The Tides Wharf & Restaurant is a casual seafood spot offering picturesque views of Bodega Bay through its large windows. In addition to serving delicious seafood, the restaurant also features a gift shop and fish market. It's a popular destination for locals, Bay Area residents, and international travelers alike. The restaurant is known for its Dungeness crab dishes, including crab cakes, cocktails, sandwiches, salads, chowders, and cioppino.
This is a good place to visit. The restrooms are always clean. There's a gift shop with all kinds of books and shirts and hoodies, hats and sea items. There's a mini mart with fish products, wine, sodas, chips, jerky and other stuff to eat. There's a restaurant in the back overlooking the water. It has a bar in the restaurant over to one side. Lots to choose from in the menu. There's a snack bar on the other side of the building that you could order almost the same food. My partner and I ate there and ordered the bread bowl, fish and chips with onion rings and a soda. Everything was restaurant quality and very delicious. Out on the dock there were some sea lions getting some rays. You can spend some time doing things here. Good visit!

Lovely spot for lunch. Every table has a view of the bay. Love that they brought crusty sourdough to the table. The crab caeser came with a generous mound of crab and tiny but tasty seasoned croutons. They serve a thick and clammy clam chowder. I thought the crab sandwich was a tad dry but it was still enjoyable. Service was excellent.

I stop here every once in awhile (mostly because I'm local and I love being near the coast, and this restaurant offers a water front view), and I'm always pleasantly surprised by the personable experience with the folks behind the bar - the staff here are super friendly. I really enjoyed my time here and am very appreciative for the level of service and, to be honest, expertise that is present here. It takes a lot of energy and dedication to do well in an environment that asks one to multi-task! (Way to go, Helen!). Thank you so much for an experience that put a smile on my face. With so much love ❤️

We had breakfast and dinner there but nothing really stood out to us except the atmosphere. First off, the Continental breakfast was really bad. We ordered it because it came with our hotel booking. The croissant tasted like an old piece from grocery stores, worse than the croissant we got the night before from The Bird cafe nearby. The muffin tasted way worse and I had to put it aside after just one bite. If you ever get a free breakfast coupon from the hotel across from it, pls do yourself a favor. Just ditch it and order something else. For dinner, we had shrimp pasta and red snapper with rice. The pasta was more salty than elsewhere but strangely it didn't have that creamy, garlicky flavor with a hint of herbal and tomatoes mix. It was salty and bland. Weird. The snapper didn't have much taste either. We ordered grilled snapper but it didn't have any taste of grill, and I had to add more black pepper to spice it up, which I never did in the restaurant. Our server, however, was very nice. We also got a nice window seat, which had a five star view of the bay, sunset, and seals swimming by.
Shuli — Google review
Came on a Monday for brunch with girlfriends at the end of a coastal girls trip. We were seated right away by the window, which feels like you're on the water. Staff were so warm and friendly, and service was quick. We all ordered their seafood and eggs brunch, and the fish quality was exceptional. Very flavorful and huge portions as well. There are plenty of tables inside, and the space is comfortable. We'd definitely come back on our next coastal drive.
Sammi — Google review
The restaurant is right on the bay with large viewing windows. We were delighted to see seals swimming right by our window! The service was excellent and the food was amazing.
Debbie Z — Google review
I've been here at The Tides. This time around I was disappointed. First, they sit us which at first I thought was a beautiful view. But only to be attacked by a swam of flies..I mean 1 fly is too many but I couldn't count the swam because they were all over the window. We asked to be moved, they seated us completely opposite side of the restaurant. You would have thought we were hiding because it took them a while to find us. We ordered the seafood platter for 2, Chowder. Chowder was just ok, the platter was a huge disappointment. The oysters were the star although it was missing a serving of mignonette, dungeness crab looked like shredded crab. I had to mixed it up with the seafood sauce in order to add flavor. I had to ask saltine crackers to step it up. Lobster pieces were just ok, prawns were shrimpy no flavor, rubbery.
Eva B — Google review
I've been a fan of this place for a number of years. The food , the atmosphere , and the people. Second to none ! I recently returned... Almost wish I hadn't! The place has lost the classy appeal it once had starting with the food and working it's way down from there . None of their menu featured items from my recollection of the past are there anymore. What i ended up settling for was a huge disappointment! But I'll leave it at that. No need to get nasty here...but talk about NASTY!!! My recommendation? Go across the street.

Bodega Head, located in Bodega Bay, offers a picturesque peninsula with stunning ocean views and whale watching opportunities. The area features a popular hiking trail along the cliff, providing visitors with a chance to admire the rugged beauty of the Sonoma Coast. With trails like the Bodega Head Trail and the longer Bodega Dunes Trail, there are options for hikers of all levels.
Great hike, please be aware it's a very large area with many cliffs that are very steep. Please watch your step but enjoy the cooling mist. Best enjoyed on an overcast day.
Kevin L — Google review
You must keep your children close as the trail follows the edge of the top of Bodega Head. Their are no guardrails and its a long way down to fall onto the rocks below. There are plenty of warning signs at the beginning of the trail. It is also steep & gravelly in areas. So you are prone to slide. Its about 4-5 mile hike plus trails go off to the left with no trail directions. Eventually you will come out at the upper parking lot and walk dkwn the road to the lower lot. Views are gorgeous. Plenty of birdsongs. Very nice view of Doran Regional park from Bodega Head.

Bodega Bay’s got that wild NorCal charm—crinkled coastlines hugging the ocean and golden grass hills that glow in the afternoon sun.
Grace L — Google review
Beautiful views of the coast. Easy hiking trails to many different scenic overlooks. Able to get fantastic photos here.
Kevin K — Google review
After years of visiting Bodega Bay this is my first time going to Bodega head. I can’t believe a I’ve missed this place. It’s such a great area for a picnic, hiking and access to watching whales. I’m floored that I’ve missed coming here earlier. Huge parking lot, bathrooms, garbage cans and places to sit and watch the waves. It can get a little windy but is a great place to relax.
Liz K — Google review
This area has the coooolest coastal hike, and you can totally make it your own with all the little trails and offshoots throughout! Sweeping views of the coast, ocean, beaches, and town of Bodega Bay. We had the best time - hiked for about two hours (a slow hike with lots of photo breaks and lots of digging in the sand on the beach 😊). Would absolutely recommend making this a stop on your trip!
Lucia P — Google review
My wife and I have been coming here for years, and the view never gets old. The experience is refreshing and delightful every visit. The parking lot can be extremely crowded, but the trails and the beach are always a pleasurable and seemingly secluded adventure to relax and enjoy the endless views of the Pacific. The beach can be sketchy to get to, but is never crowded and as long as the tides are out it's a wonderful time.
Chad C — Google review
World famous whale watching site. Northward migration is starting now, so head out there if you can. In addition to the whales, you can see harbor seals, sea lions and sometimes otters swimming by. Also a great birding location. Easy access, parking, and restrooms, but you might want to avoid weekend days when it is super hot inland because it gets way too crowded.

Campground
Doran Regional Park in Bodega Bay is a popular destination offering over two miles of sandy shoreline, a boat launch, and fish cleaning station. The park features a campground and various hiking trails, including connections to the Bird Walk Coastal Access Trail. Visitors can enjoy activities like picnicking, kite flying, surfing, and bird-watching on the wide beach. The area is known for its wildlife sightings, including seals in their natural habitat.
I used to live near Doran Beach, and we would go there every chance we got. I can’t fully describe the beauty of this place...it’s absolutely stunning, especially during the sunsets and sunrises. It’s also enjoyable to hang out near the jetty, where you can watch people fishing and crabbing. I’ve camped here a few times, and although it gets super cold at night, it’s completely worth it to wake up early and see the sunrise. It’s peaceful and breathtaking.

Day use parking is $8.00 we spent the day at Duran. It was quite busy and a lot of people had their dogs too. Great place to walk on the beach and play in the sand. The restroom were fairly clean.
Melissa H — Google review
We found a quiet beach called Salmon Creek. So beautiful! There is a couple paths to get down from parking areas. Outhouse style restrooms in the parking area as well. Lots of gulls and folkart made from items of the beach here. Very fun to explore!
Amanda M — Google review
This was my first trip to northern California. This is a very cool park on the bay. Bring a jacket though, we were her in mid-June, and the breeze was still chilly!
Gary B — Google review
An interesting, spacious, and laid-back park. The loop trail and scenery are perfect for biking. Spotted lots of RVs filled with families, kids, and happy pets
Grace L — Google review
Beautiful beach. I actually liked it better than Bodega Bay. Water is quite shallow and some people were swimming in it. Make sure to include Nick’s Cove in your visit.
Andreas H — Google review
This is a beautiful beach and well run county park. The entrance fee is reasonable 🙂

Seafood restaurant
Restaurant
Spud Point Crab Company is a family-owned cafe that has been serving award-winning clam chowder and fresh seafood sandwiches since 2004. Situated on the Bodega coast, this cozy spot offers picturesque water views, making it an ideal place to savor delicious seafood while enjoying the breezy cliffs of the bay. The Anello family, with a deep-rooted history in the local fishing industry, catches their own crabs to ensure top-notch quality.
Famous for a reason — delicious, but expect a wait I found this place through Google and ChatGPT recommendations for the best crab sandwiches and clam chowder — and it lived up to the hype! There’s no need for a reservation, but there’s always a line. During our visit, the line never got shorter — it’s a very popular spot. Service is counter-style: you order at the window, get your food, and then try to find a place to eat nearby. There are a few tables and some standing spots, but seating is very limited, especially if you’re with kids. We ended up eating at a standing table, which wasn’t very comfortable. A good option is to take your food to the nearby waterfront — there are benches and a nice walking area — or grab it to-go if you’re local. Now the food — absolutely delicious! We tried both the red and traditional clam chowder — each one had its own unique flavor and was totally worth it. Prices are a bit higher than average, but it’s understandable given the location’s popularity and reputation. In short: Fantastic chowder and crab sandwiches, iconic local spot, but come prepared for crowds and limited seating. Still 100% worth the visit!
Kateryna S — Google review
Got there early around 11 AM and luckily beat the crowd! They were only serving the white clam chowder today 😓 Definitely coming back to try the red one next time. The chowder was super tasty, but the seafood sandwich could really use some veggies to balance the favor 🥰 Love the vibe around the sea!
Grace L — Google review
I have been coming here for crab sandwiches and white clam chowder for the last 20 or so years since I was a kid. The people are friendly and they get the food out to you quick! Depending on what time you arrive there is potential for a line. If you follow the road past the restaurant and up the curve, you have a beautiful view of the ocean and some tables up there to eat. They also have seating at the restaurant. I will eat here as long as they are in business!!! When I have kids I'd love to continue on the tradition and take them here.
Sara C — Google review
The best clam chowder in town! I like both the New England-style and the Manhattan-style clam chowder they offer here. Both are very yummy. The New England clam chowder tastes better than most other restaurants. The Manhattan clam chowder is tomato-based. It is very delicious, and I feel that it is healthy. Lol! There is a long line on most weekends and holidays, but the line is usually shorter before 11:00 a.m. On the weekends, they have crab cakes after 1:00 p.m. Parking is no problem. There is a parking lot a few hundred feet from the restaurant or another bigger parking lot across the street with a short walk.
Michael W — Google review
Spud Point Crab Company is absolutely worth the wait. The lines were long, but once we got our food, it was clear why—it was delicious. The crab sandwich was packed with fresh, sweet crab meat and just the right amount of seasoning. The clam chowder was equally impressive—rich and flavorful without being too heavy, with just the right level of creaminess. Everything tasted fresh and homemade. It’s a no-frills spot, but they focus on doing a few things really, really well. If you’re in the area, this place is a must.
Peter F — Google review
We were so excited to come here but unfortunately experienced the ultimate let down. We were in Bodega around NYE but couldn’t sacrifice the wait time for the food. So when we came back over Labor Day we decided to make a stop. The clam chowder was great! Not sure if it was worth the 1hr wait to get it though because it tasted similar to other chowders around Bodega Bay. By the time we got to the counter the outdoor tables were closed for the day so we had to take our food home. We also grabbed a $20 crab sandwich which was NOT worth it. They put a decent amount of crab on a Safeway hoggie roll and called it good. No butter, lemon juice or mayo to make it edible. No spices. Just straight crab and hoggie. Worst sandwich we’ve had in a long time. Also parking is atrocious and there are not enough tables to even come close to handling the amount of people who waste their time stopping here. Would strongly suggest going elsewhere if you’re in the area.
Jennifer M — Google review
The crab sandwich and clam chowder were absolutely delicious!! I'm definitely thinking about coming back! The only downside was that a wasp kept flying around once we started eating, so we ended up packing everything and eating in the car 😐 Other than that, everything was great!
Yoo J — Google review
Amazingly good chowder. Very nice staff. Only outdoor seating and it was rainy. Many people enjoyed their food in the cars. Narrowly averted popping tire in parking area

Had an awesome time by the fireplace with my son. The staff was super friendly, the service was great, and the food was delicious. My 5-year-old even loved the zucchini soup — and that says a lot! Cozy, welcoming, and perfect for a night out.

Drake's is a beautiful restaurant with an amazing location overlooking the ocean. Our server was very nice. There were 6 of us, 3 couples. I was looking forward to some good clam chowder, but it wasn't on the menu. We were told you could get chowder anywhere. For the price we weren't impressed with the food. The pork chop is huge. That was a plus but lacked flavor. Our friends liked their ribeye and halibut. I hope this was just a 1 off for us, and you find it to be amazing.
Lemmie K — Google review
Today, my family and I had the wonderful opportunity to visit this restaurant. We had reserved a table in advance for my wife and me. From the very beginning, we were pleasantly surprised by the level of professionalism shown by both the host and our waiter. The pleasant atmosphere and the stunning view from the restaurant's window perfectly complemented the food, which was prepared to the highest standard. A big thank you to our waiter, Thomas, for his high level of professionalism and knowledge of the menu. All the food was served sequentially and on time, allowing us to enjoy each dish. Thank you for the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful view from the window while tasting the delicious dishes prepared for us. We sincerely recommend that you visit this restaurant at least once if you are in the area. Best wishes to everyone.

We've been in Bodega Bay for a week and finally found a great place to wine and dine!! Everything was perfect, including the servers who were friendly, normal people! Only things that could improve are the beer choices (husband not a fan of microbrews in general) and dessert choices.
Maureen — Google review
Probably one of the rudest bartenders we’ve encountered- he had zero interest in smiling, being welcoming or offering options or alternatives. Food was great. Any cocktails on the menu are pre mixed so bizarrely.
Heather K — Google review
Yikes. Saw the host inside and was told patio was open seating. Sat with my family for close to 40 minutes, being oddly ignored as others sat and were tended to. We were not even acknowledged. After the table next to us was served, we were then weirdly ignored again, so we left. We went up the street to celebrate my daughter’s birthday instead and had wonderful service and food. I would avoid Drake’s unless you want to get treated like trash.

Inn
Bodega Harbor Inn offers a relaxed stay with simple rooms and private cottages overlooking the harbor. The inn provides free Wi-Fi and a serene atmosphere for nature lovers. Guests can choose between staying in the traditional rooms at the inn or opting for more private cottages along the coast of Bodega Bay. The area is known for its natural beauty, situated at the intersection of tectonic plates and forming part of a national marine sanctuary.
April 2025 Our first time staying here. We stayed in room #1. We love this historic Inn. Our room had a very comfortable bed, and was quiet. The sloping floors and general un-squareness of the room added to its charm. All the staff we interacted with were very nice. The Wi-fi in room #1 is rather hit and miss. If you can not live without being connected you might try another room. One thing that would be great would be to have "top-down, bottom-up blinds". That way one could enjoy the view with some privacy. We are so happy we are working up some more reasons to visit Bodega bay in the future.
Dan C — Google review
Were in a suite with two bedrooms (shared one awkward bathroom space) and a "living room". Room was clean, baseboard heaters seemed to work decently in one room and barely at all in another. Location was right off the road, however road noise wasn't a concern. Plenty of outdoor seating for watching the bay.
James B — Google review
We stayed here for one night on a road trip up the California coast, while it is not the most glamorous accommodation in Bodega Bay, it is quaint and very good value for the area, with a nice lawn overlooking the bay. We stayed in Room 3. The room was good sized, very clean and had a comfortable king-size bed. The staff working there were very friendly and helpful. Overall, a good experience and we would stay here again.
Krista F — Google review
I love the people and this place. I look forward to both when I can make it out here. Jen and George are not together but they are both such awesome hosts and people that I've become a lucky member of their friendship. This place is not for a stuck up snob that believes they deserve large brand new modern areas that can withhold their ego. But it is for people that appreciate a cozy place to rest their head and body, ready to navigate another day with the spirit of the sea that nozzles their door. I think this place is as perfect as the beach, and that's why I always come back here. 💯
Diosa M — Google review
Kind of quaint. The gravel walkways are a little treacherous but give you a sense of camping. The room was clean and nice. The television didn't work, they fixed it and then it stopped working again. Sounded like it was a common problem here. The coffee pot is probably still trying to brew that pot of coffee. I started. The view is nice but obstructed by lots of power lines.
Chuck H — Google review
We had a good experience. Rooms are solid, a bit older, but everything works and is clean. We stopped for a spontaneous overnight stay and can only recommend this place. The receptionist gave us such a great recommendation for a nearby restaurant.
Sebastian — Google review
Great spot for a night while driving down the coast. Old school travel lodge vibe where you can back your car up to your room. Bay view overlook area is nice.
C W — Google review
We booked the Harbor Cottage last minute. The gentleman running the front desk was nice and helpful. Got us set up quickly at 7pm! I didn’t see pictures beforehand so I was a little surprised at what we got for $300. It’s a small room. Like another review said, there was no AC. Only one window had a screen on it out of three. There is a slight view of the bay from the window/sitting area. The kitchenette is cute and functional with everything you could need. We enjoyed the hot tub , although it didn’t feel very private because the fence is low towards the street. I just felt like overall it wasn’t very clean. Some towels had hairs and stains. The bathroom shower was kind of dirty and the toilet paper holder was falling off… Surface level it looked okay but felt dingy in the details. For the price and the experience we had, I would not stay in this specific cottage again.

Guests have enjoyed riding horses with great personalities such as Chief, Victor, Wrangler, Dante, CJ, Shorty, and Kahlua.
This was an amazing experience. The traffic in the area right now it sucks so they really should have you sign forms down where the horses are but the trail was great the horses were well behaved and we all had a great time.

What a great way to go horseback riding for the first time. My nephew and I loved it. Thanks for guiding us, Hannah. And thanks for the rides Victor and Tank!

Took my wife here for her birthday. She cannot stop reminiscing about our ride together & neither could I! The views are beautiful & I enjoyed watching my wife have fun in the sun with these awesome horses. We bonded with Quinn & Skeeter the kindest horses you’ll meet. Kasey was our guide and she shared fun facts & had us feel like we’re pros! Definitely recommend this place for your first time! Or everytime!

The only regret I have is not taking enough photos & videos lol I had a time! Kasey was our guide & we loved her! She was very informative about the horse’s personalities. She stopped by the beach to take beautiful photos of us & she’s just a chill person overall & we love that! Take pictures & videos!! I can’t stop looking back on ours & I wish I wasn’t so shy about taking them lol I definitely recommend if you’re a first timer come here the views are beautiful, the colors were so freaking pretty I loved everything about it. The vibe is so calming. As a mother of 5 I definitely appreciated the calm & peace of this experience. My husband did his big one booking this for my birthday! I can’t wait to come back!

What an awesome experience! Both my husband and I were beginning riders, and Addy, our guide, helped us feel comfortable while getting the hang of riding. Going through the dunes was beautiful, and then the beach was gorgeous, too! We also ended up having to move our ride to another day due to weather, and Sarahbeth was very flexible and responsive in getting another time figured out. 100% would recommend!

If you haven’t been to Horse N Around Trail Rides, you’re missing out on something special. Our guide, Shirley, was phenomenal, and the horses, Chief and Victor, had great personalities and were a lot of fun. Booking online was fast and easy, and the next day I received a confirmation with detailed information, pictures, and a link to directions that led directly to the check-in location. All staff members were professional and very personable. It was a great experience, and I will definitely go back!

Horse N Around Trail Rides is another option for those looking to explore trails and beaches on a cattle ranch by offering private and group rides suitable for riders of all levels.
Took my Daughter and Granddaughter's to ride today at Chanslor Ranch. The "little slice of heaven" ocean view ride ( 1 hour) was spectacular! The horse's were awsome and our guide Lauren was fantastic. Epic memory for all of us! Great staff and fabulous horse's. I am an avid equestrian myself and loved it. Thumbs ups 👍🐴

We came with my friends for the public beach ride. Ramiro was very friendly and accomodated a change in start time (we were scheduled early in the morning but was able to move our ride to later in the day). He assigned our horses based on our experience level and we started the ride promptly. Ramiro shared riding trips with us throughout the ride, and took multiple pictures and videos of us. He adapted the ride to our preferences and made sure everyone had a great experience. Highly recommend. Thanks Ramiro!

Chanslor Ranch, Thank you so much for the amazing experience with my daughter for her 10th birthday! Not only was the ride and views absolutely breathtaking and amazing but the horses were so sweet and good. All the staff was super sweet and helpful. I recommend this ranch to anyone 😊

What a wonderful time my Wife, Friends and I had. Cat was our guide with her helper (I forgot her name, Ashley?). We scheduled the group ride on the beach and we were not disappointed at all. We were greeted with a friendly smile and awesome attitude before we were told what horse we'd be riding. A quick drive down the road before we mounted our horses and away we went. The horses were very friendly and easy to ride with zero issues. Both guides were nice enough to take lots of pictures and share with us at the end of the ride, we really apricated that! Over all the experience was absolutely perfect and I would recommend Chanslor Stables to anyone looking for a life changing experience for any level of riding with friendly folks to guide the way. Hands down one of the best experiences I've ever had.

Had a great time on the trail! Cheyenne and Z were amazing guides that were very kind and knowledgeable. My horse Sarge was sweet and gentle, great for a first time rider. Beautiful views that are really special to see on horseback.
Laura K — Google review
Our guide, Cheyenne, was very kind, knowledgeable about the individual horses, trails, and general horseback riding, and fun! The trail was absolutely beautiful. I had the horse named Sarge and he did great and was very sweet. Timber (the dog, lol) was so sweet and helped calm my nerves before the ride (first time rider here!). I highly recommend this place, you won't regret it!

Terrapin Creek in Bodega Bay is a casual neighborhood eatery that offers locally sourced American and world cuisine. The restaurant, owned by chef-couple Andrew Truong and Liya Lin, impresses with its innovative dishes like charred octopus salad and Akaushi wagyu strip steak. Despite its unassuming ambiance, the restaurant serves impeccably prepared seafood-focused dishes along with options for chicken and steak lovers.
Terrapin Creek is a fantastic spot! We loved their fresh, seasonal menu – everything tasted amazing. The vibe is super chill and the service was friendly without being overbearing. Definitely a must-try if you're in the Bodega Bay area for a relaxed, delicious meal.

Normally we pass through Bodega Bay early afternoons, but we took a short vacation here which allowed us to explore. Terrain popped up on Google maps so I made a reservation. It was a delightful experience. We started with the Octopus and roasted cauliflower. The octopus was tender and the cauliflower was roasted perfectly. We followed up with the corn soup which is a don't miss if it's on the menu. Creamy taste of fresh corn. It has a jalapeño oil which isn't spicy, but adds a little something special. For entrees we had the fresh pasta and the rib eye. My rib eye was a perfect mid rare, very tender. The mashed potatoes was luscious. The brocollini was cooked tender, and still had a good bite. I tried the pasta which was homemade and really enjoyed that. The portions were big enough we didn't quite finish, but we made room for the sourdough bread pudding with roasted peaches. So soft and tender, warm and gooey in all the right ways. It made me like bread pudding which I didn't think was possible. If you're in the area, just make a reservation and go.

Terrapin Creek was worth every penny. My Wife and I went here 2 nights in a row. First night I had the pork chop ( best pork chop I’ve ever had). Wife had the Duck. ( also the best duck I’ve had at a restaurant. We had scallops as an appetizer and Ceaser salad. Scallops were cooked perfectly. Salad was probably the only thing I wouldn’t rate as a 5⭐️. The second night I had the Steak and Wife had the fish stew. ( both were delicious) We also tried the corn soup which was a corn purée with jalapeño oil. Great soup and the jalapeño oil adds a nice flavor. Service was incredible, ambience was great. You could get dressed up but you could also go there with casual attire and not feel out of place. All around a really great restaurant with amazing food. The passion fruit cheesecake is a must try. Extremely good food with service to match.

A true culinary gem in the area! The food was spectacular and the service was impeccable. The most impressive part? When we mentioned we were sharing dishes, they thoughtfully split and plated everything for us individually. It's a small touch of class that made a huge difference. Highly recommend!

Loved the food! Sea food and lovely local selections. We love a small menu where you don’t have 39 options but rather handpicked, focused dishes with taste and deep expertise. We tried oysters, a fresh salad with feta and peaches, halibut and homemade pasta as well as a sourdough bread pudding. Just excellent! Felt a bit elevated without being snobby. I would recommend making a reservation.
Sebastian — Google review
We didn't know the place was so popular and walked in without a reservation. But we got lucky and got a seat because someone canceled! It's a cute little restaurant with nice views and artwork for sale on their walls, which was quite interesting. The server was very professional and good at his job (definitely 5 stars for him) and food was really good too! We had their seasonal asparagus salad, pork chop, fish stew, and sourdough bread pudding. All were very good except the clams in my stew had sand in them. I had to spit out quite a few of them :( But it was still a pleasant experience overall and I would recommend it if you want fancy dinner in the area!
Yeonhwa S — Google review
We had the duck rib eye med rare. Dessert was the delicious bread pudding.
Sean B — Google review
We have been wanting to come here for a while! It did not disappoint. The scallops were amazing and you must get them if you go! We definitely enjoyed the crab cake and crudo of hamachi as well. Our favorite main course was the pasta, there were so many flavors and the sausage was amazing. The seafood stew was not our favorite compared to our other mains, the Alaskan halibut was to die for!! We got a cheesecake to go as well, and it was great, all the desserts look so good. The owners are so sweet, and friendly. This is definitely on the pricey side though for pretty small portions, but it is great quality.

Fishetarian Fish Market is a waterfront market in Bodega Bay that has gained recognition for its exceptional seafood and friendly service. The establishment offers a variety of seafood favorites, including fish and chips, clam chowder, grilled fish tacos, and Dungeness crab sandwiches with sweet potato fries. In addition to serving delicious meals, the market also sells fresh seafood for those looking to prepare their own dishes at home.
Found this place online and it did not disappoint! The clam chowder sourdough bread bowl was amazing! The fish/ prawn and sweet potato fries were also really good! I would definitely recommend! They also have picnic tables right beside the water- we were lucky enough to see 4 seals! They have 2 options for ordering- kiosk outside or inside at the counter.

Recently stopped here for lunch on our way up the coast and was great! We ordered the fish tacos and the crab sandwich with sweet potato fries. The fish tacos were delicious, the battered fish was tasty and so fresh. The crab sandwich was also good, with a generous amount of crab in the sandwich! Atmosphere is nice with patio tables outside situated by the bay. Definitely will make another stop in here next time for some chowder!
Jen C — Google review
We had a lobster roll and calamari with chips. The lobster roll was stuffed full and tasty. The calamari was cooked well, but the breading didn't stick to well. It was good enough to order again. It was 6pm on a Wednesday evening and was busy, but didn't have a long wait for food. No real service, but it was clean. There's seating inside and out. Go past the doors for tables by the water. It was tourist expensive. $80 for the two items and two bottles of tea.

Some of the best clam chowder I've ever had! Perfectly balanced flavors - sometimes I have a hard time finishing chowder because it's too creamy but this was just right! Bonus points for the house made hot sauce that pairs sooo well with the chowder. The sourdough was also incredibly fresh! We ate outside overlooking the bay which was awesome. Highly recommend!

A Must-Visit in Bodega Bay! We absolutely loved our meal at Fishetarian! Every bite was incredible — from the fresh, flavorful fish tacos to the creamy clam chowder bread bowl that hit the spot on a coastal day. The garlic oysters were perfectly cooked and packed with flavor, and we loved washing it all down with their ice-cold bottled sodas. And don’t even get me started on dessert — the brownie bar was rich and fudgy, and the raspberry cheesecake was the perfect sweet finish. The staff was friendly, the ocean breeze set the perfect vibe, and everything tasted as fresh as it gets. If you’re anywhere near Bodega Bay, do yourself a favor and stop at Fishetarian — it’s coastal comfort food at its best!
Jenna L — Google review
This place is tricky to rate. The food is overall solid, with the Lobster Roll being the clear standout—one of the best I’ve had, with buttery bread and generous lobster. The Clam Chowder was tasty but not memorable, and the Fish & Chips didn’t quite live up to the hype. The real challenge here is logistics. Parking is tough—both the lot and nearby streets are packed. Seating is limited (a handful indoors, mostly outdoors), so we ended up ordering to-go, which still took about an hour. The packaging is nice, though the stylish disposable cutlery could use more functionality. On the plus side, their branded merchandise—hoodies, totes, tumblers—looks great, even if browsing is tough with the constant crowd. If you’re patient and manage expectations, it’s worth it for the lobster roll alone.

Looking for an affordable place to eat while visiting Bodega Bay? This is one of couple of choices. Friendly staff, good food, easy to order and outside eating. It can be chilly so bring a jacket while you eat the delicious food. If you are looking for an ocean view, sorry this place does not offer that so you can take the food to car in the parking lot to give you a view of the bay or sit on the couple of benches which are nearby to sit and enjoy the view.
Tim G — Google review
We came to Fishetarian on a Saturday around 2pm for lunch on a coastal girls weekend road trip. Ordering at the kiosks was straightforward, and we were able to get a picnic table outside by the water. It's a popular stop, so we waited a bit for food, by it's so nice just sitting by the water. There is ample outdoor seating from the waterfront tables to the tented area and side of the restaurant. We split the calamari and barbecued oysters, and I tried the chowder and ordered the fish tacos for myself. Everything was so fresh and flavorful, definitely worth the wait. I ended up falling in love with their hot sauce and brought multiple bottles home. Would definitely stop here again on our next road trip north.

Gourmet Au Bay is a relaxed coastal-style wine bar located at Porto Bodega Marina, offering wood-fired cuisine and an eclectic wine cellar. The restaurant boasts a waterfront deck with beautiful ocean views, providing the perfect setting to savor exquisite seafood while watching the working fishing dock nearby. Guests can enjoy a flight of wine served on a mini surfboard, along with oysters and wood-fired pizza to share.
A Coastal Culinary Gem: Chef Austin O’Donnell’s Magic at Gourmet Au Bay Nestled along Bodega Bay’s picturesque shoreline, Gourmet Au Bay delivers an extraordinary dining experience under Chef Austin O’Donnell’s talented guidance. Chef Austin’s passion was immediately evident as he shared stories about his Napa Valley roots and commitment to farm-to-table ingredients. Randy and I started with perfectly fresh oysters, followed by the Hummus Mezze with house-made pita bread – pillowy inside with just the right char outside. The Beet Salad featured vibrant beets from Soda Canyon alongside foraged greens from Minor Winery, with whipped feta, pistachios, and vadouvan vinaigrette creating perfect harmony. On Chef Austin’s recommendation, we tried the crab roll on his unique milk bread – a revelation of textures and flavors. The highlight was the Smoked Clam pizza, wood-fired to perfection with clams, garlic, olive oil, parsley, and Parmigiano – satisfying my seafood craving perfectly. Though typically not dessert-inclined, the carrot bread with Shasta Plum preserves and pistachio meringue had me practically licking the bowl clean. Chef Austin’s ability to transform locally sourced ingredients into memorable dishes speaks to both his technical skill and deep understanding of flavors. His Napa Valley background shines through in every thoughtful preparation. A special thank you to Chef Sebastian from The Garden at Tannery Bend Beer Works for recommending this hidden gem with its dog-friendly patio and panoramic views. We will certainly be back and encourage others to support this incredible gem in Bodega Bay – a place where exceptional food, warm service, and coastal charm come together perfectly. #GourmetAuBay #BogedaBayDining #ChefAustinODonnell #FarmToTable #CoastalCuisine #NapaValleyRoots #WoodFiredOven #LocalSeafood #LobsterRoll #SmokedClamPizza #BodegaBayGem #DogFriendlyPatio #WineCountry #NorthernCaliforniaEats #FoodieDestination #OceanViewDining #FreshOysters #BeetSalad #HousemadePita #SonomaCoast #CaliforniaCuisine #TanneryBendBeerWorks #CulinaryGem #MustVisitRestaurant

We were really disappointed with the paella. The portion was more like an appetizer or small entrée rather than a main dish, especially for the $25 price tag. It came with just five small shrimp and a single piece of fish, and unfortunately, it lacked the richness and depth you’d expect from an authentic Spain paella. Definitely not worth the price.

Really nice food, surprisingly well composed given the causal atmosphere. Excellent vegan options (4 dishes either are or can easily be made vegan without compromising flavor altho many omit key ingredients). In what is otherwise a near complete dead zone for even vegan options this place offers many and delicious ones with a great local beer and wine list and very friendly staff.

Very kind, very professional. Amazing views. Great local wine list and the chefs always do a great job in their Wood-Fired ovens. A nice refuge to the otherwise tourist traps. Great alternative to enjoy the afternoon or evening with a small bite and a glass of wine.

Too expensive for the portions they serve! Average price of food per person is above $30. We’ve been here many times but we will not return. Serving was poor. We ordered the fish and the crab sandwich. The fish came first. Both orders were not served at the same time, and when the sandwich was served it came without the chips. We had to wait for the chips over 20 minutes. To our surprise the chips portion was astonishing small. The whole table ordered three orders of chips. The three portions practically came out of one potato! That small! For $32 I expected more!!

I’ve been wanting to check out this cafe for a while now and today was the day. I liked that we could order at the window. This is not a vegetarian friendly place- nachos seem to be the only option. The prices are fair and the portions generous. It was a gorgeous day so we took in the sun and dined on their patio with a view. My son had the brisket sandwich- plenty of meat on it and he said it was tasty. I had the fish tacos- they were full with a lot of fish although the fish was a bit dry. I ordered a mimosa and let me tell you it could have been shared with two other people. I do not day drink much so ended up asking my son to drive us home. I’d like to return and try their breakfast menu sometime.

Ginochio’s Kitchen is a Hidden Gem in Bodega Bay! If you’re visiting Bodega Bay and looking for a place that delivers unforgettable flavor and warm hospitality, Ginochio’s Kitchen is a must! Their Brisket Breakfast is absolutely amazing—tender, smoky, and perfectly seasoned, it’s the kind of hearty start to the day that keeps you talking about it long after the last bite. But the real star? Their Clam Chowder. Hands down, 5 stars and without question the best in Bodega Bay. Creamy, rich, loaded with clams, and bursting with coastal flavor—it’s everything chowder lovers dream of. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, don’t miss this bowl of perfection. Great food, welcoming staff, and coastal charm—Ginochio’s Kitchen is what Bodega Bay tastes like!

There was no line, yet we waited 25 minutes just to get food that was clearly reheated — the brisket tasted microwaved, the potatoes were overcooked and flavorless, and everything was bland. Completely not worth the money. If you want to ruin your morning, have breakfast here

This was my first time visiting the winery. My mom and I enjoyed ourselves. My mom enjoyed herself too much. 😆 We loved the wines we tasted, so much so, I joined the wine club. 🍷Our host was Spencer, he was fantastic! I recommend visiting the winery when you are in Bodega Bay. Cheers!

We had an amazing experience here and are so glad we decided to stop in! The environment is coastal, fresh, spacious, and welcoming. There is ample indoor and outdoor seating. The wines were bright and crisp. They had chardonnay, sav blanc, rose, Pinot noir, and red blends. There were charcuterie boards for sale. Our host, Spencer, was SO accommodating, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic about the wines. We loved that he poured each one individually, sharing a bunch of info about how it was made. He also adjusted the tasting to fit our taste preferences. We loved it so much we joined the wine club and look forward to returning!

I was slightly under whelmed when we pulled up to Sonoma Coast - there were no grapes or vineyards to look at. However, the view was beautiful and the wine was amazing! Please ask for Randy! He made our time so much more pleasurable and loved his passion, knowledge and care for his craft. We ended up having several bottles delivered to our home and can’t wait to share with our friends.

Pinot Noir is not at the top of my preferred wine list, but the wine was decent with a surprise Chardonnay and a very nice Rhone style rose. The Pinots were not my fav but then as I said, not really my go to. On a beautiful day, it's a wonderful place for a tasting or just a glass of wine. I thought the charcuterie board was exceptional, with cheese from a local creamery, Valley Ford Creamery. All excellent cheeses.

Lovely spot to access views of Bodega Bay and the ocean. See seals and birds. Easy hike where you can choose various paths over the hills and coastline. We got there about 1230 on a Saturday and there was plenty of parking. There were a fair amount of people but it didn't feel crowded.

One of my favorite trails on the coast. We have been when it's sunny and foggy. We prefer the fog. It's such a different atmosphere when it is foggy. Something so beautiful about it. Either way, head to this place (no pun intended) if you are looking for a coastal trail. Plenty of parking but I would still recommend getting there before the afternoon. It gets pretty busy on the weekends. There are trails to the left and right of the parking lot. When it's a clear and sunny day in the winter/early summer it is a great spot to look for whales too! We haven't seen any ourselves but we would need to venture out there more.

These were all good quality and in particular the wetsuits were all good, not the torn up old ones you often get in rentals. And all the employees were pleasant, plus the place is very close to the Salmon Creek break. The only thing I would improve is that there werent many hardtops between 6' and 7'.

Rented a tandem and single kayaks for a half day. Bob gave the family a quick rundown on the basics and everyone had a great time!

Seeing the many good reviews surprised me based on our experience today. My husband and I stopped by as we passed through the area on a whim, and he wanted to get some sweatshirts. The shop keeper told us all clothes were 15% off. When he rang up the purchase, I was shocked the price was $143.60 for 2 sweatshirts. But we chalked it up to having high overhead to operate. When we got back to the hotel, I saw the price tags at $59:95 each, which is still a lot for a sweatshirt, but the shirts should have been $119.90 plus tax before the discount. So, the guy wayyy overcharged us on some made up price before applying the ‘discount.’ Shame on us for not looking at the price tags, and not questioning the total; and sadly, we paid cash, so we have no recourse. Caveat emptor to all who shop here, but I’d highly recommend finding another shop with honest shop keepers.
Dread R — Google review
The website stated they had hardtop longboards and shortboards to rent. They had neither. Only soft tops. I would have gone somewhere else if I had known. In addition, the price was about $10 more than stated on the website for both the board and wetsuit.

Whale watching tour agency
If you're seeking an unforgettable maritime experience along the stunning Northern California coastline, look no further than Sonoma Coast Adventures. This charter service offers a variety of excursions, from thrilling sportfishing to serene whale watching and picturesque sunset cruises. With an experienced crew led by Captain Mike and his skilled deckhand Vince, guests can expect a memorable journey on the pristine Pacific waters.
This was an incredible experience going out and catching some crab! Captain Mike was nothing short of wonderful! His deckhand Liam was also super helpful. They both treated us all like we were family. I would definitely recommend this if you are coming to visit Bodega Bay from out of the area… or a local looking to do something adventurous like we did!

My family had so much fun on our Harbor Cruse. My kids (age 9 and 12) had a blast exploring the boat and seeing all the wildlife. Mike was a great captain and took his time to answer my son’s questions and show him how the boat works. If you’re planning a trip to Bodega Bay, I highly recommend Sonoma Coast Adventures!

If you want to sit back, relax, and watch, the crew will do what they can to make sure you don’t go home empty handed!

Wonderful crew, captain Mike and his wife Shauna are very accommodating, fun and knowledgeable people. We loved Skip! He is funny and well behaved. We took a Harbour cruise and had gorgeous views and watched seals playing and tumbling around. May 24/2025: We went on a second Harbour cruise today with our grandkids and their parents. It was fantastic! The grandkids loved it too. Perfect day and family adventure!!!

I went on a half day crab trip on the Shawna Lee. I heard the crabbing had been slow in Bodega, but Captain Mike had his string on a honey hole. We had our limit of jumbos in short order. Captain Mike has a lifetime of experience on the water, as does his deckhand Vince, former skipper of the Miss Anita. Super comfortable Sportfisher with flying bridge , superstar crew, and my buddy Skip the dog. I can’t wait to go after tuna with these guys.

I got this trip for my boyfriend and his sons for Christmas. They each caught their max and had an amazing time. They had so much fun! I wish I would have gone too. There’s always next time. The weather was perfect. Captain Mike and his crew worked hard to make it a great experience!
Heidi B — Google review
We had the most incredible whale watching experience with Captain Mike! He is very knowledgable about the local area and his passion for all things ocean made him a superb guide with many interesting stories to share. Because of his deep knowledge of whales, he was able to locate numerous groups of them and tell us about their underwater behaviors, we even got quite close up views of a few humpbacks! We were also very lucky to have Skip, the adorable silver Labrador onboard (he occasionally comes along if conditions are calm). The whole trip really exceeded our expectations. We absolutely recommend Captain Mike and Sonoma Coast Adventures if you're looking for a fun and interesting adventure!

My dad and I had a great time with Captain Mike on the boat! We did a 3-hr whale watching adventure complete with whales, seals, and all sorts of cool birds! Captain Mike was so informative about everything we were looking at, and took extra time to answer questions. Highly recommend!

Sonoma Coast State Park offers a rugged coastal experience with sandy beaches, picturesque headlands, and various outdoor activities such as swimming, camping, and picnicking. The Kortum Trail provides stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and runs along the coastline from Wrights Beach to Blind Beach. Visitors can enjoy birdwatching, spot sea lions or seals at certain times of the year, and even witness whale migrations during specific seasons.
Guys this place is absolutely beautiful. 10/10 am going again. Hiking, fishing, a nice drive with your people, it's defenently worth it. The weather isn't normally too hot, and there's often this mystical fog, especially in the mornings. You have your pick of beach way, rocks, etc. Or just drive a few minuts and youre in forests and hills.

Sonoma State Beach is nothing short of breathtaking. The coastline unfolds with dramatic beauty, rugged cliffs, rolling waves, and tide pools teeming with vibrant marine life. It is a place where nature speaks loudly yet peacefully. The tide pools are alive with wonder, offering an intimate glimpse into the ocean's delicate ecosystem. Sea stars, crabs, and anemones make this beach a living classroom for both the curious and the contemplative. Parking was surprisingly manageable, even during peak hours. Just be sure to plan ahead and arrive early if you want front row access to the more scenic entry points. Footwear and cleanup prep are essential. Bring an extra pair of shoes, a towel, and water to rinse off after exploring. The beach is clean but rugged, and the reward lies in being prepared. You can follow the main trails or carve out your own adventure along the coastline. There is a feeling of freedom here, a kind of quiet that invites you to explore, reflect, and just breathe. Highly recommended for nature lovers, photographers, and those seeking a reset from the noise of everyday life. Sonoma State Beach delivers the kind of beauty you carry with you long after the tide goes out.

Family time at the beach... lots of room but get there early as parking can be tough. Beautiful and clean beaches. Stay updated on the weather, it changes daily!

All the little stops on this coast are truly amazing. They are all so pretty and breathtaking. A definite must see on your trip.

Absolutely beautiful!! I would highly recommend the short hike around the park!! Loved how I could hear the sea lions but couldn’t see them!!
Alexis N — Google review
A huge park that contains several beaches with stunning views. It was very windy and foggy when we visited but still very beautiful.
Shuli — Google review
The beauty of this cruise along the coast is the herd of deer. The ratio of males to females are equal in that the growth of the flock is steadily growing.
Nora R — Google review
Take the time to come visit this location and enjoy some amazing views of the Pacific coastline. You can do a small easy walk or get crazy and do a challenging hike in this area for even more wonderful sightseeing. I highly recommend you take the time to stop into Fishermans Cove, located at 1850 Bay Flat Road for some delicious Halibut and Chips. The clam chowder was pretty good as well.

Embark on a morning adventure at Pinnacle Gulch Trail in Bodega Bay, a hidden gem within the Bodega Harbour golf course subdivision. This point-to-point trail leads to the beach and offers abundant wildlife sightings along the way. The one-mile walk through a narrow wooded gulch provides good exercise, but may not be suitable for young children due to its length and overgrown vegetation. Parking is available near the golf course with limited space.
We took the 1 mile route to the beach (signs are available).Took us about 20 minutes to get there. The beach is beautiful and this trail was 100% worth it. There are many steps in the beginning and end of the trail. Starfish, clams, and hermit crabs are at the beach as well.
Madina M — Google review
Beautiful variety of flowers and vegetation along the trail. Beautiful views, friendly people w their family, and fur babies. Beach is spectacular!
Jeni A — Google review
Keep an eye open for the sign about the beach then look for the parking lot which is easy to miss. Parking lot is small with two restrooms. One restroom door does not lock. It is a small hike on a week maintained trail but the steps on parts of the trail tend to be deep. It is down hill to the beach into the gulch so keep that in mind when hiking back up. We saw deer, one snake, lots of birds, and plenty of vegetation. Once you hit the back, it's worth the hike. Keep an eye on the tides when visiting.
Tim G — Google review
It's a lot of good exercise! It's a point to point trail. There is no loop. It takes you to the beach. With a lot of wildlife on the way. If you start at this end, you can walk all the way down Doran Beach. We walk when we rent in the area. I don't think this is opened to the public. I haven't seen parking. There are security officers all over this place. Strict on parking. Only one side of the street and never in front of the ocean side!! You'll block the view! I'd rate this whole area a 10. I want to live here.
Penny S — Google review
Awesome little hike down to the beach. Not stroller, wagon, wheelchair or mobility challenged friendly, but it was a fun experience.
Jennifer G — Google review
I absolutely loved coming here! The entrance to the trail is right across from the little parking lot (which has bathrooms). The hike is a half a mile to the beach, easy on the way down and a little strenuous on the way back but not terrible. Wear proper shoes! Also, it’s the end of Feb, the day was beyond gorgeous high of 68 and I was wearing pants and a tank and the trail was hot on the way back around 1 PM, so have some water with you when you go and ya might want to consider wearing shorts depending when you go. When I was on the beach I was the only one there around 11 AM on a Tuesday morning. It started getting a little busier by early afternoon, so go early if you don’t want to be around a lot of people and want to get a parking spot in the little parking lot. I imagine the weekend is jam packed though. The trail is beautiful and the beach is beyond stunning! I walked a lot on the beach but had to climb and cross over lots of rocks to do so and there was a lot of star fish around the rocks, it was so cool!!! I will be back very soon, this may be my new favorite spot 😊

Looking for a short hike near Bodega Bay that allows leashed dogs and has breathtaking views of the Pacific? The Pinnacle Gulch Trail is for you. Our doggy is 15, and was able to handle most of the hike - just a few places where it was a little too steep (he’s a dachshund-chihuahua mix) so he needed some help in a couple spots - larger dogs should have no problem. There is parking and a restroom at the trailhead - very convenient and no charge. The trail starts across the road from the parking lot and begins in a shaded area that is a bit steep with dirt/wood-backed stairs and then winds down into the gulch and into a more open easy trail which opens up to magnificent ocean views and then leads to a very private and beautiful beach. The walk down took about 30 minutes going at a leisurely pace and the walk back up was not too difficult and took about the same. I would not recommend for small children as the trail runs along a steep edge of the gulch in places and the beach had some strong surf when we were there - about 9:30 AM.
Cindy H — Google review
Pinnacle gulch trail is a pretty easy hike into the forests that finally leads to the beautiful view of the ocean. It's a fairly easy trail, 15 minutes each way. Parking is limited, so you may have to wait for space to open up. The trail is mostly flat with a few stairs here and there. It's all downhill to the ocean so the way back up can feel challenging to some. The beach itself is very secluded, very few people even on a weekend. We didn't get to see a lot, but I am pretty sure you can find a lot of sea life like mussels, crabs and star fish at this beach. It's very natural.
