Mukuvisi Woodlands is a sprawling conservation area just a few kilometers from the city, offering forested green spaces teeming with native wildlife and flora. It's one of the rare places in Harare where visitors can see animals like kudu, giraffe, and zebra on foot. The reserve is well-maintained and affordable, making it an ideal location for a family outing.
We had a very relaxing time viewing the animals from the viewpoint. Afterwards we took a walk through the actual park which was shaded a lot of the way. The facility is not modern but it does the job. There are many various walks with different lengths (3,5,6 and 10km). This is a gem for anyone wanting a small taste of the bush close to harare. We paid 6 dollars per person.
Nicholas H — Google review
It was very cheap to enter, but there isn’t a lot here. Lots of empty enclosures. The large animals roam free which means they are very far away and can only be seen from afar on a viewing platform. It feels like there may have been a time where it was a thriving animal park, which is real shame.
Michelle K — Google review
Did an early morning walk in the woodlands and it was so refreshing. The trail was well labelled, the guide also gave us a brief tour of the place. I would recommend the place for walking pets too
Pat R — Google review
This game lodge has animals and hiking trails. You can do from 3 to 10 kilometres. There are directions throughout and you wont get lost. The fee is 5$ per person and you wont regret. It’s a good place to spend a day with your family.
SIZEKA M — Google review
Quite some animals to see. Zebras, Giraffes, large bucks, elands. There are no lions or elephants there. Very good spaces for picnics or relaxations.
Joseph C — Google review
The park seem to be good but it really needs a significant renovations some of Features no longer available And I think bringing in different animals that will diversify the ecosystem Lastly thank you for the service providers there 🙏
Genius D — Google review
Horse riding was a wonderful experience. Unfortunately most of the animals were hiding but it was still enjoyable. Staff keep you safe, are friendly, walk alongside the horses and give brief information about the areas and animals. The rest of the site has a dew other animals, some bird life (though very bare), lovely walking spaces and 2 crocodiles.

Great and refreshing place right in the city. Pleasant walk through the woodlands. You may even come across wild animals - zebra, duicker, giraffe and wild birds. Art shop and a coffee shop. Child friendly.

The National Gallery of Zimbabwe is a must-visit destination for those seeking to delve into the rich history and artistic heritage of the country. The gallery features an impressive collection of Shona soft-stone carvings, as well as exhibits gathered from around the world, making it a paradise for history enthusiasts. Visitors can explore diaries, notebooks, and archives belonging to famous African explorers. Additionally, the gallery houses a diverse array of local fossils and natural history artifacts.
Nice place with cool art 🖼️, some of the pieces are changed from time to time 👌🏽
Michelle T — Google review
We really enjoyed our visit to the National Gallery and will return for the next exhibition. It's a nice space and kid friendly. We went on the weekend and we saw some children taken part in art class upstairs. Unlike many museums, it actually feels like people/artists come here to socialize -- it has a feeling of community. I was expecting lots of sculpture (and there is a sculpture garden) and was really pleasantly surprised with the paintings and installations. Plenty of parking outside and small gift shop and cafe inside. Well worth a visit.
Brian J — Google review
Nice little gallery, there were many special exhibitions going on! Really liked it. You enter and buy ticket from the souvenir shop, which costs US$15. Avoid the toilets if you can - not clean and no running water.
张世吉 — Google review
Excellent National Gallery exhibiting the paintings and artworks of celebrated Zimbabwean Artists, there four separate halls in the first floor aesthetically arranged with meaningful signages, don't miss the sculpture exhibits outside the Gallery, there is admission fee to enter the Gallery, the staff, particularly, the lady at the reception is very kind and helpful and she guided us to what to see on priority. Photography is allowed inside the Gallery.
Madan M — Google review
Funny how the National Art Gallery has been a part of my route for over a decade and despite eating at the different little cafes that have been a part of it over the years and even attending a few events set at the gallery, I had never taken the time to actually tour the exhibitions, and oh-my, have I missed out on so much over the years! My visit to the National Art Gallery was so inspiring! I fell in love with forms of art I never knew would speak so much to me! It is definitely a must try and must see! I will be chasing new exhibitions every-time they get to change! The place deserves my apology for sleeping on it for so long💚 The art is beautifully curated and super unique! The artists on exhibit all just created pieces that went beyond human imagination! I am obsessed.
Hillary R — Google review
The exhibitions change from time to time. It's a peaceful place that really showcases local artists. However, it's rather empty in some sections. The lighting on the first floor is perfect. It's only $2 per person, making it an affordable date activity.
Simphiwe G — Google review
This was an interesting place to visit to pass time before leaving country. The building itself is beautiful, speaks of a different time. While I can appreciate the effort put in by individual artists and advocates of the arts, the curation of a lot of the works were disappointing. A lot of it seemed either outdated or poorly executed/presented. There were a few pieces in there that I liked. Hope in the near future more funding can go toward properly investing into the space and the country’s artists.
Yagazie E — Google review

The Zimbabwe Museum of Human Sciences, previously known as the Queen Victoria Museum, stands as a vibrant cultural hub in Harare. This fascinating destination offers an impressive array of exhibits that delve into the rich heritage of Zimbabwe and Africa at large. Visitors can explore a diverse collection of artifacts that span from ancient wooden relics like the Ngoma Lungundu—over 700 years old—to stone sculptures and traditional kitchen utensils.
It is very good museum which shows the evolutiona of Zimbabwean and their biodiversity

Very nice museum. I was shocked at the exhibits. Very well done. If you bring a camera the light is not bright there and using a flash would probably ruin your photos because of the glass. There is a small fee to take photos but it's worth it. I actually learned a lot about my wife's culture going there.
Frank O — Google review
Went there on a monday. There was noone else there. It was my first time visiting the place after about 14years since the last time i had been there. I do not recommend this place at all.😂 they are definitely not keeping it up properly. The same art exhibitions that were there 14 years ago are still up. Not that they are supposed to be discarded but there should be a little bit of a morden touch to the exhibition style. The building itself is not in good shape but oh well it serves its purpose.
Tanaka M — Google review
Great art, history, master pieces to see.
Castony S — Google review
It's beautiful and offers a lot for an African museum. I also loved the tech fusion on the human evolution bit. In all honesty, the items inside could use a lot of cleaning. Mostly, the ones in the open with the fake animals and rocks.

It is a stop to do while in Harare. Lovely experience to better understand Zimbabwean environment and above. The space itself needs maintenance just to keep the space clean and updated.

Very interesting museum, covering a huge time span regarding Zimbabwe. Quite nicely organised in a straightforward way to see all exhibits without too much back and forth. If you need to take pictures inside, you need to pay another $5 per camera. $3 for locals, $10 for internationals.

Harare Gardens, located in the heart of Zimbabwe's capital city, is a well-maintained 58-acre public park that offers a peaceful retreat from the urban hustle and bustle. It's a popular destination for locals and visitors seeking relaxation, picnics, and recreational activities. The park also houses the National Gallery of Zimbabwe, showcasing an extensive collection of African contemporary art and traditional artifacts.
Good place for all storts of moods tired happy, engaging wow relaxing,,you will get food from vendors passing not even far from shopping centers that is a nice place even to meet someone easy to direct.
Brian B — Google review
Fairly well kept beyond my expectations. Good cool environment with a lot of flowers and greenery around. Only the wooden benches are breaking down and concrete benches are abused by street kids who urinate near them.
Joseph C — Google review
A calming place to relax in when its not too busy, however it can be filthy at times. Scenery can be both beautiful and unappealing
Ishod H — Google review
It could be the toilets are not working any more, for so much human waste lying around. No longer the nice place it used to be. Defunct kids' playground equipment and, also, the cage where we used to enjoy watching birds.
Fortune B — Google review
It's a good quiet place but still needs proper maintenance
Leslie M — Google review
A quiet park in town. It's normal to see people sleeping under the trees just taking a break. The trees are quite big. There's always some vendor passing, especially with freeze its, maheu or Zim ice cream. The park is actually a very nice place that only needs care and I would give it 5 stars.
Mabu'atsela N — Google review
Good n beautiful sceneries but not well maintenaned.
Norman F — Google review
Entry here is free. Some sections look run down but the trees, flowers and grass are really exciting to see. There is enough shade and an equally large number of people whiling away their time but nothing noisy or disturbing. You can sink in your own world and just enjoy your time greatly. In addition there is theater in the park which you can enjoy as an arts lover. Make sure to visit the small waterfall which is in one corner of the park. The park is also great for photography.

5National Heroes' Acre

Historical landmark
National Heroes' Acre is a commemorative site and museum dedicated to the brave individuals who fought for Zimbabwe's independence. The grand obelisk, designed with the help of North Korea, stands as a solemn memorial to those who perished during the Second Chimurenga. This ceremonial burial ground honors 25,000 Zimbabweans who died in the civil war leading to the country's independence in 1980.
National Heroes' Acre, located approximately 7 kilometers west of Harare along the Harare-Bulawayo Road, stands as a monumental tribute to Zimbabwe's liberation struggle. Established in 1980, this 57-acre site commemorates those who sacrificed their lives for the nation's independence. Visiting on a Sunday proved to be an excellent choice, as the site was tranquil with few visitors, allowing ample time to absorb the profound historical significance and admire the impressive architecture. The design, influenced by North Korean architecture, features a grand obelisk and the striking Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, which includes a bronze statue of three guerrillas—one female and two male—symbolizing the collective effort in the liberation war. The entrance to the monument is free; however, access to the on-site museum, which houses artifacts and exhibits related to the liberation struggle, requires a fee. For international visitors, the museum admission is $10 per person, payable in cash. The site is easily accessible via the A5 Harare–Bulawayo Road, with clear signage directing visitors to the location. Despite its historical importance and architectural grandeur, it was surprising to see so few visitors, especially given the site's role in honoring national heroes and its educational value. The serene environment, coupled with panoramic views of Harare from the hilltop, makes it an ideal destination for reflection and learning. In summary, National Heroes' Acre offers a unique and informative experience, shedding light on Zimbabwe's path to independence. Its accessibility, coupled with the depth of history it presents, makes it a highly recommended visit for both locals and tourists seeking to understand the nation's heritage.
Sampa S — Google review
Admission & Access: Entry costs $10 USD for international visitors and $7 USD for African foreign nationals. Payment is made in cash at the visitor’s center, which also serves as a small museum. Important to note: the road from the entrance and visitor’s center to the monument is over 1 km long. If you want to avoid the walk, arrange for your taxi or transport to drive you all the way up to the monument. The Walk & Setting: If you do choose to walk, the path is pleasant and well-paved, with opportunities to see monkeys along the way. From the hilltop monument, the views of Harare are stunning, making the journey worthwhile. The Monument & Grounds: The monument itself is expansive, clean, and striking. Highlights include: • Clearly marked graves surrounding the central complex. • A giant mural of former president Robert Mugabe. • Prominent Zimbabwean symbols like the national flag and coat of arms. • Walls listing the names of soldiers, martyrs, and others honored. The site also has a giant obelisk pillar at the back, accessible by steps, which provides panoramic views over Harare. Atmosphere: The site is popular with student groups, though when I visited on a Monday evening it was not overly crowded. As of September 2025, there was some construction taking place, but it was limited to the back area and did not interfere with the main experience or views. Overall: National Heroes’ Acre is a powerful blend of history, culture, and scenic beauty. Whether you’re drawn to Zimbabwe’s heritage, enjoy architecture and symbolism, or simply want sweeping views of Harare, this site is a must-visit.
Vouchline — Google review
What a clean, beautiful and huge monument to commemorate those who fought and died for the country. The tombstones are so beautiful and the flowers fresh.
Carol T — Google review
This is an amazing Monument and most people have never seen it. Taxi to the gate is $6 then $10 entry, the taxi has to drive another 1.7km to the Monument itself, don't let the taxi go, you will need it to return.
Chris D — Google review
A place of pride and remembrance! National Heroes Acre is a beautifully designed and peaceful site that honors Zimbabwe’s rich history and heroic legacy. The architecture is impressive, the atmosphere serene, and the symbolism deeply moving. A must-visit for anyone who values heritage, reflection, and national unity.
Conistance G — Google review
A great place to visit in Zimbabwe. You will learn lots about the country's history and fight for independence. There is a useful museum with lots of artifacts nearby and the museum guide will explain you everything about the country's history. The National Heroes' Acre should be visited with great respect.
Faryaz H — Google review
Beautiful peaceful place. I believe the North Koreans paid for its construction. We had to get permission/ permits to visit and drove there, plenty of parking. Usual brilliant sunny Zimbabwean weather, so take a drink. It was completely empty apart from our group of three 🙂 Worth visiting just to see the bronze statues.
JesusIsMySaviour3 — Google review
A great place to visit any day of the week, weekend and holiday but do avoid crowds so as to enjoy to the fullest. Close to the main entrance is a mini museum with a number of artifacts to see. The main heroes acre is about 1,5km away and its advisable to drive as the walk though scenic my leave your breathless..literally. the Graves are styled in a way that resembles the magazine of an Ak47. The historical site is suitable for both adults and kids and you do need to carry your id's and entrance fee.

If you're a sports lover, the Harare Sports Club is an essential stop on your travel itinerary. This iconic venue buzzes with energy during cricket matches, where you can immerse yourself in the excitement of live games alongside passionate fans. The atmosphere is electric, especially during significant events like Zimbabwe's thrilling match against the West Indies or their face-off with Ireland.
Great local pub, with a charming tattiness to it. Great watch parties for international rugby games too (mostly to watch the Zim Sables)

A bit unique. Seperate rooms with good space and ventilation unlike most hallway gyms. Even when it's packed you get some sense of "non overcrowdedness". Wide range of equipment, I recommend the calf machine.
Makh0sethu — Google review
The place has improved, renovated, good decor, it's still a sports bar, so nothing to write home about, the service is still 1980s, and slow. But I'll always go back for a day in the sun next to the cricket pitch, cold beers and reasonable snacks. They won't, but they need a younger crew who can be trained.

Saturday the 24th of June 2023 was the it day in Zimbabwe. Harare sports club was the place to be as Zimbabwe hosted the west Indies in a battle that was to decide who would be in the super 6 (Cricket). I have visited the place before, the first time with friends, we spent a bit of time by the bar on the opposite end but this time cricket had called out to me and I enthusiastically answered. In Zim around June, the weather can be a bit cheeky and Saturday's weather was no exception. My cousin and I perched ourself by the castle corner as the back benchers association and the cold remained by our side throughout the whole match. We loved the highs and lows of the game and the grounds turned out to be small as everyone wanted a bit of the action. The HSC was a good host and I can't wait to attend more matches there

Beautifully maintained cricket pitch. I saw a barn burner of a matchup, Zimbabwe vs Ireland. The rich folks / white folks usually sit in the Centurion Bar area which is $20 for entry on international match days. Around the other side, gate 3, entry is $2 for the cheap seats. My photos are from the cheap seats. The cheap seats however have some delicious food for sale by the men's toilets

Karigamombe Centre in Central Harare is a modern office skyscraper at the Corner of Samora Machel Avenue and Julius Nyerere Way. Erected at that corner recently, and right in front of Karigamombe Centre, is a 4-way metal footbridge on which stands a bronze statue of Mbuya Nehanda a late 18th century freedom fighter and prophetess of the black people who as she was being hanged for opposing colonialisism famously said, "My bones will resurrect". Within 70 years the liberation war of Zimbabwe started and on 18 April 1980 Zimbabwe became independent. President ED Mnangagwa unveiled this statue on 25 May 2021.

Cathedral of the Sacred Heart is a Roman Catholic cathedral located in Harare, Zimbabwe. It replaced the first Catholic Church built in 1900 and was constructed with the aid of African builders, which was unusual for that time. The overall design and construction were overseen by Father Le Boenf, who also contributed to other nearby structures. The cathedral offers masses throughout the day in various languages and provides peaceful corners for moments of silence amidst the bustling city life.
I'm so tempted to save this place as my Home. This is the Catholic Cathedral for the Harare Diocese. There's a Mass for every time of day, and with linguistic diversity as well. And there's corners and nooks where you can actually get a few minutes of silence apart from the busy lifestyle of Harare. Damn it! It is my home. And guess what... it turns a 100 years in a few months. Circa 2025!!

The Town House offices are located in a historical building in the city centre of Harare, near the Harare Gardens and the National Gallery of Zimbabwe. They house the Town Clerk’s office and several other departments that are responsible for providing services for the residents of Harare, such as audit, ICT, corporate communications, supply chain, and monitoring and evaluation12. The Town House offices are open from Monday to Friday, from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm1. The Town House offices are a good place to visit if you want to learn more about the history and governance of Harare. The building was originally built as a residential club for white settlers in 1937, and later converted into a hotel and renamed Town House in 19582. It has hosted many famous guests, such as Queen Elizabeth II, Nelson Mandela, Bob Marley, and Muhammad Ali2. The building has a colonial architecture and a grand staircase that leads to the Town Clerk’s office1. The Town House offices are also a good place to access various services and information from the Harare City Council. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the offices are well-organized and equipped with modern technology. You can pay your bills, apply for permits, report complaints, request documents, and get updates on various projects and initiatives from the council12. The offices are also used for hosting meetings, workshops, and events for the council and its stakeholders1. I would recommend the Town House offices to anyone who wants to interact with the Harare City Council or learn more about the city’s history and administration. The offices are conveniently located, well-maintained, and offer a range of services and information. They also have a historical significance and a cultural value for Harare

One highlight is Kopoje Hill, which offers breathtaking views of Harare and houses the eternal flame of Independence that burns year-round. Participants rave about their experiences with knowledgeable guides like Sibo, who are passionate about sharing insights into local life.
Definitely an experience worthwhile if you’re visiting Harare. Our guide, Sibs, was very sweet and knowledgeable. We learned so much about the history, culture and politics in Zimbabwe. It was nice to be able to walk around and navigate the city with someone local. You can reach out to them via the website and they’ll contact you via WhatsApp. Or you can just give them a call directly. They are super responsive and easy to schedule a time for a tour. The tour is free (though we recommend tipping at the end of the tour).

I would highly recommend this company for the walking tour and cooking lesson. Takunda, our guide for the walking tour, was very knowledgeable and we learned a lot about Harare. Takunda taught us a lot about the city past and present, answered our questions and gave us recommendations for our time here. It was a great way to explore the city on foot. We then had a cooking lesson with June and it was fantastic. We tried some amazing fruit and learned how to make lots of delicious food including sadza, beans, corn and rape with dovi (peanut butter). All of the produce we cooked with was really fresh and June and her relatives were so welcoming. We are vegetarian and this was catered to well and we certainly did not go hungry! It was easy to arrange the lesson and tour via whatsapp.
