Flea & Street Markets
The Ithaca Farmers Market is a lively open-air market held on weekends in a spacious pavilion by the scenic Cayuga Lake. It offers an array of farm-fresh produce, flowers, local wines, and handmade crafts. Visitors can also indulge in diverse international cuisines while enjoying live music and entertainment. The market's vibrant atmosphere reflects the region's agricultural abundance and artistic creativity. Additionally, it has expanded to include Wednesday markets at its East Hill location and a Sunday Market at Steamboat Landing.
Loved this place. So many great vendors with variety of choices. We Enjoyed mushroom, kombucha and cherries. Since we were traveling, we didn't by a lot but if I were local, I would have Enjoyed more. Still a great place during our road trip.
Dayan S — Google review
Just went there for the first time and I really loved this place!! There are various types of stalls, for example: fresh fruits & vegetables directed from farms, foods for all over the over world, artisan breads, sweets, dairy meats & products, arts & jewelry, flowers etc. I want to come back again soon! Absolutely recommend for those who live here or nearby!☺️👏🏻
Gam P — Google review
By far a superb Farmers Market. So popular they have to have parking lot attendants to manage and the overflow parking. Get there early for the best parking. Many many vendors offering a huge selection, including many organically grown vegetables as well as food vendors serving a wide selection of dishes from American to Chinese, Thai and Cambodian and others. Atmosphere was fantastic with young and old enjoying the market and lakeside events. Picnic tables available to enjoy food bought from the vendors. All produce had to be grown within 30 miles in order to be offered for sale.
Ralph C — Google review
Such a great experience. Live music, close access to the scenic boat tours, and plenty of variety throughout the available shops. It gets a little crowded, but in a good way. Definitely get the macaroons!
Charles H — Google review
I love farmers markets, Ithaca, Santa Fe, Woodstock, Cary and Crystal Lake. The Ithaca market has a really beautiful venue by the river. The vendors include traditional fruits and vegetables during season, cheeses, various craft meats, several wine, cider, beer offerings including tastings, several food options like burritos, Thai, middle eastern, tibitetian, lemonades, various parties, breads. This is definitely worth the trip, but prepare yourself for patience and understanding because everyone really likes to go there.
Charles L — Google review
The BEST farmers market around and honestly one of the very best I’ve ever been too. There’s countless food, arts, and farm stands that come in a variety of forms! You can buy anything from sheepskin to clothes to pottery while you sip fresh brewed espresso, eat a fresh cooked hot meal, or snack on your favorite dessert. Don’t forget to stop by any or many of the farm vendors!! There’s local organic veggies galore, local cheese vendors, and local meat vendors. Parking can be difficult so try to come early if you can. You can sit at one of the tables or benches next to the inlet or on the docks while you eat and listen to some live music. Enjoy everything this market has to offer!! A lot of vendors use cash only so come with cash to spend!! Support the local artisans and farmers with cash if you can!
Sierra — Google review
This is a fantastic farmers market. Its a permanent structure, with toilets and an ATM. There are fresh produce vendors, small producers, drinks to go, food to go, artisan crafts, maple syrup, bakeries, honey, artists.....
Charlotte F — Google review
Great spot to find local veg, spirits and experience a variety of world cuisine which isn't anywhere else in the area. Can be a bit crowded and some booths were a bit pricey, but I was happy with everything purchased there.

Waterfall
Nature & Parks
Ithaca Falls is a 150-ft. waterfall that can be reached via a walking trail and features a natural pool popular for fishing. It's one of the easier waterfalls to visit in the Finger Lakes Region, offering visitors the opportunity to get close and have an authentic experience with it. The waterfall exhibits graceful characteristics as it ripples down its 75ft face, making it a favorite among visitors.
Short, easy walk to Ithaca Falls. The nearby parking lot is pretty rough and small, but there is some street parking as well. Looks to be good fishing 🎣. A must-see when visiting Ithaca.
Nick W — Google review
The falls are 175 feet high. There is a walking trail to get to them, which is not hard to navigate, just in some places are rocks big and small, some can move but is level.
Gabrielle — Google review
Beautiful hike that was short and sweet. Parking is relatively easy across the street and the waterfall was a short hike to access. It was truly large beautiful gorgeous. You can get as close as a few feet to falls and post a rainy day, it is absolutely guzzling. Would highly recommend for anyone in the area to drop by and check it out.
Andy — Google review
This is a great place to visit. No fees and you go right to the base of the Falls! We walked along the base and it was a great start to our Holiday weekend!
Elise K — Google review
Beautiful. Easy parking. Easy walk. Don’t think it qualifies as a hike though.
Nicollette L — Google review
Gorgeous and super easy to walk up to the falls!! Early October was the perfect time to go because the fall colors were just starting to peak. Go during sunset for an exceptional view! The falls practically looked like they were glowing 😍 As you get closer to the falls, the path does become a bit rocky so it would be helpful to wear hiking shoes or bring a hiking stick along.
Meghna R — Google review
Ithaca Falls is a stunning natural spot that captures the beauty and power of the Finger Lakes region. The waterfall is massive and surrounded by lush greenery, creating a scene that feels both peaceful and dramatic. What makes it especially memorable is how close you can get. It’s just steps from the base, you can feel the mist on your face and hear the full rush of the water. It’s easy to access right from the city, yet it feels like a world away. A must visit for anyone exploring Ithaca.

Hiking area
Cascadilla Gorge Trail is a picturesque walkway that forms part of the Cornell Plantations Path. It was constructed in the 1930s and begins at Triangle Park on Linn Street, leading up to the Cornell campus. The trail spans about 0.3 miles with an elevation change of 400 feet, offering stunning views of six waterfalls and towering gorge walls.
Cascadilla Gorge Trail is absolutely stunning! The trail winds right through the heart of Ithaca, offering a perfect blend of natural beauty and easy access. The stone stairways and walkways make the hike manageable for most people, and the series of cascading waterfalls are simply breathtaking. It feels like stepping into a peaceful oasis, especially with the sound of rushing water all around. It’s well-maintained and clearly marked, and the views just keep getting better as you go. A must-visit if you're in the area — I’d happily come back again and again.
Chris G — Google review
One of the best shorter hiking places in Ithaca! So many nice little waterfalls! Be prepared for summer of 2025 though because only one third of the trail at the bottom. Some kind of repair work going on.
B K — Google review
This is a fantastic trail with so much packed into such a small area. There are multiple waterfalls, several areas to just wet your feet, no swimming allowed. The area is rather well shaded at mid day so it is a good place for short afternoon walk. It's not too difficult, but there are steps, lots of them and many are not even. There is a lot of slate so be careful on the slippery areas.
Charles L — Google review
The Cascadilla Gorge Trail at Cornell University is a short but stunning hike that plunges you into a world of waterfalls and dramatic rock formations. The trail climbs alongside Cascadilla Creek as it carves its way through the gorge, offering beautiful views. The trail itself is well-maintained, with stone steps and pathways that make it accessible for most people, though there are some steep sections to be aware of. The sound of the rushing water is constant and invigorating, and the cool mist in the air is especially welcome on a hot day. While the hike is relatively short, it's packed with natural beauty and provides a refreshing escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. It's a must-do for anyone visiting Cornell or the Ithaca area!
Tanzina H — Google review
Even though the trail was closed at the bridge, we still thought it was gorgeous. Visit in the fall if you can as it is the most beautiful. In any season though, it is worth a visit.
Christine G — Google review
It's a nice trail in the middle of Ithica. It's really easy to get to and very scenic. It's not a hard trail at all. Unfortunately part of the trail is blocked off. It looks like it was going to lead to a bridge. Unfortunately it wasn't assessable when I went.
Erik Z — Google review
When visit on September 1,2025 the trail was closed after the bridge!!! The stairs are gradual and it’s a beautiful scenic place!!
Angelo G — Google review
Short hike, part of the trail was closed and it's been dry so not a lot of flow. I still enjoyed it. Worth going.

Cornell University, established in 1865, is an Ivy League institution located near a picturesque lake. The campus boasts ornate buildings and offers breathtaking views of the McGraw Tower and rolling hills. The Statler Hotel at Cornell University provides luxurious accommodations with modern amenities like LCD TVs and coffee makers. Situated in Ithaca, New York, the city is renowned for its stunning gorges, waterfalls, and esteemed educational institutions including Cornell University and Ithaca College.
Came here for a campus visit with my son and was impressed with the remarkable campus and its facilities.
Eric H — Google review
It is one of the most beautiful universities I have been to. Looks like I am standing in the sky watching downside hills, rivers , buildings; also like standing on the buildings hundreds years ago, feels how the past people think and learn in the university. The waterfalls is great to watch and it’s free parking after 5pm. The only bad thing is that when I am passing the walking road , one young people just drive until he sees me , and yell on me which is his fault not yield on the walkers on the yielding sign of walkers. Be careful if you walk over there , seems some young divers there is careless driving.
Hills L — Google review
A quiet, historic campus perched on a hill above the small town of Ithaca. The stone buildings are beautiful but feel a bit tired—roads are rough, parking is a nightmare, and the campus, while scenic, feels somewhat isolated and less alive than other major universities. Highlights: • Uris & Andrew D. White Library: Gorgeous, especially the cast-iron stacks in White Library. Feels like walking into a magical archive. • Sage Chapel: Breathtaking interior. We walked in as a student practiced Bach on an instrument that looked like a piano but sounded like a pipe organ—absolutely heavenly. • Café Jennie: Tucked inside the Cornell Store. Great macaroons, cozy atmosphere, and shelves of books by Cornell authors. • Morrison Dining Hall: Modern, clean, with a good pasta bar. • Cornell Dairy Bar: A hidden gem for fresh, creamy ice cream. Worth a visit for the views, the libraries, and the intellectual charm—but be ready for hills, potholes, and a sense of quiet detachment.

The Sciencenter is a dynamic children's museum that offers an immersive experience in the world of science and nature. With over 250 interactive exhibits, including stations dedicated to air, pressure, motion, and water, the two-story museum provides hands-on learning opportunities for kids of all ages. The institution also boasts a seasonal outdoor science playground, the Sagan Planet Walk, an 18-hole mini-golf course, and a gift shop.
Loved this place. Not just fun for children but good for the adults as well. Very informative and interactive at the same time. Will be coming here again as the weather warms. It has indoor and outdoor activities. Sorry I o lying got photos of animals. Will update when we go again.
Chris O — Google review
Wonderful and very interactive place for young kids. Lots to play indoor and outdoor. Good learning opportunity for kids with interactive exhibits. Plenty of parking spaces. They also have mini golf which is a separate cost than the science center fee. Not too far from the downtown area.
Rohit S — Google review
We brought our family with two kids and a teenager, and it was a great experience. We spent about an hour and a half exploring, but honestly could have stayed longer—there was plenty to do. The kids loved the hands-on activities and creative play areas, and even our teen stayed engaged with the interactive exhibits. Overall, it’s a fun and educational way to spend an afternoon together. Highly recommend for families looking for something both entertaining and meaningful.
Chena T — Google review
We had a fantastic family visit to the Sciencenter in Ithaca, NY! It’s one of those places where both kids and adults can learn and have fun at the same time. The interactive exhibits kept all of us engaged, and the reptile pets were definitely a highlight — our kids loved seeing them up close and learning about them. We also attended a special event on wildfires, which was well organized and educational. The kids came away with a real understanding of how wildfires start. It was hands-on, informative, and perfectly suited for all ages. Overall, this is a wonderful spot for families to spend a few hours exploring, learning, and having fun together. Highly recommended!
Sundeep V — Google review
Highly recommended for children. It’s an immersive learning experience for all the kiddos exploring science. It’s built as an experience so you can enjoy your trip to the fullest. Please pack snacks as you will want to stay 2-3 hours. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Special shout out to the reptile keeper who kept us entertained by feeding all reptiles including a python.
Maria Z — Google review
OH. MA. GAWD!! This place was INCREDIBLE!! Of everything we have done with my kids all summer, THIS place was an absolute favorite!! We drove from an hour and 40 minutes away and it was 1000% worth it. We spent nearly all day here. We arrived a little after 12 and didnt leave until after 4, and the kids were NOT ready to go. The amount of exhibits this facility has is insane! And the things to do were endless. And.. these were not just regular "exhibits". I LOVED the variety and ALL the interactive aspects. You had everything from weather and tornados, to light reflection, sound waves, bubbles, robotics, and LIVE ANIMALS. (Just to name a FEW). The touch tank was incredible!! A favorite for sure! And the outdoor "tree house" with all the musical instruments and climbing was such a wonderful area for my two sons who both have SPD to just go wild. Building the damn was super fun, despite up not being able to get it 100% right! Haha. I was incredibly impressed with the size as well. It was massive compared to other museums and interactive science centers we have been to thus far. Initially I was worried about that, given the distance and drive, but we we not disappointed at all! I thought the community room filled with portraits and information on those who navigated the science world to be a wonderful and educational touch. I also appreciated the fact that bathrooms were everywhere in the facility, especially for those of us navigating several children at once, its such a relief not having to run all over trying to get kids to the restroom. We 100% will be coming back again!!
Brittany H — Google review
The kids love sciencenter. It has activities for all age groups especially little ones. It is one of the best places in Ithaca to take the kids to for a fun day of exploration and learning.

Have you not been to Science Center yet? What are you waiting for? Honestly the membership is worth it! My child and I enjoy visiting the Science Center and checking out all the different stations they have for exploring. We especially live the reptile and fish friends they have on display. This is a great place for children to begin their science curiosities and imagination play! We also love the outdoor play area!! S9luch a fun place!

Nature & Parks
Nestled in 811 acres of lush wooded parkland, Buttermilk Falls State Park offers a plethora of outdoor recreational opportunities. The park features hiking paths, a serene lake, a stunning waterfall, and well-equipped campgrounds for nature enthusiasts. Located just 10 minutes away from the Robert H. Treman State Park area, Buttermilk Falls is often considered even more picturesque than its renowned neighbor.
Beauty around every corner. The gorge trail starts with a ton of stairs, but there are 2 falls just on the way up. The climb is worth the view. There are multiple falls along the trail all relatively close giving you amazing photo opportunities. There is a swimming area at the bottom of the falls right near the parking area and restrooms. There are also camping and picnicking areas. This is one of my favorite waterfall trails out of the many in the area
David N — Google review
I came here with a couple friends while visiting from out of state. The waterfall system was pretty cool to see and the trail was well maintained. There are some wetter spots on the trail from the falls and plenty of stairs, so I'd be mindful of these things as you traverse it. It's a cool spot that plenty of people were seeming to enjoy. There are also trails leading off the falls if someone wanted to hike longer and I thought that was cool. 5 stars from me!
Adam M — Google review
This is a nice well-kept state park much like many of the New York State parks we visited. Unfortunately at the time we visited (early August 2025), there wasn’t enough rain in the past few days which resulted in just a trickle to be seen on the main falls. But the staff was very helpful in guiding us to the Gorge Trail from the Lower Park area (main area) to see the other falls and pools. It is a hike up with trail and steps of about 1/2 mile and you can see 5-6 smaller waterfalls which look great. The main falls at the parking area also has a nice pool area - clean and clear water.
Anand S — Google review
A beautiful park with a waterfall. Ideal for families wanting to enjoy a picnic or do camping. Great outdoor activities for kids. Lots of cabins built inside the park for families to book and enjoy. 10 USD Vehicle entry and parking fee. Loved the beauty of the place.

Buttermilk Falls is absolutely stunning! The trails are well-marked and offer something for everyone — from easy scenic walks to more adventurous hikes with beautiful waterfall views at every turn. The cascading falls and natural pools look like something out of a postcard, and the sound of the water is so peaceful. The park is clean, family-friendly, and perfect for a summer swim or a quiet nature escape. Don’t forget your camera — every corner is photo-worthy. Definitely one of the most beautiful spots in New York!

Beautiful spot! The waterfall is stunning and the short trail gives you great views from both the top and bottom. Easy to reach, well maintained, and perfect for a peaceful nature stop.

Not far from Ithaca! Great hiking trails with amazing views of waterfalls and rock formations carved by the stream. Not as long as Watkins Glenn’s so it’s perfect for a quick hike.

Wow! These Falls are absolutely stunning! The Hike up to the top has a lot of stairs. However it has places to sit and rest. We went early to avoid crowds and it does have crowds. I felt safe hiking even though a few spots didn’t have railings. It’s well worth the climb and it’s dog friendly !

Gardens
Cornell Botanic Gardens, established in 1875, spans over 4,000 acres and features specialty gardens, an arboretum, and educational programs. The gardens have partnered with other organizations to launch a website called Out on the Trails at IthacaTrails.org. This GPS-enabled site maps all the trails in Tompkins County and allows users to search based on their desired experience such as distance, difficulty level, scenic views, wildlife viewing opportunities, or picnic spots.
Formerly known as the Cornell Plantations and consisting of 25 acres, Cornell Botanic Gardens is one of the most popular attractions around Ithaca and has something for everyone, which is why my partner, his family, and I came for a visit on this beautiful Saturday. Located in the center of the Cornell University campus, but also including the adjoining F.R. Newman Arboretum and over 3,500 acres of natural areas, there were hiking trails, nature walks, gardens, ponds, woodlands, meadows, glens, waterfalls, fens, bogs, and, of course, “gorges.” The well-kept gardens were easy to access, easy to walk around, and were extremely quiet. It’s very kid- and pet-friendly. The historic core revolves around the herb and perennial garden. Admission is FREE, but one does need to pay a parking fee to enter the park on weekdays. It runs you $1.50 per hour, so it's exceptionally reasonable, but it's free on weekends. We enjoyed our drive through the campus to get to the botanic garden, which we can recommend.
Eloy Y — Google review
It was nice. Unfortunately we were there after a rain storm and the blooms were off the trees. The grounds are well kept and clean. The paths are nice and wind around so you can see the gardens from many different vantage points.
Terrance H — Google review
Absolutely loved it! What a great place to have in the city. With the arboretum, it's huge and you can walk in the nice climate of the trees even in warm weather for hours. This was the highlight of our trip in NY.
Tomáš G — Google review
You simply must not miss these gardens, as they are truly remarkable in every aspect. I especially enjoyed the fragrant herb garden. Furthermore, I greatly appreciate the immense history that permeates the campus.
Judy R — Google review
The botanic gardens are just beautiful! It was free to enter, we just paid a minimal fee to park using a QR code. We went to the herb garden near the center and the flowers were gorgeous. Lots of pollinators there too. Then we drove to the sculpture garden, pond, and overlook. The wildflower section didn't have much this time of year but it was a pretty forrest walk. Loved it!
Amy J — Google review
Wonderful layout garden that so rich in knowledge. My personal favorites are the fragrance plants and eatables. Wish there were samples that offer smells, and Tastes
Keqi G — Google review
A beautiful space for walking through very well maintained gardens. The main parking lot does fall under Ithaca's paid parking system, but weekends, evenings, and holidays have free parking. The Mullestein Garden is especially lovely in the depths of winter when the rest of the outdoors is cold and gray.
Robert D — Google review
Cornell Botanic Gardens is not your typical manicured botanical garden—it's more like an extension of the natural forest surrounding Cornell University. The highlight here is the walking trails, which feel like you're exploring a peaceful woodland rather than a traditional flower-focused garden. Nestled in the heart of the university, the trails are well-kept, relaxing, and perfect for families, students, or anyone looking for a scenic walk. If you’re expecting endless rows of exotic flowers, you may be surprised—but if you enjoy nature, quiet trails, and a serene atmosphere

Ithaca Children's Garden (ICG) is a captivating three-acre public park nestled in Cass Park. It features an array of enchanting attractions, including the Gaia turtle sculpture, a bulb labyrinth, bird garden, recycled bottle greenhouse, straw-bale troll house, and a fragrant kitchen garden with hens and honeybees. The Hands-on-Nature Anarchy Zone offers interactive experiences for visitors of all ages.
This is great place to take both young and old. The times I've been there have been very pleasent. The garden is nice to look at and all of the little things in and around it are entertaining. Children are often playing games or just walking through with their parents. I recommend the Ithaca children's garden to people with children in their lives and or just people that have an inner child.

It's sad to see how neglected a nice a beautiful place can be. It's still nice see the plants, the sandbox, the big turtle, etc. But the general appearance is of is abandoned. The worst part are is what was supposed to be w playground with slides: the worst shape ever.

What a wonderful place to spend a few hours with your family and grandchildren. Plenty to see and do. Children can climb crawl, swing and run. Plenty.of plants and sections to see on a 3 acre park and it's FREE!

Oh, this place brings back so many memories. My mom would save up her paychecks to drive out to the children's garden and we would spend a whole day there. 10 years ago, it was much smaller yet it was still absolutely beautiful. Now, there are so many expansions and great places for little ones to expand their creativity! I have a 3 year old brother and he was in awe, running around trying to do a little of everything. I love it here!!!!!

A fun place where Kids and Dogs (On a leash) can enjoy building forts, tend to the huge fruit & vegetable garden and pretend throughout the Garden. There's a Giant Turtle that they can climb on. Lots of trails through Flower gardens. Signs explain what they are seeing. Frog pond where Kids can scoop out tadpoles. A special place for Adults too!

Great place for family with kids to walk around and enjoy nature. My kids enjoy exploring through the garden. Also meeting big turtle and running around was good! Place is awesome for nature lovers!

Several picnic tables have been added recently. A yurt is under construction! If you need a bathroom, they are open seasonally just north of the garden next to the picnic pavilion and small more traditional playground just north of the garden.

Buttermilk Falls is a picturesque state park located near Ithaca, featuring a stunning 165-foot cascading waterfall that resembles buttermilk flowing down the rock face. The Gorge Trail offers an immersive hiking experience, leading visitors through the heart of the gorge alongside Buttermilk Creek, passing by several large cascading falls and offering scenic views. The park also boasts nine other waterfalls accessible via the gorge trail.
I was there twice. On August 9th, 2024, after heavy storm, the water flow was CRAZY. Of course no swimming allowed with that strong current, but the gorge trail was beautiful, and Park was open includes bathroom, although a storm warning was still in effect. There is a nice playground across the small bridge where kids who can't do the gorge trail, can stay with a parent. The gorge trail is full of stairs, was beautiful after the heavy storm. There is away to go back without using the stairs again but also almost without any attractive view. There is a road that reaches the top of the trail, but I'm not sure if the public has access to it. I was back there a week later. The fall was completely different, and swimming was allowed. I didn't go up again the gorge trail, so not sure how it looks without a lot of water.
Jay K — Google review
Buttermilk falls goes on forever with many stunning views as you ascend beside the falls. There are a lot of stairs, so the hike can be strenuous. There were many places my kids ventured into the water to wade or go under a portion of the falls, which is always a plus for us.

Buttermilk Falls is pure magic 🌊🍃. The refreshing swim beneath the cascading falls and the scenic trail up the falls made my visit unforgettable 🏞️✨. Beautifully maintained and full of charm—a true hidden treasure 🌟.
Raghav — Google review
The trail is a bit strenuous as the first stretch is uphill with many steps, but if you can manage, totally worth it. The falls are stunning, there's even a little cabin style hut along the trail. Highly recommend if you love Nature hikes (and chasing waterfalls) like me!
Valerie M — Google review
Be aware that the gorge trail is CLOSED these days. We just took a peak at the falls from the parking lot.
JitkaKac — Google review
The waterfalls just keep going! You can see so many beautiful falls in a short distance. If you don't want to walk far you can see the main falls from the car park and enjoy the picnic area there. However, I strongly recommend waking at least 10 minutes up the (many, many, many!!) steps beside the falls to see more. Your legs might want to stop but your eyes won't. Currently off-season so no entry fee (I think between mid- Oct and May)
S G — Google review
I thought this was a really cute waterfall! The water was crazy😍 (no swimming allowed at the moment) We did see some snakes!

I remember visiting Buttermilk Falls as a kid and the memories came flooding back on our recent visit. There are many trails throughout the park to explore. In the summertime, there is a nice swimming area at the base of the falls.

Triphammer Falls is a stunning 55-foot waterfall located on the campus of Cornell University in Ithaca. It's conveniently situated near the Cornell Botanic Gardens, offering visitors a perfect opportunity to immerse themselves in nature while staying close to the city center. The falls are easily accessible for all, with sidewalks and bridges providing excellent vantage points. Originally a natural feature, Triphammer Falls was slightly modified to create the dam that now forms Beebe Lake.
Absolutely beautiful. I didn't know waterfalls were so loud! So cool to see in person. The campus is beautiful to see too! Definitely expect to get wet from the mist!

Hemant P — Google review
What an absolute treasure of a place! I had heard people talk about how beautiful this waterfall is, but nothing really prepares you for the first moment you lay eyes on it. The journey to get there is half the fun: a winding trail through tall trees, the ground covered in leaves, and the sound of rushing water getting louder with every step. You can feel your anticipation building until suddenly you round a corner and there it is—tall, powerful, and absolutely majestic. The water seems to fall endlessly, hitting the rocks below with an energy that is both powerful and calming at the same time. I loved how the mist created little rainbows when the sunlight broke through the trees—absolutely magical! The whole atmosphere feels untouched, pure, and far away from the chaos of daily life.

Museums
The Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art, designed by I.M. Pei, is a distinctive tower housing a diverse collection from ancient Roman sculptures to 21st-century photography. Commissioned in 1968 by Cornell University, the museum serves as both an educational facility and cultural center. Recently, it has been transformed into additional classroom space for the university's Department of Art to accommodate social distancing measures.
Definitely a must see while in Ithaca for 4 reasons: 1. It's free! Donations always welcome. 2. Diverse collection of works. BC to modern! 3. Stunning views of Ithaca, the lake, and the surrounding area from the 5th floor 4 . The architecture! Clean and elegant concrete facade and interior. The design actually took into consideration not to block the views of others not in the building. My favorite was the spiral staircase! 2 issues: 1. Parking close by might pose a problem. 2. No gift shop. I would have loved to have purchased books and prints of some of the featured collections.
Nicky S — Google review
Free museum, with elevator access to about four floors of art. Some of the art displayed great talent, well most of the art was more eclectic, creative, or beauty in the eye of the beholder. There are many items being displayed. I feel like if someone not artistically gifted I could have made myself. Understand understanding my ability with art makes me feel that these aren't necessarily worthy for placement in the art museum but I understand that is a personal opinion and the beauty of our is in the eye of the beholder and the artist. there were several different periods of time represented and I enjoyed that variety. They also had a hands-on textiles display that is one for kids and adults are like. Everly also enjoyed the view from the top floors of the entire campus. That was just as valuable as enjoying all of the art pieces. my group spent about 2 1/2 hours here.
Lisa J — Google review
Masters, students, ancient artifacts, modern media, and everything in between. I was pleasantly surprised by this place. I expected only some modern art but it's a world class collection. The representation of different cultures/places, time periods, and materials is amazing. I highly recommend going here even if it's out of the way of your plans. There are even some great views of the city and surrounding mountains and adjacent lake. There's also an outdoor deck area with light-art on the ceiling and benches designed for lounging to look up at it. The architecture is also striking and memorable. A must-see finger lakes experience, and it's free!
RJ L — Google review
Even the architecture of this museum, including its relatively recent addition, is art! But the permanent collections and rotating exhibits really makes a place. There’s something for everyone, including modern photography and ancient artifacts. Views around the Cornell campus and City of Ithaca are exceptional.

A must-visit when you're in Ithaca. On weekends, parking is free. The views from the upper floor are stunning! The collection is great too.
Simon W — Google review
Fun museum at Cornell, multiple floors of art. Elevator was broken while there so you had to take a couple flights of stairs. No water allowed inside the museum, must leave it at the front. There is security walking around. Offers tours as well. Parking is limited, only a few spots with paid parking outside and then you need to register inside too. Very interesting place. Fun free thing to do
Caitlyn A — Google review
Really beautiful small museum. The light show on the roof of the deck is awesome, though I'm not sure what time of year to visit so they're open to view it after dark (which I think was the artist's intent). Wonderful collection all around, definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.
Ean M — Google review
Wish I had more time exploring museum’s collections, but I was within 20 mins of closing time. Grateful to the stuff they still let me in. I have rushed to 5th floor to check out Cornell’s surroundings from wraparound galleries, gorgeous views of the lake and campus. The floor has beautiful collection of Asian art. Note that suspension bridge path over Horseshoe Falls starts almost next to museum. Hence, that’s where I headed after the museum. Review would have been 5 stars if museum closing times were at 5pm.

Attended the Jay and Silent Bob Aural Sects Tour here, the theater was beautiful and comfortable. Easy to find, but finding parking was a little difficult. The theater itself is historic, from a time when vehicles weren't very common. I'd imagine theatre goers back then walked, or were dropped off.. which is still so cool, but I wasn't aware of the lack of parking until I arrived.

State Theater in Ithaca, NY is a great venue for shows and as of December 6, 2024, they are celebrating their 96th year! The opening act was Steve Leonard who is currently a bassist with the headlining group Almost Queen. The current drummer for Almost Queen also sat in as Steve's drummer and did a great job. This was the first time seeing Almost Queen which I learned have been around for over 20yrs! They have a great interactive show which kept the audience engaged, singing and dancing right along to the great hits that we all know and love. A must see tribute group to see when they come to or close to your area.

Awesome old time theater to see a concert! Not a bad view in the place!
Denise M — Google review
Not a great venue for a concert. We went up to the balcony thinking it was similar to a house of blues show where all spaces are GA before being kicked out of our seats. We were able to go up the stairs and grab seats without ushers checking us which meant we got there early only to get booted to the back of the GA seats downstairs. Additionally, bathroom and bar lines were super long. Hopefully won't have to come here again for a show.
Ryan H — Google review
Band was excellent and concessions were reasonably priced. However- HUGE fire and safety hazard. Tickets were sold as GA with seats being first come first served, advertised as no standing room. The band we were there for is normally standing room only but whatever; we were fine with having seats. Small orchestra area they allowed people to stand in, also whatever, we grabbed seats a few rows back. People filled in the aisle once the small standing area was full, effectively blocking any exit from the seats, and this was allowed and got worse for the entirety of the show. Thermostat showed 82% humidity and the theatre was unbearably hot for the majority of the show (probably partly due to people packing into the aisle). At least if a venue is all standing, you can move back if it gets too crowded. With the seat situation and them allowing the aisles to be full, there was No Option of moving further back.

Just completed the tour. A very entertaining and informative experience. The tour guides, Sherry and Ben (my apologies if I’ve messed up their names), were simply terrific. The two folks who remained in character who followed us throughout were very fun and enjoyably creepy. This was the perfect combination of fun and education, with the right dose of a little scary. Cannot recommend this enough to learn about some of the more grisly aspects of Ithaca folklore . The museum, too, was very nice and a good setup for the tour itself.

It is a wonderful library unfortunately it has become more of a homeless shelter than a library. You have to compete with the homeless people who wait at the door at 9 AM to get the best and quietest places so they could sleep all day. I stopped in the other day Because I had some Reports to write and I was looking for a quiet spot. Each area I want to be a homeless person was sleeping or a small group or gathered chitchatting away. It’s disappointing to see an Narcan machine in a public library when I spoke with the security guard, I could Tell his frustration with the situation. He said, unfortunately, the new director has labeled the library as a safe place for all homeless and drug addicts. A library is meant for the public to use as a resource not to Shelter, homeless people

I love this place. The children's section is large and diverse, the teen section has a great variety, and both sections have fun and comfortable places to sit and read or play games and do puzzles. The librarians and staff are also super sweet and helpful. And, for those wondering, the teen section has a LOT of places for teens to plug in their phones and devices. The children's room also has a sensory section where you can pick up earmuffs, fidgets, and weighted lap pads.

Needed a pit stop for the bathroom and just to rest and recharge. I was amazed at the book selection and sheer size of this library. The staff was so friendly as well.
Jordan V — Google review
Well, the first thing that one immediately notices when they walk into the library is that there are no clerks up front anymore. That area of the library used to be so active, now it looks barren and desolate. I hope they put something in it's place. It also seems to me when I go into the library to pick up my holds that there are fewer patrons than ever before. It has essentially become a self service library. I can pick up my holds and check them out without dealing with any staff members. I find this both convenient and unsettling. It is still a beautiful looking library and it's air conditioned as well. The older staff and a few of the newer staff members like Kat and Steve are very friendly and helpful. The security guards are great, of course. The new self checkouts look very nice. I still go in there, since I am an avid reader. I understand the need for change, and I also know that some of these changes are due to the new technology RFID, but I can't say I approve of the direction the library is going in. I still love the library but with all of the changes and all of the older staff that have left it feels like a much different and not necessarily better place than before.

Wells Falls, also known as Businessmans Lunch Falls, is a hidden gem in Ithaca that shouldn't be overlooked. Located along Six Mile Creek just a short distance from downtown Ithaca, this 35-foot waterfall cascades down several tiers, creating a picturesque sight. It's part of the Six Mile Creek Natural Area and sits adjacent to an abandoned mill that nature has almost entirely reclaimed.
Wells Falls was our first walk in Ithaca and it didn't disappoint. You must be careful and able to do a little bit of scrambling. The view from the falls area is remarkable with the old buildings there. A short but steep downhill walk to the bottom of the gorge was well worth it. You are near the road, but it feels as though you are in a very remote area. Really cool spot.
Mary M — Google review
Worth the stop when in the area. The falls are across the street from the parking area (you'll see a sign at the trail). The remains of the pump house are pretty cool, especially how they built brick around the rocks. There is a sign at the trail entrance letting you know that it's okay to walk and breathe, but not much else 😂.

Aka Businessman's Lunch Falls. Park in the small lot for Mulholland Wild Flower Preserve and walk across the bridge, enter from opposite side of bridge. Steep, short walk to the bottom of the falls so it might not be for everyone and good footwear is a must. The powerhouse ruin at the fall is very cool. Top portion is a dam and lower section is natural falls. Running hard on May 11, 2025.
Ingrid H — Google review
Incredibly gorgeous. I’m a sucker for ruins in nature. Quick to get to, the sound of the water drowned out any traffic noise so I felt completely immersed in nature though it’s just on the side of the road. You do need to be able to use your hands and balance to scramble down the rocks, but fairly easy. Kids may need help going down, especially if heading down more than the first level, but can also observe from the roadside or even the top of the path. I did go a bit further down, to the pools below the ruins and stuck my feet in. A little chilly in October but to be expected. Thought about wading across but algae/moss on the rocks was very slippery, would have wanted a walking stick or shoes with good grip for that. Seemed like there was a way to go farther down to the left but didn’t explore that, I ate my lunch there and had plenty to contemplate for a couple hours just sitting there. Please pack out any trash, not much was there, but a couple drinks had been left and forgotten. You will need both hands to get down there, so bring some sort of bag if packing a picnic. Wonderfully sunny at lunchtime, the trick was finding a place to sit without the sun in my eyes. Did find it though!

BEAUTIFUL!! park at mulholland wildflower preserve, walk back up and left across the bridge. make a right down the hillside, after the bike parking. its steep but incredibly manageable if youre in average shape. The path hooks to the right , to the base of the falls. what a beautiful spot!

This place is an amazing spot for nature enthusiasts that want to go back in time and experience a beautiful deep gorge with a historic waterfall on the background!!!
Angelo G — Google review
Very steep but not a long walk from the road. There is a giant drop off in the water. There is also huge flat slate rocks that cut off the water, especially by the end of the water. There are also several jump spots but be careful since the sites are small.
Kaleem J — Google review
A picturesque waterfall hugging a very cool abandoned building. The trail to get down to it isn't too steep, and you can reach the waterfall in only two or three minutes from the road.

Ithaca Falls Trail is a short but rewarding nature escape located near Cornell University in Ithaca. The trail offers picturesque views of the 156-foot waterfall and takes visitors through lush greenery, ancient bedrock, and serene winter landscapes. Despite its proximity to downtown Ithaca, the trail provides a tranquil retreat with minimal effort required. Visitors can enjoy stunning vistas from a bridge and get up close to the majestic falls while being surrounded by natural beauty.
Absolutely loved this place! Walking up the gorge was my favourite. Absolutely stunning place :)

If you're looking for a very simple, easy-to-enjoy trail down into a gorge that is in the middle of the city of Ithaca, where you can skip rocks across water at length and enjoy the meditative nature of a waterfall, then you have found it in Ithaca Falls Trail. Take your family there. Take your small children there. It is very safe and fun. Just make sure nobody goes in the water. If you go here, please enjoy it and keep it clean, leaving no trash behind and no waste of any creature, including your dog.

The falls is so awesome! This is a very easy and short trail. While it is an easy trail, I would still recommend hiking shoes or sneakers that have good grip. The stones that you would walk on could be wet so just for protection and stability, wear good shoes. Came early in the morning so it was still not crowded. Beautiful scenery for pictures!
Pnuqsb — Google review
The parking lot is close by. Small number of spots available at the upper and lower lots. Be aware of the potholes going into the lot. They are huge and really are hard on your car.

Absolutely beautiful! Definitely you need to stop and check out all the beautiful waterfalls in Ithaca NY
Gillian — Google review
Nice falls with only an short, easy walk to it. Dogs seem to be accepted as long as they are on leases. Be cautious about parking in lot across the street. Apparently it's a permitted lot. No signs that I saw, but all cars there had permit stickers on their windshields.
MITCH C — Google review
Absolutely beautiful waterfall tucked away in the middle of town. Breathtaking surprise when you walk down a very short footpath to the rocky creek bed. You can get quite close to the falls if you keep walking.

I’ve seen a lot of waterfalls recently and this might be my favorite. Very easy to get to. Stunning falls and tons of places to sit.

Southern Tier Balloon Tours offers a once-in-a-lifetime experience to have the best view of Ithaca. The crew is described as friendly, professional, and efficient, making passengers feel safe and comfortable throughout the journey. Passengers have praised the smooth handling of the entire experience from travel-to-launch, preparation, flying to landing. The pilot provided a fun and varied flight with breathtaking views. Despite initial fears of heights, passengers felt at ease after takeoff and enjoyed the gorgeous scenery.
What was originally my birthday gift, became a 4x rescheduled weather waiting game, but 1000% worth the six month wait. I would do this all over ina heartbeat. Dar was an amazing tour guide. His team was great! We were coming four hours away to make this trip and I would do it all over again! This was hands down one of the best experiences I’ve ever done. It was serene. So glad we were able to make this happen. Best rec would be to book in the spring/summer, because it is very weather dependent: cold, windy, wet, snowy, all of the above could cause for cancellation. We finally got to go in April and it was beyond beautiful. Thank you thank you thank you!
Molly L — Google review
Dar and his crew were wonderful. We were kept up to date on any weather updates ahead of time and everything was explained step by step as soon as we arrived to the time we landed. The views were absolutely amazing and they had a variety of drinks to toast the ride afterwards. Highly recommend!
Traci R — Google review
From the moment we arrived at the launch site, the entire hot air balloon experience was nothing short of spectacular. The crew was professional, friendly, and clearly passionate about what they do, which immediately put us at ease. The views were absolutely breathtaking. Drifting over the landscape, with 360-degree views stretching for miles, gave us a peaceful yet exhilarating sense of freedom. We even spotted deer below, which added a magical touch. Dar’s expert narration enriched the journey, sharing fun facts and pointing out landmarks as we soared through the sky. The landing was smooth—skillfully and safely handled—and the charming post-flight toast was the perfect way to end such a memorable experience.
Ronda R — Google review
Dar and his crew were amazing and far exceeded our expectations. From the directions ahead of time, the quick set up and explanations, relaxing and professional attitude mid flight to the end of flight celebration- it was all fabulous! Any nerves that we may have had were gone immediately upon arrival!

We had an awesome experience with Southern Tier Balloon Tours! Dar was a true professional and made the entire flight feel safe and enjoyable. The views of Ithaca and the surrounding area were absolutely stunning. We’re already looking forward to flying again this fall!

An Unforgettable Evening in the Skies with Pilot Dar & team!✨ We had the most incredible experience with Southern Tier Balloon Tours during our 6 PM flight yesterday, and we’re still floating from the magic of it all! From the moment we arrived, the team made us feel welcome and excited — and a huge shoutout to our amazing pilot, Dar, who made the entire journey feel smooth, safe, and truly special. His calm, knowledgeable presence and great sense of humor added so much to the experience. As we floated over Ithaca, the views were absolutely breathtaking — golden hour casting a warm glow over the lakes and hills, making everything feel surreal and peaceful. It was a once-in-a-lifetime kind of moment, and Dar made sure we soaked in every bit of it. If you’re thinking about doing a hot air balloon ride, do it — and if you’re lucky enough to fly with Dar, even better! Thank you Southern Tier Balloon Tours Team for a memory we’ll never forget. – Mel & Ayana, Binghamton 🎈🌅✨

We had an unforgettable experience with STBalloon! From booking to setup to touchdown, this was hands down one of the most magical things we’ve ever done. The crew was professional, friendly, and clearly passionate about what they do—which made the whole adventure feel safe and smooth the entire time. Helping with inflating the balloon was a cool in itself. Once we loaded up & lifted off, it was pure peace!Floating quietly over the Finger Lakes, taking it all in, the fields, the water, the shadow of the balloon dancing below us... it was like stepping out of time for a bit. Also? That moment when you’re looking straight up into the balloon and seeing all those colors, and watching the burner flame. Wild. Just wild! Dar is like the human Atlas Obscura 😂 which makes the whole vibe that much better. If you're even thinking about doing this, stop thinking and just book it. You won’t regret it 🤙🏽 Huge thanks to Dar & the team at STBalloon for helping us check something off the bucket list in the best way possible. We will absolutely be visiting again!

I wish there was a 4.x you could click on, as nothing is perfect. First, I recommend this company. Yes the flight was awesome. The landing was perfect - really. The crew friendly and helpful. And here it comes, but the online booking led me to believe there would be two balloons with moderate size groups. The reality was one balloon and a very full basket. So, the expectation of ease of movement and comfort was not met. There was whispered apprehension at the beginning about this from a few different people. However, the riders were all cordial, worked together, and communicated different sightings of deer, locations, and people on the ground waving at us. All-in-all, we had a very positive and wonderfully memorable experience during our smooth ride across Cayuga Lake, Ithaca, and the countryside. We took the evening flight so after landing and toasting and helping stow gear, the full, harvest moon rose to anoint our ride. Other items of interest: Dar and the company communicate well. Meeting times and places provided in advance. Procedures for entering and exiting the basket as well as landing positions were handled easily. And during the flight we received tidbits about the sights in the area and some local “things to do.”

When you're in need of shipping, packaging, printing, or office supplies while on the go, consider visiting The UPS Store. They offer a range of services including passport photo assistance and timely delivery options for important documents. Despite some challenges like long lines and limited space at certain locations, many customers appreciate the helpful and friendly staff. Overall, it's known for providing top-notch service with guaranteed on-time deliveries and a pleasant experience when dropping off packages.
This family run little store was a LIFE SAVER for my family! We needed to ship my daughter’s belongings home from school (on Memorial Day weekend!). The woman and man who were there were so helpful and kind. They truly appreciate their customers and the students in the community. I HIGHLY recommend this place!
R. M — Google review
The worst UPS store. They only care about customers who spend money directly at their store, not those who have prepaid shipments through the official UPS website. I had three large, fully packed boxes with prepaid UPS shipping labels. Due to road construction, the driver couldn’t reach me and advised me to drop off at a nearby store. However, when I arrived at this location, they refused to accept my prepaid packages. They told me that this store only provides shipping services and doesn’t accept drop-offs, claiming they needed to keep the space for their “customers.” And clearly, I wasn’t considered one. I trusted their explanation, carried over 120 pounds of packages back home, confused and frustrated. But when I contacted the official UPS customer support, they confirmed that this store’s behavior violates UPS policy. Any UPS store is supposed to accept prepaid packages. I’m deeply disappointed by this dishonest and unethical business practice. Following the advice of UPS customer support, I have filed a formal complaint.
Helin W — Google review
I came here to purchase USPS stamps and was charged $0.95 per domestic stamp and $3.50 per international stamp. For reference, the current USPS rates are $0.78 and $1.70. I understand that all UPS Store locations are independently owned and allowed to set their own prices for postage. However, there was no disclosure that these rates were significantly higher than standard USPS pricing. I only realized the markup afterward when I reviewed my receipt. While customers can technically ask about pricing in advance, most people reasonably assume postage will be sold at or near face value, especially at a UPS Store. In my view, this level of overcharging (more than 100% markup on international stamps) without clear notice is excessive and not transparent. The staff were polite and the store was clean, but this experience has unfortunately undermined my trust in UPS Stores overall, since any location can apply similar markups. If you want to avoid these surcharges, you are better off buying stamps directly from a USPS post office, the USPS website, or from the Cornell Store itself (they sell stamps, I found out later). Based on this experience, I would not return or recommend this location. I will personally use the USPS in Ithaca or the FedEx on Meadow Street for all boxes, shipping, and printing going forward. I have had good experiences, transparent/fair pricing, and guaranteed quality with them.

Went to the UPS store with convenience & friendly service expected. Instead, was confronted with a potential $1.50 charge to print 1 page QR to effectuate the Amazon return. Went to Staples to do the Amazon returns and they charged me 30 cents to do same plus spent 10 minutes helping me print & package. So, if you might need “extra” service avoid at any cost! Sometimes the Larger is Better!

Shipped a TV through these guys a few years ago. Packed in its original box. Paid for the shipping protection. I received the TV broken after obvious signs of mishandling. I tried to file a claim and was denied due to the TV not being packed by them. I wasn’t informed the insurance would be useless since UPS didn’t pack it, if I knew this I obviously wouldn’t have bought it. I even asked the young man (owner’s son?) if the insurance would cover damage and he confirmed. I was calling/emailing the shop to see what they could, even asked for a refund just on the shipping. Was ghosted and never heard back. Bad business.
Carlos G — Google review
Terrible experience. Late, unpunctual, and inconvenient. They were trying to sell me boxes that apparently weren’t even in stock in the store (I need specific dimensions for my items). Once I bought it already and got the receipt, they then realized they didn’t have it. They told me they would same-day deliver to my house later today. This was already really inconvenient since I need to pack early since I’m storing my items on a specific date and time and if I dont store it by then I can’t store it. That day they ended up never showing up. I had to call again and they said they could deliver it by tomorrow night. They never show up again. I had to call again in the morning on the day I was literally leaving and the day I needed to store my items. They finally deliver my items but it’s was too late and I could only store some stuff at the place I was storing my items. I passed the deadline and couldn’t store anymore stuff since the owner had left already. Now I’m forced to store my items at their location and pay them more money. In the end they had 3 days of no shows. I wish they would have just told me they didn’t have it so I could take my business elsewhere but instead they just charged me so I’m forced to wait for them.

I had a very upsetting experience here. I observed behavior from a staff member that I believe was discriminatory toward certain groups of people. This kind of treatment is unacceptable and needs to be addressed. I hope the business takes this seriously and ensures all customers are treated with respect.

Drasri was very nice , respectful humble and patient. She greeted me with a big smile eventhough it was almost closing time, waited for me and had me take my time to figure our my stuffs to return .She even wished the customers wife to feel better. I highly recommend this store. They look very busy but they still manage to accommodate you with eagerness. Great Job Drasri!!

Horseshoe Falls is a picturesque spot that offers stunning views and a pleasant walking path over a suspension bridge. Visitors can enjoy the sight of the falls from both the bridge and a short footpath leading to its base. The parking area, though somewhat challenging to find, provides easy access to this hidden gem. The 30-foot waterfall can be admired from various vantage points, making it an ideal stop for those exploring other nearby attractions.
Very pretty. You can take the gorge trail down to the river to view it.
Greg A — Google review
There's a bridge over the falls worth checking out. It moves! (Doesn't seem like it would, which is fun.). There is a small parking lot with a few spots (1 hr only) on fall Creek drive north of the bridge.
John H — Google review
Beautiful suspension bridge can be accessed via stairs close to Herbert Johnson’s museum. However the falls are right under the bridge and the falls you can see from it are Rocky falls. Safety net is encasing the whole bridge, so opportunities for taking good pictures of the gorge are limited.
Mike Z — Google review
Another truly beautiful falls, one of many in the Ithaca area. This bridge connects you from the northern section of Cornell University to the southern, one of the most breathtaking universities in the country.
Brent O — Google review
Parking is near an old hydroelectric plant off Falls Creek Drive. There are six parking spaces just off the road and right next to the pedestrian suspension bridge. The views are spectacular, but continue over the bridge and go to the right to follow the path on down the stairs to a small plaza near the waters edge. This gorge is Ithaca's well hidden secret!
Sean M — Google review
Beautiful falls, sadly cant get close to them, can view em from a small viewing area at the bottom of the trail. Short trail, lots of stairs, so if stairs give you trouble, this might not be the walk for you
Michael B — Google review
Worth a quick stop, but nothing super special. Bridge is cool, and plenty of street parking, but really just a quick walk over and back and you'll be done.
Alison Y — Google review
The bridge was nice, and the parking was hard to find. Views are nice as well. There is at least one emergency phone just in case, and also, security cameras at the entrance of the bridge. It did sway as others started walking on from the other end, so I'm sure in the wind it would sway more. Quick and nice stop on the way to other falls in the area and definitely worth the quick visit.

22Potter's Falls

Potter's Falls is a picturesque waterfall located in the Six Mile Creek Natural Area, offering a serene escape for nature enthusiasts. Accessible via the Greenway Trail and East Gorge Trail, it stands at 25 feet tall and is surrounded by lush greenery that transforms into vibrant hues during the fall season. While it's a popular spot for sunbathing, reaching the falls requires caution as some trails can be narrow and challenging, especially for inexperienced hikers.
These are nice falls, but be warned. Google maps will attempt to take you down six mile road. This road is closed off with a no trespassing sign as it leads to an Ithaca city building at the dam. From the bottom of that road there is a trail to the right behind the building that takes you past the dam and down towards the falls. This trail is narrow, very high off the ground and above the falls, and while usable, is probably not safe for unexperienced hikers, children, or pets. The other way to get to potters is to park at Mulholland and walk all the way up. They are nice falls for sure, but pick your path to them carefully based on your experience and comfort level.
Caleb V — Google review
One of the most serene and cleanest waterfalls in the region where you can almost swim.
Tanuj C — Google review
I wanted to visit the potters falls from the Mulholland Wildflower Preserve entrance thinking it’d be a quick hike. The trail was easy and pretty up to the point of second dam. On my way from the second dam to the potters falls, a 68% slope with tree roots is blocking the way. I climbed up thinking that it’d be the only hard part in the rest of the hike. After the incline, I encountered four or five huge trees that fell onto the trail blocking the way. The trail narrowed slowly to a tiny path, and with a drop on one side that would test if you’re afraid of heights. I hiked up to a point where the trail just vanished. Maybe it was blocked by another fallen tree. I turned back. When I’m back at the slope, it took me about five mins to get down since the tree roots and the rocks are making the slope really hard to get down. If you are thinking about seeing the potters falls, definitely come prepared. Hiking boots are recommended. I would also recommend bringing a pole. Plus, think twice if you are afraid of heights.

Great hike and pretty falls!
Greg A — Google review
Can someone please explain to me how to get there? I tried getting to the falls by hiking from the Mulholland Wildlife Preserve but a little bit past the second dam, the path became very dangerous and steep. When I tried going where google maps directed me, it took me somewhere the was illegal to park at or even nearby.
Guislen — Google review
Getting to the falls at dam was easy, which I at first mistook for Potter's. But I saw i had much further from the map and that where the hike got dangerous.
