It's a less known tourist place. A small room includes many artefacts of the very old gompha that was badly damaged by earthquake. Hence after it has been rebuilt and the old pictures have been renovated with painful skills of INTACH. The items included were wonderful. The upstairs gompha was closed. I would appreciate if a larger room with a short history of Kalimpong Lepchas are also included in the museum.

Absolutely loved my visit to Pine View Nursery in Kalimpong! The nursery boasts an incredible collection of over 1,500 species of cacti from around the world, making it a paradise for plant lovers and a truly unique spot in Kalimpong. The displays are perfect for photography and learning about exotic plants. You can even buy some beautiful cacti to take home as souvenirs. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Kalimpong.

Pineview Nursery in Darjeeling is a very beautiful and peaceful place to visit. It is not a big tourist attraction, but it feels special the moment you walk in. The nursery is full of different kinds of plants, especially cacti and succulents that you don’t usually see in this region. Some are tiny and cute, while others are tall and strangely shaped—it feels like walking through a little desert garden on a hill. The paths are clean and well maintained, and the staff are friendly and happy to answer questions. I was surprised to learn how many varieties of cactus they grow here. The display is arranged neatly, with colorful pots and name tags for most plants, which makes it easy to look around and learn. From the nursery, you can also enjoy a nice view of the surrounding hills, which adds to the charm. It’s a quiet place, away from the crowd, and perfect for people who love nature and gardening. Visiting Pineview Nursery was a refreshing experience. It showed me how beautiful and unique plants can be, even in a small corner of Darjeeling. I left with a peaceful mind and a smile on my face.

Avoid this place in Kalimpong. Bad experience. Staff is exceptionally rude and wasn't allowing us entry as we had just 10 minutes left. Although we were allowed later we were charged the full ticket fee. It is a really small place with very few cactus. Maintenance is very bad and seems the entry fees goes to the staff's pockets.

Wandering through the enchanting wonderland of diverse cactus and succulent varieties was a botanical adventure like no other. The vast array of large cacti and succulents, most of which were previously unknown to me, added an element of delightful surprise to the experience. Each plant seemed to tell a unique story, creating an immersive journey for anyone with an appreciation for the intricate beauty of nature. If you're a plant enthusiast or simply curious about the fascinating world of succulents, this destination is an absolute must-visit. The botanical collection here is not just a garden; it's a living tapestry of nature's creativity, showcasing the stunning diversity within the cactus and succulent families. On the flip side, my only gripe was the price tag on the food and drinks – a bit on the steeper side. Despite that, the botanical bliss made the visit totally worthwhile! 🌵🌿

You can see lots of cacti 🌵 in the nurseries here. There is a vast variety. It would be good if they had a description of each plant or if there was a guide. Found this missing. Entry ticket is Rs20 per person. There is a cafe inside but it was shut when we visited.

One of the place where u just sit and can spend whole day. Back side is too sceneric and greenery. There is a school and ground behind. Excellent weather.

The monastery is closed since March 2020 due to covid restrictions. You can still watch it from outside. It has parking space for 5/6 cars and the view is nice. There is a small canteen near the parking area which sells tea and snacks

Monstery truly brings a strange sense of peace to the mind. Its music and vibe make you forget all your worries. It feels like you can finally pause and just breathe.

A small entry fee is required, which is quite reasonable for the experience it offers. Horse rides are available inside the park, which is a fun activity, especially for kids. It's also great to see that the park maintains an eco-friendly approach by not allowing plastic inside. However, the park could benefit from better maintenance in certain areas to enhance the overall visitor experience. With a little more care, it has the potential to be an even more beautiful and well-kept destination.

Lush green paradise here at Delo park. It’s well maintained and clean. Lovely experience being here during monsoons. Activities such as paragliding and horse riding happen here after monsoons. There’s a small shop where you can purchase souvenirs.

A popular tourist attraction. Tickets are there. Actually a park. Visited in July first, hence got cloud on the top. Proper arrangements of cleaning should be there. Tourist should be more careful before destroying the place throwing garbage.

The cool breeze adds to the charm and makes it a perfect spot for some rest after a long drive. On one side of the park, a small food truck serves simple yet tasty snacks like hot momos and Maggi noodles. Sitting here with a plate of steaming food in hand and looking out at the hills and clouds feels like a peaceful experience that’s hard to forget. A small pathway from the left side of the lawn leads to a covered shed structure where visitors can sit and relax. This spot offers a serene view of the mountains stretching out in the distance, often with clouds floating between them, making the scene look dreamy. After spending some time here, you can walk back and take another path going upwards into the deeper part of the garden. This upper lawn has more fun things to do — like trampolines for kids and horse rides for adults who want a bit of adventure. The upper section also leads to the Delo Viewpoint, which is one of the most breathtaking parts of the park. From here, you can see the full view of Kalimpong city, spread across the hills with buildings popping out between the thick cloud cover. On a clear day, the visibility is excellent, and on misty days, the clouds drifting through the mountains create a magical view. The park also features well-maintained flower beds filled with bushes blooming in every color — from yellow and pink to red and purple. These flower beds look beautiful in photos and are a favourite spot for clicking pictures. However, the only drawback is the cleanliness. Despite the natural beauty, many areas have wrappers, water bottles, and plastic lying around. While this is mainly due to irresponsible visitors, it would help if the park deployed staff to monitor and fine those who litter. All in all, Delo Park is a lovely place that combines nature, activities, and stunning views — but some better maintenance is needed to preserve its beauty for the future.

🌧️ Serene Monsoon Beauty at Sri Hanuman Park, Kalimpong Visiting Sri Hanuman Park during the monsoon was a truly refreshing experience. The rain-washed hills looked vibrant and alive, with clouds gently drifting around the giant Hanuman statue, creating a mystical atmosphere. The greenery all around felt richer, and the cool breeze carried the scent of wet earth and blooming flowers. Even in the drizzle, the panoramic view of Kalimpong and the surrounding valleys was breathtaking. A peaceful and soul-soothing spot, perfect for enjoying nature’s monsoon charm.

Went there for the first time and I was in so much tranquility. Would love to meet pandit ji once again he is such an insightful person and he englightened us in such an unforgettable way. He had so much love to give and was full of genorosity and kindness. Thank you pandit ji for the prasaad and the blessings you showered upon us. The mandir had a magnetic pull and I felt so peaceful. It should be must visit palace for tourist in Kurseong .Hanuman ji statue can be seen from far when you are near railway station. The statue of Hanuman ji is at a very high place. If you are a tourist, then start by visiting the temple and feel good throughout the day. The statue is located on the hill top, from here you can see far and wide, you can take a photo with a cool view, you can take a photo in the tea garden behind the temple, you can reach here from Kurseong station to siliguri road and then go round the market one way.

You need to walk uphill road, two types of path are there for you, Plain road and Stairs. So many beautiful flowers and trees are there, very calm and silent atmosphere. Local people behaviour are too good. Just go with your family and friends. Hope you enjoy it. Happy Journey.

It is a wonderful place. What can I say, it is so good to see the cloud game. The clouds come and stick to the body and there is a cool feeling. Hanuman Temple, Kalimpong is situated on the road side, A big statue of Lord Hanuman is present atop of a small hill, where one has to climb quite a few steps to visit the statue. The place also offers a nice view of surrounding hill areas from the temple premises. A nice stopover that provides scenic view of hills.

Teesta River is a 414 km long river that rises in the Pauhunri Mountain of eastern Himalayas, flows through the Indian states of Sikkim and West Bengal and subsequently enters Bangladesh through Rangpur division.River rafting in Teesta can cost between ₹4,000 to ₹6000 per boat, depending on the distance. We also offer combined rafting, paragliding, and camping experiences for an overnight adventure.Starting point of White Water Rafting is from 7th mile that continues till Labarbote which takes about 30 minutes to 1 hour depending o the speed of the river. During the rafting session you will experience an unrivalled way to appreciate the natural scenery, wildlife and exotic plants of the hills.

This is adventures sport. We had different experience at river. This is safe people have backup team and well executed.

Though the whole experience of rafting was good but have few things to share. RATE.. 1) Long ride 7km : rs5000/ boat 2) small ride 4 km : Rs. 4000/ boat Only 5 persons allowed per boat. You must take the long ride as it is more fun with two rapids. Overall whole rafting part was quite easy one. They also provide video graphy service but charge is exorbitantly high as they quote you Rs. 2500 per boat. The quality of the photography was not satisfactory. You have to be a good bargainer to get the best deal from them. You should carry an extra set of dry cloths also.

Amazing experience.. Supportive staff and dive instructor. It was our first Rafting experience and we had 5 ppl from my family from 14 years to 64 years. Only reason for 4 star was they mention 7 miles in the price chart but give 7 kms. Their oars were broken and replacement wasnt provided. Cost details - 3 km - 4000 per boat, max 5 ppl in each boat 7km - 5000 per boat, max 5 ppl in each boat Photography - 2500 negotiable

Beautiful place, the best so far😍 white sand, camping, bonfire, river rafting everything is there. The river water is clear and clean. Though camping is not allowed in monsoon season.

Amazing experience with the Teesta River. We took the 8 KM's journey and experienced very good rapids along the way. The guides and team were excellent. Freezing cold waters to swim but an amazing experience all together no doubt. A must do for all. The faint hearted and the die hard adventure junkies too!

A very good and adventurous place....u can try the best river rafting near siliguri...this place is just awesome...if u want more adventuours rafting then try it during march and april....bcoz at that time the flow of water is very high and u will have the best adventure of water rafting ....so i visited this place during december last week...this place is managed by all the adventure groups in the triveni camp..so of you are coming to stay in the triveni camp then u can ask them about river rafting ..they will surely do that ....they charge 5000 per boat for long distance rafting..and 4000 for short distance running....one boat can carry maximum 7 persons...so u can devide the cost as per person...so if you are going 2 or 3 persons you can wait for another 2 or 3 persons....generally u can find a company during weekends...there is swimming point in the route...u can jump in to the chillled river and swim for 10 mins...seriously this is the best part....and the adventure during the rafting when the boat passes through the stony curves...seriously this will give you goose bumps....the photography charge is 1500 for one trip...u can divide that cost with your boat mates....the photographer are thorugh out the route and take some awesome pictures of u during the rafing....awesome experience

In 1870, William MacFarlane became the first Scottish Missionary to visit Darjeeling and Kalimpong, who soon fell in love with the place and the people, and in an effort to uplift the conditions of the otherwise marginalized Tibetan community, set up a bunch of Scottish Missionary schools. In 1890, the grandest church to be built in the history of Kalimpong was set up in his name, which almost became synonymous with grand feasts, programs for the needy, and celebration of all things beautiful. Visitors often speak of how peaceful and tranquil experience it is to truly witness the remarkable architecture that has stood the test of time at the church. The Sunday early morning mass is the best time to visit this beauty

I am lucky that day I opted visit this place . This church got got extraordinary architectural view . but that is not everything, the breathtaking view from it's garden along with cold breeze make me mesmerized. If the gate is locked please ask someone nearby. visit at evening time or late afternoon. it is very near to bus stand. Do not miss this place.

The MacFarlane Memorial Church in Kalimpong, is a testimony to the infrangible willpower and love of the well-wishers that had helped to restore this astounding church, which was rampaged in the 2011 earthquake. Today, this church stands tall & is a pride of the Kalimpong town. Situated at a stone-throw distance from the town center, it can be easily reached by foot, from the taxi stand. The church is situated on top of a tiny hillock, which can be easily treaded uphill. As soon as I entered the premises of this church, an unprecedented positive vibe engulfed me. This church is environed by a beautiful garden from all around it's sides. It's so alluring that you will feel like spending your entire day, sitting on one of the many benches and admiring the majestic mountains, which are bound to cast a magical spell on you. The architecture of this church imparts it a highly elegant look, with excellent quality materials being used, in the craftsmanship. This church is not open 24/7, but has got a specified time set for the visitors. I was fortunate enough to find the church open, during my visit. If you are planning a trip to Kalimpong, make sure that you include this church in your itinerary. Highly recommended to visit. 👍🏻

The church was named after William MacFarlane, the first missionary from the Church of Scotland who visited Darjeeling. The church is visible from almost all parts of the town and is the most prominent landmark. The foundation stone of the church was laid on 24 February, 1890, and it was opened on November 1, 1891. The place has a great vibe and is very popluar among local people.

Built around 1891 for the memory of Scottish missionary,the original structure destroyed in 2011 earth quake was rebuilt in 2013 has simple architecture of tall bell tower facade with dochala hut style for the prayer hall.Didn't get chance to see inside as I visited early morning and was full of fog.

Established in 1672 it is the oldest monastery in Kalimpong. People born in kalimpong believe that rinpoche avatar at this Gumpa protect them. Very calm peaceful and serene. Cars can reach upto the gate of the Gumpa. Very peaceful. For Non Buddhists First go inside and pray to Buddha. Then take a parikrama around the gumpa and revolve the holy bells. Then in you want you can go to office and light lamps for the safety and health of your loved ones. It is 15 rupees per lamp. And then ask the lama to give you some ferns to light for good fortune. Must visit enroute to Gangtok.

It is know as the oldest Bhutanese monastery in Kalimpong built in 16 century, while the current structure has been repaired. This place is replete with childhood memories of visiting every Sunday with your parents n a must visit for people who were born in Kalimpong but staying away for studies, employment etc. I have sweet memories of visits with my late father n I always used to insist on turing all the prayers wheel available there. 😊 It is a two storied structure, with the upper floor housing the main Buddha statue, however since COVID the upper floor is not not open and all pay homage to the New Buddha statue on the ground floor along with seats of the Ripoches. The lower floor has parquet flooring and donation box for the laymen to contribute for the upkeep of the monastery. Earlier the oil lamps used to be burnt in a room located in the first floor next to main alter but the same shifted many years ago to building near by. This has prevented the frescos from getting damaged due oil n smoke. The religious dances or cham. Is also held in the ground in front of thr main building.. Please do note the current timing are 6am to 5 pm. Offerings are left near the entrance of the main building Om Mane Peme hung

Rafting is good but you will not feel the wavy ride. Make sure you negotiate the price by 1-2k, they might show you false bills to convince you to pay more. They charge per boat , you can save cost by Sharing boats with others . 7-8 people can go in 1 boat ,but they will say only 4 pax to charge you for complete boat fees. You can take your own mobile and take pictures to avoid paying them high prices for video of your ride.

I came here with my family and friends. Most of them did the paragliding. It is found to be 100% safe here. Rates are also reasonable. 3500/- per person is good for a 20 minutes ride. People operating the paragliding are professional and well experienced. I would suggest coming here and experiencing paragliding once in a lifetime. I hope to come here again. I congratulate the entire team for operating the adventure safety.

Today on 29/11/2024 I was awarded the Certificate of " Paragliding Tendem Joy Ride "by Kalimpong Paragliding Society on successful completion. My happiness knew no bounds. Right from the start I got a lot of encouragement. At 62 I was confident and Kalimpong Paragliding Society members believed in me. Ground members strapped me up safely in the safety gear instructing me all the time. Before I could realize I was already up.instructor Inder Dev the cool, calm and composed took me on to a great effortless Paraglide. Talking to me softly he made me see the stunning beauty all around including the Majestic Kanchenzonga. I felt absolutely at ease.Landed very smoothly. A very competent Instructor. Thanks Inder Dev Ji for keeping me engaged all throughout the ride. Thanks to the members who strapped me up all the while giving instructions. They were like Manuals. Above all Madam was the most inspiring person. Special Thanks to you.. This ride will now be the most cherished adventure for me.

Visit on weekends for a peaceful, less crowded experience. The monastery is about a 30 to 40-minute drive from Kalimpong market, so plan your transport ahead. On the way, you can stop near Hanuman Mandir for tea and snacks at local shops. Once there, take some quiet time to relax or meditate in the calm and beautiful surroundings.

A beautiful and peaceful spot in Kalimpong with an amazing variety of cacti and succulents — truly unique! Great for photography and a relaxing walk among nature. Entey fee is ₹20 and parking fee of ₹30 is required for all. The nursery shop is nice too, though facilities could be better and staff could be a bit more welcoming. Pay and use toilet is also available at this location Best to visit before 4 PM to explore fully.

I liked the idea of monetising one's hobby and opening it up for tourists. The cactus garden was something different and the place was clean, beautiful plants and trees were there. Place of interest for nature and botany enthusiasts.

A homegrown cactus garden, open for display to tourists, with Rs 20 ticket per head and 30 for car parking. Someone’s hobby being showcased to people is a natural artistry, plant lovers will love it. Many varieties of unique cactus on display. 1 star taken away for the narrow passage, cleanliness and lack of cacti names not being displayed.

The Cactus nursery is situated on a small road but has a large covered space inside which houses many varieties of cactus. It has separate green houses for different varieties and all are very good. We had not seen so many varieties at one place before. The plants are well maintained in natural habitat and identified with names & species. Some varieties are also available for sale. This nursery has an entry fee and is a must see for those interested in plants & nature. It's a private property of one family.. hats off to their hard work and dedication..

Ive ordered from the Nursery twice now, I must admit the first order didn't reach me in the best shape and an item was also missing due to oversight. But it was their response that has me absolutely charmed with their service. They were not only super patient with my repeated concerns about the plants but very gracious in face of my angry messages. They sent the missing bulbs quickly with a replacement for all the damaged plants without further ado. Additionally, the quality and variety of their cacti is amazing and I will continue to purchase from them in the future.

This is one of the best nursery for cactus, I have seen so far. I have never think such of varities in cactus. This is amazing place and you can't control to takes snaps of cactus plants. If you are plants lovers, please spare some time here you will get best satisfactory feelings. I would say one of the best place in Kalingpong.

Best camping experience ever, music, bonfire, barbeque & nature. Everything feels at it's best here 😍

We camped with them in March, and the hospitality was out of the world. They received us at our car, offered to carry our luggage, and showed us the well-maintained washrooms and the kitchen where they cook the food. Set up a music system for us, a barbeque and entertained us with the local stories of the people there. It was BEAUTIFUL experience, and 10/10 will recommend booking with them.

So the camping as fancy as it looks here is not actually the reality, the place should have been really surreal but they do not maintain the hygiene. We saw plastic bottles scattered there, other than this we booked our camp with WeTrekkers, they gave us the itinerary/ plan which included barbecue and main course to which we later found there, the barbecue was provided to only non vegetarians and with main course for the meal they mean either rice or chappati with the rest of the meal(for a North Indian main course means rice, chappati, curry, etc) but they won’t mention it to you earlier about this.

The gateway of Kalimpong Town. Dal Bahadur Giri Darjeeling, West Bengal Shri. Dal Bahadur Giri was the first Chairman of the Darjeeling Congress Committee. He was born on 8 March 1887 at Chowk Bazar, Darjeeling. He was the middle son of Shri. Shiv Lal Giri, who later became a sub-inspector in Darjeeling Police Department and Smt. Narvada Chettri alias Dhanmaya Chettri. In 1918 he attended the three days Indian National Congress sessions at Calcutta and met Mahatma Gandhi and Deshbandhu Chitranjan Das who was attending the same. Before attending the session of the Congress he wasn’t aware of the Congress but the excitement of others led him and he decided to attend. That day, as the session ended Gandhi took him in a motor with him, and the person that returned was a changed man. On his return to Darjeeling, he focused mainly on the propagation of the Congress ideology. He attended the 1919 Bombay and 1920, Nagpur sessions where he learned of the Non- Cooperation Movement of Gandhi and returned with a receipt book, rulebook, and other necessary Congress letters to Darjeeling and began working on the establishment of the Darjeeling branch of Congress and dedicated himself in the service of the people. In 1921, he uninvitedly attended a meeting organized by the Deputy Commissioner at the local Rink House and caused a commotion which ultimately resulted in his name being cheered by the gathering for his bravery to stand against the Deputy. Later the Deputy ordered him to leave Darjeeling but he refused to say “even if I have to sacrifice my life I will not leave my birth land”. He was jailed on 27 January 1921, the first Gorkha Gandhian freedom fighter to be jailed.

During our exploration of the park, we made several stops along the route; however, the weather limited our ability to enjoy the scenic views. Nevertheless, the park serves as a wonderful recreation area, attracting families and youth alike who come together to enjoy its offerings.
