Museum os Saar history next to the main Schliss, which is an administrative building. Nice gardens behind the schools, and a great open air restaurant by the Plaza in front of the schloss.

I really liked the old parts of the castle, the ground is uneven, so take care but it is really worth seeing, the right amount of creepy and fun!

This place is a nice place to visit. Especially in the summertime. In the evening it's lit up very nice and you can sit at the nearby Biergarden or on the benches and enjoy the view of the castle. The history around it is very interesting. There's also a maze garden belonging to the garden which is a great place to relax and have a good conversation and also a nice view.

I highly recommend visiting the museum if you are in the areas. It takes a few hours to look through everything. It is cheap 7€ for a ticket and it very nice you get to feel to close to the ruins. Here is the downside, a lot of the signs have only German or French text. I did get approched by a staff member who could tell me more about it in English, but I personally wished I could enjoy it at my own pace rather than being "taken" through the museum. (Also I felt the WW2 / Post WW2 section was too much of the same thing, as it was just National Socialism everywhere with posters and history but nothing else)

This museum is a hidden gem! We felt so welcomed by the museum staff, in particular a kind and very knowledgeable staff member. He translated a lot of the German exhibits to English for our family. My 8 year old was so impressed with all of the history that the museum had. The coolest part of the museum had to be the castle that it is built over. If you are in the area it is a must see! We also loved our free euro 0€ 💶 souvenir. Oh, one more thing they have an area to hang your coats and lockers for any shopping bags you might have with you.

A great museum and a must visit in Saarbrücken! I spent three hours here but could have easily stayed a lot longer. There are tonnes of interesting things to read and look at. The museum is very well kept and is decently priced. I'd love to go again!

A really great gem in Saarbrücken. I got on with my student card for less than 5 euro. I had to put my back pack in a locker and was not allowed to take photos in some of the exhibits, but that did not impede on my enjoyment of the museum, and the staff was very friendly. I was surprised to find that the museum had so many artifacts - I did not expect a museum in Saarbrücken to be so strong.But I was so wrong! It was comparable to the history museum I visited in Metz, France. There were old castle ruins underneath the museum, artifacts from centuries and centuries ago up until the second world war (and a little beyond, too). I spent three hours there without even seeing it all.

Interesting for kids loving the history, the museum tells a lot about Saarland history. Our 9 y.o daughter loved the casemates.

A beautiful Baroque church right in the heart of Saarbrücken. The square around it is impressive and the sandstone building looks amazing, especially at sunset. Inside, it’s peaceful, bright, and simple with elegant white interiors. Definitely worth a quick visit if you’re in the city to see its architecture and enjoy the calm atmosphere.

Beautiful, interesting architecture of this historical church that has been rebuilt. Currently undergoing some renovation and cannot enter the inside as of August 2024. It's one of the nicer sights in the city though.

What I found interesting about the church is that, from a distance, the church looks architecturally well composed and as I approached closer, the details are very striking. One of the best places in Saarbrücken! Thanks to ASTA, UdS students can get tickets for free (except for special days, for e.g. I had to pay 5€ to watch play on Christmas holiday which is still very nominal). I watched The Nutcracker, one of best ballet plays there is, and it was spellbinding!

Great musical theater and ballet. Students at the university can get in free! (Show up at the box office <3 days before the show you want to attend in order to claim a free ticket.)

The scenery is refreshing it serves as an excellent hangout for all ages groups, family and friends hangouts, picnics, couples hangout etc. There are cable cars which go over the whole park. There are restaurants there as well. I loved my experience there. It's more ideal to go on a sunny day.

A spacious park with lots of manicured lawns, a rose garden, a big pond and forest nearby. I wish there were more flowerbeds and the garden were fancier. If you have a company of friends it is a good place to use for the outing. There were just the 2 of us and the place seemed a little too dull. I have been to fancier parks.
