Parc Micaud is a delightful green oasis nestled along the banks of the Doubs River, just a stone's throw from the bustling city center. This charming park features tree-lined paths that provide ample shade, making it an ideal spot for leisurely strolls or quiet contemplation. Families will appreciate the well-equipped playground, designed with safety in mind and perfect for young children to explore and play. The park also offers plenty of picnic spots where visitors can unwind while enjoying nature’s beauty.
Very beautiful Parc to enjoy and relax a bit. Yet not. a big one.

Beautiful and Calm public gardens by the river Doubs. Favourite spot in Besançon
Alex K — Google review
Lovely park along the Doubs, just a few steps away from the city centre and public transport to and from the train station. This is a great place to escape for a few minutes from the city and enjoy a bit of nature while still being close enough to be a good spot to meet up before a meal in the city. There's a play area for children, and plenty of spots to have a picnic or sit down.
Francisco O — Google review
Our 15 month old child had a great time, playing on a safe playground with rubber flooring, age appropriate playsets and an abundance of shade. A beautiful park for young children and their parents alike.

Fortress
Besançon Citadel is a 17th-century fortress designed by Sebastien Le Prestre de Vauban, located on Mount Saint-Etienne in eastern France. The well-preserved UNESCO World Heritage site offers panoramic views of the surrounding area, including the Doubs River and nearby villages. It features imposing ramparts and towers, as well as a French resistance museum.
Very nice to visit. Prepare your feet if you go by walking. There is also a bus and a little train. Panorama is simply marvelous, and the exhibitions are nice. There monkeys at the entrance having sometime good fight between them.
Charles F — Google review
If you have a car, do drive up as there is parking. The ramparts are quite spectacular as is the citadel. The views are amazing. There are several museums within though I wasn’t impressed. No matter, it’s still worth it.
Sophie C — Google review
Great place, one ticket for heaps of different things. Definitely worth a visit for the whole family.
Everyonecantravel2024 Y — Google review
Not particularly beautiful but impressive still. The citadel is rich in history, fun for all ages with its animals, fort walls and numerous museums. Do not go on the walls if it is thundering, it will be dangerous. I recommend it if you are in the area.
Sollxbx — Google review
The fortress of Besançon is a must. Some areas can be visited for free but the visit is worth the entrance fees (views, museums, zoo, restaurant)
Barefoot C — Google review
A fantastic place to spend an afternoon! Google indicated that it would be closed on the Thursday before Easter but the website said it would be open so always check there. Every ticket person or office warned me about it closing in an hour (we arrived at 4pm) but this was enough time for me and my 4 year old to go around the ramparts and see an extensive amount. Love the fact that there's a zoo inside... What a brilliant use of such a big walled space! The wooden snake art installation was also great.
Natalya M — Google review
An unprepared visit turned out as a nice activity with the children. We were a bit late so we could not visit everything but we focused on the animals. It was a nice surprise to discover the Citadel has been re-invented as a zoo. We saw some unknown species that I had not seen before, especially some wonderfully colored frogs.
Henk V — Google review
Built, as it should be, on the top of a mountain, this citadel is an excellent example of military construction. Parking and bus stop is nearby. There are a couple of museums in the fortress, which, of course, I recommend visiting. There are also a couple of cafes to relax. Well, what especially surprised us and turned out to be very pleasant was the presence of a small zoo on the territory of the fortress. Here you can see tigers and lions and some other animals. And here there is a great opportunity to look from the fortress wall at the nearby surroundings. If you are in the city, be sure to visit this fortress.

Parc de la Gare-d'Eau is a beautiful park along the Doubs river, offering a wonderful spot for picnics and leisurely strolls. It's a great place to relax and enjoy nature, with lovely views of the castle. Families can have a pleasant time here, although some visitors have noted that the restroom facilities are not well-maintained.
Great spot to have a picnic or for taking a stroll. The views of the castle are lovely and everything is well maintained.

Awesome place to have a picnic or you can hang out at the restaurant. We go with family and make a picnic. Lots of places to play with kids. If you need to go the bathroom it’s really low quality and closes before the restaurant does which is pretty terrible. Also, a fair amount of cigarette butts and trash on the grass.

The site has been occupied since 1995 by the Alcyon theater. A very nice walk... Zoo
The Zoo de Besançon offers a captivating blend of history and nature. The historic Citadel provides a unique backdrop for this interesting zoo, which ingeniously utilizes the natural variations in terrain as animal enclosures. While larger animals are not prominent, with the exception of indoor tigers, there is an abundance of monkeys, birds, and farm animals to admire. An intriguing feature is the nocturnal area housing long-tailed creatures alongside an aquarium and insect exhibit.
Fabulous panoramic views of the city. Excellent restaurant 👌
Theresa G — Google review
Lovely zoo with a great collection of very cute and noisy monkeys and lemurs. The animals looks very well treated and take care of.
Barefoot C — Google review
Very nice combination of an historic Citadel, and an interesting zoo. Really beautifully done, it's nice how they used the natural hight differences as animal fences. Don't expect the big animals (except for tigers, which we didn't see because they were indoors), but a lot of monkeys, birds, and farm animals. Nice addition is the dark area with night animals (prepare for some animals with long tails 😜), and the aquarium and insect area. Our kids of 3 and 5 enjoyed themselves a lot, while we also appreciated the Citadel and the amazing views!
Hilde A — Google review
Very nice, very well organised, very nice explanation for each
Sebysty — Google review

Elena N — Google review
Beautiful historic area, but the animals have absolutely no reason to be there. They are not from the region, or even the continent, and should not be placed on display in such small enclosures. I felt sick to my stomach and it ruined my experience of what should have been a historical visit...
Diane K — Google review
Awesome place, great food, and museums. Aquariums and plenty to see!
B. — Google review
What an amazing use of space! The citadel is beautiful and majestic on its own, but add the animals and the zoo and the family friendly features all around and this is a great place to spend a full day or just a few hours. We were there for about 3 hours and think we saw just 20% of what was available. Unfortunately the dining options were closed or we would have stayed longer.

After a test drive that we were satisfied with, we decided on this car. Due to the holidays, delivery was delayed by approximately 15 days. The preparation carried out by Mr. Siphong was perfect. The interior, bodywork, and engine compartment were in impeccable condition. During this sale, we particularly appreciated the kindness, availability, competence, and professionalism of the sales representative, Corentin. All the administrative aspects (registration and miscellaneous) were entrusted to Ms. Martinez, who was in charge of the secretarial department, ensuring that the sale was completed quickly and under the best possible conditions. In summary, this is a dealership that I highly recommend and to which I unreservedly award 5 stars. According to the workshop manager, this isn't surprising given the age of the car. This gives you an idea of the quality of today's Kia vehicles. Aquarium-Insectarium (Muséum de Besançon) is a fascinating place for both kids and adults. The Insectarium showcases creepy-crawlies like tarantulas, scorpions, and stick insects, while the small Aquarium features goldfish and koi. Visitors can also explore the Noctarium with nocturnal rodents, a six-room biodiversity exhibition, and a zoo. The venue is well-organized and educational, making it a great family or friends' outing.
Really huge place with so much to see! Perfect for family with kids! Drinks are plentiful, but if you want a great lunch walk to the city instead. Watch out and don't go to the back entrance because then you have driven the wrong way and you have to backtrack 😅

(Translated by Google) To start a small but very well made aquarium with very well constructed fish tanks. They made sure to get as close as possible to reality (with the reproduction of currents for certain species of fish). Very nice experience. For the aquarium we can find an outdoor part with Koi carp in a small pond and a very beautiful garden. Then for the Insectarium, grandiose!!! As soon as we arrived (upstairs), we were able to observe behind the insects a probably research laboratory. If you like frogs, spiders and so on you will be served! There are frogs of all colors (blue, yellow, green...), the first time I saw so many different ones! BE CAREFUL if you are phobic or have a great fear of spiders, read the posters at the top before looking at the enclosures. There are HUGE spiders. Otherwise overall for both, a very well maintained species, with splendid and lively animals. A place to do at least once!! I recommend to do 👍 (Visit included in the citadel ticket at 12€50 for adults and 9€50 for students) (Original) Pour commencer un aquarium petit mais très bien fait avec des bassins pour les poissons très bien construits.
