Saunton Sands is a picturesque beach known for its wide bay and gentle waves, making it an ideal spot for both beginner and longboard surfers. The three-mile stretch of golden sands is backed by dunes and allows dogs year-round. Located near the village of Braunton, it serves as a gateway to the renowned golden coast of North Devon, attracting families, dog owners, and surf enthusiasts alike.
Ample car park with a good cafe. Camera controlled with easy pay card tap machines. Dogs on lead in car park but as soon as on beach or dunes they can roam free for miles. There are no council public toilets and I wouldn't say it was disabled easy. In all great place for dogs, fresh sea air and walking.
Andrew F — Google review
What a amazing and beautiful beach. It’s such a wonderful place to visit.. I love visiting again and again. The restaurant allocated on site were good. I would recommend the cleaning service to monitor the toilets more regularly. However the sunset in the evening was breathtaking.
Kulvinder J — Google review
Huge beautiful dog friendly sandy beach! The only thing that lets it down, like most UK beaches, is the public toilets - they are absolutely revolting - filthy and smell so bad you need a gas mask to enter!
Dan C — Google review
What a great Beach! The sun was out and the surf was up….kind of, we were here for August bank holiday Monday so got here at around 10am ….and at 10.30am they were heading up the road with the car park full/closed signs, so get here early. There is a great little beach hut cafe selling pasties and rolls , coffee etc also a little shop selling beach tat. There is also a restaurant there for the more refined palate. There is a surf shop and surf school for all your surfing needs. The beach itself was clean and massive! Check the tide times…at low tide it’s quite a walk to get to the sea. I took the kids body boarding which they loved…the waves were big enough without being scary and we never ventured over waist depth. It’s dog friendly so plenty of ankle biters yapping and changing around but not too much of a nuisance. We took our own gear but you can hire everything there if you want to, including windbreaks, chairs, even beach tents…they do a complete beach camp set up for £20 there’s even huts available for £30. All in all a fab day was had by all, topped off by having fish and chips at squires in nearby Braunton.
Dave ( — Google review
Beautiful place! This is the pictures of the dunes and you can walk for hours. Highly recommended but is a 2.5 mile walk to the beach from here. There is parking further up off the main road that takes you directly to the beach. The parking for the dunes was £2.50 which is fair and the sights are worth it. Just try to memorise way back
Sneffi12 — Google review
We had such a lovely visit to Saunton Sands Beach with our dog! The beach is absolutely beautiful – wide, sandy, and stretches on for miles. It’s the perfect place for a long walk, and our dog had the best time running free and splashing in the sea. It’s great to find a dog-friendly beach that’s also so clean and peaceful. The views are stunning and there’s plenty of space, even on a busy day. We’ll definitely be coming back – it’s a little slice of coastal paradise! 🐾🌊🐶
Jason O — Google review
Very good accommodation, with very good food served in the restaurant and very friendly staff. Great beach where dogs can run free. 😊
Shirley W — Google review
Dog friendly beach with plenty of parking. Free toilets and a cafe with plenty of options to suit all tastes. Miles and miles of proper sandy beach where the tide goes out for what seems like forever. Space for ball games and kite flying

Nature & Wildlife Areas
Crow Point is a stunning river beach in the South West, offering breathtaking views of Appledore and the surrounding area. It's a perfect destination for families, friends, and even pets. The beach provides access to Braunton Burrows and a nearby golf course, adding an extra layer of adventure to your visit. Accessible via a toll road through Braunton Burrows, the journey offers glimpses of local wildlife and a sense of seclusion.
A brilliant adventure beach, accessible via toll road (cash only). Plenty of parking and a gorgeous place to go for a walk. There are boat wrecks visible at low tide, which we loved exploring and the kids also found stick dens to play in.
Steph G — Google review
We paid the £2.50 toll road fee and parked at Crow Point car park, we then took the dunes walk. A lovely walk spoiled by numerous dog owners not clearing up after their pets. You end up smelling dog droppings along the walk when it should just be fresh sea air..
Clint C — Google review
Quiet & spaceous! Walked across the sand ( dragging the wife in a wheelchair with a piggy back on the soft stuff) Had a picnic when the tide was out. Freindly locals who were up for a chat!
Jason B — Google review
A great area to walk around. Also close to the Assault training and D Day Landing craft mock-ups which are must to visit. There is also a ship wreck which still has the engine in place. Same parking area for all, just £2.50 for the private toll.
Kevin E — Google review
Lovely hidden gem. We heard about it from some locals listening in on our conversation over drinks. You can do a good few miles loop along the beach and cutting back in across the dunes, or walk all the way to Saunton Sands. Good for windsurfing when conditions right.
Molotovshark — Google review
A lovely place to take your dog or children to. Plenty to keep both amused and wide open spaces on the beach. Accessed by a toll road (£2.50) with a electronic barrier with quite a few speed bumps and passing places before you reach the large parking area which is gravel and can be a bit muddy after prolonged rain. Parts of the area are Army training grounds but are still accessible. There are expansive views up river to Barnstaple and across to Instow and Appledore and out to sea. No toilets or places to get refreshments so you’ll need to make sure you have everything you need for the day. There’s a lot of driftwood on the beach for children to make camps and shelters and the odd shipwreck to play with. On a warm summer’s day it’s a lovely place to spend some time walking in the dunes but be aware that there are Adders and it’s best to keep your pet close by as it’s a slow drive to the nearest vet in Braunton.
Phillip J — Google review
Access took longer than I thought it would but provision for parking was good! I wish I had longer to explore because there’s clearly lots of the area to look at! Lovely views across the Taw estuary to Appledore
Stuart R — Google review
Always visit crow point when in North Devon, £2.50 parking. Wildlife great, saw a Grass Snake near the toll gate. Had a good walk up to Saunton sands and back. Lovely chilled afternoon.

Woolacombe Beach is a picturesque stretch of sand located in North Devon, on the edge of the charming seaside town of Woolacombe. This three-mile long beach is renowned for its surfing waves and stunning views, surrounded by rugged cliffs and dunes. It has been consistently recognized as the UK's best beach, winning accolades from TripAdvisor for two consecutive years.
Gorgeous sandy beach & clear blue sea. Went for a paddle & it wasn't too cold actually. Last time I was here was over 30 years ago but it was still as beautiful as I remembered. Could do with a decent ice cream seller close to the beach but we found one after a short walk away from the beach. Great to see so many people enjoying the beach & the water
Ann G — Google review
What a fantastic beach we have visited a few times now and it’s become a family favorite!!! Me and my son visited for a couple of days of bodyboarding some beautiful waves we parked in the national trust car park which is free if you’re a member or £10 if not still a bargain for all day … Definitely worth a visit I can highly recommend
Lee R — Google review
My favourite beach in England. Super clean, always lots of spots available away from other beach users. Perfect for surfers, families and dog walkers.
Jessica M — Google review
Long stretch of sandy beach. It was incredibly busy entering near Sandy Bar car park but a lot quieter if you venture a few minutes away. The sea was fairly rough when we went. There is a lifeguard on duty here. There are a good selection of rock pools here too, especially towards the Barricane beach end (though difficult to know where each beach starts and ends).
Adam S — Google review
Such a beautiful and well maintained beach. Plenty of parking options if you aren’t staying locally, National Trust members can even park for free now on Marine Drive! Board and wetsuit hire available on the slipway and there are plenty of food and drinks options available there too, as well as on the beach itself. Beautiful walks along the dunes to Putsborough or in the opposite direction along the coast path to a whole range of smaller beaches.
Steph G — Google review
Brilliant beach, great lifeguards. Huge beach which is well serviced with bins and ice cream vendors. Lovely sandy beach with areas for dogs off lead, on lead, and a no dog area.
Stuart B — Google review
Lovely dog friendly beach. Just went for the 2 mile walk each way and a well deserved ice lolly at the end. Beautiful sand dunes with little lizards. Clean and child friendly. Plenty of body boarders out too.
Claire S — Google review
A beautiful, long stretch of sandy beach that's perfect for a coastal walk or relaxing day out. It was busy around the Sandy Bar car park, but if you're willing to walk just a few minutes further along the beach, it becomes much quieter and more peaceful. The sea was fairly rough during the late evening when we visited, so probably better for experienced swimmers or surfers at that time. Overall, a lovely spot with plenty of space once you move away from the main access points. Highlights: long beach, Golden sand, enough car parking (paid), some beach shops near by to rent/buy equipments.

Putsborough Beach, located in North Devon, is a popular destination for families and surfers alike. The beach offers a cafe, large-vehicle parking lot, and modern toilets for visitors' convenience. Lifeguards are available to ensure safety during the summer months when the beach sees an increase in visitors. Known for its clean breaks, the beach is ideal for both novice and experienced surfers.
Long golden sandy beach stretching from Putsborough all the way down to Woolacombe bay. This beach is dog friendly, quite and clean. You can surf here often, but there are no lifeguards. One of my favorite beaches in the world.
Becky C — Google review
Worth the parking ticket. Friendly staff in Cafe and shop. Piping hot food tasty Pasties! We really enjoyed surfing. Careful driving down.. take it slow it's a fabulous day out. Surfing rental place was good value if you want to rent a board and wet suit for 2 hours ( we didn't have lessons as we have done elsewhere amd couldnt for that in on the day) but the suana and showers were not available which was disappointing. Surfing was good fun in wet weather as you don't notice the drizzle!
Kate B — Google review
Absolutely spot on location, be careful from Croyde down the lanes mind as they are tight lol! Jurassic vybes here for sure. Great waves on the day I was here, lots of rock pooling opportunity to the far left of the beach / cliff face. My daughter loved it! Beach spotless and dramatic. Sand lovely and firm like carpet opposed to dry, deep and tiring. Resident cafe/restaurant food very good quality and plentiful for the price IMO as were the cost of gifts reasonable. Really fun day with ample parking and well worth the £14 fee. Cheap day out in hindsight with a spot of lunch for a family for 4. Would highly recommend! Lots of nice purple rocks too!! Toilets good quality, spotless and free.
Drew M — Google review
Putsborough beach is a long stretching and relaxing beach. It has both a dog and non-dog section of the beach, paid parking £8-£14 depending on time, a cafe, shop and ice cream store. There are also toilets on site. The beach can be busy but has plenty of room to find a space you are happy with. Great waves and all in all an amazing beach.

One of the most stunning beaches in the UK. Putsborough beach and Woolacombe beach are a must to visit. Plus it’s super nice that you can walk between the two and enjoy each village
Jessica M — Google review
Absolutely stunning spot. More sheltered from the SW winds than Woolacombe beach so waves better in windy conditions. Great cafe with good choice of food and drink. Sandy beach. Scrupulously clean and bonus of rocks to get changed on to keep off the sand. Best beach in the area

At low tide, expansive rock pools emerge, providing an opportunity for exploration and discovery of marine life. This area is also popular among surfers due to its excellent surfing conditions.
Lovely flat beach with plenty of space! Great for the kids for surfing lessons, really great day here!
Terry R — Google review
We Visited Croyde beach whilst staying just across the road at The Parkdean Ruda holiday park. What a lovely beach. There is a surf shop and an ice cream shop but these were never open when we visited in May and again in July. However the entrance to the beach does need some upkeep and the toilets aren’t very well kept. You almost wonder if you’ve come to the right place, but once you hit the sand dunes and get on to the beach. Just wow ! Masses of space. Very clean beautiful sand. Well marked out areas for the life guards to drive down to the water. Plenty of space for swimmers and surfers. Go for a walk when the tide is out and go to the rock pools to see what wildlife you can find. Take a kite as there is plenty of space and wind. Easy access from the main road there is a car park which charges I believe by the hour (didn’t park here as we were staying two minutes walk from the beach) We loved it here so much we would visit every day.
Simon L — Google review
Very nice sandy beach with people surfing, everyone having a lovely time. Lifeguards on patrol

Croyde Beach is absolutely stunning – one of the best beaches in North Devon! The golden sand, rolling waves, and beautiful surrounding scenery make it the perfect spot for a day out. It’s great for surfers, families, or anyone who just wants to relax and enjoy the sea air. The beach is clean and well looked after, and there are lovely coastal walks nearby with amazing views. We always feel completely refreshed after a visit. A real gem on the Devon coast! 🌊🏄‍♂️☀️

Love this place.plenty of room for all but no dogs other than in the dunes. Toilets and shop at one end. River which the kids love to play in at the other. Life guards on duty 10am to 6pm. Not a swimming type of beach as loads are bodyboarding.
Vince B — Google review
This beach is fantastic, the waves are great and the lifeguards are really on-it with safety so you feel safe in the water. We came with two young kids and it was perfect. It does get quite busy but there's always a space, even if you have to walk a bit. It can get quite windy.
Paul W — Google review
Beautiful beach with lifeguards. The rock formations on your left (facing out to sea) are stunning. There are car parks, cafes, toilets & shops all easily accessible It’s really good for surfing and body boarding as the waves are meaty. The lifeguards are on it and keep you safe. Highly recommend

Instow Beach is a dog-friendly destination that offers something for everyone. Whether you're enjoying water activities with the Instow Yacht Club, playing beach cricket, or simply relaxing on the sand, this beach provides a picturesque setting. Visitors can indulge in alfresco picnics with local delicacies from Johns of Instow and take in the sight of boats navigating the estuary. The Appledore Instow Ferry offers pleasant trips across the estuary with stunning views.
Big expanse of beach when the tide is out, very popular for walking the dogs on, lots of benches along the front, can imagine it being popular in the summer with the restaurants across from it, but it was cold and windy when we were here, still plenty of people about though.
Claire C — Google review
Lovely and quiet, dog friendly beach. Beautiful views and mobile pizza van during the evenings. Nice little place.
David P — Google review
Beautiful and long beach! Just be aware of tidal times as sea can come next to you very quickly
Gaurav G — Google review
Lovely beach, very dog friendly and loads of parking (and toilets in the car parks)
Jon B — Google review
A very popular beach due to the fact when the tide is out, its very large. The nearest car park I used was Sandhills car park, postcode EX39 4LF. Its right next to the beach. Its pay and display. Pub nearby. The beach is easy to walk on being relatively flat. Very popular with dog walkers. It faces West so great to see the sunset from. Definitely worth a visit if youre in the area.
R J — Google review
Amazing went at around 6:50 - 7:00 in the morning amazing bunch of people stunning sun 🌅
Elliott S — Google review
This beach was clean and is a lovely place to go for a peaceful walk. There is an ice van on the beach and also a pizza van in the evenings. The only downfall is due to the pollution in the water it isn’t suitable for swimming in and if you aren’t keen on dogs you probably should give this beach a miss as it is extremely popular with dog walker.
Stephen C — Google review
Instow Beach was beautiful. We took the dog for a walk along it in the evening. The tide was coming in slowly as the sun was setting. Plenty of people still out and about going for a walk with their dogs. It’s a very clean and tidy beach. Easily accessible and plenty of parking available along the road. EDITED - Added some more photos from our recent visit. The views in the evening when it’s dark are amazing!

Barricane Beach, located a few hundred meters to the east of Woolacombe, is a small and secluded beach known for its unique shell particles that have traveled all the way from the Caribbean. During the summer, visitors can explore the sands and rocks with their dogs on a lead. The beach also features a seasonal cafe that transforms into a Sri Lankan restaurant in the evenings, serving delicious curries between 5pm and 7pm.
Gorgeous beach! We visited in the evening so it was quiet. We enjoyed a stroll along the beach looking for shells.
Tracey B — Google review
Nice little cove. Sand very gritty. Went there looking for shells that apparently wash in from the Caribbean but none to be had. Little cafe there too for a drink or something to eat
Riley H — Google review
Family friendly beach. Sandy and very few rocks or shells. Loads of spaces on beach esp during low tide. Rock pooling with crabs and small fishes. Two streams of water perfect for toddlers to splash about. Two toilets within a few mins walk, plus a few shops selling beach toys and RNLI life guards during holiday season. Water is cold so need wetsuits for body boarding. My children (10 & 8) had a smashing time. We came for a long weekend and came to this beach 4 days in a row. We’ll be back!
Maria M — Google review
A gorgeous secluded beach with a fab beach cafe. I collected some beautiful little shells from here! Great parking on the road above, although the maximum stay is only 4 hours!
Karen P — Google review
Absolutely beautiful and great fun for all the family, including dogs🙂 Paddle boarding is good but can't go too far as the current will potentially drag you towards the rocks. When the tide is out the rocks are great for exploring. Lots of rock pools, shells etc. Beautiful scenery. Definitely recommend.
Lisa W — Google review
Really lovely little beach and nicer than visiting all of the busier bigger beaches. There is a small takeaway cafe down there with sandwiches and other things. The rock formations down here and very picturesque and fun to walk and climb around. Definitely worth a visit. You can park on the road above if you manage to find a space otherwise you will need to walk a short while to get there.
Holly O — Google review
Such a wonderful small and quiet beach! I came here with my friends to search for sea glass. We found some creatures like crabs in the rock pools. The cafe seems nice, we wanted to try the curry but did not have time that day - but from what I heard from others sounds fantastic! I have always prefered this kind of pebble beach compared to sand beach but it will depend on your prefrence.

Fantastic beach with rock pools and it's is also sandy, just down the road from the much more busy Woolacombe beach. It's does have steep stairs to go down and parking is very limited. Woolcomeb shops are around 10 min walk.

Dune
Nestled just two miles from the stunning Saunton Sands, Braunton Burrows is a remarkable sand dune system that boasts an impressive array of rare and diverse flora and fauna. This privately owned expanse is not only one of the largest in the UK but also serves as a National Nature Reserve within the UNESCO-designated North Devon Biosphere Reserve. The area exemplifies a harmonious blend of nature and human activity, making it an ideal spot for families, dog owners, and surfers alike.
Beautiful plus historic. I suggest you read about its history. Be careful if walking across it during rainy seasons because large areas, the slacks (valleys) become flooded and many paths can be submerged. People can become disoriented as they search for alternative routes back to the carpark! You can use Google maps on your smartphone to help find a way back.
B — Google review
Local car park has a coffee hut but no toilets, its around a 15 - 20 minutes walk to the start of the sand dunes which were absolutely beautiful. My little boy loved it! We didn't get to the beach as we had somewhere ro be so not sure how much further it was but quite a challenging walk once your on the dunes. Other than that its a flat and easy walk

Visited concrete mock landing craft which were used to practice beach landings, Lovely bike ride but was difficult to find them.

What an amazing place, yet, how generous of some dog walkers to leave their special gifts as tokens of their visit to share with others specially wrapped in plastic bags, or alternatively just left for you to tread in, please see attached photos :(. What is going on inside the head of someone who does this on a site of special scientific interest? Might be an idea for someone to instal doggy bags and waste bin? Must be one of the rudest things you can deliberately do to a beautiful nature site. Selfishness on steroids. PLEASE REMOVE YOUR DOG'S WASTE AND HAVE SOME RESPECT!

Nestled atop a cliff along the rugged Atlantic coastline, Combesgate Beach offers breathtaking views that stretch towards Hartland Point and Lundy Island. This charming, secluded beach is just a short stroll from Barricane Beach and is perfect for families looking to explore rock pools or build sandcastles away from the crowds. While access involves navigating a long flight of steps—making it less ideal during high tide—the golden sands beckon on sunny days for leisurely walks or delightful picnics.
Can't go wrong with any beach in this area, gorgeous
Steve W — Google review
Really loved this beach compared to some of the bigger busier beaches near here. Parking is a bit of a pain so you will have to walk a bit to get there but it's definitely worth it. We went in the evening and had the whole beach to ourselves as nobody else was there. Its a good beach also for sea glass hunting! Be aware that it is quite a few steps down to the beach so not suitable for those who can't walk much as they might struggle.
Holly O — Google review
Very clean, tucked away beach by the watersmeet Hotel. Tucked away and great for dogs. Very clean as are the rest of the beaches around here. Good for rock pooling and other activities. Lots of space at low tide and normally very quiet.
Olly S — Google review
This is by far the nicest place I have been in the UK! When the tide is out you can access the beach by the steps (so unfortunately no good for anyone with mobility problems) Once the seas out it leaves lots of little rock pools, some up to your thigh and the water is perfectly clear. Because of the rocks you can get a bit of privacy pretty much all around the edges. Beautiful beach, perfect for all, we thoroughly enjoyed exploring the rock pools, jumping the waves and building sandcastles. We will certainly be back!!
Jo B — Google review
Lovely beach with lots of nooks and coves to explore and discover. Good for surfing and bodyboarding as well as a normal beach day. Accessible at low tide via steps or from Woolacombe beach. 10/10 beach
Alex M — Google review
Lovely quiet beach even on the first weekend of Easter half term. Loads of room on the sand when the tide is out.

Awesome beach for surfing and rock pooling. Very quiet compared to the organised Woolacombe Beach. Only drawback is no dogs allowed!

Lovely and great for looking for sea life in the rock pools.

Putsborough Sands Caravan Park is located in the area of Woolacombe, offering three miles of golden sands perfect for surfing and leisurely walks. The beach is known for its small rock pools, making it an ideal spot for families with children. Putsborough Sands also features a beach cafe and surf school, providing convenience and entertainment for visitors. With its clear waters and beautiful surf, the beach attracts both locals and tourists seeking a quieter wave.
Just had a fabulous week at Putsborough Sands caravan park. Can’t fault this location at all, so handy to be able to pop down to the beach whenever you want and not have to take the car. Yes the showers are on the farm campsite but it’s just a 10 minute walk away. Site is small and quiet, perfect for relaxing. Only recommendation would be a card/sticker that you could put in the car so you didn’t have to tell the gatehouse each time you drive in that you are staying in the campsite.
LM A — Google review
Great little caravan site! Quiet with stunning views. Ball games, bikes, scooters etc. Are not allowed, as this keeps things calm and quiet, but as the beach is right next to you this isn't a problem. Coastle path for a lovely walk to baggy point/croyde. Dogs are also allowed. We have two children and they just spend the whole time playing with the other kids on the site, they love it. As it's so small and safe you're not worried, and most people are happy to keep an eye on each other's children. There is a toilet block on site and showers and laundry facilities up at the farm. So nice to be able to sit up away from the masses when it's busy, but still have the view. And just pop down to the beach as and when without having to take your kitchen sink with you.
Leanne — Google review
One of, if not The most expensive places to park at the beach in north Devon. However its also arguably the prettiest beach in north Devon too. Steps or a slope down to the golden sands. A well known spot for surfing and often more sheltered with waves that are less hard breaking than nearby Croyde, and which break closer to the shore than Saunton. A massive beach as the tide drops out, means there is always space to be found. The beach cafe perched halfway down the cliff can become overwhelmed on busy days, but that's not surprising. There is now a resident surf school on site.
Ian W — Google review
Well worth the money!, great cafe, great beach can't ask for more

A wonderful caravan site. We have stayed twice and will do so again. Rob really looks after you, he even pitched our van for us. The views are second to none of the best beach in England.

Parks
Northam Burrows Country Park is a vast semi-wild landscape featuring grassy plains, marshes, and sand dunes. It offers diverse habitats for wildlife across its 250 hectares. Visitors can explore the park through walking, cycling, or horse riding along its many trails. The park also features a golf course, playground, and a cafe for families to enjoy.
Very nice place to visit with or without a furry friend. Great views out to sea or across the estuary to Burton Burrows. There is a lovely cafe near to the main car park. Look out for the golf balls while walking. While walking you can walk from Westward Ho! all the way to Northam and Appledore, on land or on the beach when the tide is out.
Bruce S — Google review
Stunning vistas, Golden sand, a spectacular pebble ridge and easy parking. There's also a very good café. RNLI keep everything safe too.
Shaun P — Google review
Lovely beach, easy to park and no cost in the winter. If you head for the far end of the beach when the tide is out it's lovely and quiet. Not good for those with restricted mobility as most ways onto the beach involve crossing the pebble ridge, but fine if you just want the burrows. Horses and sheep roam free, loads of picnic benches and places to sit.
Sarah C — Google review
Great walk and relatively flat. The visitor centre was a welcome pitstop for coffee and cake.
Angela A — Google review
Dog friendly beach, good cafe with a great selection served by wonderful, friendly staff. The only issue is the cost of parking. It is one fee, £8, however long you stay. You can come and go during the day as much as you want on the same ticket but if you only plan on staying for a short while be aware of the cost.
Paul S — Google review
Beautiful place. The diversity of nature is breathtaking. Car parking staff are so helpful

Loved it. So wonderful to see the entire area looked after so well. Nature and modernisation go hand in hand, golfing with sheep and horses! The sea and the views were magnificent. Do bring a waterproof jacket that keeps the blustery wind out and water to wash your feet if you're planning to head to the beach for a stroll.

Great country park just North of Westward Ho! Free parking and also close to the beach (just got to tackle the large pebble barrier thing!) Westward Ho! Beach is a spacious seaside destination with dog-friendly areas and a nearby park. It's an ideal spot for kiteboarding, offering challenges for intermediate riders and two miles of breaking waves for freestyle kiteboarding. The beach faces westward into Bideford Bay and is popular among surfers, swimmers, kayakers, and paddle boarders.
A fantastic beach with plenty of space to play or walk. It's a pity it's becoming so built up with high rise buildings and entertainment facilities, but it brings tourism to the area, which is a good thing. The Burrows and beach are stunning though and the North coast is something to be treasured

Beautiful sandy beach.... just got to climb over rocks to get to it, or walk to the lifeguard hut and there is a walkway down. Tide goes out a very long way. Very flet beach so the waters edge stays shallow for long way, ideal for children.

Great beach. Good resource food, drink, equivalent and toilets are close by if you do a spur of the moment trip. Try the shop further away from the main beach to get abetter deals on equipment and clothes. Thw Tide does come i. Showroom fast which is cool too see. Not so cool when you misread the waves. Clean beach with a lot of parking close to or 5 minutes walk to. Genuinely one of the best active beach I have been to.

Baggy Point National Trust Car Park offers stunning views of Saunton and the opportunity to follow the cliff path to Putsborough. The South West Coast Path meets Exmoor National Park, providing exceptional flora and fauna. Nearby starting points like Heddons Mouth, Woody Bay, and Valley of The Rocks are perfect for hikes or picnics. Croyde car park is centrally located in the village with access to Croyde beach.
Love this place, I don't remember the path being so close to the cliff edge though! Walked around the headland with my dog and back to the car park in an hour. Fantastic views of the coastline. As the headland sticks out it gives you a real feeling of being at one with nature and the elements. Look down onto cliffs with birds nesting or walk along the coastal path. I parked in the NT car park and remember no short period parking, I had to pay the full amount for the day which I think was around £7. Hopefully there are better places to park!

JAN H — Google review
Great free parking for NT members with a reasonably priced tearoom close by. The changing rooms/toilets were clean and had hot water but no soap. Brilliant location for the beach, plenty of rock pools for the kids and coastal pathway access.Slightly hairy road to get to it but hey, everything in this part of the world is an adventure when driving. I'd suggest coming into Croyde from the south as road fairly wide(B3231) rather than the easterly approach on the B3343 which at points is very narrow and meeting other cars a test on your spatial awareness!

Rockham Beach, situated near Combe Martin Beach Holiday Park, is a tranquil and unspoilt coastal gem that offers an abundance of rockpools to captivate children for extended periods. This hidden paradise boasts an enchanting shipwreck and intertidal pools teeming with captivating anemones. However, it is essential to exercise caution as these marine creatures can inflict stinging sensations on vulnerable body parts such as the legs and torso.
Accessible if you’re confident to descend on the cliffs. Seems a few people managed it whilst we were there, but the NT steps were no longer viable. Seems a great beach from the viewpoint above.
Livy K — Google review
Amazingly beautiful place. As you walk down the stairs there is a waterfall to your right. The rocks are perfect for exploring and climbing as the tide goes out, but be warned; the tide turns quickly.

Beautiful place to do some kayaking or SUP. High tide is quite dramatic on the beach, so would recommend doing activities one hour either side so you get access back to the beach. Nearby Sandy Cove is a great place to paddle to. Rental shop is by car park. Gift shop up the road is incredible with food and drink options and gifts.

Wonderful trip drove down to Lee's bay. We loved Rock pools but slippery shoes almost caused incident. Highly recommended welly boots or water sport shoes which can step on the slippery seaweed stones. Limited car parking be aware the narrow road as well.

Do NOT drive down here if you’re in a van, an absolute nightmare of a road and then there is literally nowhere to park once you get there. The village is cute I guess but not worth the stress, and the bay is mediocre at best. Do not recommend.

Great for families and dog walkers and I would recommend taking a picnic/packed lunch if you are spending the day there.
