Parks
Nong Prajak Park is a picturesque park featuring a serene lake, walking trails, a BMX track, and outdoor exercise equipment. Visitors can also enjoy the sight of giant inflatable ducks floating on the water. Exploring the local culture and history can make for a positive impression when visiting this Thai destination. Showing interest in traditions and folklore can demonstrate cultural sensitivity and open-mindedness, which may be appreciated by locals.
One of my most favorite public parks in whole Thailand and way better than even many Bangkok parks. So large, so multifunctional, so picturesque, so well maintained!
V K — Google review
One of the nicer parks I have seen in the country. Good that it has a theme. However needs more trees for shade in the late afternoon. Gets quite sunny. Park facilities are basic. If only there is a jogging-friendly connection link to the other parks nearby ...
Derek C — Google review
Best Park in Udon Thani – Great for Everyone! This is hands down the best park in Udon! The atmosphere is amazing — peaceful, green, and full of life. You'll find people of all ages enjoying different activities here: from cycling, jogging, and football to group dance practices and more. There are exercise machines available for free, making it a great spot to work out. If you're just looking to relax, you can sit by the water and enjoy the cool breeze — it's incredibly refreshing. The park is also very family-friendly. There's a separate, safe area with swings and playgrounds just for kids, so parents can relax while their children play. What makes it even better is that there are cafes and restaurants nearby, so you can grab a coffee or a bite to eat before or after your visit. Overall, it’s a perfect place to chill, exercise, or spend time with friends and family. Highly recommended for locals and visitors!!!
Maninder S — Google review
I love this park. I walk around the lake every day and feel relaxed while getting some exercise. Its beautifully maintained. It has both bike and jogging lanes. Its teaming with wildlife from fish in the lake to turtles and frogs. A very pleasant place to walk or bike around.

We love to come to Nong Prajak Park! There are so many ways you can spend your time here. The sunset over the lake is beautiful. We love to walk or bike around the park on the paths. Our kids love the vast array of playgrounds and work-out equipment. The bridges are fun and pretty.
Katie C — Google review
Really nice clean park in the centre of the city. Gardens are very well maintained. Has cycle and walking paths connecting all of the islands. Good place to go for a stroll and relax for a few hours with children. Bicycles can be rented nearby for cheap prices. There's a stall selling food to feed the birds and fish in the lake.
Wayne 8 — Google review
Tranquil lake with the famous Udon Thani ducks, although on our visit in early march they had been removed from the water to the lakeside - still a great photo op. At normal walking speed you can walk around the lake in around 1-hour, there's also option to jog and a dedicated cycle lane. Lots of food, drink, manicure and massage options around the perimeter. If you visit it in a weekend evening, you can combine with a visit to the large Udon Thani Weekend Night Market, with a huge variety of food, drink, new & vintage clothing, electronics etc.
Paul E — Google review
Great place to chill. It’s huge with lots of spot to unwind and relax. They have nice suspension bridges too which is very perfect for walking and photo ops. I love this park.

Red Lotus Lake Kumphawapi, located 60km from Udon Thani airport, is a popular destination for morning boat tours to admire the blooming pink water lilies. The best time to visit is from November to February between 6:00 am and 10:30 am. It's a picturesque spot that offers serene views of nature.
We visited in early January, and the red lotuses were in full bloom — truly breathtaking, especially at sunrise. This might be the most beautiful lotus lake we’ve ever seen. 🌸 Tips for visitors: Make sure to check the blooming season before you go. The lotuses typically bloom in the cool season (around November to February). Outside of this period, there might not be much to see. There is a ticket booth near the pier where you can choose from various boat types depending on your group size. For the best experience, visit early in the morning during winter — the weather is cool, the sunrise is stunning, and you’ll be surrounded by blooming lotuses, gentle mist, and the sound of birds. It’s a peaceful and unforgettable nature experience — absolutely worth the early wake-up.
K T — Google review
The atmosphere was good. When we came, the weather was good, the sky was overcast, not too hot. We arrived in the morning, there weren't many people yet. You can feed the elephants and various animals. There is a restaurant, coffee, and activities to do, you can easily spend time here at least 1-3 hrs including lunchtime. Recommend coming when the weather isn't too hot. On weekend afternoons, there are a lot of people. Have a goo day all 😊🌠
Sili Z — Google review
Visited on October 28th. Mostly sunny sky, beautiful weather. I parked in front of the ticket office at 7:40. There are also toilets. To see the red lilies you need to take a boat. Small boat for 2 persons 300B, boat up to 6 persons 500B. When i gave the 300B, the nice lady at the cashier returned me 100B, maybe because i was alone. A very honest behaviour, unusual in the tourism business. The boat ride to the area where lilies are took about 10 minutes at a relaxed pace Then the boat man entered slowly and respectfully of the water plants inside the lilies. When we stopped the boat and the silence surrounded us, it was magical. Around us thousands of red water lilies (although not as many as in the peak season), and many water birds and swallows chirping. The trip took almost an hour. Very impressed by nature and people here. Some Thai people at the dock even invited me for breakfast.
Antonio B — Google review
I visited in March which was not the season, but the Red Lotus Lake was on my bucket list. We rented a big boat for 500 baht. He took us out to several spots, and even stopped at the temple on the island. The lake was absolutely beautiful and tranquil. I enjoyed beautiful pink lotus, watching birds, and water buffalos. I recommend it for nature lovers.
Nik S — Google review
Small boat for up to 2 people - 300 Baht. Big Boat for up to 6 people - 500 Baht. It's very very beautiful to visit during Seasonal Period between December to January. The Ride is about One Hour. I did not regret travelling so far to see this amazing red lotus lake. Advice to Arrive there in the Early Morning before 0800 to avoid the strong sun and crowd.
Win Z — Google review
The sheer variety and beauty of the birds here is astounding! Their antics were absolutely hilarious – frantic food hunts, comical escapes from our boat, and the sheer chaos of their running retreats. And the lake? A perfect mirror reflecting it all. A truly delightful experience!
Юлия Т — Google review
Me and my girlfriend passed by Khumphawapi in wrong (dry) season so boat rides on the lake were closed. However we still found some beautiful lotuses along the road around the lake and walking in the fields

Every season has different lotus flowers, grab a boat and enjoy, you can have a bit dining too. Will come back 😊

Phu Phra Bat Historical Park is a captivating site featuring unique rock formations, ancient drawings, and sacred shrines. This historical park in Udon Province is easily accessible from Nong Khai and draws numerous Thai and international visitors annually. Notable attractions within the vicinity include Sala Keaw Khu sculpture park, the revered Luang Por Phra Sai Buddha Image, and the vibrant Thai-Lao Indochina Market known as Tha Sadet Market.
Beautiful historical park with diffrent trails for waking and different rock formations to see. Some of which have ancient paintings. At the entrance, there's plenty of parking and public toilets. The parking guard was very friendly. I would go again and explore more if I can.
Maitte C — Google review
This was our last stop on our family’s long weekend to Thailand, and it was easily my favorite. I was looking to fill a gap before going back to Laos. But this was one of the cleanest, well kept parks I’ve been to in Isaan. Only an hour from Nong Khai. We got there at 3:30 and it closes at 4:30. They were nice enough to give us an extra 30 minutes at the front desk. We hustled and still managed to see 19 out of the 27 landmarks. Leave yourself 3 hours to not feel rushed.
Dr. Q — Google review
A little slippery when it has been rainy but worth the effort! Stunning rock formations and prehistoric hand paintings. Beautiful walk and helpful guides at various points. If elderly or disabled they will take you on a golf cart to get closer to the natural sites and ancient ruins.
Laura O — Google review
When I arrived at the entrance office and purchased the entry ticket, a guide was allocated to me and provided with a detailed map of the area. If you are not keen on walking too much, they also provide electric buggies to reach the main area. But walking is essential if you want to visit other areas within the park. Short after entering this Unesco World Heritage site, you feel like you have entered to an ancient world with unusual rock formations created by erosions occurred millions of years ago. Although some of the paintings on the rocks are faded but can best be seen where some rocks have formed a natural shelter. Around these rocks, there are religious shrines with mostly Buddhist influence. You can see Sīma stones which are boundary markers for sacred areas of Buddhist activities. It is believed that this area has been inhabited since prehistoric times, about 2,500 to 3,000 years ago. My guide (Supannee) was very professional, knowledgeable and patient. She was very kind and took time to explain me details and history of various sites

A perfect afternoon/evening walk until closing, chill lil hike in the rainforest, if ure lucky, they bring u a bit indide ;) All ages, bring water and a hat.
SF J — Google review
Excellent archeological UNESCO site, well worth a visit. I had a cab take me out there from Nong Khai and wait, whilst I walked around by myself (organised by my hostel). The taxi was 1800 Baht flat fee for one person, or 2000 for three people (negotiable). I left at 9am and arrived back in Nong Khai by 1:30pm. The taxi was definitely worth the money. 400 baht p/h for transport and a driver is standard, with fuel included. Mr Winai also drove me to Udon Thani airport. He’s reliable and punctual, but doesn’t speak English. I would not recommend going by scooter as it is too far (60km and about a 2 hr ride), and online maps will probably not work out there. The site opens at 8:30, and I am glad I got there in the morning. This is not a place to visit on a really hot day (over 35), or in the afternoon. It is a not a busy tourist site. The walk around is easy (some stairs), but not wheelchair accessible. Kids over 5 would be fine. Plenty of signage and staff around, and you get a map with your 100 baht entry fee. Give yourself 2-3 hours, more if you want to go to the viewing platform, or walk the entire park. The little restaurant on the side of the carpark has noodles for 50 baht (with an English menu), which is where I stopped and had a nice lunch after the walk.
Yowie — Google review
This is a significant historical and religious site in Udon Thani, known for its natural beauty and spiritual importance. 🅿️ The parking area is spacious, making it easy to visit even on busy days. 📍 A new information center is clean, well-managed, and provides clear brochures, maps, and helpful guidance — all for just 20 THB per person. 🚘 There are golf carts available for elderly visitors, which is a thoughtful touch. 🌿 The entire site is very well maintained, with clean walking paths and detailed signs at each point of interest. 🪨 The rock formations at Phu Phra Bat are impressive and awe-inspiring. Every area is clean, accessible, and clearly marked. 🪑 Benches are placed thoughtfully along the walking route, perfect for those who need a break. The benches are new and very clean, adding to the comfort of the visit. ☀️ Best enjoyed on a clear weather day to fully appreciate the natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere.

Phu Foi Lom National Park is an expansive ecotourism destination designed to preserve rare flora and fauna. Visitors can wander through vibrant gardens, explore various trails, and admire picturesque landscapes. The park also features dinosaur statues and offers picnic areas. While the visitor center may be closed, the park provides a free and accessible retreat from urban life. Located near Khon Kaen and Udon Thani, it offers easy access for a day trip or weekend getaway.
1st time, camping alone of my life. Quiet place, also just have what you need for camping. Toilet are good and clean but no flush toilet just classic one. I meet new friends here. Good to visit on Nov-Jan.

Very nice park near Udon. Foreigner price 100b but they allowed me in for 20b because flowers not yet in full bloom. January will be the best time to see the beautiful flowers in bloom. Still lots of nice flowers and insects at this time in October.
Thai T — Google review
Lovely park with nice long walks, great viewpoints and beautiful gardens. Watch out for the dinosaurs! The place had lots of facilities although it is a bit tired and in need of some maintenance. The signposting could be better on the upper parts where the temple and the walks are.
Peter M — Google review
I couldn't believe this place was free to visit, the only negative was the visitor centre was closed and no information or leaflets available to provide a plan of the area. The signposted viewpoint is actually not the best viewpoint; carry on up the road from the main site to find the best views. There is a Caffè and Toilets in the Park. I think many Thai people come for the beautiful flowers and to have their photos taken with the flowers. It looks like you can camp for free on the site, could see an office where you would pay.
Miles M — Google review
Love this park. Everything is well taken care of and looks so beautiful ❤️
Ferxo C — Google review
Beautiful gardens This is one of the many places you can incorporate into a day trip around the Udon Thani area. Probably an hours drive from town and is about 600m above sea level. The garden areas are not massive but there's enough there to be worth a visit. The arrangements are very nice and colourful. The place is kept tidy and clean. Maybe a morning visit would better as in the afternoon it's quite hot and not as enjoyable.
Frank T — Google review
One of my favourite places not too far away from civilization - easy to reach from Khon Kaen and Udon Thani. Free entrance which these days is a rare find. A convenient drive up to the National park station and good paths up the mountain not too difficult even for the elderly, yet still natural. The temperature up on the mountain tends to be much cooler than down in the plains even though it isn't really that high at just some 600+ meters.

Specialty Museums
The Udon Thani City Museum is located in a beautifully preserved two-story building with western classical architecture, adapted for Thailand's tropical climate. The museum features 26 rooms showcasing various exhibitions related to the province's history, archaeology, natural history, geology, local history, art, culture, and traditions. Housed in a 1920s colonial-style building that was once a girls' school, the museum offers an intriguing collection covering diverse subjects from geology to provincial arts and culture.
I've been waiting for visit to this museum since it was being built over Covid period and am truly impressed with the great job done by its organizers both on construction, decoration and museum sides! Absolutely lovely, 100% informative exhibition with 100% bilingual narrative, a lot if interactive features, total air-conditioning, yet the charm of old school and then provincial administrative building is totally preserved. Well done the city of Udon Thani, thank you very much! I absolutely recommend all visitors to Udon Thani to pay a visit there, especially after lovely walk around the nearby lake and beautiful Nong Prachak park.
V K — Google review
A broad spread of the history of Udon Thani and the region. Early exhibits are only in Thai but as you move through more have a Thai and English explanation. A strong focus on the growth of Udon over the past 150 years. Worth a visit.
David A — Google review
Free for everyone, the museum is very nice. Easily to access for everyone including wheelchair users. Multiple interactive points for children are really nice and interesting. Very warm welcome from all staff. Definitely, we will recommend this place to our friends and family. If we could have a chance, we will certainly be back to visit again soon. Really nice and joy with my family there!
Lily C — Google review
This place is beyond my expectation! Usually the city museum is not well maintain or old but not this place. The staff did the great job and the exhibition is interesting. Not saying that this is the best museum in Thailand but this make me rank Udon Thani top in my heart.
Tanat L — Google review
You can visit this museum at no charge, FREE. Just register at the building next to it. It’s nice and informative and I’m amazed with the variety of display. Definitely a must go if you are in town.
Roel A — Google review
It's a well-organized museum that offers an informative and concise look at Udon Thani's past, making it a worthwhile stop for those interested in local heritage. It's free.
Prang C — Google review
This is a really interesting museum if you want to learn about Udon Thani and the city's role in the history of the entire country. Udon Thani might be a small city and does not get a lot of tourist attention, but it played an important role in the Siam empire. This museum is well curated and the layout is easy to navigate. The pieces they have on display are unique and most have English descriptions. We spent over an hour and learned a lot about the city, its people and the Thai nation. Free to visit and has plenty of parking.
Belle — Google review
Free to visit museum. Apart from a piece on the ending of the Vietnam conflict, all the audio and audio/visual presentations are in Thai. However, written descriptions are in both Thai and English throughout the museum. There's quite a bit to see here on two floors, and you just follow the one-way route. You have the geological history of the Isan area described at the start. Udon Thani actually means Northern Town. It is interesting to learn about the history of Udon Thani and how it came into existence. I was particularly interested in the influence American had in Udon, resulting from the establishment of military bases in the area. It affected the region both culturally and economically as personnel needed a variety of facilities and services from the local communities. This impact carried forward into the Cold War era where Thai & American governments worked together in deterring the spread of communism in Asia. If you are Thai or understand Thai language, you can pick up a card at reception, which you can use to activate the audio/visual elements of the museum.

Nature & Parks
Nong Khai Aquarium, located about 4km outside of Nong Khai community, offers a unique experience for visitors interested in local fish species. The aquarium features freshwater and deep-sea fish from Thailand, including the impressive Mekong catfish as its star attraction. While not easily accessible by public transport, it provides a relaxing environment with a barbecue yard and beverage stalls. Additionally, the aquarium showcases three Buddha images with historical significance.
Pleasant place to visit with kids. We had fun and it was just 230 bhat for two adults and one child.
Nuch R — Google review
I visited this aquarium with my friends. We started from Nong Khai station and booked a Grab car to get there. Since it was our first time in Nong Khai, the distance from the station to the aquarium felt quite far. Considering the hot weather in Thailand, taking a car was definitely the best option. The aquarium is located on Nong Khai Campus, Khon Kaen University. We had to pay an entrance fee upon arrival. As university students, we showed our student cards to get a discount. Inside, the aquarium was clean, and the air conditioning made it very comfortable. The variety of fish was impressive, especially the species from the Mekong River. Each tank was clearly labeled with information, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Near the exit, there’s a souvenir stand where we could take a break. Overall, I really enjoyed my visit and would recommend it to others.
Putu A — Google review
I visited the Nong Khai Aquarium during my sightseeing tour of Udon Thani province. It has got a good collection of fish species such as predatory fish, species inhabiting coral reefs, commercially important fish and many more from various parts of the world. You can see some interesting species from the Mekong River and some critically endangered fish as well. It is worthwhile to visit this Aquarium if you are in this area.
Neil R — Google review
We visited the Nong Khai Aquarium last two week ago with our kid and had a really enjoyable time. The tunnel tank was the definite highlight for all of us! Walking through the glass tunnel with giant fish, and other Mekong River fish swimming overhead was fantastic. Overall, we had a great family experience. It’s a fun, educational, and cool.
Phyo M — Google review
My experience was OK. Little kids seemed to enjoy though. Many empty and dirty tanks. Started with paying more money for myself than the rest of the family, because I am a foreigner. But...that seems to be the norm with most National Parks and sites (my limited experience over the past year). Even my Thai family doesn't understand why we don't pay the same price. There are some cool things to see in the glass tunnel. Overall, has a lot of potential. Just needs some TLC.
Paul L — Google review
The fish are mainly those found in the Mekong River which is informative enough but there are no colourful fish. The show consists of a diver going into the massive aquarium and feeding the same fish which swarm around him.
Karen F — Google review
It was good experience. I assume can do diving there but did not see the price. If you have Thai driving licence can pay Thai price. Thai people 70 THB Foreigners 150 THB Worth to show your Thai driving licence 😉😉😉 Close to main gate caffe where you can order good local price food.

It's cheaper for the ticket. I really enjoyed exploring this aquarium. I learnt many kinds of fish here. The toilet is clean enough. There's a souvenir booth before exit.

The City Pillar Shrine, also known as San Lak Mueang, is a significant shrine in Udon Thani. Built in 1999, it is believed to house the guardian deity of the city. The shrine features modern Isan architecture and is guarded by an imposing yaksa (giant) and protected by a protective case. Located at the heart of the city, it stands out with its unique features and serene atmosphere.
A must visit when in Udon Thani, take your shoes off before entering the grounds (not just the shrines/ temples). Very impressive when illuminated in the evening. Bonus points if you visit in a weekend evening - it's next to the large Udon Thani Weekend Night Market with a great variety of bee/ vintage clothing, food, electronics etc.

Absolutely one of the better city pillar shrines I have seen in Thailand. Covering a pretty big area compared to most other similar shrines there’s plenty to see here. The shrine is surrounded by a nice little park area that is very well kept. A must see location in Udon Thani in my opinion

Wat Pa Ban Tat, also known as Wat Khaek, is a serene Buddhist monastery located in the forested area south of Udon Thani city. Established by the renowned Thai monk Luang Ta Maha Bua, this small temple is well-preserved and protected by a concrete wall. It offers an ideal setting for Buddhist history enthusiasts to enhance their knowledge while being surrounded by nature.
This is a temple that everyone will be happy to visit as it is spread over a large area. Everything here is nice, clean and tidy, which is certainly not a given. At the entrance there is a museum, and it is possible to borrow umbrellas for use during the tour if you feel like it. To visit the place, you have to take the starting point in the parking lot, as there is no access from the other side. The parking space is huge, and should accommodate everyone who may come to visit.

Very good Wat. The museum was a highlight. The building are amazing, the attention to details is fantastic. Something I really like. If choosing between places to go and you like to be educated a little then this might be the place for you

A beautiful Buddhist temple dedicated to someone of great national importance to Thailand and its people. A huge site, a tranquil setting, and the opportunity to learn more about the life of Luang Ta Maha Bua.

This is a Theravada Buddhist monastery, Thai Forest Tradition was built in 1955, located in the udon thani, Thailand. Ajahn Maha Bua, a Thai meditator is the founder.

A beautiful Temple on a beautiful site surrounded by a moat. I hadn't realised that there is also a large museum on the same site but it's closed on Mondays. There are big car parks on either side of the Temple site so I expect this place is very popular during Buddhist celebrations/festivals. Do also visit the opened sided assembly hall seperate to the island next to the main car park. There is the structure for many stalls along one side of the car park but it was very quiet today, not many visitors. Temple is free to visit, just sign your name and where you're from. Shoes must be taken off and put on racks at the entrance to the site.
Miles M — Google review
This forest monastery has a long history of community centric activities. Way back during the 1997 Asian currency crisis its famous abbot rallied support for the Thai economy via donations. Even today the temple features such activities as free health services incl. traditional Thai medicine and massage. People around offer free food and drinks for the visitors. Unlike many other popular places there is no hussle for donations and no commercial interest. Very friendly and welcoming.

The architecture is really beautiful, especially the woodwork. We need to wear properly or they will give you a long skirt. It's hot here as no tree along the road. So umbrella/hat/sunglasses are recommended.

A very beautiful place to visit. Regardless of religion, this place gives you a feel of peace and quiet. Moderate crowd and able to keep safe distancing. Really worth visiting especially for those who loves to take pictures. The black and white combo give a very good contrast. Do not worry on walking around without shoes, the marbles used for flooring are fabulous as you do not feel the heat during noon.

Some lovely orchids to see and buy to take away. The scented ones weren't ready when we visited - they tend to be propagated in the rainy season. They do have a lovely scent though. Not too impressed by the dancing orchids - there was a gentle breeze moving the leaves, not convinced that it was in response to the little Bluetooth speaker!
Andrew W — Google review
Very disappointed. When we went, the place was open, but there was no one around to talk to. The orchids are well maintained, and there are a lot of them, but they are primarily one variety. Floors were slick from wet algae. If you really like orchids, then it might be worth a visit.
Edd R — Google review
If you or your SO enjoys orchids, then a visit here will be worthwhile. They have a unique orchid that has a nice fragrance in the morning, but the fragrance fades in the afternoon. Therefore, if you wish to visit, I would suggest you do so in the morning. If you are not into orchids/plants, you can probably pass on this one, as there really is little see other than the orchids and other plants.

Not a lot to see here but then there is not a lot to see in Udon Thani. That being said, it is a pleasant diversion requiring no more than 30 mins of your time. The Ban Chiang National Museum in Udon Thani is a captivating attraction that brings the history of the region to life. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it holds great significance as one of Southeast Asia's most important settlements. Visitors can explore ancient tools, pottery, jewelry, and dioramas that provide insight into early wet-rice agriculture and metalwork.
It was New Year's Day, so we were able to enter for free. I was impressed that the design of the excavated vases was still clearly visible. There was a QR code that could be translated into about six languages, which was very fun. I bought a shirt and a key chain with a vases design as souvenirs.

This museum chronicles a remarkable episode in twentieth century archaeology. In this village in the late 1960s villagers uncovered beautiful pots with red on buff designs. These were evidence of a hitherto unsuspected Bronze Age culture in South East Asia. The museum covers the extraordinary bronze and pottery found nds made at the site. Entrance costs 150 baht.

1-hr driving from Udon Thani city. The place is well-maintained and clean. They exhibit ancient artifacts from excavation with some historical hypothesis. Apart from that, there is nothing much (~1 hr walking around). There is a white lotus temple that you should also visit (10 min drive). Replicant pot painting is also enjoyable.

Ban Chiang National Museum is located in the North East of Thailand, in a town named Udon Thani. This museum is full of artifact from the Bronze Era like 3000 to 1800 BC. The excavation was started in the 70's and King Bumiphol was there to witness the excavation and all documented in the museum with audio visual as well. Tickets priced at 50 baht for locals and 150 baht for foreigners. The Museum closes at 4.00 pm.

Interesting museum. Extremely well preserved jars and other precious metals. We learnt a lot about history of this region of Thailand. It is about 45min from Udon Thani. Highly recommend if you are curious about history and conservation.

Highly rated museum with internationally validated information that was fun to walk around. The staff was helpful and eager to share insights. There is an audio tour and a video to provide additional background and context. The pottery and burial sites of the prehistoric people who lived here thousands of years ago are extremely significant archeological and anthropological findings on a global scale. To understand the impact of these findings in Southeast Asia, and Thailand in particular, is fascinating and wonderful. The ticket cost was 150B for foreigners and 30B for Thais. It's a UNESCO site.

Usotel Waterland is a vibrant aquatic park that promises a day of excitement for families, especially the younger crowd in Udon Thani. With an array of thrilling water slides, a dedicated kiddie pool, and a relaxing lazy river, there's something for everyone to enjoy. Non-swimmers can take advantage of complimentary life vests and inner tubes while parents can unwind with snacks and drinks on the main building's ground floor.
Great place to take the kids. 4 different size water slides, large kiddy pools. Good food available too. Reasonably priced. Enjoyed the day.
David J — Google review
Foreign prices here even for Thai national children when in company with foreigner parent. They said the entry fee information at google for using kids pool 100thb per person only, was out dated. Meanwhile i argued over this, multiple locals actually came and paid 100baht and walked in. My oldest daughter who lives in Thailand permanently felt sad understanding what was going on there and we had to leave the place and drive 30kms to the next water park. Also, if the information would really been out dated, such a big branch should keep their information up to date frequently, for people to know before they decide to drive there

Kids had a lot of fun. Parking was plentiful, and the parking attendant was very friendly and courteous. Only suggestion for staff is to ensure tables are cleared of food and cleaned after guests leave as it looks unsightly.

Normally give 4-5 stars, but this time, there are many points for improvement. Want to give 3.5 stars but can't, so I'll give 3 instead. For the owner who invested, I deducted 1 star for the female staff at the door, whose face was very negative, not impressive. Another deduction is because the toys are old and dirty, especially the water. There is some moss, some dirt, some tiles under the floor are broken, making it easy to get injured. And another deduction is because everything is expensive. You can rent towels, lizards, and rubber rings. The price should be raised a bit more to include all of this. It would be better to walk back and forth several times before you can play. There is only an open shower in front of the bathroom. After showering, you have to walk to the bathroom to change. It will be a bit difficult if you have to wash your hair because there are only 4 standing places to shower and the water is gentle. But if you don't think too much, kids will like to have fun as kids do. Go in the evening so it's not too hot. There is food for sale as well. Coffee, drinks, good luck and have a nice day. it is located in the city which is a good thing.
Sili Z — Google review
Very good fun. If people in your party don't want to swim the price is reduced. Although I would recommend that your friend who doesn't want to go on the slide go with you to take your shoes back as walking bare feet is not comfortable.
Matt — Google review
Nice water park in the middle of the city, mainly geared towards younger children. Unfortunately, the facilities and slides are quite outdated and poorly maintained. Renovation is definitely needed here. The food is okay but nothing special. The slides are old too, but still gave an adult a lot of fun 😎👌🏻 The path to the slides is very rocky and painful 😣 – this really should be improved with sand, wood, or something similar. Other than that, it was a nice day with a foam party for the little ones at the end. 😎👍🏻🇹🇭

Kids 100B Adult100B that for playing kids zone. If want to play the big slide that's 250B per person. Locker rental at 50B per locker. No kids float will be provided. Everything have to buy. No bringing of own water bottle. Drinks at 30B per bottle. Food is kinda expensive also. Lazy river is full of defects on floor. Becareful to get cuts. Worst is no proper toilet to Shower. Shower in a open place and go in the toilet to get changed. That's it.

Finally, it's finished. The magic flower I've been waiting for... The room is filled with a sweet and juicy scent, enticing me to try it. I believe fresh trichomes are 100% better than farm-made ones, judging by the flower clusters, which have been trained by growers who know how much water plants consume per minute. Everyone needs to try them to know that what I've said is absolutely true.

Very popular site. The big parking area accommodates many visitors coming by minibuses & coaches. There is alot of landscaping going on around the main temple building with the earth dug up and trees being installed. Having read other reviews, I want to return here at night, but it was very nice if somewhat hot during the day. It's a small but beautiful shrine, and I loved the mosaic floor with its colourful stone inlays and design. The shrine is next to the lake, which has several pavilions above the water. Khon Kaen Zoo is a large zoo featuring animals from around the world. It has undergone significant improvements in recent years, including the addition of Khon Kaen Water Park in 2014. While not as expansive as some other zoos, it offers transportation options and a gift shop for visitors' convenience. The entrance area offers local food such as grilled chicken and papaya salad.
One of the best zoo in Thailand. There's golf cart to rent and drive around freely or you can take a tram to go spot by spot. Many zones has been newly renovated. Animals are in good health and active. Nice place to spend quality hours with your family.
Opas O — Google review
It's a great zoo and very big. But i don't recommend walking cause it's too big. Take the tour cars or hire a private golf cart for a good price. I came too late only 2 hours before close and it was too short to enjoy all the animals.
Joakim H — Google review
The zoo is very nice and offers a wide variety of animals and species. The highlights are definitely the capybara parade and the sea lion show, which lasts around 20 minutes—entertaining without taking too much of your time. For getting around, the zoo provides a small open-air shuttle bus for only 10 baht per person (easy to hop on and off) or, if you prefer, a golf cart for 300 baht per hour for personal use. Both options are very convenient given the size of the park. Some reviews describe the place as run-down, but I don’t agree. The zoo is very large, so it’s unrealistic to expect every single corner to be spotless, yet overall the maintenance is good. The animal enclosures are more spacious than I expected, and the animals seem to have enough room to move around and retreat to their own spaces when needed. The only downside is the ticket policy. Foreigners are charged a much higher price than Thai visitors, even though everyone enjoys the same activities. In my opinion, this is unfair and leaves a bad impression. I also suggest the zoo to clearly state that foreigners with the pink ID card are entitled to the Thai price, since not all staff seem aware of this rule. In my case, the cashier tried to overcharge me and gave me no explanation other than: “Well, because you are a foreigner.” This was very disappointing and unprofessional. Overall, the zoo is worth visiting for its variety of animals, unique shows, and size, but I really hope the management reviews their pricing policy to make it a more welcoming experience for everyone
Agnese T — Google review
This zoo has dual pricing, 350 for a foreigner and 130 for Thai people. Foreigners don’t receive anything extra despite paying more. If you are charging so much more for foreigners, at least provide some freebies with the ticket, like a bottle of water and a free tram ticket. The zoo itself is ok. There are some fun feeding opportunities and the seal show is entertaining. It’s a huge space, you definitely need to take the tram around or hire a golf cart for 300 per hour. There is also a water park, a camping zone and the Africa zone 2km away from the zoo.

Children loved it. Highly recommend hiring your own golf cart to get around the zoo. Had no issues with the hills like some other reviewers had. Took us about 2.5 hours, navigating at our own speed. The zoo was clean and the animals seemed to be well looked after.

Right nearby Tawa Daeng which is THE iconic isan style club ! If that’s not your cup of tea then read further about Day & Night complex.. Reviews are slightly harsh, solid 4/5 if you swing by with the right mindset, attitude &… okay good look perhaps? 20 bars to choose from ! Beers priced reasonably from 75-100, LD 150B. Girls are warm & cheerful if you choose the right one (hint, no eye contact no smirk means no interest), be mindful this is no pattaya soi 6 or phuket bangla tho. Again, i might be biased being in my early 30’s and an athlete. Good luck gents!

Some nice ladies but not easy to pick up. Only worth visiting if you want to play some pool / have a drink. Not the place to pick-up.

Very expensive bars. Many lady boys. Lady drink is 300+ THB. Ladies(not girls) just try to rip off foreigners. It was little earlier when I visit there but no customers.

Good place to visit if you want a choice of bars and female company, not expensive, caters for all tastes. More than 20 bars to choose from. With names of the bars like Gspot, okbar, oo lala, outlaw bar to name but a few. Open from 12 noon till midnight, with calls of welcome as you walk to your favourites spot.

Fun nightspot in Central Udon. Abundant & clean beer bars with girls, music and billiards. Like most places in Thailand nowadays...it's diamond mining. But usually can find a diamond (or two) in the rough. Prob much better pre CV-19 but still worth a look-see.

A large, long building lined with many bars, and bar ladies eager to get you to buy a drink. If its pool, ladies and drinks you after, this is the spot. Downside is most of the bars play their music, competing and echoing in the spacious hall.

The park itself is marvelous, with immaculate surroundings and meticulous upkeep. There are multiple bike repair stations available, catering to cyclists' needs. This park offers a splendid opportunity to walk, jog or cycle around the picturesque lake.

This is a very quiet mall in Udonthani. There’s a cinema, Starbucks, KFC, Dunkin Donuts inside. It has a food court, but only 3 booths were open. I really like the view of Udonthani from the food court window. It’s a peaceful place to chill out and escape the heat outside. There’s a few floors of electronics shops. There was a wide selection of laptops and phones for sale at very inexpensive prices. Many of the shops provide repairs to phones, apple products and computers. Another highlight of this mall is Harborland, a huge play area for children. This mall would be perfect to keep small kids entertained on a hot or rainy day, while having a coffee or a phone repair.

Buddhist temple
Wat Phrathat Bangphuan is a fascinating historical temple located in a relatively obscure location. It features a Naga pond with water believed to have magical qualities, used in special ceremonies. The grounds house ancient Chedi relics alongside modern temple buildings and an Ordination Hall by the lake. Visitors can explore the site's historical items, each explained with plaques in both Thai and English.
พระธาตุบังพวน (Phra That Bang Phuan) is one of the most revered and ancient Buddhist stupas in Nong Khai Province, Thailand. Located in the Phra That Bang Phuan Subdistrict of Mueang Nong Khai District, this sacred site holds deep religious and historical significance for both locals and visitors. Phra That Bang Phuan is believed to enshrine relics of the Lord Buddha, brought from India. According to ancient chronicles, such as the Tamnan Urangkha That, the monument’s origins date back to between the 1st and 3rd centuries A.D. The stupa has undergone several reconstructions over the centuries, reflecting various architectural influences, including those from the Lan Xang Kingdom. Notably, in 1970, the stupa collapsed after leaning for years, and subsequent archaeological studies revealed that the current structure was built atop two earlier stupas, one of which is a laterite stupa approximately 8 meters high. The stupa stands on a four-tiered base with entrant angles at each corner. Each side of the square chedi features four large niches, and the relic chamber is adorned with an inverted lotus-shaped roof with outspread petals. Above this sits a square bell element and a spire drawn out to a point. The current structure is a reconstruction that reflects the architectural style reminiscent of Phra That Phanom. Sacred Sites Within the Temple Grounds • Sa Mucalinda (Mucalinda Pond): An ancient sacred pond featuring a statue of a seven-headed Naga in its center. According to legend, after the Buddha’s relics were enshrined, water emerged from the ground at this location, leading locals to believe that the area was once protected by Nagas. • Satta Maha Sathan: A group of ancient sites within the temple complex built according to Buddhist beliefs, representing replicas of places associated with the Lord Buddha. Phra That Bang Phuan is not only a place of worship but also a testament to the rich cultural and historical tapestry of the region. Its ancient origins, architectural beauty, and sacred relics make it a must-visit destination for those exploring Nong Khai.

Interesting site famous for it's Naga (Serpent) pond whose water is supposed to have magical qualities and is used at special ceremonies. Within the grounds there are much older Chedi relics along with the more modern Temple buildings. The Temple Ordination Hall is further down the site, by the lake where there are are also accommodations for the monks. Place is popular with Thai people visiting to make merit.

The beautiful temple that I felt refreshing when I walked inside the temple because there has a lot of trees and a pond of great Naga near the chapel which has a green water. National park
Phu Kao - Phu Phan Kham National Park, established in 1985 as Thailand's 50th national park, spans an impressive 322 square kilometers. Nestled alongside the Ubonratana reservoir, this expansive area is perfect for hiking and cycling enthusiasts. Visitors can explore its unique sandstone formations while enjoying the serene backdrop of the lake and mountains.
This is a safe family location in the national park. It looks onto the lake with the mountain ridge as a back drop. There is safe camping and BBQ areas with electric lighting to illuminate the numerous pathways. You can also charge devices at the outlets. There are small roofed sitting and recreational areas also a lecture facility for schools and groups. Shelter can be taken in these Thai style shelters during increment weather. Toilet and wash rooms are available. A small shop offers basic needs from toiletries, snacks, noodles, tea coffee, water, soft drinks and beer. The shop recently added a small sitting veranda/balcony to enjoy and relax with the cool breeze from the lake. National Park Rangers patrol the site 24hrs and always maintaining the grounds. All guide advice can be sought at the park office and several trecking routes pointed out. The dam and its 9 hole golf course is a few miles away with a driving range about 1 mile from camp to practice on if required. Enroute to the dam is a full sized pump station with the usual outlets and a 7/11. BBQ essentials can be bought in town and taken back to camp at any time. The camp shop will close around 1700hrs but access in and out is controlled 24/7. There is a relaxed check out time of 0900hrs and later as long as you are packing up. Cheap, safe, and all local amenities within 10 minutes range including country Thai food stalls to the left heading north. This location is 5 stars and a regular outdoors must for me. Edit 18th Dec 2017: I never heard of or ever seen signs prohibiting alcohol in Thailand national parks. There is a small shop that used to sell beer but no more. They have built a great looking outside sitting area but if you want a cold beer then no. Strictly no bringing or sale of alcohol here. So gran will be written off if it does not relax the rule. Yes it's nature and the wderness but it is a relaxation park. Lighting, bbq spots, salas, sitting areas, the shop, bungalows, toilets and the new veranda to picnic an ideal place to socialise sitting in the comfort of nature. Just no alcohol. The signs are on many trees and downgrades the place. Signs for recycling, no smoking, parking, toilets, disabled..... An eyesore. I will refrain from further visits hoping it soon goes back to the carefree place it was.
Stuart M — Google review
This national park is a bit small in terms of places to go. But it’s a nice spot to chill and quiet. The dinosaur museum is also small but included in the price. 1 star because of the usual discriminatory pricing. It's a nice place for camping or picnics or a swim. Worth the drive if at ubolratana dam. There is a 600m trail from samran cape to the headquarters area, all along the lake. Other than that there isnt much else to do or see. If you want to avoid the entrance fee travel north 100-200m past the checkpoint and there is a disused road heading down to the lake. It has a barrier so cars cant pass but you can walk. Scooters might be able to get around barrier. I lifted my bicycle over it.

A lovely cool oasis, but desperately in need of maintenance with holes in the footbridges and pathways. The Chinese-Thai cultural centre on the south side is the best kept, and well worth a visit.

Great walking non slip track, well designed greenery. Very quiet away from traffic. Friendly landscaping personnel. Several places to sit and relax. A temple and a coffee shop add to your pleasure. Don t miss to go feed the carps at the Chinese Thai cultural center. Sad but there is garbage can I'm the park. It s safe and clean. Go out and exercise.
Jp L — Google review
Good park. There are benches, though not very much... No big trees with big shadows, just average ones. The green zone between the water and the road around could be wider... Some architectural compositions have no creative, as for me. It's good for the morning and evening walk. In the day time, as I mentioned, not enough shadow... Nearby is a Chinese center, where you can visit a museum and buy some Chinese tea (good shop).
Boris D — Google review
Udon doesn't have many options when it comes to public parks. This park is a good place to exercise. There's a bike trail and also a walking trial going nearly all the way around the lake, along with several exercise stations. I walked the circumference in about 30 minutes, at an easy pace. There are some shady spots for a picnic along the east side of the lake, and there are a few basic restaurants on the east side as well. More food sellers are located near the railroad tracks near the south entrance to the business park and at least two cafes inside the Thai Chinese Cultural Center. This park has improved over the years but could still use improvement. I saw very little trash on the ground, but the exercise equipment has seen better days and there appear to be people living on some of the park benches. Oh, and while you are here, the cultural center is quite an interesting (and pretty) attraction. Worth a visit.
John K — Google review
For people like me who love to walk early in the morning, this park is wonderful. It's about 20 minutes walk from Central Mall and the walk around the lake takes about 40 minutes. What is not clearly indicated if you do a Google search is that this place is opened 24/7 simply because it's not enclosed. Enjoy !

While the park is relatively small, it offers good value for families. The clean water and reasonable prices make it an enjoyable destination for kids under ten years old.
The big pool was under renovation, but my kids just wanted to play at the pool for younger kids anyway. The water is clean. The kids pool has a green tile that makes the water look dirty but it is clean. My kids had a good time. Prices were reasonable. We had 6 people in our group and it cost just over 500 baht. Lots of shade to sit beside the pool.
Jeff S — Google review
Prices of entry gone up almost tripple even just to sit and watch has gone up in price i think for the price you pay all the slides should be working and perhaps refurbished they were rusty , the tiles on the bottom of the swimming area were cracked and hurt your feet , also stray dogs just wondering through , its ashame this is not our first visit 2 adults and 4 children but it is definately our last time going here its cheaper to drive to khon kaen go visit the zoo and their waterpark is free with the zoo ticket price
Jim G — Google review
Good for kids, not so much adults. Looks a little dated and warn, but all in all it was an enjoyable day and good escape from the heat with easy parking.

Kevin M — Google review
A beautifully maintained landmark. Impossible to reach because of the traffic, but who wants to sit on a roundabout anyway?
Alan P — Google review
Yeah it’s a roundabout with a fountain. Really not that special and I would say this is the something worth walking or driving a longer distance for. If you happen to be in the neighbourhood of this roundabout, sure go see it but else just leave it be

If you're on the hunt for an exceptional dining experience in Udon Thani, look no further than "หมากแข้ง | MAK KHANG THAI-ISSAN CUISINE." This culinary gem is helmed by the talented Chef Num and Chef Jo, who masterfully blend traditional Thai Isan flavors with modern twists. Their menu showcases locally sourced ingredients, resulting in dishes that are not only delicious but also thoughtfully crafted.
Outstanding Thai Isan food in Udon Thani. Lots of locally sourced ingredients, and combining traditional and modern interpretations of Isan and Thai dishes. The "gaeng ran juen" was amazing, and I also loved the steak sliced on top of "kee lek (Siamese cassia)" - a bitter medicinal taste that complemented the smoky meat. Amazing combinations, I will definitely be coming here every visit to Udon Thani.
Mark W — Google review
Good experience of Thai food. You will not see their menus in the other restaurants. Unique and tasty. However, many of the menus were sold out on that day so I didn't have chance to try them.

The food is delicious and has an incredible back story where food is used as medicine. Every detail is thoroughly thought of. Definitely a gem in Udonthani. Chef joe is very knowledgeable. Very impressive evening.

Fusion thai food. Some menus are great, some are good and some are in doubt. Overall food is very inspiring with the Thai taste but in experimental presentation. Recommend
Prawaltong T — Google review
Chef Num, Chef Jo are definitely genius and excellent with his food and his perspective. All the menus we had was super tasty, well-thought and yet humble. Every dishes are refined leaving us impressed. The menu is based on local cuisine but done it the most proper yet creative without any pretentiousness. Their food is organic and it represents the way food should be cooked & served. We wish we could find something like this in other side of the country too. A proper soot that serves decent local food that supports the community. Respect! A must visit restaurant in Udonthani (with so many parkings). Reservation is always better, i am so sure that this spot will be a lot busier in the coming years if they keep serving food like this. Cheers to the team krub! You guys deserve all the credits for all the hard work you have done. Best of luck in the future.

Food was not bad but not super great considering the price. The must-try dish is the grilled wagu beef. The service was good, and the place is in a good location with lots of parking space

Love every menu here! The reasonable price, the herbal drink, the blending taste between the North and the South as well as the tasty flavour has caught all stars!
