Located in Piura, Peru, the Municipal Museum Vicús is a captivating destination that provides insight into the history and cultural legacy of the Vicus civilization. Established in 2001, it houses an impressive collection of over 2,700 archaeological artifacts such as ceramics and metallurgy. The museum comprises three halls: Olleros Hall, Metallurgic Technology Hall, and Gold Hall which showcases 61 gold objects reflecting the technological advancements of the Vicus culture.
This is very eco friendly palace, envirement is very clean and fresh.
Sandeep S — Google review
Nice municipal museum with some findings of a peripheral culture of the Moche empire. Pottery, a mummy, the "usual" stuff. You learn about pottery techniques and the arrival of Pizarro's band of destroyers and the fateful encounter with the Inca.
Pablo P — Google review
It actually closes at 3. A complete waste of my time. The security guard said he's told them to change the opening hours online but they still haven't. Ridiculous.

Great place to visit if you want to see some animals and relax for a bit, but please go early since the area can be dangerous and with a ride to get there and back. There isn't really a big food option, but it's nice to go for a picnic. The entrance fee is 1 sol for the animals. I will say the rabbit exhibit was pretty depressing, but for what it is, I feel like there are a lot of good there to see.
Jexon V — Google review
This place is deeply disturbing. Many of the animals are kept in tiny, filthy cages, with no access to clean water or adequate food. The monkeys I saw were extremely thin, some with visible skin diseases. A tortoise appeared to have a serious neck infection, and overall, the animals look neglected and unhealthy. The conditions here are cruel and inhumane — this is not a sanctuary, it’s a form of long-term animal suffering. It’s heartbreaking to see living beings treated like this, and it's clear they need urgent intervention from animal protection authorities. Visitors should be aware: there are also mosquito infestations due to stagnant water throughout the site.
Dale I — Google review
The only zoo in Piura, features monkeys. Some of the animal conditions are horrible with garbage everywhere. It seems like it was built to be a grand park but absolutely neglected afterwards.

Archaeological site
Narihualá, the historic capital of the Tallán Nation, is a captivating archaeological site that boasts two impressive pyramid platforms. Located not far from Piura, this destination offers a glimpse into an ancient culture that has left its mark on history. Visitors can explore the remnants of clay walls that have withstood the test of time and marvel at the craftsmanship of local artisans who create beautiful artifacts.
Loves it. It is just amazong that the walls of this ancient society are still there, even though they were consteuced out of clay.
Tim W — Google review
Interesting to visit such an ancient place of culture. This place is not far from Piura. A beautiful tourist location. They are skilled in making artifacts and sell there too. Hats and the things they make are cheaper than their main market place in Catacaos.
Philip A — Google review
This place has a lot of potential. It is a wonderful historical site but it's just barely being developed. It is not well known so there are not a lot of tourists. They have some very interesting archaeological finds. If you are in the area it is well worth the time to go and visit.
Lonny W — Google review
After visiting the ruins in Cusco, this is not too impressive. Unless you are into old cultures that sacrifice their children to their gods this is not a "must".

Public beach
Cabo Blanco is a picturesque fishing cove located in the Province of Talara, Peru. Situated on the Pacific Ocean, it is renowned for its rich marine life and is considered a marine paradise due to its abundant plankton, which attracts diverse fish and marine mammals including golden swordfish and merlin. The area was once popular for sport fishing and served as an inspiration to Ernest Hemingway's "The Old Man and the Sea.

(Translated by Google) To get to Cabo Blanco beach, you must take a bus that charges S/3.00, the bus stop is near the EPPO-El Alto stop, the cost of the EPPO ticket from Alto to Máncora is S/5.00 (at the date 2023). Cabo Blanco was previously a place visited by sport fishing and where Nobel Prize winner Ernest Hemingway was inspired to write "The Old Man and the Sea." In a mural, you can see the image of Alfred Glassell, an American businessman who in 1953 achieved the world record for deep-sea fishing by catching a swordfish weighing approximately 700 kilos. "World record for deep-sea fishing, Cabo Blanco 1953, 1,560 pounds" reads above the image. The conservation could be improved, the poster where a brief review is shown is worn by time and the letters cannot be clearly seen. (Translated by Google) Cabo Blanco is a fishing cove in the Province of Talara, in the Department of Piura, northwest of Peru, located 3 km from El Alto, on the shores of the Pacific Ocean. It is considered the southernmost point of the Gulf of Guayaquil. It is frequently visited by surfers from all over the world. Marine fishing joins over time with the old fishermen and is lost in memory; and, in its port, from time to time a barracuda with its enormous size is caught; As part of the anecdote, there is talk of the merlin weighing more than 900 kilograms that people associate with the narrative of The Old Man and the Sea and that allowed years later the never-forgotten presence of Ernest Hemingway.

Plaza de Armas de Piura is considered one of Peru's oldest and most charming main squares. The city green space is adorned with old tamarind trees, flowers, and park benches, as well as the marble statue "Pola." Every Sunday, a flag lifting ceremony takes place here. While it offers a pleasant spot to relax under the shade, some feel that more attention should be given to its upkeep considering its historical significance.
Piura is a very interesting tropical city, with most hospitable people. An excellent 5* hotel on one side of the Plaza, and a number of traditional restaurants on the other. Not on the conventional tourist trail but much loved by Peruvians. Where the republic of Peru was founded in 1830 by General Grau, whose home is now a museum.
Gareth H — Google review
The plaza is an area to see the locals relax and go about their day. It is surrounded by shops and eateries. The cathedral is beautiful with its glorious architecture. This is a passing attraction in Piura. It is beautiful at night with the lights illuminating the area. It is good for some photo opportunities and to see locals just sitting around and conversing.

Denisse H — Google review
A good space to spend some time under the shade. However, it should definitely be improved considering the history of the city and the number of years of its creation. The streets around it are being paved and there is a lot of dust and dirt everywhere. Needs a bit more of care.
