Beale St is a renowned street in Memphis, known for its vibrant nightlife and live music scene. It's lined with funky hangouts, bars, cafes, galleries, and restaurants. The street has a rich history as the home of the blues and continues to be the city's epicenter of music. Visitors can enjoy street performers and explore the brick-lined thoroughfare that has been a cultural hub for over a century.
Enjoyed walking down Beale Street ,kinda like our Bourbon Street but smaller and cleaner .

It was okay, nothing exciting, but was also there on a Thursday night so I'm sure that makes a difference. I do recommend going and experiencing it though! Plenty of places to pop in have a drink or something to eat as well.

Ok for a Tuesday night. Places to see some history but mostly just shopping and bars.

When the music is NOT playing the streets are pretty empty. Go late and plan to wander the main drag. As with any city full of tourists, just be aware of your surroundings.

After our Graceland tour we decided to hit Beale Street. Highlight was stopping into BB King’s Blues Bar and listening to live music. The food was good and the ribs were the best I’d had.

Nature & Parks
Shelby Farms Park, located on the eastern edge of Memphis, spans 4,500 acres and offers a wide range of outdoor activities. Visitors can explore biking and horse trails, go fishing or boating in the park's numerous bodies of water, and enjoy playgrounds for kids. The park is five times larger than Central Park in NYC and provides ample opportunities for walking, jogging, biking, and even horseback riding. Additionally, visitors can rent paddle boats to cruise around the lake.
I can’t even begin to explain how wonderful this park is. The natural scenery and landscapes are truly breathtaking. There are plenty of spaces to exercise, run, and play, including a great playground for kids, plus a restaurant and rental areas for family and friends to gather. Our experience with the kids was fantastic, and we’re looking forward to returning whenever possible!
Giselle P — Google review
I recently took my baby girl to Shelby Farms Park, and we had a really great time! The park is absolutely beautiful and full of space to explore. The playground area is fun, colorful, and perfect for younger kids my daughter had the best time. Watching her smile and enjoy herself made the whole trip more than worth it. That said, it was very packed when we went. It’s clearly a popular spot, especially on nice days. One downside was that some parents weren’t really watching their kids, and a few children were being pretty rough and playing in a way that didn’t feel very safe for the younger ones. I definitely had to keep a closer eye on my daughter than expected. Still, the park itself is amazing there’s so much to do, from walking trails to open fields and the lake. If you’re looking for a fun, active day with your kids, Shelby Farms is a great place to go. Just be prepared for crowds during peak hours, and keep an eye out if your little one is still small or just learning their way around. Tip: Try going earlier in the morning or on a weekday if you want to avoid the bigger crowds. All in all, a great experience for us and we’ll definitely be going back!

Wanted to find a place to walk after dinner. Some areas with water access and pavilions were very busy. Many roads and outlets so even with the Google map, it was hard to know the layout of the area. We wanted to find a quieter area. Did find one that was by Go Ape Zipline & Adventure Park. At first we did not know what it was, but cool to see treehouse like structures and rope bridges above us. Bridge was out on one trail there, but alternate trails have splits in the trails. Did help a gentleman and his wife find their car keys.

I’ve been twice so far. The first time was a date with my partner. After the first time, I started bird watching. The last time, my son and I enjoyed a day out. Just look at the beautiful photo of the sunset. We discovered an entire new section with chairs and fans. I had the best time with him.

Absolutely love this park! Was visiting the area and took my dog walking every morning around the lake- very beautiful at sunrise 🧡💛❤️

My husaband and I celebrated our 10th anniversary at Shelby Farms Park this past weekend. We drove 3 1/2 hours from Lebanon, TN to experience some of the fun, outdoor experiences that the farm offers. We brought our ebikes and hit the bike trails immediately after our arrival on Friday morning the 17th and it was just amazing! We left the park to check in our hotel room to make our 5pm dinner reservastion at the Coastal Fish Co. restaurnat and I must say even though we weren't able to get a patio table, we still eneded up with window seating which allowed us to see right out to the lake and witness the beautiful sun set. So with the ambiance and great food, we had a great anniversary celebration with professional sevice from our waiter, Bryan. Saturday, was part 2 of our SFP experience. I surprised my husband with a one private horse back ride. The weather could not have been more perfect! We were led on the trail by one of best trail leaders ever, Laura or Lady (nickname). It was our first time riding and I shared with Laura that I was "low-key" freaking out. lol! but Laura encouraged me and promised I would relax within several minutes and she was absolutely right! The ride was so peaceful and enjoyable and capped off our anniversary time at the park!
Wendy C — Google review
It is a place where our dogs and us are enjoying a lot. A very very large dog park with several ponds, dogs have fun in the waters, playing games and interacting with other dogs. The main park has different sceneries with long miles of trails in the woods and around the lake for walkers and byciclists. Many people are there but you don't feel congested or crowded. GoApe is onsite as well added more activity to do in the park.

Graceland, the famed estate of Elvis Presley, is a popular destination for fans and history enthusiasts alike. The mansion offers tours and exhibits, including a car museum and two jets. Visitors can spend as little as an hour or a whole day exploring the estate's various attractions. The mansion itself reflects Elvis' personal style, with unique decor choices like the iconic Jungle Room where he recorded an album.
Absolutely fascinating. If you have any interesting in recent history and pop culture Graceland is a must visit once location. The house itself is a moment in time preserved for history. I paid extra for tickets to see the planes and it was well worth it. By today’s standards everything is quite modest but you absolutely come away with a sense of Elvis. It is a reminder of his talent.: The family cemetery was incredible moving whilst the galley of his costumes and display of his cars was really fun. Only thing I felt was strange was the darker side of his life was very much brushed over! The site is very well maintained and staff are friendly and passionate about Elvis.
Sarah — Google review
Really great experience. Very well staffed and maintained and it was very quiet when we visited! The house itself is lovely. The grounds are beautiful and it's very special to stand by Elvis' grave. Highly recommended. The car collection was amazing - really liked the Pink Cadillac! And don't miss out on the planes! Excellent. Thank You, Thank You very much!
Nicky H — Google review
Graceland is a spot you can't miss. There are two parts to it, the "grounds" and the Mansion. The mansion is a quick walk through of Elvis' home and can see virtually every spot, minus the bathrooms and private bedrooms. It also takes you through the property to see the pool, recording studios, offices, and even the Graves of Elvis, his parents, Lisa Marie, and Benjamin. The grounds part is all his car and motorcycle collections, memorabilia and ither rock n roll fame history. There were plenty of stuff to help guide you through every building. We only had two hours to see everything and was plenty of time to see it all. However, I would suggest 3-4 to really engage yourself with the experience.

Visiting Graceland in Memphis was a day I will never forget! I’m so glad I planned ahead. I bought my tickets weeks in advance to secure an early morning entry, and it was absolutely worth it. Arriving before the big crowds made the tour feel extra peaceful and serene. It's easy to understand why Elvis cherished his time here so much. Even the horse on the property was the calmest I’ve ever seen, adding to the tranquil atmosphere. The mansion itself is incredible. Every room is unique, showcasing Elvis’s one of a kind style and personal design choices. It’s fascinating to see how much of the decor was customized to his vision. The Meditation Garden was especially moving..beautiful, quiet, and the resting place where Elvis and his family are buried together. Photos are allowed throughout most of the visit though video is not permitted. The upstairs remains closed for privacy. Beyond the mansion, the experience continues with Elvis's plane, auto exhibition, multiple restaurants, museums, and shops filled with an incredible variety of Elvis memorabilia. The merchandising is top notch, there truly is something for every fan! I especially loved the Christmas ornaments! Graceland isn’t just a tourist attraction it’s an enduring tribute. The King’s presence is everywhere, and his legend truly lives on!!
How L — Google review
For any die hard Elvis fan this is a must. Absolutely everything to do with Elvis Presley you can see it here. The exhibits are brilliant and well put together. There is a lot of walking but worth it. Did realise how many stage costumes he owned. Exciting to be able to basically be able to walk in his shoes visiting the house he lived and climbing on board his own private jet.
Sandy — Google review
⭐️ Graceland – The Home of Elvis Presley 👑🎸 I booked my tour in advance — they have shuttles taking guests from the visitor center to the mansion. Just a short 3-minute ride and you’re there — and wow, the moment you arrive you feel the history! The house is amazing — from the elegant living room to the famous Jungle Room 🌴, the kitchen, and even the basement gym. Everything looks just like Elvis left it — a real time capsule of the King’s life. Outside you’ll find the beautiful Meditation Garden 🕊️ with Elvis’s grave and his family’s resting place — peaceful and emotional. After the mansion tour, the shuttle takes you back to explore the car museum 🚗 — including the legendary pink Cadillac, his Mercedes, motorcycles, gold records, and so much more! 🎶 Every corner tells a story — Graceland is not just a museum, it’s pure American music history. 📍 A must-visit in Memphis — worth every minute! 💡 Tip: Book early and go in the morning — less crowded and perfect lighting for photos! 📸✨

Visited for Mother’s Day Weekend 2023 I went to Graceland with my mother-in-law for Mother’s Day Weekend 2023, and the experience was absolutely worth it. This is one of those places you don’t truly understand until you’re standing in it. The home, the memorabilia, the décor, and the history all feel frozen in time, and you can see exactly how Elvis lived — not just the celebrity side, but the personal side. We toured the inside of the mansion, and every room is something different to look at. The Jungle Room, the living room, the trophy room, and the hall of gold records were unbelievable. You really feel the amount of work he put into his music and his life. The gardens were peaceful and well-kept, and visiting the meditation garden and gravesites was emotional and respectful. It’s quiet, beautiful, and a place you naturally slow down and take in. The staff kept things moving, and the grounds were clean and organized even though there were plenty of visitors. There’s a lot to see, so take your time — we took tons of photos because there’s no way to describe everything without them. If you're a lifelong Elvis fan or even just someone who appreciates American music history, Graceland is one of those bucket-list places you should see at least once. It was a memorable experience for both of us, and I’m glad we did it together for Mother’s Day. Highly recommend.

It's pricier than your average museum but worth it! Elvis was before my time but my father loved his music and played it when I was little. Elvis liked white leather and gold, he had great taste. Look to spend about 2 to 3 hours here. Parking was $10 and base admission for adults is $85.50.

Mud Island is a small peninsular area in the middle of the Mississippi River, offering a variety of attractions for visitors. The island features a public park, history museum, restaurants, and an amphitheater. Visitors can reach the island by taking a tram that was featured in the film 'The Firm.' Once there, they can explore the Mississippi River Museum with its 17 galleries and a scale replica of the river.
This place is amazing!!! Kind of deserted and overgrown but still has lights and bins so somewhat attended to. The walk bridge is only open from 7-7- got out at 6:46- don’t get stuck on the bridge. There’s an abandoned monorail for Simpson’s fans and plenty of algae in the flooded pool for the sturdy of stomach. The Mississippi River map in the ground was beautiful and a must for those into brutalist design.
Molly M — Google review
This is a neat place, especially the scale of the Mississippi River on-site. Wish they’d fill it back with water. This place could really be something again if they’d decide to maintain it. The monorail is closed, museum is closed so you walk over the footbridge to the site and explore on your own. Wasted opportunity for Memphis imo, not sure if it’s used at all anymore for anything fun or constructive.

We were in town for 2 days and walked over one morning from our hotel I really liked the little island and it was very peaceful and beautiful.back home in England but I have great memories from my trip...thank you memphis
Gazza L — Google review
It's a shame this area is a little run down..it seems unloved. We had a walk over the bridge one morning passing an abandoned monorail. The scale model of the Mississipi river was an interesting talking point for us. Had our picture taken with the large iconic Memphis sign. Had a wonder around but not much else to do but im glad we made the effort.
Sandy — Google review
Only came to take pics by the Memphis sign which it was a needle and a haystack to find! Well it’s definitely not something you can see from the parking lot, you have to pay to park in the lot I went to (and please pay because when I pulled in there was a woman in a company truck patrolling the lot taking pics of folks license plates which I’m not sure how they can tell who paid or not because it’s not like you received a receipt or anything to place on your dash… Once you park there’s about a 8-10 minute walk before you actually reach the sign. Thanks to the Bass Pro pyramid we saw the Memphis sign perfectly so it was easy to hop in the car and drive to the location. Once the sign was located we had a picnic because the weather was nice. I highly recommend for a photo shoot

Mud Island ended up being a day trip for us on the way to Nashville. While the tram was not open that day we REALLY enjoyed the walk across the bridge and then following the Mississippi River all the way to the Gulf of Mexico on the island. It gave our kiddos insight into how large the river is, towns along its path and the topography of the river. This was a great blend of learning and fun that our family loved.

The Stax Museum of American Soul Music is a tribute to the iconic Stax Records and the soul music genre. Housed in the original location of Stax Records, it features a replica recording studio and rotating exhibits that narrate the history of soul music. The museum showcases a real Mississippi Delta church from 1906, reconstructed inside the building, as well as an exact replica of Studio A where Stax artists recorded their hits.
Full disclosure: I danced about architecture (a.k.a. wrote about musicians) for a quarter century or so. On a music-history tour, had stopped at RCA's Studio B, Sun Records, and then pulled up to Stax. In my previous life, actually had the pleasure of interviewing Isaac Hayes for a San Francisco-based entertainment magazine called The Wave (long gone). Was so looking forward to this. It was everything I'd hoped and more. Everyone working there was friendly, the guides were informative, and the displays were staggering. The soundboards and master recordings. Ike and Tina Turner's stagewear. Albert and B.B. King's guitars. Various mementos from Jim Stewart and Estelle Axton. Isaac Hayes's desk and gold-plated car. Steve Cropper's Telecaster guitar, Donald "Duck" Dunn's Precision bass, Al Jackson Jr.'s Rogers drum kit. Loving the rich history, appreciative of the soul. Kid in a candy store, I am.

Stax Museum – A Soulful Journey Through Music History The Stax Museum in Memphis is an absolute gem for music lovers and history buffs alike. From the moment you step inside, you're immersed in the rich legacy of soul music and the incredible artists who shaped it. The museum is beautifully curated, with interactive exhibits, rare memorabilia, and a recreated recording studio that brings the spirit of Stax Records to life. The atmosphere is both reverent and vibrant — you can feel the passion and creativity that defined the Stax sound. Highlights include Isaac Hayes’ gold-plated Cadillac, vintage instruments, and powerful stories of how music intersected with civil rights and culture. It’s not just a museum; it’s a celebration of soul, resilience, and artistic brilliance. Whether you're a lifelong fan of soul or just discovering it, the Stax Museum offers an unforgettable experience that stays with you long after you leave.

This was a great museum to visit in Memphis! The security guard was the nicest gentlemen ever. We showed up right before close and he encouraged us to come back the next day but let us look at the gift shop for a bit. I learned quite a bit and overall truly enjoyed it.

Really great video to start the tour and informative information and about artists and about artifacts all through the museum and a nice store at the end with music to sell very good tour. I would recommend coming if you’re in Memphis. If they had one CD with all the hit songs, that would be a great offer

What an amazing place to visit! The Stax Museum of American Soul Music is a true gem. From the moment you walk in, you're transported through the history of soul music with incredible exhibits, artifacts, and stories that bring the genre to life. The attention to detail is remarkable, and the atmosphere is electric. It’s a powerful and moving experience that’s a must-see for music lovers and anyone interested in a vital part of American history. I can't recommend it enough!

Incredible museum! Great exhibits and curation, a great place to appreciate and learn about amazing music, musicians, and culture. If you’re a music lover, it’s a must see! Sights & Landmarks
Elmwood Cemetery, established in 1852, is a historic landmark in Memphis with picturesque grounds adorned with monuments and mature trees. It serves as the final resting place for over 75,000 individuals, including Confederate soldiers and veterans, Union generals, author Shelby Foote, and victims of a yellow fever outbreak. The cemetery offers guided tours but visitors are also welcome to explore on their own.
We didn’t go too far into the cemetery, but what we did see was so cool! We had a wedding in the chapel right near the entrance. It was a smaller venue but it was just the right size for our group. It was unique and beautiful. I would highly recommend checking it out if you love history and well-kept grounds!

⭐️ Elmwood Cemetery – A Peaceful Yet Mysterious Memphis Landmark I heard about Elmwood Cemetery and decided to visit — and it truly exceeded expectations. The cemetery is huge and filled with historic and beautifully crafted monuments dating back to the 1800s. Despite its age, the grounds are well-maintained, clean, and peaceful. There’s something mystical about walking (or driving) through the long lanes surrounded by ancient trees and stunning stone sculptures — it almost feels like being on a movie set. 🎬 You can drive through the marked roads, stop to take photos, and enjoy the quiet atmosphere. Free parking is available at the entrance, along with clean restrooms. Entrance is free and open to the public. #Memphis #ElmwoodCemetery #HistoricSites #HiddenGems #TravelUSA #HistoryLovers

This true Victorian garden style cemetery holds veterans of all American wars, madams, outlaws, senators, mayors, and people from all walks of life, including 1400 unidentified souls of the 5000 who died in Memphis during the yellow fever epidemic. We did the best we could to see as much as we could, but it is a multi-day adventure. Not to be missed if you come to Memphis and are interested in such things. Spectacular.

I’ve been to a lot of cemeteries, but this one is special. It’s not too overwhelmingly large, it’s just the right size. The gravestones and the trees and surroundings are beautiful, especially right now in the fall time. My family and I went for a walk this Sunday afternoon, and it was extremely peaceful. I highly recommend going here to anyone who enjoys nature and walking among those at rest.

Great place to visit, particularly those who like cemeteries. Interesting sites, many different. Lots of great trees. Can walk through area. Nice in cool days or a good breeze. Several markers with historical information too

I cannot say enough of how beautiful and full of history and culture Elwood Cemetery is. There is a guided tour you can download on your phone and take at any time but they have tours on Saturdays and other dates all through out the year check their website before going there. If you like history you will love this place!

The grounds are always kept so nice and clean. It is 80 acres, so you can get lost looking for your loved ones. There are people buried from the early 1850.

The history of how memphis started. If you know where to look it’s the good, the bad, and everything else. You have to come at least once a season and just walk around a section. Stories everywhere. Great tours audio and guided. Many special events to choose from. Come be a part of memphis history and if the bell rings, we’ll good news it’s not for you! Just step aside and be respectful. 😅 great place for nature and photos. I would simply bring concern to some of the long term upkeep. There seems to be a lot of damage from tractors etc, one section is falling into the interstate, and I don’t see maintenance on those, it’s actually more common in some of the newer section.

The National Civil Rights Museum is a powerful and emotional site that commemorates the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at the Lorraine Motel in 1968. The museum offers a comprehensive look at the civil rights movement, featuring exhibits on key figures and events leading up to King's assassination. Visitors can explore the motel where King stayed, as well as the boarding house where his assailant, James Earl Ray, was situated.
Amazing experience! If you truly want to learn about the struggle the black and other minority experienced in the US, this is the place learn it and educate yourself. You won't truly know what it feels like but you can at least see it through the lens of this we'll curated museum. They displayed every endeavours and every battles experienced by the black community and every activist that played a vital role in improving their lives and the future generations. And struggle still continues to this day. Come to the museum to learn!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis is one of the most powerful and moving places I have ever visited. It’s hard to fully understand the depth of certain tragedies unless you lived through them or felt their lasting impact in your daily life. I lived through the tragic murder of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and the ripple effects of that loss remain with me to this day. Walking through this museum, I was reminded of that painful moment in history while also inspired by the strength and courage of those who fought for justice. The exhibits are laid out with great care and detail, telling the story of the Civil Rights Movement from slavery through the 1960s and beyond. Standing at the Lorraine Motel, looking at the balcony where Dr. King took his final steps, was overwhelming. It is both heartbreaking and humbling. The museum does more than present history—it makes you feel it. The powerful visuals, personal stories, and authentic atmosphere ensure that every visitor leaves with a deeper understanding of the fight for equality. This museum is a must-visit for all generations, a place of learning, reflection, and hope for the future.

I am very thankful to have been able to visit here with my family! The amount of underlining love that seemed to surround this area as well as a bit of sadness in the air being so close to where Dr. King's life was ended from such a cowardly act of hate is so surreal. The museum was very informative and reflected our history well.
Taylor H — Google review
Wow. Beautifully constructed, my only complaint was WOW that was a lot to read. (As a reader, that is a good thing!) But I didn’t have nearly enough time. If you wanted to truly learn and read everything in there, it would take you 5hrs to get through. So plan accordingly. There is a large free parking lot half a block from the museum, so that was lovely. Staff was INCREDIBLE! So friendly, polite, and answered any questions I had.

This is an absolute **must-do in Memphis**. Visiting the National Civil Rights Museum was a powerful and emotional experience. It’s incredibly educational and eye-opening — walking through the exhibits truly makes you reflect on the strength, courage, and sacrifices of those who fought for equality. You can feel the history in every part of the museum, and it’s both heartbreaking and inspiring at the same time. I left with a deeper sense of gratitude and respect for the movement and for those who paved the way. Everyone should visit this museum at least once in their lifetime.
Danitrice L — Google review
The National Civil Rights Museum is very well organized. I liked that it started with information about life in Africa pre-enslavement and that there was an introductory video prior to visitors entering the full exhibit. There was plenty of information on display from various time periods including the Jim Crow era, the bus boycott, sit ins, integration of schools, the Black Power movement, etc.
Keithia T — Google review
Excellent place to visit to see the world at that time in the country fighting for civil rights. History that needs to be taught in school to understand what it was like as people of color fought and died for to have basic human rights. Very informative highly recommended if you are in the Memphis area.

The place is very well maintained and clean. But museum is horrible, there is too much text with random information and people with no lead, it is impossible to follow and learn anything, apart from random facts maybe.

From the museum and majestic trees to golf - Overton Park brings it all together. The free concerts are so much fun! And what an honor to gather where Elvis had his first public gig. I come here often to explore. Love the trails! It's great to see how active Memphians are here.

Overton Park is a beautiful park in a very nice part of town. It has lots of walking, jogging, and backing paths through full trees. Some of the paths are paved, and others not, but all are clearly marked. The park also has great playgrounds, dog parks, and golf course. The memphis zoo and an art museum are also located here.

This was an awesome zoo. My wife loves zoos and we see a lot of them. The facility was impressive and well maintained. The enclosures are very state of the art and do justice to the natural habitat of the animals. The price was very reasonable and they have price reciprocal agreement with A.Z.A. zoo memberships.

The complex offers an array of dining options such as Mama Gaia and Farm Burger for lunch and Muddy's Bake Shop in East Memphis for delectable desserts.
This is the old Sears building from the 1930s. Memphis got a federal grant 160 million to recondition the building and the surrounding community. It has high-rise apartments for young professionals who want to live in the downtown area. Restaurants and bars in the bottom have of the building, a gym, a health care facility, a brewery, and even an FM terrestrial radio station. Very nice mixed-use venue in Memphis. There is plenty of seating and outlets, making it a great place to do some remote work or just chill out. There are places to get coffee, sweet treats, and even meals if you desire. There is paid parking on the premises and plenty of it as well. I came here and worked remote and it was quiet enough to do that, including teleconferencing with no interference. Great spot and I will return.

Small museum on a picturesque setting. Blown away by the display on currently. Loved the intricate designs. They also have a Forging studio where they create large sculptures for the city to small repairs of iron work for locals.

Best field trip ever! Our Artist group booked a 24K Gold tour. Worth every penny. We had a guided tour of the collection and grounds and then went to the foundry where each of us made an aluminum tile. This was a fascinating process and we each created our own keepsake of this memorable visit. The tour needs to be booked and paid ahead of time and you must have at least 4 people in the group. The Dixon Gallery & Gardens, established in 1976, is a unique combination of an art museum and beautifully landscaped gardens in Memphis. The museum features permanent collections of Impressionist and post-Impressionist art, while the surrounding 17 acres offer a stunning botanical park. The venue also hosts events such as wedding receptions and rehearsal dinners, with facilities like the Hughes Pavilion and Winegardner Auditorium available for various functions.
WONDERFUL!! What a jewel of the city. I came here with my daughter on a federal holiday and there happen to not be many people here. We came when they had a special train themed art exhibit and it was sensational. The Dixon does a fabulous job of spacing the art along with the incredible descriptions. In addition, there are several other exhibits such as an extensive porcelain collection of fine china (600 pieces) which was beautiful. We were very impressed and will be returning.

Dixon Gallery & Gardens is one of my all time favorite places in Memphis. The gallery is always a nice experience, and the gardens are exquisite. There are quiet spots to experience some zen, and the lawn is always great for a picnic or an event. We recently attended Symphony in the Garden for Mother’s Day and had a fantastic time! Would absolutely attend again. The Dixon remaining Free for Good is also such a service to the community, helping Memphis keep arts & culture accessible for all!

The Dixon Gallery & Gardens is a beautiful destination for a day trip with family and friends, offering to be immersed in artwork and peaceful outdoor spaces. Stroll through a well-kept flower garden that leads into a shaded trail, perfect for enjoying fresh air and nature with loved ones. I recommend setting aside 2–3 hours to explore both the indoor art galleries and the flower garden and trail. The gardens are immaculate—ideal for taking family portraits or just a serene escape from the city. Inside, you’ll find two main painting galleries: a temporary gallery which currently features the Susan Watkins collection from the Chrysler Museum of Art and the permanent oil paintings collection. I especially enjoyed the works of Susan Watkins, a highly regarded painter from San Francisco. Housed in a beautifully preserved colonial manor, the Dixon Gallery & Gardens stands out as my top choice for its blend of art, history, and natural beauty. Best of all, admission is free, and there’s plenty of parking. Enjoy your trip to Dixon!

This place is located in a cemetery. It is a man made cave. It is free to go. There is not a lot of parking as parking is on the side of the road inside of the cemetery. The cave depicts the life of Jesus. There is an actual shrine to Jesus as you walk in and people leave money there but if you don’t want to participate in that you don’t have to. You can walk around this small cave and get a glimpse into Jesus’ life. It is a cave and there is no A/C so it is hot in the summer and has an interesting smell. But overall, it’s a great place to go, especially if you are a follower of Jesus. It is super kid friendly and your kid can learn more about Jesus’ life.

I really enjoyed the Crystal Shrine Grotto itself. It tells the story of the resurrection in a very unique and beautiful way, it looks amazing. The area surrounding was a bit run down, and the cemetery itself isn’t my favorite because there are no cool headstones to look at. We still had a peaceful walk and enjoyed ourselves though.

Great museum. Big enough to enjoy, small enough to not be overwhelmed. There are some great pieces and exhibits in their. The one I enjoyed most was a large oil piece with angels looking down on bethlehem.....an amazing piece by a memphis native. The price for entry wasn't bad either.

Well it appears vets get in free. That was nice. I'm not $ure how much id pay to see B-list artists. No Gauguin, no Monet, no van Gough, no Renoir, no Degas, no Dali, no Picasso. But I don't mind B-list. I saw one E. Boudin, a Pissaro, WM Chase. And I'm not saying I only want Brad Pitt, I'm just saying if you're paying $14 per ticket and you love impressionism, there may be better options. So the more important question is, did I enjoy myself? Yes. It's a nice place, nice presentations, the art they did have was well chosen and interesting. It was walker accessible, too.

The Memphis Sign, located on Mud Island in the Mississippi River, is a block-letter sign designed to attract social media influencers to downtown Memphis. Accessible via a skybridge from downtown, the area offers a great view of the city. While some visitors note that the park could use more maintenance, others appreciate its well-maintained appearance. The park closes at 5 PM and is described as a nice place for taking pictures.
wasn’t expecting a 7 min walk. but it was cool. perfect time would be before sunset. or sunrise depending on the shot you want. you can also just do a selfie and “flip” the image to make it spell memphis again. also you have to pay for parking if your driving to it.
Bennet ( — Google review
I did not know how difficult this place would be to get to when I decided to go by for photos with the sign while driving through Memphis, Tennessee on a road trip. The park has ultimately been abandoned and the monorail to Mud Island has been closed for years. I was able to find a way to drive onto Mud Island, but the sign was located at the very end of the island closest to the bridges into Tennessee a long walk from where I was able to park my car. The sign was anticlimactic after all the hassle I went through to find it.
Robert D — Google review
It was a nice expierence, we parked our car and rode our bikes to the sign, took a couple of pictures then rode our bikes through the trail over the map on the floor of the rivers.

Shontia C — Google review
The sign is the business and worth it for the photo. To be honest though I don’t get the mud island complex/ exhibition/ artwork that you have to walk through to get to it. It must have cost millions and millions and it’s a scale copy of the Mississippi in bricks. Did I miss the point?

The layout is amazing, so much walking, we did 7500 steps in two hours before they closed! I brought my three kids teen to toddler, everyone had a great time. Bring a stroller for under five yr old, super stroller friendly. We came on the off season on a Wednesday so the food places weren't open, got drinks from the various vending machines. A few enclosures didn't have occupants, but honestly not a big deal because there are sooooo many animals here, still. Missed the pandas but knew they weren't going to be here and it's not the fault of the zoo. The animal experts were so kind and knowledgeable and treated the animals with care. The animals looked well cared for and enclosures were large and clean.

Loved this zoo. Had low expectations coming from Dallas zoos and aquariums. But our family loved this just as much. They have small aquarium that could use some TLC. But everything else was great, there is a lot of walking but most of the large animals are out and about and easy to spot. The Herptarium area had plenty of reptile and amphibians.

We go to zoos in every city we visit and this one is delightful. I discovered they're starting a 20-year (!) improvement plan, which will ameliorate the last few old-fashioned animal enclosures, which will take the zoo to the next level. The place is spotless, the animals are well cared-for, and the workers are knowledgeable and friendly. I absolutely do not begrudge the rather high entry expense, as it helps finance the necessary upgrades, which in turn aids in conservation efforts. The site is well-organized and easy to navigate. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit here - if you have kids (or even if you don't!) this is a great place to take a break from other frenetic tourist activities.

Rated #2 in the nation for a reason! Memphis Zoo never disappoints. Membership is a great value and you can tell the zoo really cares for the animals. Exhibits are updated regularly, animals get tons of enrichments & overall seem very happy!

I've loved the Memphis Zoo ever since I was a kid. This zoo has so many different kinds of animals. Lots of the walking is shaded or inside and there are mist fans. Kids can play either in the small fountain or in the new splash pad. There are also zip lines and other new features. Memberships for a family are almost cheaper than just going once, great deal. A great place to visit!

By far the best zoo my wife and i have ever been too. Very clean, super nice workers, they was working on part of it so we didn't see everything. You will get steps in. It was hot but there's plenty of shade and drink stations. The animals looked well fed and very happy.

The 535,000-square-foot megastore in Memphis boasts an impressive array of attractions including a cypress swamp, alligator pools, duck aviaries, and 10 aquariums with over 1,800 fish.
WOW simply amazing! Bass Pro Shops Memphis is truly like nothing I’ve ever seen before! From the moment I walked in I was immersed in a whole new world. There’s an actual swamp inside the store, complete with alligators and giant fish swimming around! It’s incredible to see what they've turned this pyramid into! The shopping selection is massive. They have clothing, shoes, candy, outdoor gear, fishing and hunting equipment, camping supplies, home decor, and so much more! No matter what you’re into whether it’s fishing, hiking, or just unique gifts, there’s something for everyone. I never thought I’d mention a bathroom in a review like this but theirs deserves a shout out, it’s designed beautifully, spotless, and truly impressive. The whole place is packed with fun things to do. There’s a huge sky-high glass elevator (the tallest freestanding in the nation!) that takes you up for an amazing view, an arcade, restaurants, a hotel to stay in, endless areas to explore! It’s not just a store, it’s a full adventure experience! If you’re in Memphis, do NOT miss this place. It’s part shopping trip, part theme park, and 100% unforgettable!
How L — Google review
I had the best time here! I really recommend going up the elevator ($8 per person, $5 for kids) because the lookout was amazing! I would say that if you’re looking to buy bass pro shop things specifically they didn’t have a ton of selection but a great day activity to do if you’re looking to shop in general.

I wanted to visit this location for a very long time so my best friend surprised me when I came to visit and this place did not disappoint. The location is very huge as it used to be a stadium. The employees were very helpful and knowledgeable plan to spend a minimum of an hour because they have a lot to look at this location. Also had a Wahlburgers to eat inside and has one of the tallest elevators I have ever seen. It was very cool a wonderful experience.
Tiffany H — Google review
One word… Amazing!!! If in Memphis this place is a must visit. It’s more than just a shop so highly recommend a visit. There is great shopping, loads of fish and gators to see, a restaurant to grab lunch and an observation deck at the top of the pyramid.
A J — Google review
This place is incredible, the observation decks, the restaurant at the top, a bowling alley, a shooting range, the hotel inside are just a few things inside the Pyramid. It's $8 per person to use the elevator to get to the observation deck. $10 for a half hour at the range isn't bad at all.
Young P — Google review
Traveling through the states this was a must stop for my fiancé. Huge bass pro shop, live fish in their ponds as well as live alligators. That was cool to see. For a small charge you can take the elevator up to the very top where they have a restaurant and you could step outside onto the balcony and get a view of Memphis and the river with the bridge that crosses into Arkansas. What’s also unique about this bass pro shop is that you could book a stay here in their hotel rooms. I would say it’s much on the pricier side but if you can, do it. And with their little restaurant they have a bowling alley which my fiancé and I did and it was so much fun. For my fiancé who is a fishermen and who enjoys the outdoors this is definitely a place checked off his list.
Meghan P — Google review
Absolutely mind-blowing! Bass Pro Shops in Memphis is on a whole different level — it’s not just a store, it’s an experience. The building itself inside the giant pyramid is insane. Massive aquarium, waterfalls, elevators, an observation deck with crazy views — you could spend hours here. A must-visit spot even if you’re not into hunting or fishing.
Valdemar — Google review
Bass Pro Shops is always a fun place to visit. The store is clean, organized, and full of great outdoor gear. The staff is friendly and helpful without being pushy, and they actually take the time to answer questions. I love the atmosphere — from the displays to the huge fish tank — it feels like more than just a store. They have a great selection of fishing gear, hunting equipment, and outdoor clothing at reasonable prices. Whether I’m just looking around or picking up something specific, I always end up enjoying myself here. Highly recommended for anyone who loves the outdoors.

Beale Street Landing is a picturesque riverside park in Memphis that offers a variety of activities and scenic views. It's not just a place for sightseeing, but also serves as a dynamic venue for weddings with its walking paths, picnic areas, and rental bikes. Connected to Tom Lee Park, it provides an extension of the same look and feel along with great vantage points for Mississippi River views.
Great views of the mighty Mississippi. Too bad there's nowhere to get down to the water, but even as low as the river is, it had a very strong current. But beautiful views of Arkansas and the surrounding area.

Nice little park, great view of the river. I am very impressed by the fact you can borrow the basketball, putters (for put put golf), badminton, etc that you would want to play at the park. Restrooms were "very clean" according to my wife. Highly recommend for kids!

The cruise was excellent! We had perfect weather and Sam, the shuttle driver was so nice! I mentioned to him that it was out last day in Memphis and I hadn't seen Humes High School or Lauderdale Courts and he very kindly drove out of the way to both of those places. I really appreciated that!! The house for the river cruise provided a lot of interesting information about the river and the history of people working on it.

This beautiful site was the location of my daughters baby shower. Grace, our contact person, was so helpful and made sure that evertything was perfect. The gentleman that let us in that day was also cleaning, he had it very clean and was helpful as well. One of the field agents stopped by and gave us extra trash bags and found a broom that we could use to leave the place as clean as we found it. Hats off to the staff there. The Children's Museum of Memphis, established in 1990, offers a range of interactive permanent displays and traveling exhibits that provide valuable learning opportunities for kids. The museum aims to foster child development through various programs and exhibits designed to support enriched early learning in key domains identified by the United States Department of Education. Visitors can expect age-appropriate exhibits and interactive activities such as digital art, rock climbing, money management at the bank exhibit, the bubble garden, and more.
Brought my 3 year old son for the day and he had a blast! We were there for 4 hours and never got bored! So many different areas of play and learning! The place was very clean, the staff was kind and helpful, the price was cheap for what all they offer! We stayed inside but plan to go back to play in the outdoor areas!

The Children’s Museum of Memphis is absolutely amazing! It’s one of the best places in the city for kids to play, learn, and explore. Every exhibit is hands-on and interactive—whether it’s climbing through the Skyscraper, shopping in the mini-grocery store, exploring the firetruck, or even stepping inside a real airplane cockpit. The Grand Carousel is beautiful and a must-ride, and the splash park outside is perfect for hot days. The museum is clean, safe, and very well maintained. Staff members are friendly, welcoming, and clearly love working with kids. My family always spends hours here, and there’s something fun for every age. It’s the perfect mix of education and play, and you can easily come back again and again without running out of things to do.

Sun Studio, known as The Birthplace of Rock and Roll, is an iconic 1950's studio where legendary musicians like Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, and Jerry Lee Lewis recorded some of their most famous tracks. The studio offers guided tours led by enthusiastic and knowledgeable guides who share fascinating stories about the artists who have passed through its doors.
Me and my son recently visited Sun Studio, as part of my sons 21st birthday celebrations. We weren’t disappointed in the slightest. My son is a guitar player so this was an important visit for us. We were shown around by tour guide Mark Edgar Stuart, who was just superb! We asked him plenty of questions and his knowledge was unreal. Mark also let my son play guitar in the studio which was a very special moment and one I’ll never forget. Anyone visiting Sun Studio, ask for Mark and you’ll have the best time. Loved every minute.

⭐ Five Stars - The Most Authentic and Captivating Tour of Our Lives! To the management and staff of Sun Studio, As long-time, seasoned travelers who have taken countless sightseeing tours all over the world for years, we have reached a point where we rarely expect to be genuinely moved by an attraction. This tour, however, was an absolute revelation. We can confidently say we have never experienced a tour as authentic and utterly captivating as our visit to Sun Studio. A special and heartfelt thank you goes to our guide, Hurley. Hurley is more than a tour guide; he is a phenomenal storyteller. His passion, knowledge, and energy were so immense that he didn't just recount history—he literally transported us back to the moment where rock and roll was born. The experience was deeply immersive and carried us away completely. Standing in that legendary room, hearing the stories told by Hurley, we truly had goosebumps as we felt the palpable spirit of the past—the raw creativity and musical revolution—surrounding us. Sun Studio is a must-see for its history, but Hurley made it a truly unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime experience. Thank you, Hurley, for sharing the soul of this incredible place with us. We highly recommend this tour—and Hurley—to anyone visiting Memphis!

A Must-Visit for Music History Lovers Sun Studio is a small but mighty landmark packed with musical legacy. Standing in the very room where legends like Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, and Jerry Lee Lewis began their careers is nothing short of awe-inspiring. It’s amazing to think how such a modest space helped shape the sound of American music. The tour is well-organized and informative, offering a few fascinating stories and original memorabilia that bring the studio’s history to life. Just a heads-up—it's a compact venue, so don’t expect a long visit. You’ll likely be in and out within an hour, but every minute is worth it. Tip: Be sure to book your time slot in advance, as it can fill up quickly. Despite its size, Sun Studio delivers a powerful experience that’s well worth the stop for anyone visiting Memphis.
Matthew E — Google review
A pretty cool experience but the tour guide really made it special. It's interesting to hear how the studio is so silent, and the audio demonstrations are played back with accuracy on good speakers. The gift shop is also reasonably priced. Plenty of free street parking. Be aware there are a good amount of stairs involved in the studio tour. Everyone is kind and patient and helpful with stairs, but as far as I could tell, the upstairs portion of the tour is not wheelchair accessible. Correct me if I'm wrong. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

The Lorraine Motel in Memphis is now home to the National Civil Rights Museum, a must-see for anyone visiting the city. This historic site is where Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated in 1968 and has been transformed into a museum that offers an immersive experience of the civil rights movement. With over 260 artifacts, 40 films, oral histories, and interactive media, visitors are taken on a journey through four centuries of history.
Visiting the Lorraine Motel is a deeply emotional experience. Standing in the place where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was tragically assassinated brings a heavy awareness of the painful history of racism in America. It’s heartbreaking to reflect on the unimaginable injustice and cruelty Black people have faced simply because of their skin color. This site is a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made—not only by Dr. King but by countless others in the struggle for equality and justice. It’s more than a museum; it’s a sacred space that honors courage, suffering, and the enduring fight for civil rights. Everyone should experience it.

This place is ALWAYS a winner. This is my 3rd trip here and each experience is just as moving and educational as the first. Hate that the second portion of the tour, the Lee Harvey Oswald portion, wasn't available due to renovations. Just means I'll have to come back again in the future. Great experience!

If you ever wanna know about the history of segregation and racism, this is where you would wanna come. It was truly an eye opener and a lot of information that I knew from some history books. But I didn't know the extent of how bad it was. I'm very much into history and so learning about all this information was very interesting and so sad at the same time. And also seeing where MLk was assassinated was surprising, especially with all the preservation that came into it. They really did a fantastic job in trying to educate people through this museum. I came with my friend and brother who also learned a lot. Would a hundred percent recommend to people who have an interest in learning about the history that is not really talked about. Honestly is sad when you really learn about it, because most of this stuff was never taught in history books.

Jerry's Sno Cones is a popular spot that offers more than just snow cones. Customers rave about the delicious Philly steak sandwiches and signature burgers, which are significantly better than fast food options. The snow cones are described as 'ridiculously good,' with finely shaved ice that almost has a creamy texture and soft serve dollops mixed in. The prices are fair, and the portions are generous.
100 - BURGER 100 - OREO STORM Loving the drive-thru and sweet workers. Haven’t been here since they were at the other location, was just in the Cordova area. Food is perfecto. I can tell the patio is awesome, too. Happy place!

We love Jerry’s! We have only ever had their snow cones but we are never disappointed. The snow is the soft kind and they do not skimp on syrup. Our favorite right now is candy crush. I am so glad we finally went inside to see all the flavors explained.
Grace B — Google review
I used to love going to Jerry's Sno Cones with my family. I preferred the original location, but we liked the Cordova location, as well. I have visited three times this Spring and my experience hasn't been good any of the visits. The first visit, they gave me the wrong sized snow cone and the chips in my nachos were stale. They didn't seem to care when I mentioned it. I let it go. The second time, my burger was wrong and, again, my chips in my nachos were stale. Yesterday, I ordered a rootbeer snow cone and I decided to try the nachos one more time. Again, they were stale. The real kicker was when I had eaten the top layer of my snow cone, I noticed there was a "red" flavor in it. I dug a little deeper and there was bright orange, as well. I decided to say something again and they just said, "Yea, someone probably made it wrong." I give up. As a single parent, I can't keep wasting money on treats that aren't edible and hoping it goes back to how it used to be. Hopefully, they can figure things out going forward. We will have to find somewhere else to go.
N H — Google review
I see the low star rating but my experience this day was nothing but opposite. Food made as ordered. Service was good to me no attitudes from order taker or at window. They deserved a tip.
Tee J — Google review
Really really miss the old original Jerry’s location. First time here and I expected more. The drive thru menu needs to be updated you can hardly read the menu and prices. The snow cone flavors are not the same taste water down.
R C — Google review
The customer service here is terrible. I visited yesterday. I was curious about the fun flavors they had by the names listed. I asked about two different flavors. I wanted to know if Pina Colada was just pineapple and coconut and I asked what the flavor Roller Coaster (which is listed on the menu). I was told “I don’t know.” I asked if they could ask someone else and she said she did and no one knew. That the flavor would “probably be sweet.” I ended up just ordering pineapple supreme so I could get out of the line since there wasn’t a place to exit the drive-thru. The woman’s/girl’s tone through the order box was very rude. When I pulled up to the window the person who took my cash wasn’t the person who gave me change. It was someone who was serving out the window. I observed they had extremely dirty fingernails when they handed me my change and my order. I think the owners should really re-evaluate the customer service aspect of this location with current staff. It can make or break your business and from the reviews I’ve seen that have been posted lately, it’s not just me.

This is the kids Popcorn Chicken Combo at Jerry's. I will not spend my money on food here anymore. I Love the Sno Cones and will always come for those!!!!! The food is to expensive for the amount of food you receive.
Michelle R — Google review
It could just be my expectations for this place but I was really disappointed with my experience. First, they only sell ice cream in vanilla, chocolate, or mixed. The massive lists of flavors are strictly for snow cones but it’s not super well labeled, so I thought it could’ve applied to ice cream flavors too. Anyway, we got a caramel vanilla sundae, strawberry cheesecake snow cone, and Mac n cheese bites. The sundae was okay but it was literally just vanilla ice cream with caramel thrown on top. I thought it would’ve been like caramel ice cream but aside from that, it was okay. The strawberry cheesecake snow cone was a disappointment. It just tasted like ice with sugared food coloring. I couldn’t taste the strawberry cheesecake flavor anywhere. And finally the Mac n cheese bites were eh. I thought they’d be bigger but they were really tiny and the nacho cheese dip that came with was horrible. Overall, the service was a little slow and I think I just had too high of expectations of this place given that it’s always crowded. But it was a disappointment for us and I don’t see us coming back.

This nearly mile-long pedestrian bridge provides stunning panoramic views of the Memphis skyline, making it perfect for walking, running, or biking. It's part of the extensive Big River Trail System and connects to approximately 10 miles of pathways that lead to various attractions in downtown Memphis. As the longest public pedestrian bridge across the Mississippi River, Big River Crossing allows you to straddle Tennessee and Arkansas simultaneously when you reach its center.
We were recommended this brief walk by some friends. If you visit Memphis you need to see the Mississippi 'shining like a national guitar' and step into Arkansas. We were incredibly lucky to get our timing perfect by meeting up with a once a year walking tour to see the harvest moon rise above the Mississippi. It was a real highlight of our holiday to meet local Memphians and learn all about Memphis from the locals. We were very lucky Instead of spending 30 minutes on the walk we took 2 hours!! I really recommend making the time to do this walk across the Mississippi. You will need a car but it's a short 6-8 min drive from downtown Memphis

Good hiking spot. The interesting part is the crossing or state line between TN and AR states. Constructed over magnificent Mississippi River, a family-friendly hiking place. The area is marked for development projects by 2026. I hope they continue to build, improve, and make it a more inviting place. There are picnic tables and electric bikes for rent on the AR side of the state line. This bridge walk is fun, and the area itself is well maintained. However, lack of restrooms and slow development work makes the place less inviting.

Very nice trail that is well-maintained and offers great views of Memphis and the Mississippi River. Security cameras all over the bridge and typically a lot of foot and bike traffic so I’ve never felt uncomfortable there. However, like any city, be aware of your surroundings.

The Big River Crossing bridge is a straight shoot great for running, walking and biking with a view of the Mississippi River and breezy draft.

A nice place for a medium length hike. Great views, not too busy, but watch out for the speedy bikes. The AK side continue far in land before reaching ground. One suggestion for improvement, put public restrooms on each side of the bridge.
Denny O — Google review
Big River Park was amazing. We enjoyed a pleasant prayer walk over the bridge, taking in the beautiful scenery along the way. One of the coolest aspects is that part of the park is in Memphis, while the other part is in Arkansas. It's a unique and enjoyable experience that I highly recommend.

Nice walk across the mighty Mississippi with plenty of room to bring your dog or for biking. There is an overlook spot about halfway marking the Tennessee Arkansas state line. This is nice photo spot with the downtown Memphis skyline and river in the background.

The Peabody Memphis is a renowned 13-story hotel known for its iconic resident ducks and upscale amenities. The Feathers Spa, named after the famous ducks, offers a wide range of spa and salon treatments, including massages, body therapies, skin care, wax treatments, manicures, and pedicures. The hotel also features the Peabody Athletic Club with an indoor heated swimming pool and whirlpool spa.
Everything about The Peabody is just incredible! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Clean big rooms! Bathroom a bit small but it is an older hotel so to be expected. It did not take away from the overall delightful stay! The Capricco Grill was very delightful with delicious food! In room breakfast was the best I have ever had anywhere, absolutely loved it! We will definitely stay again and will be telling anyone we can to stay here. It is well worth it!

The hotel had an old English flare about it with southern hospitality. Every staff member I encountered was friendly and hospitable. The food was delicious. It is apparent that they made upgrades to the room, but mine still had some mysterious water damage near the front door; I informed the manager, and I heard her addressing it right away. The duck theme is adorable. The hotel food was good.

We loved the Duck Parade and Keenan was a wonderful Duckmaster. Be sure to get there early to get a seat in the lobby. Or if you want, you can sit along the red carpet to watch the ducks parade in. It’s definitely worth it. Just a cute way to start or end your day. Also take a trip up to the rooftop to see the Duck Palace and a great view of the city. The lobby is beautiful and the service was great. They also have a wonderful mural for a photo opportunity!

Oh wow! Just perfect... aside from our very first moments of arrival and first impression! We were tired from long drive and yet excited to arrive... front desk staff was just unwelcoming. being stand offish and seemingly bothered or cranky. The bell hop nearly ran us over at the very entry with cart with no apologies - was very disappointing NOT Peabody quality. However, moving on with much faith... Our reservation had been surprisingly Upgraded to the 12th floor which was a wonderful surprise as it came with happy hour drinks dining and candy bar!!😍Such a beautiful and amazing place! Janice was our reservation specialist and she was GREAT! She was friendly, helpful and accommodating! The rooftop and duck palace is a must see and of course the duck shows are adorable! Lots to see, eat and drink as well as alot of shopping! Beale street was amazing as well! BB KINGS took the win! Met a ton of great people from all over the world....Thank you all for the experience!!

My stay at The Peabody Hotel in Memphis was so enjoyable that I felt it deserved a full review. From the moment I walked into the lobby, the atmosphere felt grand, elegant, and truly one-of-a-kind. The staff was welcoming, professional, and genuinely attentive, making the entire experience feel warm and effortless. Every interaction—from check-in to dining—was handled with care and friendly Southern hospitality. One of the absolute highlights for me was the famous Peabody Duck Parade. Watching the ducks march to the fountain is pure joy and something you simply cannot experience anywhere else. It’s charming, unique, and adds a level of delight that makes the Peabody feel special in a way that goes beyond just being a hotel. The crowd’s excitement, the music, and the history behind the tradition all come together to create a moment you’ll never forget. My room was beautiful, clean, and comfortable, with thoughtful touches that made it easy to relax. The hotel itself is stunning, with rich details, historic charm, and a timeless elegance that you notice everywhere you turn. If you’re visiting Memphis and want a memorable, top-tier experience—complete with the unforgettable duck parade—the Peabody is truly the perfect place to stay.

Oh, my sainted aunt, where to start? Seeing the Peabody ducks has been on my bucket list forever (since the 80s) and I finally got to see them! (Three times during our four-day visit.) My inner child is sqeeing with happiness. The Duckmaster, Keenan Walker, is simply the loveliest man, and we're now BFFs. 🤣 Our room was well-appointed and scrupulously clean. Breakfast and happy hour in the lounge was delicious - not a huge selection, but I don't like having too many choices. Everything was fresh every day, and there's an omelette station at breakfast. Every single employee I encountered here was welcoming and friendly. This has been simply one of the nicest vacations in my 60+ years on the planet, and I hope to return before too long.

I really wish I could remember everyone's names I encountered when checking in, order room service, asking questions, and checking out because they all were incredibly nice & professional. China, Jack, Keila, Rita, and a lady who's name started with a Z are just a few that I could remember but they all were phenomenal! I'd definitely return to the Peabody whenever I am in Memphis! Immerse yourself in the rich history of Memphis' rock and soul music at the Memphis Rock 'n' Soul Museum. Located downtown, this interactive museum tells the story of how the city influenced these genres through various exhibits and audio guides. From the early field hollers to the rise of iconic record labels like Sun, Stax, and Hi Records, visitors can explore seven galleries showcasing over 30 instruments, 40 costumes, and 100 songs.
A Must-Visit Historic and Musical Heritage Site – Memphis Rock and Soul Museum** My recent visit to the Memphis Rock and Soul Museum was an enriching and insightful experience that I highly recommend to anyone interested in the rich musical history of Memphis. After enjoying a delightful brunch, we arrived at the museum in the middle of the day, eager to delve into its offerings. The museum features a self-guided tour system, beginning with an engaging introductory film that provides a comprehensive overview of the museum’s focus on the roots and evolution of rock and soul music. This visual introduction set the perfect tone for the exploration that followed. As we proceeded through the exhibits, it became evident just how significant Memphis has been in shaping American musical history. The museum offers detailed information about pivotal moments, such as the emergence of the first Black radio station, and how genres like gospel and country influenced the renaissance of blues music. Each exhibit was thoughtfully curated, offering a deep dive into the stories behind iconic figures and legendary venues. The tour effectively contextualizes Memphis’s pivotal role in music history, shedding light on cultural and historical factors that give the city its unique musical identity. It also provides insight into famous sites like Beale Street, and celebrates the legendary careers of musicians such as B.B. King and Elvis Presley. In summary, the Memphis Rock and Soul Museum is a must-visit destination for anyone seeking to understand the roots of Memphis’s vibrant musical landscape. Visiting here before exploring other attractions offers valuable background that enriches the experience of the city’s famous landmarks and musical legends.

This is probably the best music museum I have ever visited. From the name, you know what to expect but it is so well done and the audio guided tour is brilliant. We spent 2 hours here but could have stayed much longer. Highly recommended

Absolutely my favorite museum experience in Memphis so far. I was not sure how I would like the whole headset business but it added so much to the experience. By the end of the tour I found myself asking for more. This story is so beautiful, I do not and do not want it to end. Memphis! Please bring us more music!

I visited last week with my kids high school music program. We had an absolutely fantastic time. The guided audio tour was fantastic. Everything was very clean and well maintained. All staff we encountered were also extremely friendly and assisted us with some directions as well. Thank you!

If you’re short on time and want a one-stop-shop for Memphis music history — this is it. Having done both the Sun Studio and STAX tours, I found there’s definitely some overlapping history here, but Rock ‘n’ Soul brings in fresh narratives and perspectives that still made it a worthwhile and enriching stop. What really sets this place apart is the self-guided audio tour. It’s choose-your-own-adventure style — letting you move at your own pace, dive deeper where you want, or skip ahead when something else catches your ear. Tons of great music samples and stories along the way, all really well produced. It’s compact but content-rich, and located right near Beale Street and FedExForum, making it super easy to pop in. Whether you’re starting your Memphis music journey or adding it to a full tour lineup, the Rock ‘n’ Soul Museum holds its own as a must-visit.

The Memphis Botanic Garden is a diverse collection of plants from around the world, featuring separate areas such as a popular Japanese tranquility space. Families can enjoy snowy nights and crafts at the garden, which has expanded its festivities to include the entire garden. Additionally, every Thursday in July, visitors can bring their leashed dogs to explore the 96 acres of daylilies, dogwoods, and dwarf cypress during extended hours as part of the 'Dog Days of Summer' program.
We recently had the pleasure of visiting the Memphis Botanical Gardens, and it was an absolutely delightful experience. The gardens offer a wonderful splash area for kids, making it a perfect spot for families. On the day we visited, there were also several booths, beautiful artwork available for purchase. The shaded sitting areas throughout the gardens provide a serene environment to relax and soak in the beauty around you. The greenhouse is particularly stunning, filled with vibrant plants and flowers that truly capture the essence of the gardens. One of my favorite aspects of this venue is the welcoming policy that allows visitors to bring their own food. It creates such a romantic and charming atmosphere for a picnic date night amidst the breathtaking surroundings. Additionally, the gardens feature an events building, making it an ideal location for hosting special occasions. How fantastic is that? I left feeling inspired and rejuvenated, and I’m already looking forward to my next visit. Highly recommend this treasure in Memphis!

This place is huge, we spent almost 3 hours walking, reading and learning about plants. Unfortunately it was a hot summer day and there are no beverages vending machines anywhere. We had to settle with fountain water. Be sure you pack plenty cold soda it will help you thru the garden. The admission ticket is only $12 for adult what a bargain. This place is good for family outing. The garden is well maintained. Their gift shop is tiny and not much selection.

It is always a joy visiting the garden. The grounds are huge very well cultivated, you can tell a lot of love and work goes into the garden. Definitely recommend getting the annual pass, it's effectively paid for itself after a short period of time given how frequently I visit the place. While definitely popular (for great reasons!) w the local schools and for weddings and photo shoots, still large enough to have some privacy and peace even at peak hours. The Asian garden and the herb garden are probably my favorite sections of the whole place.

The Belz Museum of Asian and Judaic Art in downtown Memphis is a treasure trove of unique art and artifacts. Founded by Jack Belz and his wife Marilyn, the museum showcases their extensive collection of Chinese art, including exquisite objects from the Qing Dynasty such as carved jade, ivory, paintings, sculptures, and textiles. The museum also features a diverse range of items from other cultures like lacquer boxes, glassworks, Italian mosaics, and Judaic art.
Great collection of pieces of art! It's a small museum but there are so many exhibits of display! I was impressed! And it's not expensive at all! Highly recommend!

Great museum, this place is a hidden treasure in Memphis. They have so much its crazy to believe this is all here. Rare peices and lots of intricate carvings like ivory. Amazing art and crafts to see from such old times.
Kenny P — Google review
There's so many amazing peices of art here. There's furniture, embroidery, sculptures, calligraphy, and more. It's insane seeing the expert jade and ivory carvings, especially ones involving chains or puzzel spheres. Make sure you read the plaques. It really gives important context to the pieces, like how one piece is a mammoth's tusk that's over 10,000 years old! It is a small museum, but it is worth the 6$
Dakota B — Google review
The Belz Museum is truly a gem, not to missed. I was astounded by the quality of the collection and by the superb craftsmanship of each object. Of the dozen or more museums that I visited on a multi-state two week trip, this was my favorite. I only wish the museum had a current book illustrating and describing the pieces (the one in the gift shop is dated 1995 and doesn’t include many of the pieces). This is a world-class collection and museum!
Dave W — Google review
This museum is truly amazing and deserving of 10 stars, if I was able to give that many. The exhibits are spectacular and worth taking the time to go see. My only criticism is that the person who was working at the ticket counter/gift shop could not have been less welcoming…just generally unfriendly and treated us like we were a bother. Even so, you won’t regret making time to go through the museum.
K V — Google review
The Belz Museum of Asian & Judaic Art is an incredible hidden gem in Memphis. As I walked through the exhibits, I was struck by the diversity and beauty of the art on display. The museum features an extensive collection of Asian art, including pieces from China, Japan, India, and Southeast Asia, as well as a large collection of Judaic art, including works from ancient to modern times. The Asian collection includes a wide range of mediums, from traditional ink paintings and porcelain pottery to contemporary sculptures and installations. The museum's collection of Judaic art is equally impressive, featuring a diverse range of objects, including religious texts, ceremonial objects, and fine art. What I found most impressive about the museum was the way it seamlessly blends different cultures and time periods. The curators have done a wonderful job of creating a cohesive narrative that highlights the similarities and differences between the two cultures and how they have influenced each other over time. The Belz Museum of Asian & Judaic Art is a unique and enlightening experience. It offers visitors the opportunity to learn about the art, culture, and history of two vastly different regions of the world. I highly recommend visiting this museum for anyone interested in art, culture, and history. Overall, the Belz Museum of Asian & Judaic Art is a must-see destination for anyone interested in art, culture, and history. It offers a unique and enlightening experience for visitors to learn about the art and culture of two vastly different regions of the world.
Armita Z — Google review
Absolutely loved this hidden gem of the Memphis Art Scene!!! Great staff, but even better exhibits. The level of detail in the tusk carvings is insane! A nice Holocaust remembrance exhibit too. The artifacts are dated to the era in which they were likely created. And any available info is provided. Craziest thing to me is that the staff told my group that this only represents 10% or less of the art they hold currently.
Shaggyrax — Google review
This museum looks unassuming from the outside, but don’t be fooled. The collection of jade and Asian work is outstanding! It’s a quiet, peaceful museum (so was a great way to spend a hot summer afternoon). If you enjoy looking at art this is $5 well spent, the detail on the pieces kept us busy for several hours. I also really enjoyed the Holocaust memorial exhibit with the stories.

The Fire Museum of Memphis, located in the historic Engine House Number One, is a non-profit organization dedicated to educating the public about fire safety and honoring the heritage of firefighters. The museum features vintage firefighting equipment dating back to the early 1900s, interactive exhibits such as the 'Fire Room' that simulate past fires and disasters, and programs aimed at teaching children about fire safety.
This place was AWESOME! We were 3 adults and it was great can't imagine if we were kids. Its interactive, educational and staff were super nice. The escape room was fun and the fire simulator room was beyond COOL! Everything was nicely laid out and very clean as you'd expect in a firehouse. The kids play area was even fun for us!

Fire Museum is such a great place to take your kids! It’s never crowded and doesn’t take a ton of time to get through. I would say maybe an hour and a half to two hours. My kids always have so much fun in the play space where they can pretend to drive the fire truck and go down their fire pole. I think it’s a great mix of history and play. This museum is a treasure. I’m so amazed at how well it’s kept. All the vintage machines and history are amazing. The people that staff this place are great and they are proud firefighters. We had a personal tour from Bobo, one of the firefighters. They have quite a few exhibits for the children, including many educational ones with hands-on. This is a wonderful place. The first one I've seen with a talking horse and a fire room. The people working there were friendly and helpful.
Max H — Google review
The lady behind the counter was a pleasure to deal with, she was informed, polite and very accommodating. The two gentlemen who were looking after the interactive exhibit were exactly the same. They had no hesitation in fielding questions, showing us around or just being fantastic hosts. They even let my grown son ring the bell, as it was. If you are in Memphis, stop on in, have a look, you won't regret it.
Chris C — Google review
A great place to visit especially if you’re a fire fighter. A number of tributes to fallen brothers, including those from 9/11. We were lucky when we visited as we were escorted through the museum by an off-duty fire fighter. Well worth a visit.

Rhodes College in Memphis is a picturesque location with historic buildings that make it perfect for engagement sessions. The campus, though small, offers a beautiful setting for photography and provides a great environment for students. With small class sizes and helpful professors, the college focuses on academics while also offering various clubs and volunteer opportunities. Students benefit from the strong academic programs and connections to internships in Memphis, preparing them well for their future careers.
I am just finishing up my last year at Rhodes and I have loved every second about it. I am more than prepared to go to graduate school because of the incredible academics offered here. The school does an unbelievable job of integrating a small liberal arts school into the incredibly diverse and culturally sophisticated city of Memphis. Fantastic college experience! Would recommend to anyone and everyone!

Beautiful campus. Thank you for hosting the track and field portion of the National Veteran Golden Age Games in 2025. The facilities were nice and many of the students and staff were volunteers to help run the veteran events.
William H — Google review
There is not a day that goes by that I do not miss Rhodes College. The doors it opened and the opportunities I had to not only impact communities but be impacted by them will stick with me forever. Rhodes helped me to develop into an individual that values the humanness in everyone. It challenged me to look at the life that I am living and ask myself how I can utilize this life to help others find joy in their lives. I made some amazing friends! I still keep in contact with the administration and go to alumni events quite often. I graduated in '12 and, though I understand many of my peers had experiences where they felt like diversity was an issue, my experience was one of inclusiveness. I was able to mingle with all people and make friends across societal divisions. It was an absolutely amazing four years. My advice to prospective students is to reach out if you find that you need help. The support here is tremendous. I don't think I would have made it without Carol Casey, Dean Laakso, and Walt Tennyson! If I could go back I would. I really would.
Jordan G — Google review
Gorgeous campus, small class sizes, and excellent professors. Loved my Rhodes experience!
Lee S — Google review
My little sister Morgan Askew is a sophomore at Rhodes…! It’s very family oriented and we just love Rhodes…!
Apollonia A — Google review
I enjoyed my academic experience there. It wasn't terribly challenging or anything, but they offer a lot of interesting classes. I had a few really great professors that were very influential to me. And one thing I loved was the small classes (my gf had a 400 level class with 4 people in it once), and the fact that a lot of professors were very accessible outside of class. On the other hand, the student body was very one-dimensional. I constantly felt like I was meeting the same person over and over again. The large majority of people at Rhodes come from similar socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds as well as have similar interests, values, and goals. Campus social life primarily revolves around Greek life. They tout that everyone finds their niche at Rhodes, but what really happens is you usually learn how to fit into the "Rhodes" niche. If you don't find yourself fitting into the Rhodes niche, don't worry. There are other people who feel the same way you do, and by junior year small pockets of people will emerge outside the Rhodes bubble that you might enjoy integrating into. However, this is a very small number of people, and you'd more than likely have enjoyed yourself better at a school that was actually diverse. Don't underestimate how important diversity is before you go to college. Also the administration sucks and is useless.

Such a elegant , beautiful school with smart and lovely people. Such a zen place to be tonight. 😌🙏🏽🇵🇸

Fantastic academics and amazing professors. Memphis is also a great location for internships, work experience, etc. The connections made and skills learned at Rhodes will leave you more than prepared for the workforce come graduation. Rhodes does an excellent job challenging their students and integrating them into the greater Memphis community. I would highly recommend Rhodes to anyone who sees the merit in a liberal arts education.

Beale Street Entertainment District in Memphis is a historic and iconic strip known for its rich blues music history. This three-block area is packed with live music venues, restaurants, blues clubs, and small shops. It's also the site for various music festivals and outdoor concerts throughout the year. Visitors can immerse themselves in the culture by exploring record shops and learning about the history of jazz. At night, locals can be seen dancing outside bars and eateries, creating a vibrant atmosphere.
Visiting Beale Street Entertainment District was an unforgettable experience that perfectly captures the spirit of Memphis! This iconic stretch of around three blocks is packed with live music venues, restaurants, bars, museums, and shops, all within easy walking distance. The energy here is non-stop! Whether you come during the day or late at night, there’s always something happening. One of the most incredible things about Beale Street is the music. No matter your taste whether its blues, rock 'n' roll, R&B, or jazz, you’ll find it here. It’s truly a 24/7 celebration with music pouring out of open doors and street performers adding to the excitement. I also want to note how safe and welcoming it felt. Even with some of the recent news stories you might hear about Memphis, I felt completely at ease exploring both day and night. The area is well-patrolled, well-lit, and filled with friendly locals and fellow travelers. The people I met were some of the friendliest I’ve ever encountered while traveling, always ready to strike up a conversation! The atmosphere is electric yet laid-back making for a perfect balance. The neon lights, music and the historic charm of the street create a vibe that’s truly one of a kind.. Beale Street a must-see for anyone wanting to feel the heart and soul of Memphis!
How L — Google review
Overpriced tourist trap! Go on a Sunday....at least it is free metered parking. Did not understand why people were still paying for parking in a parking garage. Two drinks with tip on a Sunday afternoon cost $40! Area had people sleeping on the sidewalk, walking around talking to themselves, and others who smelled like they hadn't gotten a shower in who knows how long! Need to watch your surroundings. Some families were out and about, but not really a family area. I can say I been there, done that, but will take my tourist dollars elsewhere.
Shelly D — Google review
It was interesting to go there and have a early evening dinner.. it’s just interesting to see it, have a taste of it. Beale street was not crowded by the end of the afternoon, still it’s a street where you should be careful, I didn’t have any issues there but I felt that I had to be careful.

Sunday Funday with my work crew! It was a memorable day with food, drinks 🍸 😋, 📸 and good ol Jazz music 🎷 🎺 🎶. Memphis owes me nothing 💃🏿💃🏿💃🏿 On Sunday Evenings, you would need to get a ticket to enjoy some things though.

This beautiful city is sorely underrated. I wasn't able to enjoy the nightlife as I was here on business but I honestly believe if you were to conduct yourself properly, you would agree that it has much to offer.

A must see when in Memphis, great music and food and people are all so nice down here. Lots of food and drink to choose from, nice walk on a walk only street which makes it leisurely and relaxed. Will definitely come back some time!
Sarah M — Google review
Was not crowded (do to weather and time of year. The venders that where open where friendly helpful and cheery. Had a blast watching a man do flips and jumps. Even got jumped over. Horse and carriage rides.
Ashley L — Google review
It's a very nice experience, being a lover of rock and roll I was disappointed, as this is birth place of rock and roll I expected to see and hear rock and roll music. If you didn't know it was the birth place of rock and roll you certainly wouldn't have found out, the only evidence was the statue of Elvis. If you love the blues, you are in the right place.

Discover the vibrant and eclectic Broad Avenue Arts District, a revitalized neighborhood in the heart of Memphis. Once a declining area, it now boasts an array of locally owned coffee houses, art galleries, shops, and restaurants that offer unique experiences. The district is home to quirky spots like The Liquor Store for breakfast and trendy shops such as Mbabzi House of Style and Falling Into Place. This offbeat collection of businesses brings vitality back to the area with its genuine and heartfelt atmosphere.
This is a tiny little district with no real artist living spaces.. it a neighbor revenue builder .. great bike lines tons of fun little events ... in the past I have found more support from tiny places outside this district it can be exclusive to certain trains of thought. But if your a breeder who wants to push a stroller around it’s great!!

Broadway pizza 🍕. The pizza was expensive but the quality was great. It was truly you get what you pay for. Thick cheese plenty of chicken and vegetables. The box was so heavy it required 2 hands to carry. The clerk was awesome and the order was completed to my satisfaction. I will definitely recommend this business and will definitely do business with them again and again

Mississippi River Park, now known as the River Garden at Mississippi River Park, is a 1-acre park located in the heart of the Memphis riverfront. It offers serene sunset views, play areas, fire pits, and picnic tables. The park features life-size bird nests for exploration, an all-ages playground, walking paths, native plants, and a relaxing lawn area.
It seems like the theme of this park is sustainability and accessibility. The playground is made of mostly wood and rope. It has a ramp up to accommodate wheelchair users or people with mobility restraints. It is large and sturdy enough for even adults to play on. Along the walking path is a wide variety of trees and flowers. I specifically love the wildflower gardens snaking throughout the park. And there are well-used bird houses. If you see a tree you like, look down! Many of the trees are labeled with bronze plaques. I'm unsure of the laws, but it seems you are even able to fish from the Mississippi from this park's river bank.
Dakota B — Google review
Park is abandoned. The train that takes you over the river is vandalized and not in use anymore. Same is with the riverwalk. There is no water in it. It is still open to the public, but it is not anywhere close, as it was before the closure.

This park has a great view of the city. A boat ramp for the river, it’s great for pictures and walking. The bathroom was locked. It’s a little far from the parking area to the Memphis sign so maybe don’t drink too much water if you plan on a visit. It’s definitely a great place to visit. If you’re traveling through I highly recommend stopping here for the sights and some cute photos.

Overton Square is a lively and eclectic hub in Memphis, offering a mix of entertainment venues, dining options, and event spaces. The Atrium at Overton Square stands out as a premium events venue with modern decor and top-notch catering services. This vibrant destination was spearheaded by visionary developers who championed the allowance of alcohol sales, paving the way for iconic establishments like T.G.I. Fridays. Families can also enjoy free festivals featuring local artists, live music, and regional breweries.
I adore Overton Square so much, and my son and I go there all the time. There is a great courtyard in the back where kids can play and there’s a little house that he loves to play in and we can just get pizza and run around and go to the candy store and then they have this amazing light installation in the hallway that we could literally just sit in for days and stare at it’s so beautiful. Overton Square truly gives back to Midtown so much with this beautiful space and all of the wonderful businesses that are in it. I love it here. It’s a great location.

Nice shopping area located in Memphis. There are quite a few different shops and restaurants located in this area so there is plenty to choose from. I have eaten at Bayou and Babalu and both were good. The parking situation could be a bit better and have better signage but overall it is a good place to walk around, do some shopping, and get a bite to eat.

The Green Room is one of just a handful of listening rooms in Memphis with the cool Art 🎨 Bar adjacent but enough of a buffer zone that the bar noise doesn't filter in. Kinda a house concert vibe.Crosstown theater hosts some slightly bigger shows and has films every Thursday.
