Tokumeien Garden, located in the Kanto region, is renowned for its undulating landscape despite being built on flat land. The earth excavated from Dokutsukannon cave was used to create this stunning and tranquil Japanese garden. Visitors can enjoy the vibrant fall colors and a mesmerizing water mist show while savoring delicious matcha at the tea house. The entrance fee also includes access to the 400m cave with various deities.
This park really takes top prize for the greatest display of autumn colors I’ve ever seen. The kaleidoscope of red, orange, yellow and various hues in between are absolutely stunning and mind boggling. The fee of 800 yen is really worth it, and the fee also covers entrance to the caves with lots of deities.
Cher K — Google review
Went here after the cave (because of the combi ticket) and I must say I was amazed I was the only one. The garden is very beautiful and I like how you can watch it from the house. Next time I'll bring my girlfriend here.
Thomas K — Google review
A stunning and tranquil Japanese garden. The entrance fee is a bit on the pricier side, but it includes the entrance into the 400 m cave. The garden itself looked amazing in fall colors (we visited in Mid-November) and there was even a water mist „show“ to make it look even more mystical. The matcha at the tea house was delicious, too.
Al A — Google review
One of the best places to see autumn leaves in gunma. They have a pond and a small hill in the garden. You can enjoy matcha surrounded with colourful leaves. Don’t forget to see kannon statues in a cave it’s very mystical.

Warabidaira Forest Park Camping Ground is a picturesque campsite located on a hill at an altitude of 1140m, offering a cool and comfortable environment. The site features various amenities including a fishing pond, small animals like goats, and the nearby Hamayu Sanso for day trips. Bungalow Yamasakura provides convenient accommodation with parking space for two cars, electricity, and kitchen facilities. Additionally, the availability of group sites makes it suitable for different types of camping experiences.
Beautiful place especially in Autumn. Underrated campsite☺️Staffs are very kind and they make sure that everyone is safe even at night❣️Facilities are clean and well maintained also. Definitely will come back again😊

(Translated by Google) Stayed in a bungalow. The facilities are old but well-maintained. There is power outlet, and for this price. There is no additional charge for bringing pets. However, there are a lot of bugs (especially horseflies), and there is only one window with a screen, so it can get a little hot even at night on the hottest days in recent years. I think it's a good idea to bring a fan. The kitchen and other areas get full of bugs at night, but they are kept clean and remained clean when used throughout our stay. There is one Western-style toilet and one Japanese-style toilet.

(Translated by Google) We stayed here over the Obon holidays. Both the bungalows and sites were almost full, and it seemed like there were a lot of people, but perhaps because the spaces between neighboring sites were spacious, it didn't feel crowded. ⭕️ It's a historic campground, so it's undeniably old, but its appeal lies in the low fees. It's at a high altitude, so it's cool and the views are spectacular on clear days. It was 35°C below ground, around 25°C at the campsite, and it dropped to 20°C at night, so we slept under our covers. It seemed like there weren't enough staff for the size of the campground. There were people washing their dogs in the kitchen and people not cleaning up after themselves, so I felt like they needed to increase patrols.

(Translated by Google) The beautiful forest park at an elevation of 1,126 meters is pristine and unspoiled, quiet and pleasant. Some wild animals can be seen in the park, and the starry sky at night is breathtaking and romantic. We visited in mid-July 2025, and the temperature dropped sharply in the middle of the night. Even in summer, it is recommended to bring a light down jacket and thin trousers to keep warm. We stayed in the most basic four-person cabin, with two large and one small plus three large luggages, and the space was just right. The cabin has a tatami floor, is clean and tidy, and is equipped with lighting, sockets and electricity. Although there is no other furniture, it is quite sufficient for daily use. For bathroom, there is a shower room in the management building, which is open from 4 pm to 6 pm. It is free on weekdays and ¥100/time on holidays. At the same time, the management building also provides free hair dryers, and coin-operated washing machines and dryers are available for use. The public toilets in the camp are also maintained very clean. It is worth reminding that the park retains its natural appearance, so there are many insects. Be sure to close the door quickly when entering and leaving the cabin at night to prevent insects from flying into the house. The administrator was very friendly and provided us, the tourists from Taiwan, with a lot of information and assistance, which made us feel warm and grateful. As the campsite is remote and some sections of the mountain road are narrow, driving at night is difficult. It is strongly recommended to prepare dinner and breakfast for the next day before entering the mountain to avoid going down the mountain to buy food after dark. We set out from Saitama that day and stopped by Costco in Maebashi to buy food. It was a good choice because it was good quality and cheap.

(Translated by Google) I used the stargazing site on the weekend after Obon. There were only two other groups there that day, including myself, so I had a very pleasant stay. I had heard that there were a lot of horseflies and midges, so I was prepared, but perhaps because it was a good time of year, there weren't that many. Just light lots of mosquito coils and you're good to go. I was able to see the stars at night, but I thought the lighting inside the site was a little too bright for stargazing. Considering safety, I suppose that can't be helped. Water, a garbage dump, and a charcoal dump were all located within the stargazing site, which was very convenient. If I have the chance, I'd like to try the fishing pond next time.

During festivals there are shuttles from the parking lots (which are down the mountain) up to the main area. The walk down the mountain has a bunch of cute and quirky stores (including one with a live owl). The statue can be climbed from the inside and costs ¥300 normally, sometimes ¥100 on festivals.

Takasaki Park, established in 1897, is a public space for leisure activities. The park boasts of several ponds and fountains and is also a popular destination for cherry blossom contemplation during the spring season.
The park and the way to the park is so beautiful with cherry blossom trees. This is a gem!
Hazame S — Google review
Nice park, some turtles, a snow monkey, peacocks, chickens and roosters, doves, big Karp in the pond. Lots of activities for kids including sandpit, playground, slides etc. The only way it could improve is the park is a little dry and missing a lot of grass. Worth visiting for a picnic or drink, sit back and relax.
Pat P — Google review
The park is big and lots of spaces but i was there in the hot summer. So may be in nice weather you will enjoy the sitting and relax by the nature. They have peacocks in cages and also turtles. The nets are so thick that watching them is also a real hard work through the nets 😂. The environment is calm and quiet. In the middle there is a pond ( Japanese style pond) with lots of fishes.
Sadia O — Google review
It’s really so nice place specially the bridge going downwards the river such a beautiful place
Mian A — Google review
This small park in Takasaki is popular for cherry blossom viewing. It looks more like a playground because there isn't any grass, and the wind could blow sand everywhere. There's also a little fountain which shoots water up every once in a while, as well as a bird cage. During cherry blossom times, there will be food stalls set up. Parking around the area is generally paid, and can get crowded during the spring. You may have to park quite far away from the park itself.
Gavin A — Google review
Nice during cherry blossom season, especially at night. Also has a small play area for kids, though it can get pretty dusty because there isn't much grass.

(Translated by Google) This park was built to commemorate the fact that Lake Haruna was the inspiration for the famous song "Lakeside Inn" sung by Takamine Mieko, which became a huge hit. Within the park there is a monument that plays the melody of Lakeside Inn when you stand in front of it. This is also the trailhead for Mount Haruna's highest peak, Sobegatake. For hikers, there are no toilets further ahead, so it is recommended that you use the park toilets here. The view of Lake Haruna from this park is also beautiful, so it is a great place to visit whether you are hiking or just stopping by. Cycling park
Gunma-no-mori is a park that features tree-lined cycling trails and playground equipment, situated alongside a river. The park also houses museums dedicated to the history of the city and art from the surrounding region. There are ample opportunities for visitors to enjoy nature, learn about local culture, and engage in physical activity. Additionally, shaded paths provide relief from the sun on hot days.
Nice park with playgrounds to gather with family and friends. There are 2 museums inside

Good place to stay. It is very spacious and have toilets /comfort rooms that is not only for Men and Women but it has also a dedicated room for those who bring their kids. I cannot say much about the parking but from what I've seen it is spacious. There are vending machines for those who want a hot and cold drinks. There are few tables and few chairs to sit in. A very refreshing place for those who wants to relax.

Beautiful park with plenty of grass to run in and trees to cool off under during the summer heat. Immediately adjacent to two great museums, one for art and one the covers the history of the Gunma prefecture.

Park
Hamagawa Athletic Park is a serene public garden featuring a picturesque lake, playgrounds, and lush greenery. Established in 1987 for the Akagi National Athletic Meet, it offers various sports facilities such as an archery range, outdoor and indoor pools, and training rooms. Families can enjoy picnics by the stream or take leisurely walks along the river towards Haruna.
Picnic areas, playground, a stream running through the middle, and lots of trees for coverage on a hot day. The park is well maintained and very pleasant to visit.

I recommend visiting the Takasaki City Dye Plant Botanical Garden when the weather is pleasant, allowing you to enjoy a leisurely stroll through the surrounding forest and gardens. This charming small town offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere with friendly locals. The museum showcases both traditional and raw indigo dye workshops, providing a deeper understanding of the intricate craft and the labor involved. Although the exhibition space may be small, it always presents an engaging narrative that connects dyeing within its historical context.
I recommend going when the weather is pleasant so you can take a walk through forest and gardens surrounding the museum. I've participated in both traditional and raw indigo dye workshops. The traditional indigo workshop gives you an appreciation of the labor that goes into the craft. The museum exhibition space is small but they always present a story that links dyeing within its historical context.

(Translated by Google) A unique botanical garden specializing in plants that can be used as dyes such as indigo and turmeric. From the general parking lot, walk along the walking path for about 5 minutes. There is an explanation board next to each plant, with color samples for aluminum, iron, and copper as mordants. Dyeing experience classes (charged) are held regularly, including indigo dyeing. When I visited, a lecturer from a dyeing workshop in Gujarat, India was being invited to give a hands-on class on traditional block printing. In the paid exhibition room, there are color samples of vegetable dyes used in the 12 stories of crowns and the 12 stories of the Heian period, as well as drawers containing threads dyed with various plants. I don't think so, but unfortunately, photography is prohibited, so I can't share photos of the inside of the museum on social media, and there aren't many people around. Isn't it possible to only allow photos taken with smartphones without flash for items other than those on deposit? Please be aware that there are some moss growing along the walking path in the park. It's a rest area and restaurant located in the greenhouse building in the middle, and apparently sells tea and boxed lunches except on weekdays.

I was interested in the Dye Botanical Garden on the grounds of Hakui Kannon, so I got off the bus near the Dye Botanical Garden. Admission to the park is free, and apparently there are many plants that can be used as raw materials for various dyes. But the timing was bad. Although it is February and there is still snow on the ground, only the plum trees are blooming. All that's left is a tree with fallen leaves. I regret that I should have come at a warmer time. The park is a good size and is located halfway up the mountain, so it might be a good idea to look around as if you were just taking a leisurely walk.
