Tarkarli Beach is a sought-after destination known for its clear azure waters and unspoiled sandy shores, attracting beach enthusiasts seeking a tropical haven. The area offers an array of aquatic adventures such as snorkeling and scuba diving, providing opportunities to discover its lively underwater ecosystem and colorful coral formations. Renowned for its breathtaking sunsets and tranquil ambience, the beach serves as a perfect retreat for unwinding and replenishing the soul.
Tarkarli Beach in Malvan is a breathtakingly beautiful destination, where the river, backwaters, and sea converge. The tranquil sea, dotted with numerous small islands, adds to its charm. A major attraction is the historic Sindhudurg Fort, making Tarkarli a must-visit for nature lovers and history enthusiasts alike.
Mrugesh W — Google review
Tarkarli Beach was honestly a big letdown. We went with high hopes, but the condition of the beach was shocking. It’s very dirty and not maintained at all. In the evening, we thought of sitting by the shore, but there was dog poop all over—no place to even step properly. Plus, there's a fish market close by, and they throw all the waste near the beach itself, which creates a horrible smell. The water didn't even look clean. For such a well-known spot, it felt neglected. Authorities should really do something. A beach with so much potential is getting ruined due to poor cleanliness and lack of basic facilities. Definitely not a good experience for families or anyone expecting a peaceful beach outing.
Baburao G — Google review
Beautiful beach. Not very crowded on weekdays. Beautiful sunset. Well maintained and clean. However underwater visibility not that good for scuba or snorkeling

Tarkarli is not just a beach — it is serenity wrapped in salt and sand. The gentle laughter of children, the footprints that fade with every tide, the distant sails of fishermen returning home — all weave a story of life in harmony with nature. And beneath the waves, a hidden world of vibrant corals and dancing fish makes the waters feel alive with secrets. 🐠🌴

Beautiful, clean, and peaceful — Tarkarli Beach is a perfect getaway for nature lovers and water sports enthusiasts.
Bhagyashree K — Google review
Tarkarli Beach, nestled near Malvan in Maharashtra’s Konkan coast, is an unspoiled paradise—far more laid-back than Goa, yet brimming with natural charm . The long stretch of golden sand fringed by casuarina and coconut trees makes for perfect beachcombing, sunbathing, and romantic walks. The crystal-clear turquoise water is the highlight here, offering exceptional visibility of up to 20 feet—ideal for snorkeling and scuba diving . Underwater excursions near Sindhudurg Fort reveal colorful coral reefs and diverse marine life—sometimes even dolphins—for half-hour dives that feel like pure magic Water sports at Devbagh’s Tsunami Island and the incoming Karli River backwaters add to the adventure: parasailing, jet-skiing, banana rides, bumper boats, kayaking—each ride affordable (₹100–₹600) with some bargaining . Accommodations range from cozy MTDC beach cottages with sea views and hammocks to family-run homestays offering authentic Malvani thalis—spicy seafood curry, tiger prawns—that win high praise . Be sure to book ahead, as spots fill fast . Travel logistics are straightforward: access via Kudal railway or road from Mumbai/Pune, followed by a drive to Tarkarli. Roads are decent, but local infrastructure remains modest—adding to its rustic, under‑the‑radar appeal **Verdict:** Tarkarli Beach is a hidden gem—untouched, tranquil, and teeming with natural beauty. It offers a refreshing break from crowded tourist spots with its serene sand, azure sea, vibrant marine life, and genuine coastal cuisine. Ideal for couples, families, and solo travelers seeking simple coastal luxury. **Tip:** Visit between October and February for best weather and water clarity, and don’t miss the snorkeling/diving experience!

Sindhudurg Fort, located in Malvan, Maharashtra, is a 17th-century fortress accessible by ferry. The fort stands as a testament to the power of the Maratha empire and took around 30 years to be completed. Situated on a small island, it offers timed self-guided tours with sea views and is known for its historical significance. The fort's remarkable finesse and scenic location make it an enchanting attraction for tourists interested in India's rich history and historical monuments.
Sindhudurg Fort is a historic sea fort located on Kurte Island near Malvan in Maharashtra. Built by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj between 1664 and 1667, it was designed to protect the Maratha Empire from foreign invasions. The fort spans approximately 48 acres and features massive walls, some rising up to 9 meters high and 3 meters thick, with 42 bastions providing panoramic views of the sea and land. A unique aspect of the fort is its concealed main entrance, designed to be invisible from the outside, showcasing the strategic ingenuity of its builders. Inside the fort, visitors can explore the Shivaji Maharaj Temple, which houses a statue believed to bear the warrior's own handprints and footprints, making it a sacred site for many. The fort also contains three freshwater tanks named after Shivaji's mother, wife, and daughter: Jijamata, Saibai, and Putalabai. These tanks are connected to natural springs and provide fresh water throughout the year. Other notable features include a secret tunnel, a solitary coconut tree that thrives without soil or water, and footprints etched on rocks near the sea, attributed to Shivaji Maharaj and his horse. Sindhudurg Fort stands as a testament to the Maratha Empire's naval strength and architectural prowess. Its rich history and unique features make it a must-visit destination for history enthusiasts and travelers alike.
Irfan P — Google review
I visited this place with my mom last year, and despite the entry fees, the serene environment made it well worth the trip. The boat ride, however, is limited to 45 minutes, which can feel a bit rushed if you want to explore every nook and cranny of the fort. We did manage to visit the Shivaji temple, and the structure itself is truly incredible. If you're looking for peace and a glimpse into history, this place is definitely worth a visit!
Janhavi R — Google review
Sindhudurg Fort was built by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to secure from attacks thru sea. It is a wonder on the sea. To visit the fort, it needs travelling in boat. Boats are plenty. It takes roughly 1.5 to 2 hrs to see the fort from inside. Very good guides are available on main fort gate. They give complete info with related history. Apart from huge construction, Shri Shivaji Maharaj temple, his foot print & hand print on the rocks, water supply arrangements, buruj (protection wall), etc are the attractions. There are food joints, clean toilets, sign boards etc inside. Newly installed idol of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is there in the sea water nearby. Outside, there is big parking area. One has to buy ferry boat ticket and then go. Normally there is heavy rush here. We were fortunate to experience calm and quiet surroundings.

Chivla Beach Malvan Hardly a kilometer from the Malvan region, Chivla Beach is a divine site that offers much more than the beautiful views. It even promises to enthrall tourists with the adventure activities that are organized here. Nature admirers and couples are often seen thronging this place as it is clean, pristine and peaceful. The beach is pristine, with crystal-clear waters and powdery white sand that stretches for miles. The scenery is breathtaking, with stunning rock formations and picturesque views of the surrounding landscape. The best part? The beach is relatively uncrowded, even on weekends, making it feel like a private paradise. The local vendors and restaurants in the area offer delicious seafood , adding to the overall charm of the experience. Malvan Beach is located in Maharashtra, around 100 km from North Goa. It’s one of the most beautiful beaches I’ve visited! 🌊 I enjoyed four types of thrilling water sports — jet ski ride, banana ride, bumper ride, and parasailing. Each one was an amazing experience! The statue of Shivaji Maharaj standing proudly in the sea is truly iconic. Overall, it was a fun and memorable trip!

Beautiful Beach ! Tip :- While buying the water sports/activities ticket try to negotiate and get in cheaper price when we went we were told to buy for 1200/- so we negotiated to 650/- each for 10 people still we thought it was over priced 😂 Also for rides like scuba and Parasailing you have to give 200/- extra for extra time so I recommend pay extra and get the best out of this trip!

The Malvan Fish Market is a must-visit destination for seafood enthusiasts. The market offers a wide variety of fresh fish, including Bangda, Paplet, and Surmai. Visitors can witness the lively fish auctions in the early morning where they can purchase high-quality fish at affordable prices directly from local fishermen. The market also provides the opportunity to explore other nearby attractions and experience the authentic local culture of Malvan.
If you’re in Malvan, Tarkarli, Devbag, or nearby areas and you’re a fish lover — this is the place for you. A must-visit spot for anyone who loves seafood! You’ll find fresh fish at incredibly affordable prices. I highly recommend visiting around 7 AM for the freshest catch. You can also visit between 4 PM to 6 PM, when the second auction happens. While evening fish are fresh too, the morning catch is definitely superior.

This fish market offers an average setup, but visiting it is truly a unique experience. You’ll find a wide variety of fresh catch straight from the boats, giving you an authentic glimpse of the local fishing culture. The place is lively, full of energy, and perfect for anyone who enjoys seeing the hustle of a real market. Even if you’re not buying, just walking around, observing the fresh seafood displays, and interacting with the vendors makes it worth the visit. Definitely a must-see spot for a genuine local experience!

Visit early morning to experience fish auctions. You can buy fish at cheaper rates. Mostly fresh fishes directly from local fishermen. With nominal charges you can cut big fishes. Chicken and mutton market is also adjacent. Auction ends around 10 am, later you can buy fish from retail market.

Pritam B — Google review
I recently visited the Malvan Fish Market, and I was impressed by the vast array of authentic and fresh seafood on offer. As a seafood enthusiast, I was thrilled to discover the variety of fish available, from popular choices like pomfret and kingfish to more exotic options like surmai and rawas. The market was bustling with activity, with friendly vendors eager to share their knowledge and recommendations. The fish was exceptionally fresh, with a clear emphasis on quality and sustainability. What struck me most was the authenticity of the market. It was evident that the vendors were passionate about their craft, and the seafood was sourced locally, supporting the local fishing community. While the market could benefit from a bit more organization and infrastructure, the overall experience was good. I left with a fresh catch and a newfound appreciation for the seafood culture in Malvan. You can get outstanding dry fish with you to your places if you live in the other states you can get dry bangda, sode(dry prawns), jawala(dry shrimp). If you're a seafood lover or looking for an authentic market experience, Malvan Fish Market is a must-visit destination.

It's a favorite spot for local fishermen, offering a relaxed atmosphere for walks. Visitors can also explore nearby attractions like Sindhudurg fort and enjoy various water sports activities.
Few locals here and there on the beach. Nice place to watch the sunset. Also on can the Sindadurg fort from the beach.
SANKET J — Google review
This beach is between Malvan and Tarkarli and less commercialized. Clean and serene beach. We have been there in morning time and experiences sun rise. Very few visitors were there. Excellent beach near to town. Easily accessible
Rohan P — Google review
Nice safe beach, not crowded. Good safe places to stay along the beach.
Uday S — Google review
Fishermen's beach. you may see lots of fishing boats (paat). Very close to to Sindhudurg fort. you can walk to Dandi beach and Malvan port from this beach. Not that much clean due to fishing and fish waste. Locals (only few) are still going to toilet on beach in broad daylight, this must be stopped by local authority. Very shameful for morning walkers and tourist.
Shivaram T — Google review
Shacks are good but during high tide the beach disappeared almost completely, so be careful. This is one steep depth beach. So play with caution. Great food from Malvan csn be found in nearby local businesses. Otherwise a very chill beach with not much to do. Sometimes this is a vibe better than all the buzz around.

This beach is ideal if you’re looking for a relatively peaceful beach getaway with nature, decent amenities, and occasional adventure without heavy commercialization. Good for couples, families, photographers, or those wanting to escape the crowded tourist beaches. If you want luxury, big party‑scene, or perfect scuba diving conditions every time, then this might be a bit limiting.
Bhagyashree K — Google review
One of the best beaches. Calm and feeling peaceful. Clean water and children's friendly beach.

No words. Superb, excellent etc etc. Come and live here for atleast 1 week and your mind will be like no worries. Enjoy water sports, clean ocean water, nice people, eat sea food varieties, sit calmly on beach to enjoy sound of waves, roam around sea shore in evening and list goes on.

Absolutely love this place. The place is not too much crowded like other commercial beaches and also not too sparsely visited for a security concern. Quite a safe place to visit. You can find many sea facing resorts on this beach. I stayed at Mayekar's Holiday Home and the stay was great(will surely recommend others to visit it). On the beach there are various water sports activities like dolphin ride, hydrobikes, banana rides, etc to name a few. Also, there are fish spa centers on the beach. There are also horse carriage and horse rides available here.

As soon as we reached Talashil, we were astounded by it's beauty. There was no one on this beach apart from us. You can watch crabs and raptors going about their business.
