Bajada de Baños is a charming walkway located near the Bridge of Sighs, offering a delightful stroll towards the sea. The area is dotted with restaurants and a hostel, making it convenient for visitors to grab a bite or find accommodation. One of the highlights of this walk is the opportunity to admire a small hermitage undergoing restoration. While its exterior has been refurbished, efforts are still needed to restore its roof and interior.

Art Museums
Museo Pedro de Osma is a century-old mansion in Peru that offers guided tours of colonial Peruvian artworks, gardens, and grounds. It is part of a trio of art museums in Lima, along with MATE/Museo de Mario Testino and Museo de Arte Contemporaneo Lima. Visitors can purchase a discounted ticket to all three museums and explore them at a leisurely pace. The museum provides insight into Inka vs. Colonial history through its vivid art collection.
Lovely museum to step out of the hustle and bustle of Lima and return to a time when Peru was simpler and quieter. The house and grounds are magnificent and the wonderful colonial art adds to the refined atmosphere of this museum.
John M — Google review
Go for the architecture and the layout of the gardens, both of which are stunning. The art is an interminable display of yet more Christian allegory, heavy on the “constipated figurative” school, none of which is especially interesting if you’ve been to a single church at any point in your life.
Mohsin S — Google review
Amazing story of powerful family and their home with amazing art history. No photos allowed from inside, you must come see!
Thomas B — Google review
A nice museum if you appreciate architecture and garden design, but beyond that, I didn’t find it very engaging for the price.
André M — Google review
A must see museum, composed of several buildings of religious and secular art, costumes, coins and daily items from the Spanish era. The grounds are also gorgeous and manicured for every detail. Do not miss this gem.
John K — Google review
Brilliant religious iconography display. Well curated and displayed in a beautiful setting. Historical information about the generational ownership of the house and grounds.
Niffty J — Google review
Nice little hidden gem of a museum in the Barranco district. It is small, but has a nice collection of Peruvian art from before and after the conquest. The house and grounds are beautiful and well maintained as well.

The Bridge of Sighs, also known as Puente de los Suspiros, is an iconic wooden bridge in Barranco. It offers stunning views of the city and is a popular spot for people-watching. According to local folklore, crossing the bridge while holding your breath and making a wish may make it come true. Built in 1876, the bridge has endured significant damage during historical events but has been rebuilt multiple times.
This is a beautiful tourist attraction in Barranco, Lima, Peru. Don't believe the legend that if you hold the hand of the one you love and cross the bridge while holding your breath, if you make it to the other side you will be together forever... total and utter lie 🤣🤣 Other than that there is a beautiful spot, art, food, and more to see and or eat. It also leads down to the beach.
Me L — Google review
This is a must-see spot when walking around Barranco. The bridge itself is interesting, and the park is well-shaded and well-maintained. This is a hub for the Lima art scene, featuring not only street art but also several galleries. There are also decent restaurants in the area.
Keith M — Google review
It’s nice area but unfortunately not as nice as I expected. Church is not lighted and that’s a pity. Would make pictures much more beautiful. Murals are nice.
Frank L — Google review
At the Bridge of Sighs, we lucked out-the garúa had faded, leaving us with clear blue skies and a warm breeze. According to legend, if you hold your breath while walking across the bridge, your wish will be granted; and if you cross it with your lover, you are said to be blessed with eternal love. The surrounding area is delightful, with a cute park, vibrant murals, and intriguing street art that make it a perfect spot to wander and explore. Lovely area to walk around and explore or take your pup out to enjoy.
Desiree M — Google review
This bridge itself is pretty standard - about 40 feet long with no major views to speak of. But that's not what makes it special. The real treasure is the shops surrounding it, filled with unique art designs, cool jackets, t-shirts, and bags. It's evolved beyond just a marketplace - it's now a hub for creative expression. While the restaurants nearby are okay, they're not the main draw. The real highlight is the eclectic mix of art and shopping that makes this area worth exploring.
SPICY — Google review
Great lil artsy area and the vendors there are nice and not pushy. Would have loved to visited in the evening when the bars were open as I think there’s music then.

A beautiful part of Lima with a Bohemian style and feel. A popular tourist destination and some beautiful parks nearby.

Museums
Located in the Barranco neighborhood of Lima, the Lima Museum of Contemporary Art (MAC) offers a modern space showcasing art from the 1950s to present. The museum features rotating exhibitions, ensuring visitors always have something new to see. In addition to its permanent collection, MAC also hosts temporary exhibitions featuring Latin American and European artists.
Great museum collection! The space includes both permanent and temporary displays. Really enjoyed walking through the galleries and admiring the contemporary art. Worth visiting when in the area.
Alan Y — Google review
It looks a well intentioned museum to highlight works of Peruvian artists. The building has large, very spacious exhibition rooms well lit from the natural light. HOWEVER, collection/exhibition is very limited and has so narrow breath. 🫤 There’s complete lack of sculptures and/or 3D pieces. * There MUST be a number of contemporary sculptors in Lima or nationwide, whose art are worth chasing after for exhibition here. 🫤 A lot of photographic exhibits are more of random shots of political events, lacking an artistic rendition of such events. * The photos are VERY FLAT IMAGES rather than expressive imagery that would convey why the photographer was attracted by that instant in time. * Many of the shots seem very elementary/rudimentary, lacking depths of focus. *The photos FAIL TO EVOKE EMOTION, as such they seem misplaced for this museum. 🫤 Similarly, exhibitions of framed newspaper articles from the recent past are mere collages, like a hobbyist’s scrapbook. They FAIL TO CONVEY AN AESTHETIC rationale why they were put together. 😎 There’s a few of the paintings, especially the abstracts, that are worth the time for visual and intellectual feast.
A ( — Google review
While the ongoing exhibit on Inca photographs by a local artist was good, the permanent collection was just housed in a big hall. Very little explanations. Overall a rather disappointing lay out and art works that were neither inspiring or interesting.
Jules D — Google review
Very nice and modern museum in Barranco. The place is quiet, surrounded by trees, and perfect to relax and enjoy art. The exhibitions are interesting, with local and international artists. The building is beautiful, and there’s a nice café outside (Beso Francés) to have a coffee and crepe after your visit.
Adrian H — Google review
Fun contemporary museum with a cute park around the outside. They were between exhibitions so there wasn't a lot to see within the galleries, but the one show that was up was fun to explore. Recommend a trip to see what's happening in the Peruvian contemporary art space 🧡
Lindsey D — Google review
Great contemporary art museum with a good collection of Peruvian art. Special exhibitions as well. Highly recommended.
Gordon W — Google review
Small with 3 rooms, you can easily walk the museum in an hour. Very cool exhibits and worth a stop.
Aimee L — Google review
The museum was small but there was a lot of intention behind the set up. For 20 soles, it was worth it. I loved learning about modern art in Peru. It's very photograph heavy, but there were also very unique pieces that spoke to Peru and its history. When we went, Javier Silva Meingel's work was being showcased, and I thought his journey of photography was wonderful.

Iglesia La Ermita in Barranco is a historic church dating back to the 19th century, featuring rustic adobe and thatch construction. Situated at the end of the Bridge of Sighs, it stands as an iconic landmark in the area. Despite its now-crumbling roof and unusable state due to lack of restoration, it holds great significance as the first cathedral in Barranco, built in 1750.
It’s designated as a World Monument in 2016 😎😎😎 despite its current state of disrepair, brought about by a devastating earthquake in 1940. The WM designation is a tribute to its historical and local folklore significance to the origin of Lima’s Barranco Borough as a fishing village. Originally built in the 1870s, the neo-Gothic building of the Hermitage apparently underwent several reconstructions from destructions due to the War of the Pacific in the 1880s followed by natural disasters culminating in the 1940 earthquake. It has closed to the public since 1960. Emergency repairs have been going on since then. As it stands since its WM designation, the roof is in very bad shape. IRONICALLY, the roof especially the “barebones” of the belfry looks so eerily pleasing 😎😎😎 as though it’s the ruins of a medieval castle. It looks the home or favorite sunning spot of a flock of huge vultures (gallinazos). —- IF EVER reconstruction re-starts perhaps the architects might just reinforce the belfry and, for aesthetics or artistic reimagination, leave the open skeleton-like structure of it??
A ( — Google review
Plenty of vultures nesting in here. There have been some recent renovation efforts since late 2024 and it seems it will recover some of its former glory.
Bruno A — Google review
Closed since the 1974 earthquake that caused the roof to collapse, the Ermita de Barranco church still displays a nice facade (which gets regularly repainted every few years and is well kept) but is a bit of an eerie sight from the sight as it lays in ruins. It obviously no longer functions as a church, but rather serves as a reminder of the power of natural disasters and nature in general, as it is now a nesting place for so many birds.
Niccolo' B — Google review
Lots of birds on the crumbling roof creating an eerie, desolate feeling. Love!
Keira C — Google review
Great place to visit and walk around at dusk, close to the water to see the sunset. Great photo opts all around the church. Very interesting neighborhood with great looking restaurants and boutique hotels. We needed to spend more time in this area.
Susan P — Google review
Could be nice if they renovated it.
Dennis L — Google review
History of the Father without a Head. The story tells that in XIX, the church was occupied by a priest of bad tendencies, bad character and a visibly disordered life, generating antipathy in the parishioners. A strong earthquake ocurred in Lima that caused one of the domes to collapse and the steel bell to fall on the priest s head, crushing it and leaving only a blood stain and bones scattered in the area. As in life he was evil, they say that God imposed on him as a punishment to wander forever without his head. They say the neighbors of the place that continues to suffer and they see him at night walking whith his habit but without a head.

Restaurant
Ayahuasca, located in the exclusive Barranco neighborhood, is a gastrobar housed in the impressive Berninzon mansion. The bar offers classic pisco sours with a twist, such as using passion fruit or Andean fruits like aguaymanto and tumbo. The establishment also serves refreshing Chilcano cocktails and their famous Tunche made with pisco, strawberries, and passion fruit pulp.
A lovely spot, the place itself is huge. You can tell that it's more of a bar/late night drink venue, but we went for lunch and the food was delicious. A wide range of drinks also! Our waiter Renato gave us some reccommendations and was lovely with us!
Giulia S — Google review
Before dinner tonight, let's have a drink before we wait for dinner (😂) at Ayahuasca Restobar. This shop also has a cocktail called Ayahuasca Sour. I asked if it was made from Ayahuasca and she said no, it's just the name. 😂😂😅 Okay, but I didn't order that cocktail anyway. But the other glasses were all good. Local ingredients, local liquors as usual. The shop is very beautiful.
Bow T — Google review
I'm absolutely OBSESSED with this place! I stopped by for lunch, but I can only imagine how magical dinner must be. This restaurant/bar consistently exceeds my expectations - they're one of those rare gems that never disappoint. Their handcrafted cocktails are truly some of the best in Barranco! The food? Absolutely divine. I devoured the octopus with sautéed vegetables, and the chicken nuggets were a surprising highlight. But what really sets this place apart is its unique atmosphere. From the moment I stepped inside, I fell in love with the exterior and interior design of the building. And then there's the courtyard... it's like a little slice of heaven. The combination of high tables, outdoor seating, and cozy heated lamps creates the perfect ambiance, even on chilly days. I can only imagine how breathtaking it must look at night. If you're looking for a truly special experience in Barranco, look no further. This place will capture your heart!

Peruvian restaurant
Fine dining restaurant
Research foundation
Central, located in Miraflores Lima, is a renowned restaurant owned by chef Virgilio Martinez. It stands out for its unique approach to haute cuisine, focusing on Peruvian biodiversity and using ingredients from different altitudes and regions of the country. The restaurant has been consistently ranked among the top 50 restaurants globally and was awarded first place in 2023 for its innovative culinary concepts. Central also prioritizes sustainability and conscious use of natural resources.
Let's start out by saying this was a dining experience that I will remember for the rest of my life. The food was interesting, and sometimes over the top, but I understood what they were trying to do. Central is experimenting with ingredients, and they're trying to use every piece of every food available. This is to be admired. I have to be frank. Some dishes were excellent and others were just weird, but the overall experience was memorable, especially the service. They have been ranked 'the best restaurant in the world' a few years ago, and some would think this 'allows' them to have an attitude. This is precisely the opposite of what I experienced. From the moment I walked through the entrance, I felt very welcome, even though I was a solo diner. From the tour of the garden to the presentation of my table, to the stories behind every course (including the local drinks/wines), every moment of my dining experience was fantastic. The team even allowed me to take some photos of the kitchen. I felt like a VIP, even though I am sure I was just an average guest. So the food. Some dishes were among the best I have ever had, while others just didn't work for me. But over 13 courses and maybe 30-35 individual dishes, this was to be expected. This is not a cheap experience, but if you can afford it, you will not regret dining here.
Keith M — Google review
Same as Maido, I left rather dissapointed food-wise. There was nothing wrong about it, but at the same time, there was nothing special about it. The experience on the other hand, was quite unique. Also a beautiful garden! One more issue I had was that the tip is not included, which I would honestly expect given the already very high price.
Michal J — Google review
The Best Dining Experience in the World Central is, without a doubt, the number one restaurant on the planet. The entire experience—from the storytelling behind each dish to the flawless execution—is unforgettable. Virgilio Martínez, the visionary chef and owner, is one of the most creative talents in the culinary world today. His ability to take you on a journey through Peru’s ecosystems, altitudes, and ingredients is nothing short of genius. Every course is a revelation. The tasting menu is a beautifully choreographed journey through Peru’s diverse landscapes—from the Amazon to the Andes to the Pacific. Dishes like “Extreme Altitude” and “Amazonian Water” are not only exquisite in flavor, but also rooted in deep cultural and ecological meaning. The presentation is stunning, and each plate tells a story. The service and coordination were absolutely perfect, making the entire experience seamless. The liquor pairing (maridaje) was outstanding—thoughtfully curated to elevate each dish. Dining at Central is not just a meal—it’s a profound, inspiring experience. Truly the best I’ve ever had. Make a reservation—you’ll remember it for the rest of your life
Jose S — Google review
This is a fabulous experience. They are so meticulous with every detail. It was wonderful to watch the bustle of the open kitchen, like a show. All the dinner ware and serving plates/dishes were so delicate and beautiful. And I love their theme of sourcing food from all altitudes in Peru. Most of the ingredients I have never heard of or tried before, so it was really intriguing. The service and atmosphere was definitely fit for a number one restaurant of the world. But I personally feel the food fell a little short. There’s prob a reason why every part of different animal and plants are not eaten, because it doesn’t taste great. But Central wanted to incorporate all parts into the meal. In the end it has the taste great and a few dishes did fall short. We also had a server who did not speak English very well and I couldn’t understand her explain the dish.
Jing Y — Google review
And finally Central. The flagship restaurant of legendary Peruvian Chef Virgilio Martínez. The restaurant is known for its contemporary interpretation of Peruvian cuisine using modern techniques. Each dish represents a specific Peruvian ecosystem, defined by altitude, ranging from below sea level to the high Andes. Central was crowned the world’s best restaurant for many years. The tasting menu typically features 12 courses. The dishes were “academic”; beautifully crafted but not always memorable in flavour cohesiveness. The experience is experimental with lot of effort in carving visually appealing dishes but the final outcome is confusing. One leaves without understanding what food did he have. The dining room is bright, minimalist, and open, with stone tables, floor-to-ceiling windows, and an open kitchen
Habib M — Google review
“Dining at Central is not just a meal, it’s a journey through Peru’s ecosystems. From the moment we entered, the experience felt like visiting a living museum: the garden and entrance are filled with plants, trees, and ingredients that later appear on the menu. We were welcomed with warm towels, seated at a beautiful table designed with privacy in mind, and immediately noticed how attentive the service was. Every course came with its own unique cutlery and a small theatrical demonstration – sometimes a book with QR codes explaining the plants, sometimes an entire octopus or stones representing the Andean landscape. Even small gestures, like discreetly wiping drops of water on the table or changing napkins when leaving the table or before desserts, showed remarkable attention to detail. The 12-course tasting menu was extraordinary. Each dish represents a different altitude of Peru, from the depths of the sea to the highest Andes. Highlights included the Warm Sea Current with lobster and razor clam, Rainforest Connection with Amazonian fish, and the spectacular desserts inspired by the Sacred Valley and 100% cacao. Every plate felt like a masterpiece, both in taste and presentation. Service, storytelling, and culinary creativity are perfectly intertwined at Central. It’s educational, emotional, and delicious at the same time – an unforgettable dining experience and truly deserving of being named the best restaurant in the world.”
Emre 4 — Google review
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “Our experience at Central was simply flawless. The menu takes you on a journey through Peru’s ecosystems, from sea level to the mountain peaks. Each dish is not only about taste but also about storytelling; no flavor overwhelms the other, everything flows in perfect harmony. The garden welcome and the map we were given made us realize from the very beginning that this would be more than just a meal – it would be a geographical experience. The book that accompanies the courses was incredible; each page reveals a different side of Peru and completes the meaning of the dish. From the Rainforest to the Extreme Altitude, from the Savanna to the 100% Cacao, every stage impressed us with both its ingredients and its message. The cacao finale was a powerful closing, like a gift from Peru to the world. Central is a place that allows you to see the world through Peru’s eyes. The philosophy of the kitchen, the rhythm of service, the storytelling, and the balance of flavors are truly extraordinary. A journey that anyone interested in gastronomy should absolutely experience in Lima.”

** I am rating and saying opinions of what I would expect paying thousands of US dollars for a dinner** This place is overrated. Servers appeared to not want to work and the timing of bringing and taking away dishes was off. Mocktail pairing there were two repeated drinks and they were all fermented drinks and almost all tasted the same. Just sour. Couldn’t differentiate between the drinks towards the end. The courses started off strong with the first 4. But soon it went downhill for us. Dishes had a lot of foam elements. And the overall taste of everything was salty and couldn’t distinguish the different foods. It’s hard not to compare to other places that cost the same price. Service and food are NOT up to par. We paid 2,087.69 $ for three people. It cost us less to eat at a 2 Michelin star place with an extra person with us. Where the food and service was worth the price.

Dédalo is a chic store located in Barranco, Lima, offering a wide range of contemporary Peruvian crafts, home decor, clothing, jewelry, and art. The district has become a hub for art and culture with the addition of new galleries like MATE and Museo de Arte Contemporaneo de Lima (MAC).
The best shopping in Lima for unique handmade items. I could have spent two hours there. Lots of little rooms filled with the beautifully curated works of different local artists. Nothing touristy, just beautiful one of a kind artwork, textiles and jewelry by emerging Peruvian artists. Also there is a beautiful cafe in the courtyard. A must visit!
Jenny B — Google review
It’s such a cute store but prices are pretty bougie too! Great cafe at the back. Worth seeing but if you’re getting souvenirs I’d say this may not be the place. But for one off limited edition items, it is!
Nu — Google review
One of the best gift shops I’ve ever been to: a great place to pick up unique upmarket goods by Peruvian designers and craftspeople. A must for discerning shoppers! I absolutely loved my visit here and ended up getting some unique jewelry. You can easily spend multiple hours looking at all the rooms, so plan accordingly if you love to shop/browse. The shop includes homewares, clothing, a jewelry room, stationary, toys and kids items, a small selection of foods, and even a courtyard cafe with bonsai trees for sale. Service is second to none. Associates will take your selections to the cashier while you continue to shop. Beautiful gift wrap is included with all purchases on request. Some reviews have mentioned that perhaps some of the craft items are cheaper elsewhere. That may be the case, but there are a lot of brands I didn’t see elsewhere and everything is of the highest quality and carefully curated. Don’t miss this store to check off your gift list for the year!

Amazing place to visit and browse through their different rooms. Fabulous art, handcrafts and alpaca-wool clothing & a beautiful café in a leafy courtyard at the back that's hidden from the main street. It's like visiting a museum, for free, but you can buy some really nice souvenirs.

Customer service was amazing but triple check the expiry dates of chocolate bars. The kiosk is outdoors so perhaps not perfect storage conditions? The bar I bought was bloomed and had lost a lot of flavour/texture/was near the end of its shelf life unfortunately.

Municipal de Barranco Park, located in the upscale Barranco district of Lima, Peru, is a charming tree-lined park that offers a variety of attractions. The park features elegant statuary, paved paths for leisurely strolls, and a colonnaded stage where weekend events take place.
The heart of the Barranco neighborhood, this square is located a few steps from famous tourist attractions (like the Bridge of Sighs), but also offers a lot for residents, like a public library, a church and a nearby museum. It is well maintained, clean and it even has a public bathroom (that costs 1 Sole - 25 USD Cents) to use. It is a great starting point to explore the neighborhood and have a coffee or a drink or even a full meal in one of the many establishments surrounding the square.

Restaurante La Rosa Náutica is an elegant seafood restaurant located on a pier with stunning views of the ocean and city. It's known for serving a wide range of ceviche in various regional styles, as well as innovative combinations like tiradito poderoso with sea urchin and black scallops. The restaurant is popular among both locals and visitors, offering delicious and fresh seafood, chicken, and beef dishes.
La Rosa Náutica – An Unforgettable Dining Experience in Lima La Rosa Náutica is a true gem perched on the Pacific, offering not only world-class cuisine but also an atmosphere of elegance and refinement. From the moment you arrive, the setting is breathtaking — the crashing waves beneath the historic pier, the refined décor, and the panoramic ocean views create a romantic and timeless ambiance. The service is impeccable — professional, attentive, and discreet — reflecting the high standards of a truly top-tier establishment. The menu is a celebration of Peruvian gastronomy with a refined twist. Every dish we tried, from the fresh ceviche to the beautifully plated seafood main courses, was a testament to both culinary skill and the quality of ingredients. The wine list was equally impressive, featuring excellent local and international selections. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply seeking a memorable meal in Lima, La Rosa Náutica delivers on every level. It's classy, iconic, and thoroughly unforgettable.

The service and Atmosphere was outstanding. The cerveche was delicious and the shrimp appetizer was mid at best. My girlfriends amazonian river fish was good but far from being delicious. I was suggested the lamb which was supposedly one of there specialties , unfortunately it was over cooked for my likings. A little over priced if you ask me. If I remember correctly the menu said you would get 454 grams of lamb. I got half that at best. Nice experience but I would not go back again.
Gordon H — Google review
This is amazing place for the views. You have to come here for the very nice ocean panorama. Choose sunny day (you know, in some time of the year, it's very gray, I would avoid those days). The food was excellent. Overall, it might be a tad overpriced, but I would come again. The stuff was like a little kids (kicking each other for fun etc.), but otherwise they were okay-ish. I recommend to make a reservation, it is really needed. 5 out of 5.
Jakub K — Google review
Overrated place. The food is pretty average and not worth what they charge for it. It can be a good place for getting a drink with the view, but for diner, there are much better seafood options in Lima. Even the signature cocktails were super basic and felt underwhelming. Waiter received a hefty tip, and didn't even bother to say goodbye...turned his back on us when we left. What a terrible behavior, I do not recommend.
Guillaume M — Google review
High-quality restaurant. Great food and service, not disappointed at all. Perfect time for dinner (18:00) just when the sunset started. Great view and feeling of freedom and enjoyment for life. The service was impeccable since our arrival. Yes, it's a little pricy but worth every penny. I would come back in a heartbeat. I highly recommend it for a romantic dinner or business lunch.

Huaca Pucllana Site Museum is an ancient pre-Inca archaeological site situated in Miraflores, offering a captivating journey into Lima's pre-Columbian history. The clay and adobe pyramid complex provides valuable insights into the indigenous cultures that once thrived in the region. Guided tours are available to enhance the understanding of the site's historical significance, making it an educational destination for history enthusiasts, archaeology buffs, and families with older children.
2000+ years of history packed into the center of Miraflores. A must see when visiting Lima to acquire some of the history and respect for previous civilization. The adobe architecture is incredible as millions of bricks were assembled into the pyramid that took hundreds of years to assemble. Get to see some of the agriculture and animals of Peru - guinea pigs and alpacas. The museum offers some insight, but the real value is the guided tours that leave every 30 minutes and are offered in both English and Spanish. Cost of entry is S/ 15, about $4 (includes the tour)
Kristian P — Google review
The tour was excellent! It lasted about 40 minutes, and the guides were very knowledgeable. The ruins are in the middle of Miraflores, right next to a great restaurant with a beautiful view of the site. Just note that the night tour doesn’t allow you to go to the top of the ruins — that’s only possible during the day.

An incredible archaeological site in the heart of Miraflores! 🏛️ The 2,000-year-old adobe pyramid showcases the remarkable craftsmanship of ancient builders. The 40-minute guided tour (S/15, available in English or Spanish) is informative and engaging. Note: the night tour doesn’t include access to the top, but we took it and still loved the experience. A must-visit for history lovers in Lima!
Manjeet D — Google review
Fascinating study of the dedication of the ancients in building structures covering great areas with handmade vertical bricks. On some you can even see their hand and finger prints! Our guide shared a wide scope of knowledge from all of those who lived here, their customs, foods they planted and consumed, burial rites, beliefs, skills... He was a great guide to his heritage and this enormous site in the middle of the city. (Unfortunately, there is a listing for a "minizoo" here. While seeing the 7 famous llamas, alpacas and dozens+ guinea pigs was an interesting part of the tour...that does Not qualify the Very minimum pen and feeding bin as a "zoo." There is a genuine one elsewhere. The handful of indigenousanimals here are just to enlighten visitors as to the animals the original denizens had for food, like the well-planted garden.) This is a healthy, enlightening educational walk through an amazing ancient world. (PS- Please bring some currency to show your appreciation to your fascinating guide!!)
The V — Google review
Worth a visit but just bare in mind you must go round with a tour guide and once you've seen one part of the temple you've sort of seen it all. There were some interesting facts and it made for a good walk. There are some cute llamas or alpacas and guinea pigs 😊
Alex C — Google review
I want to say I loved it, listen - it's historical and the guide was good. Spoke very good English and the Llamas / Guinea pigs at the end are cute. It's interesting, and they're still excavating. The tour takes little under an hour.. tips for the guide are nice! They do a good job. You walk up some steepish parts, and it's sandy - so don't wear slides. ;) Worth a visit... And the restaurant overlooking the ruins is fab! But gets busy. There are other restaurants just outside too. (Not overlooking the ruins) If you're in Lima and like history.. go. I was just a little bit bored at times. 🙊

Huaca Pucllana: 4000-year-old pyramid, check. Boring guide who puts you to sleep, check. If you're gonna make me walk on ancient genius pyramid, at least make the tour entertaining. Suggestion: skip the guide and hit up the Larco Museum first. Learn more over there Trust me, you'll be way more impressed when you finally get to the real education. And honestly, just read the Wikipedia page, you'll learn more. Need tour guide and takes about one hour.

Definetely one of the best restaurants in Lima. The food is very very delicious, portions are not big not little either. A little pricey but totally worth it. Thr arroz con Pato was the best I ever tried and the tiramisu of Pistacho is to die for 😋. It was a nice experience... it is located in the center of San Isidro distric and hard to find since it doesnt has a name outside. We had bad luck with a silly waiter, but in overall the time we spent there was enjoyable and I cant wait to visit it again.

Restaurant
Located in the hipster neighborhood of Barranco in Lima, Mérito stands out as one of the best restaurants in the Peruvian capital. The chef, Juan Luis Martinez, skillfully blends his Venezuelan roots with Peruvian culinary traditions and other Latin American influences. The restaurant's menu reflects a diverse exploration of flavors using local ingredients and a strong aesthetic sense. Ranked No.
Merito was the clear stand out meal for us in Peru and it’s one of the most memorable meals I’ve ever had. Head chef Juan Luis Martinez is simply a genius with flavor and all his/ her dishes were incredibly creative, thoughtful and works of art! While everything we had was delicious the standout dishes for us were the apps and desserts, in particular, the - Yacon with whitefish - a delight for all the senses - Fish tartar - I had no idea a tartar could taste this good!! - Scallop ceviche - flavors were bright and refreshing - Flan - best flan I’ve had in my life (so good we had it again at Merito’s sister restaurant, Clon, a few days later) - Chocolate rock - decadent and delicious, one for the chocolate lovers! Would absolutely return if I’m ever in Lima again! And this meal inspired us to try both clon and demo cafe under the same restaurant family (both excellent as well). Easiest five stars ever and my favourite fine dining restaurant I’ve had to, to date.

The meal was exceptional and is one of the best I have ever had. Honestly tasting menus make me a little nervous because I wonder if the imagination of the chef is just too far outside my comfort zone. Despite my nerves, I brought an open mind to this experience. As I reviewed the menu, cornbread jumped off the page. As a person who grew up eating cornbread, I was SURE that I would be disappointed. I have been to many restaurants who try to put some flare on cornbread and they fail. Well, it was not like Jiffy or any cornbread I have made from scratch. It was more like a sweet bread and the onion butter was wonderful. I was getting full but still regret I did not eat my last slice. I could go on and rave about almost every dish but who wants to read all of that and I assume the menu changes so it is not even helpful. But I need to say the beef was fantastic. I do not eat much red meat and was set to be underwhelmed and it was amazing. And since my review seems to be all sunshine, I will be real and say there was one part I did not like and it was a gelatinous portion of a dessert. It is a texture I do not enjoy but it was such a small component of the meal that if you feel the same way this will not really impact your satisfaction. What can I say, it is just my palate. By the dessert courses, I was pretty full any way but I managed to eat all of the thin cookies which gave me another surprise ….I enjoyed the white chocolate one. I generally love dark chocolate, will eat milk chocolate but pass on desserts with a white chocolate base. I was wrong again. This was great. I wish I had photos of all the courses. They were a treat for the eyes not just the stomach. I would go back in heartbeat. This was my best of many great meals in Lima.

One of the best dinners I can remember. The flavors were out of this world. Several of the dishes I will dream about for quite a while. The ambiance, the music, the staff. Five stars across the board! Really glad we read all the reviews and chose this as our last meal in Lima. Do not miss!

We ordered 5+1 things between two people and felt that it was enough food. Okay: popeye crab, white fish with cocona / Good: Scallops with sanki and jalapeño, Fish curry / Amazing: Lamb and tuber (tender and so succulent), Flan (soooo creamy with a slight burnt caramel taste on the sauce, the lightly bitter taste compliments the taste and texture of the custard very well). We also got the Chirimoya cocktail - taste was good, but also quite basic. I gave it 4 stars because only 1/5 dishes were really, really good in our opinion. Service from Cesmar was 💯, she was very attentive and thorough in her explanation of the dishes. We found the price affordable for this level of dining experience. For reference, our meal came to around 260 PEN per person. I recommend booking in advance, but if you didn't, it's worth walking in to check if they have any availability for that day/the next couple of days (this is what we did). Happy dining! 🥳

We had a fantastic experience with impeccable service and novel, exciting flavors as part of the tasting menu. We were continually blown away as each dish was brought out (I included a few fun pictures of some of my favorites). So many delicious tastes and exciting textures. We definitely had a few favorites but the entire menu was a delight. We felt the price was well worth it and the servers were very attendant throughout the night. The sommelier was also lovely and helped us select a bottle of sparkling wine from Argentina for the evening.

Unforgettable dining experience to round up a visit to Peru The concept of the menu overall, pairing of ingredients and textures are sophisticated and unique. Peru is known for its fantastic cuisine but Merito is just next level. The staff is exceptionally attentive and knowledgeable. We got interesting explanations about the dishes we were trying and the origins of ingredients. My biggest recommendation in Lima!

Very modern and innovative menu with ingredients all sourced from Peru. The service was top notch as you'd expect with a restaurant of this caliber. Most of the dishes were very well balanced between flavors and textures. Would recommend to anyone visiting Lima and looking for a fine dining experience.

Family restaurant
Restaurant
Located in the heart of Lima, La Romantica is a family restaurant that offers a variety of dishes from classic Italian cuisine to some dishes from Swiss and French cuisine. The menu offers pasta, lasagnas, pizzas, cheese fondue, and its Swiss meat specialty Emince veal with rostil or its scallops. Hand-in-hand requests and exchange of rings are common at La Romantica under candlelight and warm indirect lighting.
Nice food, good service, live piano player, some plates are well priced.

The food, service, and ambiance are excellent. I went with my wife(on her birthday) and we enjoyed everything. However, I would offer one suggestion: serve butter(for the tasty bread) in a small cup( ramekin). Fine dining restaurants don't serve butter in their packages like you get on an airplane. Otherwise, it was an overall great dining experience.

This place was amazing !! We had a couple of drinks while we waited for our table. The drinks were great! , the host was perfect. She explained the menu, told us what were favorites. We think the prices are perfect for the food, but maybe on the inexpensive side when you add in the pretty awesome service. Thanks again for the awesome experience and the family vibe !

This contemporary hotel features two exquisite restaurants and ten versatile meeting spaces, making it perfect for both leisure and business travelers. Guests can unwind at the spa or take a refreshing dip in the pool after an invigorating workout at the gym.
I’ve stayed here both pre and post-renovations and both times it was spectacular, but the new room design really makes the stay. Bath tub is to die for. Staff were extremely friendly and accommodating of a late check out. The breakfast buffet was reasonably priced and prolifically delicious.

This has to be one of the nicest hotels I’ve stayed in… The luxury accommodations here at the JW Lima, include the many hotel restaurants, the bar, the gym, and most importantly the staff are second to none. They will accommodate you anyway possible. I have been here for two weeks, and yet to find an issue. 5 Star for sure…

Great hotel less than 2 years after renovations stayed on the 7th floor. Staff was educated and respectful. The gym was not that good but it will do. Outdoors pool closed for unknown reasons,

Lovely modern hotel, very spacious and clean. Service was not great (breakfast and checkout experience) and most staff are quite unapproachable/cold, but on the other hand, this is not like the southern part of Peru where people are much more welcoming. Would probably look at staying at the airport next time and skipping Lima altogether.
Purdy B — Google review
We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights, and I would not recommend it for families with children. It feels more suited for business travelers who only need a place to sleep. The rooms are very dark, which makes it difficult to read or spend any time inside apart from resting. Closet space is also very limited, so it’s not convenient if you’re staying more than a night or two. Overall, not the best choice for a family trip.

The Westin Lima Hotel & Convention Center is a luxurious escape in the heart of San Isidro, close to the financial district. The hotel offers high-end rooms and suites with stylish interiors and interesting artwork throughout the property. Guests can enjoy an extensive range of amenities including a Heavenly Spa, sauna, steam room, indoor pool, and modern fitness area. Dining options are outstanding, from casual to gourmet Peruvian cuisine at Maras.
One of My Favorite Hotels in the World Having traveled to over 70 countries, I’ve experienced some of the world’s top hotels—and The Westin Lima Hotel & Convention Center ranks among my absolute favorites. From the moment I arrived, I was struck by the hotel’s stunning, modern architecture and pristine condition. The location in San Isidro is ideal—close to everything yet peaceful and secure. The rooms are spacious, immaculately clean, and offer breathtaking views of the city skyline. I was especially grateful for the room upgrade, which made an already wonderful stay even more memorable. What truly sets this hotel apart is the exceptional service. The concierge team, especially José, went above and beyond to assist with local arrangements and thoughtful recommendations. The front desk staff were warm, attentive, and incredibly professional. Every team member I encountered—from bell staff to housekeeping—was genuinely kind, helpful, and made me feel welcome. This is a five-star experience through and through. It’s clear that the hotel is managed with care and a strong commitment to guest satisfaction. My only note is that the spa experience felt distinctly different from the hotel’s impeccable standard—perhaps because it is privately operated. Thank you, Westin Lima, for an outstanding stay. I can’t wait to return—and next time, I’ll be bringing my wife with me. Bonvoy Member | Global Traveler

Terrible Experience – Do Not Stay Here This was by far the worst place I’ve ever stayed. The room was filthy, with roaches crawling around, and it clearly hadn’t been cleaned properly. To make matters worse, the neighborhood was extremely loud, with music blasting late into the night. I called the front desk three times to complain and was completely ignored. Absolutely unacceptable. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else.

Ideal choice in Lima for work trips or longer stays. Spacious rooms with great views, very comfortable beds, and top service throughout the hotel. The executive lounge and gym stand out, not to mention the spa, and the location is convenient for both business and leisure. A reliable, high-standard hotel experience in the city. I will come back for sure!

I am writing this review to share my thoughts during my stay at the Westin Hotel. It was a beautiful experience. Nothing less from a 5 star hotel and best hotel if you ask me in Peru. The staff was friendly, they were bilingual in English and Spanish. The rates were competitive. The pool was amazing. Gym had lots of equipment. Breakfast was American Style, eggs, bacon, sausage, waffles, lots of fruits, breads and more. Though it comes at an $80 dollar price. Well worth it in my honest opinion. Parking included. It is a must if driving a car in Lima. Everything needed is handed to you if requested at the front desk, is person or by phone. I would have enjoyed more activities but my time was limited. There was heat and AC in the room. Wonderful views of San Isidro. Lots of store nearby, gas stations, restaurants and even a clinic if you were to need medical attention. I will stay again. Loved it!

The food was pretty good. I tried anticucho for the first time and then later had ceviche. I probably wouldn't eat here again because I didn't feel it was that great. Personally I did not enjoy the service here, I found the staff to be rather inattentive and somewhat rude. The atmosphere is probably nicer during the way when you can see the vibrant trees and ocean off in the distant, but I came at night so it wasn't as nice as I'd hope.

Waited 2 hours and our food never came, after asking what was happening they managed to get 2/5 plates on the table but the food wasn’t very good anyway (maybe because they threw it together quickly). This is probably the only 4 and under rating I’ve ever given, they didn’t seem to care when we brought our concerns to their attention so I wanted to make sure I posted this. DO NOT EAT HERE. My family and I ordered and waited two hours for our food. After two hours, they still only brought half of our food. It serves basic American food that you can get anywhere, like salad and hamburgers. I was hoping for Peruvian food, but we only ate here because it was convenient. The stash apologized but did not make things right by refunding our money, so we paid for half of the meals our table received and left.

It was an horrible experience. The food was disgusting without flavor at all. I ordered anticuchos and jalea mixta. Visitors praise the great selection of fruits and vegetables and appreciate the helpfulness of the sellers in choosing tropical fruits.
Great selection of Fruits and vegetables! Lovely people. Very helpful when you are not sure what fruit to choose (as there are many tropical fruits that one never heard of) The price is also good.

Absolutely stellar stay at Villa Barranco. The property and rooms are gorgeous. Our initial rooms were fantastic, then we were treated to room upgrades which were more stunning. For breakfast each morning we had the most delicious eggs and pancakes. The property itself is wonderful but the team at Villa Barranco were the most kind, knowledgeable, accommodating. Issac, Raphael, Sarah, Julio, Daniel, Frank and everyone else on the team made our trip so fabulous! Absolutely recommend at stay at Villa Barranco! We will be here for our next visit to Lima!

The Villa Barranco is a lovely hotel. The room was large, and there was charming gardens and outdoor space. The villa is conveniently located to the restaurants and shopping in Barranco. The owner Patricio was friendly and very helpful making suggestions for Lima, as well as Cusco. He suggested a perfect one-day itinerary in the Sacred Valley, and helped to make a lunch reservation at a hacienda. I would highly recommend staying at this hotel.

Absolutely loved this boutique hotel set in a charming colonial mansion. The staff were incredibly attentive, and the lovely rooftop terrace was perfect for evening cocktails. Though we had a minor issue with the AC on the first night, it was quickly resolved. Highly recommend staying here while visiting Lima. Barranco is a fantastic area with its artsy vibe, smaller buildings, old mansions, and lush greenery. It’s great for walking, enjoying beach views, and exploring bars and restaurants.

We felt like family + royalty staying at the Villa Barranco. The staff was unfailingly friendly and helpful and the spaces were artful, comfortable, and clean. The Barranco neighborhood is hip with numerous options nearby for a variety of interests ranging from nightclubs to museums to coffee shops and artisan wares. We will stay here again.

Lovely experience! The entire hotel has a cool vibe mixing colonial architecture bones with both contemporary and vintage art. The staff was attentive and friendly. We enjoyed one rooftop for delicious breakfasts and the other rooftop for pisco sours. The room was spacious and comfy. The location was perfect for wandering to cozy coffee shops and lively restaurants.

Amazing stay at the villa, the rooms are so pretty, the staff very professional and helpful, the breakfast is delicious (homemade cakes, fresh fruits, fresh juices, eggs, waffles, pancakes...) and changes everyday. Issac in charge of the breakfast and the house, Frank the concierge are such lovely souls and always making sure you are not missing anything.

More than my expectations! Living in a historic 1920 home in the beautiful neighborhood of Barranco. It’s a walk away from the bridge of sighs and famous restaurants. Had the master suite. Huge room with upstairs private terrace with view of the Pacific Ocean. The bathroom was beautiful with a big bath tub in the middle of the room. Breakfast served daily and it was a very good selection of fresh native fruits, 3 choices of freshly squeezed fruit juice, fresh home made bread and a menu service. Coffee is available any time. Fresh water daily in the room. Fresh towels daily. I highly recommend Villa Barranco. Truly beautiful and amazing service!!!

Embark on a culinary journey in Lima with Peruvian cooking classes, an essential experience for food enthusiasts. Learn to make ceviche and other traditional dishes during a 5-course cooking class that includes a market tour. Gain insights into the origins of Peruvian cuisine and explore the local lifestyle while discovering various fruits and vegetables at the market. Chef Hector provides valuable knowledge, from selecting fresh fish at the port to teaching intricate cooking techniques at his restaurant in San Bartolo.
What an amazing class! After reading the exceptional reviews, our expectations were high, however, Chef Hector did not disappoint! We started off at the market where Hector showed us around and shared with us a brief history of the origins of Peruvian cuisine. Then we went a few blocks down the road to the rooftop where the class was due to take place. The class was very well run and the food was amazing. The whole experience lasted around 5 hours and, whilst this experience is on the more expensive side, it was well worth the money👨🏽‍🍳

Incredible cooking class and experience from start to finish. We loved visiting the market with Chef Ricardo and then cooking a seafood feast at his home - so many delicious dishes still thinking about them all!! It was the best cooking class we’ve ever done - can’t recommend enough. Thanks Chef Ricardo 🫶🏼 Adele & Matt from Australia :)

I took a last-minute cooking class with Hector and it was one of the best parts of my trip! He was kind enough to organize it on short notice, and the entire experience was amazing from start to finish. We started with a visit to a local market where I saw so many unique fruits and vegetables I’d never encountered before. Hector explained everything with such passion and knowledge — he’s truly an ambassador for Peruvian cuisine. The cooking session was hands-on and fun, with delicious, creative recipes. And the setting? A beautiful rooftop overlooking pre-Inca ruins — totally unexpected and unforgettable. Hector is incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and makes you feel like more than just a guest. Highly recommend this experience to anyone wanting an authentic taste of Peru!

I just can’t get enough! I did this class now 3rd time. First time like 8-9 years ago than other year after. Now after some 6 years I did it again. Whole experience is more professional and you also get nice interaction how did start Peruvian culinary heritage. Hector always made class interactive and interesting. I was lucky enough to to many different dishes every time I visited.

Amazing experience! My wife and I had a chance to take the class with Hector Aguillar (ex chef at Maido restaurant) and it was a great learning experience! Though I had had some cooking classes before, this was the one that I enjoyed and learned most! The full experience, with a visit to the market took about 5 hours well spent. They also provide all the instructions so you can replicate the dishes at home. Truly worth experience!

What a wonderful experience! Definitely book the cooking class in Lima here :-) cooking on a beautiful outdoor balcony kitchen, views on the Huaca and I do not need to get started on the dishes..Omg, the ceviche / causas and of course the pisco sours - wow! Thank you Hector

All the 5 star ratings are completely deserved. The ceviches I made in this class are worthy of being in a fine dining restaurant. They were among the best I had during my time in Peru! Super informative class and chef Ricardo and Hector are so welcoming - it feels like you're learning to cook with friends. I would definitely come back to try learning some other dishes!

(Translated by Google) I liked it a lot. There was fun with a variety of internal activities on the inflatables. What I believe is that, before buying the tickets, they should mention the price of the socks (S/7) so that the customer really considers purchasing them. And yes, gentlemen, it is necessary and mandatory to use them inside otherwise it is difficult to climb or jump at some points. Afterwards, everything else was great. (Original) Me gustó mucho. Hubo diversión con una diversidad de actividades internas en los inflables. Lo que creo es que, antes de comprar los boletas, deben mencionar el precio de las medias (S/7) para que el cliente realmente considere adquirirlas. (Translated by Google) The place is fun, but quite expensive. Per person it is 30 soles for half an hour or 50 for an hour, plus 7 soles to buy the special socks that they force you to wear and 1 sole if you want to store your things (and if you lose the key to the locker, you have to pay 40 soles). You also have to register before entering, providing all your information and even a photo of your face. (Original) Es divertido el lugar, pero bastante costoso. Her work was recognized by the Peruvian government as National Cultural Heritage and she was posthumously awarded Peru’s highest civilian honor, Order of the Sun (OSP).👏👏👏👏👏
