Nestled within rugged cliffs, Calanque de Figuerolles is a picturesque cove offering a tranquil pebble beach and a nearby restaurant. A circular hike from La Ciotat provides an opportunity to admire this beautiful site and enjoy breathtaking views from the top of Cap Canaille, Europe's highest sea cliff. The area showcases unique conglomerate rocks, distinct from the limestone found in other Provence massifs.
Easily accessible by bus. A short walk from the bus stop and you already have the most beautiful views known to man. Clear water and a nice place to swim. I recommend going here in March- April or in October-November, because it's not that warm then, but you can still swim. In the summer the heat is unbearable.
Pepijn M — Google review
Magnificent view and easy access. I went early before the sunrise and I got a free parking till 9am and I enjoyed the Calanque all by myself😍
Catherine M — Google review
Worth the hike for 30 minutes, wonderful day
Rafael R — Google review
Just beautiful. You need to be there very early to park…there is a car park but we saw people double parking which would make it hard to get out. Better to get one of the end spaces on the road. These are still paid we believe, we paid anyway! Charges are expensive but worth it for the beach and view. Water shoes are a must. Beautiful bay for swimming. Steep walk back up.

Great place..we love it in the spring!
Andreea N — Google review
This is my favorite place to go. I used to go there when I was little. It's far from the other beach but man the water is clear, not too crowded and when it's hot that's the place. You'll also find a small restaurant there to catch a drink or more.
Amel D — Google review
Medium sized calanque made out of interesting brown mud and stone. This, along with the prominant Rocher du Capucin hill that looks like a hawk/ dog head, makes for perfect photo ops. beach is busy in the day but fairly quiet in the evening when the sun disappears out of it, with rocks of differing heights to jump off of. Only downside is the pebbly beach gets a sheen of brown on your beach towel! Parking on street is ok, 1 hour for free and free after 8pm.
Nick L — Google review
This lovely cove is about 20min walk from la Ciotat harbour . Don't bother driving ,parking is mostly residential. 1 restaurant and 1 cafe there , good afternoon or lunch treck

Great scenic garden with amazing views. Worth walking to the top and also get a refreshing swim on the clear waters. You can access the water entering the park.

"A breathtaking landscape — completely different from the typical beaches of France. After the first cove, there's another one that's quieter and less crowded. If you go a bit further, you can sit on the rocks and dive into the crystal-clear water. The view is absolutely rewarding!"
Georgia K — Google review
Very nice views and beach areas but pretty crowded and rocky. If you can find a spot to squat you will have a good time. Parking is the hardest part once you tackle that you are set.
Sandra A — Google review
Unbelievably busy, paid parking but park was closed for safety. Could still go down to the beach but everyone was so packed close together we didn't bother. Nice to walk about the pathway and take pics but that's it....
Sarah — Google review
Nice clear water. Rocky shore but not busy. Easy hike through the gardens.
Thomas M — Google review
A gem overlooking the calanques. Come with good hiking shoes to make the most of it. Breath taking views. The hack to the calanques is not very kid friendly Pic Nic in the parc by the playground in the shade was very enjoyable. Toilets available on site. Clean and well maintained. No cafe or food. Bring your own.

Plage de la calanque du Mugel is a picturesque spot featuring two pebble beaches, ideal for various water activities such as paddle boarding, kayaking, and snorkeling. Visitors can enjoy the clean and calm waters while relaxing on the beach or exploring the surrounding area. The presence of lifeguards ensures safety, and there is also a restaurant nearby.
Hidden gem. Needs a bit of a walk - or luck when trying to park close by. It is small so not too much place to enjoy

I do not recommend this beach. The beach was very small and crowded. The water was surprisingly cold. For me, it was not possible to go into the water. The parking was very expensive (2 hours 7€).

(Translated by Google) Small pebble beach, very quickly crowded, even before 10 a.m., but supervised and with a restaurant. The two surrounding coves were closed that day due to fire risk, which concentrated the crowds on this beach. On the other hand, the water was magnificent for snorkeling, teeming with fish; I didn't even need to leave the supervised area for that. Saw about ten jellyfish. The yellow flag was up, which put people on alert. With a mask, it was easy to spot and avoid them. Parking nearby and easy to access, even if it's a bit of a climb on the way back.

I love that beach. There is not to much space to lie down but it is calm, peaceful and pretty. Nice to just go and chill next to the sea. I would not recommend that place with little kids, more like spot for a little date. There is a road parking and it is quite tight so if you are having and SUV then better get ready with your nerves.

Beautiful port town with some great restaurants for lunch too. Nice relaxed vibe about the place
Dave P — Google review
Tried to go there on a Sunday but parking was a nightmare. Once I found a spot (a bit far from the beach) I was shocked that parking for a couple of hours was almost 12 euro. And there were parking inspectors everywhere so a fine was almost guaranteed. Compared to other beaches between Marseille and Toulon, this was way excessive, so I got the vibe that the city council was not exactly encouraging tourists. The beach itself looked pretty nice but not different from many others around. I also tried Plage Lumiere which is nearby, but same story. Ended up going to Plage des Lecques instead.

Haute French restaurant
La Presqu'île is a renowned restaurant located between Cassis and the stunning Calanques massif, offering breathtaking views of the Bay of Cassis and Cap Canaille. Since 1978, this establishment has been serving inventive southern French cuisine that showcases the flavors of Provence and the Mediterranean. The restaurant's terrace provides a privileged setting to enjoy a leisurely meal while soaking in the last rays of daylight.
La Presqu'île in Cassis offers an unforgettable dining experience in a prime location, with stunning views of the cliffs across the bay. The atmosphere is beautiful, and the service was absolutely flawless from start to finish. Every dish we had was delicious and beautifully presented, truly a feast for both the eyes and the palate. The only downside was the portion sizes, which were quite small. The turbot main course, in particular, was surprisingly tiny—probably less than 2 ounces. Despite this, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and left with a great impression. If you’re looking for a fantastic dinner with breathtaking views, I highly recommend La Presqu'île. Just don’t expect large portions!

Wow!! Cannot get over how amazing our lunch was today. Amazing amazing views. Great vibe and exceptional service by the staff. Also the best duck I’ve ever had. Having a G&T to start the lunch with these views was such a vibe let me tell you! Won’t regret trying this place. Also the parking situation was amazing. They have dedicated parking for people who have an advanced reservation with the restaurant. They leave your name with the parking attendant at front, you just say your name, don’t have to pay 10 EUR and get parking right out the front of the restaurant. We went early and enjoyed the walk around the view point and Calanques.
Jayne C — Google review
Everything was perfect during our visit. The welcome was warm, the attention to detail from the staff who prepared and those who served was exceptional. The food tasted as good as it looked and believe me,visually, the dishes were works of art! See my pictures. I would strongly recommend this as a restaurant offering great ambience and food to match. Well done to all concerned! I cannot think of anything that could have been done better. Oh and did I mention the cheese board?Oh my word! Sublime!
Nick M — Google review
Our set lunch menu was as tasty and beautifully as the view was marvelous. Exciting tastes with meticulous attention to the details. An addition from the wide selection of cheeses made the meal complete. The staff was very pleasant and professional. Clearly a restaurant with high ambitions, witch I believe they reacted.
Peter B — Google review
The view and setting are absolutely breathtaking, worth every penny. I recommend booking an early dinner to fully enjoy the sunset 🌅 and stunning sea views. The food was delicious, with the grilled tomato being a standout. I appreciate the concept of offering two set menus to choose from. However, the service could be improved by having two designated serving times. This would allow the kitchen to bring out food for all guests simultaneously, which would save time, especially considering the terrace has over 50 seats. Staggered arrivals make it challenging to serve everyone smoothly ☺️.
S — Google review
If you are in cassis and looking for a place to picnic with nice views here is the place. Recommend time is before sunset and you can see the colors at the mountains turn to be golden. Need to prepare for a comfortable mattress or pillow as it rocky area, not an easy to find a way to get in to the water but you should try.

The food was absolutely delicious. Absolutely top. It is pricey, but it is worth the money. We tried the Chateau Bandol wine and was amazing The reason for not giving 5 star is because we were asked by the waiter if we want still or sparkling water, instead of just giving us a bottle of tap water like they did for all the other french tables. But they they saw we are tourists, and well … profit is profit

I went to this restaurant with my family for dinner. When we placed our order, we specifically asked for the burgers to be cooked rare and medium rare. The server took our order and went to the kitchen without mentioning any issues. However, when the food arrived, the burgers weren’t just overcooked — they were completely well done, almost to the point of being “congratulations” burgers. We politely asked the server to remake them as we had originally requested. Instead, he told us they couldn’t do that due to some vague law requiring beef to be fully cooked. Even if that were true, it was the responsibility of the waiter or the kitchen to inform us before preparing the food that our request couldn’t be honored. They didn’t — they simply went ahead and overcooked the burgers without saying a word, then refused to correct the issue. From that point on, the atmosphere between our table and the staff was, to say the least, awkward. Everything else about the experience was fine, but that particular incident — where the restaurant was clearly at fault and refused to acknowledge it — left a bad impression overall.

The beach is nice. But it's la Ciotat!!! 34 euros for 1 mattress and 1 umbrella??! Fois is good. Service nice

Good amenities — the umbrella, the sunbeds. Good sand beach, shallow water — great for the kids, the seniors and for the alternatively-floating public. Good location. Fast service. A dining option right near the beach in the shadow: great food, lots of fruits, cheerful and welcoming staff. I recommend, and I will visit again.

The best discovery of the holidays!! If you looking for french cuisine with an amazing view and music live at night... This is your place. All staff 100% committed to give their best so you can enjoy your food watching the sunset and the sunrise. Forget the expensive and luxury places this is your place. Ask for the cocktails!

Unfortunately, this place got significantly worse in comparison with last year. Coctail I had was basic (last year they really worked on their presentation), wine was clearly dilluted in water and the mixed plate of cheese and charcuterie is insanely small for the price of 22 eur (sic!). Furthermore, the service was insanely slow - it took about 20 min just to get the menu and then another 30 min to receive the order which didn't include any cooked meal.

Same Same Beach in Cassis, located at the Mahoany Hotel in Bestouan, is a renowned spot offering a beachside restaurant and stunning views of Cap Canaille. The beach features a bar-snack, restaurant, and various lounging options including beds and sun loungers. Visitors can also enjoy a small shop on-site. With its panoramic terrace overlooking the beach, guests can relax on deckchairs while savoring grilled fish, salads, and other delectable dishes.
If you're looking for an unforgettable lunch experience, this is the spot you don't want to miss! Enjoy your meal with a stunning view that will take your breath away!

As you walk toward the beach, you’ll discover the beach facing bar called same same same beach. The view is extraordinary as you have the drink. But the service is unfriendly, and the prices are extraordinary. Two smoothies cost us sixteen euros. And this is a non alcoholic smoothie! Buying a parasol costs also 16 euros. In this economy?

Nice spot for lunch on the beach. The Asian inspired menu is great and food came out really quick after ordering. Drinks are great too and the views are amazing. It’s just a bit expensive

The nicest place at Bestouan beach. The only place at Bestouan beach :) Champagne by the glass. No Champagne specific glasses, though. Sparkling water served in plastic bottles with plastic glasses - might be due to security reasons. Nice view, like the style / decorations. Locals come here, too - drinking Ricard bottles on weekdays at noon \o/ la belle vie!

2 stars for the view and drinks but the owner and staff are horrendous - too cool or indifferent to do their jobs. They seemed annoyed to have to take our order and then forgot half of it and didn’t seem to care. Pity as it is in such a nice location and could be so good. Also you have to line up to pay at the end with one indifferent person taking payment. A pretty bad experience all round other than the fabulous view and location

Chez Tania is a relaxed hotel that offers accommodation with private terraces, providing guests with an opportunity to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. The restaurant and bar on-site offer excellent service, a wide range of dishes, and beach access. The staff is kind, attentive, and very friendly. The menu is generous and reasonably priced, featuring stunning views and delicious pancakes that are highly recommended. Overall, Chez Tania provides a wonderful dining experience in a picturesque location.
We had a great lunch here, we ordered the fresh fish of the day, dorade, which was excellent! As well as the shrimps & octopus dish. The fish soup for starters was yami. The desserts were out of this world. All this with great local rose wine and the beautiful scenery on the calanque de figuerolles, just perfect! The service was very friendly and helpful.
Vered B — Google review
Nice setting steps from the calanque beach, quiet and off the beaten path, walking access only. Quiet location with sea view. The restaurant was busy, good flow of customers. The menu wasn’t huge but had a variety of choices. Ate the fish and beef. Good meals, nicely plated. The servers were pleasant and welcoming. Suggest coming to eat at 7pm to get the daylight and get started early.

A disgrace sold as a “boutique hotel” The place markets itself as a charming, quality hotel — in reality, it’s a noisy, poorly kept youth hostel run by untrained young staff with zero supervision. No reception, no housekeeping (not even once in a full week), no phone to contact staff. The so-called “reception” and office areas are used as storage rooms, always empty, never attended. The tiny “shared garden” faces the snack bar, the restaurant, the bungalows, all the kitchen air-conditioning units, the laundry room, the staff workshop (full of tools and clutter), and finally the public walkway to the beach. Result: constant noise, zero privacy. Wet outdoor furniture, dirty cushions, and swarms of mosquitoes breeding in stagnant water. At night, the beach turns into a party zone — amplified music, shouting, car alarms, and the main entrance left unlocked, with no night staff, no supervision, no security. Several fights and incidents occurred during the stay. For the price, it’s outrageous. I’ve stayed in far poorer countries where hospitality, cleanliness, and respect are worth a hundred times more than this insult at €180 per night.

We had a nice half day trip to Callanques des Figuerolles and Chez Tania restaurant. It is perfectly nestled in between red rock formations with gentle breeze from the sea to cool you off. Waiters are really polite and fast. We ate traditional Bouillabaisse and kids ate menu enfant. Everything was perfect

Stunning location, good food but terrible service. Waiters took no notice of us, we waited very long for any food or drinks to arrive. It seens staff can't cope with the large number of visitors and don't really care about their wellbeing. Not sure I'd go back, despite the amazing location.

Île Verte is a tree-covered landmass that serves as a nesting site for seagulls throughout the year. It is also accessible by boat from Old Port during summer months. The island's lush vegetation provides a habitat for various bird species, including the seagulls who make it their home. Additionally, tourists can take advantage of the boat shuttle service to explore its natural beauty and enjoy a serene experience away from city life.
Wonderful island, all covered with forest. Spectacular views at bec de l'aigle and calanques. The passage costs 13 euro from la Ciotat, a bit expensive but the views really make it up to you. The island is very small, it doesn't take even an hour to make a tour there.
Kath C — Google review
I did enjoy my time on the island. It is a 10-minute boat ride from La Ciotat and costs 14 euro round trip. The coves are smaller than the ones on the main land. The crystal blue water is rewarding the time on the island. It's hot during the summer months, and packing water is a must. Parc national des Calanques is the best nature wounder in the region, and as I spent my last day here on the island ile Verte has a different vibe compared with the mainland park. The end story of the for this hospitality is to be left for the birds to be free on this habitat.

(Translated by Google) Île Verte is a small uninhabited wooded island, located in the Calanques National Park. It is approximately 600 meters from Bec de l'Aigle and 1.5 km from the port of La Ciotat. This island offers very beautiful landscapes of coves. The view of the Bec de l'Aigle, located just opposite, is superb. In addition, you can admire a nice panorama of the city and the Bay of La Ciotat. We discovered the island in April, during the gull nesting period. It was an unexpected sight with many birds nesting on the island. Île Verte includes two forts: Fort Géry and Fort Saint Pierre, the latter being the highest point on the island. The two forts have played a defensive role in the Bay of Ciotat throughout history. We can still find the remains of the blockhouses on the island, witnesses of the Second World War. It takes half a day maximum to visit the island. From April to October, shuttles operate every hour, in approximately 10 minutes. During the season, a bar-restaurant is set up on the island and welcomes visitors.

(Translated by Google) A 15-minute boat ride from the old port of La Ciotat (departs every hour from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm in July and August), for €14 round trip (cash on the boat, no online booking), takes you to this small, verdant island that's easy to navigate, offering priceless views of Bec d'Aigle, the Mugel calanque, and La Ciotat. There's a lovely, shaded path that circles the entire island—it takes an hour to walk it all slowly—and a couple of calanques where you can sunbathe. To the right of the pier is La Plageolle, a very small, windswept cove in the shade even in the early afternoon, and Seynerolles, a larger, sunnier cove, to the left. The water was so clear and clean that we saw a starfish and a ray. At the pier, there's a restroom and a reasonably priced bar where you can sip a beer while waiting for the ferry to return. Definitely a must-see if you're in the area.

In 10 minutes you disembark on a small pontoon, a bar at the end, then steps made of wooden logs, and you go around the island in 1 hour. 3 calenques allow you to swim. Therefore avoid days during the holiday or summer season as the few places will be taken. Charming and picturesque walk. Plage des Lecques is a popular beach in France known for its beautiful sandy shores and clear Mediterranean waters. Visitors can enjoy sunbathing, swimming, and taking in the picturesque sunset. While the beach offers convenient amenities and nearby parking, it can get quite busy at times. Despite this, many appreciate the serene atmosphere and stunning scenery that make it a worthwhile destination for a relaxing day by the sea. However, some have expressed concerns about littering and expensive parking fees in the area.
One of the most beautiful beaches I have been in Mediterranean Sea.Highly recommended for people who have children or people who don’t know how to swim because here the water gets gradually deeper so meaning you can go in quite far before not being about to touch the sand. We stay more than a week and none of the days was the same. When is windy so many waters sport lovers come and show their skills 🏄‍♂️ .Parking is available and this beach is well maintained.Workers usually around 5am clean all this beach to be ready for us in perfect condition. Embark on a delightful journey along the Voie Douce in La Ciotat, a picturesque port town renowned as the birthplace of Petanque. This charming pathway, once an old railway line, has been transformed into a beautifully landscaped route that meanders through stunning coastal views and lush greenery. Perfect for nature enthusiasts and sports lovers alike, the Voie Douce fosters a warm community spirit among walkers, runners, and cyclists who share this serene space.
(Translated by Google) Following the route of an old railway line, the Voie Douce de la Ciotat is a laid out path - concrete or coated - and benches at regular intervals. The two rails have been kept in the center, as a nod to the railways. The path is safe for pedestrians, scooters and cyclists. The surrounding area is entirely green and landscaped, offering shaded areas and a relaxing environment, ideal for walking, jogging or rollerblading. We covered the entire path, from the current SNCF station to the Tourist Office, approximately 5.5 km. The path is really original with a tunnel and the old Ceyreste station, which is now a restaurant called Le Wagon. The landscapes are varied and there are some views of the sea. Access is of course free and it takes around 1h15 to complete the entire route, which does not involve any difficulties. It is a very beautiful creation, very original, and a place to discover in La Ciotat. All the people I have met on this gentle path are of the same opinion so perhaps it will be time to change this negative point... To make this gentle route more secure and passable. (Translated by Google) A magnificent walk. Yes, it's a shared experience between walkers, joggers, bikers, dogs, and scooters, but this is the second time we've been here, and the coexistence is going well. Everything is well-landscaped, varied, flowery, and perfectly maintained. Apart from some areas overrun with dog poop. Several restrooms and water points along the route. However, be careful, there's nowhere to buy a snack or ice cream... plan ahead. We left from the city center with 2 hours of free parking. The journey begins above the boules pitch behind the hospital and arrived at the La Ciotat Ceyreste train station. Walking slowly and stopping to read the posters, it took us 1 hour and 45 minutes each way. Everything is beautiful...the locomotive at the beginning...the remains of the rail...at the Ceyreste stop, the level crossing barriers...the tunnel + the Ceyreste train station filled with posters of photos from this moment in cinema history. On the way back, night was falling, but the cycle path is lit. Why not start another time from a parking lot along the way, which is completely free, because this cycle path ultimately takes you right through La Ciotat. It's a superb walk, almost always in the sun...the path is really laid-back, a beautiful little trail that can be easily done in just sneakers. (Original) Une magnifique balade promenade.

(Translated by Google) But what a beautiful layout. On the route of an old railway line with a history, 5.4 km long. It crosses the city. The slope is accessible to all. There are benches. On the tourist office website you will find an explanatory PDF and a map but it is impossible to get lost. You can either leave from the train station (free parking) or from the city center (paid parking). Allow 1.5 hours round trip on foot. You can also do it by bike. You will have to put your foot on the ground when passing through barriers but this is to avoid speeding, mopeds and thus sharing the space. It is a beautiful walk (Original) Mais quelle bel aménagement. The reception and service were very bad. We were 7 people, and as soon as we sat down, the staff started giving us a lecture, telling us in a rude way that each person had to order a dish. He added: ‘This is not a snack bar, this is a restaurant.’ He said all of this before even knowing what we wanted to order. Very impolite, arrogant, and it really ruined our experience.

French restaurant
Restaurant Le Mugel is a charming bistro-style eatery located in the lively municipal park of Mugel, right on the beach. While not particularly innovative, the menu offers well-prepared grilled fish and meats with bursting flavors in the grilled vegetables. The restaurant boasts an exceptional location with a fantastic view of the beach, bay, and island. Visitors can expect quick and friendly service along with fresh seasonal food and reasonably priced local wine.

A lovely bistro type restaurant in a fantastic setting overlooking the beach, bay and island. The service was quick and friendly, the food very good, and the prices very reasonable considering the wonderful setting. A 20 min walk from the Vieux-Port.

Exceptional location and excellent food! *No bank cards and quite far from an atm* Set on the beach in the lively little municipal park of Mugel, this restaurant is a solid bet for well prepared food. The menu is not particularly inventive, but the quality of the grilled fish and meats is excellent. The grilled vegetables are bursting with flavor and the quality is much better than one will find in such a lovely spot in most of the south of France. Definitely reserve ahead. For info, it is mostly open middays, except weekends and there are 2 services at lunch, so don't be late for your reservation or we will politely remind you that it is time to leave. On the bright side, the service is very quick and it is totally possible to have a relaxed meal in the time alotted. You can follow it with a stroll on the 2 beaches in the park or in the small botanical garden behind the restaurant. We've eaten here twice and will definitely be back. Friendly service.

Gary W — Google review
We had made a reservation and showed up in time. However we were told no reservation was made. Luckily we could prove we had called them the day before an talked for 3 minutes. The reservation than showed up but for the next day. They claimed we made a mistake but that was impossible since the day they claimed our reservation to be was the day we would leave France.. After insisting they found a solution. But we realised a little later that they just shifted the problem towards someone else. The service was rushed we had food literally 2 minutes after they served the apéritive. The food was OK though but definitely not matching with the apéritive. We ordered dessert and when asked if we'd like coffee we said yes but After dessert... Quite predictably coffee came with dessert and the bill we didn't ask for. Useless to say we would give a straight 0 stars if possible and we will not return. The view is gorgeous and they will always have full house despite bad reviews, that's OK but with refard to customer care they play in the lowest league just surviving through the location. So for the view its 8/10, 6/10 for the food, 2/10 for the location itself (furniture is functional but not cozy, décoration non existing) and 0/10 for service and customer care (sorry guys you screwed up it's inadmissible to ask us to change our plans, especially the way you did)

Naturist Beach of Liouquet is a stunning pebble beach nestled at the base of cliffs east of La Ciotat, between La Ciotat and St Cyr sur Mer. The beach tends to get crowded in summer, but it's an ideal spot during other seasons.

I love this beach. I've been coming here every summer since I was a child and the water is pretty much always clear, the beach isn't too full and it looks beautiful. It is a pebble and rock beach so if you find it difficult to get in and out of the water it's probably not great. I do not recommend this beach or any other beach in Ciotat. The beach is very dirty and the city hall employees are very racist. The town hall of this city imposes some ridiculous rules. There is a beach for dogs which is very small, when we arrived it was already full and you had nowhere to sit and we went near this one, at Lumiere beach and sat down our my dog on some stones at the edge of the beach so as not to disturb anyone. The municipal police came immediately to bring in our attention that we are not allowed to sit on those stones or to be with the dog on this beach, and up just 1 meter away from where we were there were some benches (but in the sun) and we were allowed to stay there, but not on the stones where we sat. Before we stayed there, there were other people, but no one came to say something to them because they were French. It’s incredible as on the amazing beach like those of Saint Tropez-Ramatuelle, access with dogs is allowed everywhere, and on this mess of a beach they have set up only a tiny place where you are allowed with your dog. Not to mention that if you have a dog that is not very friendly around other dogs and barks continuously if it sits near them, you are left with no options. Shame on you Ciotat for this! Don't forget that most of the people who come here are tourists and you make a lot of money from that, but you don't know how to appreciate them, you chase them away. And by the way you should write in English on the warning signs because it is an international language and it’s not mandatory for everyone to know French!

(Translated by Google) La Grande Plage de la Ciotat is one of the most beautiful beaches in the region, offering an idyllic setting between turquoise sea and surrounding mountains. Located near the city center, it is easily accessible and very busy, especially during the summer season. Its wide expanse of fine sand allows you to relax in the sun, practice water sports or take a walk by the sea. Another attraction of the beach is its infrastructure, which includes restaurants, cafes and shops, perfect for a full day by the sea. The landscape, with its calm and clear waters, is a true haven of peace for families, groups of friends or couples looking for relaxation. However, the popularity of the Grande Plage leads to high crowds, particularly in summer, which can make the area noisier and less pleasant. Additionally, like many urban beaches, cleanliness can sometimes be tested due to crowds. Despite this, the Grande Plage de la Ciotat remains an essential place for those who wish to enjoy the charms of the Mediterranean while being close to urban amenities.

The highlight of this picturesque spot is undoubtedly the Santa Maria bar and restaurant, which features a small beach shop and offers a private area with sunbeds for ultimate relaxation. While access to Plage de Fontsainte can be somewhat challenging due to its narrowness, the beach stretches out pleasantly along the coast.
(Translated by Google) Magnificent beach! A little difficult to access and quite narrow, but it stretches out quite long and remains very pleasant. The water is translucent, without seaweed, and it is easy to step in, which makes it perfect for both young and old swimmers. A real plus! The atmosphere is friendly, with welcoming people. A great discovery. (Original) Magnifique plage !

However, it remains very busy when the sea is calm, because it retains a certain charm and very clean water. La Plageolle, also known as Plage de Saint-Pierre, is located in a charming cove that serves as a docking point for boat shuttles from the mainland. This lovely beach is complemented by the presence of Chez Louisette, a quaint restaurant where visitors can enjoy delicious meals. With its picturesque setting and inviting atmosphere, La Plageolle offers an ideal spot to relax and soak up the beauty of the surroundings.

(Translated by Google) Nice bathing bay (Calanque). The water is extremely clear everywhere and caves and bays in the immediate vicinity invite you to explore. It's worth taking the first ferry to Île Verte at 9 a.m. Then the island is still pretty empty. The 10-minute crossing costs almost €50 for a family with 2 children but it was worth it. (Original) Nette Badebucht (Calanque). (Translated by Google) La Plageolle, located on the peaceful Île Verte off the coast of La Ciotat, is a small, discreet but very popular cove. It's one of three accessible calanques on the island, with a beach approximately 30 meters long, composed of pebbles and sand. The environment is completely natural, surrounded by pine trees and cliffs, with clear water ideal for swimming or snorkeling. To get there, you need to take a boat shuttle from the Vieux Port of La Ciotat (a 10- to 15-minute journey). Once you disembark at the island, a small path takes you to La Plageolle in a few minutes. There are no facilities on site: no shade, no trash cans, and no restaurant. Therefore, you must come equipped with water, a hat, and something to take home with you. It's a quiet and unspoiled spot, perfect for a relaxing day, away from the noise of the city. In summer, the beach fills up quickly due to limited space. It's best to arrive with the first morning shuttles. The view of the sea and La Ciotat is superb, and the overall atmosphere invites you to completely disconnect. A simple, authentic, and relaxing place.

Nestled in a picturesque cove, Anse du Petit Mugel is a hidden gem that offers an idyllic escape for those seeking tranquility. This charming beach is perfect for swimming and sunbathing, with its crystal-clear waters and breathtaking views of the surrounding cliffs. While it requires navigating some steps—making it less accessible for strollers or wheelchairs—the effort is well worth it. Many visitors appreciate its authentic, almost untouched atmosphere compared to larger beaches nearby.
