Science museum
Museums
The Museum of Science, located in Boston's West End, is a renowned institution featuring interactive exhibits, an IMAX/3-D film theater, and a planetarium. With over 700 exhibits and home to an accredited zoo with over 100 animals, the museum offers educational experiences for children from third grade and up.
The Tesla coils light show was really fun and informative and they have showings throughout the day. It "sparked" a new interest in science for me. Warning: turn your volume down before you watch the Tesla coil videos I attached. 😂 Amazing views of the Charles River. I liked looking at the AI dog. A good portion of the museum is very kid-focused but the paintings and animal/natural history sculptures are fun for all ages. I also liked some information about blood pressure as well as how many calories I need to walk a mile. It was a fun visit!

Fabulous time for families! Purchase tickets in advance, planetarium is a must! This is a classic spot that makes for a quintessential childhood summer day, the duck boats are a fun addition. I recommend for 8+ or the duck boat tour aspect might not be the best (6 year old was bored). I am so glad they have maintained a great museum that feels nostalgic and growing with the times.

WOW! Neat place! Good Selection of Gem and Mineral Specimens from around New England. Space/ Moon Landing Exibits. Lots of Model Ships. Impressive Displays on Dinosaurs🦕 and Fossils. Big on Robots 🤖 and AI from MIT. Charles River Info(They Love That Dirty Water!) Duck Tours start there. Handicapped Accessible. Very Modern Restrooms. Discounts for Veterans and EBT Card Holders and Seniors

I photographed a wedding at the Museum of Science, and it was one of the most unique and memorable venues I’ve ever worked at. The ceremony took place in the Theater of Electricity — an incredible, immersive space that created such a dramatic and unforgettable atmosphere for the couple’s vows. Afterward, the reception was held under a tent along the Charles River, offering beautiful views and a perfect blend of city skyline and waterfront charm. The flow between locations was seamless, and the museum’s staff was organized, welcoming, and great to work with throughout the entire day. From a photography standpoint, the Museum of Science offers a truly one-of-a-kind experience. If you’re looking for a wedding venue that feels distinctive, fun, and full of character, this is an amazing choice. I loved photographing here. — Brett Crawford Photography

Had alot of fun learning about all types of things. Definitely check out the electricity show, that was awesome. We saw a show at the planetarium, very cool. The food court fish and chips was not great. The burger was pretty good though.

Have been to the Museum of Science so many times over the years, both as a teenager myself, and later with my very young children, then my children as teenagers, and then as an adult. It is very well laid-out. And it has something for absolutely every age group. One thing that I wish they would have more of is the traveling exhibits. I saw an exhibit on Leonardo da Vinci here that was exquisite! My other favorite exhibit was Pixar. And they had the traveling body exhibit. But, the last several times I have visited the museum, they did not have any special exhibits. And while I enjoy going to the museum, it becomes a little routine after a while if there is not some sort of special visiting exhibit. So please try to make those something that is consistently on rotation. Also, the last time we were there, they were going through renovations and so some exhibits were inaccessible. If they are going to be going through renovations, I think that they should give some sort of a discounted Admission until the renovations are complete. oh, tip for visitors, do not miss the electrical show with the Tesla coils. It’s delightful.

Great experience for a family with a toddler. Lots of fun things to look at and manipulate. The workers at the live demonstration and showing off skulls in the river area were great with a little kid - but there's a ton of stuff at the adult level too. Enjoyed it twice in the last year with more we haven't even seen! I would say that the cafeteria is decently priced compared to other local museums/attractions. Delicious falafel burger!

An interesting place to visit! You can spend plenty of time here with the whole family exploring the main hall and museum. Keep in mind that presentations require a separate fee, but the exhibitions themselves are excellent. Plus, the location offers a beautiful view of the sea.

Museums
Nestled in the vibrant city of Cambridge, The Harvard Museum of Natural History is a treasure trove for nature enthusiasts and curious minds alike. This captivating museum showcases an extensive array of natural science collections, featuring everything from stunning animal specimens to fascinating minerals. One of its most iconic attractions is the Blaschka Glass Flowers—an extraordinary collection that includes over 4,000 intricately crafted glass models representing more than 830 plant species. But that's just the beginning!
The Harvard Museum of Natural History is a true hidden gem in Cambridge! I was incredibly impressed by the variety and depth of the exhibits — from the stunning Glass Flowers collection to the fascinating displays of minerals, fossils, and wildlife from around the world. The museum is very well organized, and the information is both engaging and easy to understand. It’s a perfect destination for all ages — whether you’re a science enthusiast, a curious student, or just looking for an educational and inspiring outing. The staff were also friendly and helpful throughout my visit. Highly recommend spending a few hours here — you’ll leave with a greater appreciation for the natural world!

A great place full of amazing items, and one of a kind finds. From the iconic dinosaur bones to the impressive room of gemstones and educational displays it was fun for the whole family. When we went there wasn't many people working and it took a while to find a map. Sometimes it was easy to get turned around. And some of the more popular displays lead to a bottle neck of sorts. Definitely worth checking out. Parking was hard to find, but that's to be expected. We will be back again!

Great experience! Shout out to the staff for delivering on positivity! Love this building and its exquisite architecture. Beautifully curated collections. My teenage granddaughter truly enjoyed visiting. The exhibition on climate change is a must see! Especially pleased with the many areas provided for sitting and taking a short pause. Looking forward to our next visit.
Lourdes Z — Google review
A must see museum if your into anything natural and earthy. Each section was well defined and clear making touring very easy. Additionally the coat hangers and lockers for guests who did not want to carry items was a nice touch. I particularly enjoyed the gemstone and crystal section of the museum, but also enjoyed the dinosaur display! The museum features a lot of animals and if you struggle to breath in dustier spaces than the mammal display may not be the most suiting spot, but still a sight to behold.

I went to see mostly Blaschka glass flower collection, and if you never seen glass flowers and plants photos included might change your mind to come and visit. The rest of the museum is equally incredible, and $15 is very accessible. The geology collection is extraordinary as well.
Ackermann Y — Google review
The glass flower collection has been on my favorites list. It's just amazing how it was done for each piece. With their wonderful curator, everything becomes lively! And the mineral and Jem stones collection just opened my eyes. They are even better than the Smithsonian's collections.

Very nice museum. Lots of great exhibits and very reasonably priced if you are looking to do something fun and educational as a couple or with the family. Saw lots of mom and dads with the kiddies having fun. The animal exhibit is always my fav.
Taste B — Google review
I had heard of the famous glass flowers before but seeing the Blaschka glass flower collection in person here was lifechanging. I genuinely believe that they have changed the trajectory of my artistic practice. The quick pictures I took couldn't even begin to do the models justice, what a joy the whole experience was. The gem and mineral collection was also superb!

Planetarium
The Charles Hayden Planetarium, located at the Boston Museum of Science, has undergone a $9 million renovation to offer an immersive experience for visitors of all ages. With state-of-the-art projectors, movable seats, and a top-notch sound system, the planetarium presents full-dome films, night sky explorations, and engaging presentations on various earth and space science topics.
What an amazing experience at the planetarium. There is so much to see here. The price for a show is very affordable as well. Can't wait to go back.

Whenever I'm in the Boston area I make it a point to go to this museum. It is always a delight. Very educational and the staff are so accommodating and helpful I'm going again in 2025 on the 4th of July.

The planetarium was a wonderful experience! The shows were so magical and informative! Quick seating and wonderful narration made it an enjoyable experience overall!
Tejas S — Google review
I've been to this plantarium for a few shows and it is pretty good. The seats inside recline and are nice & comfortable. Their special music series with a light and visual show on the dome was great. I saw the Coldplay experience this weekend and it was more than I was expecting. The visuals were very well themed, from solar system exploration to wormholes, blended with some of their greatest hits. They have a few different shows playing with different genres of music and they will be starting new ones soon. Tip: There are lots of flashing lights and moving visuals that make you feel as if you are flying. If this bothers you, I wouldn't recommend it.
Kyle L — Google review
I saw the Radiohead Musical Experience here and it was amazing! The sound and visuals were amazing and it really was worth the $10 admission. Seats were comfortable and the whole experience was really memorable and totally recommended. We'll be keeping an eye on the schedule for the musical "experiences", for sure. Update: Returned for the Radiohead Experience again which was just slightly changed but still great. We also saw the Pink Floyd The Wall show and it was incredible and also highly recommended.
Alex C — Google review
Really cool experience altogether, being inside the Boston Science museum. The star/galaxy displays are really neat and well explained. Makes you feel a bit small and less important when seen in these perspectives. The show was educational and eye opening. The audience participation was fun and made it more interesting. The visuals of this presentation do a great job for what we are capable of and can only get better with more exploration/interest.
Adam N — Google review
We saw the Laser Floyd show on a Saturday night and it was so cool! They played the whole Dark Side of the Moon album and then did Comfortably Numb as an encore. The place was almost completely full for a 9:30 show, which surprised me, but that just shows how good it is!

Technology museum
The MIT Museum in Boston, Massachusetts is a haven for science and technology enthusiasts. The museum showcases a wide array of exhibits including kinetic sculptures, robots, holograms, and interactive installations that aim to bridge the gap between theory and practice. Recently relocated to a new purpose-built space at the heart of MIT's Kendall Square campus, the museum boasts 56,000 square feet of engaging galleries spread across three floors.
I had a fantastic visit to the MIT Museum! It’s such a cool place, blending science, technology, and art in a way that’s both mind-blowing and accessible. The interactive exhibits were a lot of fun, like the AI section where you can spot real versus fake videos or even compose a poem with a computer. The museum’s new space in Kendall Square has a modern, open layout that makes exploring really enjoyable. I also appreciated the historical artifacts, like the Apollo Guidance Computer, which show off MIT’s groundbreaking contributions. I do wish they’d had a free pass for us Harvard fellows too, but it was still well worth the visit! It’s an inspiring spot for anyone curious about innovation, and I’d definitely recommend checking it out!
George C — Google review
Great museum with an accurate selection of pieces showing to the public MIT’s contribution. The collection shows different periods advancements from early XX century technologies to contemporary robots allowing visitors to interact.
Lucy A — Google review
An amazing experience! The MIT Museum offers a perfect mix of science, technology, and creativity. I loved the interactive exhibits and the fascinating stories behind the innovations. Great for anyone curious about how ideas shape our world. Definitely worth visiting.
Mani G — Google review
Amazing science and technology museum! Will definitely inspire you to do high quality research in your area. You can easily spend 2-3 h here. Lot of good information to read if you're interested. Engineering students and graduate students might really enjoy the exhibits. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.
Shaik A — Google review
The MIT Museum felt like a museum made up of the work of graduate students and recent MIT graduates, including work relating to the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, and Biology. This was alongside interactive installations and some rare, vintage items. There were also more artistic installations, so overall it was quite varied in its offerings. I would say it did not blow me away completely, though I did enjoy several parts of it. It was also a bit small to my liking, just two floors and one of the floors (the 3rd) was around half. Worth a visit nonetheless and it gets you in the MIT engineering and hacking culture but also the wonder of biological discovery and CRISPR.
Raúl F — Google review
Is it terrible of me to say that I miss some of the older exhibits and enjoyed the museum more prior to the renovation? I know that sounds awful! But the small nature of the other museum and some of the exhibits, such as the kinetic machines, were really attractive and fun, and this one seems as if it is somehow more sterile. It also seemed as if the older museum really catered more for inquisitive adults, and this museum had children running all over the place! There are so many museums and exhibits in the city that really cater to children, that it would be wonderful to have a museum that is more suitable for adults. I have children; they are older now, and I’m not anti-children, but the older museum felt more adult – focused. This one also felt like it was singing the praises of MIT more, which is great, that’s why we’re there, but I would love to know what the researchers are up to, without having an interactive exhibit that asked me what I like most about MIT. I really don’t know what I like most about MIT, because I don’t attend MIT. And the exhibit asked me for adjectives to describe MIT. I think that feels more like an assignment for the students and professors, and perhaps that’s the point of this new museum? Perhaps it’s supposed to be a hub for MIT students and professors and also…visitors. Regardless, bring back more exhibits that are interactive/movement based. Again, I’m returning to the kinetic exhibit, but have things that we can really watch and engage in, rather than looking at an object and having the explanation next to it on the wall. Yes, there were a few things to engage in, especially with the AI section, but we can write a collaborative poem with AI at home. I’m wondering how they could make things more interactive and also capture the attention of the adults. I was there with my 22-year-old son, who is a stem guy and is majoring in stem in college, and he just didn’t seem to feel it had a lot to offer either. Also, the last time I was there, I went by the gift shop and bought some periodic table of the elements bags and mugs etc. Now my daughter is a chemist at the Mayo Clinic, I was so excited to run in the gift shop and grab a bunch of chemistry items, and the gift shop instead had lots of kids toys in it. It was fairly disappointing. I would love it to be more Stem related and less about the dehydrated ice cream that you can get when you visit the Smithsonian Museums in DC. Not really even MIT related. Just stuff you’d find in any children’s tech museum gift shop. I did manage to find a chemistry-related glass and a game of chemistry flux. Also, I would’ve loved to have seen some more of their robotics. They have some on display at the museum of science, why could we not watch some of them on display here? Overall, an underwhelming experience. Would hope for more adult and interactive and challenging exhibits in the future, and let’s tilt the gift shop to be things that would be less children- focused as well. This isn’t really a children’s museum, is it? Or perhaps I’m missing the point, and it is supposed to be now.
Lockie H — Google review
If you are a MIT student I highly recommend that you visit the Museum at some point. It is highly unqiue and provides a gateway into the MIT way (P.S its free for students!). If you are visiting the area the MIT Museum offers great exhibits that are both timeless and unique to the current state of the world/technology. Great for kids and families!

Science Park/West End is a captivating area in Boston, Massachusetts that offers an array of attractions for families and science enthusiasts. The Boston Museum of Science stands out as a top-notch destination with three floors filled with interactive and educational exhibits covering various aspects of science, from the Earth to the sky. Visitors can explore the vast history of science in a well-narrated setting.
Nice station, very functional, nice it's also accessible

Yay Science Park/West End Station! Above ground Green Line station. I like the building you go in through and it’s pretty clean. Honestly pretty solid have no real complaints here. 7/10
Aria S — Google review
Much like its "sister" station a little ways farther down Storrow Drive and the bike path, Charles/MGH Station, Science Park/West End Station suffers from a rebuild that got rid of its former direct bridged walkway to the other side of the road, avoiding the busy traffic below. This is, of course, dating myself, and going back a few decades. For anybody, let alone a family with small children, who *dares* to actually use public transit to go to/from the Museum said bridged walkway would be helpful rather than have to do a double crossing, contending with the rabid Ma$$holes coming from/going to Storrow Drive. EDIT on frequencies: with the GLX construction FINALLY completed, the re-extension of the D Line and restoration of E Line service has seen DECENT frequencies return to this station.
J. I — Google review
7-16-25 Convenient to the Museum of Science and a start for the Duck Tour at the museum. This is the Green line only so you will have to connect to other lines elsewhere. The station is small but serves its function. Not much by way of eateries or other amenities. Simple.
Rick N — Google review
This station is a gorgeous view. The reason I’m giving it 2 stars is the MBTA’s lack of care and respect for basic life safety and accessibility features at this station. Fire alarm pull stations are not weatherproof and have no cases and the labels of the levers are wearing off. So is the pull handle braille. Standpipes are rusty and have no lights for night time and have paint peeling off them and are exposed to the weather. How often are these tested? Huh? Fire alarm sound and strobe devices also have no weatherproof case. You cannot see the strobe in the sun which is not fair to people who cannot hear. Call boxes are exposed to the temperature. PA speakers exposed to the weather. Every time I go by this station on the green line. I see this.

The Charles River Basin is a picturesque area located just across the river from Boston. It offers stunning views of the river and is home to the new Broadsheet Coffee Roasters, a charming cafe worth visiting. The basin is steeped in history and provides a vibrant atmosphere that makes for a memorable experience.
Great river Charles! Wonderful waters in the heart of a vibrant Boston! Lots of history also! Worth the experience!
Henrique B — Google review
As a Bostonian, I have a love-hate relationship with this iconic waterway. On the one hand, it's a beautiful spot to jog, bike, or take a stroll. On the other hand, it's been known to smell a bit like, well, dirty water. Let's start with the positives. The Charles River Basin is a great place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. It's a peaceful oasis that offers stunning views of the Boston skyline. And if you're lucky, you might catch a glimpse of one of the famous duck boats that tour the river. But let's be real, the real highlight of the Charles River Basin is the Smoots. For those who don't know, a "Smoot" is a unit of measurement that was created by a group of MIT students back in the 1950s. They used their friend Oliver Smoot as a measuring stick to mark the distance of the Harvard Bridge, which spans the Charles River. And to this day, you can still see the marks on the bridge that indicate how many Smoots long it is. I give the Charles River Basin three stars. It's a lovely spot to spend an afternoon, but you might want to hold your breath if the wind is blowing the wrong way. And if you see any MIT students with a measuring tape, be sure to ask them how many Smoots wide the river is.

Aquarium
Zoos & Aquariums
The New England Aquarium is a must-visit waterfront attraction featuring a giant glass tank surrounded by a multilevel walkway. Visitors can enjoy stunning views of iconic landmarks such as Old North Church, Custom House Tower, and Independence Wharf. Additionally, the aquarium offers the Northern Lights yacht Boston experience with options to sit inside the cabin or on deck while enjoying drinks and snacks. The location is easily accessible by bus, subway, or train.
A great aquarium! Clean and organized. I enjoyed that the exhibits we're put around the center tank so when you're walking around the tank you go up or down while seeing the other tanks. Easy for kids to navigate and see into each tank/exhibit. Afterwards you can still go out and explore Boston within walking distance.

This place is amazing! Took an Uber from a cruise port as its less than 10 minutes away. Spent a good 2 hours walking through the 4 floors of exhibits ranging from seals, stingrays, clown fish, sharks, turtles, jelly fish and an anaconda. Extremely clean. We are from out of town but brought an annual membership. Well worth it even if you go just once. Trying to go again soon!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Magical Day at the New England Aquarium! I absolutely loved my visit to the Boston Aquarium! From the moment I walked in, I was surrounded by incredible marine life and beautifully designed exhibits that made me feel like I was stepping into an underwater world. The highlight of my day was definitely the sea turtle — such a magnificent and graceful creature. Watching it glide effortlessly through the water was truly mesmerizing and peaceful. Another favorite was the seahorse exhibit. I could have stood there for hours watching those delicate, whimsical creatures sway and twist around the coral. They’re so tiny, yet so full of personality! The entire aquarium is thoughtfully laid out, making it easy to explore while learning so much about ocean conservation and the importance of protecting marine habitats. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about the animals they care for. I also appreciated how clean and well-maintained everything was, from the tanks to the viewing areas. Whether you’re visiting Boston for the first time or you’re a local looking for something special, the New England Aquarium is a must-see destination. I can’t wait to go back again soon!
Kory B — Google review
So I will preface this review by saying I have been to over a hundred zoos and awuariums over the last 6 years. This aquarium is pretty decent. A good variety of different fish, and overall they do have as good a layout as they can with the space they have. Pros: Variety Bright colored exhibits Good signage about animals Cons: Price for size Very tight space inside Bad signage on where to go next Again, I liked this aquarium, but for $40+ bucks I would like to have not been shoulder to shoulder with everyone else there. I also feel like the "Sharks" exhibit is a joke, and some of the exhibits talk big, but then fail to deliver.
David P — Google review
This aquarium was really awesome. The turtle was super active and we happened to come during feeding time. The octopus was also active during our visit. But arguably one of the coolest things was the shark eggs that were back lit. You can see the embryo moving within the egg. Overall it was a great aquarium experience and I would recommend.

My fiance and I LOVED the New England Aquarium!! No kids yet, but cannot wait to bring the little one here soon! Such an amazing layout and awesome exhibits. The stingrays are so cute and friendly, the penguins, seals, and sea lions were sooooo much fun to sit and watch. It was a little crowded but not too bad for a saturday! We will definitely be back!!
Kat ( — Google review
For the $40 for the amount of space for museum, probably not worth it. We had tickets from corporate otherwise I would have been disappointed with price for place. The shark exhibit…. Is it really one? Not much. Was able to catch the feedings for sea lions and penguins so that was good. More could be made into something or have more interactive things. The explore spot for little ones had barely anything there for kids to play with. But it gave us a good spot to sit and have a snack

No matter the age anyone can enjoy this place! I Spent Colombus day here with my hunny and out 17 year old daughter. We were there about a hour and a half. A lot of people but not uncomfortable. There’s a lot of variety with fishes and diff kind of frogs, sharks, turtles ect. We even got to see staff going into one of the big tanks and feed some of the animals. My family had a great time and all the staff were friendly. Always love coming here☺️

Visual scale especially appropriate for nature and science themed content. Great for children, science-lovers and the type of cinephile for blockbuster releases. Seating is steep. Worth a visit for sure.

7-16-25 Tickets are reduced if you take a Duck Tour to $6 per adult. I saw Space: The New Frontier here at the Omni. Recommend sitting as close to the middle as possible. The theater is huge and you will have to move your head around to see everything. Also, I can see why some people may have some viewing issues and may have to look away at times. It can also be hard to focus. The sound is fantastic however and noticeably different from a regular theater.

The USS Constitution, also known as Old Ironsides, is a historic American naval vessel and the world's oldest commissioned naval ship still in existence. Launched in 1797 and named by George Washington, it offers visitors a unique glimpse into naval history. The USS Constitution Museum provides an unparalleled opportunity to learn about this living piece of maritime history. Open on Fridays through Sundays, visitors can explore this legendary frigate and gain insight into its storied past.
What a piece of living history! This was one of the coolest experiences I have ever had. To walk the deck and the lower levels of such an amazing piece of our countries history. To stand where some of our most fearless military members have stood. To be in the hull of history. If you are in the area, do yourself a favor and come experience this one! The stories these beams and planks hold..
Chad W — Google review
Another great stop along the freedom trail. Got there in time before the visitors center closed. Didn't quite get the tour info for entering the ship but joined on with 2 tours as we walked through. Lots of info about the ships and great historical anecdotes. A very cool visit for any history buff.
Jonathan W — Google review
Check before you go! This is an active vessel. Make sure she is pier side before you go. If she isn't they are typically only gone for the day, get a picture of the US Navy's Oldest commissioned warship underway! Highly recommend a tour of the ship, and a visit to the interactive museum. Also on site is a WW2 destroyer, go walk the deck, enjoy a guided tour... When done here head up to Bunker hill (see in photos) it is a nice walk from the Constitution with a commanding view of the city and area. On the way down, stop for lunch... Mornings at opening are better to visit the Constitution IMO, the crowds are lighter and you can be there at rope drop for opening...

Really interesting history and the seaman that gave us the free tour did his best. He was a very new guide and managed to answer most questions. Taking the guided tour we were able to access the lower decks. The war ship just docked up on the other side was well worth a free visit as well. Nice way to spend an ~ hour in Boston.

Absolutely awesome tour! If you are a history buff, as I am, you can't beat visiting "Old Ironsides" when you visit Boston. There was free admission to the visitor center and to two ships when we visited....the USS Constitution and the USS Cassin Young, a ship from World War Two. There are great exhibits in the museum which admission is paid by donation. It is located walking distance from the Battle of Bunker Hill Monument. Definitely worth a visit!

Known as “Old Ironsides” this frigate is the oldest commissioned ship in the world and saw extensive action during the War of 1812. Located in the Charleston Navy Yard in Boston, it is the “Ship of State” for the US Navy. Entry is free and the tours are given by current US Navy personnel. Our guide was a seaman (fireman) and was very knowledgeable about the ship and its history. There is also a free museum. Very highly recommend this historic ship.
Mike Z — Google review
Definitely worth a trip. The Constitution is relatively small/ narrow compared to cruise ships. The museum gift shop is fascinating. The hardest part is driving there from the Tobin Bridge! Use phone navigation! Afterwards walk to Bunker Hill and have lunch at the oldest tavern in the area.
George C — Google review
Another very interesting site (Bunker Hill is a definite). The USS Constitution requires identification to enter so we had to show our Driver’s Licenses, our kids were fine to enter with us. The ship was very impressive, their larger ropes, pulleys, and various levels were interesting. Lots to explore, no tickets needed, a Must See.

Located in Boston, Massachusetts, the USS Cassin Young is a well-preserved World War II destroyer that offers self-guided tours to visitors. This Fletcher-class ship was built in 1943 and served in the Pacific theater during the war, earning seven battle stars and surviving two Kamikaze hits. Named after Captain Cassin Young, who received the Medal of Honor, this historic vessel provides an insightful look into its wartime experiences.
It is fascinating that you can take a really close look at this majestic ship. What is even better is, that it is totally free. It's really worth it. I visited it as a part of Boston's Freedom trail.

We hab the chance to see the USS Cassin Young, a proud Fletcher-class destroyer moored at the Charlestown Navy Yard. Her sharp lines, radar mast, and deck guns still speak of the Pacific battles she once fought. Commissioned in 1943, she survived two kamikaze attacks at Okinawa and went on to serve long into the Cold War. Standing on the pier, you feel the power and resilience built into these lean, fast warships. Today she is preserved as a museum ship—a fitting companion to the USS Constitution across the dock, together telling the story of America’s naval heritage from sail to steel. Enjoy your stay here and have a fantastic time! 👋

This is a Fletcher-class destroyer, one of the most successful and numerous classes of destroyers built by the U.S. Navy during WWII… The ship is named for Captain Cassin Young, who was awarded the Medal of Honor for his heroism during the attack on Pearl Harbor and later killed in the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal in 1942. The Cassin Young is particularly known for surviving two separate Kamikaze attacks while on radar picket duty off Okinawa in 1945. The second attack, which killed 22 crew members and wounded 45, led to her having to clear the area for repairs.
Geovanny — Google review
The Cassin Young is a great ship to visit right next to the USS Constitution. After touring the Constitution, I joined a free walk-in tour of the Cassin Young, which was amazing. While some parts of the ship are open to the public, The ship is very interesting, and although there were several visitors, there were no lines or waiting. The deck offers fantastic views of the water, docks, and boats. I wish we could have seen the areas above and below the main deck, but they were roped off.
R S — Google review
Awesome experience! This ship is well kept and offers great historical background on board. One of the better activities in our trip to Boston. Admission to the boat is free.
Keaton P — Google review
The ship is in excellent shape. The dedicated crew that is taking care of the ship are doing a great job to keep this piece of history around for generations to come. My problem is that visitors only have access to the main deck and first level of the superstructure. A person would need a guide to go to the upper part of the superstructure, like the bridge. No access below the main deck means, no engine room tour. What a disappointment! Why do you need a guide to go to the bridge when it is all free? Very baffling as the ship has been on display since 1981. It's not like they didn't have time to prepare it yet. I suggest people visit the USS Salem in Quincy, MA. It's not as pretty as the Cassin Young, but the crew is working hard to get her to that point. A visitor gets access to basically 3/4 of the ship. Main deck to the bridge, and 4 levels down to the #3 engine room. Also, one each of the 8" and 5" gun turrets open to the public. Now that's worth 5 stars there.
Bob Z — Google review
A brilliantly preserved WW2 warship which saw action in many theatres including Japan where it was subject to Kamikazi attack. Tours are also available which were free when I attended. There is no charge to access the vessel.

Absolutely fantastic building, built better than a church in many ways .. exquisit brick work, architecture, and the carpentry, blacksmithing, foundry work , stands by itself as a true masterpiece aside from the machinery it houses. It was a wonderful morning hike to Blue Hills - Red dot trail starting at the Trailside Museum. At a leisurely pace, took an hour to reach the summit and it's totally worth it. Excellent panoramic views of the Boston Skyline, the Houghton's Pond & the Ponkapoag Pond. The weather observatory itself has a long history to tell. Overall a great experience
Rifad A — Google review
Steep climb but totally worth it. Take the tour - fascinating and rare to have time with a real expert. And the view from the tower.....wow!
Ian G — Google review
Strongly recommend doing the tour, especially with young children. The tour guide is super knowledgeable. The view from above the tower speaks for itself.
Selwyn E — Google review
The place for meteorologists!! Love all the different instruments they have here
Joshua — Google review
It was cool to see the weather station at the top. Seems like they have an excessive number in wind speed sensors, but what do I know. The building was closed when I went, it is open on the weekends though. I think that it was worth the hike on the red dot trail. Not being an avid hiker, I think that the trail up is pretty rough. It basically all rocks the whole way up. Walking down the road was much easier, although it is pretty steep. Over all, it was really fun!
Joey M — Google review
This was my first visit to the observatory and it was well worth the hike. The oldest continuously operating weather observatory in America, it is on the National Register of Historic Places for good reason. The stone and mortar construction has the appearance of a castle turret, sitting majestically atop the Blue Hills. Small educational tours are being conducted once more, and reservations are required to assure availability. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and donations are greatly appreciated. The gift shop is also a good way to help support this non-profit organization. The hike up was great, the views spectacular.and the hike down a wonderful way to cap my visit.
Aaron A — Google review
Fantastic place to get a birdseye view of Boston and surrounding areas, as well as enjoy a day hike, and also learn about weather and the oldest continuously operating weather observatory in the United States.

Went on the Sunset Hike with Friends of the Blue Hills. Was a fabulous event! Always a great day hiking here.

Historical place
Boston National Historical Park, particularly the Charlestown Navy Yard, is a captivating destination that spans 43 acres and features two visitor centers. This park serves as a gateway to Boston's rich history, offering ranger-led tours and informative talks that delve into the city's past. Visitors can embark on the Freedom Trail, a scenic 2.5-mile route connecting significant sites like Faneuil Hall, Old South Meeting House, and Bunker Hill Monument.
We visited on a Tuesday afternoon in mid-June 2025. We parked on the street a few blocks away and from there we walked to Bunker Hill and then to the USS Constitution. Our car was too big for any parking garages with our rooftop cargo carrier on our minivan. We saw some sketchy reviews about parking near the museum as well. We also visited the USS Constitution Museum but because of our lack to time we decided it wasn't worth it to pay the suggested fee and just do the free visitor center here. This is a active military site so you do have to go through security to enter. You also are asked to show ID. There are restrooms and water fountains when you enter. Then you go down a bit to the gift shop on your left and the exhibits are straight ahead. There is a info desk slightly to the right down the ramp. No one was at the desk when we visited but they had maps and NPS Passport Cancellation Stamps sitting on the table. There were a number of stamps here. Also directly to your right is a small theater that had a short 10 min film that played on repeat every 15 mins. We walked out to the ship next. The exhibits in the back were pretty cool and had a lot of interesting stuff. The kids looked around for about 15 mins before they got bored and were ready to go. Overall we probably wouldn't visit here again. Maybe just to do the ship cause that was cool and was cut short because it was starting to rain and we didn't want to be caught out in it.
David L — Google review
The USS Constitution is an absolutely gorgeous ship and a remarkable piece of American history. Stepping aboard really gives you a sense of its scale, craftsmanship, and the role it played in the nation’s past. The experience felt both inspiring and educational, making it well worth the visit. The museum is an excellent addition, with interactive exhibits that make the history engaging for all ages. Younger visitors can get hands-on and learn in a fun way, while older visitors will appreciate the depth of information and the careful preservation of artifacts. It truly makes the history of the ship come alive and provides valuable context for the visit. This is the kind of destination that appeals to everyone—families with kids, students, history buffs, or older generations who simply want to connect with a living piece of history. The combination of the ship and the museum creates a balanced experience that is both educational and enjoyable. Overall, a must-see in Boston. Beautifully maintained, rich with history, and accessible for all ages, the USS Constitution and its museum offer an unforgettable experience.
John R — Google review
History is amazing! If you are in Boston, you have to make it to this ship! It is so fun to stand on a piece of history and experience it. It is fun to listen to the employees tell stories of how old iron sides got her name! The little museum in the Gift shop is cool too!
Alec R — Google review
Great experience and vast area that houses sites and important infrastructures associated with the American revolution and history. Bunker Hill site, museum, market halls like Faneuil are definitely worth seeing. Old North Church and Navy Yard are all on route.
Tim F — Google review
Absolutely amazing! Definitely take the tour if you have time. One can explore the top deck with no guidance and there is an officer on board to answer any questions
High P — Google review
This is one of the most historical places in the country, home to the USS constitution, USS Cassin Young, Bunker Hill, Paul Revere's midnight landing site, the site of the Boston Tea Party, and so much more... it's an absolute must visit if you're into history.
Noah D — Google review
For some fun we like to go into the city and just relax and get lost and enjoy the sites … no funner place to end up on the Swan boat like a regular tourist
Stephen G — Google review
The NPS app had a really nice audio tour. I viewed churches and meeting houses, graveyards from the 1600s and on, the USS Constitution, Paul Revere’s house, etc.

Academic department
The Harvard Science Center in Boston stands as a pivotal hub for undergraduate science and mathematics education. This modernist structure, designed by the renowned architect Josep Sert in the early 1970s, breaks away from the traditional Georgian architectural style that characterizes much of Harvard's campus. With its steel and concrete facade adorned with numerous windows, it invites natural light into its multi-storey layout while featuring inviting courtyards that enhance the streetscape.
If u are not from Harvard and you need to study without a library card this is the place
Petre E — Google review
There is no possibility to go on top for a view (trust me, I tried) of you don't work there. The building has the shape of the first camera - it is said that it is related to the fact that the polaroid family made a generous contribution to Harvard.
Mathieu R — Google review
Harvard is nice, but comparing with my own experience, I think Yale is better and more cozy
Jon U — Google review
I like it here because all the people I met here are quite good at their work. Even after getting admitted to such a prestigious university guys here have a very low level of ego and they respect a man's privacy.
MASTER N — Google review
Not particularly beautiful (pre-2016 construction) but very practical, with large bathrooms and computer rooms. A sort of de facto student center because of its central location.
Sindy T — Google review
I want to go there cause I want to be a lawyer and that's the best university to go to so I'm going to study really really hard to get a scholarship and maybe I will become one of the best lawyers in the world
Fernanda G — Google review
Clean building inside and out. Some of the computers in the basement lab is acting up and wouldn't print. Even the IT has a hard time figuring out what was going on.
Natalie L — Google review
Nice place with changing outdoor activities. The building itself is much less attractive.

College
The Northeastern University Marine Science Center is a vibrant hub for marine and environmental research, offering engaging programs for children in grades K-12 and the general public. Visitors can enjoy guided tours that showcase the important work being done by dedicated researchers at this facility. The center plays a vital role in the local community of Nahant and New England, hosting various events that foster awareness about marine science.
Beautiful! If I had a girlfriend I would bring her here for a scenic walk.
Louis D — Google review
Give us out of towners parking or we will endorse North East to destroy and take over your precious eco system! Lets go North East
Patrick K — Google review
This is an important center for Marine Science Research, staffed by highly qualified and dedicated researchers. They do many community events, and are a great resource for Nahant and New England! I doubt if Louis Agassiz is spinning in his grave. He was a scientist who had his own lab in Nahant. Keep up the good work, MSC!
William D — Google review
Disappointing how the University has behaved, destroying bird and wildlife habitat for their aggressive expansion. This is unwelcome in Nahant. The town is nearly unanimously against them.
Christian B — Google review
Nahant is a tiny town; NU plans to build a huge 60,000 sq. ft. building on a pristine coastal ecosystem seems self defeating for a group of educated marine scientists. Nahant says NO.
Stacey C — Google review
Many of the poor reviews you are seeing here are the result of misdirected anger. Those frustrated with any potential plans for MSC expansion should be directing their concerns to Northeastern University, as they are in charge of said expansion.
Isaac W — Google review
Fantastic and important work happening in this beautiful facility. Northeastern is an outstanding neighbor to have.
Stephen S — Google review
Manager Ryan Hill is extremely disrespectful and unprofessional. Gives the Center a bad reputation.
