Nestled within a beautifully preserved 17th-century Spanish colonial villa, the Casa Museo Francisco José De Caldas is a treasure trove of history and culture. This charming museum showcases an impressive collection of paintings, documents, drawings, and scientific instruments that belonged to the renowned Colombian polymath. Visitors can explore his original furnishings and memorabilia while delving into Colombia's rich cartographic history.
Very original place and interesting history, this man was unique

The museum doesn't have much just facts about the life of Francisco Caldas, the guide is super helpful and the pictures and objects in really good quality. Nearby neighbourhoods are somewhat dangerous but the inner zone is calm and guarded by police and military.

(Translated by Google) A beautiful place that the first moment you enter takes you back in time. It is a very well maintained place and has several rooms with technology to learn about the different documents, lives and artifacts found in the museum. The Francisco José de Caldas House is a place that everyone who is in the capital should take the time to visit. The house of the important soldier and scientist not only focuses on geography with important tools, but also there are several beautiful sections for the Botanical Expedition. (Translated by Google) The Francisco José de Caldas House Museum is a very interesting place. I liked that it is easy to get the context and explanation of everything that is there, because they have screens with all the necessary information, even videos. Also, I found a piece that really caught my attention. It is a rifle with a bayonet. This type of weapon was key in the conflicts of the 19th century, since it combined firepower with the possibility of hand-to-hand combat. I highlight the writings on the walls where his life and commitment are recounted, as they show us that the importance of Francisco José de Caldas in our history is not only due to his hunger for knowledge, which led him to make important advances in multiple areas, but it is also due to his great commitment to our country, which led him to a tragic destiny. (Translated by Google) The Francisco José de Caldas House Museum is an incredible place. It tells the story of Francisco José de Caldas and his entire life. It displays incredible artifacts and instruments from the era that lead us to reflect on those colonial times. Likewise, one object that particularly caught my attention was the musket, widely used during the War of Independence and even before, in the mid-1810s. I didn't know that there was a musket factory in Antioquia, which makes me realize that there are many aspects of our history that we don't know. Francisco José de Caldas was one of the country's first geographers and astronomers. The museum features nine halls with over 200 interactive exhibits focused on topics such as the universe, electricity, molecular sciences, and culture. Visitors can enjoy hands-on activities like static-electricity experiments, physics demonstrations, and learning about the human body's adaptation to different planets. The museum also houses a planetarium that takes visitors on a journey through the universe.
Hands-On Fun for All Ages at Maloka! If you're looking for a great family activity while in Bogotá, Maloka Museo Interactivo is a top choice. This interactive science museum makes learning incredibly fun for both kids and adults. The museum is packed with hands-on exhibits covering everything from the universe and technology to the human body and biodiversity. It's designed for touching, playing, and experimenting, which keeps children engaged and curious. The Cine Domo (Dome Cinema) is often a highlight, offering immersive film experiences. It's a fantastic place to spend a few hours or even half a day exploring, discovering, and learning together. Highly recommended for families visiting or living in Bogotá!

First time here and kids loved it. Fun fun fun. They enjoyed all the interactive exhibits. Educational and fun. I do recommend. Tickets are priced at a reasonable price. It's cheaper to buy tickets online.

The Maloka Interactive Museum in Bogotá is an interesting destination for anyone looking for a hands-on way to learn about science and technology. The building is an impressive architectural feat with a dome-shaped roof that houses the planetarium. The museum is divided into different sections, each with its own focus, such as the human body and energy. The planetarium is the museum's most popular attraction, offering a journey through the universe. What sets Maloka apart is the interactivity, with nearly every exhibit having a hands-on element. The museum is particularly popular with children. The staff are knowledgeable and there are events and workshops throughout the year. Overall, I would recommend a visit to Maloka Interactive Museum for anyone interested in science and technology.

Pretty expensive for what it is, looking tired and definitely in need of a refresh. Our 6 and 8 year Olds enjoyed it but it definitely needs some love.
Gerard D — Google review
Nice experience! A lot of immersive experiences great for kids. Helpful staff. The only con was the electric stairs and elevator were not working.
Valek — Google review
It is an interactive site in which children can have contact with science. Several attractions such as: interplanetary systems, because earthquakes are generated, as paleontology has studied the marine animals that lived more than 500 million years ago, among others. With ample spaces looking for that each attraction can be visualized between several people. A map of the city of Bogota, which was made in recycling material, using 3D printers, adds to maloka the importance of being a museum unique in its nature.

Military Museums
The Military Museum of Colombia, located in a mansion with nine rooms and two courtyards, is a must-visit attraction in Bogota. It offers an extensive collection of military exhibits showcasing the country's history, including weaponry, uniforms, technology, and strategy. Visitors can explore displays from the Air Force and view canons, guns, missiles, rockets, bombs, planes, helicopters, tanks as well as monuments to military leaders.
This is a wonderful museum particularly for history and military buffs that is highly informative with many great artifacts and exhibits that showcase the military history of Colombia including the numerous humanitarian endeavours it was involved with. Each branch of the military is respectfully represented in a well organized manner. I visited the museum on a Saturday afternoon and there was no wait and not crowded. As a history buff I was unaware of the significant contribution Colombia made to the Korean War - the museum has a section devoted to the Colombian contribution. The admission is free of charge, the washroom within the museum was well maintained and I definitely believe this museum is well worth a visit when in Bogota. Please be advised that the exhibits are described only in Spanish. Nonetheless, as a non Spanish speaker I still found the museum interesting.
Peter K — Google review
Admission to this museum is free. The exhibits are good but it would have helped if they had English wordings for all the displays. It would help tourists who come from English speaking countries to understand it better.
Divya D — Google review
Free entry which is always a win. English translations were lacking on the majority of the items to see. Various exhibitions showing different... I'm not sure because I can't read Spanish but there were swords in glass cases, various mannequins in uniforms, medals and lots of wall displays. A free toilet, and free WiFi.
Samuel E — Google review
What a perfect FREE way to enjoy 1-2 hours. Visit the Military Museum Of Colombia if you love military, history and guns 💪😎🔫 The majority of the area is sheltered, the army guys speak almost no English and everything is in Spanish but it's super cool! You can take pictures but NO VIDEOS or you have to join the army on the spot. They have lots guns, military artifacts on display and a helicopter!! You're surrounded by friendly armed forces upon entering with big guns. Please follow @bouncingplaces on YOUTUBE as It helps support the channel so I can continue sharing amazing places like this to eat and fun adventures as I travel the world full time 🌎 🙏 See you in the next one! Keep on Bouncing Baby 😎❤️👍💯

This is a hidden gem for history lovers. Never heard of it in any of the travel influencer's posts about Bogota. Very well-maintained building with lots of cool things to check. If you have any interests in military and antique war memorabilia its a must visit place for you.

Very good experience. If you like military content, this museum is a very good place to visit. Unfortunately, almost all the content is in Spanish, and I am not sure if there are guides who speak English or content in English, but all the guns and equipment is enough to give a very good experience to visitors.

The Planetario de Bogotá, located near the National Museum, is a modern and educational facility that offers a variety of experiences for visitors. It features astronomy shows, interactive exhibitions, and hands-on workshops aimed at engaging both children and adults in the wonders of the universe. The planetarium also houses a space museum, a library, a gift shop, and a cafe. While it's an ideal place for educational visits with kids, it also hosts evening events such as Pink Floyd cover band performances.
We went to see a concert in this location. It was a French electro, pop, duo, and it was really cool. They use the entire scenario and the roof as the screen. Highly recommend recommendable for anybody who wants to have a different type of experience

The Planetário is only a few minutes within walking distance from our hotel. It is not free admission. You must pay the ticket. It will cost around 5 euros for an adult. There will be a staff member in front to explain the place and ticket.

I really loved the dome experience. But we went on a day when it was packed with a school field trip so it was difficult to hear or relax. I wish they had told us before hand as it seems many other tourist were present but not warned. Regardless the dome experienced showed a movie on el dorado which was great.
Samantha D — Google review
Very beautiful, the tour is very profesionally done, the whole impression is on another level. I recommend everyone who has time to visit.
Ana K — Google review
An old and outdated planetarium made even worse by egotistical and unfriendly staff. Inside the building is unheated and cold and unpleasant. Maybe it can impress a 7 year old. But beyond this, there’s no reason to visit.
Randy X — Google review
Excellent place of Bogotá to get to know a lot of interesting facts about the universe, the planets, the stars, and different objects of the giant universe. The people that will be with you in this wonderful tour will help you with all the interesting information that has the universe and that they will be sharing with you. The spaces are big, very informative, it has a great distribution, and the guides help 100% with all the places and fun facts. Very kind personal, and very clean areas. 100% recommended.

I visited Planetario last weekend and I was amazed by the projection in the dome. In the museum there is a guide and she were very good at explaining the rocket models, space suits, and the diferents representations of the cosmos. I was very interested in the astronomical observation at night and the different books and astronomical charts. Im so proud of Bogotá.

Iglesia de la Orden Tercera, also known as the Church of the Third Order or Stigmata, is a historical and artistic gem located in the Santa Fe district of Bogota. Dating back to 1761, this beautiful church showcases striking wood carvings in the Rococo style, attributed to sculptor Pablo Caballero. The intricate mahogany altar is particularly noteworthy, with local lore suggesting that its completion led to the sculptor's tragic demise.
A truly lovely church with intricately carved wooden furnishings and altars. Very little gold leaf to be seen, a pleasant change. There is no photography allowed so you will have to take the image away in your memory. A must see in Bogotá

The objective of the museum is to provide a playful perspective through play in which visitors interact with the objects to be amazed, laugh, play and experiment with different phenomena of optics and electromagnetism. We can get inside a soap bubble or see our reflection distorted with curved mirrors or spin in a chair. Honestly, it is a very interesting and fun experience that makes us appreciate different things about science. The only thing is that to enter you must call to schedule the visit and it is for groups of about 10 people.
