Picture frame shop
Small Wonder Gallery & Frameshop, a family-run gallery established in 1984, is a year-round destination showcasing the works of New England and Maine artists. The gallery offers an impressive collection of decorative and fine art as well as top-notch custom framing services. Visitors have praised the personal touch provided by owner Elizabeth Valente Senders, who assists with art purchases and ensures excellent communication throughout the process. Customers have also appreciated the careful packaging and shipping of their artwork to various locations.
Quaint local gallery that has been in existence for many years. We enjoyed the personal relationship of the owner Elizabeth Valente Senders who assisted us in our recent purchases of art. We bought a small picture of a Puffin and the Portland Head Light. The communication before, during, and after the purchase was greatly appreciated. We had asked her to send our purchases a certain date as we were traveling. Elizabeth did exactly that and more ( the picture shipped was expertly packaged with bubble wrap and a box within a box. Well done. The gallery has a wide variety of art work . Highly recommend this gallery.

A marvelous gallery right on the waterfront. Nice selection of regional artists. The service was wonderful. During our visit we purchased two original pieces of art for our home, one of which was already framed. The larger piece needed to be framed and the person in the gallery helped us pick out something suitable along with a nice matting. It was shipped to our home three weeks later in some of the most secure packaging I've ever seen. Seriously, it took several minutes to unbox this piece of artwork, that's how much care the owner put into making sure it arrived undamaged. We will surely be returning to the gallery on our next trip to Maine.
Bob W — Google review
Wonderful gallery full of beautiful works of local artists. I purchased 3 pieces, they framed them beautifully and even provided a matching frame for a piece I had at home but wanted to hang with my new art. They graciously packaged and shipped my works to South Carolina without a hitch! We will be returning each trip from now on to build our collection.

They have framed several items for me just beautiful. They also have lots of Art fir sale, makes for a beautiful lifetime gift.

Canoe & kayak rental service
Maine Sport Outfitters offers a luxurious two-day paddling and pedaling adventure in and around the Penobscot Bay. Visitors have enjoyed guided kayak tours with knowledgeable guides who ensure safety and share interesting stories. The outfitter also provides E-bike rentals for exploring the Rockport and Camden areas, offering flexibility with 24-hour rentals. Additionally, they offer overnight trips with comfortable lodge stays and delicious lobster bakes, providing an unforgettable experience for visitors of all levels of experience.
I rarely leave reviews, but I had such an incredible experience with Maine Sports Outfitters that I felt I had to. I called the store just 12 minutes before they were set to close, asking if they had any golf shoes in stock. Justin, the owner, picked up and told me they did — but since I didn’t have enough time to get there before closing, I figured that was the end of it. Instead, he offered (completely unprompted) to swing by my hotel on his way home and drop them off. I’ve never had a brick-and-mortar store do anything like this. Sure enough, he pulled up in his truck not long after, bringing the golf shoes, gloves, and even a few golf balls for me to check out. When I asked if I could pay by card, he told me he didn’t have a reader on him — only cash. I didn’t have enough on hand and expected he’d just ask me to come by the shop tomorrow. But instead, he literally handed me the gear and said, “No worries, just swing by or call tomorrow and pay then.” I was genuinely shocked by the level of trust and hospitality. The next day, I called the shop, gave him my card over the phone, and that was that. No delivery fee, no pressure — just old-school trust and great customer service. Justin runs his business with the kind of integrity and friendliness that’s pretty much impossible to find these days. If you’re in the area, definitely check out Maine Sports Outfitters and support what he’s doing. You won’t regret it.

Harbor to harbor kayak tour. Wonderful time out on the water and were fortunate to see a bunch of seals, porpoises, ospreys, and a mated pair of eagles next to their nest. Slight drizzle but the wildlife made it all worthwhile. Our guide I think his name was Evan was fantastic

We had a great experience Kayaking with Bill in Camden, ME! He was very patient with us as beginner kayakers and was very knowledgeable about the area, the marine life, and keeping us safe while navigating between boats. Bill also instructed us to get into position for a picture in front of the light house! We would go on another trip with them in a heartbeat. Thanks to Bill for a great experience.
Briana L — Google review
People are courteous and helpful. It was a nice experience, great selections and varieties. I went in looking for a bargain with their sign stating 60% off, but only for shoes in the tent in the parking lot. Needless to say, disappointed. I still manage to spend 3 Benjamins in there.
Kin S — Google review
We stopped in on the whim.. And ended up leaving with two pair of fantastic shoes. Service was great from the staff and prices were reasonable. Great little stop
Jeffrey D — Google review
I love this store. The merch is pricey, but lasts forever. The best quality. Today, Dan helped me find the perfect waterproof running shoe. I also like that I earn points every time I shop here. The cash off rewards are sweet!
Jen B — Google review
Rented an E-bike here back in August and I had myself a perfect two days! Yes, 1 rental for 24 hrs 10am to 10am which allowed me plenty of time to explore the Rockport and Camden areas. I was able to also grab a glorious morning ride before I turned it back in. I kept the bike overnight, was provided a helmet and lock, the battery dismounts easily from the cradle and you can re-charge it! Game changer right there! Their price points were fair, the bike was quality, clean, and darn fast 💥 easy and quick check out, a safety inspection was done with me prior to departure! I highly recommend you do this...wanna feel 16 again?!
Richard W — Google review
What a great place and a great staff! They were super helpful and eager to answer any questions that we had about our float plan and our gear (such as when a wetsuit is helpful). We rented one sea kayak and one tandem kayak the night before, and then we got up early for a sunrise paddle on Penobscot Bay. There is nothing like it! Check the marine forecast (ideally the hourly wind forecast for the time of your trip would be less than 5 mph, the seas 2-3 feet, and the tide within an hour or two of high or low tide). Usually early in the day is better. You will have an amazing experience! We had such a great time that we had to buy a tandem kayak from them afterwards and keep exploring!

This charming old-fashioned store offers an array of treats including brittle, fudge, gourmet chocolates, gummies, licorice, lollipops, jelly beans, gumballs and taffy. Whether you're satisfying your own sweet tooth or treating the kids to a delightful experience of choosing their favorite candies from the vast selection available here.
Uncle Willy's candy shop pe is a staple stop while in Camden of you have kids and even if you don't! We good our kids $10 each and let them pick whatever they want. They usually about the great big bag of things that lasts them for a long time. Of course as parents we come out with our own bags as well. People are friendly and helpful, parking is along the street which can be challenging at certain times of the year but you'll always find a space within not too long of a time. Definitely worth a visit for young and old alike.

The owner was a really nice guy. They have a lot of selections, and the place is clean and organized. It was off season so it was slow, but still tons of candy in stock. Kind of on the expensive side, but most chocolate places are. On the road parking but spacious enough. Try the coconut chocolate called "the mount battie" absolutely delicious. Overall, 4 stars. Thank you for the great experience! ❤️
Tonia T — Google review
This was such a cute shop we absolutely loved loved loved it! Soooo many varieties of candies to choose from and look at. Brought back so many childhood memories looking through all the different types of candies. Pretty much any kind of sweet and candy you could think of it was there plus more. The chocolate sweets they made were lovely and all looked delicious we had a banana Carmel one and it was delicious so delicious and awesome looking. The other we had I cannot remember the name but I remember it had a peanut butter whisky in it and it was also delicious! Maybe it was called a screw ball! The owner was awesome and nice!

The store is clean! The choice of candy, is great! They have candy, that I haven't seen since I was a little girl. And that was a long time ago. The place is unique, it will take you back from when you were a child. It has candy from the past and candy of today. Fudge, to wrap candy. The staff is great also. I will definitely, come back again. 😊😊

Chocoholics delight. If you can't find your favorite candy here, rest assured it's not made anymore. It is worth the effort to leave main street and head about a block or two off the beaten path to check this store out.

Uncle Willy’s Candy Shoppe in Camden, Maine is the best & most gorgeous Candy Store I’ve ever been to — & thanks to my sweet tooth, I’ve been to many. The variety & quality of candies is unmatched, and arranged artistically for gorgeous eye candy too. If you think all saltwater taffy tastes the same, don’t miss 2nd floor with barrels of extraordinary mix & match flavors: orange & cinnamon were my faves. And mint. Ok, all of ‘em. Downstairs, the main floor has both the best of candies you’d expect — countless smorgasbord of delights! — plus many you’ve never seen. Example? Ever try Fried Egg gummies? Taste as good as they look! Last but not least: unique, fun seasonal decor brightens Uncle Willy’s storefront & indoors too. Superb fun-witchy greeters, Autumn colors, & Cow bench out front to dig into the loot. Yes, bench even has hoofs. Yet most of all, sumptuous variety and high quality of delicious sweets make Uncle Willy’s a great destination any time of year. On Bay View Street, just a block from Camden Harbor.

The store offers an array of unique items such as clothing, ornaments, books, puzzles, and decor with a distinctive Maine flair. Visitors can also enjoy beautiful harbor views from the rear porch. Customers appreciate the variety of souvenirs available including totes, jams, fudge, mugs, t-shirts, hats and more.
A sweet store that’s been around for a long time (85 years as of 2025). They have a good selection of gifts and their prices are reasonable.

Probably the best store for little gifts in Camden. Good prices and lots of selection. We got some jam here for only $4, a magnet for $5, and a sticker for $3. Would recommend for tourists!
Jesse H — Google review
Very nice store filled with great souvenirs of Maine. Also check out the views from their rear porch. Nice surprise for anyone that does not know about it. In the store, you can find totes, jams, fudge, mugs, t-shirts, hats. Pyjamas, hoodies. Plenty of goodies and decor with a moose.

Went to the iconic Smiling Cow! My father in law used to go since he was a small kid with his grandma ❤️ good selection of souvenirs but kinda pricey. Me and my whole family went (with 3 kids under 2) and i know kids could be really loud. The lady that was there didn’t really hide her annoyance, it was somewhat disappointing that she wasn’t “smiling” in The Smiling Cow store 🤣 beautiful views of the harbor in the back ❤️

Visited in May of 2024. My favorite shop in Camden? Purchased the wonderful large tote bag that I saw when I walked in the store. It's my beach bag in Ocean City, NJ. I think of our amazing three days in Camden every time I put it onto my shoulder to walk to the beach. Can't wait to return to that sweet town in Maine.

Internet cafe
Nestled in Camden, the Owl & Turtle Bookshop Café has been a beloved independent bookstore since 1970. Recently, new owners have added a café to the establishment, offering an array of hot and cold beverages along with locally-baked sweet and savory small plates. The cozy ambiance invites visitors to settle into reading nooks or bistro tables while enjoying their favorite cup of coffee or tea alongside a delightful nibble from the café.
Brought our daughter and son-in-law traveling from Hawaii to Owl & Turtle Bookshop Cafe and they absolutely fell in love with this bookstore that makes you wish you were a kid all over again! Huge assortment of books for the young and young at heart. Adorable bookstore with a cozy kids section on the 2nd floor. Can’t wait to try the coffee shop on our next visit. You could literally be at this bookshop for hours!!

Cutest little bookstore and secret awesome coffee bar. The Coffee On The Porch beans were great. The gentleman barista was fabulous! We went both days we were in town. Definitely recommend you stop by.
Colleen C — Google review
We love the ambiance of this bookshop and cafe. The treats are always tasty and the expresso drinks are made with care. We think it would be a great movie set. We always stop in when we can on our way up to Blue Hill. We love seeing the locals and hearing neighborhood conversation. The staff always remember us even though we only stop by a few times a year. It is a gem of a place that is 100% consistent with all their patrons. We love coming here. Be great if you could stay open beyond 4pm, but otherwise no recommendations for improvement.
Joseph D — Google review
What a rude establishment! We were literally the last people in line and right in front of our face they put up the closed sign and said they’re closing for lunch so they’re not taking any coffee orders! I mean, we were literally the last people in line and they couldn’t even take one more order! Mind you this was after waiting in line for 15 minutes! I’ve never experienced anything like that before.
Pam C — Google review
A charming bookstore and delicious Cafe in one. The children's book section is extensive. We walked out with a bag of books and had a most delicious snack of croissants and muffins. The coffee drinks were outstanding, highly recommend!
K. W — Google review
Such a cute little bookstore and coffee shop! The service at the cafe was friendly and a decent selection of espresso drinks. While we didn't get food, the snacks in the case looked delicious as well. I loved the vibe of the book store and there is a small patio section with a few tables outside to sit and watch the world go by

GREAT coffee, and a scone. Cozy library setting right in the town center next to Camden Harbor

I was shopping in Camden and needed a cold latte on this hot July day! I stopped here and the iced latte I bought was Carmel Coconut, you know, girl scout cookie Samoa style. It was so good and refreshing☕️😁 Stop by and try them out. They brew Coffee on the porch and it is smooth and not bitter. By the way the coffee is roasted in Camden.

Knit shop
Nestled in the charming town of Camden, Maine, the Cashmere Goat has become a beloved destination for knitting and crocheting enthusiasts since its early 2000s inception. Now located on Bayview Street, this delightful yarn shop caters to all skill levels with an impressive array of yarn options. From luxurious cashmere and soft alpaca to versatile cotton and local wool blends, there's something for everyone. Visitors rave about the warm community atmosphere where fellow crafters share their passion and knowledge.
Great yarn store! My first visit happened to coincide with a holiday 20% off sale. Lucky me! It would have been a great experience even without the sale. Spacious store, amazing selection of all weights, and very friendly and helpful staff. Looking forward to returning for another visit.

Wonderful selection of yarns and knitting accessories. Came in for some yarn and needles to make the Sophie Scarf. I was greeted and helped by a very wonderful, kind, woman. She also entertained my toddler for a few minutes with a basket of adorable knitted toys, so I could browse and purchase my items. Will definitely be back and plan to sign up for a class. What a wonderful place ❤️

I was in town visiting a friend in Camden who mentioned I should check out Cashmere Goat, and I am so glad I did! Got some yarn to take home to make a souvenir of my visit, got some beautiful locally dyed merino wool. The owner was so friendly and helpful, and made it a great experience from our visit! I’m sure we’ll come back to visit, and will make sure to stop in again. Thanks for such a great time!
Jeff B — Google review
I would love to say that the customer service in the current shop is what it was in the old shop but I can't. Ive had two experiences with needing help with a project and I was disappointed. The most recent I was told there was limited time i might be able to get help or I could pay for help. My yarn for this project was purchased at CG. Im an experienced veteran knitter and in all my years I've NEVER encountered this. But it is Camden! I contacted another shop, outside my community and they were beyond gracious in their willingness to help me. Im sad to say I won't be going back to the Cashmere Goat.
Carol M — Google review
We spent a day in Camden and this was our first stop. Great selection of yarn (yes, they have locally dyed/spun yarns). We asked the folks at the store a bevy of questions (restaurant recs, must see/ do in Camden and surrounding, etc) and they were so sweet to take the time to answer our questions. Next time I’m in Maine, I’m going back.
Samuel B — Google review
Wow! Absolutely fabulous local yarn shop. Wonderful selection of yarns and the staff is so welcoming and helpful. This is a must stop if you are in Camden or nearby.
Tracy V — Google review
Poor customer service along with business owner. Came back to pick up my bag after they wound yarn, got home and the needles I bought were not in the bag. It was a 2hour drive back so that was not an option to go back. Asked if they would send them , was told they would have to ask owner. Never received needles and never heard back from owner after numerous calls and a email. It has been approximately 2 1/2 weeks. Its not the money for the needles it’s the principle. Very disheartening that people do business this way. I always try to support small knit shops , but this one I would not recommend.
Sandee S — Google review
I stopped in here on vacation as a new crocheter and was really impressed with the folks working. They took time to ask what I was making, my skill level, and what type of fibers I preferred. Came away with some great cotton yarn. Entering any hobbyist shop as a newbie can be intimidating, but the staff immediately broke the ice and made me comfortable.

Carver Hill Gallery is a renowned art space showcasing contemporary works from Argentina, Italy, and beyond. The gallery represents career artists with backgrounds as educators in prestigious institutions worldwide. Visitors have been impressed by the quality and value of the artists represented, as well as the promotion of women artists. The gallery's staff has been commended for their helpfulness and attention to detail when assisting with purchases and shipping arrangements.
June 2023, Camden, Maine — I had what can only be described as an art attack. My daughter and I were roaming the streets of this lovely town when suddenly, we saw a painting — children at the beach, a common-enough subject for a painting, but this one captured the exact sensation of being a child at the beach, how purposeful it was, there were discoveries to be made, you needed the right equipment. That feeling of connecting with a piece of art is overwhelming. The painting came from the Carver Hill Gallery, and we stopped roaming and started searching — where was the Carver Hill Gallery? Would it still be open? This was the only day we would be in Camden, we were flying back to New York in the morning. Obviously, this story has a happy ending — we found the gallery, we met Jana, the owner and an artist herself, she introduced us to the work of Christina Thwaites. My husband bought me the painting for my birthday this year. I am blessed to be able to look at it every day, and grateful that it was displayed outside, on a wall blocks away from the gallery. Because of the Carver Hill Gallery, I now think of Camden, Maine as a place to discover art you likely wouldn’t see anywhere else.
Terri M — Google review
I recently purchased a fine painting from Carver Hill Gallery. Jana made the process so easy and my painting arrived in perfect condition from Maine to Minnesota. I really appreciated the professional packaging which protected the piece while in transit. I was provided a tracking number and the entire process was seamless. The painting is beautiful and everything I hoped for. Thank you!
LeeAnn W — Google review
Delightedly came across this charming gallery during a March visit to Camden and fell in love with the excellent artists featured in the exhibition on view. The gallery manager was pleasant and helpful, and I promised myself a repeat visit to mid-coast Maine and a purchase of artwork from Carver Hill Gallery. Two months later, I was considering a keepsake gift to celebrate a milestone for someone very special, and realized that a painting by one of Carver Hill's represented artists, Ingrid Ellison, would be just the thing. Ingrid, the Carver Hill Gallery owner Jana, and manager Karen, all collaborated to help me choose the perfect painting, package it with extreme care, and ship it to me in time for the celebration. I can't thank them all enough for their assistance and for the joy the painting gave the recipient - and will for years and years to come. If you find yourself in mid-coast Maine, make sure to visit Carver Hill Gallery - and even if you're not, this Gallery is worth the trip!

We have the pleasure of spending the summer in Maine. One of our favorite pastimes is visiting the art galleries in the mid-coast area. We discovered Carver Hill Gallery the summer of 2020 and it quickly became one of our favorite places to visit. The quality and diversity of the art was first class. Jana, the owner is very knowledgeable and makes visits an enjoyable experience. We found the work of one artist, Christina Thwaites, particularly interesting. Jana arranged for us to meet Christina and have her show us work that had not been on display. It was a wonderful experience and we have some new beautiful and interesting paintings on our condo walls in FL. I highly recommend the gallery to those who enjoy art.

Carver Hill is amazing. Last year, on a trip to Maine I saw some beautiful ornaments that I didn't purchase. Later after I returned home, I decided the ornaments would make excellent Christmas gifts, I contacted the gallery and everyone was super helpful in locating and sending me images via email. Once I made my choices they were packed and shipped to me right away. Thanks to Carver Hill Gallery and their amazing staff I had an amazing Christmas.

Carver Hill Gallery is a gem among the many wonderful galleries in Camden. The works displayed are varied, unique and absolutely beautiful. Glendarragh Farm Lavender is a beloved store in Camden, offering a wide range of lavender-based products. The shop provides an inviting and relaxing atmosphere, with high-quality bath, body, and home items. Visitors can find unique scented gifts for all occasions at the store. Additionally, the farm itself is a beautiful spot to explore during open farm days. The staff is known for being friendly and enjoyable to engage with while shopping or visiting the farm.
Best to go in July for harvest but any day is a great day on the farm. Picnic tables avail so bring lunch and enjoy the beautiful gardens. The barn is amazing. The products are luxurious and worth the splurge. They even sell plants so you can start your own lavender garden. Farm and little store is in Appleton and the main retail store is in Camden.

Cute shop! You can smell the aroma of lavender from the sidewalk which sets the mood for the entire experience. Great selection of lavender-based products. The bug spray really does work! Friendly staff! They told us about the farm we were able visit close by where all the lavender is grown. We went out there as well and enjoyed the lavender fields and the fresh cut lavender hanging in the barn. Awesome spot! Highly recommend stopping and getting gifts or treating yourself to something amazing! Visiting the farm was one of the highlights of our visit!

I love Glendarragh’s products💜I first received a tin of Lavender Omni Herb Balm from a dear friend for Christmas. The smell is amazing! I used it on a small dry patch on my hand, and within a week the patch cleared up! (not making claims here, my skin is pretty healthy.) In turn, I bought 7 tins plus the soap for my girlfriends! Highly recommend their lavender laundry soap too!

This was such a wonderful experience! The setting is just lovely, the gift shop had a lovely variety of lavender goodies. I left with a dried lavender bundle, and a lavender reed diffuser (synthetic fragrance free--very important to me!). The owner was kind and I was so glad to support a small family business on a road trip up Midcoast Maine.

We absolutely love visiting Glendarragh Lavender farm! It is a beautiful spot to visit and explore during their open farm days, definitely worth the visit if you’re in the area. They have a cute store in a barn on the farm, but if you’re in Camden they have a store and their staff is super friendly and fun to talk to.

Glendarragh is my favorite shop in Camden! Actually, it is my favorite shop period. I have been a customer for years. I am a picky shopper, especially for gifts, and the selection is exquisite. The blankets are luxurious, the handcrafted hens are beautiful (and downright adorable), the bath, body and home products are of the highest quality and the atmosphere is inviting and relaxing. It could be the smell of lavender that accounts for the relaxation, or the warmth of the staff. Either way, it’s a lovely shopping experience.

Glendarrah is magical! I had a wonderful time exploring the gardens & picking my own lavender to share a little of this gorgeous place with my friends. It’s clearly a labor of love. Definitely worth the detour if you’re in the mid coast area.

From the moment you walk in you'll know you're someplace special! The aroma invites you to come and browse all of the unique scented items Glendarrah Farm has to offer. There are gifts for everyone on your list - small and large - and for every pocketbook. It's a "don't miss" when shopping in the Camden area. I feel fortunate to live in the area so I can shop often! The Page Gallery is reason enough to drive from Boston to Camden, Maine. Not only are Colin Page’s paintings extraordinarily good, the other artists shown here are always a revelation- I’ve yet to be disappointed. I tell young art collectors ( or those to wish to be) that this is the place to go!

We had the best experience at this gallery! My husband and I were looking for a specific size and style painting for our home to commemorate our trip to Maine. After a browsing through the gallery, we didn’t see anything that met our specifics BUT Howard than asked us what we were looking for specifically and we told him. He told us to wait right there and he had the perfect painting in mind that wasn’t displayed yet. Well just like that…he came back with the perfect painting for us! Howard said it was serendipity and we couldn’t agree more! This became our motto for our trip. We love our new painting and loved our experience at the gallery. We will be back!!

We are in Camden several times a year and Camden Falls Gallery is one place we always stop to visit. If you are looking for local art and conversations with a gallery owner who can give you all the details you need about the artist, then stop by this gallery. Natalie's Restaurant, located in a charming New England Victorian inn, offers a sophisticated setting for an elevated dining experience. The stylish red-and-white dining room exudes Parisian elegance and overlooks the picturesque Camden Harbor. The restaurant prides itself on using locally sourced, fresh ingredients to create a rich culinary journey that entices all the senses with its vibrant colors, enticing aromas, and exquisite flavors.
As a self-proclaimed wine queen and passionate foodie, my recent experience at Natalie’s left me completely enchanted. Dining here isn’t just about eating; it’s an immersive journey that awakens the senses and leaves a lasting impression long after you’ve left the table. The moment you walk through the doors, you're embraced by an atmosphere that strikes the perfect chord between sophistication and warmth. The soft glow of the lighting, the elegant décor, and the gentle soundtrack set the stage for an evening brimming with indulgence and discovery. The menu at Natalie’s is a true masterpiece. Each dish reflects the chef’s creativity and skill, showcasing visually stunning presentations crafted with fresh, local, and seasonal ingredients. Every bite reveals a delightful narrative, transforming the most straightforward flavor into a memorable experience. The meticulously curated wine list perfectly complements each dish, elevating the flavors and forging a harmonious dining experience that you won’t soon forget. Looking back on my time at Natalie’s, I can’t help but feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude for such an extraordinary experience. I had the delightful opportunity to experience this restaurant during my sister's wedding rehearsal. From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by the ambiance and the warm hospitality. The food was nothing short of extraordinary; each dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. As a vegan, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the staff went above and beyond to ensure my meal was equally satisfying and delicious. The attentive service and attention to detail truly enhanced the entire experience.

We were early for our reservation so we waited in the lounge. Very cool atmosphere there- couches with funky, comfortable pillows and a candy station with lots of options. Right away, I noticed how attentive and professional the staff is. We had a party of 5- my husband and I and our 3 kids, ages 15, 12 and 11. Our kids are very well behaved, but I don’t recommend bringing kids. We shared several entrees as we knew our kids didn’t really enjoy the options. I was amazed at the service. Very attentive at each moment. We never wanted for anything. The whole family agreed. The bread and butter is delicious! With brown butter served on an ice cold rock! So cool. We also agreed that for the amount of food in the entrees, it is quite expensive. The eggplant entree - if eaten alone - I would be left very hungry. I think if it were just my husband and I, we would have had enough food and it might have felt like it was worth the expense. I just was not pleased with the size portions for the money.
Elena V — Google review
We celebrated a significant occasion with dinner at Natalie’s—and it was nothing short of exceptional. The food and the views from the deck were stunning. But what truly elevated the evening was the incredible service. Sven was the MVP—he helped with the reservation and went out of his way to organise a special dinner that felt personal and unforgettable. His attention to detail and genuine care made all the difference. The entire staff was warm, professional, and created a relaxed yet refined atmosphere. Highly recommended for any occasion.

I took my wife here for our ten year anniversary. It was the end of what had been a magnificent four day vacation in Maine that I didn't think could get any better, and boy was I wrong. This was without a doubt the most fantastic dining experience I have ever had in my life. The food, the service, the atmosphere it was all quite simply, perfect. I hope im lucky enough to go back some day. Maybe on my 20 year anniversary! If anyone from Natalie's reads these reviews, id like to offer a sincere thank you from my wife and I for making our anniversary night really special, thank you so much.

Just got home from a wonderful anniversary dinner. We went with the chef’s choice four course meal with wine pairings. The food was incredible! We were greeted with the champagne plus brown butter and bread upon arrival, and we knew we were going to be well cared for. The blue fin was mouthwatering. The freshly made pasta tasted like heaven. And between the wagyu dish, along with the blackberry goat milk mousse at dessert, we were delighted at every course. The wine pairings were thoughtful and truly highlighted each dish. We had a magical evening and thank the entire staff for giving us a night to remember.

We had dinner at Natalie’s tonight. It was a beautiful night and we ate outside. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. I had the halibut and my husband had the trout. I liked the halibut more than he liked his trout. It’s a pricey restaurant, which we don’t mind, but walked away not feeling it was worth it. Will try somewhere else next time.

Our second time at Natalies, and they held up the high service standard we experienced last year. We love the attentiveness and small touches that make this restaurant special. This year we did the tasting menu and lobster tasting menu! Both were delicious, although a-lot of food😂 that we weren’t prepared to eat all of. Thankfully, they packaged up our desserts. Thanks again for a great experience, the maple butter was divine!

Cool place, really, really nice people. Solid baked goods. Macaroons were awesome and the size of my head. Chocolate croissants were a little dense and small for my taste, but crispy with lots of chocolate!

My husband and I stopped in on a resent sunny Sunday and we purchased some pastries and coffee. We sat on the bench outside munching on our delicious treats and enjoying the sun. It wasn’t until the next morning when I was home, four hours away that I realized I couldn’t find my wallet. I was in a panic. My whole life was in there including my COVID vaccination certificate. I realized the Red Barn was the last place I could remember having it. When I reached the owner by phone she said they found my wallet on the bench outside where we were sitting and it was safe! She sent it to me Priority mail. Happy Ending! These folks have a lovely store, delicious baked goods, they’re incredibly honest and go above and beyond!

Not as many antiques as I would have liked but they didn't claim to be exclusively antiques either. We did buy two slices of pie while we were there. Tasted very good. For a tourist town it is a worthwhile stop.

The chicken pot pies are divine. Full of chicken and vegetables, and wrapped in a flaky crust (calzone style). We stopped here in the morning and picked these up for lunch later, while we were enjoying the beautiful trails near by. One pie is good for a small/medium appetite. Pick up 2 if you're really hungry.

Star Bird is a charming store located in Camden, offering an impressive selection of home decor items. Visitors can find a variety of options for housewarming or wedding gifts. The shop has garnered praise for its unique and delightful merchandise, making it a must-visit destination in the area. Customers have spoken highly of the owners, adding to the overall appeal of this beloved establishment.
Not for the weak hearted. These guys are sick of people coming in and haggling over prices just for people to turn around and say they'll buy it online. The disrespect given to customers is deserved and I'm all here for it. They will definitely help you build character. Cute store too
Jaegan L — Google review
If I could give less than a one star review I would. I went down to Camden to look for a rug because I know the shops have cute decor items there. I own a business on Damariscotta Lake and a cabin on the lake. I saw a rug that I liked but as they are rolled up it is hard to see the whole pattern. So, I looked up the brand while I was there to see if I could see a picture of it whole. I showed the picture to the man behind the counter and aware that he might think I was going to haggle with the price, I quickly stated that I had just pulled the picture up to see the whole rug as opposed to a portion of it rolled up. I asked him if this was the same rug. Without even looking at the picture he said rudely, "It's not" and then followed up with "well, if you are just going to buy it on the internet..." before he could finish I told him I was NOT going to buy it on the internet. I just wanted to see the whole pattern. Unbelievably, unwelcoming customer service. Beyond unwelcoming and actually suspicious and accusatory. Very unpleasant experience. Based on the other reviews here, this was not an isolated experience.
Tracey M — Google review
Stopped into the Star Bird in Camden and the shop was completely empty, no other customers at all. The whole place smelled like a funeral home, and everything on the shelves was extremely overpriced. Instead of being welcoming, the male owner was hobbling around the store being openly rude, while the woman behind the counter—who looked medically fragile—was left to handle things. The atmosphere was uncomfortable, unfriendly, and not worth the stop. Definitely would not recommend this place. Online shopping will put places like this to bed very soon. Maybe that was the odor?
Sequoia S — Google review
Cross-posted on yelp: This store is off-putting and misrepresents itself. The door states that it sells a few types of items, including antiques. There were not really any true antiques in the store except for a few old porcelain vases (that also could easily have been repros). I felt like that was a misrepresentation for sure. That aside, the store carries some good/ok products - mostly baby toys such as Mon Ami stuffies, which I have now seen in a few places. Some of the art was antique-ish, antique, or at least decent, but didn't always have obvious labels or ages (and was clearly a mix). The staff weren't particularly friendly, but there was some signage which put me off. Upon entering the store, there is a no food or drink sign (normal), but also a sign that you must hold your child's hand if under like 11 years old, which rubbed me wrong. Especially given much of the content of the store. "You break it you buy it" would be more fitting. Additionally, there were no photo or videos signs in the store. It overall felt quite aggressive and with the assumption of ill intent or impact by customers.
Boston T — Google review
We stop in annually to see if the arrogance level has subsided - it hasn’t. So detached from, and snooty towards the customer that it has progressed from annoying to comical.
Dutch — Google review
Was visiting Camden for the first time this summer. Ended up visiting this place after walking past and seeing the store front. Owner immediately pestered me and was practically trying to force me to buy things that I had no interest in. I am shocked that this place is still in business even after my brief experience.

The Camden Opera House, a beautifully restored 1894 theater located on Elm Street, is a historic gem in the heart of downtown Camden. Following a devastating fire in 1893, this impressive brick building was constructed and now stands as the centerpiece of the Camden Great Fire Historic District. The auditorium, with its Victorian-era design featuring curving balconies and loge boxes, exudes timeless elegance.
What a treat! While visiting town, I was able to score a last minute ticket to one of the Bay Chamber Concert Series. I attended the Geoff Nuttall Tribute Concert and witnessed an emotional event that brought some tears, and much applause throughout the evening. The building and its architecture are stunning, the history... captivating, and the acoustics...top notch. Not a bad seat in the house, easy stage viewing, and the oppulance inside will consume your attention and have your eyes wandering about. So don't be rude, pay attention to the stage. I highly recommend you attend an event here. You'll be glad ya did...and hey, dress yourself up a bit for it. Your posture will immediately improve! Enjoy

What an incredible night at the Camden Opera House! We came to see Chris Ross open for The Mallett Brothers Band, and both performances were absolutely phenomenal. Chris Ross brought raw emotion and powerful songwriting, while The Mallett Brothers lit up the stage with their energy and musicianship. The venue itself is a gem—beautifully preserved, intimate, and full of character. The acoustics were fantastic, and every seat felt close to the action. We’ll definitely be back for more shows. This place is a true treasure in Maine!

Great collection of everything and anything used, some almost antique. Stuff turns over regularly so there are always new items to peruse. It's a collective of several dozen vendors. Always a fun visit.

Loved the organization and variety of items in high quality condition and good prices. I got there 5 minutes before close but I didn't have to hunt long to find an old Cappy's tin mug to take home. As I was paying, the employees told me stories about the old restaurant the mug came from, which I really appreciated since I had never been there.

Cross-posted on yelp: This antique store has an EXCELLENT variety and selection across their dealer booths. Pretty much all of the dealers are reasonably priced, and there were a few GORGEOUS gems that I would have LOVED to take home with me. I did not make a purchase on this particular trip, but the staff were friendly and greeted me, and the vibes were great. I will definitely try to come back!
Boston T — Google review
Totally love this place. Worth a stroll often, always new things to find. Half our house is furnished from finds at 10 Mechanic. Also the staff is cool and enjoy them as much as the shop!
Nicole S — Google review
I wish I could give this place zero stars. My wife and I antique all across the U.S. and typically spend several thousand dollars. We didn’t even make it past the register at this place before we were met with old grumpy lady in glasses who told us to leave our coffee on the counter and that “we don’t allow that in here”. The tone was just so rude. I couldn’t believe it. There are much better places near Acadia, Bar Harbor, and St George.

Nice shop, sometimes a bit on the pricey side, but still plenty of treasures to be found! The people working are nice, they just always seem a bit confused and like they don't actually know how to ring a sale up. The service from Anthony was superb! He did an amazing job helping my wife and I pick out some belts. He was very helpful, knowledgeable, and it was great to shop here today
Pizza K — Google review
Cross-posted on yelp: The products from this location look amazing, however the sourcing is a bit misleading unless you ask. The work is done by a studio in CA, with the material sources from our of the country (I think they said India). I was looking for local products, so that no longer fit the bill. That said, the products themselves have a great range of sizes, shapes, and colors! Idid try on a jacket that should have been big on me but it was way too small, so be careful because the jackets are also not true to size (which is very important when you are also paying the premium).

Nice selection of leather goods. Reasonably priced and good quality. The hat I bought was very nicely priced and the quality is excellent. The staff was very nice and answered questions I had. They are waiting for you to ask questions so it might look like they are staring at you but they're not ringing up every customer so I can understand people feeling watched but they were very nice and helpful.

We love Camden and particularly this wonderful store. Great selection of QUALITY leather goods, fairly priced. Purchased a beautiful leather backpack a few years back. Awesome little cash-only bookstore on the second floor. Found lots of interesting books here as we were passing through on our way home to PA. Definitely worth a stop if you love to shop for used books!

The owner is very kind. His shop has a great selection of books; I left with 4 and could have purchased more. I’ll return the next time I’m in the area. Note: Cash/check only

Wonderful used bookstore, my daughter loaded up on Stephen King paperbacks. Excellent service, atmosphere.

I was randomly wandering about Camden when I saw the sign for Stone Soup Books pointing up a flight of stairs. What a delightfully tiny place crammed to the ceiling with used books, pretty well organized and well priced. It was also full of people browsing and talking about books. I only wish my town had such a place!
Susan P — Google review
A cute hidden gem in the gift shops of Camden, head up the stairs and take a left. They have a wide variety of books to browse with good prices. You can find old and new books to read. I was camping near by so it was nice to grab a book to read back at camp.

The owner, Liz, provides exceptional customer service by assisting customers in choosing the perfect pieces for their space and even helping with measurements and arrangements through photos. Customers have praised the shop for its unique and beautiful items, although some find it on the pricier side.
Great diversity in merchandise to be sold. The old woman is lovely, even though she doesn't know who I am.It's a beautiful store!!! They are very attentive, fast and nice.

Cross-posted on yelp: This is by far my favorite shop in Camden. LOTS of local artisan products, including a great range from woodworking to glassware to embroidery to creative stone designs. Amazing place with products for gifts (and for myself) at a good price point. Will definitely come back when in the area, and will definitely recommend! Plus, the shipping service is awesome.
Boston T — Google review
An eclectic higher end shop. Plenty for most tastes. Plenty of Maine themed items.
Kevin W — Google review
Liz, the owner is amazing! I was visiting from the Midwest and absolutely fell in love with a few pieces. I knew I had a space in my kitchen that needed some decor and I was able to send her pictures when I got home with measurements. She worked with me from the shop, measuring items and arranging them in photos so I could imagine them in my space. In the end, I chose five beautiful pieces, some very large, and she shipped them to me without any breakage! Very well packaged and fast shipping. Thank you Liz and staff! I highly recommend a visit to this store, even if you can’t bring the big things home with you the shipping is seamless. We will be back on our next visit to Maine.

I received a beautiful wooden travel mug as a gift from a friend that was in town for a wedding. After about a month with it I tried to disassemble the sliding lid for cleaning only to discover that the top and bottom parts were (supposed to be) permanently glued together. Not knowing what else to do I called them to see if I could get a replacement. After a callback from the owner I was told that they had reached out to the manufacturer and that a replacement was being sent free of charge. Can't thank them enough for doing this as I my collection of lid-less travel mugs is already taking up too much space in my kitchen. It's nice to see that there are still businesses that take an interest in providing genuine concern for their customer's satisfaction.

Lots of unique home goods & gifts at a wide range of prices. It's worth having a look - and wander to the back of the store to see the view of the waterfall!

A little store that focuses on home decor and kitchen accessories. Tons of neat stuff with a natural or Maine woods camp feel, but it’s only affordable if you work in Massachusetts. Don’t get me wrong, the stuff is really cool, beautiful, and useful, but not something most locals actually can actually afford.

Nestled in the charming town of Camden, Thomas Michaels Designers, Inc. stands out as a premier destination for exquisite jewelry. This gallery showcases an impressive array of high-quality pieces, ranging from local artisan creations to rare antiques. Visitors often rave about their experiences here; one customer fondly recalls purchasing a beautifully crafted diamond ring eight years ago and returning to find genuine care from Thomas and his team during a recent visit after evacuating due to Hurricane Helene.
I purchased a diamond ring beautifully designed by Thomas 8 years ago. I’ve never loved a piece of jewelry as much as I love this unique and well crafted piece. I found myself back in Maine recently after evacuating from North Carolina due to Hurricane Helene. In stopping by his store, he and his wife showed genuine concern over my situation and that of western NC. He was so generous to take the time to clean and polish my ring, free of charge. I highly recommend Thomas Michaels Designers. It’s pleasing to know the people behind the jewelry you wear are talented, kind and take care of you over the years.
Marina M — Google review
My husband and I wandered into Thomas Michael's jewelry store while visiting Camden. Thomas happened to be there and offered to clean my diamond, as we browsed his beautiful, unique pieces. He discovered that one prong wasn't sitting properly on my diamond. He explained it in detail with us, and without hesitation, offered to fix it... without charge. It was a very kind thing to do, and we were grateful, (most jewelers would have charged!) Thanks Thomas for our enjoyable chat. We'll be back next time we're visiting Camden.
Linda K — Google review
Absolutely spectacular service by Thomas Michaels! He repaired my earrings for me and shipped them. Regrettably they were not delivered to me, through no fault of Thomas' (lost by USPS, even though registered.). Thomas selected a NICER set of earrings, much higher quality diamonds, and a wonderful setting and shipped them to me immediately. Just always extremely personable, professional and caring - and the QUALITY is second to NONE. What a wonderful and much appreciated gesture to replace the originals with a pair I like much better!! Thank you!!!
Susan G — Google review
I have never been treated so rudely in my life by anyone as I was by the owners wife. She is so full of herself and unwisely judges people and their financial situation. She should not be the person facing the public with such an ugly demeanor. I have no doubt that she loses sales based on her attitude. Too bad, for the other very personable assistant. I would not spend a dime in this establishment. There are other Jewerly designers out there who understand that the client is how you make your income and how you treat them is important.
Mary C — Google review
Thomas & team made our wedding bands and my wife’s engagement ring. Thomas listened to what I wanted while at the same time steering me away from making some would-be regrettable choices. Quick and straightforward. 10/10 no regrets
Sam V — Google review
Beautiful stock but unable to find just what I was searching for. The next thing I know, I'm looking at stones with Nora and talking generally about a design. Shortly thereafter, the dream is realized and I have exactly the right opal earrings. Nora knows her stones. Thomas' work is stunning. I loved having a small part in the realization of the vision. I can't wait for the next project.
Adele S — Google review
Thomas Michaels' gallery is stunning. My husband and I are so pleased that we happened upon their place in Camden. There to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary, we ended up meeting Thomas and his wonderful staff, Lyn and Nora, and working with them to create a new setting for my original wedding ring. They were friendly and professional, and they made the whole long-distance process so easy for us. I absolutely adore my new ring, and look forward to doing business with them again in the future.
Jennifer L — Google review
We (my husband and I) can't say enough good things about Thomas Michael, his wife, his staff, and his deep expertise and love for jewelry. We went to the store at least thee different times to design a custom engagement ring (which I love). Each time he gave us incredible service and world class education in design, gems, and the history of Indian metals, gems and jewelry design too (my husband is from India). He is a wealth of information and has such passion for his craft. My now husband wanted a very special piece of jewelry to reflect our unconventional proposal, where by I asked our close artists friends to write in 200ft letters "Will you marry me?!" on the road in front of the farm I grew up on in Belfast Maine, so that it was visible from a small charted plane as we flew over. He said, "yes!" So, since I scooped his chance to propose he wanted a very special ring, which is exactly what Thomas made us. Thank you again and again. We will back again and again!

The original jewelry designs are stunning, and they have a great vintage selection as well. I bought a charm and a gold chain for my daughter and the owner was lovely to work with. The value is very good for the level of craftsmanship. I don’t know that I’ve seen anything like it from an independent jewelry artist. Stop in even if you’re not in the market for new jewelry- I promise it’s worth it.

Check this place out! A must-stop for anybody walking the shops of Camden. The store is full of beautiful treasures - crystals, gems, fossils, carvings, and jewelry of all kinds. Jack skillfully restored my great-grandmother's 120 year-old engagement ring and fitted it with a new diamond. He carefully guided me through the once-in-a-lifetime purchase, and my wife loves it. He was easy-going and a pleasure to work with, and he also helped us a select a wedding band for me. This past year we went back for our anniversary and purchased another gorgeous ring for my wife. We lived in Camden for 2 years, and whenever we're in town, we usually stop by to say hi. You should too!

Worked with Emmett and Jack to design this exquisite pendant. They were very consultative, suggesting changes during construction based on their years of experience, and it turned out far better than I could have hoped for. I am over the moon with “Gail’s Star” pendant.

Watch Battery replacement (unusual - the watch requires 2 batteries). I was highly impressed by John's service in every way. Additionally, he carries a very attractive selection of jewelry. If anyone needs jewelry or services, I STRONGLY recommend Russel's.

I had a daughter that was a jeweler and most of my jewelry is made by her. She's since passed. Jon was very kind and did what I asked and gave his extras. I highly recommend him. I felt very secure with leaving my things with him.

I needed to shop virtually and Jonathon, the store owner, set up a video call on his phone and walked me through what he had available and helped me pick out a present for my wife. We processed the transaction over the phone and when I came to pick it up, he brought it outside and set it on the hood of my truck so that we could do everything contactless. What great customer service!

I stopped in to the Camden location two weekends ago, and was so impressed by the beauty and quality of the items - mostly blankets, throws, scarves, wraps, that type of thing. The woman who was working there was extremely informative and helpful. She explained all about the items and the amazing services they offer to care for the items for years to come. I didn't buy anything at the time, but based on that great experience, I will definitely be getting upcoming wedding gifts from Swans Island Company.
