Nestled in the charming ambiance of Place André Neher, this delightful market offers a cozy experience that stands out from larger venues like Place du Marche. With around ten adorably decorated stalls adorned with garlands, it exudes a quaint charm. During my visit in 2024, I stumbled upon a stall that was serving mouthwatering fried apples known as Beignets de Pomme (or Apfelkiechle in German), making it an unforgettable stop for food lovers exploring this picturesque square.

La Halle aux Blés is a charming and authentic restaurant located in the heart of the city, offering a pleasant dining experience. Situated near the market square, it provides a nice view of the surroundings, including the famous Christmas market during Advent. Despite some waiting time due to its popularity, the service is good and the atmosphere is delightful. It's an ideal spot to enjoy a meal while exploring this vibrant town.
We had a wonderful meal at La Halle aux Blés. They were quite busy yet we had little wait time and our server was very attentive. The meals are generous and well prepared, we thoroughly enjoyed trying the specialties of the region. The main highlight was how kind the waiter was with our 3 year old. He had a great experience. Thank you!

Food varied, fresh and delicious. Atmosphere, calm, relaxed and romantic. Staff, kind, attentive and extremely helpful. They went far beyond what I've experienced in many other restaurants. I'm a wheelchair user, travelling with my husband and my assistance dog. They offered to help get me inside, but it was such a warm night, we opted for outdoors. They provided a bowl of water for my dog and immediately refilled it when she drank it all. They speak great English - certainly far better than my French! If you're looking for something special with tasty, but affordable food, great staff and a wonderful atmosphere, look no further!
Anne H — Google review
Nice atmosphere, friendly service. So many delightful things on the menu, it was hard to choose!
Jessica T — Google review
Extremely disappointing experience. We ordered 6 different dishes, and every single one tasted exactly the same with a strange sour flavor. The “Cordon Bleu” was not a Cordon Bleu at all, but just a plain chicken steak with mushroom sauce. The onion soup was terrible – especially shocking given that this is supposed to be a traditional French dish. The plate advertised as “5 meats with sauerkraut and potatoes” for €21 turned out to be just a heap of industrial sauerkraut straight from a bucket, served with five cheap sausages, and potatoes that tasted like they came from a can. The so-called “potato cakes” were bland hash browns served with cold smoked salmon, without any accompaniment. On top of that, the menu was poorly translated, and what was written there often didn’t match what we actually received. Service started out friendly but quickly went downhill – the staff stopped coming to the table, so we were left without drinks. Overall, an absolutely awful experience. By far the worst Alsace dining experience we’ve ever had. Definitely never again.
Monika P — Google review
Amazing food, had the ravioli with Munster cheese sauce, which was like liquid heaven. The escargots were also the best we've ever had. Atmosphere is a bit touristy, but the food and service far outweigh it. Definite recommendation.

The synagogue in Obernai, constructed in the 19th century, bears resemblance to a Christian church and is a significant testament to the peaceful coexistence of the Jewish community within the village. Tragically, this community, which had existed since the 13th century, suffered persecution and decimation at the hands of Nazi forces during World War II. This synagogue stands as a poignant reminder of a lost Jewish heritage and merits a visit to honor and acknowledge this vanished community's rich history.
