Nestled in the heart of Kaiserslautern, Gartenschau Kaiserslautern is a hidden gem that beautifully combines nature, art, and fun. This expansive outdoor theme park features stunning gardens and themed exhibitions that captivate visitors of all ages. One of its standout attractions is the Dinosaur Park, where life-sized dinosaur replicas roam among educational displays—perfect for sparking curiosity in young minds. Families will find plenty to keep everyone entertained at Gartenschau.
I absolutely love this place! My kids enjoyed it as well. Lots to do and see. Kid friendly as they have many play areas for them. They have a mini golf course as well next to the food area. Certainly will be coming back!

Absolutely fantastic way to spend an afternoon. We had some family in town and took the kiddos to the park to run around and look at the dinos. Plus, their food options are well priced and tasty. Nothing but great things to say, we'll be getting a season pass.
Devin E — Google review
Nice park with dinosaurs at every corners, they even had a Lego place, it was so nice. The food court had fish and vegetarian option and very affordable. Great place for kid and adult.
Wale K — Google review
It is amazing and so beautiful in spring... I just love it . You can find something to eat and playgrounds for kids .
Nina A — Google review
Amazing place for families! Not so crowded, with shallow water for kids and different play areas. There's also a great lego museum, with fun creations.
Juliana O — Google review
Beautyful place for both adults and children, nice playing grounds for diverse activities like skateboarding, minigolf, experiments. Also, you can buy some snacks here and have a little picnic in the shadow, next to the small river. Relaxing for parents and full of activities for bigger children.

Thank you so much reading 📖 my beautiful review. Very top 🔝 entrance. 13/09/2022 I visit this Park. Really Such a cool park. Sprawling playground with so many attractions and features for kids of all ages. Mainly 🦕 🦖 Dinosaur covered all. Well maintained in the area. God salute 🫡 for the Team. Definitely better suited for older. There was an awesome cafe with lots of good food options. It would probably take 1 full hour to do and see everything. We were there 2-3 hours and mainly stayed in the same two playground areas plus walked around the majority of the park quickly to look. Bring a picnic blanket and snacks and a stroller if needed enjoy! I am enjoyed. I hope you too 😎
Anton — Google review
My family and I came here for a fall festival. The pumpkin sculptures were fun to see and the dinosaur statues were cool as well. The real highlight was the number of playgrounds. Our kids were in playground heaven! We ordered a few small items off of the menu. They were descent. We will probably go back again next season.

The Japanischer Garten und Japan-Imbiss is a vast, well-maintained Japanese garden that features various attractions like a teahouse, festivals, and waterfalls. It is filled with lush green trees and plants, tranquil sitting areas, and bodies of water where one can find fishes and ducks. The park also offers excellent photo opportunities; however, it tends to get crowded on sunny days.
Beautiful gardens. Ponds with koi fish. Waterfalls. Stone paths and steps. Lots of photo opportunities. Very relaxing. Has small snack bar. Has visitor restrooms. Small gift shop at the entrance. Reasonable admission fees.

Stopped in and enjoyed the time here. It was smaller than we expected but we still had a nice walk around. This is not a stroller friendly place at all, so consider that when planning your visit. Lots of beautiful trees and scenery. Maps had us park down the street and there were not signs showing us where to go but we found it…
Leslie V — Google review
This garden was really beautiful and literally couldn't sit and read a book if it was warmer outside. Parking was great and close. Definitely worth a visit and will be posting on our insta @Parksidemagic soon and will show you what your missing out on. Looking forward to going back in spring
Greg L — Google review
Garden was beautiful and perfect for a nice walk. It was serene and an amazing place for pictures. It’s well kept and the ducks and koi fish were so pretty in the small lake.
Melody C — Google review
Great place to stop if it's on your way. Inexpensive and gorgeous. If you arrive on the weekend there's free parking right next to it, drive up the ally by the side of the garden entrance
Tamirkat — Google review
Japanese Garten is a refreshing patch of nature in the middle of the city center. Although we missed the earlier blossoming of trees, the garden areas and trails were well maintained and beautiful. There are benches throughout the garden. Koi fish, ducks and other birds add to the picturesque setting of the garden. If looking to enjoy a book, take the perfect picture or just quietly observe nature, the garden is a great place for self reflection. A Japanese Tea ceremony is periodically performed within the grounds. There is also a a small outdoor cafe where you can get a beverage and light snack. This is a must see location in Ktown.
M. H — Google review
So peaceful and they have plants for sell too - such a lovely lil time with the kids
Fia K — Google review
Very peaceful! It is 6,50€ to enter and WELL worth it! There are beautiful koi fish in the pond and the views are spectacular. I'm going to have to come back and have a little picnic at this garden and maybe bring my books to study. It's gorgeous and sooo soo peaceful. Definitely going to make this place my little "escape" from reality. It doesn't even feel like you are in Germany when you walk in. Extremely ethereal. And hearing the waterfall was just so calming. I absolutely cannot wait to go back!

Das Brauhaus an der Gartenschau is a unique dining spot in Kaiserslautern, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany. It stands out as an inclusive establishment with a diverse menu that prominently features vegan and vegetarian dishes. The restaurant offers options like homemade potato-spinach patties with cashew crust for those seeking plant-based meals. While the service may be slow, the food is worth the wait according to some patrons.
Clean place with great service. Our waitress put her all efforts to communicate English with us. We appreciate that. Food was delicious. Schnitzel and mushroom sauce is their flagship dish I would say.
Agnieszka H — Google review
All in all we had a very pleasant visit. Reservation over the phone went smoothly. We got there and got the tables that we had requested for. We were able to sit outside and enjoy the pleasant day. The food was good. They offer a host of German specialties. The food presentation was also very well done. The order came with a side salad. The dressing was very good and I liked the fact that it had enough dressing on it. Other restaurants salads are quite dry. The service personnel were very friendly and helpful. There is also plenty of paid parking within walking distance from the restaurant. Unfortunately, I was told that they do not offer “food to go.” So I just ordered a regular meal and asked for a box and boxed it myself. Basically, that was my food to go. I don’t understand why they cannot offer it. I also had a bit of leftovers from the meal I consumed, and it was strange that I was also charged for that box. I’ve never been charged for the packaging in a Restaurant.
Jamie — Google review
From the moment we walked in till we left, everything was great. Staff is very friendly. Our waiter was knowledgeable about different wines we could pair with our food.. This restaurant is on the higher end but totally worth it. Food was delicious from the appetizers to the main course and dessert. This place is so much better than the one downtown. Definitely check it out and see for yourself.
Eleanor L — Google review
We’ve eaten here twice and really enjoyed the food. The menu has a lot of options and the prices are reasonable for the amount of food you get. The food took a long time to arrive, but it was good. Definitely try the fried potatoes— they are so delish!!! My only complaint is that they don’t do take away orders. We wanted to order a meal to go but they said they don’t carry take out containers and that next time we need to bring our own container. Which I thought was very strange.
Tela R — Google review
Good place for German restaurant style food. Everything was tasty and the service was good as well. We had the Jaegerschnitzel, Salmon and salad and the large salad with fried 'Hirtenkaese' a type of soft cheese that is often BBQ or pann fried. The view of the surrounding park and fountain are also nice 👌.
Sub-Zero H — Google review
I was there on Tuesday. There were only 3 servers but they did a really great job to keep everything under control. They tried to serve everyone in a timely manner but the kitchen was noisy and annoying. I felt bad for the servers because there were only a few of them and it looked like they were being rushed because I could hear the loud ringing constantly from the kitchen. With only 3 people serving, they should be more patient with them. Good service overall though.
Dean A — Google review
I enjoyed this place, the inside was nice, the outside with the fountain was nice. The menu is small, but the items that they serve was very good and if you are like me less is more lol it takes me forever to choose. The service was also great.
Shrandy D — Google review
This place is great, the food is high quality and low price, and the beer is excellent. I only have one complaint, it's really weird and unclear how they manage the restaurant. They are completely booked for reservations, but the restaurant is literally 60 percent empty. Tables and tables of empty chairs but if you ask them to reserve, they'll say they don't have any space. It seems like they define "fully booked" as "less than half full".

Zoos & Aquariums
Nestled in the heart of Kaiserslautern, Zoo Kaiserslautern is a delightful destination for animal lovers and families alike. Spanning 17 acres, this charming zoo is home to around 115 species, including majestic tigers and playful goats in its petting area. Visitors can explore diverse habitats like savannas and tropical houses while enjoying the serene lake that enhances the natural ambiance. Accessibility is a breeze whether you arrive by public transport or car.
Great outdoors experience for families. I recommend sunny day when animals are out and enjoying the weather. Perfect for a walk! Birds singing everywhere. Little playground in the middle of the zoo for small kids.
Agnieszka H — Google review
Fantastic cozy little zoo with multiple "walk inside the habitat" zones. Lots of fun animal interactions!
Anna G — Google review
This is not like a full-on zoo with Lions, gorillas, and so on. This Zoo is an interaction Zoo. We were able to sit and pet the camels, lemurs, ducks, and goats. Perfect pastime, great for small children, and loved the burger and fries.
Christina T — Google review
Great zoo to take your kids or to walk around and relax. Good variety of animals well kept. Well price. See photos for details.
Brandan G — Google review
Cool zoo where it seems like all the animals were active vs hiding in their little houses like other zoos, it’s fairly small tho, can walk around and see everything in about 30min-1hr
David V — Google review
Not the biggest zoo but had a good variety of animals and had mostly unobstructed views. Animals seemed happy and well taken care of. Of the exhibits, the playground was the biggest hit. Probably not enough to do for a whole day but definitely a great way to spend an afternoon.
Devin E — Google review
This is an good zoo with plenty of animals to see. It was fantastic to get up close to so many small animals including. Don’t have biggest animals lions, tigers and elephants. Well laid out with the little playground. Most suitable for kids. We didn't catch many of the events but that didn't soil the day, but the dolphin show was amazing and good fun. Food is available throughout the attraction (although good restaurant were shut on our visit). Good day out for the kids with family and reasonably priced.
Anton — Google review
This is not the San Diego or Dallas Zoo. It's a small zoo in Kaiserslautern. But, if you have a little time and want to entertain the kids, this is a really cool little zoo with plenty to see and do. The play area is very nice as well, not to mention the food is very good and the prices are certainly very reasonable. I mean, the food is not exactly on a Michelin Star level, but it is pretty amazing for a small zoo. But where in Germany, really, do they serve bad food? In all, this was a very enjoyable experience.

Park
Wildpark Kaiserslautern was established by the Forestry Office in 1970 to allow locals and visitors to observe game species that are native to the area or were once found there. The park, located in the forest department "Alter Schlag," offers shaded trails and scenic viewpoints for a delightful stroll through nature.
It is really a nice place if you want to spend time in the nature. There are animals like cows pigs rabbits deers you can feed them. It’s really nice place. You can take the bus 102 from Kaiserslautern and go there.
Cafer Y — Google review
Beautiful trails surrounded by animals. Quite a large animal refuge. There is a food dispenser on site if you’d like to feed the animals.
Lauren S — Google review
Wonderful place, lots of trails. Stunning nature and very quiet. There are beautiful animals that come to be petted. You can buy animal food for one euro (the machine didn't work when we were there). The place is completely accessible, you can come with a baby stroller. Lots of tables and benches scattered around.
Irina K — Google review
First time seen Luchs!! But isnt that too small for them 🥹
Aiva M — Google review
It’s one of my favorite places in Kaiserslautern. I always come here when in town.
Ken B — Google review
Half the parking lot is fenced off, so there are only 8 to 10 spots available, and they were all filled. The closest parking is by permit only, and unpermitted vehicles had tickets. There is public parking well down the street. The signage within the park is sporadic and a little difficult to navigate, so taking a picture of it is a good idea. All the wild cats and lynxes were unfortunately off exhibit, but the rest could all be seen. It's a lot of walking on gravel and mud with some steep sections, but lots of shade to walk in. The exhibits are very spacious for the animals and many were very friendly and eager to be fed (some are not allowed to be fed flour products and some not at all). Picnic tables and trash receptacles at some intersections. If you go off the main trails to find the castle, check for ticks afterwards as two members of our party found them on their legs. Great free way to spend an afternoon!
Amanda A — Google review
I been here couple of times in April. Very nice park, you get to see some wild animals. I saw lot of deer's , buffalo's, wild pigs, wild cats, bison's. Its a child and dog friendly park. Highly recommend for a calm and short hikers.

We have tried to book this park for our school group trip. The kids and parents were already informed and we were all looking forward to this trip. After a call to cofirm date and time (previous calls have already happened), the worker said basically that we are not welcome aynmore. Unfortunately we were only 25 kids, instead of 30 so we would not get a discount of 1 Euro per child. I have asked if it would be still managable to get the 1 Euro discount and therefore not get the 2 free entries. The worker then told me I am too demanding and should stay away with our group. He also said he has the luxury to deny people entry, because he does not need our money. I have NEVER experienced such a bad, unprofessional customer service. I would give no stars if possible. This trip inbolved 5 graders trying to have a good time. I wanted to even cover the 1 Euro per kid for the parents but no, we were told to find something else. Never again this park. We have booked Fun Park in KL instead and received the best customer service there.

Such a shame I can't give this place more than a 5 star rating. I have been here a few times, and every time was amazing. Me and the people I went with all had a lot of fun. Finding the park was easy, seeing how there were signs everywhere showing you where to go. The staff were very friendly and were always ready to help or answer questions. Their explanations were easy to follow and understand. At no point did I ever feel unsafe or as if I was in any danger of falling or getting hurt. You can buy food and drinks there too. The restrooms were easy to find and very clean. I have no complaints about anything. I highly recommend going here. 10/10, I'm definitely coming back here again.

Nestled in the picturesque Hammerbachtal, Vogelwoog is a charming reservoir located just west of Kaiserslautern. This serene spot is part of the Vogelwoog-Schmalzwoog nature reserve and stands out as one of the last remnants of a medieval pond system, alongside Blechhammerweiher. Perfect for families, it offers flat gravel paths ideal for little ones to explore on foot or by stroller.
This is a sweet little pond that is just the perfect size for small kids to walk around. I came here on a warm July weekday afternoon with my three kids ages 6, 4, and 2. We parked at Parkplatz Vogelwoog, which is about a 5 minute walk to the Kunst Cafe and Spielplatz, and the "apex" of the pond. I did bring my double BOB stroller and it was fine on these flat gravel paths, but the kids mostly preferred to walk. We walked around the pond first before going to the playground, stopping to enjoy the views and ducks and occasional beachy area. The area was largely shaded. I don't recall there being any picnic benches; we ate our snack on a rock on one of the beaches and then again at the playground. I do believe there are benches scattered around the trail. We overall spent about 1.5-2 hours here including snacktime and playtime. I would guess the path is about a kilometer around, though there are many more paths stemming from it if you're in for more of a walk (but we didn't take others). A beautifully peaceful place; you'd never know you were moments away from downtown Kaiserslautern.

Nature preserve
Nestled atop the Kaiserberg, or Emperor Hill, lies a serene escape from the bustling garden show in Kaiserslautern. Visitors can choose to ascend via a set of stairs or take a gentle sloped trail suitable for strollers. The hill offers picturesque meadows and cozy garden loungers where you can unwind amidst nature's beauty. On Sundays, the enchanting Willow Church hosts services, adding to the tranquil atmosphere. For those feeling peckish, refreshments are available at Waldhaus nearby.
A perfect way to finish your visit to the Gartenschau!

Services are held on Sundays in the Willow Church up there and the Waldhaus provides refreshments. I like walking up the Kaiserberg, it is not as loud there as at the garden show. Dogs are not allowed up there and the entrance fee is €7.00 per person, but you can also walk down the mountain to the garden show. It's worth noting that this toilet has specific opening hours, which might come as a surprise to some visitors.

Volkspark Kaiserslautern, also known as the Exhibition Park, originated from the Palatinate Craft Show in 1925. Although it was called Exhibition before, it now stands as one of the finest public parks in Kaiserslautern and is among the largest in the city. The park offers ample space for various activities and features a children's play area, ping pong tables, and a small football court.
Big and beautyfull park, love the lake with its ducks and swans. Also, nice place where you can have a picnic, let the children play or just take a refreshing walk.
Andreea M — Google review
Fantastic park with a pond and plenty for sitting areas to enjoy a nice day out. Ideal for kids and hang out and play. Enjoy a nice stroll around the park or a picnic in this beautiful space.

Best public park around in Kaiserslautern. It is also one of the biggest in the city. Lots of area to do all the activities you want to do. There’s children’s play area , ping pong tables and a small football court. A big pond is also there with ducks , goose and swans. It’s so colorful during spring and summer. We go there at least 3-4 times a month. Until 5pm there is a cafe open just opposite to the park which serves good cakes and coffee.

Beautifull place. Lake, Open ground for summers, shaded places, fountains, places ( many ) for kids to play, big trees to sit under on hot summer afternoon and relax or to have a picnic, or you want a walk in the evening it's a beautiful place and most important a place to play football! Toll!!!

Nice city park. Has a little pond and hosts some nice festivals throughout the year such as the wine in the park festival in Spring.

Wonderful place. Lots of open place to enjoy warm weather. Lots of big trees as well for shade. Play area for kids. A small pond. A perfect place to spend with friends
Deepak S — Google review
Not the cleanest or most well-kept Park, but it's nice and big and has some playground equipment for both young and older kids, making it a hit for those of all ages. The duck pond and walking paths are a great bonus

Wildpark Kaiserslautern is a vast area just a few minutes' drive from the city. It features around 12 species of animals and offers free entrance. The paths are not paved, so bringing a baby stroller is possible but may be challenging. Visitors can enjoy observing various animals and even pet some of them. The park also has feeding times for the animals, which visitors can plan their visit around to witness.
It is really a nice place if you want to spend time in the nature. There are animals like cows pigs rabbits deers you can feed them. It’s really nice place. You can take the bus 102 from Kaiserslautern and go there.

Wonderful place, lots of trails. Stunning nature and very quiet. There are beautiful animals that come to be petted. You can buy animal food for one euro (the machine didn't work when we were there). The place is completely accessible, you can come with a baby stroller. Lots of tables and benches scattered around.

First time seen Luchs!! But isnt that too small for them 🥹
Aiva M — Google review

I been here couple of times in April. Very nice park, you get to see some wild animals. I saw lot of deer's , buffalo's, wild pigs, wild cats, bison's. Its a child and dog friendly park. Highly recommend for a calm and short hikers.
Gowthami R — Google review
Beautiful outdoor space that is well maintained. We saw many of the animals and my kids found the signs informative.
Mary G — Google review
Really fun place to visit and is open with the current lockdown restrictions. Only a 10 minute hike to get here and had a blast! Perfect place to take kids or just to get out and take a quick hike.
Nick G — Google review
Great place to get away from the city and enjoy nature. Definitely worth more than just one trip there. Just be respectful and pick your trash up after you.
