Cafè 1904 Restaurant is a charming and enchanting dining spot located in the cultural heritage center of Hermanus. The restaurant offers a world-class menu with a mix of high-end dining and international cafe classics. Dishes such as lamb shanks, seafood tagliatelle, lemon and garlic buttered mussels/calamari, halloumi cheese, and vegan platters are just some of the highlights on the carefully designed menu.
Wonderful dining experience, which was basically flawless! The ambience and atmosphere of the place is lovely. But the food stole the show! The owner claims to be the no 1 seafood restaurant in Hermanus and, after having the seafood platter for 2, I can’t dispute her rather bold claim! Absolutely wonderful and we’re definitely coming back!! We’ve tried most of the food in Hermanus and this place takes the cake for us!!
Tasso A — Google review
Our host Endria was so welcoming and made us feel right at home! Wonderful meal with fantastic staff! Highly recommend the Seafood platter, it was phenomenal both in portion size and in flavour! Wonderfully prepared Hake and Prawns. Thanks to our server Valerie and host Endria for a lovely evening. Highly recommend Cafe 1904 when visiting Hermanus.
Kshethra N — Google review
Highly enjoyable meal with friendly knowledgeable service. We had a cozy table next to the fireplace which was wonderful on a cold winter’s night. The food was delicious, we tried a variety of starters, Mains and (all) desserts from the menu. We highly recommend the fillet and oxtail, it was a clear favourite for us. A great place to taste good traditional South African cooking/food. The owner is hands on and we had the delight of chatting with her. We even got to ask questions about the food and what ingredients were used to make certain dishes. She was very welcoming to our questions and interest in the food. (All prepared by her husband, the chef) We left with bellies bulging and smiles on our faces. Highly recommend for a romantic date night.
Charris R — Google review
That's too bad I can't put 6 stars on the food. I just had one of the best ribeye I've ever eaten in my life. Perfectly cooked blue with a delicious sauce. The meat was really tender, melt in the mouth for a very reasonable price. I don't know if I'll have the time to go back but if I do, I already know what my order will be.

Title: Outstanding Dining Experience Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ From start to finish, this restaurant exceeded all expectations. What a pleasant surprise as you enter. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The ambiance was inviting and the service was exceptional. A must-visit for a memorable dining experience.

WOW!!! Such an awsome experience. The food, service and vibe was excellent! Will recommend this place to anyone.
Zanandi C — Google review
A little gem. We didn't know what to expect as we aren't locals and the entrance is quite unpretentious. Once inside, the beautiful decor makes you feel comfortable and we knew we had made the right choice. This was confirmed by the delicious food, absolutely mouth-watering! The hosts, Endria and Johan were extremely hospitable. A great night out!
Pierre M — Google review
The food was really good. There was a worderful atmosphere. We were really enjoying this place until the last moment. Paid cash, but didn't get any change. Which was over 10% from the bill. I don't mind leaving tips. But I want to decide whether doing it or not.

Bistro
Just Pure Bistro is a charming little bistro that takes pride in using fresh, seasonal, and locally sourced ingredients. The menu offers a variety of health-centric options including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and low-carb choices. From poke bowls to Vietnamese coffee and bunless burgers, there's plenty of variety to choose from. Situated overlooking an expansive bay, the bistro provides uninterrupted views while serving up the finest dishes made with the freshest ingredients.
One of the few bistros/cafe’s where you can see a view of the ocean. Lovely food, with a nice variety of interesting and standard lunch meals. I’d recommend their freshly pressed juices over a cup of coffee though as a bit of a coffee snob, but every thing else including their cheese cake is delicious. I had their salmon poke bowl today and it was delicious with plenty of salmon, radddish, avocado, roasted macadamias and delicious sticky rice. 10/10 for this dish!
Emma — Google review
The baked cheese cake was truly exceptional - creamy, rich, and utterly divine. The croissant was equally impressive, with layers of flaky pastry that simply melted in my mouth. Both were clearly made with love and care, and it showed in every bite. The dirty chai was a real treat, with the perfect balance of spices and espresso. It was rich, creamy, and utterly delicious.
Ameen B — Google review
A delightful stop. Just opposite the cliff path in Hermanus. Outside and inside setting. Little doggie was allowed outside. Very smart inside. The menu is vast, breakfast ends at 11.30. We had brunch. It's called a patteseri, not sure why as the only pastry available was a croissant..it was heavenly though Served with preserve and cheese and butter. Ginger tea and honey on the offer as well. A view of the ocean, added a unique touch.
Sybz S — Google review
A bad experience indeed. We entered at 15:25 and were immediately told at the door that they actually close at 4pm. No problem for us, I said, as we only came for a quick coffee and cake. At 15:40 the cleaner started mopping the floor around us, moving her bucket with filthy water all around our table while having a loud conversation with her colleague who was using the table next to us to fold & stack napkins or tablecloths. More people entered from the ocean side and were told by the cleaner that they need to sit somewhere else as she is busy there. Should cleaning and prep not be done after actual business hours? We had good coffee and great carrot cake within a disgusting atmosphere.
Renata J — Google review
This place turned out to be the perfect breakfast place for us. Huge variety of food and freshly pressed juices. The staff were fantastic. Located on marine drive with fab views of the bay. Definitely worth a visit. The owner was a lovely lady with a wealth of information on where to visit in surrounding towns, the whales common to the area, how to get a taxi. She was brilliant!
Dee C — Google review
Great bistro with excellent food. How hard is to make a fry egg? They managed to make it "Perfect". The breakfast was superb, great mushrooms, fry tomatoes and sausage. The bacon was good, perhaps not as crunchy as I like, but excellent nevertheless. Down size ? The coffee. The cappuccino was a coffee with milk, nothing close to a cappuccino l. The coffee as well as the hot chocolate were weak. Prices are in the higher-end, but the service, quality of food and view (just infront of the whale coast) justify it. Recommended.
Fabrizio D — Google review
I love just pure. I’ve been eating their amazing chicken salad since I was a little boy - would definitely recommend. Their breakfasts are also very good. I love the eggs benedict (I add bacon which makes it even more delicious). Just pure has a breathtaking view of the ocean. Their prices are also quite good. I would definitely recommend popping in at the gift shop to treat yourself or a buy a last minute gift.
Luca W — Google review
Cute and Dainty looking, very relaxed vibe (we came in for breakfast) and I'm sure we'll visit again when we're in the area. Food was delicious and filling (I ordered the Benedict with smoked trout ribbons & hubby had the classic bistro breakfast)

Nestled along the picturesque bay in the vibrant town of Hermanus, Burgundy Restaurant stands out as a beloved local gem. With its stunning ocean views and inviting atmosphere, it’s no wonder that visitors often find themselves waiting to savor its culinary delights. The restaurant boasts an outdoor seating area shaded by trees and umbrellas, making it the perfect spot to unwind with a refreshing craft beer or a glass of exquisite local wine.
Hake, line fish, calamari, all with a huge portion of potato served.. portion of everything is big. Nice.. service is good, friendly, great scenery, lovely companions in portrait.. we loved it
Christina C — Google review
Absolutely amazing! We started off with the Springbok Carpaccio, which I could not recommend enough. We then had the lamb ribs and seafood pasta. The lamb might just be the best lamb I’ve ever had in a restaurant. The lamb is juicy and just falls apart in your hands.
Joni B — Google review
We ordered seafood platter for 2, it arrived super quickly, our food sat for a few minutes whilst our waiter fetched us our plates. We did ask for the extra line fish, it was presented well. We loved the grilled calamari tubes, hake and line fish, everything else wasn’t hot which was a real shame.
Adam B — Google review
Our favourite restaurant in the whole world!!! We arrived as strangers and left as friends! This restaurant makes the best seafood pasta ever! Most amazing culinary experience with the best service!
Jacomien W — Google review
“Above and beyond” - it is rare to find people who care like this in the world of hospitality. A simple breakfast with my family was elevated to a memorable experience by staff who know what they are doing and care. Well done!
Dayle G — Google review
Father's day lunch. Lovely setting, close to the ocean. Ordered different meals of which the best was the hake/calamari combo. The oxtail was ok as was the meat balls and mash, the two specials for the day. We were unfortunate to be seated close to an extremely loud patron that basically prevented out table from conversing but I suppose that's the luck of the draw.
Chris B — Google review
Great service, great food, beautiful view! We went for breakfast at Burgundy and enjoyed it so much that we returned for dinner. We had the Eggs Benedict (which was fantastic) whilst sitting outside with a beautiful view of the ocean. For dinner we had the Patagonian calamari and seafood pasta (both dishes were also great) and sat inside in a quiet and cosy setting at the back. What stood out for me especially was the kindness, care and hospitality that the waiters have. Apart from our own waiter, I observed the same in the rest of the team as well and was very impressed. Will definitely want to return!
Talitha L — Google review
Great location overlooking the sea lovely view views and great for both nature watching and people watching!. I was only drinking but some of the reviews have put me off eating food there, plus although the service was friendly, it was incredibly slow. Asked twice for the bill, wasn’t forthcoming, one person serving, three other guys standing round talking. The guy who was serving me at ask someone else to get my check several times as they were too busy engaging with each other. Despite the fabulous location, the level of hygiene witnessed outside was poor, food debris on the floor not cleared up, sugar sachets on the floor, serviettes on the floor, straw paper on the floor, not cleared up, with waiters walking past and not clearing. Tables cleared despite now and sitting there. A shame as this could be an amazing venue with the right attention and care from the staff. See pictures on the food debris on the floor. I mentioned that Service was poor and slow when I paid and was surprised that a tip was still expected. No response to my comment.

Dutchies Restaurant is a popular beachfront gem located at Grotto Beach, offering stunning views of the ocean and mountains. It's a family-owned beach cafe known for its serene atmosphere under a Milkwood tree. Reservations are recommended due to its popularity. Nice beach just in front of the restaurant. Staff was friendly. Food was good. We had a great lunch with a magnificent view.
Carine C — Google review
We had a great (birthday) lunch at Dutchies yesterday. We sat outside on the benches and had stunning views of the mountain and the ocean. The cocktails and food were delicious, and our waitron also gave us fabulous service. 👌
Mandy D — Google review
We have been at Dutchies tonight, which was the by far most windy day you could imagine. They had mobile heaters and scarves for us, so it was not too cold. The staff is very polite, the location is looking quite nice and the meal was delicious. We would come back if we had stayed longer at Hermanus.
Christian E — Google review
Always a hit! Food is consistently good, the atmosphere: always a great vibe and the fact that it’s across from one of the most beautiful beaches is a bonus. Added bonus is that our wonderful waitress accommodated our dog who is reactive (1 year old collie, you know why I mean). She brought her water and treats and just carried on like it was platting her job. Thank you ♥️ we’ll come back when she’s grown out of this phase.

Had the best fresh whole Sea Bream on this sunny first day of spring ever! Perfectly prepared! What a way to welcome in the new season. Impeccable service and personal attention. Even for our locals, very affordable. Highly recommend!
Jozua R — Google review
The bitterballen were great! The hake and chicken was out of stock, so I opted for the fillet. I was happy it turned out that way, because the fillet was excellent. Cooled to perfection and the chef prepared a pepper sauce for me, which was also great

Nice family run restaurant and bar. Plenty of parking and right next to blue flag beach 'Grotto beach'. Food was pretty good, service was friendly and quite quick. Plenty of people in when we ate, from a varied selection both in age and from different walks of life. Good alternative to going all the way to Hermanus waterfront

More than 5 Stars! Amazing mountain views and restaurant. They have cottages, a pool, pond, lawn and a lovely garden. The food was incredible. I could tell how much care and passion went into making it. My steak was not only cooked to perfection but I was asked exactly how big I wanted it to be cut. What lovely experience!

Michelin star chef, Jürgen Schneider; found off a dirt road, on a wine farm, in Stanford. Absolutely magnificent eating experience. Warm, hospitable service from people who obviously love what they do. We will be back.

What a big treat to stay at the Fisherman's Cottage at the beautiful Springfontein Estate. Grapeheaven for me because I was again allowed to work a day with the cellar team. To learn more about the several vinification techniques they used and learned more about the special Chenel grape. Baie dankie for your warmth and hospitality. Special to Johst, Jeanne, Tania, Marisca and the lovely lady in the Barn who filled regularly my waterbottle with chilled water before I had to ask. If you are looking for an amazing place to stay, enjoy the delicious food (they also have an fine dine experience 3 month a year) and upon all the delicious wines they made than please go to the website and book your stay. I promise, you won't regret it.

Incredible. We had the three course set menu and were absolutely delighted. The service is attentive and thoughtful. The food is exceptional, beautifully presented and delicious. Lots of interesting flavours so even though the dishes might look rather plain on the menu, they are certainly not when they reach you at the table. There are many little treats hidden throughout the set menu, as well, which this photo does not do justice to! I recommend this restaurant highly.
Alice L — Google review
The quality and quantity the food doesn't mach with the price. The food was not good at all. It was far overpriced. The service was friendly but very slowly.

Restaurant
Crust & Craft (Paradiso) is a charming Italian-South African eatery located in the heart of bustling Hermanus. The restaurant offers a welcoming ambiance and a great vibe, making it an ideal spot to enjoy bright, fresh, and seasonal food on their wide open deck during summer evenings. With excellent steak options, mouth-watering pizzas, and airy garden seating between town and the Hemel-en-Aarde Village, this restaurant stands out as a must-visit destination.
We shared a delicious super stallion pizza in Paradiso Restaurant. Our waiter Sbu was excellent in ever way. Economic, cosy & friendly management too. It’s is winter in Hermanus but we still had a great position to view the beautiful & atmospheric scenery. We always go to this restaurant when we visit. Highly recommended. We will return 😁
Joshua F — Google review
Walking past Crust & Craft, the beers on tap caught my eye, so we decided to stop for lunch. The beers were refreshingly cold, and the pizzas we tasted were tasty. I also liked the restaurant's atmosphere, as it is located in the vibrant Hermanus Tourist Center, offering beautiful views. However, the service was a major disappointment. Our waiter was inattentive, spending more time chatting with colleagues than looking after our table. This unfortunately soured the experience for us a bit. With so many other restaurants in the area, you need something setting you apart, and unfortunately, I am not sure if I will visit again.

The cozy cottage exterior and whimsical name attract a steady stream of patrons seeking delicious meals in the treed courtyard or indoors. Shocking independent restaurant! Called in for breakfast on a Wednesday morning. The welcome from staff was unique in its humour and volume, we loved it! Food was freshly prepared and delicious and the service was excellent. On balance I cannot recommend this establishment to anyone, as it may prove to be too busy to host us! VFM 5/5.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 If you're ever in Hermanus and looking for a vintage, cozy, and quiet lunch spot—look no further. I asked ChatGPT for just that, and it led us straight to this little gem. Spot on! From the moment my mom and I stepped inside, we were wrapped in the kind of warmth you don’t often find—like visiting an old friend’s home on a rainy day. The air smelled of freshly brewed coffee and something hearty and savoury from the kitchen—grilled onions, simmering sauces, and comfort in the making. Every corner seemed to tell a story. The iced cappuccino was rich, creamy, and comforting—the kind of drink you sip slowly, just to make it last. The burger? Homemade patty, thick and juicy, covered in your choice of fresh, flavourful sauce. Crispy-on-the-outside, fluffy-on-the-inside chips, and a salad that was anything but an afterthought—bursting with colour, crunch, and brightness. But then came dessert... and wow. We couldn’t choose just one, so we didn’t. We shared their famous lemon meringue, a gooey brownie, a generous scoop of ice cream and cream, and the most incredible warm roasted almond tart—sweet, nutty, and perfectly comforting. If nothing else, go for that tart. I promise it’ll stay with you long after the last bite. The owner and her mom (the chef!) made us feel right at home—welcoming, kind, and clearly proud of the experience they’ve created. Whether it’s a chilly, misty Hermanus afternoon or a golden sunny day, this place just works. Highly, highly recommend.

The food was good and the atmosphere is fantastic if you wish to get away from the Hermanus hustle and bustle. Marshal is an exemplary waiter, he ran back and forth for us even though we never intended to make him do so. The food is well priced and I would visit again. Only thing was the floor manager or owner never came past to check on us during the 1 and half hour visit but chose to go to all the other regular tables

A lovely location with a relaxing ambience, and a beautiful view of the mountain and ocean. I got the seafood basket. Unfortunately, it was a bit heavy on the chips. For the price, I was expecting way more seafood than I received. We had a lovely and friendly waitron, Cathrine. :) loved her sense of humour and making our experience funny and enjoyable.
Hannah S — Google review
The food took over an hour to arrive and when it did it looked so disappointing, the server was kind though, I ordered a burger which cost 150 rand and it looked like something that shouldn’t cost more than 60 rand, the cheese on the burger looked like something no one should put in their mouth and the pasta my girlfriend had was overcooked and the sauce tasted worse than some cheap store bought bolognaise sauce which for 130 rand is completely unacceptable. The chicken strips were okay but nothing to rave about and at the 120 rand price it was ridiculous. There was a leak in the ceiling next to where we were sitting as well. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone especially because there’s other restaurants in the area like Char’d grill and bar that served us amazing burgers for cheaper than the one I had here. I’m never going to eat here again and I seriously don’t recommend anyone else to waste a meal and their money on this horrible food. Replying to the owners comments: I’m a big burger guy and I can say for certain what I had was not a 180 gram patty first of all, secondly I said the sauce was worse than a store bought bolognaise sauce not that it was bolognaise. I left a tip because the server we had was very kind and I didn’t complain about the food to her as it isn’t her fault it was as bad as it was. If you look below my name you will see that this is my first ever review because I do not typically review places I eat at, my girlfriend usually does that. BUT this time I was so incredibly disappointed with the food and the price of the food that I wrote my first ever review on a restaurant before I even left the place because I couldn’t get over how bad it was. I am not just slandering your restaurant for fun, it has genuinely been the worst non fast food burger I’ve had in YEARS. And you as the owner attacking me based on my experience just solidifies that I’m going to recommend everyone I know not to ever eat at your restaurant. To anyone reading this go eat at Charr’d Grill and wine bar nearby, the service there is great and their food is amazing, our server Bianca served us twice when we went there and both times we were amazingly pleased with the food and even bought some of their signature sauce to take home. Wooden barrel is seriously the bottom of the barrel in the area and for the amount they charge the burgers and pasta are bad and not worth it. I can’t speak on the seafood as I didn’t have any but like I said I’m never going back so I guess I’ll never know.

Restaurant Review: The Wooden Barrel We recently had lunch at The Wooden Barrel, and our experience was highly enjoyable. Our waitress, Catherine, provided excellent service—she was professional, attentive, and had a warm personality. For our meal, we ordered: • Fish and Prawns • Butternut Soup • Sole Meunière The presentation of the food was appealing, and the flavors did not disappoint. The butternut soup was well-prepared, with a smooth texture and a rich, comforting taste. The Fish and Prawns dish was cooked to perfection, and the sauce complemented the seafood beautifully. The sole meunière was particularly impressive—soft, flavourful, and generously portioned. To end our meal, we enjoyed a salted caramel milkshake, which was a delightful way to finish our dining experience. Overall, The Wooden Barrel provided great food and service, making it a restaurant worth visiting.

We were met at the entrance by Francois, what a cheerful chap. No pushing or advertising, just answering questions. We sat outside. There was a lovely cool breeze to keep us cool. We ordered sandwiches and coffees. It was so nice to see the Costa brand advertised. Toasties starting at R55.00 were not going to break the bank. I can imagine that when the tourist season starts they are going to do very well. Thanks Francois for making our visit a memorable one.

Friendly staff and good food! We had the margarita pizza, cheese burger with well spiced chips and crispy onion rings. But the ribs & chips are the star of the show! The excellent view and calm atmosphere on a Sunday afternoon is an added bonus. It’s also pet friendly and our doggy was served with a bowl of water. 10/10 would definitely recommend!

Givemore, our waiter, went ABOVE AND BEYOND, to accommodate us. His knowledge on the food also very commendable. And so friendly! We met the owner who is very humble. Our dinner was EXCELLENT!! Well worth every bite 😋 Highly recommended! Go give them a try - restaurants in Cape Town could learn a lot about customer service if they take a page out of Wooden Barrel’s Book.

What a delightful establishment. I feel in love with it. Our waitress, Stephanie, is a true gem. She was warm and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble and made us feel at home instantly. We went for dinner both nights we were in Hermanus. Our food was delish. Large portions that arrived at the table much quicker than expected. I have nothing other than praise for Stephanie. I will highly recommend this establishment to anyone looking for a comfortable place to spend time. Loved it. Thank you for all.

Tikka Palace is a unique dining spot in Hermanus, offering a diverse range of Indian and Pakistani cuisine. From exotic curries to tantalizing Tandoori dishes, this restaurant provides an authentic experience. With options for vegetarians and vegans such as Vegetable Samoosas, Aloo Gobi, and more, it caters to various dietary preferences. Visitors have praised the prompt service and delicious food at Tikka Palace, making it a must-visit for curry enthusiasts in the area.
Went there for dinner a few nights ago, even though they close at 7pm, they were patient with us and we left at 8pm. We ordered upfront and when we arrived and sat down, our food was brought out immediately. It was hot, fresh and absolutely delicious. We will definitely go back again. They are well worth the 120km from Cape Town. Oh and their garlic Naan is by far the best we have ever had!!! Oh, and one last comment I have to make: The Manager, Hanna is such a delight, welcoming and warm, made us feel like we were having a meal at home.

This is a neat cosy Indian restaurant in the main road of Hermanus. I had the best mouth watering, affordable veg curry here. The restaurant is definitely Worth a visit if you love curry.
Samantha C — Google review
Over priced and under flavored. The cuisine is supposed to be Indian but lacks depth of flavor and heat for them means adding more chili. I hate a curry with a sweet after taste especially when you go in wanting something nice to what you ordinarily if can't sell proper indian food please stop selling this type of food never go back again
Nacumisa N — Google review
The food was tasty but cleanliness is a problem. The furniture was sticky for some reason. Best to order takeaway. However the pricing is a bit on the high side. Since its Halaal and there isnt much choice in the area i would recommend this place.

Service was slow, after notifying the waitron we were going to leave - our starter(potato samoosas) and drinks arrived 50 min after we ordered, the main meal was served 5 min later. The meal choices were badly prepared and not well cooked. While we were waiting for our forgotten meals we were asked to move from our table to make room for a larger group-note we were seated at a two seater. I will Definitely not go to Tikka Palace again.
Pravanee M — Google review
Had amazing Paneer that was oh so tasteful along with a chicken jalfrezi. The naan bread was divine, often you go to restaurants where there iis no distinct taste difference. Tikka Palace however delivers fresh, tasteful and wholesome food that is not heavy on the pocket. The sitdown area may turn people away as it is dark however the food makes up for it 10 fold.

NOT A GOOD EXPERIENCE. THE SERVICES WAS HORRIBLE . WHILE WATING FOR MY ORDER WAS WATCHING THE COCKROACHES ON THE WALL. THEN THE FOOD ARRIVED CLOSE R100 FOR A ONE CURRY ...WITH SMALL RICE . PORTIONS IS SMALL FOR THE WHAT YOU PAY.. WE ORDER CHICKEN LAMB AND SOME NAN IT WAS SALTY AND TASTELESS The whole experience was HORRIBLE AND I FELL LIKE WE WASTED OUR TIME AND MONEY AT THIS ESTABLISHMENT. THERE WAS ALSO NO APOLOGIZE FOR THE TERRIBLE FOOD AND SERVICE I GUESS THIS IS FINE FOR HERMANUS Will NEVER GO THERE AGO OR EVEN SUGGEST IT TO A ANYONE

The waffles, milkshakes, and beer were an absolute delight – a harmonious blend of delectable flavors. The waffles were a culinary masterpiece, perfectly cooked with a delightful balance of crispiness on the outside and a fluffy interior. Each bite was a heavenly experience, leaving a symphony of flavors on the taste buds. The milkshakes were a true indulgence, with a rich and creamy texture that made every sip a delightful journey through a spectrum of delightful tastes. They were the perfect complement to the waffles, creating a gastronomic symphony that was simply unforgettable. As for the beer, it was a refreshing and well-curated selection, enhancing the overall dining experience. The choice of brews added an extra layer of enjoyment, making it an ideal pairing with the waffles and milkshakes. The atmosphere of the establishment was equally impressive. The cozy ambiance, with its warm and inviting decor, provided the perfect setting for a memorable dining experience. I can definitely recommend you visit Belgian Waffles, Beer & Burgers while you are in the Hermanus area. It is a great restaurant to grab something to eat at, whether you're looking for lunch, something sweet, or just a drink. My wife is a big fan of their waffles and I always love to try one of their big selection of Belgian beers. If you're with kids, they also have a diverse selection for them as well, ranging from savoury to sweet. One of the things I really like is that their outside seating area is located just across from the Hermanus Amphitheater and Park area, offering panoramic views of the ocean and a nearby playground for children, making it an ideal spot for families. Overall, I have visited Belgian Waffles, Beer & Burgers numerous times in the past, and will continue to do so in the future.

It was one of those Belgian hazy daze that we were hoping for 6 years in the making. Now called The Belgian, aptly titled as we call my mom this. It lived up to it's predecessors and more. New owners and a wider variety of Belgian beers made this our govto on our last day in Germany's. So happy with the service and ambience on the day meant we stayed way longer tasting a variety of Belgian beers and eatery. Sankhi, our host, was awesome, light-hearted and fun. Everything was freshly cooked , beers cold and accompanied by their respective glasses, which is super important when having a Belgian beer. We were in awe of the atmosphere with a mime, pianist and local kids dancing.

Update was there again this year. The menu changed a bit but the waffles were as great as ever! The food was great! And the service very good. It has a beautiful view of the ocean with shaded outside seating. The Kalfie size is great for a small breakfast. P.S.The chocolate sauce is not just a sugary syrup but actually contains chocolate! All the waffles are sugar-free (without topping) and you can order a gluten-free version.

Had a very nice breakfast there. An omelet with cream cheese and cheddar was very soft and tasty. Nice atmosphere and quick order delivery.

I approached with caution .... fortunately it was a quiet day and the gate attendant allowed me to check the restaurant and menu before paying the entrance fee for my family - the entrance fee is for the Harold Porter National Botanical Garden (one of the loveliest that I have visited and very well worth the R25 fee). We had the option to eat elsewhere but chose to expect a lesser meal for the pleasure of eating in and then walking around the garden. Ordering just basic breakfast dishes, we were all surprised at the very good value. Nothing spectacular, no fancy garnishing, not excessively generous portions, no vibrant staff or management ..... just good ol' down-to-earth and entirely ample portions of good food on a plate .... the milkshakes were double thick already. .... and then we had a lovely walk through the gardens....
Jared N — Google review
Sweet spot in Harold Porter to have something light and simple after a stroll in the delightful gardens or hiking Leopards trail. They don't cope with the pressure of being busy so well but who cares with the beautiful setting and mountains. Not a place to be rushed anyway. And go inside for a yummy ice cream cone to enjoy while you walk....
Marcelle A — Google review
Possibly the worst breakfast I have ever had... staff are rude and ignore you. Coffee was cold, French toast had marmite and raw onion on. Full English breakfast came with a banana on the plate. Shame as the nature reserve is beautiful, will bring a picnic next time.
Clare B — Google review
Baked cheesecake and tea ... don't bother Tea was cold and watered down... a hint of earl. Tea came immediately but cold cake came 15 minutes later. Definitely not worth it. You better off bringing your own picnic to the gardens. The one star is for the beautiful garden setting
Ngool — Google review
Family friendly restaurant, food is reasonably priced, waiters are friendly and trying their best. The restaurant doesn't quite match the world class botanical gardens.
R. A — Google review
I think the term that comes to mind is ''bizarre" (and not in a good way). First, we are informed that there is no coffee available as there is no water. When inquiring whether the water is off the waiter told us, in some unprofessionally colourful language, that no-one puts water in the machine or bothers to switch it on (wow!!!) , so he can only offer cappuccinos and espressos. The waiter clearly did not want to be there and his lackluster attitude is definitely not suitable for the service industry. Halfway through our meal he asked if we are okay and if he can bring the bill. Again, bizarre, at least let the people finish their plates before chasing them away. The food and carrot cake was fine, except for some very dodgy looking mushrooms on one plate, but is a shame that a restaurant with one of the most amazing settings and access to international visitors are embarrassing the beautiful gardens and area with horrible service and mediocre effort. At least two tables left in the short while that we were there due to no service being rendered. Everyone understands that it is a busy time of year, but at least treat your patrons with kindness and respect.
Erica R — Google review
A lovely restaurant in the beautiful botanical garden, Harold Porter, with the most extraordinary scenery and nature trails including a waterfall or two. However, The Red Disa Restaurant was a huge disappointment. We came to celebrate my husband's birthday and I ordered a vegetarian wrap. Apart from receiving dirty cutlery, there were almost no vegetables to be found on the wrap except for a few tasteless carrot sticks and beans. Instead I had salad, which was also part of my plate, to be in the wrap. We then decided to rather not take the risk of ordering a dessert in case we would have been disappointed by that as well. Honestly, I will not advise anyone to have any kind of celebrations/meals at The Red Disa Restaurant. The waitress spoke way too much, not leaving us to have our own conversations as we planned to do. I'm not sure if management pays any attention to reviews like these. Otherwise they would have picked up on the standard of the meals as well as the service. It's really pathetic and sad.

Nestled in the picturesque Betty's Bay, The Whaling Station has long been a beloved dining spot, evolving over the years while retaining its iconic name. This family-run establishment offers a delightful array of traditional Greek dishes alongside fresh seafood and classic favorites like pizzas and burgers. Located on the historic site of the old Waaygat Whaling Station, which operated during the early to mid-1900s, diners can still catch glimpses of remnants from this bygone era.

Jayde R — Google review
I have never written a review before but this place was SO BAD and you deserve a fair warning. This was the only place open in the area so despite the other bad reviews we went anyway. Probably the worst restaurant I’ve ever been too. Pretty sure the staff lives there as they were walking in and out in house clothes and looked liked they had just woken up from a nap. It felt like we were awkwardly sitting in a strangers unkept house. The place has no vibe and awful, overpriced food. My husbands fish was rubbery and not fresh, the crumb coat was burnt and the fish was still cold in the middle. His chips were also cold. It was as if both of our meals were prepared in a microwave. Unless you have no other choice follow the advice of the many others before you and DO NOT EAT HERE. Otherwise you’re better off at the garage next door. The whaling station is such a rip off and you’ll be sure to walk away with an aching stomach. I’m seriously puzzled how this place is still in business.
Sydney A — Google review
Went to a kiddies birthday party in the area and on the way home we were quite hungry so went looking for a place to just get a packed of hot chips for the family to share until we got back to our area for a proper lunch Stopped at the first place we saw and went in. Unfortunately there was a bit of a communication barrier, but that was fine. The food that we ordered really was not what we expected. We paid a lot of money for really small portions and unfortunately it really was not good. Both my husband and I were feeling quite ill when we got home, but thankfully both our kids were fine I noted that they had a 4 star from trip advisor, but in my opinion I would not agree with this. Please don't get me wrong, the people were friendly and the restaurant was mostly clean, but this really was not a good experience. Unsure of how any of the other meals are, but I would not recommend the calamari and chips.
Leanne K — Google review
Stopped off for a bite to eat, good service and "ok" food, nothing to write home about. The place needs a major upgrade, should be entirely overhauled! It feels like you're in a time capsule that's stuck in the 70's. The place really sucks the life of out you. Everything is old and falling apart, not very clean. I feel like I'm being harsh as the owner was nice, but next time I'm in Betty's Bay I'd get a pie and Coke from the petrol station next-door instead.
Clinton M — Google review
We went to try this restaurant as it is now under new management. None of the staff wear masks,no hand sanitizer. Food mediocre. While we were seated, a teenager walked through the eating area pulling "zap signs",and then while later walked through again smacking the wall in anger. We decided to leave and didn't finish our meal, and then when we went to pay, they also overcharged on the bill. As locals we will never return and will warn our friends.
Gerry M — Google review
They served instant coffee and charged ridiculous prices for it. The food was mediocre and slightly undercooked. The staff were friendly but there were no covid protocols and no masks worn. I would definitely not recommend, there are definitely better places in Betty's Bay for coffee and food.

Shocking food. Food was very little. Undercooked. Out of a box, still frozen. Overpriced. Owner carried her dog into the kitchen. They should be out of business. Would love to know when last they were checked by the health and safety department.

He is funny, polite, and genuinely passionate about ensuring every guest has a wonderful time. He went out of his way to accommodate us, making us feel like family rather than customers. His attention to detail and kindness truly elevated our entire experience. The food was outstanding. It was incredibly fresh, bursting with authentic flavours, and clearly made with the highest quality ingredients. Every dish we tried was a testament to the love and tradition behind real Italian cooking. On top of that, the service was impressively fast without ever feeling rushed. The food is lovely here, we’ve had most of the pasta and pizza dishes here before. This time we had a focaccia, the pasta alla gricia, pizza calabrese, pasta alla capri and a carbonara pasta it was all really delicious and very flavoursome. The portion sizes are really good 👌🏼 Lovely variety of well priced wines as well, which are super to enjoy with your meal! The ice cream is also really good, and homemade!

What an absolute gem! We popped into On the Edge at the nature reserve, and it was such a treat. This isn’t your fancy fine-dining spot—it’s a laid-back, authentic fish-and-chips style restaurant, and it’s absolutely amazing! I had the hake and chips (crispy, golden perfection 🍴) while my husband indulged in the biggest and coolest milkshake I’ve ever seen—it was such a fun surprise! If you’re traveling with kids, I’d recommend packing a few coloring pages to keep them busy while you wait for your freshly prepared food. Had fried hake, nice portion however the 'margarine sauce' spoilt the food, crispy fish became soggie, they defrosted the fish in water and this was evident in the fish...water As for the chips, it looked like oily and soggie. Nothing was crispy!! This place needs a wake-up call. Seems to run itself. Was so disappointed!

First waiter to serve me was lovely and very helpful! I just wanted a couple of takeaway drinks and she told me what was available. Unfortunately she was just about to switch shifts. The second waiter to serve me had a horrid attitude when the first was so kind. When asked if she was happy taking our order she said no, perhaps as a joke but her colleague was also taken aback by this. She then takes my order and tells me to go grab it. The fridge is visible but in the staff only section, I go and take the drinks and she then gives me the most foul look! Totally ruined my experience of bettys bay

Popped into this Deli on a rainy winter afternoon and so glad we did. The atmosphere is warm and friendly, the perfect little spot for a hot drink and a pastry or cake. Walk through the green entrance into a little cafe with lots of light and interesting knicknacks. Before sitting down to order, I suggest you explore the deli section with its fabulous fresh produce, cheeses, bottled goods, meat, honey, natural beauty products, and much more. And those pastries and baked goods you see, yes, you can order something delectable from there with your coffee or hot choc....and it's hard to choose! The deli has unique items that are hard to find and high-quality produce and imported goods. Highly recommended. Does get very busy, tho, as people drive in from out of town just to go to the deli.

Lomond Wine Estate is located on the Agulhas Plain near Gansbaai, South Africa. The estate offers a variety of red and white wines for tasting, along with a small menu featuring commendable options like the fig and camembert toastie. Visitors can also enjoy mountain bike trails and clean facilities. The farm's unique location near the ocean and surrounded by indigenous fynbos contributes to its wonderful wine production and overall visitor experience.
Not to be missed, no fuss, down to earth wine tasting with an abundant and tasty platter. A lot nicer staff and service and less pretentious than the large wineries in western cape. Recommend the brut rosé and pincushion.

Beautiful wine estate the view for me was💯 stuff very friendly and professional we arrived close to closing time but they still gave us a great customer service💯 I did the red wine tasting I found the wine's body to be lighter that I would prefer... Overall it's was a great afternoon with friends and I would give it a 9/10👌💯

Started off a family members birthday celebrations here. Lovely fire going on this winters day which is always such a bonus when venturing out. The lady who help us was so sweet and patient as we were a big group and she was the only 1 working on the 12th of July. Enjoyed the wines & views.
Outside S — Google review
Our waiter from past Easter Saturday 2025 in courtyard spent to much time with larger groups and only came to our table to provide us with our 6 tastings, which happened in 2 sets. First 3 white tastings then 20min later the 3 red tastings. He also forgot our order that's was placed from kiddies menu for our daughter. I tried to engage about the Belladona 🍾 but he was not interested. Just poured our tastings and walked away.... We ended up leaving after 60min.... Lastly When I paid with my Absa savings account (red card) and gave him a tip he made a sarcastic remark, "can that card tap or must you insert it" . That did not sit well with me. We will not be back anytime soon....

Its a bit out in the sticks, but well worth the visit. The view from the tasting room is peaceful and beautiful. The wines are great and well priced. The lady who served us was very knowledgeable.

The road to this wine farm, especially, after the recent heavy rains, has to be negotiated with caution if you travel in a normal sedan. A heartly welcome greedted us. A very small playground for small children is at the premisis. They do have a variety of red and white wines, which can be tasted for a fee. A small menu is available and the fig + camenbear toastie is commendable.👍 Some mountain bikes trails can be cycled. Bathroom was clean. This winery is most definitely commendable.

We came for the 3 day Yeti Trail Race but enjoyed a lovely wine tasting and light snack. Staff were a attentive and knowledgeable. It would have been great to have a broader menu. The place is beautiful and has so much potential. Would do the cheese and trout platter next time.

This view from the tasting room was just breathtaking. The layout is nice and modern and spacious. There are various different wine tastings, and they offer a sweet pairing done with nougat. There are various platters as well. It's definitely worth a visit!

Simply Asia in Hermanus offers a delightful journey into authentic Thai cuisine, crafted by skilled native chefs. Guests can savor an array of dishes, including flavorful stir-fries and aromatic red and green curries, all served in a serene setting complemented by soothing Asian melodies. The restaurant prides itself on delivering high-quality meals while ensuring attentive service from its friendly staff. Although the ambiance may be understated, diners appreciate the generous portion sizes and overall quality of food.
Traditional Phad Thai with Prawn...Yummy don't for forget the Yummy Sweet treats 😉
Jomari M — Google review
I came for the sushi and not the ambiance. The sushi they definitely delivered! The rice was well cooked (something I'm very picky about when eating sushi) and the variety was delicious. What I did found lacking was the way the restaurant was designed (super huge fast food vibe going on) and the drinks menu. Bright lights with very little intimacy, coupled with a very limited selection of wine and spirits made me realize, this is 'take away'. Even though I enjoyed delicious sushi and was blessed with great service, I did feel like I was enjoying it in a rebranded McDonald's.
Hanco K — Google review
Very good service and great food. Great for all kinds of people as there is a large menu with vegetarian options and different levels of spiciness - or no chilli at all. The menu covers Thai food, curries and stir frys with rice and noodle dishes. Waiters are very attentive and friendly. Prices are good; R70 - R80 for a meal, with rice or noodles included. Definitely recommended.
Ali D — Google review
The food is good and the quantities also ok. There is no real ambiance, but it's not too cold.... Just one point, there was one real negative. One diner asked for some sweet chilli sauce to add to the dish. A tiny saucer was brought to table and an extra R10 was added to the bill. Not cool!
Sarah K — Google review
Apr 29 lunch: This outlet is not near the village square but on the lane behind. The outlet is quite bright with the large windows and gives a good view of the road and also the sea. For starters, we had the veg spring rolls and sweet corn cakes. Both were well made and not too oily. While the mushroom roasted chilli stir fry tasted good, the tofu stir fry wasn't that good cos of the tofu. The tofu was quite chewy. The service was standard. The food quality is generally of the same standard as one would find in their other outlets.
Maulin P — Google review
Hi all, this has been one of the worst meals I have had in Hermanus the meal took 1.5 hours to prepare and while our food was being prepared the waitress let's us know that one of the sauces aren't available we then opted for a different option, once the food eventually arrived, two of the dishes were cold. And this after we had waited 30-40 minutes before being recognized by the staff, the chef is clearly over their head, and this issue needs to be addressed for this business to succeed.
Roy S — Google review
What a waste of our time ... After being seated, we were ignored while 5 further tables were seated and had their drinks and meal orders taken. When the waitress eventually came she seemed confused about what we needed. When I then commented that we'll now have to wait for the other tables orders to be processed after being ignored, the response was to shrug her shoulders. You cannot rate the service when you haven't received any.
G S — Google review
Great food but not the best atmosphere. More Spur like as one can expect from franchises. I guess difficult to attain an authentic Thai experience when your staff are all South African

This charming brewery boasts an impressive selection of Belgian-inspired beers, including Weiss, IPA, and Stout. Visitors can indulge in tastings of various brews—though some are exclusively available in bottles. The inviting atmosphere extends beyond the drinks; the food menu features delicious options like pizzas with crisp thin bases and fresh toppings that are sure to satisfy your cravings.
For every 4x4 enthusiast, this is one of the best. Great scenic views, great trails and everything about it is just fantastic. It has a bit of everything on this trail, it has sand, mud, gravel, rocks, water, hills, down hills, dry sand, wet sand, loose stones and much more. Highly recommended and definitely one of my favourite places to do 4x4'ng

Craft is dead, long live Craft! We went looking for a brewery that would give us that old feeling of discovering a hidden gem & Honingklip is exactly that. What you want to do is order a beer (preferably one named after one of the barmen) then sit at the bar and get them to talk about the thing they love; beer. Having been at it for over a decade, they know a thing or two & have veeery strong opinions about it. You won't need a beard to enjoy this place but it won't hurt to bring one.

Still the best in the Overberg for good beer, platters and pizzas and.......surprises. Mark and Annelize makes one feel at home, even to the extent of sharing a little something special. Dogs and well-behaved children always welcome, no douf-douf music, just clean crisp Botrivier air and sunshine.

I have been to the Honingklip Brewery just outside Botriver multiple times and I have always had a good time. They have quite a large range of beers available including a Weiss, IPA and Stout, and you can even do a tasting of some of them (some of the beers are only available in bottles and not for tasting). We only visited for some beers, but you can also grab something to eat here and the food did look very nice. One of the things I love about the brewery is the view you get from the outside seating area and it has a perfect view of the children's playground as well so parents can also relax a bit. We had a good time and will definitely be back.

I initially visited Coffee on Clarens specifically for their renowned cupcakes. Fortunately, they graciously allowed me to pre-order one due to their rapid sell-out rate. Not only did the cupcake look stunning, but it also tasted divine. As a coffee aficionado, I indulged in a superb cup of coffee that lived up to my expectations. Many thanks for the exceptional service. I will definitely make it a point to stop by whenever I'm passing through Betty's Bay.

Fantastic location. Poor experience. Went with my toddler so that she can play outside and that we can have lunch. Asked if we could sit outside, which they said is fine. When I ordered sparkling water and on my way to order food, we were asked to move inside as they had a bigger group coming in later Don’t say one thing and then deny service because we aren’t drinking alcohol. I say this specifically as we were only asked to move inside after I declined doing a tasting.

We did a very nice wine tasting here. The wine was very nice and the stories with it were interesting too. The view is great with a view of the vineyards and it is stylishly decorated inside. The staff is enthusiastic and nice. We had ordered small snacks that match the flavors of the wine. We hadn't imagined this too much, but the snacks were super tasty and looked great!! For us this was the perfect trip with less nice weather. Inside you can sit warm.

Located in the town of Gansbaai, the 1895 Danger Point Lighthouse stands tall at 18.3 meters and is named after the small peninsula where it sits, known for causing the tragic sinking of the HMS Birkenhead in 1852. Visitors can climb its stairs for stunning views, but note that weekend visits are usually not possible. The lighthouse was built following the shipwreck and offers a glimpse into maritime history.
Loved it. Beautiful views. Leaned a lot about the lighthouse and the different lights used. And only R20 for an adult.
Lu-Gerda K — Google review
The lighthouse has a tremendous history and is a good choice to visit. It is just the terrain - I feel more can be done - water the lawn and do some gardening. Keep the gardens in tact.

Awesome to hear the sad story of the HMS Birkenhead and how dangerous our part of Africa is for travelling ships. Went up 99 stairs to the light that is operaring on a daily basis to warn other ships from our treacherous shores. Little coffee shop with coffee and snacks. Really a food experience. Thank you to all who made this possible.

Very interesting for us to go inside the Danger Point Lighthouse. It was clean and well maintained. The views from the top are beautiful. The lighthouse was commissioned on 1 January 1895 after the sinking of the HMS Birkenhead Troopship on the night of 26 February 1852. Pity there wasn't a place to enjoy some coffee and cake as the views are awesome.

Danger Point Lighthouse is not just scenic—it’s packed with history about shipwrecks, whales, sharks, and the marine life around Klienbaai and Stanford dunes. The views of the ocean are stunning, and learning about the area’s past adds a deeper connection to the surroundings. A peaceful, insightful stop worth visiting

Great mall, but whoever thought it was a good idea to charge R2 to use the bathrooms was not thinking. Few people walk around with coins in their pockets nowadays. So please catch up to the 2020s and drop this archaic practice that went out in the 1980s.
Dawid B — Google review
This is exactly what Hermanus needs! It helps with the traffic, especially around the holiday season, by drawing some of the people outside the town. It also gives everyone more options. Which is great, especially for those last minute gifts, I am talking specifically to you, men! There is also a wonderful cinema available, combined with all the amazing restaurants found there, makes this an ideal place for young people to get together and 'hang out'.
Daniel R — Google review
It is a decent mall for the area with a few of the necessary chain stores. We had a pretty cold weekend in Hermanus during peak summer during the Christmas period and needed to buy warm clothing for the whole family which was very difficult to come across. The staff in most of the stores were welcoming and helpful.
Fadila I — Google review
Generally, malls are pretty similar but this one is easily the largest in this area. It dominates the shopping scene, but also berings with it hordes of people, especially on weekends. All the regular stoes are present and there is a wide variety of options though it could do with a Game store as well. The main issue is the fact that you have to pay for the bathrooms which is poor policy. It's a pity that this detracts from the amply parking in a mall which has such an excellent location.

As you approach the lighthouse, prepare to be captivated by panoramic views of the vast ocean stretching out before you.
Nice place to visit. From the lighthouse u can walk little bit more and u will the an empty whit sand beach. Quite snd noone there. U can enjoy the sun and swim there as well
Viết V — Google review
Hangklip Lighthouse is some distance away from Pringle Bay but the drive out along High Level Road is worth it. The environment is pretty safe, but the waves feel untamed and rough. There appears to be good fishing as well with many people out there, though one should always be cautious fishing from the rocks as the sea is unpredictable. The lighthouse itself was closed on our visit but it's easily visible from the Massbaai Slipway. The most direct route to the lighthouse is along the jeep track for about 1km, though there is also a longer path along the beach.

By far one of the best breakfasts we have eaten around capetown and hermanus. It’s stunning delicious and after it had been delivered to our table we were breathless. Fantastic, delicious, right on point. Thanks for this gorgeous hour of time we ve could spend on your restaurant. If I could give 10* this restaurant would have got a 10 from me. Lovely!

We had lunch here. The food is superb. Clean and freshly made. Each dish is a feast to the eye and is delicious. The kids loved the marshmallow and Nutella sandwich as a desert.

Cozy living room like place. Waiters are super friendly and fast, kitchen slow if crowded. Food creative and good, but far away from original (pancakes are more french crepes, and french toast w/o maple syrup just isnt the real deal. Smashed Avo plate w. egg absolut fantastic.

Awesome place, very healthy options to kick start your day! Really enjoyed my Yellow bfast with added bacon. The fritters were to die for! I also had a Popeye Juice, it literally gave a good feel boost. Highly recommend this place for any occasion.

Probably the best lunch spot in Hermanus. The menu has an excellent array of options, the food is fresh and flavoursome and the service was great. It would be a mistake to not eat here... Try the pancakes, the salads, the iced coffee, basically anything!

You'll have a Whale of a time... Hermanus is a seaside town southeast of Cape Town, Western Cape Province, South Africa. The Hermanus Cliff Path offers spectacular views of whales from land. Known as a whale-watching spot, it's beaches are also beautiful, Voëlklip Beach and Grotto Beach, overlook Walker Bay. There are so many beautiful restaurants and cafés we ate well, then spent the afternoon Whale watching. The cliff-face is a live ocean theatre, where the whales give birth... Today we saw a baby swimming and yesterday the large mother breached the ocean water nine (9) times... There a museum, the 'Old Harbour Museum' where you can explore the history of the site, which includes, - The old harbour, - The fishermen’s village - The Whale House Museum There are informative displays and the children will be #Gobsmacked by the suspended skeleton of a whale. The Southern Right Whales breeding and calving in Walker Bay is from June to December; it's truly a bucket list Town... This beautiful coastal town, is also a vibrant local wine region found in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley... The 'Whale Festival' is an annual event celebrating a range of activities from late September to early October. Beyond Southern Right Whales, visitors can also see Humpback and Bryde's Whales, along with seals, dolphins, and penguins. 12km Cliff in Hermanus Hermanus coastal cliffs, the Cliff Path is one of South Africa's most spectacular and well-known coastal walks. The journey starts at the New Harbour and hugs the coastline all the way to Grotto beach. Come prepared to experience nature's most wonderful creatures... It worth doing a weather check as there is a range of sunny days, but Cape Town is known also for it's windy days (4 Seasons in one day is the phrase). Thank you Hermanus for sharing your beautiful whales with us...

Beautiful views, but just missing something. Lots of shops and very good eateries but bit higgledy piggledy not very good for shopping in our opinion, but others may love it. If you like a hike there is a cliff path that you can use to try and watch whales. You'll also get to see some playful dassies but don't touch they carry rabies.

A popular restaurant with good seafood platter and a variety of steaks etc. Steak wasn't very big and didn't come with any fries. Good wine selection and a wine waiter who knows his stuff, brought us a perfect light but full of flavour red wine.

Was lovely tasting but the fact that the meue said. Ciabatta and it was French loaf, and the prawn was ONE shrimp. We topped up our own wine and water. Waited was not very interested in us and wines were out of stock. So disappointing.

Apart from the amazing view, the food was below average. The cocktails were sugar based. We were greeted by an extremely rude and unhelpful waitress. Golf club
Kleinmond Golf Club is a delightful 9-hole course located about 100 kilometers from Cape Town, offering an enjoyable golfing experience amidst stunning mountain and ocean views. With its unique layout featuring 18 tee boxes, players can easily play the course twice for added fun. The greens are well-maintained and provide a pleasant playing surface, while the tee boxes are in excellent shape.
Kleinmond golf course is a great little gem about 100kms down the coast from Cape Town. It’s a 9 hole layout with 18 tee boxes. Nestled between dramatic mountains with pimp ocean views, the course is in about as good a condition as you can expect from a small town track. Greens are spongy, decent pace and the tee boxes are in great condition. The course gets loads of water running down from the mountains and on one fairway there’s even mountain water flowing from underground, a natural spring making the walk to the par 3’s green soggy. All the usual wildlife prowls the course, ducks, hadedas, kwikstertjies, laksmans and they have a very active mole community. The fairways are often slanted and firm. The first cut is sandy and pretty tough to play from, fat strikes become textbook short bunker shots. The course is carved into the lower slopes of the hills and features scenic walks in between the fynbos, now flowering aggressively. Part of the magic of golf is that it allows access to a grand public good - an immaculate garden, designed to be enjoyed by its users, maintained by people who love it. To not only enjoy nature, but specifically to experience nature that has been manipulated with skillful passion, is something that golf shares with few other pastimes. It’s pretty great and I wish for everyone to find something like it. 10:00 AM shotgun start! (10:35ish really): The first hole is a blind par 3 with a sign reading “No practice swings on TEE”, the capitalization is what does it for me. Our group all played from the the red tees, which was nice as men and women tee off in any order. I’ve often thought that golf is especially daunting for a new lades since they always tee off last and men usually start walking the moment they make contact. Halfway, players were greeted with worsbroodjies, shots, and 80s bangers. The lady braaing the wors right next to the 18th/9th green even offered me a cigarette. Friendly banter was shared and we laughed and cheered the day away. All the older members told stories about their kids living overseas. It sparks a sense of responsibility in me that seeks to support clubs like Kleinmond in any way I can. Someone will have to take the reins eventually and a good amount of the younger generation is simply not here. Anyway. The prizegiving was everything you’d expect it to be. Loud cheering and prizes sponsored by local businesses - podium finishes getting meat packs, probably the best prize possible. 10/10 can recommend and looking forward to the next one. I heard a great story from a member, Kleinmond used to be the course of choice for ex president Pik Botha and his boys. Years ago, when this member played in his very first Saturday morning competition, himself and a friend got completely stuck in the bar and by the time the afternoon field finished up they were sitting on the stoep, loudly commenting, cheering and booing everyone finishing up. Among those groups was Verwoerd with his friends and and army of caddies. They were hilariously not spared any inputs. The following Monday the new member received a stern phone call informing him that his behavior was woefully inappropriate and that it’s now a point of discussion and requires drastic change. Small town courses like Kleinmond need to be cherished. There’s a completely different feeling to many Cape Town courses- where the first word that describes members might be entitled. The club is a true cornerstone of the community, filled with friendly people who helped the club grow into what it is today. There’s a palpable willingness to include anyone that takes the time. Take the time and go immerse yourselves nou en dan.
Gems G — Google review
Great little technical mashie to play. 9 hole course you can play twice. Great little outing. Visited on a public holiday. Only irk I got was from the 'local club members' who seem to do what they want when they want. If you can overlook 'Piet and Koos' with their small town god complex, and ignore the locals this is a good outing. Bring your cart. They didn't seem to have nearly enough golf carts. It's quite an exhausting walk and play.

The tasting room may not be on the estate itself, but the cozy atmosphere and affordable wine tastings make it a must-visit.
We had a great tasting yesterday. The "man with the golden earrings" referred to so negatively in previous reviews was great! Witty and perceptive. We enjoyed his service. We enjoy the quirky touches to this wine collection. My favourite to drink today is Kaal voet meisie and to lie down for a while Swartskaap.

Its an amazing wine tasting , but mainly because of the great wines, the tasting room isn't in a beautiful estate (the farm is some way away) but the staff (nadine was our sommelier) were engaging, funny and helpful and we felt like we were in any great wine estates tasting venue. HPF wines have long been one of my favourite especially "Die Kat met die hout been" , "Kaalvoet meisie" and "Kleinboet" , 3 exceptionally easy "relatively" affordable wines. I'll be back

Spent 3 nights here on our trip to South Africa, and immensely enjoyed White Water Farm. We booked the Gatehouse Cottage and had the most relaxing stay. Loved the secluded feeling offered, and it was amazing sitting on the porch, reading a book and watching the springboks outside. The pool area offered a welcome break from the heat and to relax at. And then the food – it was simply amazing. The breakfast was delicious and the highlight of the morning, and the braai baskets and burgers were great. Very much appreciated cooking ourselves over the wood-fired braai. The potato bakes were divine. We also very much enjoyed the muesli, and unfortunately only brought back a single pack – next time we’re stocking up. Planning our next trip to South Africa now and White Water Farm is definitely on the list of places we’re returning to!

The tranquil atmosphere at Pearly Beach enhances the magic of horseback riding, as riders are accompanied by beautiful horses and a friendly team dedicated to ensuring everyone feels safe and comfortable.
Sarah,Kos and team were fantastic! Very relaxed, yet very profesional. Individual attention and putting your safety first at all times. Horses are beautiful and well behaved. The sunset drive was amazing with lots of variety, fun & run on the beach and dunes. An experience I will never forget.
Nicolene Z — Google review
A 10 star experience!! My husband (novice rider) and I (more experienced rider) went on a beach ride multiple times and we absolutely loved it each time! The horses are just amazing and very well looked after. Galloping along the beach and through the dunes was a once in a lifetime experience (every time we went ;-)). Special thanks to Sarah, Kos and Emilia who truly are wonderful people - we couldn‘t have asked for better guides. We have been on quite a few trail rides all over the world and this one is definitely among the best. We can only recommend booking a horse ride with them and we will certainly be back!
Veronika K — Google review
I had an absolutely wonderful experience with Sarah and her team. The horses are well taken care of and they definitely prioritise safety of the rider. The trail takes you to a secluded beach where you can gallop on the beach (with the right experience level). Would definitely recommend to everybody!
Laura T — Google review
A Disappointing Adventure I recently participated in a beach horseback riding excursion that turned out to be a truly traumatizing experience. What was meant to be an enjoyable outing quickly devolved into a series of unfortunate events that I feel compelled to share. First, I was completely unprepared for the group size. No one had informed me that we would be riding with six other people, which significantly impacted the quality and personalization of the experience. The weather conditions were absolutely terrible. It's incomprehensible that the organizers proceeded with the ride despite clear forecasts of rain and cold temperatures. They should have canceled the event out of consideration for both riders and horses. Instead, we were forced to wait on horseback in the pouring rain while all riders were being mounted and situated - a process that took far too long. By the time we finally reached the beach, I was completely frozen, soaked to the bone, and miserable. The harsh wind and relentless rain made the experience unbearable. To make matters worse, my boots kept slipping in the stirrups, which had broken protective covers - creating a safety hazard. To add insult to injury, I was forbidden from wearing gloves. The staff claimed that gloves would reduce the sensitivity in my hands - which is absolute nonsense. Any experienced rider knows that gloves are essential in cold, wet conditions both for grip and protection. The horses themselves were completely unsuitable for this type of excursion. Once on the open beach, they became practically unmanageable, with several breaking away into a canter without warning or rider input. As a moderately experienced rider, I found this extremely challenging and frankly dangerous. I refuse to mistreat horses by forcing them to comply in situations where they're clearly uncomfortable. I've since discussed this experience with two of my riding instructors who confirmed that they had similarly negative experiences. These were not school horses appropriate for leisurely rides. They were unsuitable for the advertised experience and the stated skill level of participants. I cannot recommend this adventure to anyone, regardless of riding ability.

Pearly Beach Horse Trails is a hidden gem! The serene atmosphere of Pearly Beach combined with the majestic beauty of the horses creates a truly enchanting experience. The staff at Pearly Beach Horse Trails are friendly ,knowledgeable and attentive, ensuring that both beginners and experienced riders feel comfortable and safe throughout the journey. Riding along the sparkling shoreline with the wind in your hair and the sun on your face is simply magical. We also had the opportunity to swim with the horses which was absolutely amazing! I highly recommend Pearly Beach Horse Trails for an unforgettable and soul-soothing adventure. 🐎🌊
Andrea S — Google review
Highly recommend!! This is a must if you are in South Africa and want to experience a lifetime experience from your bucket list. Sarah and her team are amazing, they are all very caring and do everything to make your experience perfect. Her horses are amazing, I have never seen such well behaved horses! Many of the horses here are rescued, which I like very much, and they all care very much about the well-being of the horses. Here you will experience a ride along the most beautiful beach, swimming with horses in the sea and, for the more experienced, a ride in the sand dunes. Sarah and her husband film everything and take pictures on a gopro, so you will also get a beautiful video as a memory. A big plus is that experienced riders and beginners can go on the ride together, and everyone will have their own fun here! I will definitely come back here, this was one of the most beautiful experiences of my life! If you love horses and love SA, this is for you!! Thank you Sarah and Kos for a wonderful experience.

We had the most amazing time doing a beach ride and swim with Pearly Beach Horse Trails. The horses are well cared for and they match you with a horse that fits your experience as well as personality. We had perfect weather and we were able to canter down the beach, swim on the horses, and canter back through the dunes. They looked after my partner who doesn't have much experience riding , making sure everyone was safe and able to enjoy the ride to their own experience level. I can't recommend this experience enough. Thank you Sarah and the team!!!

We had such a great time with the whole team today. We were lucky enough that there had been a couple of cancellations which meant we were just the four of us. Two adults and two children (13 and 11). All of us are beginners and that team did such a fantastic job at helping us feel comfortable and also helping us try new things. All of the horses were so well matched to us and we all came away saying we’d love to do it again. Even though we didn’t have the best weather we had the best time!

Winter time and the greens is tip top, some of the best greens in western cape. True roll to the line. The course is a good links layout and is not your normal parklands golf course. Not upscale but still decent. Clubhouse with bar and breakfast on competition days. Competitions on Wednesday, Fridays and Saturdays. Clean and a personal touch the permanent members bring to the club. The fairways have suffered severely aro the drought. Nice for a golf day for many a vacationer.

Wonderful course, taxing and a great challenge. The greens are out of this world good. And playing the southernmost golf course in Africa is very special. Greatly recommended.

Heart of Abalone (Pty) Ltd offers an immersive tour of their sea farm, providing insights into the biology, lifecycle, and conservation efforts involved in rearing 14 million abalone. The farm plays a crucial role in supplying legitimately cultivated quotas of this seafood, thereby combating illegal poaching. Visitors are advised to book ahead and follow instructions for the tour, which includes wearing warm clothing and bringing socks for the gumboots.
We had such a fantastic time at The Heart of Abalone! The entire team was so welcoming and professional, and a special thank you goes to Kurt, who guided us through a very detailed and insightful tour of the site. I had never heard of abalone before, so this was an incredibly interesting and educational experience. The tour was informative without being overwhelming, and it gave us a real appreciation for the work and care that goes into abalone farming. Thank you again for making it such a memorable visit. I would highly recommend this tour and tasting to anyone looking for something unique and fascinating in Hermanus.
Priscilla H — Google review
It was a really fun family outing. Be sure to book ahead of time to ensure you get a spot, and follow their instructions (warm clothing and bring socks for the gumboots). Get there early because there's quite a bit to look at inside and then you can grab a nice seat in front for the demonstration. Suggestions for improvement: the tour guides could have been slightly better informed, since they weren't able to answer all of the group's questions (perhaps keep notes of recurring questions?) It would also have been nice to see the canning facilities as well as learn something about the growth of actual pearls.
Claire S — Google review
Thank you so much for the incredibly interesting and informative abalone tour. It was truly fascinating to gain insight into the entire process – from cultivation to export – and to see firsthand how this remarkable operation supports the local community while also attracting emerging international markets to our town. I left with a deeper appreciation for the industry and the positive impact it has on Hermanus.
HERMANUS E — Google review
Kurt was a friendly easy going and knowledgeable guide. As a guide that has worked in Asia , traveled widely and is educated he brought nuanced and practical information to the tour. It was fascinating learning about the life cycle of the abalone as well the sustainable practices that are used on the sea farm. We also enjoyed the tasting after and purchased a tin of abalone. A definite must do experience for anyone visiting Hermanus.
Haanim E — Google review
This was an amazing, informative and cullinary experience which we did not expect (4.7👌). Our guide, Kurt, was very knowledgeable on the subject of abalone, Hermanus and the history of fishing in the area, and he made it a memorable tour. It was only sad that we were only 2 people on his guided tour that day. You have to walk a short distance but the terrain is easy and you are provided with gumboots. For an additional amount you can do a tasting. We certainly enjoyed it. An email which you receive after booking online provides all the nitty gritty re. directions to the venue, socks with the boots required, etc. Read your email. Thank you Kurt and HOA, we truly enjoyed our outing.
Annali K — Google review
I knew nothing about Abalone before I came to this farm and was genuinely impressed. Just wanted to do the tasting which we missed out on. However, this is an incredible experience.

With a carefully curated selection of secondhand books covering various genres, this charming shop offers an enriching browsing experience. The staff are exceptional and provide exemplary service, going the extra mile to help customers find specific titles. Despite being secondhand, most books are in mint condition and priced affordably.
I Highly recommend this beautiful store and stunning books! Excellent service, a friendly, warm and knowledgeable team of staff. It is a happy place. This is on my list of top places to visit again in Hermanus.

The best non-charity bookshop in Hermanus because it has it all: ♡ Fantastic selection with a good mix of kooky and normal. ♡ Great staff that know books and want to help. ♡ Large shop. ♡ Decent prices. ♡ It even has manga. ♡ The shelf signs make me laugh.
Day W — Google review
One of the best second-hand bookstores I've been to. Extremely well organised with a large variety of unusual genres. An absolute gem of a bookstore!
Xenia R — Google review
The dreaded happened and I ended up travelling and camping over the Easter weekend without a book! Decided to visit this gem of a bookshop based on good Google reviews, location and my affinity for leopards. Certainly was not disappointed! I had a very enriching and engaging browse. This bookshop is everything one could hope for in browsing secondhand books. A very mindfully crafted selection, the cream of the crop covering all genres and clearly organised and marked out. These book keepers know what they’re doing and what to look out for, you can feel the passion and care behind each shelf. Thoughtfulness behind trying to have complete series stocked of favourites. Books are all in near-mint condition, costing about R90 per book on average. May feel pricier than other secondhand shops- but truly worth its weight in the pleasurable experience- books practically jump off the shelves which can be a tough feat secondhand book shopping. I surprised myself leaving with 6 novels! Shop is also very accessible, easy parking and located right at the entrance of the shopping centre. Staff are all wonderful and offer a perfect balance of help and privacy to explore. Thank you ! Good to know you are here!

I never miss an opportunity to stock up on good reads at the best bookshop in Hermanus! Despite being second-hand, most of the books are in mint condition AND priced at an absolute steal. If you're looking for an unforgettable adventure in South Africa, look no further than Shark Bookings. This fantastic service specializes in arranging thrilling encounters with the majestic great white sharks, making it a must-try experience for any thrill-seeker. Many travelers rave about their seamless organization and exceptional customer service provided by Dave Caravias, who goes above and beyond to ensure your day is nothing short of spectacular.
My husband and I had the pleasure of Dave Caravias helping us with all of our encounters though shark bookings and we can only say positive things about him. He emailed me back and forth for 2 months before our trip giving us info and answering our questions and continued to email us during our trip when it looked like our shark cage diving was going to get cancelled as well as our seal snorkeling which we were devastated about, but thanks to Dave, he did everything he could to make them both still work but rearranging the days and changing location if need. We are very glad and thankful for Dave’s hard working and caring attitude as well as his quick responses to emails and emailing even during not business hours when needed. We enjoyed our shark cage dive with the circumstances of it being their winter and the visibility not being the best in the water but we still saw some sharks and had a fun experience. Our seal snorkeling we ended up doing our of Simons town and the seals weren’t very playful the day we did it I guess and didn’t swim close to us but we still got to see them swimming in the water and got some film of them as well as we saw lots of whales from the boat on our trip, including one being super close to the boat! Thank you Dave and Shark bookings for helping our South Africa trip be great!

I took the decision to see great white sharks about 6 years ago as had always wanted to do it, one of the best things I’ve done. I was fortunate enough to discover shark bookings as it was tied in with the guesthouse we were staying at (The Roundhouse). What an experience. Dave arranged everything for us and just can’t fault the service, needless to say I’ve been back every year since and wouldn’t use any other company. Highly recommended
Chris M — Google review
Such an amazing experience all round. Dave has always been a great host every time we go and cant recommend him highly enough. We always stay at the round house with the games room, jacuzzi and pool but the actual shark dive itself is absolutely out of this world. Cant wait to be back there in October to do it all again.

Where do you start with a review of a truly wonderful experience.........Sharkbookings owner and staff are the greatest. We were traveling to South Africa and wanted to take a couple days to shark dive in Gansbaai the famous Shark Alley. I found Sharkbookings online and they made all the arrangements, picked us up in Capetown (the owner Dave and his Jawsome license plate 😁) drove us to DeKelders with a stop at a Penguin sanctuary, we stayed at the fabulous Roundhouse B+B (part of our dive package) we were taken on a tour to The Cape of Good Hope with a stop at a winery ( not part of package but added on thru Sharkbookings) after 3 days we were driven back to Capetown. Those 3 days were the highlight of a fantastic trip to South Africa, I was able to Cage Dive with Great White Shark a bucket list item since 1975, definitely going back and will book thru Sharkbookings!!!!

What a fantastic day ! I can`t thank Dave enough for helping to make this happen, a truly memorable experience. If you are ever in Gansbaai or Cape Town set aside some time for this, a morning spent diving with the formidable Great White followed by a late afternoon of pure fun cycling over the dunes chasing a magnificent sunset . Truly one of the best days we have ever had on vacation. Thanks again Dave - you are a star !
Andrew S — Google review
Nice staff, well organized, safe but did not meet expectations at all. Cold water, choppy conditions, overbooking (17 divers for a tank of 8 squeezed like sardines) 10-15 min in the water (which was difficult as is) and the great white sitings have been excessively rare unfortunately. We saw one within 3 minutes of arriving to the point with no one in the cage. The rest of dive was uneventful except a small bronze whaler. I recognize that the animals are wild and nothing is guaranteed but I believe this tour isn’t as great as it once was. The most fish we saw was the smelly chum at the back of the boat.
Matthew G — Google review
Unfortunately our booking was cancelled due to weather but I do not like the fact that they charge the full deposit in advance and then charge a admin fee when they return that deposit. Not to mention it was a complete hassle to get your deposit back! I had to contact the representative multiple times for updates. White shark Africa charges only after the tour is done so I would have to recommend them if your interested in the tours.
Michael ( — Google review

Very cool experience. The boat rise itself is very fun and seeing sharks up close is very impressive. The expert staff knows what they're doing. They use chum to lure the sharks. In our case it were just copper sharks. The captain knows a lot about the sharks and is very informative.

AVOID BUYING ONLINE OR VIA TELEPHONE - While visiting South Africa last year, I ordered the book ‘Lost Johannesburg’ by Arnold Benjamin directly from the proprietor, Benadé Kruger, on 12 December. - I specifically asked him whether it would be possible to deliver the book to Pretoria before 4 January, when I was scheduled to depart abroad again, whereupon he assured me that shipment would take approximately two working days. He actually suggested that I make direct payment rather than order via the website to expedite the process. - Six days later I had not received any bank details to make payment, and I contacted Benadé again. He told me that he had forgotten to send payment details (and also my name). Later the afternoon I received then banking details, made payment immediately, and confirmed payment. - On the 20th I followed up to obtain shipment details, and Benadé undertook to send same the next day. - And then complete silence. - I tried again to call Benadé numerous times from 28 December, but he simply did not answer his phone and did not reply to any of the messages sent. - By 2 January I sent him an email asking him for a refund, which happened on 4 January, the day of my departure, and also without a word. - A truly strange experience. Benadé could have saved me all the expectation and trouble by just telling me to sod off and that he had no intention of selling the book. - The physical store seems to be great judging by the reviews, but I would suggest to avoid trying to buy online or via telephone. It is a supremely ungratifying experience.
