was the second most popular destination for pilgrims after Canterbury. It was started by Robert Currance from June 1483 and the upper chapel was possibly added in 1506 by Simon Clerk and John Wastel the masons who built the chapel in Kings Collage, Cambridge. It had a varied history but for a chapel it was only used as a religious site for about 50 years of it's life. It is normally open two days a week but you would need to check before visiting.
Stephen M — Google review
I am volunteering for the first time at the Red Mount. It's open May - September (closed for Autumn and Winter because of roosting bats). It is open between 1 and 4 pm initially on Wednesday and Saturday. Fascinating little place.
Jill J — Google review
A wonderful surprising place with great atmosphere. Take care on the steps however! This Chapel was an essential stopping point for pilgrims en- route to Walsingham in Norfolk prior to the dissolution of the monasteries during the reign of Hentry Vlll. After this time, it fell into disrepair and was used as a storage depot and ancient graffiti shows how it was visited and vandalised. Fortunately the value of this ancient gem was recognised and now, fully restored ,we can once again marvel at its 'Tardis' -like quality and benefit from its unique atmosphere.
Sue J — Google review
One of the most recognisable historic buildings in Lynn, The Red Mount Chapel is situated in The Walks, a public park. The chapel, built between 1483-85, was used by pilgrims travelling to the Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham which at the time, was the second most popular destination for pilgrims in England after Canterbury. The chapel is built to an octagonal plan and has three storeys, including the lower chapel (Ground Floor), the priest's room (First Floor), and an upper chapel (Second Floor) which was added in 1506. The upper chapel is decorated with an impressive fan-vaulted ceiling in ornate late Perpendicular Gothic style. Since it was closed for worship in the 1530’s the chapel has had several uses including water storage, gunpowder store (during the Civil War) and a stable. Thanks to volunteers the Chapel is open to the public for a couple of days a week during the summer months.

St George's Guildhall, the largest surviving medieval guildhall in the UK, is a treasure trove of history and culture. Dating back to 1428, this Grade I listed building has served various purposes over the centuries and boasts an impressive timbered ceiling made from Norfolk oak. As Britain's oldest working theatre, it has hosted performances since as early as 1445, including a notable appearance by Shakespeare in 1593 during London's plague closures.
11 September 2025: Closing this weekend for 2 years or more for extensive work. The famous floorboards are linked to William Shakespeare.

Tot L — Google review
A Grade 1 listed building, is use by 1428, St George’s is the oldest and largest complete medieval Guildhall in England. The earliest record of a theatrical production was in 1445, and recent academic research has supported local tradition that Shakespeare himself played here with the Earl of Pembroke’s Men in 1593 when London theatres were closed by the plague. Robert Armin, Shakespeare’s leading comic actor, was born in King’s Lynn in 1565. Going forward, the aim of The Shakespeare’s Guildhall Trust is to create a multi-disciplinary theatre and mixed arts venue to introduce visitors to the building.
Edward B — Google review
Around 600 years old, the modest facade of this Grade 1 listed building belies what is inside. The oldest and largest complete medieval Guildhall in England, its enormous beams are from Norfolk oak and the ceiling is worth seeing. Just beautiful. And it may claim being the only standing building where Shakespeare acted. Worth seeing or better to attend a performance.

After King Henry VIII's dissolution of the monasteries, most were destroyed, making Greyfriars Tower a rare and historically significant structure.

Nature & Parks
Nestled in the heart of King's Lynn, The Walks is a charming 18th-century urban park that offers a delightful escape from the hustle and bustle of town life. Originally designed as a serene promenade for locals to enjoy fresh air away from the grime of the city, this historic park has evolved into a beloved green space featuring paved trails, playgrounds, and even a bandstand.
Beautiful green space. Steeped in history, with plenty of benches and lovely scenery. Lots of wildlife opportunities with ducks and squirrels, and I’d imagine a kingfisher or two, although I didn’t spot any on this occasion. An asset to the town.

Beautifully planted, well maintained park. Dog friendly, good play area, cafe is a bit disappointing but does its best in the limited space.

Although The Walks are obviously beautiful I believe they're best appreciated among the context of Kings Lynn in a more general sense. The town, although steeped in wonderful history and architecture, has fallen the way of many suburban towns in England. Falling into an almost forgotten and slightly melancholic feel to the town centre. There's not any real reason for this aside from shopping habits changing from centralised town centres and communities generally being less connected and it's certainly not unique to KL, seems as if almost every town in England is suffering the same fate. With BIDs and councils left exasperated on how to rejuvenate as it seems no amount of money can ever relight the fire of localised community that things such as edge of town retail and the internet have all but snuffed out. There's an emptiness and a somewhat loneliness present while navigating the town centre as a visitor which is difficult to ignore but sadly not uncommon. I feel it's important to keep that in mind while reviewing The Walks, I visited whilst on a short stay in the town late on a rainy midweek afternoon. The place is beautiful. The entrance from the town centre side is an immaculately arboured walkway with central lamp posts perfectly framed. The pathway was a little boring considering the surroundings but it conjured up memories of when England cared about uniformed preened beauty. An almost Richard Curtis-esque idealistic vision of what English nature in an urban space should feel like. I'm surprised I haven't seen it used as a location in cinema and wouldn't be surprised to now notice it in some God awful British romcom featuring an unlikely romance between an upper class widower and a young working class or American woman striving for better in her life or some such nonsense. Just walking along this pathway evoked ideas of stories and a sense of the potential for love to exist between these lines of perfectly spaced trees. I entered the wider park through the gateway, I imagine much has been written on the structures so I won't bother, and was as good as blown away by the subtle but purposeful beauty of the park. The waterways with little bridges and ducks paddling along allowing tiny moments for individuals to cherish for their whole lives. On the ducks it brought a cracked smile to my usually miserable face to see the small ramps of wood made for them to more easily access the banks, kudos to whoever commissioned those. The place was empty due to the weather but I imagined so much life in this place happening. Dads showing their toddlers how to feed the ducks, lovers wandering hand in hand over the footbridges and huddling together on the benches, buskers on the bandstand drawing their first crowd of the season and children stopping to simply smell the flowers while their exasperated mothers try to hurry them along to school. The place was designed for life's unexciting but defining moments, I imagine there's been more than a few proposals upon those bridges. The highlight for me was the collection of willows, which I have attached photos of, well kempt and numerous but still reaching out imploring to be touched by passers by. Reminding them that, although in this instant it has been curated, nature isn't simply there to be spectated but to be interacted with. On a sunnier day I'd have happily sat there reading a book for an hour or two in a stolen lazy moment. In this sense The Walks are a utopia, allowing and promoting the subtle simple beauty of life in England, it's the last remaining positive parts of a nationalism now seen as dirty, shameful and wrong. I'd argue it possesses this rare quality with institutions such as Kew and Wakehurst yet without the associated price tag. I'd love to visit in Spring and bring along a sketchbook to take in all the new life, perhaps I'll do that even though the journey is fairly long. To put it succinctly The Walks are a vision of idyllic England, a lovely letter to this great country and those who live in it. An absolute pleasure to visit.

What a beautiful open space! We visited here with our dog for a walk before heading back home to the East Midlands. Most of the park grounds were very well maintained and the public toilets were clean. We did visit the park cafe for a mocha and a strawberry milkshake. Both of the drinks were okay but the strawberry milkshake was a cheap man’s Nesquik. The taste was not good and it certainly didn’t taste of strawberries. The cafe is a little expensive for basic food and drinks. Whilst seating just outside the cafe we unfortunately encountered two men and a woman who were using remote controlled cars at very high speeds and they were noisy. They had no regard for anyone else in the area and were just a general nuisance. Our dog was a little scared of the remote controlled cars and there were other people with dogs and small children in this area that really didn’t appreciate them either. The woman commented to my husband as we walked past that one of the men is visually impaired, we were amazed by that because he was controlling one of the remote controlled cars! All it takes is a little bit of thought and everybody can enjoy the open space.

My favourite park in King's Lynn, I've been visiting here for 50 years at some points daily as part of my walk to sixth form and work. A historic urban park located in the heart of King's Lynn, The Walks is the only surviving 18th-century town walk in Norfolk. A Grade II listed landscape. I love all of it, and it's just as beautiful at night as during the day. The formal gardens of St James Park adjacent to London Road are always stunning. A busy dog walkers, runners, and cyclists favourite. The wildlife has changed over the years with the ducks and geese diminishing to almost nothing, the Nuthatch and Treecreeper are there in very small numbers where once they were prolific and I took the daily sightings for granted. You'll see many small song birds, jays, song thrushes, various gulls, pigeons, and doves. There are plenty of grey squirrels to get up close to. They'll feed from your hand if you're patient. There's a good variety of trees, wild flowers, and fungi to look for. If you're lucky you might just catch sight of a deer. The Gaywood River flows through the park and, on occasion, will flood. Now The Walks hosts Park Run, a summer café/kiosk, toilets, Bandstand, MUGA, bmx track, skate park, children's playground, and parkour There are plenty of spots to picnic, good tarmac walkways, benches, the Historic Red Mount Chapel, Guannock Gate, and St John's Church. It hosts many of the towns large events throughout the year, too. A short walk from both the bus station and railway station, and close to pay and display car parks. At the rear of The Walks, you will find the football stadium, home to King's Lynn Linnets and the Blue and Gold club.

The Corn Exchange Theatre and Cinema, located on Tuesday Market Place, features a charming Grade II listed 1854 facade that contrasts with its modern interior. This versatile venue hosts a variety of events including theatre, comedy, musicals, concerts, and top box office films. The building's historical significance as a former trading town adds to its appeal. With an onsite coffee shop and accommodating facilities for wheelchair users, it offers a comfortable and enjoyable experience for visitors.
The building is on the market square & easy to find when walking from the train station. The building itself, is beautiful. I was really impressed at the cleanliness of the theatre, from the foyer area, toilets, and main theatre. We had seats at the end of Row I, the view of the stage was great, the seats were as comfortable as theatre seats can be, and the leg room was enough. I will definitely return to the theatre in the future to see more shows.

My first visit in 40+ years. Was last there in playing Badminton, 5 courts on floorboards... This time Cinema 2 to watch the new F1 film... Wow !! what a fantastic transformation, modern, bright, refreshments, big comfy seats with stacks of legroom, perfect temperature, as was 26c outside & finally myself having hearing impairment, the sound quality was exceptional. FIVE STARS ALL ROUND ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Dick R — Google review
A lovely theatre, nice and airy. We went to a concert and the sound was very good. The bar looked nice with a small seated area outside if the weather is nice. Staff were helpfull and friendly, the seats could do to be a bit more supportive to get 5 stars
Paul C — Google review
Booked to see the Mersey Beatles on a Friday while away for the weekend, enjoyed the show. The Corn Exchange is very grand on the outside and has been modernised on the inside, taking a bit of the charm. There is plenty of paid parking right outside. Had to walk through all the smokers at the entrance, which was a shame, don't know what the theatre could do about that. All the staff were friendly.
Peter D — Google review
Very welcoming foyer with a soft and hot drinks stall and a few steps away- an alcoholic beverages bar. Also you can get some snack like classic popcorns, chocolate, snack bars, etc. I had a flat white which, to my surprise, was very delicious for as little as £2.20. Staff were polite and friendly mannered. If you lucky enough you can get a table to sit and enjoy your drink or snack. Inside the theatre couple of things caught my eye- dirty (or very worn?) main red curtains and seats were not very clean, but they were comfortable to sit on for 3+hrs. Apart from that, my first experience at Corn Exchange was pretty good.
Ruta S — Google review
We like this venue but on the last occasion we sat upstairs. Watching classic rock tunes without any proper volume to match was disappointing. In fact during the first half of the show we had more sound coming from the audience behind us. Please check the volume level in the upper seating, as it really did adversely affect the experience and is unfair on the artists. I might add that many people around the section shared a similar view.

On 1st September 2024 went to see supreme queen tribute band, they was absolutely fantastic, my first time going to a concert and the guy singing performed just like Freddie Mercury with all the moves and his voice was just like Freddie's , strongly recommend if your a queen fan!

The interiors showcase the rich heritage spanning from the 13th to the 18th centuries, featuring remarkable elements such as two 13th-century tiled floors, a vaulted undercroft from the 14th century, and an impressive five-story Elizabethan tower.
Not only was this a most important and interesting house, but our host clearly loved the place and was glad to share it with us. The tea and the cakes were delicious!

This is an amazing museum which is run by volunteers. An enormous amount of work has obviously gone into the displays and the research done has been incredible. Our trip to King's Lynn was worth it just to visit here. The insight into how people used to live was enlightening to say the least. There is also a tea room with a lovely choice of food at very reasonable prices.

A valuable asset for Kings Lynn, telling the history of King's Lynn fishermen, boat building, and the area, most of which now demolished. Highlight are the two preserved fishermen's cottages, so small hard to credit a family of ten could all live in one. Additional asset is a small tea room

The venue is lovely, the staff where so helpful & friendly. This is where Cobbles tea room is housed. Tea room is upstairs. Very nice place. Not a huge menu, but enough to keep most people satisfied. Everyone was really helpful and keen to tell us things to do both at the museum and elsewhere in King's Lynn. Lots of hands on things for kids. My 3 year old really enjoyed the dolls house and my 5 year old played the boat shipping game. The old cells were too scary for my 5 year old tho. He legged it before we even saw them. The recordings of 'inmates' banging and requesting to come out were too much for him.

Visited on a public holiday around noon. This place is right opposite to Kings Lynn Minster entrance. The street is full of cafés and eateries. You can buy the ticket at Reception. Cost is shown in the picture below and the cost is as of 2023 May. Alison is a kind lady , she was very helpful in finding right materials to understand the museum better and she even helped me charge my phone ( otherwise I would be lost without battery ) . The museum has some puzzles to solve. You can leisurely spend a day solving these. They even have interactive activities for kids with colour pencils , craft items etc. with chocolates as gift Section 1 is more about Kings Lynn history and artefacts . Section 2 is treasury . Section 3 has videos of important people in kings Lynn history speaking their stories ( enacted ) Section 5 is about army and rules they had vetoed Section 6 is scary. They have shown different gross punishments of those days and the instruments used . Also shadow play , you can walk into Real rooms where people were locked up. Last section is a prison room with a 5.6 minutes video of Eugene who was convicted of murder. Lastly you have clean toilets in case you want to Use. They even have fish shaped feedback tag which can be hooked to the wall. Overall a good experience.

The museum has two parts. The first one, is dedicated to town's history and has a number of displays with artifacts from the past. Everything is well organised and wach room has a specific thene. Also there are a couple of corners are dedicated to kids and have interactive activities. The second part is the old gaol and have displays and artifacts from the old prison. It is a bit sad watching the punishment methods of the past but since it is part of the history, we should learn about it.

Really interesting little museum with some excellent exhibits (the portraits that talk to each other are brilliant and reminded us of Harry Potter!), and if you are lucky enough to visit on the days where the upstairs rooms are open you can find actual paintings of the people which looked uncannily like the actors! There's some fun photo opportunities whilst learning about how hard life could be if you found yourself on the wrong side of the law - dressing up, stocks, jail cells etc. Excellent! It's just opposite the rather splendid minster which is well worth a visit too.

Main car park in the centre of King's Lynn. You can only pay with cash or using the ParkingOps app. No contactless or need to type in your car registration number. Although car park name refers to a Tuesday market - said market has not been held for last 10 years. There is also a 20 minute area where you can park for free. If parking overnight or for a few days - it's cheaper to use the car park near to the Wetherspoons and close to the waterfront.

Great multi-purpose market place. Mainly used as a giant car park but also houses the fair when it is in town. Good parking for the theatre and Wetherspoons etc which are opposite.

Over 100 of these classic cars, voted the second most influential car of the 20th Century were parked up on the Tuesday Market Place for the annual Mini Meet event. There were quite literally every shape and size, including the Crayford Heinz 57 Wolseley Hornet, one of 57 given away as a competition prize by Heinz Foods in the mid 1960s. Also, on the Tuesday Market Place, as part of this free event, live music was performed by The Hornets and The Groove Hounds.

We had a fantastic private tour with Ivor around medieval Kings Lynn . He went out of his way to answer all our questions and was very knowledgeable . The pace was perfect and very good value for money. The guides are volunteers and the proceeds go towards supporting local projects Highly recommend as we would have missed so much if doing on our own . He gave us tips on other places to visit not covered which we did later that day

The staff at King's Lynn Library are exceptional and extremely supportive. They create a welcoming atmosphere and are particularly great with children. The library itself is housed in a captivating and remarkable structure, piquing curiosity about the town's history. The employees go above and beyond to assist visitors, providing valuable information on both the building and the ancient waterways nearby. Additionally, their dedication is evident as they readily order books that may not be available locally, ensuring prompt availability for collection after two weeks.
I didn't get inside, but from outside it is a really, architecturally, interesting building. It is well maintained, even though it is more than 100 years old. It worth spending some time observing the details and admire the views from different angles and positions. Watch out for the signs with the names of well known writers, like Burns, Dante etc in the top of the walls.

The cinema offers 3 digital and 3D screens, providing an excellent traditional movie experience. Visitors can enjoy disabled access to most screens, new seating including recliners and loungers, as well as polite staff and good service.
Really nice, clean, refurbished cinema. Our first visit and we were in the smaller screen 4 but we really enjoyed it and will be back. Staff were friendly, seats were new and comfy and the old building has character. Great ticket prices too. Parking was close by and easy.

A wonderful old independent cinema, that has been lovingly restored and updated with luxurious seating. Prices of the tickets and snacks are very reasonable and staff are very efficient and friendly. I wouldn't pay a fortune to go to the other corporate cinemas when I have a gem of a cinema in Kings Lynn.

Me and my partner went to the cinema today to watch Lilo& Stitch with the parent and baby. It started at 10:30 and that was amazing really nice, warm and cosy and I think that they should be doing this three times a week with different movies each week. So families that are single parents or hang on to babysit or just want to spend time together can actually go to the movies and watch it with their baby I do think they should do it especially during the half terms cuz they'll get a lot more people and if they advertise it really well it would be a good hit

The King's Lynn Post Office, located on Baxter's Plain, closed to the public in 2007. Customers now have to visit a refurbished section of Lynn's WHSmith branch on Norfolk Street for postal services. Due to cost-cutting measures, there are often long queues at the post office, but the staff is described as friendly and helpful despite being understaffed at times. Some customers have had positive experiences with quick service and helpful staff when renewing licenses or processing passport applications.
The staff are great. Wanted to do a check and send for my passport, as my photo was incorrect to do online. So asked the gentleman if he could see why. He explained about the digital send which we did. Queue was long but as he was left alone because of lunch which is understandable. He was great and so helpful
Natalie S — Google review
People always friendly but what was the money exchange (lots of international people) asking queries is now two counters serving everyone with the main counters closed. This has tripled the waiting times. Is this permanent ? The team are always friendly and helpful but this making the service look very slow and cumbersome for just 12 People waiting 20-30 minutes not good Royal Mail/Post Office. The banking customers should have a seperate desk is they are prioritised. More cashiers please
Gareth C — Google review
Absolute joke!!!! shame I can put zero stars!! The manager needs to grow a pair and demand more hours or more staff.. Went in there 2day, 2 people being counter only 1 serving and a very fast growing queue. No sense of urgency or customer service at all..!! This is a very regular occurrence... WH Smith need to sort this out as they are WH Smith Staff..
ONCE N — Google review
After reading all the reviews that mentioned long queues my wife and I went today to renew my passport. I joined the queue @ 10.50 was served at 10.54 and @ 11.03 my digital application including my photograph was all completed. There were two counters open perhaps that made a difference. Only 4 stars as the area was a bit untidy but if you are stuck behind a counter you can't control what the customers do.
Robert N — Google review
Expect to wait a long time queuing even if the queue isn't that long, staff are friendly and obviously like a chat with the customers but just frustrating waiting when it could be much faster
Scott C — Google review
Couldn’t have been easier. Arrived at 9 40, no queue, two ladies behind the counter, got served straight away for a driving licence renewal with a picture taken, as we were served a couple of customers came in and the second lady came to the counter and served them. Having read other reviews, my expectations were a little low but I was really impressed with the service provided.
J R — Google review
Due to post office cost cutting with staffing levels you will have to queue no matter the time of day. The fault is not with the staff who are constantly working I have witnessed them missing their breaks on more than one occasion due to customer levels. I've always experienced great, friendly and helpful service. If anyone wants to moan about the post office I'd suggest contacting the Head office directly a Google review won't achieve anything at all.
Ray C — Google review
In full agreement with the other reviewers, Post Office staff are lovely but there just isn't ever enough of them to meet busy high street demand. Only two active serving kiosks of which, often times, only one is open at a time. As a result, waiting times can approach an hour just to be served, and are often over 20 minutes.

Saturday Market Place Car Park is located in a historic area that once accommodated a charnel chapel and cemetery in the 14th century. The weekly market and annual summer fair were major attractions for traders seeking wool and cloth. Today, the market offers local products, vegan food, music, and artisanal goods on Saturday mornings. The area is dog-friendly with nearby restaurants and coffee places that welcome pets. While most stalls accept cash only, some take cards.
Saturday morning, the market is on with local products, vegan food, music, artisan food. I highly recommend spending some time there. It is dog friendly and there are restaurants and coffee places that are dog friendly around. Most stalls don't take cards but some do. There are lots to try but most of the food tends to be high in sugar or carbohydrates. The Saturday market is due to become bigger with more stalls and more musicians so whatch this space.

Visitors can explore a recreated herb garden showcasing plants used by monks for medicines and food.
Beautiful priory ruins in peaceful countryside. Really friendly, helpful staff at the ticket office and gift shop. Impressive Priors Lodgings with a medieval painted ceiling and beamed roof as well as beautiful entrance porch. Highly recommend.

Really liked the ruins of this priory. There is still enough left for you to get an idea of just how vast the set of buildings were. There's parking, picnic tables and a free audio guide to help you make the most of your visit.
Becky D — Google review
Henry VIII really went to town on the destruction of this place, thankfully a farmer took up residents in the monks lodgings so some has been preserved. The ruins are beautiful and gloomy, the architecture is fantastic and it would have been a sight to behold from miles around. The Cluniac order certainly knew grandeur. It's very peaceful and easy to wander around for hours just admiring the surroundings. A very nice cleanse for the mind. The gentleman working there was very polite and helpful, providing useful information and directions to the nearby castle. Plenty of parking.
Nicholas C — Google review
The staff on the entrance were really friendly and keen to give a good overview of the site. It's an easy walk from here to the castle ruins and the picturesque village. Although ruins, the priory is probably one of the larger/more complete ones that I've visited. A lot of information around the site. Some of the plaques could do with replacing because of sun damage. Interesting place to visit and completely dog friendly, with dogs even being allowed inside. You can see in places what the walls and beams would have looked like when they were fully painted, it must have been beautiful. This is what you join English Heritage for.
Laura T — Google review
Extensive ruins with the attatched priors house still intact with lovely windows. We took the audioguide which does bring it to life and explain what you are seeing very well. Beautiful setting. We had no idea of the scale of the place before visiting. Nice areas to sit and picnic. Well worth it. EH staff helpful as ever.
Caroline S — Google review
We arrived in the morning, it wasnt too busy. We purchased tickets in advance, but to be honest I'm not sure we even needed to, I guess not, if your conscience allows! My partner was particularly interested as this is where they filmed some scenes from Sandman, we can see why they picked the location as it's really beautiful. We spent about an hour walking around it, but that was mostly because it was cold (in July 🥹). The village of Castle Acre looks lovely, there was a pub/cafe as we drove towards the Priory. We sadly didn't walk from the Priory to the Castle remains, mostly due to the weather.
Claire W — Google review
Absolutely loved it! Visited on Sunday and there was hardly anybody there! Slightly rainy but nothing major. My husband and I love history and have visited quite a lot of historic sites but this is definitely one of our favourites now… simply amazing. We parked at the priory and spent quite a while exploring the spectacular buildings and remains, then we took a walk into the village to see the castle (well worth doing). I can’t get over the incredible amount of detail to the buildings and the fact you can still see Tudor roses in the beams in the prior’s lodgings. Highly recommended!

South Gate is a remarkable historical structure that dates back to the 15th century, likely built on the original foundations from the time of Edward III. This impressive gateway features a brick construction adorned with stone surrounds and elegant ashlar slabs on its facade. In the 19th century, pedestrian passageways were added to either side of its main entrance, enhancing accessibility. Visitors will find South Gate brimming with history and fascinating insights into both its evolution as a landmark and the town's development over time.
Kings Lynn was once surrounded by a Town wall of which a few fragments still remain today but the best preserved part is the South Gate. Probably built in the 15th century on the foundations of a gate from Edward III's time. It is built of brick with stone surrounds. It is normally open two days a week, you will need to check when.

In the 19th Century, on either side of the main entry, the pedestrain passageways were driven through

It's going to be pedestrianised so somewhere for the crackhead and alcies to hang about, at the moment they gather, as best they can round the small number of fetid newsagents in the area. The small park near the Sputhgate is rank, the pond being full of beers cans, piiiiiii55 and pinfold filth. The area has potential but Lynn hadn't cottoned on to it, basically the main road yells 'I'm Georgian grandeur but look what you've done to me!' Nice enough during the day.
