Winery
Mission Estate Winery, established in 1851, is the oldest winery in New Zealand and offers a rich history of winemaking. Located in the Taradale hills, it provides tastings, beautiful gardens, a restaurant with a modern and luxurious ambiance, and hosts outdoor concerts. The estate also features The Farmhouse at Mission Estate, an elegant three-bedroom holiday home set within its private vineyards and manicured grounds.
The most beautiful winery we’ve visited in Hawke’s Bay. We had 2 wine tastings, the white and the aromatic flights. $15/per person which was a steal because we spent nearly 2 hours there (and they over pour). I highly recommend the “2023 Mission Estate Hawke’s Bay Riesling” which is part of the aromatic flights. It’s a nice place to take your time to write down what you think of each wine and talk over some tipsy day drinking. The tastings themselves were all hitters. I personally would have bought a bottle myself because they were delicious and reasonably priced at around $18/ bottle. But I’m no wine snob, I just thought the views were pretty nice. The drive in features old well maintained trees and a beautiful landscape to drink in front of. Go on a nice sunny day and get yourself pretty because you will want to take lots of pictures. Well done

We visited for a wine tasting on Thursday and were presented with four different types to choose from. I selected one to start with, and after tasting it, I wanted to try another. Unfortunately, I was told that only one type is allowed per tasting session, and if I wanted to try more, I’d have to go into the restaurant and order a glass. Since my companion was tied up with a long online meeting, I had to give up on the idea. The setting was beautiful and the pricing very reasonable, but the inflexible policy was a bit disappointing.

We got to see The Mission cellar door while we were visiting friends who had just moved to Napier, as part of a wine tour with Frankly Tours (see other review). We did the tour on a Sunday, hoping that the cellar doors would be open, and we were not disappointed. The Mission was our first stop, and what a starter! Fantastic venue and atmosphere, just stunning on the hill. 5 wines tasted from their extensive range, starting with their bubbles. We were given plenty of time to browse the historic photos and artifacts after the wine tasting session. Tour guide was the most knowledgeable of the 3 by far that we met on the day tour, and I think we chatted so much with Q&A that we kind of ran out of time. Absolutely no pressure to buy any of the wines, and indeed we were back on our tour bus before we realised we had not had the chance to purchase LOL. Beyond the wine production the venue and location itself is obviously a major part of their business set up, simple stunning. Recommend you ask for this "cellar door" specifically on any wine tour in Napier.
Stuart G — Google review
Beautiful spot, great wines and wonderful history made for a stunning start to our wine discovery. Self guided tasting so you do not feel rushed but stuff there to help out if and when needed. When back for seconds. Also we'll priced celler door wines for sale.
Annie S — Google review
Magic place with incredibly tasty wine, we loved our stop at Mission Estate. Our server was very nice. We went for the aromatic self guided tasting and what a blast ! We ended up by buying four bottles. You should really include Mission Estate in your winery tour !
Marc W — Google review
Well worth the detour. We did some tasting followed by a cheese platter. Yvonne was warm and super knowledgeable - not only about the wine and heritage but also the region. Highly recommended!
Liz L — Google review
Lovely food and staff. Would have been 5 star but a bit odd in their rules on one paddle per person seeing the amount of wine choice’s and how much time and money we spent in the restaurant. The “can’t be in the grass” with the tasting paddle also very odd and comes across as uninviting. They were reasonable at accommodating to food intolerances.
Ben O — Google review
My family and I recently visited Mission Winery and were not disappointed. The wine is worth trying and the view is stunning. The service that we had from Trevor in particular was exceptional. He was knowledgeable, answered all our questions about the estate and the wine, and had a very friendly manner. We highly recommend going for a visit.

Church Road Winery, established in 1897, is a must-visit destination in Napier. The winery offers daily tours and tastings, allowing visitors to explore the wine-making process and learn about its rich history through a unique museum housed within old wine vats. Additionally, guests can indulge in 'The Bay Platter,' featuring local meats and produce from the Hawke's Bay region.
My husband and I really like this winery — we often come here to buy wine. This was our first time dining here, and we absolutely loved the atmosphere. It felt so peaceful and relaxing. We’ll definitely come back again!

I would like to thank Roger. He gives my whole family the best of the best wine tasting experience. I have been Church Road,3 /4 times. in the past experience, It was too many visitors and hard to get a quality time to learn wine, to know about Church Road. Thank you , Roger. He is passionate to wine and share the best of his knowledge with us. FYI , we booked a lunch time and got an excellent wine tasting before lunch. We tried the $45 & $35 wine tasting. The $45 is the value for money and best value to try all 5 $100 worth wine... 300% recommended.

A friend and I spent a lovely afternoon at Church Road Winery. We had lunch which was delicious, first sharing a cheese board and then opting for the pork belly and the tortellini as our mains while sharing a bottle of the Gwen rose which was very nice. Dessert was an affogato and a chocolate brulee (a must order) Danielle was our server and she was very attentive, answered all our questions easily and was very friendly. After lunch we grabbed another bottle of Gwen rose and headed out to the expansive lawn to finish the day. All the staff we came across were always so friendly and willing to help, when we enquired about the cost of a Gwen tote bag the lady who was asked (it was her first day and we forgot to ask her name) went above and beyond to find out the answer for us. Definitely recommend a visit to Church Road Winery

Great Food, But the Service Ruined It We came today for a tasting and some food — unfortunately, it was a real disappointment. The setting is stunning, both the gardens and the cellar door interior are beautiful. But from the moment we arrived, confusion began: no signage, multiple counters, and no clear direction. After waiting, we were told by a staff member, that he was too busy to do a tasting, despite the venue being only a third full. We were also told to hurry if we wanted food, as the kitchen was closing — before 3:00pm, even though the cellar door closes at 4:30pm. At the food counter, the welcome felt more like an inconvenience. We were rushed, given no explanations about the menus, and then served food without plates, cutlery, or napkins. After fetching our own, the waitress (who was kind) arrived with napkins just as a gust of wind knocked over a glass of wine onto our platter. No one offered help or even asked if we wanted to replace the glass. The food itself was excellent — beautifully made and full of flavour — and the wine was very good. But the service was among the worst I’ve experienced in 16 years as a chef, including three years working in a New Zealand winery. Even basic hospitality standards were missing. I came with fond memories of Church Road wines, but after this experience, I won’t be returning or purchasing their wine again. A real shame — it could easily be one of New Zealand’s best wineries with better service.
Theo D — Google review
Great service. Amazing food. Nice sitting outside on a sunny day. Beautiful atmosphere. I don’t normally have desert but was sold by the waitress that offered it and it was delicious. Will definitely be wining and dining there alot more

Had an amazing tasting session!! We booked the Inspired By The Bay tasting session and the lady who served us, Trina was amazing, thank you so much for being patient with us and taught us so much about how to taste and how different wines are made differently🙌🏻🙌🏻 loved it so much❤️
M T — Google review
We were at Church Road for wine tasting. Roger was so knowledgeable and managed the tasting experience so well. Definitely will back either for dinner or spend sometime beautiful at garden.
Hüseyin Y — Google review
Super wines, good tasting, and clearly there is someone who knows their stuff in the kitchen! Bookings for wine tastings and lunch had to be done as two different bookings on line, it was a bit frustrating and confusing, but got sorted at cellar door. Surprised that the cost of the tasting doesn't seem to be waived if other product is purchased, and that there isn't a wine club to join which is disappointing. A lovely way to spend a few hours

MTG Hawke's Bay, short for Museum, Theater, and Gallery, is a cultural complex that offers a rich blend of fine and applied arts as well as historical artifacts. Boasting an extensive inventory of 90,000 items, the museum showcases a diverse range of objects with captivating stories. Visitors can explore permanent galleries dedicated to the region's Maori culture and the impactful earthquake, alongside ever-changing temporary exhibitions that offer fresh insights into the area.
went to the museum last Saturday 25th Oct 2025, the staff was very friendly, i bought some Napier postcards from there. The museum has 3 floors and one of them is dedicated to the Napier earthquake back in 1931. It was surreal and very touching to see and read those history. Should pop at this museum when you have time in Napier!
Hana H — Google review
MTG Hawke's Bay is a great place to learn about the art and culture of the Hawke's Bay region and beyond. The museum houses a diverse collection of art, including Māori treasures, contemporary works, and historical artifacts from Napier's Earthquake. The Māori collection is particularly impressive, featuring intricate carvings, textiles, and weapons. The museum also has a dedicated Māori gallery, which provides visitors with a deeper understanding of Māori culture and history. Overall, MTG Hawke's Bay is a well-curated and informative museum, however the ladies working there were surprisingly very unkind, which sadly downgraded the experience.
Misha P — Google review
The perfect little museum in the heart of napier, tons of free exhibits with lots of great historical information. Basement floor was closed but only due to renovations which is fair, hope the revamp looks good!

Nice museum and art. Enjoyed the shaking tables you could play with. The video before the room shook like a earthquake was entertaining.

Small but very nice museum. Cool exhibitional hall of Hawkes's bay's story. Can see the view of art deco building from second floor.

Very impressed I learnt a lot about Maori that I didn't know. The basement earthquake simulation made me jump and brought home to me what it would feel like. Impressed that it was free .

Walked into this lovely museum to be met by the nicest lady, so welcoming and knowledgeable. The museum houses a fine collection of attifacts, and an awesome film interview with survivors of the earthquake that wiped out Napier. Easy to navigate, free entry. Photo friendly too.

The Napier Urban Farmer's Market is a vibrant and bustling market held every Sunday from 8am to 1pm. With over 60 stalls offering a wide variety of locally sourced products, visitors can indulge in sweet pastries, fresh veggies, delicious meats, artisan breads, and cheeses. The market also features live music and activities for kids, making it an enjoyable day out for everyone.
Colorful and bustling market. Made me so happy just to be strolling around. There were lots of vegetables, fruits, snacks, and local produce. What a great way to spend my Saturday morning!
Mochi — Google review
So enjoy wandering in on a Saturday morning, enjoying the beautiful Clive Square atmosphere. Great spot for a crepe n coffee for breakfast. And to pick up bread, veggies and pastries
Vicki B — Google review
It was light showers as we got to the market. Both sides of the street along the park had market stalls. As we were travelling onto Wellington we could not buy any fresh produces or perishables, even if these were looking so good and fresh at the stalls. We did decide to buy from the bakery stall as we could eat these along the way. Definitely would come back and with more time to stay.
Patrick Z — Google review
Visiting Napier for few days, stopped in here to kill some time. Market very small, just the normal coffee, breads/savouries, bacon sammies, fruit/veg, wooden chopping boards & flowers. Locals very friendly. Only negative the coffee truck makes horrible coffee and extremely hot. So if you do decide to buy from here be sure to ask for 2 cups so you can at least hold your distasteful cup of coffee.
David L — Google review
Saturday mornings are beautiful here, come check it out 🙂
Abbii A — Google review
I mean the market itself is small and not much exposer for the marketeers online. You're not really sure if everyone is going to be there or not. When you have visitors from out of town, you take them there and your market is slightly empty then that's sad for everyone. They need more exposure and more stalls to make it a good market.
Grace F — Google review
Love the farmers market, had the best figs stall ever, lots of variety of fresh food.
Amruta M — Google review
Fantastic atmosphere and fabulous fresh produce. I was especially impressed with the herbs & flower plants for sale. You do not have to buy a full punnet you can buy just one plant or make up a mixed basket of what you need. What a brilliant idea! Well worth a visit to this great Farmers Market right next to the beautiful Clive Square in Napier city centre.

Visitors can indulge in chocolate-coated hoke pokey, coconut rough, marshmallow logs, and more.
Easily the best chocolates one can have. Smooth, creamy with perfect balance. Very well made and cabinets are presented beautifully. The pantry has an amazing choice of produce crafted on site. It was a joy to visit and sample their products.

Expensive chocolates, but they are hand made and every flavour you could think of, just don't expect market prices. 6 chocolates cost nearly $20 and just in a paper bag. They do have gift boxes and gift wrapping there. Cup of signature "hot" chocolate was good, but served cold. I asked them to heat for me and was much nicer. $7 for a piccolo cup which I thought was fair considering it eas literally melted chocolate 🫕 🍫 😋 pictured.

Silky Oak Chocolate museum & café is an absolute must if you’re anywhere near the area. The museum lays out the history of chocolate from the use of cocoa beans as currency in Aztec culture all the way up to modern day international chocolate making. The displays are well-maintained and interesting to look at, as well as completely unique to anything else in other museums we’ve visited. There’s even a little theatre playing vintage chocolate ads that’s fun to see! The staff are wonderful and the cafe is also really lovely with a nice selection of food and drinks (including a hot chocolate made with silky oaks very own chocolate!). We got a few chocolates from the shop on the way out and have to say the salted caramel bark is particularly tasty!

We recently had a delightful time while in Napier when we stopped for a visit at the Silky Oak Chocolate cafe. We initially stopped for a few chocolate treats and gifts while travelling but were pleasantly surprised by the amazing food we had at the cafe on site. We both had a bacon egg bene (as that is the go to for us) which was absolutely beautiful and the cherry tomatoes were a great addition to the meal! The coffee was also amazing as well as the desserts we picked to accompany our long black brews. The staff also helped to make the experience! We had a great time meeting Jean in the cafe, the ladies in the pantry and Sue in the chocolate shop were all stars! We loved our visit to Silky Oak and the ladies made it even more special with their knowledge and hospitality. Looking forward to going back to the Silky Oak when next we are down from Auckland!

Excellent service and delicious food! My partner said it was the best scone he has tasted in a long time. I enjoyed my chocolate special, it was so divine. Partner also enjoyed his hot coffee too! We are happy with the food availability that was on offer, along with the fast service and seating availability too. A calming and quiet atmosphere. Will definitely come here again.
Hayley N — Google review
The food was delicious and beautifully presented, lots of dressing and flavours. However unfortunately our coffee was lukewarm and lacking depth of flavour
Brigitte — Google review
Great food. Great coffee. The chocolate very yummy and a little pricey, however no wifi available

Wow! Great locally made chocolate alternative to Bennetts and Makana. Di was so helpful in identifying the dark chocolate options. Sadly, dark chocolate and salt as a combo was unavailable. I purchased two 70% dark chocolate bars (48 g - $7.60/ea). Continuing trend of chocolate being expensive in NZ. I also visited the Pantry where I bought rhubarb gelato. Had to choose over all-time favorite raspberry chocolate chip. Also had a lovely convo with the woman working in the gift shop. Learned all about her grandmother who lives in Ottawa. Be assured the staff are customer focused and personable!

The friendly staff adds to the delightful shopping experience.

Christine M — Google review
There's no denying Brocante is a lovely store filled with beautiful things. What lets it down is the complete and utter lack of service from the staff (owners?). I visited once more last week with a friend and made a comment as we entered that we were unlikely to receive any service and we then proceeded to spend quite a bit of time wandering around. There were Easter products I was keen to purchase, as well as other products that took my fancy. Sadly we were yet again ignored. The staff (owners?) were too busy discussing Italy and heritage amongst themselves to even be bothered uttering good morning or are you happy browsing to us. Luckily for me the items I would have purchased were able to be purchased in other Napier stores and online once home. It’s the last time I’ll bother with Brocante!
Michelle B — Google review
I came to your store twice trying to buy. The first time it was an hour before your close time on Google and you closed the door as I walked up, and told me I was wrong about the closing time. The second time I arrived at your opening time on Google, waited around for 10-15 minutes for you to open, which you didn't. I brought my product elsewhere.

Loved everything about this place. Wish we had something like it in Australia! Love organic produce from fresh to packaged & here they have the lot. Didn't know where to start looking but ended up enjoying a great organic flat white in the little cafe area. Served by a very friendly barista. It was probably the best we had this trip. Creamy, strong & smooth with perfect flavours. Top marks & thanks.

What an oasis for people who are looking for food that’s both organic and vegan! I would highly recommend going to Napier just to go to this place (but hopefully also to explore the area). It was heaven on Earth. During my stay me and my partner tried out: - Delicious seedy buckwheat bread - Pistachio and a lemon-lime “cheese”-cake – they’ve got so many (too many) of these vegan cheesecake flavours to choose from, and the ones we tried were simply divine, probably one of the best cakes, I’ve ever had - Vegan cornbread with cashew chipotle – nice and indulgent - Vegan bounty – rich and yummy - Vegan cookies – like cookies should be

I'm vision impaired and struggled to read their menu (Very small print with fancy font). It's very busy and I found it difficult to read what they had. It also says online that they make vegan Mac n cheese etc however when I asked they only had soups and fresh sandwiches, tacos etc. The chipotle taco, soup and sandwich I had on two separate occasions were delicious and the fact they cater for vegans and vegetarians is amazing. Seems alternative eating has gone backwards everytime I visit NZ however this place is amazing.
Rory S — Google review
Just ask the price before you order and grab the receipt! $15.50 for a sandwich, chicken, avo. Yum yet too expensive for me, thanks. **Edit** It wasnt labour weekend, it was about a month back. End of September. $35 for 2 chicken sammies and a flat white. I just assumed the sammies were $15 each because we know you could not have charged $9 for the flat white! Perhaps I should have said this in the 1st place. So if they were $13 each then perhaps we were over charged on the coffee!
Colour P — Google review
Food here was amazing! So many vegan options and not too expensive. I got the avocado on toast, I wasn’t a fan of the seeded bread as it was very hard but that’s personal preference. The raw cakes selection was amazing and the mocha cheesecake was delicious. Staff could have been a little friendlier, they were quite aloof and standoffish but overall the place was nice.

Hapi is you Happy place ! Fantastic local organic mostly vegan cafe. Plenty of gf and vegan options of very fresh, organic food. Good selection of home made juices and drinks. Recommend vegan tofu chipotle tacos. They are rare treat ! Vegan Sammie with avocado is delicious too. Coffee best in town and plenty of delicious tea options. It’s a challenge trying to get brekkie without eggs. Without being a fuss anyway. A burger on the brekkie menu tickled my curiosity (with the fried egg removed). Honestly a surprise and delight. I couldn’t quite work myself up to picking it and eating it for breakfast, but was a good start to the day with my perfect piccolo coffee. Would get the quirky again. For the record, the dishes all around with eggs looked top notch too.

Had this place recommended to us for breakfast and glad we took their advice - very friendly and efficient service, & delicious food. The hot cakes with banana and bacon could have fed two people!

This is one of the best cafe brunches I have ever had. Innovative flavour combos with relaxed atmosphere. We had the vegan stack and the asparagus hash browns...delightful! Top marks

Yuuuuum, my partner and I were in Napier over the weekend for work and both mornings we headed here for breakfast. I highly recommend the hotcakes (pictured) absolutely delicious especially if you have a sweet tooth! We also tried the muesli and egg panini these were also very tasty. Great coffee being served too! Man, I’m drooling just thinking about it.

Perfect place for a Sunday brunch on a rainy day. The menu has a range of tasty options whether you're craving sweet or savory. Happy to support a cafe owned by a local family.

Very nice place and certainly worthy of more than one visit. Had salmon cream cheese spread 6.5$ and large FW 5$ (slightly strong). Will try other things next time..

Can't put into words how good the food is. Highly recommend the hot cakes with berries, chocolate soil, and chocolate mousse of you have a sweet tooth; or the chicken katsu eggs benedict if you prefer savory. Portions are huge too!!! I'd eat everything on the menu, even if it killed me. Its in the top 5 dining experiences I've ever had!

Visited for a particular exhibit "The Secret Keeper" artist Catherine Daniels a truly beautiful soul. The exhibit is haunting gorgeousness had me in tears. The venue is a beautiful building amoung Napiers older classics, its pretty inside and out.

CAN is a fantastic place to visit if you're interested in NZ artists. And it's FREE! Well lit spacious areas are full of beautiful displays. Within walking distance of the Napier City centre it's worth going for a look and if you're driving free parking is available on the road outside. Staff are friendly and helpful and if it interests you, classes are available or spaces to rent for your own exhibition. Put aside some time and do it! PS suitable for kids too :-)

Such a lovely art gallery and creative center! We had an event here, held by Indonesian community in Hawke’s Bay area, KAMIBAY, and the batik workshop as well as the fashion show ran smoothly. The staff are friendly and very helpful as well. Here you can also find various works of the local artist, ranging from paintings, artworks, jeweleries and more. I got a pair of hot glass earrings here and I really love them. You can also enjoy the art work of Dali Susanto, an Indonesian-born artist who stay in NZ for the last 14 years. His works are simply amazing. It’s disability friendly as well and very welcoming. For now, mask is mandatory as well.

What a disappointing experience, this art gallery has amazing cards stocked and thought I would support them to purchase some. I walked in and the staff member was typing on her phone, didn’t greet or ask me if I needed help with anything. In fact, there wasn’t even eye contact or any form of communication. I promptly walked out as this exceptionally rude and disrespectful. I will not be returning and certainly wouldn’t support this business. Napier’s a small place, word travels fast.

The Art Deco Trust is a significant landmark in Napier and Hastings, featuring a collection of 1930s structures that have been meticulously restored over the past three decades. This attraction offers self-guided tours for visitors to explore the city's architectural gems, but it's highly recommended to join an official tour for a deeper understanding of the buildings and their history.
We went on the walking tour of the Art deco area of Napier. The short video explains the background of the 1931 earthquake and the aftermath and describes the development of the art deco area. The walking tour was at a leisurely pace and was very interesting the guide was knowledgeable.

A Must-Do in Napier! The Art Deco Trust offers a fantastic and well-organized tour. It started with a fascinating short film about the 1931 earthquake, featuring rare footage and historical insight. Our small-group walking tour was led by a passionate volunteer guide who brought the city’s unique Art Deco heritage to life. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Napier!

We had a fantastic tour and experience with the charming and funny Simon. His detailed knowledge of the local history was very insightful. Definitely recommend and support the Art Deco Trust to help them continue their outstanding local work!

We did the guided walking tour around Napier’s art deco buildings run by a volunteer from the Art Deco Trust. You need to pre book your places on the tour. It was easy walking, went for about an hour and a half, they provide you with a head set so you can listen to your guide. Great stories, wonderful insights about the city, especially the earthquake history. I’d highly recommend the tour.

We had a great experience with our volunteer guide Simon. Just a small group of 6 of us taking in some great architecture and stories of the town. Even if you're not an "Art Deco" fanatic, well worth 2 hours of your day.

Nestled in the charming suburb of Greenmeadows, New World Greenmeadows stands out as a premier supermarket that redefines your shopping experience in Hawkes Bay. This innovative store is not just about groceries; it’s a celebration of local food and wine culture. With an impressive selection of gourmet deli foods, it truly caters to the community's culinary needs. The inviting aroma of freshly brewed Hummingbird coffee greets you at the entrance, setting a warm tone for your visit.
Went there with my dad today and the wise man at the bakery section told me that I should put sauce on the bourbon beef sausage roll. I did what that man said and he was so very correct. I might try to add photos eventually of the sausage roll.

Great store! This location has an amazing range of gluten free products! The smell of their hummingbird coffee when you walk in really helps create a welcome atmosphere. The flowers are so gorgeous! Also, produce is usually quite fresh unless it's out of season(which I'd say will be unavoidable at times). Prices are eh, but that's everywhere these days, so I don't really shopped based on price anymore. Haven't tried the sushi or deli items, but partner says their pastries and bakery items are okay. Store layout is ideal, even when it's really busy their employees work hard and are always very kind and helpful! It's my favorite store to shop at! (We usually shop really early, unless it's a Sunday, then we shop around afternoon.

Always a clean and presentable supermarket like most new worlds, however personally I've not yet come across a new world that makes pies like the supermarket. -Gourmet steak and blue vein pie 9.2/10 Very suprised this hasn't won any awards. They dont spare it on the blue vein, and steak peices are very high quality. If you love blue vein cheese, you'll love this. - Steak, bacon, and cheese pie 8.6/10 All aspects of this pie are on point. Would have been higher if it was the same.shape as the steak and blue vein. However, it's still a great pie.

Step into The Urban Winery, located in the historic National Tobacco Company building in Napiers docklands precinct, and experience a unique blend of art deco architecture and expertly crafted wine. This trendy spot offers a laid-back atmosphere where you can savor Tony Bish wines and indulge in delectable platters. The cellar door showcases innovative concrete and wooden egg-shaped tanks used by winemaker Tony Bish to craft exceptional chardonnay.
Walking into this place was like stepping into a grand haven! The soaring ceilings and inviting furniture create a warm, cozy atmosphere that immediately makes you feel at home. The lovely lady behind the bar was not only incredibly helpful but also had a delightful down-to-earth charm that added to the experience. Now, let’s talk about the food—it was absolutely divine! We indulged in the scallops paired with black pudding and prosciutto, savored the succulent pork belly, and delighted in the perfectly cooked octopus. Each dish was a masterpiece, with presentation that was as exquisite as the incredible flavors. Honestly, it’s the best meal I’ve had in ages! I can't recommend this place enough—every bite is a celebration of taste! Yum!

Whether you’re a Chardonnay fan or not this is a MUST when in Napier. A great selection of wines and beverages on their list, and the food menu is fantastic. The dumplings were a standout, and we had to order a second serve. For the Chardonistas, all of Tony Bish’ wines are available by the glass. I had the Zen and it was delicious. Had to pick up a dozen Fat & Sassy while there too… Highly recommend. Can’t wait to go back and try the rest of the menu.

Great spot. A lovely selection of wines and gyms. Comfortable atmosphere. Ending up buying too much wine to take away- but that’s not too much of a bad thing is it? Would definitely visit again. Is in a great Art Deco building - shame there are no original Features still inside as that would have just added to the experience

Minton Booklovers is a charming secondhand bookshop in Napier that offers a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. The store boasts a vast selection of carefully chosen and well-organized books, making it easy for visitors to spend hours browsing through the titles. Customers praise the owner for their helpfulness in finding quality books at reasonable prices. The shop's clean and tidy interior adds to its appeal, with many visitors noting that they could easily have left with more books than they initially intended.
The books may be second-hand (well, most of them anyway), but there is nothing used looking about the shop. A clean, neatly laid-out interior, with many books to choose from, organised into various topics. I made a point of visiting this shop during my brief visit to Napier. The man who was working there (the owner, I believe) kindly offered assistance moments after I walked in. He directed me to the military history section. I selected three books, including one that dealt with the actions of New Zealand's armed forces in the Pacific theatre during the Second World War, a subject that I had read very little about. Three interesting books in good condition, for around 37 NZ dollars.

This treasure trove offers an array of unique antique beauties, including exquisite gold-gilded world maps, antique mirrors, old swords, paintings, and statues. The shop itself feels like a splendid museum, showcasing interesting antiques and charming items that exude character.
Wonderful shop. It is a museum inside. Great chat with the shop assistant. Bought a beautiful ring but wanted to buy most things! Antique mirrors, old swords, paintings, statues etc.

I was visiting Napier and saw this shop with several large signs outside advertising all sorts of sales (in retrospect, red flags) so I thought I'd go in and have a look as I'm interested in antiques. I was shocked at the exorbitant prices on the items &, as another review mentioned, a lot would be cheap reproductions made in China. Very disappointing & I would advise against wasting your time in this shop. I don't know how the owner can try to rip people off like this!!
Julie S — Google review
Came in for a browse only to discover how grossly overpriced some of the wares are. A simple Bankers lamp, of which they had several, was being sold for over 600 NZD...These did not look like antiques at all, but to the contrary, looked brand new. This lamp can be purchased at mere 200 at the Art Deco Trust. Or go online and buy one for less than 100.

People, we stumbled upon this business with a small entrance way that meanders into a massive area. Admittedly it would not appeal at all to some people as the huge area is absolutely groaning with old & very old pieces of furniture, lamps, china, crystal, pictures, timepieces to name just a fraction of interesting/fascinating things to peruse. However the owner is in "cuckoo land" with the completely unrealistic prices especially in today's economic climate and for such a small target market for specifically old acquisitions. In reality, prominent signage should be displayed, asking to make an offer for anything that one may like! Steve Franklin Rotorua

Freezing cold shop, you need extra warm clothes on when you visit, but, I recommend that you do not have not go anywhere near this shop. You can't move around freely as it is way over stocked. Over stocked may sound great but it's nearly all rubbish. You could find so much of their products at garage sales for next to no money compared to their extremely high prices.

Opossum World is a unique store in New Zealand that offers a wide range of products made from possum fur. The shop not only provides high-quality possum fur items but also educates visitors about the history and significance of possums. As these animals pose a threat to native birds, utilizing their fur for clothing is seen as a sustainable way to manage their population.
Always a must do visit when in Napier. Some hilarious displays. Has changed a little over the years but good to see it still around. My mum bought some gifts for her friends in the UK and a lovely pair of gloves. Dad found the whole place hilarious

Opossum world has great quality Possum fur products and provides an interesting place at the back of the shop to learn about possums and their history. As possums are a threat to native birds and need to be killed off anyway, using their fur for clothing is a great way to recycle. The fur is soft and a great alternative to other animals that don't need to be killed. Overall great store layout, and if you have the money, it is definitely worth spending at opossum world.

I have been so much warmer in winter since I've had a possum merino jersey from here, which has 35% possum fur. I didn't realise some have more than others until the helpful owner told me. What a difference! It's a lovely shop, with some fun possum exhibits too, and the sound of the NZ bush
Sands M — Google review
I went to this store looking for wool to knit some cool winter socks and YES they stocked a merino and possum blend which was absolutely perfect. The lady owner was so helpful and informative. I think l’ll be knitting a few pair so I’ll definitely go back. They really do stock pretty much everything possum or opossum.
Blanche M — Google review
Opossum World is an interesting shop found along the Marina Parade that might be worth a stop for those interested in the history of opossums and how they came to be such a nuisance in New Zealand. As should be obvious, you can purchase a range of souvenirs and other products made opossum fur. At first, we thought this was a bit like the Merino wool shops you can find around New Zealand. However, in addition to the opossum fur products, you will find some general information relating to how the opossums where introduced to New Zealand and the ecological problems that have caused. This makes a nice element to visiting Opossum World. We had no idea there were 70 million wild opossums in NZ now. In the end, Opossum World is not your typical souvenir shop. Items felt a bit pricey but we enjoyed learning more about the opossum situation during our stop here. In this regard, we found this an interesting shop to consider visiting in Napier.

I was certain I would find something here as they easily have thousands of items, but because there’s so much, it was difficult to wade through it all to find quality pieces. Many jewellery items in the cases at the front wouldn’t qualify as antiques. All items are labeled and overall seemed like good prices. Wonderful, creative space in a relaxing part of Napier. Not only is the gallery as lovely as it looks it the images, it is beautiful in person. Fill of so many dreamy items, for any taste. Have always enjoyed my interactions with the gorgeous ladies who work/own this dreamy gallery.

Nestled just 2.8 kilometers from Marine Parade, Hunter Home Napier is a delightful furniture store that truly stands out for its exceptional service and inviting ambiance. Visitors rave about the knowledgeable staff, particularly Karla Hocking, who goes above and beyond to assist customers with their needs while adding thoughtful touches to enhance the shopping experience. The contemporary furniture on display is not only of high quality but also beautifully designed, making it a must-visit destination for anyone looking to elevate their home decor.
We had extremely good service by Karla Hocking who was very knowledgeable on the products, swift to arrange our requests and purchases. She also took the time and had the knack of pulling a room together with the finer details (which was beyond me). The furniture is what I consider to be contemporary, great quality and very very nice. I wish this shop was my first stop as it would’ve saved me a lot of time.

Do not buy the Luscious Suite or any luxury feather couch from Hunter Home. 12months on we still have feathers shedding to the point the cushions are misshapen and we must tidy feathers up every day. The base cover detaches and the base cushions walk off the front of the couch everyday. I have spent the last 8months regularly chasing the After Sales team & Regional Mngr still with no resolution. I've been told we should have expected that every day we must take every cushion off, tuck in the base cover, fluff every cushion & clean up feathers. Save yourself a lot of money & disappointment and shop round the corner at Big Save Furniture, at least they stand by the quality of their products.
