The 16 best free attractions in Billings

A really interesting piece of our history, Pictograph cave has ancient pictographs that have been preserved in part by their placement and in part by the parks service (by keeping people off of them). This is a rugged terrain with a good slope, but the views are worth the hike. Take water and wear a hat as there isn’t much shade along the way. The visitor’s information station has info and entry tickets, as well as a bathroom. There is a porta-potty outside the station in case they’re out.

If you are traveling to Billings, a museum definitely worthy of your time. Don't let the small exterior fool you, lots exhibition. Lower level is amazing! Great history lesson.

It’s a great place for a picnic, a walk around the lake. The path is paved about halfway around and gravel the other half. Not too stroller friendly on the gravel but we managed it fine. We noticed a nice little dog park a bit of a walk away from parking.

What a beautiful piece of property. Tons of history here. I am a little partial because I went to high school very close to here at Billings Senior High. Tons of little creeks and so much color in the trees. My wife had never been to Montana before, and she absolutely adored this park. we will be back if you are in the area and you want some more cool to hang out. This is the spot.

Beautiful views of the city

Four dances is my second favorite area. Mystic Park is my favorite and this is right above. You get a a nice overview of Yellowstone River and mystic Park. Billings Public Library is the local hub of culture, creativity, discovery, learning and socializing for all ages. They even provide IT technical classes and help. Children and adults alike have specialized programming that is outstanding. Great Leadership translates to engaged employees and a grateful public.

This place was beautiful. I walked around the pond and then did the paved trail. I loved how beautiful and peaceful this trail was, also loved going over the cute bridge. There’s a lot of ducks and geese here, you can sit by the pond and feed them. I did also see some people kayaking and fishing. The one thing I thought was weird was there were random people just sitting in their cars, some more secluded than the others. As I was a woman alone it seemed kinda creepy.

Awesome views of Billings, including Montana State University, etc. In late May there are flowers blooming on the cliffs, very beautiful.

Though Toucan owners recently moved into their new location they have not lost any of the things that make Toucan such a great place to shop for art, gifts, and framing. The new building and design is flooded with natural light and the space is welcoming and colorful. (Don’t forget to look up at the gorgeous wood ceiling). I love Toucan when I'm looking for the perfect unique gift (in a variety of prices) and my sister and I have had several pieces framed to perfection.

It’s a fun water park! Not huge, but growing. My little kids have always had a great time here. I hope they continue to add attractions for bigger kids. The Rip Break has been super fun, and my kids of all ages do enjoy that. They recently added a smash burger and tater tot truck, and the food is delicious. We typically buy a season pass, that gets into the park super fast.

It's probably the best park I've ever been to! Families having parties and playing, splash pad is very popular and well maintained, the playground is very unique with tons of climbing equipment and there's an area for the little ones. There's a big open field to play ball or run around and there's tons of picnic table that you can move around so you can stay in the shade. Theres a gazebo that is very nice too. The bathrooms were well kept. I really love this park!

I watched the 4th of July fireworks at this park, and the whole event was just incredible. They were so beautiful and coordinated perfectly. The park is very nice, clean, there were a ton of people. Had a great time! Zoom in on the photos. Maybe it's just me, but they're gorgeous!

Great conservation spot right across from Scheels. Most of the trails are paved and we rollerbladed. Lots of duck and geese. My kids also enjoyed the educational signs all over. We saw friendly people and dogs; dogs have to be on a leash. We'll be back.
