Scenic Walking Areas
Verny Park, located in Yokosuka, offers a delightful blend of French-inspired beauty and serene waterfront views. The park boasts a charming French-garden design with manicured lawns, vibrant flower beds, and a peaceful fountain. Named after the French engineer Leonce Verny, the park features over 130 species of beautiful blooms, including an impressive display of 2,000 roses at its center.
Great open park to take a walk along the bay overlooking Yokosuka port and see some Naval ships both US and Japanese. Visited in winter so no blooming flowers yet but you can tell it'll be nice to visit and walk through in Spring. It is a French styled garden and some memorials and displays of Léonce Verny which the park is named after. He was a French naval engineer who led the construction of multiple naval facilities in the area in the late 1800s. Right next to the Coasca mall and you can park in their parking lot or by the JR train station. There is a small playground for kids too. A good place to take a walk and have some scenery and learn some history too.
Jonathan K — Google review
Highlight of my visit to Yokosuka. Probably one of the few places in Yokosuka that have such an open and direct view of the ships docked at the port and also open to the public. On one side you can see the JMDF HQ and their vessels, while on the other side you can see the US naval base and their vessels. Cool place to walk through or sit down and just enjoy the view. Also conveniently located right next to JR Yokosuka station.
Bent Z — Google review
Was in the area for a super cool Oktoberfest across from the naval base. tourists prices but still fun

The place is nice, clean and spacious. Lots of roses with various types

I look forward to The Spring Rose Festival in Verny Park every year. And it is a beautiful venue to just relax, walk, and view the harbor.
Guy J — Google review
Great park to relax! You can see the US navy base and the base of Japan Maritime Self Defense Force from here! Long wood board deck here!! You can have a bench to see the bay!! There are good garden too! You can enjoy beautiful roses in the season. That’s super beautiful!! It’s close to JR Yokosuka station and Starbucks coffee store! It’s easy to get in!! You can enjoy here with good coffee on weekends!! Enjoy!!
Erine T — Google review
Right across from JR Yokosuka Station, super easy to get to. The park feels wide open and you can see the Arleigh Burke-class destroyers in the port.
Callum R — Google review
A very nice park to visit on a sunny day. Lots of flowers and expansive boardwalk to take in the views of the harbor and Japanese and American warships and submarines. The museum is also very nice and with no entry fee.

Mikasa Park, located in Yokosuka, is a renowned park that showcases the city's history and natural beauty. It was selected as one of the '100 Japanese City Parks' and the '100 Historical Parks.' The park is designed with the theme of 'water, light, and sound,' featuring captivating water fountains that operate multiple times a day. At its center stands the impressive battleship Mikasa, which played a significant role in the Russo-Japanese War.
If your r interested in history and/or with kids - it’s a good place to go.
Olga S — Google review
If you are a fan of history and naval battles, you really need to visit this place. Although this Mikasa battleship is not kept as its original satus , you can feel and understand how important it is in the history, not to mention the Russia - Japan war is a turning point of Japan Empire.

They park was very nice well-maintained has several spots that would be good for taking pictures. It also has a very long channel and at the back of the park is a pond that does water shows at certain times throughout the day. Overall I think this is a very beautiful Park to visit. Oh there were also signs that warned you about hawks taking your food.
Joseph C — Google review
Very good park and museum. The museum has the artifacts from the world war 2 and has shows and VR creation of the some part of that historical events happened at that time. The old battle ship which is turned into the museum is well maintained and lets you feel the size of the fleet working on them.
Varghese J — Google review
Battleship Mikasa is a museum containing artifacts from WWII. The ship recreates what it was like during that time. It was a nice tour. I came on the day of the Curry Festival so the park had lots of food stalls and it was very interesting to see different kinds of curry as well as some other types of food.

Dobuita Street is a vibrant American-influenced strip in Yokosuka, Japan. It's known for its military-gear shops, burger joints, and lively bar scene. The street is a shopper's paradise with a wide variety of souvenirs ranging from delicately crafted jewelry to eye-catching bomber jackets reflecting the city's naval history. You'll often see people in camouflage clothes walking in front of the military base and bustling activity at the bars.
The iconic street from Shenmue is a fantastic place to visit, offering a variety of great shops, restaurants, and a genuine sense of community. The atmosphere is vibrant and lively, with a vast selection of sukajan jackets and dome. There are also some great bars and restaurants to relax in.
Dean T — Google review
Dobuita Street in Yokosuka, Kanagawa, is a lively district known for its blend of Japanese and American cultures. Due to its proximity to the U.S. Naval Base, it features a mix of shops, restaurants, and bars offering unique local flavors and entertainment. Visitors can find everything from Yokosuka Navy Burgers and Navy Curry to military-themed apparel and Sukajan jackets. By day, it's great for shopping and exploring, and by night, it becomes the heart of Yokosuka's nightlife. A must-visit spot for a culturally rich experience.
Yang — Google review
Just visited this magical place. I was looking for sailors.
Ruslan B — Google review
You can spend a large fortune part of the day sifting through the shops on Dobuita Street. It houses a variety of goods from souvenirs to vintage clothing. There’s something for everyone.
Tyler S — Google review
The birthplace of Sukajan 💙 While Yokosuka has many places where you could hang out and buy stuff... this street is here is where I find the most creative stuff. There are vintage items on sale as well. You'll never know this is where you buy your next great find. I love the street, the people, the sellers (the old Japanese men and women are very polite and kind to talk to... but there's no haggling prices with them hahahaha). The Sukajan on sale are exquisite. I love the shirts, the bomber jackets, the embroidered stuff. The more exquisite, the more expensive they are priced. But hey, this is the only place where you have so many options and designs of Sakajans so when visiting Yokosuka, buy one. It's enough proof you were there without saying you were there.
Corkie K — Google review
Lot of bar and burger/steak restaurants I went on sunday and just few people around the vicinity

SDT 2 — Google review
I visited Dobuita Street in Yokosuka, Japan after originally discovering the street in the game Shenmue. Although it's changed over the years it offers a unique and somewhat surreal experience with its Americanized atmosphere. I visited during the week around 6pm in March, and although it was fairly quiet, some bars were still open. For a livelier atmosphere, I would recommend going on the weekend. It's got an American vibe with an abundance of English and sometimes poorly translated signs added to the charm. Walking to the soundtrack of "Get Low" blaring from a nearby bar, it was filled with english speaking people. The food and drink options along Dobuita Street leaned heavily toward American cuisine, offering a wide range of familiar dishes and beverages. It was a bit surreal to encounter such an Americanized place in the heart of Japan.

Nagai Uminote Park Soleil Hill is a beloved destination for tourists and locals. It boasts a vast seaside area featuring vibrant flowerbeds, a charming boat pond, engaging playgrounds, and an endearing petting zoo. Additionally, the park offers the excitement of a Ferris wheel ride.
For English speakers, a fun park to bring your family too. A lot of activities for the little kids. The park in itself is free but most of the activities there you'll have to pay about 400 yen or more depending on the activity. There is a hill slide, train ride, petting zoo, ropes course, paddle row boats, go carts, archery, and more. There is a ticket booth usually right outside of the activity but it is all in Japanese so make sure you are choosing the right one. They do sell a bulk of 12 tickets for 4000 yen which saves you 800 yen if you are interested in that. You can spend most of the day there without doing any of the pay activity and just pay for parking too. Playgrounds are free and plenty of space for kids to run around. Just beaware the ticket booths are in Japanese so you'll have to know which one to buy. Also, the ticket booths currently don't accept the new bills so be careful if you have new ones. Also try to have 1000 yen bills as they don't accept 5000 or 10000. However there are exchange one near some ticket booths. Many people that comes here brings there own tent and set it up for the day to come back to and rest. Spaces are first come first serve. They also do have actual camping area and cabins to rent if want to spend the night there. Plenty of vending machine and places to grab food too. Worth checking out the strawberry soft cream which they have it right by the main entrance. Parking is about 1050 yen and they will scan your license plate when you go in. Highly suggested to pay for parking before entering the park as it can get backed up when leaving. Just remember the 4 numbers on your plate. They do accept credit cards at the machines, no English options of if you need help you'll need to seek assistance but it is pretty straight forward. Worth checking out and great day of outing. We will be back again!

Great family get away for a day or even to stay! The zipline was so much fun and you get an awesome view of Mt.Fuji if you are fortunate enough. Lots of stuff for the kids to do and yummy places to eat! The flowers were very pretty and well maintained.
Joshua B — Google review
A great park to take your whole family to include your pup! The dog park is also pretty nice. The play grounds are huge and the camp areas are pretty nice. Lots of parking and not too expensive.
William N — Google review
This park is amazing. We went as a group of adults and had a great time. No children needed to enjoy the park. During our time in Yokosuka area we went here twice. One of the days it was very rainy and we didn’t get to see the animals at the zoo, but rode the Ferris wheel and enjoyed the beautiful flowers. The staff was very helpful to English speakers and we felt comfortable enjoying the park. The sunny day we went, we got to see many of the animals, enjoyed the pedal boats, and the grilling experience. I’d recommend this place to those with children, solo travelers, even adults!!
Sofia S — Google review
Very beautiful, big and enjoyable place to go with family and friends. We had a great time and also fun activities to do with kids, consider bringing cash because you have to pay for ever activity.
Carla N — Google review
A massive park, very good for family picnic and couple date. I was there on Friday 15th August 2025, very crowded but you still can walk tho. Less foreigner tourists. Guess, the favorite spot is the sunflower garden for taking pics. Free entry, but you will have to pay to get into their small zoo. The condition of the zoo is kinda sad-gloomy and small for some animals. Shocking they have penguins, they do need cold space rather than outdoor cage. Pony has super small cage and lonely. Capybaras and big turtles have bigger space area to roam. Dogs also look so scared to people and just wait for food to appear. So sad. Vending machines and toilets are available anywhere. They have restaurants as well, Italian style and Japanese style. Ice cream spot is near to the entrance gate. But the bigger restaurant inside the park doesnt have english menu so it's not really "foreigner friendly" yet. So far the service was fast and helpful for me. The playground is so massive and many kind. Slide, gokart, mini roller coaster, ferris wheel, carousel, etc. Picnic ground also massive, no need to worry to get your own space. You can also do grill and they serve the store. I hope the souvenir store get improvement for various things, not just foods and toys.
Patricia — Google review
This is an amazing park for sunflower! Looks like it is opens only for summer but must to visit here! There are huge amount pf flowers around the park!!! Basically it is free to enter just need to pay for parking. There are some food places. If you have small kids, never get bored for them!!! Good place to enjoy slow and relax for family!! Enjoy!!

Kurihama Flower Park is a stunning city park that showcases over 1 million seasonal flowers, including poppies in the spring and cosmos in the fall. The park also features Adventure Land, a playground with attractions like Godzilla-inspired slides and a 45-meter-long roller slide, making it a hit with kids. Additionally, visitors can enjoy activities such as golf, archery, and air-rifle shooting.
There is a stunning flower garden located near Yokosuka. It is a vibrant display of colors and fragrances, showcasing a variety of blooms that change with the seasons. Visitors can stroll through beautifully arranged pathways, taking in the sights and sounds of nature. The garden is not only a feast for the eyes but also a perfect spot for relaxation and reflection. It is a great place for photography enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. If you are in the area, it is definitely worth a visit to experience the beauty and tranquility it offers. You might even find some unique flowers that you have never seen before!
Gus E — Google review
Great park to go for a hike/walk and great playground for kids at the top. Warning the hill is quite steep so expect about a 1000m climb to he Godzilla slide. As of 2024 summer it is closed due to repair but the sign said it'll be open on December. Subtracted a star due to just being a little outdated and the playground area needed some grounds keeping done. A lot of long grass by the playground area that needed some mowing down. Besides that the l playgrounds were still in great shape and the signs were all faded with some sun damage. We went at the end of summer so there were no blooming flowers to see but you can tell it's beautiful in Spring time. A lot of locals come here for a good nature walk. There is also a small train that runs if you want to pay for the ride. 500 yen for adults and 300 yen for children above three. Only went to the top and back down but I know on the other side there is a kids garden and cafe. Just be aware We tried to keep out of the sun so we went late afternoon and most of the places were closed by 3:30pm. The park also closes the gates at 4:30pm for entry so plan accordingly. We paid 630 yen for parking closest to the entrance. I assume the parking lot is packed in peak times. Recommend checking it out for a good hike up hill and a great spot for kids. I know they will sleep well the days we go here.
Jonathan K — Google review
Gorgeous place for hiking, picnic and chill. Take your sport shoes and comfortable clothes because you have to walk quite long to reach the Godzilla statue and the big playground for kids. This park basically massive and full of flowers (depends to the seasons as well). Best time to visit (summer/spring) is around 15:00-18:00. Not gonna be crowded and so breezy. There are plenty toilets and vending machines, also a small cafe and a merchandise store. Parking lot is outside the park near to Yokosuka hospital.
P — Google review
Kurihama Flower park is a nice place to visit with young kids … there are multiple playgrounds, giant slides, and small food vendors. Even a trolly-train to ride if the hills are too tough on your legs. At different times flowers bloom seasonally to enjoy. The Godzilla statue is the famous highlight with a slide down its tail. You can pay yen only for trampolines for 5 minutes and even a rock climbing wall. Great place to bring your own family picnic. Parking is 630 yen. Plenty of bathrooms
Sean — Google review
Very well paved paths. Not many stairs, but some of the paths are fairly steep and may be tiring for small children or elderly folks. The playground with Godzilla is pretty sizeable and a good place to keep kids busy for a while.
Julia P — Google review
Tons of trails to walk and explore. Different flowers to view in each season, so any time of year is great for visiting. Great for kids, as there are multiple play areas, giant slides and a kid garden section. There's a for soaking tub in the kids garden which was very invigorating. You can find several shops and ice cream carts around the park.
Amber K — Google review
This is a big park with lots to see! It‘s well known for its poppies and nemophilia, so it does get pretty crowded during flowering season. There was at least a 30-car wait for one of the two parking lots during Golden week. If you are planning on walking around the park, wear a comfortable pair of shoes as there are plenty of uphill parts. Otherwise, there’s also a shuttle bus that runs every half an hour from sometime in the morning till 16:30. Definitely worth a visit!
Gloria — Google review
Beautiful park, even during the winter. Nice trails to hike and beautiful views. Nice tea shop at the end of the hike. Cool playgrounds for the kids with the giant Godzilla. The tram is a nice way to see the park if you've got someone who is physically unable to hike or with little kids.

Huge park with lots to see. Several trails to take, some strenuous, others flat and easy. There's playgrounds, forest scenery, a beach trail, and a path through the old military battery. There are several restrooms available, which were relatively clean, and had vending machines for drinks and ice cream outside them.
Amber K — Google review
I had a great time walking along the beach and walk up to the lighthouse. Cute little place to visit. However the lack of parking lot of motorcycle was very concerning. Many bikes were parked along the road. I managed to park my bike with bicycles and I’m still not sure if it was okay or not.

Really cool park a lot of different things to do and see. Paved trails through majority of the park that takes you do different areas. Paid parking available. Close to Yokosuka very cool and easy trip on a nice day to explore.

WOW. That’s all I can say. This beautiful park is a refuge from the chaos of town. So much to see and do here. The cherry blossoms are breath taking but there’s also many other flowers and a lot of hiking. It extends down to the beach also.

This is a good park for enjoying nice nature! I think it’s amazing in summer not for winter season haha. You can see Uraga channel from here so you can see many ships coming for Tokyo and leaving to Pacific Ocean from here it’s amazing view!! If it is a beautiful day you can see around Yokohama are and Tokyo too!! There are some remains during WW2 ear so you can see some battery and ammo storages. Looks like good place for swimming and bbq in the summer!! It’s big wind around winter so cold. Take care! There are parking, vending machines and some benches!! You can enjoy and relax here!!

Tateishi Park is a picturesque park featuring a small beach and cove, as well as tree-topped rocky outcrops in the sea. It offers stunning views of the coastline, with Mt. Fuji visible in the distance. The park's scenery was famously captured by Ando Hiroshige in his ukiyo-e work during the Edo period. Visitors can enjoy leisurely walks along the shore and explore tidal pools to observe sea creatures.
Beautiful scenic beach spot. The parking is free and open until 2000. On a clear day, especially in the winter, you can see Mount Fuji towering over the bay. This spot is great for a date!

The location offers a stunning vantage point to witness the sunset during the warm summer months. As the sun dips below the horizon, the sky transforms into a breathtaking palette of vibrant oranges, pinks, and purples, creating a truly magical atmosphere. However, it's important to note that this picturesque spot tends to attract large crowds, making parking a challenge. Visitors should plan ahead to ensure they secure a parking space and fully enjoy the enchanting view.
John G — Google review
It’s a beautiful scenic spot in Zushi, about a 20-minute bus ride from the bus station. You can take bus No. 5 at bus stop No. 2 at Zushi Bus Station, which is next to JR Zushi Station and about a 5-minute walk from Keikyu Zushi-Hayama Station. The view is especially beautiful in winter when Mt. Fuji is clearly visible. Even though I couldn’t see Mt. Fuji on the day I went, the view was still amazing.

1/2020 Beautiful. Especially when the air is clear and you can see all the way to Mt Fuji. Touches the Japanese hearts. Parking tends to get full easily on days like that. We had a relaxing time there, listening to the waves and looking down at the marvelous sea color... 1/2022 And when you go on a very very windy day, the sea is very rough….🌊

A wonderful little park with a big rock in the ocean and cliffs you can climb with little grassy areas. Plenty of free parking when I went and hardly a soul around. The water is so clear you can see the bottom of the sea floor. The trees look like Bonzai trees and they grow in the area.
Louis C — Google review
Me and my husband like to visit this park with our dog, it's give you nice sunset with mouth fuji view on a good sunny day plus on a weekday it's not crowded.
Almitasari — Google review
Very popular park for photographers & locals to visit during sunset. They have a huge free parking lot however it is usually filled up especially if going to catch a glimpse of Fujisan at sunset. I would recommend going 2 hours before sunset to be able to score a free parking space, if not a lot across the street from LuvIt has plenty of spots but the fee is ¥900 but might be worth it to avoid the hassle of finding a place to park which is extremely limited and places do monitor - especially if you park somewhere that is not allowed 🚫.

Kano Shrine is a revered and powerful shrine with an exceptional setting, featuring the East and West Kano Shrines facing each other across the bustling Uraga Port. It was previously a Shingon sect temple called Eishinji before being divided into two villages, leading to the construction of separate shrines. The mountain behind it, Mt. Myojin, holds the ruins of Uraga Castle.
What a beautiful Shinto Shrine, right on the Bay. We Spent the day exploring the beautiful Kano Shinto Shrine in another local neighborhood with my girls! ⛩️ The architecture and serene atmosphere were truly breathtaking. It's amazing to discover more about our local culture and history. Can't wait to go back and experience more of the rich traditions and beauty this shrine has to offer! #ExploringLocalGems #KanoShintoShrine

A beautiful shrine on the waterfront of Uraga. The cave was surprisingly simple but wonderful. The stairs make it a good leg workout day and the view from the top is breathtaking. It was nice and very peaceful shrine to experience with many sites to enjoy.

A lovely shrine with good views. There was not much traffic when we got there in the morning, though more people were coming when we left. Continue up the stairs that go behind the shrine to see the site of Uraga Castle.

A nice shrine to check out. Plus, if you have the time, go across the way in a boat ferry to the twin shrine with the same name and check it out too. Go up the steep steps there to see the monument to the founder of the Japanese navy.

Nestled in the serene surroundings of Kamakura, Yakumo Shrine is a hidden gem that promises tranquility away from the bustling tourist spots. Just a leisurely 15-minute stroll from Kamakura Station, this charming shrine invites visitors to explore its peaceful grounds adorned with vibrant banners and shaded by lush trees. The path leading to Yakumo Shrine meanders through a quiet residential area, making it an ideal escape for those seeking solace.
Yakumo Shrine is located an 8-minute walk from the East Exit of Kamakura Station. It was established during the Eihō era (1081–1083), and is known as the oldest shrine in Kamakura dedicated to warding off misfortune. The shrine hosts the “Kamakura Omachi Festival,” a Gion Festival that has been celebrated in Kamakura for over 900 years. The festival takes place for three days, beginning on the Saturday between July 7 and 14 each year. Highlights of this festival include the Shinkō-sai, a sacred procession where men dressed in traditional white garments and eboshi hats carry mikoshi (portable shrine), as well as the Mikoshi-furi, where four mikoshi illuminated by lanterns are carried side by side at night. At the back of the Yakumo Shrine grounds, you’ll find the trailhead for the Gionyama Hiking trail.

A small shrine with very colorful banners set in a nice tree shaded area. It was right off a walking alley but, behind it is the larger hiking trail, near a few other shrines and temples. It’s free to explore, all you have to do is ring the bell to purchase any charms or get your GoShuin. It’s was relaxing and peaceful to just enjoy.

(Translated by Google) This is a shrine where you can get a goshuin. You can have it written directly. Goshuin can be obtained at the shrine office to the right of the worship hall. You can also get goshuin from the many affiliated shrines here. There are seven affiliated shrines in total: Jusansho Shrine, Jomyoji Kumano Shrine, Amanawa Shinmei Shrine, and Ebisu Shrine in Kamakura City, and Kuki Shrine, Numama Goryo Shrine, and Kameoka Hachiman Shrine in Zushi City. The initial offering is 500 yen for each. According to the history book, it is an old shrine that has been enshrined since the Muromachi period. It is surrounded by trees and has a tranquil atmosphere. To the left of the worship hall is a treasure hall that you can freely visit, where you can see the mikoshi, roof tiles, and donated items. It is difficult to see because of the reflection in the glass, though. When you ring the bell at the shrine office, the chief priest will come out and carefully write the goshuin for each shrine in your goshuin book. I thought it would be interesting to try out the one-word fortune slips that come with a kind message from the chief priest. It costs 300 yen. Train station
Yokosuka-chūō Station is a central transportation hub in Yokosuka city, offering access to various train lines including the Keikyu line. It's a convenient spot for travelers heading to Tokyo and Yokohama, with super fast limited express trains available. The station area is bustling with shops and restaurants, providing everything needed for daily life. Foreign visitors will find the station staff helpful and accommodating.
This is the Keikyu line station. If you are going to Yokosuka Naval Base of the U.S. Forces in Japan, this station or Shioiri station is the nearest. Keikyu has good access to Tokyo and Haneda Airport. JR Yokosuka station is the closest to Tokyo station without transfers. However, please be aware of the distance from this station.

This place is a center of Yokosuka city! You can find fancy restaurant around this station and good shops. You can buy everything you need for your daily life. All Keikyu line stops at this stop. When you go to Tokyo and Yokohama it’s good idea to use this line not JR line. Super fast train especially for limited express. The staffs at the station is good for foreigners so no worries. If you have any problem or worries you can ask them! Have a good travel!

They improved Yokosuka Chuo Station and the surrounding area a lot of the years. Now it's a pretty decent place. Once you exit the station, you're within walking distance of many shops. Yokosuka Chuo really stands out when they do festivals in front of the station on the Main Street.

Good station where the express and limited express stop, as well as the local Keikyu trains. There are a bunch of shops in the area and you'll never be bored around Yokosukachuo Station! My only complaint is that there's no convenience store on the ground floor inside the gates. The 7-11 is outside the gate or on the tracks, which gets pretty crowded!
Morgan — Google review
This is the main station in downtown Yokosuka. You can catch a train from her to Tokyo which will connect to anywhere in Japan. Passmo and Suica cards are available at the entrance and will take it much easier for foreigners as you don't need to calculate fares. Just get the card, put 5000¥ on it and swipe it as you enter ad exit the stations.

Naval base
United States Fleet Activities Yokosuka offers a unique experience with its Navy Burger and beautiful sea views. The base provides a wide range of activities including woodworking, diving clubs, movie theaters, gyms, mixed martial arts classes, and more. It also boasts great restaurants and a rich Japanese culture. Visitors can explore the historic dry docks and enjoy the convenience of on-base transportation options. As one of the largest Navy bases outside the US, it serves as a cornerstone of the US-Japan Alliance.
I had an incredible experience touring the USS Ronald Reagan at United States Fleet Activities Yokosuka (アメリカ海軍横須賀基地). The base itself is impressive, with a rich history and strong sense of community. The tour provided fascinating insights into naval operations and life aboard one of the most advanced aircraft carriers. The staff were knowledgeable and welcoming, making the visit memorable. Highly recommended for anyone interested in military history and naval technology!

Was in and out of there starting in September 1970. A huge base that once was the core base of the Japanese Navy during WWII. A very historic Naval Base. And I loved the Japanese people and Tokyo was stunning. I can only imagine what it's like now 54 years later. Great memories.

Spent 5 years here, stationed on the mighty USS George Washington, from March 2009 until March 2014. At first everything was very surreal and took pictures of everything! Then I hit a groove for a bit and then really finished out my tour exploring everything. I can now cross off many things on my bucket list thanks the US Navy and Japan. It was an honor to serve here and it was absolutely the experience of a lifetime. Get out! Explore Japan! Get lost! Don't take anything for granted or push anything to the side and say you'll get to it later. Time goes by so quickly and you'll realize, no matter how much you actually did, that there was still so much you didn't do. It's so safe, you can let your kids go off by themselves and really not have to worry about a thing. Japanese culture is so friendly and honest. Just be careful and don't forget to think about how much money you're spending, it's easy to pose track with "Monopoly money." I highly recommend this to anyone looking to get stationed here. You'll appreciate it so much when you look back at it.

Great park to take your family for a walk or spend the morning/afternoon. Great open area for Grilling or BBQ. Have plenty of public restrooms and water fountains. There is a splash pad area for kids and a great playground. You can rent BBQ items right there by the field if you need it. Parking is available nearby too. terrible experience..I came late around 10pm and stayed over night left early morning got charged for two whole days so double for parking! They turn off the lights at 11pm and it was total darkness fishing...every other cast was a snag due to people's line left in the sea! Didnt catch anything so was a complete fishing disappointed. Toilets were horrible and there is no place to wash equipment after fishing. Was looking forward to this spot due to the reviews but I guess it's 4 stars due to the basketball and skateboard ground ..but only fishing it was horrible..won't be going there again!

We decided to celebrate the Halloween out at the park . Finally we found UMIKAZE . Umi means sea and Kaze means wind. Thought must be cold but it was not as we were there in October 30th. We had two tents , Halloween stuffs and lot of food and sweets. Forgot to take the water. But we found a very convenient park with the provision of several toilets , tap waters also the sinks to wash the dishes. We came to know that it’s okay to organize bbq there. Very close there are many best places like home center , big mall , the beautiful sea and Astonishingly skate park , bicycle park and tennis court too. Parking fee is 640¥ per day. Ample parking lot . Ambiance is attractive as well, so I could see many people with cameras. Recommend to have a day fun. Choose the sunny day and get some Vitamin D. We got a nice place beside the old preserved long White House structure , very close to the parking lot where we parked our cars. We decorated the surrounding a bit and had delicious food ( home made) . After that we did some games and let our kids go around for trick or treating . Anyway soon after they reached the park , they started going around and play fully. Kids love running around. Outing is the best for kids and the families. Cheers

If your going in a group, make sure to go early as this place is very crowdy on saturday and sunday. It has a free parking place near here from 10 am to 9 pm ( secret). I cannot tell this. At the side of this place has a parking area 2 hours free. And there is a big grocery store which you can buy foods, a 100 yen shop, etc. You can do fishing you can bring your dog.

Nature preserve
Kinugasa Yama Park is a charming hilly park located in the suburbs, boasting over 2000 cherry trees and Kinugasa castle ruins. It offers woodland trails, playgrounds, and an observation platform. The park is well-maintained by volunteers and features a small viewing tower at the top of the mountain with panoramic views of downtown Yokosuka and Tokyo Bay.
Nice park for a family outing. Paved trails that are easy for younger children to walk on. Fun playground that my kids enjoyed playing at. Very clean, well maintained and peaceful place. Not too busy on a Saturday morning.

Loved the view, it was a nice hike from downtown but we did it. Lots to see and the wooden animals were a treat, just wished we were here during spring to see even more flowers!

This large park is well maintained by volunteers. It is a nice place to have a walk or go for a run. There is a small viewing tower at the top of the mountain where you can see all the way to downtown Yokosuka and Tokyo Bay. There are small carved wooden mascots all over the park.

The good: It has a nice view. The best thing about this park is during the Cherry Blossoms. The bad: Most of the the equipment for kids to play on are old and need to be replaced.

Beautiful and quaint. Peaceful up hill walk with maps and signs guiding you along the way. Beautiful in the spring
