Nestled in the charming old quarter of Mainz, the Gutenberg Museum stands as a testament to the revolutionary impact of Johannes Gutenberg, the pioneer behind movable type printing. Established in 1900 to commemorate his 500th birthday, this museum is one of the oldest dedicated to printing and attracts visitors from around the globe.
Small museum run by strict time and appointments. We were on a local guide tour, so he did the actual printing demonstration and gave us background and insights. I'm not sure how a walk-in would have been treated. Very interesting museum and a great addition to my knowledge of Gutenberg. Give it a try.
Alan — Google review
Beautifully curated museum with several original printed books, specially 3 bibles. A very good printed demonstration, from the making of the letters to the final printed page, both in English and German with a replica of the printing machine. Negative: A very unhelpful large and seated guardian next to the interactive picture box, most interested in moving people along than in helping with the experience.
Claudia B — Google review
You are given a card that lets you activate some of the exhibits, and at the end you can print your photo in the style of block printing onto the card. There is a demonstration of printing and the presenter gave interesting facts and was very knowledgeable.
Holly M — Google review
Awesome experience of the Gutenberg museum and in excellent opportunity to see one of the Gutenberg Bibles. Actually four of them. It's absolutely amazing that these were the first books printed by the Gutenberg press. A worthwhile experience to visit this historic place. Highly recommend visiting the Gutenberg museum and seeing the original Gutenberg Bible. They are absolutely priceless books as every single one of the 47 of them are different because they were sold as separate pages and made into books by the buyers after they purchase them which we understand is the price of a home to purchase the pages back when they were newly off the press
Ed R — Google review
It's a small museum but very well done. When I visited in Nov 2025 they had the word "Moved" in the name to emphasize that it's final location is under renovation and it is just temporarily adjacent to the natural history museum. Indeed I almost wandered into the natural history museum trying to find it. The first room had a 3D table of Mainz and narrated a story of his life (both in English and German). Indeed in spite of what some past reviews said, the museum seems to have stepped up their game and most descriptions were in both German and English. The main attraction, the two original Bibles we're well displayed and surprisingly uncrowded. I was able to go back two and study them.
Knud H — Google review
1.5 hours was NOT enough. Didn't get to the demonstrations upstairs. (I visited the "Moved!" version in June 2025.) Anyone in graphic design, journalism or communications will appreciate the overarching themes and attention to detail. The Bibles themselves, and the additional works displayed alongside them, were presented very well and in an interesting manner.
E. L — Google review
The Gutenberg Museum is a fascinating and well-worthwhile visit. While I was a bit confused by the natural history aspect, I soon discovered that the main exhibition is temporarily located inside the Natural History Museum—a detail that, once understood, didn't detract from the experience at all. My primary interest was learning more about Johannes Gutenberg, and the museum did an excellent job of that. The exhibits are fantastic, especially the chance to see some of the first printed bibles up close. I also appreciated the use of modern technology to make the history more relatable, particularly the fun machine that lets you create a selfie with a printed page. My only regret is that I didn't get to see a demonstration of the printing press in action. Overall, it's a great experience and excellent value for money.

It is a must see. Less than an hour away from Frankfurt airport. Parking is an issue. So plan your trip. The ticket is €10. Very nice shop and staff.

Cathedral

Nestled in the heart of Mainz, the Mainz Cathedral, also known as St. Martin and St. Stephen, is a stunning example of Romanesque architecture that has captivated visitors for centuries. With its impressive six towers reaching towards the sky, this architectural marvel was constructed starting in AD 975 under Archbishop Willigis and draws inspiration from Rome's iconic St. Peter's Basilica.
Mainz Cathedral is truly a masterpiece of Romanesque architecture and a place where you instantly feel the weight of history—and the serenity of the present. From the moment you approach its striking red sandstone façade and soaring towers, the cathedral commands attention. Yet, once inside, what stands out most is the calm and quiet atmosphere. The interior, with its high vaulted ceilings, delicate stained-glass windows, and softly lit chapels, invites reflection and stillness. Each corner offers something unique: from colorful modern stained-glass windows to beautifully preserved medieval sculptures and ornate altars. The cathedral is not only a feast for the eyes but also a deeply spiritual space, whether you’re religious or not. Sitting in the long nave, surrounded by centuries-old stone and gentle candlelight, brings a sense of grounding and peace. A small exhibit area shares more about the cathedral’s long and storied past, and there are plenty of nooks to explore if you enjoy architecture, art, or quiet contemplation. Right in the heart of Mainz, this is a must-visit spot that feels worlds away from the busy streets just outside.
Ishantha H — Google review
A stunning landmark right at the heart of Mainz! The cathedral is massive and full of history, with its beautiful Romanesque architecture and peaceful atmosphere. Walking inside feels like stepping back in time, with impressive stonework, chapels, and artworks to admire. The surrounding Domplatz adds to the charm, with plenty of cafés and shops around. Definitely a must-visit if you’re in Mainz!
Midhun M — Google review
Impressive structure! Lots of history in the area yet, unlike other similar cathedral areas in other towns, this one feels lively amd young.. Definitely a different and welcome vibe!
Brian B — Google review
The Mainz Cathedral is absolutely mesmerizing! The moment you step inside, you’re transported to another time. The massive pillars, soaring ceilings, and the way light filters through the stained glass—it’s like walking into a movie scene. Every corner tells a story. Peaceful yet majestic, this place leaves you in awe. If you visit Mainz and miss this cathedral, you’re truly missing out! ⛪✨
Muhacir — Google review
Beautiful cathedral. Lovely garden area as you come in. I was in a bit of a hurry so I was not able to figure out how to climb the tower but I hope I can come back sometime and try. Crypt was neat to see. Fun murals of gospel scenes above the clerestory level along the nave. Some interesting sid chapels to include one of the more vibrant colored crucifixion paintings I've seen in a cathedral.
Knud H — Google review
Much larger than I thought. They have a “biggest bible” page there which isn’t that aesthetic but the rest of the cathedral is impressive. Definitely worth a stop.
Ben P — Google review
The cathedral is beautiful. I came here on a Thursday afternoon and there was no wait at all and there was minimal people inside. Be careful if there is a service happening and be respectful of the space if so. There is a museum but I didn't go inside there. The architecture in the cathedral is worth the visit to come see. Be aware that as of may 2025 there is major construction happening on the outside of the cathedral so it is covered in scaffolding. Its free to enter the church but donations are welcome. Be prepared to translate most of the signage if you do not speak German. There is a wheelchair ramp going into the main section of the cathedral and the main cathedral floor is flat but all of the side rooms and passageways have steps and are not handicap accessible.
Jonathan S — Google review
Very unique cathedral as you enter it on the side and both ends are raised, appearing to have two altar areas. Loved the macabre vibes of one of the arch bishops casket.

St. Stephan's Church, also known as the Catholic Parish Church of St. Stephan, is a significant religious site in Mainz with a rich history dating back to 990 AD. The church features stunning stained glass windows created by Marc Chagall and a late-Gothic cloister that adds to its allure. Despite suffering severe damage from an explosion and air raids during World War II, the church has been meticulously restored to its former glory.
A great experience. Wonderfull windows by Chagall. An ocean in blue. Lovely organ. The light in this church is something very special. A must in Mainz.
Frank O — Google review
Very moving. The Chagall windows are just breathtaking. Visit in the early afternoon to see the church glowing in the most Devine stunning blue.
Michelle — Google review
Church with amazing windows made by Schagal. A must-see in Mainz. Also the cloister next to the church is quite nice.
Jerzy J — Google review
Hidden gem of Mainz! I have been outside in the church cloistered courtyard, which is relatively small but very beautiful and picturesque, many times, however this was my first time inside the church and I was really impressed. I had no idea there was such a beautiful church in Mainz! This place is known for its unique stained-glass windows in luminous blue that were created by Marc Chagall. The light coming through the windows was absolutely stunning and created an almost unreal ambience, I felt like being under water. I have never seen such beautiful lighting in any church I have visited (visited mid-day with clear skies, so nothing was blocking the sun beams to enter the church). I also enjoyed the beautiful modern Organs near the chancel with the altar. There is a little gift shop inside, where you can buy souvenirs like postcards, books and magnets mainly with the blue window theme. Church is wheel-chair accessible and there is no entrance fee. Totally recommend to visit this church as pictures don't really do justice, you must see it with your own eyes to have the full experience. Visited in May 2022.
Pavel D — Google review
Beautiful church has many Marc Chagall stain glass. On the negative side, watch you step a member of our party missed the small steps and was carted off to the hospital. Church staff could of cared less. We had to get her there on our own.
Jeffrey K — Google review
A place where you can feel your connection with the vast and be alone with your faith. Marc Chagall's stained glass windows are incredibly beautiful, you stop thinking and only the soul remains.

The Landesmuseum Mainz, also known as the Mainz State Museum, is a treasure trove of local and medieval artifacts, European paintings, and sculptures. The museum boasts an impressive collection that spans centuries, from prehistoric times to the modern era. Visitors can marvel at a diverse array of exhibits including art donated by Napoleon himself. The museum's collections are systematically divided into eight major parts, showcasing everything from prehistoric and Roman-era displays to medieval coins and Egyptian artifacts.
This is a small and eclectic museum. I appreciated learning about the local history, viewing Judaica items, and medieval art. The employees were welcoming. I felt that they were genuinely happy to share with visitors.

I paid 6 euros for entrance. There is a locker for your stuff. Nice museum to see some romanich german historical ruins. Also, you can see some old mosaic pieces from the Rome period in Mainz. Also some furniture, paintings, glass collection thay have. Inside also nice cafe. You don't need to buy a museum ticket for a cafe.
Murat C — Google review
The exhibitions are good, the information on the website adds nicely to the information printed next to the exhibit. The cafe had very nice cake. The only thing lacking was a sense of timeline. Signposting the Roman history then the early medieval, then later history in order would be good. We did several rooms in the wrong order, but only realised later in a room about an earlier period.
Worthy O — Google review
Amazing museum spanning so many different cultures and time periods. Our favorite highlights were the Roman artifacts as well as the Art Nouveau exhibit. Only €6 per Adult, with very affordable garage parking next door. Don’t miss the chance to visit if you are vacationing in the area.
V C — Google review
A fun museum! I really enjoyed the collection of paintings. The roman mosaics were also nice.

🏛️ Landesmuseum Mainz is absolutely stunning! The building itself is a work of art, with gorgeous architecture that adds to the whole experience. 🎨 Inside, the collection is just as impressive, with beautifully curated exhibits that make the visit even more memorable. The blend of history and design makes it a must-see spot. 🌟
Brian M — Google review
The two ladies in the cashier's counter were very friendly and helpful. I don't have a coin for the locker, but the ladies let me borrow a 2 euro coin for it. The museum is just about the right size. I suggest you use the elevator. The doors for the exhibition rooms are a little hard to open, but there are buttons to open the doors automatically.

Restaurant
Eisgrub-Bräu is a 19th-century venue turned informal gastropub that offers a hearty menu and on-site brewed beers. The former ice cellar now serves up three types of beer alongside gastropub-style dishes like schnitzel and spundekase. The atmosphere is perfect for enjoying authentic cuisine with friends, family, or large groups.
Best pork knuckles in Germany!!! Strongly recommended! We have gone to the same restaurant for lunch three times in a row!!! Never done this before!
NZAURUSS — Google review
Great food and beers. Portions are huge. They also sell bottled beers that you have to use within 10 days. Luckily some of the waiters speak English otherwise I would have been completely lost. I think booking might be a good idea, the place is very big but very popular too.
Emilio M — Google review
The pork knuckle was giant and delicious. The house light beer was also good. It was nice sitting outside with the breeze. There were lots of flies though, so, if you don’t like insects, you may want to eat indoors.
Ben P — Google review
Called for a last minute reservation, they could not have been friendlier, found us a table on top floor (super cold Ac!) and amazing server, we had our beers in 5 minutes everyone was so friendly! Food we ordered schnitzel and added on mushroom sauce and red cabbage, and had brats and a salad everything was amazing, and huge portions. Highly recommend can’t wait to come back
RENEE F — Google review
Very good experience. The servers were super nice, made some recommendations and even allowed me to taste their ipa beer before ordering. The food was very tasty and the portions were quite big. Would really recommend it.
Carmen C — Google review
Very typical German place in Mainz. It was recommended to us. I liked it, the food, it is like a tavern, which makes it very typical. I ordered spätzle with meat and some sauce, very tasty. 😋 Some guests on the other tables ordered like a gigant bier tube, it was enormous. Pitty that I don’t like to drink alcohol, otherwise it would have been a whole experience to have tried that thing. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Carmen A — Google review
No waiting time needed on a weekday evening. The place is actually quite big including seems like an underground floor. It gets more and more crowded as the night goes. Food did not take long to arrive. Portions were good in general. We ordered 2 pork knuckles for 6 persons and it still seemed too much. The seasoning for all dishes was not very salty and would not make you crave for water after every bite. The restaurant is pet-friendly as I saw a Lab was allowed to enter with the owners, which was very nice.
Kero C — Google review
The place has a great atmosphere—an original old pub. Beer is even better. The pork shank I had was not good. The more it cooled, the more it resembled dry wood. In the end, it was even very hard to chew. I managed to eat a third of it. I will come back for the beer and the atmosphere, maybe try something else to eat.

Augustinerkeller is a rustic, old-style cellar in Mainz, Germany that offers a delightful dining experience. The place has a cool vibe and serves traditional German dishes like schnitzel, pork knuckles, and beef roulade that are tender and flavorful. It's a great spot for those seeking authentic home-style cuisine in a charming setting. Additionally, the wine selection includes Rhine Valley wines and Bavarian beer to complement the delicious meals.
Great food and well located, would recommend. Augustinerkeller has a good range of steaks, salads, schnitzels and sausages. Quite expensive but we thought the food was great quality and very tasty.
Jonathan — Google review
Nice german food. Besides beer, they also offer good wines.
Jason S — Google review
A great restaurant to sit outside and people-watch while you eat. More traditional German food, which is what I was looking for. The only thing they didn't have was the jogurt dressing for the salad. I had the French onion soup and the Jager schnitzel with mushroom cream sauce and fries. My friend had the saurebrotten. I really enjoyed meal.
LaRonda G — Google review
One of the best restaurants in Mainz!!! Super Delicious and Tasty Goulash and Sauerbraten cuisine dishes!!! The soups are Awesome as well!!!💯💖🇩🇪🥰💯
Edward M — Google review
We had dinner (party of 2) at Augustinerkeller on a Saturday at 9 pm and were seated immediately. We got the pork schnitzel Jager style (mushroom sauce), pork knuckle (Schweinshaxe), apple strudel, and apple pancakes. We don't know if these are "authentically" Germany but enjoyed our meals. The pork schnitzel was very tender and the pork knuckle was a large portion with a lot of tasty crispy skin. I thought the apple strudel was better than the apple pancakes. We were seated on the 2nd floor of the restaurant and it was quite toasty. I would recommend Augustinerkeller if you are looking for a causal dining spot for German food.
Vivian A — Google review
Very cozy restaurant with a little balcony floor that I got to eat on. Service was friendly. I got there right when it opened at noon and it filled up in about 20 minutes. Got the Jager schnitzel (mushroom cream sauce) with fries and salad. Nice thin flakey breeding. Got the Augustiener Helles which was quite good.
Knud H — Google review
Nice and cozy place, food was not that tasty but overall we had a nice time

Heiliggeist is a unique restaurant located in a former church hospital, offering a blend of history and delicious German cuisine. The venue features a vaulted interior with Gothic appeal and a courtyard terrace resembling a garden. Guests can savor seasonal dishes such as roasted pork knuckle, wiener schnitzel, fresh salads, soups, sausages, and an array of beer options. While the resonant hall may pose challenges for conversation indoors, the outdoor seating provides an enchanting atmosphere.
Heiliggeist in Mainz is an incredible place with a unique atmosphere. Located in a beautiful historic building, it combines impressive architecture with excellent food and great service. The menu offers a wonderful selection of traditional German dishes with a modern twist, and everything we tried was delicious. The staff was very friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Whether you’re stopping by for a casual meal or celebrating something special, Heiliggeist is absolutely worth a visit. Highly recommend!
Philipp — Google review
I would absolutely return to Heiliggeist! The setting was terrific, the service was excellent, and the food was delicious. The staff was very helpful, and remained patient with us even though our German is awful. Each waiter and waitress seamlessly switched the English which made things much easier. I got the Steak Frites and my wife had the Filet Mignon, both of which were cooked perfectly. The accompanying sauces complimented the meats quite well. We were never rushed, and were able to enjoy a fantastic evening. Eating at a former church whose history dates back to the 1200s was an added bonus. Would definitely recommend!
Nate P — Google review
I had dinner at Heiliggeist on a Friday. Reservations were required. The staff speaks English and they offered an English menu. We tried the spundkas and wiener schnitzel with lingonberry (recommend by the waiter). I have no idea of the spundkas was authentic but we enjoyed it and it was served with a soft pretzel. This was my first wiener schnitzel and it was made with veal so incredibly tender. I liked it with the lingonberry jam - I think the acidity from the jam is needed otherwise it would be too heavy. Overall, we enjoyed the food and the waiter was friendly with us non-German speakers. The only thing we didn't like was that it took over an hour for us to get our food.
Vivian A — Google review
Great service and delicious food. The watermelon salad was the perfect starter as the schnitzel takes awhile to prepare but was well worth the wait. Staff spoke excellent English and humored by attempts at German

I tried the traditional Wiener Schnitzel and was not disappointed. Very healthy portions. We also tried the tomato soup and pretzels with a dip. We finished with a crème brûlée and latte. The soup was ok. The pretzels were store bag pretzels and the dip was ok.

To our surprise we did not have a reservation and got a seat outside (saturday night) . The place was packed but they had tons of space outside. Service was good , nothing crazy . The food was very good , the truffle fries were to die for and also the tomato soup . Overall we enjoyed the place , good drinks and good food. The place itself is beautiful just to look at, so is very cool you get the chance to eat there . The only thing we did not understand is that in the menu it says the service is included and then when we got the bill we were asked for tip . I find it was a bit pricey so definitely visiting for special occasions.

Wilma Wunder is a versatile establishment with two locations in Mainz, offering a blend of bistro cafe, city restaurant, and lounge bar. It provides a cozy and welcoming atmosphere for patrons to enjoy breakfast, lunch, dinner, or evening drinks. The venue features indoor seating as well as outdoor dining options. Additionally, it caters to various dietary preferences including vegetarian and vegan dishes.
A very busy but efficient restaurant in the market area of Mainz. It was busy on a Saturday afternoon but the staff seated people very promptly. The drinks were unique with fresh fruit water and elevated cocktails. The special pumpkin risotto with vegetable chips was creamy and full of pumpkin and walnuts. The ravioli was filled with smoked salmon and had a creamy sauce. The spinach soup was finished with a soft egg and accompanied with crispy bread. Beef goulash had a rich sauce with red cabbage and spatzele. The end of the meal was a wonderful apple streudel with vanilla bourbon sauce. Perfect meal in a beautiful city.

the service is delightful! we had a bridal shower dinner there and they helped us a lot! the place was also sooo beautiful. the meals for lunch-dinner are okay. i believe this place is more suited for brunches so i would love to come back to try that!

Wilma Wunder in Mainz has a great vibe - bright, cozy, directly at the Market Square and perfect for a casual meal or brunch with friends. The food was fresh and nicely done and the drinks were spot-on. Service can get a bit slow when it is busy but everyone is friendly and the atmosphere makes up for it. Solid spot overall.

The view from the terrace is beautiful, it's a great start to the experience you get here. The staff is friendly and hard working, the food is delicious and the beer is divine. I will be back again for brunch when I visit the wonderful country next. My only "complaint" would be the wifi keeps dropping

Got scammed at this restaurant. I ordered just one main course and one drink, namely Lachs-Spinat-Nudeln (15,90€) and Blaubeer-Basilikum-Limo (6,80€). When I asked for the bill, I was told to pay 29,50€ and I didn’t pay too much attention so I just paid with my card. However I did ask for the receipt. When I got back to the hotel and checked my receipt again, I realised the waitress only gave me my credit card payment receipt, NOT the receipt with my orders. It was missing a corner too. Then I remember this restaurant has online menus so I just looked up and checked, the sum of my two orders would ONLY be 22,70€. I DID NOT offer to tip! I hope this was a mistake but to all the tourists, please be extra careful! The food was delicious though.

Great place to get German cuisine but in a little more refined and creative style! As I’m not German, I can’t really speak how that German dish I had really fits into German taste buds, but both for me, my parents and friends from abroad, the food was really great! Huge appreciation for vegan variants of German dishes!! Finally I could taste something German while being on vegan diet 😍 Big plus for really great coordination of servers and handling our reservation, while the restaurant was totally full. Maybe tiny minus for the place being really loud, the tables are very close to each other, we had little trouble chatting, but nothing not manageable :) Loved it and will return!

The wine bar Weinhaus Michel in Mainz offers an exceptional experience with its amazing hospitality. The waiter, Philipp, is a remarkable individual who provides outstanding service. The atmosphere is enjoyable, especially the outdoor seating area. The establishment's focus on local specialties and their own produced wines adds to the overall charm of the place. The schnitzel and spundekas are particularly noteworthy dishes.
Great wine and excellent service. We felt cosy in this lovely place.

Horrible place, expecially let's say a main lady, seems to be there with no reason, no nice. I wanted to invite my friends there, but no way now. A restaurant - this word means not only food...

Weinhaus Michel in Mainz’s Altstadt offers quality wines at fair prices, excellent service, and an authentic atmosphere—perfect for a date or special night out. The menu features simple yet refined dishes made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. While the cuisine leans towards tradition rather than innovation, its execution is top-notch. The cozy yet lively setting adds to the charm, though peak hours can be bustling. Reservations are recommended. Overall, a great spot for wine lovers seeking a refined yet relaxed dining experience.

I wish I could have given it a better rating. But unfortunately if you're not white, then expect to wait almost 40 minutes before anyone might come by your table to take your order. However they had amazing wine to try out. I wish though that we could have tried more but the waitress only came by once to take your order. And we had to leave after waiting for over 2 hours to order our second round.

I can't say anything about the food because I didn't have it. But the atmosphere and the alcohol was amazing. The staff was really friendly and the place is just really cute. One should visit at least for a drink.

Nestled in the heart of Mainz, the Museum of Ancient Seafaring (Museum für Antike Schifffahrt) is a captivating destination for history enthusiasts and families alike. Since its opening in 1994, this unique museum has showcased an impressive collection that highlights the evolution of maritime technology through time. Visitors can marvel at six full-scale replicas of vessels ranging from simple paddleboats to majestic Roman galleons, each telling a story of ancient navigation and seafaring life.
Shows how selected trees were cut to shape ship hulls both by Romans and Vikings. Hulls of Roman boats were found on River bank during building construction. Verrrry Interesting, visited about 20 years ago while staying at Favorite Park Inn.

Excellent food and wine, down a small alleyway off the main square. Good value, good atmosphere. We chose to eat outside for Saturday lunch and the parasols were big enough to protect us from a short shower of rain. No need to book for lunch. Waiter spoke good English and told us his favourites from the menu. Enjoyed the pigs cheek and the chicken, washed down with a nice bottle of local red Cabernet Sauvignon.

I believe this is the best restaurant in Mainz serving local cuisine. Limited menu, great food prepared with love and care. If you are craving average greasy Bürgerliche Küche, not your spot :) . You do get delicious salads, stews, local appetizers, ... and a broad wine selection.

Delicious.... That's all I can say about this little tucked away place down a small street The melon with mint and spicy peanuts was so fresh and light but had a little kick at the end from the spicy peanuts, perfect for a summer evening dinner. The show stopper was the pork loin. The perfectly cooked and tender loin was accompanied by creamy potatoes, carrots, and rich mushrooms that made this not only savory but a perfect way to end the day. It was rich but not overly rich. I tried two of the by the glass red wines... The cab and one of the pinos. Both were excellent but I favored the Pinot. They offered cream brulee but I had no more room. Maybe next time.

When you get seated at the same table as people you are not grouped with, check your bill very closely. I realized when I got home that we were billed for things we didn't eat. And of course they don't reply to their email. For the rest a lovely place worth visiting, not too many options and a tad expensive, but no regrets on that level.

Went here because it showed up on a list of best paces for wine…. Heck it is called a Weinstube…. Big miss there! Showed up and got seated. Menu came asked for wine advice - nothing…. Pretty much - oh- you are not having red meat - have a white whine…. Doesn’t matter what you pick…. We ordered the food. Not bad in the food area. We got it ate it, drank the arbitrary wine…. Wanted some dessert. Second server came over - told us she does not drink wine at all so no idea. Turned out to be great advice as the order we gave her was totally ignored - as was the dessert we ordered. So we waited for 30 minutes for nothing - nobody checking on us, nothing…. Finally we were able to get first server back to get the final check edited for the stuff we did not get and got out… 90 minutes we will not get back and wasted Time thinking we were going to get wine advice. Better off reading the internet - I pass.

The ambiance at Zum Goldstein is impressive, with a charming and stunning tree located in the center of the patio. The cuisine is exceptional, leaving patrons completely satisfied as they eagerly devour their plates. The service provided is top-notch, ensuring that every customer feels attended to and valued. Additionally, the prices are reasonable for the generous portions offered. To complement the meal, a bottle of wine recommended by the staff proved to be an excellent choice without any regrets.
Beautiful restaurant hidden in the old streets of Mainz! We came without reservations for Sunday lunch and had no problem securing a seat. The waitress was very proactive and brought us English menus by just observing us talking - very attentive and customer oriented service. Throughout the 3 hours we spent here she was pleasant, friendly, talkative, and explanatory and we felt like we were taken care of the whole time! The drink menu, especially the wine selection was quite large therefore I found a nice sweet wine to enjoy sipping throughout the afternoon. I also tried their home based aperitif made of rosemary, grapefruit and secco which was very tasty and I appreciated restaurants such as this that have their own signature drink. Food, typically German cuisine, was great as well. I had the beetroot salad with feta (originally with goat cheese but I was able to swap it without a blink of an eye) - a perfect appetizer on a hot day - and the roast beef with potatoes and onion as main dish was tender and tasty, however quite a large portion. I also very much enjoyed the layout of the beer garden - very cozy, with a great vibe and surrounded by huge horse chestnut trees. That proved to be the perfect location to eat and relax on a hot summer day! It is located in a quiet neighborhood offering a tranquil environment. Paid by card. Visited in July 2022.

In my opinion quality of the food is overrated to start with. We were a group of 5 people and the waiter forgot my order. I had to wait another 20 minutes before being served. After a delightful afternoon wandering through the enchanting Christmas markets, I found myself dining at Weinhaus Wilhelmi, a charming wine tavern nestled in Mainz. Renowned for its cozy and rustic ambiance, this establishment has been a beloved fixture in the city for over a century.
It was a very nice place. The food was marvelous, and the desserts were also great. If you have the chance, order the tiramisu—it was fantastic. The staff were very helpful and managed to find a table for us, even though it was a crowded and busy evening.

This restaurant was very homey, from the outside it looked small but it actually had 3 floors and was quite busy for a Monday. Schnitzel and potatoes were amazing but priced at 23 euros. I wanted to try the palatinate delicacy saumagen though tasted like regular sausage to me (still worth trying though if you're in mainz) . Reisling Wine was sweet and lovely. Great dinner but a bit pricey

The Spundekäse was fantastic! In addition, the schnitzel was top notch and the potatoes that accompanied the schnitzel was the best I've had in Germany! Pleasant atmosphere, as well!

Giving it 5 Stars for the service and experience of dining there. Visited on a Saturday evening during February carnival. Lots of locals in interest costumes from the 17th & 18th century. In terms of food: schnitzel (average portion size, but good taste) & salad (generous size, with meat). Both on the high end of the cost range though... Staff speak English and are friendly. Apparently the place has a long tradition for carnival activities and a mini museum on the first floor, which was interesting.

Food was not satisfactory especially given the price. In addition, they charge extras like salad or potatoes additionally. The price for a steak is for meat only, beware. Not recommended.

We came here with 5 guys on a Saturday evening at 6pm ahead of the crowd. One meal came with the sides of another. After that they managed to forget one meal and did not even care. Just after mentioning they tried to fix, but didn’t deliver before everyone finished on the table while bringing the same dish to other tables. Overall an unpleasant experience for the prices they charge. We are from the region and would never come back. I can not recommend to people visiting from far away.

The Mainz Citadel, also known as the Citadel of Mainz, is a historic military fortress built in 1660 and situated on Jakobsberg Hill at the fringe of Mainz Old Town. It overlooks the ruins of the Roman amphitheater and offers panoramic views of the city. The citadel features four bastions and occasionally hosts events such as theatrical performances. Visitors can explore the grounds for free and enjoy the natural surroundings amidst the urban setting.
Great place to enjoy an afternoon stroll or just sit on the grass and relax with a book. On Sunday afternoon the place was super quiet with only Restaurant Citadelle being open. We got there on scooters but it is in walkable distance from Römisches Theater S-Bahn station, however a car park is available in the premises of the Citadelle as well. Currently (May 2022) there is a lot going on and parts of the Citadelle are under construction, nevertheless it is worth visiting this historical monument.

Cozy little cafe in Mainz close to the Cathedral. Good outside and inside sitting, very good healthy breakfast choices, great coffee! Excellent sservice.

Very good pistachio cake and also the salty stuff was high quality and perfectly sized. The personnel was among the most amiable I have met in Germany. The outside terrace was also much appreciated.

Wow of a hidden gem in Mainz! Best way to start the day! Exceptionally hospitable service by Fritz & colleagues! Flat white & pistachio cake are heavenly!

We ordered pancakes, coffee and matcha lattes. Everything was delicious! The pancakes were fluffy and the matcha was perfectly sweetened - one of the best matchas I have had. The waitresses very very efficient and friendly and spoke English as well. The atmosphere was super cozy, but modern as well. I would definitely go back. I would recommend making a reservation though - they were very very busy when we were there on a Sunday morning. And they were fully booked until around 12h00.

Really enjoyed this cozy spot in Mainz. We went for breakfast and the menu has extensive options, including for vegetarians or vegans. It was a highlight of our trip for sure.

A nice coffee shop in the heart of Mainz. The drinks are good and the vegan options are in general original and delicious. Sometimes the service can be long even if you arrive one of the first at the opening. Down side they charge extra for alternative milk.

Really boring food, taste very bland and the egg was too old. We could not finish the food, overall very overrated and overpriced. The waitress was very nice tho

Very cozy and comfortable café in mainz downtown. In one if the old streets of mainz is this beautiful coffe/restaurant. The service amazing there, they are friendly and they care for you. I really appreciate how the deal with people. The quality of food is fresh and delicious. One negative point is the quantity. The prices are little bit high. I think they should change a little bit more the menu prices. I really recommende this place to everyone visiting mainz downtown.

Weinhaus Schreiner is a great choice for those seeking authentic German cuisine. It is not a chain restaurant, but rather a place where you can truly enjoy the food and ambiance. Food allergies and veganism are not catered to here, so keep that in mind. The restaurant offers traditional decor and friendly service, creating a welcoming atmosphere. The menu includes excellent dishes such as fresh fish and perfectly cooked pasta. Additionally, they have an impressive selection of local wines to complement your meal.
Loved it, came in without a reservation and managed to get seated. Superb, friendly service and the food and wine were top notch. Glad I screwed up my reservation elsewhere as this was outstanding.

Ideal spot along the river. Very nice selection of local wines either by the glass or bottle. The menu has local specialities. We had the cheese starter, duck rilette, and veal with bratkartofeln. Delicious. Great service too.

The Römisch-Germanisches Zentralmuseum is a fascinating historical and archaeological museum that delves into the ancient world prior to the discovery of the Americas. It serves as both a museum and a research institute, offering valuable insights into our past. The museum is organized into seven departments, each focusing on different aspects of this rich history.
(Translated by Google) The exhibition in the palace has been closed since 2017, and the opening of the exhibition at the new location is now planned for 2027. The building was completed in 2022. Since the Stone Hall in the State Museum is closed at the same time, the Museum of Ancient Shipping is also closed, and the replica of the Great Jupiter Column has been dismantled for an indefinite period since 2018, Mainz has more or less had to make do without the Roman heritage. The students growing up today cannot be introduced to this heritage and will have little understanding in the future why they have to spend taxpayers' money on such things. This is not sustainable.

They are dedicated to sharing their expertise to shape the future of excellent coffee. The café's unique ambiance both indoors and outdoors provides an inviting space to relax.
A very pleasant place in Mainz 🌸 I discovered this café spontaneously, while wandering around the city. I was attracted by the café's small window through which you can place an order. Since then, every time I go back to Mainz, I return to this café. The latte is really good and I'd like to give a special mention to their banana bread with a knob of butter on top, which is just excellent ! It's the perfect place for a solo date or a date with friends :))

My experience at this café was truly wonderful. The atmosphere is unique and cozy, with a modern design and artistic touches that make the visit enjoyable. The coffee itself was excellent – rich, well-balanced, and clearly prepared with great care and high-quality beans. I also appreciated the friendly and efficient service, which made the overall experience even better. This café clearly reflects a passion for coffee and attention to the small details that leave a lasting impression. For me, it’s definitely one of the must-visit spots for anyone who loves great coffee and a special vibe. I will surely come back again.

Frankly, it's an overrated place. The owner is a bit arrogant and hesitant to speak. When I examined the packaged coffees on the shelf, he reacted angrily; I think he's using them as a painting. The coffee tastes ordinary.

A good coffee place with a very and friendly staff and a cosy outside seating. The pastry - a shortbread - was good as well. On the other hand, the coffee was a bit a disappointment: not bad overall, but definitely not up to the standard - too creamy and watery, coffee taste itself felt weak.

Very small museum. You can be in and out in 30 minutes. Family ticket was 12 euros. Nothing in English, but thankfully, we had Google translate on our phones. There were no book guides in English, either. Looks like they’re renovating. With these renovations, they should highly consider English translations of the plaques also especially since it is in a touristy area. Kids ages 17, 15, 10, and 2. It was just ok for them.

It was absolutely amazing! Taxidermy pieces are in an immaculate state, everything is displayed in such a nice way. Went on Sunday and we were the only visitors there which was so peaceful. Deinotherium is their central piece and it is magnificent. My German is not good so I couldn’t understand what it said under each exhibition info, but with the modern technology and Google translate it wasn’t a problem.

Lili, a circular shopping center in close proximity to Wiesbaden's Central Station, offers a wide range of vendors and a dining plaza. The mall has an impressive selection of shops, although it would be more convenient if universal shopping carts were provided nearer to the stores to eliminate the need for multiple trips to the car. Action, akin to a competitive dollar general version, is renowned for its comprehensive assortment of home products such as garden, office, kitchen, hobby, and bathroom supplies.
Great place for one stop shopping. A great toy store with a huge selection. The Rewe is large grocery store. An amazing Asian grocery store that even sells dishes. The Action, Woolworth and Tedi have everything from craft supplies to garden equipment, decor, dishes and clothing. Costume jewelry and several clothing stores. The Roman Aqueduct Ruins, also known as "Romersteine" in Mainz, were constructed between 69 and 96 AD to supply water to the stationed legions. Although it used to span 9 km, much of the structure has deteriorated over time due to materials being repurposed for other construction during the middle ages. Despite this, several pillars of the aqueduct are still standing and can be explored via a peaceful uphill walkway with benches along the path.
Really enjoyed walking around and seeing these ancient ruins! Not great places to park and it doesn't take too long to see. Would recommend a visit if you're in the area.

Everything in the museum is only in German, but I was able to use Google translate to translate all of the signage inside the museum. It’s such an interesting museum if you live in the area, and I would not recommend driving to this museum if you live outside of Mainz or Wiesbaden. You can learn about the history of the area, from the Romans until the Fasnacht festivals today! The docents are very friendly. There are bathrooms inside of the museum that are free. Rambazamba Kinderspielparadies Mainz is a spacious and fun-filled indoor playground suitable for children over 2 years old. The play area features inflatable jumps, Bobby cars, and cycles, offering plenty of entertainment for the little ones. While there may not be a wide variety of activities, it's perfect for about 2 hours of kids' fun. The on-site cafeteria offers reasonably priced food, including freshly prepared pizzas that are popular among visitors.
I’ve visited this place many times with my kids for birthday parties, and it’s always been a fun-filled experience. The activities and games keep children entertained for hours, making it a great spot for celebrations. While it can get crowded at times, the kids always have a fantastic time and are fully engaged in all the activities. The food is also good—fresh, tasty, and satisfying for both kids and adults. The staff are friendly and helpful, which adds to the overall positive experience. Overall, it’s a reliable and enjoyable place to celebrate birthdays and create happy memories for children.
Sneha — Google review
The place was more than noisy and completely overcrowded. One was not allowed to bring food or a drink of water, but the staff at the food place was absolutely disinterested and slow. The bouncy castle wasn't filled properly. It actually collapsed partly when some overweight little boys leaned against the front wall. I feared for the safety of my grandchild, and I will never go there again.
Gudrun C — Google review
I have been here a few times with my young kids and it is a nice place so long as it isn't too crowded. Lots to do, they sell food, snacks and water luckily since you can't bring any in. My kids like this place a lot and always have fun. Staff is nice and speak English. Place is clean and taken care of. I will come back.

We were charged full price for a 10 month infant, an 11 month old infant and two 18 month old infants. When asked if they could fix the charges to the correct amounts listed on their price sign the woman became aggressive demanding we provide her proof that they were in fact that age. The 10 and 11 month old couldnt even walk! Shameful behavior.
Christopher L — Google review
I really don't know what some of these people here are complaining about! The place was fantastic for having fun with the little ones. It was fairly big (not everything needs to be "airport terminal-sized"). The staff were friendly to us (I can imagine sometimes you end up with bad staff and it can be beyond one's control at times). People are literally complaining about having to wear socks (well, excuse them if they want to maintain a level of hygiene...especially given that some people may end up there with infectious feet diseases). Too expensive? I don't think so. If you want cheaper facilities, ask your government to make investments out of your tax money. It is their business and they have the discretion to charge what they want. I do not think it was too expensive. Not cheap either, but certainly not expensive! And from what I witnessed, the facilities were maintained quite well. Being a businessperson myself I am experienced with the "lot" who only like to complain...sometimes for unimaginable things to unimaginable extents. I had fun there with my little family. And I saw most other children and their guardians were having fun too. I am doing away with 1 star from the rating because of mainly one aspect of the complaints which I find was reasonable and it also resonates with my opinion. So this here is FEEDBACK for the management: 1. Restricting food is something I can understand because I know they have to make money. But going as far as restricting water is absurd. I, for instance, like to feed my family water out of glass bottles instead of plastic. Sometimes there may be other requirements. So this is the management going a bit too far. On the food front there are people who don't eat meat (like my family) and some may (like myself) not even fancy eating at a place that handles meat because of the possibility of contamination. So, ideally, food (at least snacks) should be allowed as well. However, I can be understanding of the discretion of a business policy and hence prepare my visits accordingly. Having said that, once again, there is a difference between food and water... 2. I can see how footwear isn't allowed in the play area. Nevertheless, perhaps, you could provide slippers for visiting the toilets! I don't want to walk into a toilet facility where I know people (at least in the men's toilets) drip urine all over the floor...
Ashish V — Google review
We went back on the day they reopened. They didn't have all the inflatables up until about 1.5 hours later. They did add a new structure and removed one of their large inflatables. My son still loves it there. We stayed for 3 hours sand he still didn't want to leave.

(Translated by Google) The tomb of the Roman legions for their deceased general Drusus is a historic watchtower at the southern end of Mainz city center in the immediate vicinity of the citadel. I found it very significant that a waiter at the local Café Zitadelle couldn't do anything with the name, even though the Drususstein is located directly behind the café. It can be reached via a side staircase next to the citadel. The cenotaph dates back to 9 BC. and is therefore one of the oldest buildings in the city. Unfortunately you cannot enter the tower. It is located on the edge of a park-like area that is ideal for picnics and stands alone. In and of itself there isn't that much to see here.... ;)

I love this place. It's perfect to meet you, go for a little walk and feed the deer. Perfect activity, even for a hungover Sunday. Best in combination with a walk through the beautiful forest and through the beautiful Suburb of Gonsenheim.

Good place to have sometime with my son and feed some animals
Mohamed R — Google review
We visited here after seeing buses going from Mainz to Gonselheim Wildpark so looked it up. This was a very different type of zoo. There is no entrance or charges. The animals and birds are in enclosures within a large square area of land. There is a footpath all around from where the animals can be viewed. Each enclosure has information board about the animals inside (in German). There are a lot of deer. There are a few vending machines selling food for the deer at €1 a box but there is a daily limit on how many can be sold so the animals don't get overfed. It certainly passed a pleasant hour and we then went into Gonselheim which is a very nice suburb of Mainz.
Jean D — Google review
Our daughter (3 years old) loves it since she was 1,5 years old. There are enclosures with different animals (sheep, deers, other kind of small deer? and goats) that can be feed, buying some special feedingstuff (1€/ package) in the automats. Sometimes the automats are empty, since there is a limited daily amount to avoid overfeeding the animals. There are as well other enclosures (wild boar, wild cat, chickens, geese, etc) just to observe the animals. A parking lot is near by and there are a couple of benches to sit down. The adjacent woods are very beautiful with walking trails. And there is a woods playground at the opposite side of the enclosures. All in all is worth a visit, especially during the week when isn't as crowded as at the weekend. There is a very small kiosk that sells sweet pretzels 🥨, salty pretzels and coffee during the weekend.

Outdoor swimming pool
Mainzer Taubertsbergbad is a vibrant swimming facility that offers a variety of features to keep young visitors entertained for hours. With its colorful atmosphere, it’s an inviting spot for families. The pool remains open until 11 PM, making it convenient for evening swims. Parking is easily accessible on level 4b, and you can pay at the reception for just 2 Euros instead of the usual higher rate at the entry system.
I have been swimming here for the past few months now. The staff is nice, and the facility is good. Today, I opted for a Technik Kurse with one of the trainers there and he was so nice! I think his name was Sven. He taught me various techniques and helped me identify my problems with breathing in freestyle swimming technique. I loved it! ❤️

Maryam A — Google review
I went to the new opening of the pool and was very disappointed that it is now sectioned to 25m for swimmers, two changing rooms only, no shower, and no 50m length pool. I see all the money spent on renovation, but did they ask what the swimmers prefer? Why did they waste all that money? Could have used it to clean the dirty old streets of downtown where there is pee, vomit, century old chewing gum all over...you get the idea. Update: thank you for your kind response and I understand you have made the renovation to fix the leaks. I am glad others find it welcoming. However, as I used to swim 50 meters with the rest of the swimmers that are even faster than me, I can assure you that 2 lanes of 50m is not enough for the 'real' swimmers. Still I will update and say it is a great place to hang out.

Great mixture of outdoor grass park with nice big pool for swimming and relaxing. Also an indoor pool with different entrance fees is available. Costs 3.50€ for the day for the outdoor pool. Highly recommended for a relaxing day. Also has a small outdoor kiosk.
Francois N — Google review
There's nothing wrong with the pool as such but during the good times after work pretty much all the lanes are reserved for clubs. Last time I went I knew that a lesson was going to start soon, so I asked about paying for a 60 minute ticket. The cashier told me these were only available during very early and very late hours. So I purchased the 90 Minutes ticket. Just after purchasing the ticket, the cashier told me, by the way, at 6pm all the lanes with the closed to the public but I could still use the non-swimmer pool if I'd like. That left me with 45 minutes of swimming - an appropriate amount of time for the 60 minute ticket I had just enquired about. I will not be frequenting this facility if I manage to find an alternative.
FTF1310 — Google review
Really nice swimming pool, one of not many, that are open till 11 pm. Parking: You park your car on level 4b and walk 1 minute which is quite convenient. Hint: you can pay your parking at the swimming pool reception (2 Euro). Usually you would spend 3.60 directly at the parking Entry system: funny token one. You pay for a visit (1 or 1.5 hours) and they give you a small plastic coin that you use to enter the place, unlock you locker, etc - careful, it is easy to lose it. Prices: quite cheap, especially if you go for 10-time card (costs 32 Euro) Occupancy: that's tricky, depending on the day of the week and time. I come at 21.30 and ut us easier with people there... Hope this helps

Host was very friendly. The place has a relaxed seating area upfront, separated from the track itself. Very nice for groups up to 10 people, which is the max number of drivers simultaneously allowed on the track.

We really enjoy going karting here. The folks are friendly. Compared to other places, the prices are on target. The only downside is that you really need to look at their calendar to see when there is open space and then show up early. It fills up quickly. And because they only have one track, a birthday party or other event shuts down the place for others.

Took a group of HS students her. Fantastic facilities! Phenomenal staff that also spoke English. Very spacious. There’s also a snack bar with reasonable prices and great quality. Thank you for the experience. I will definitely return in the future.
Daniel W — Google review
It's really difficult to rate Nordwand in a fair manner, here's the explanation why I rate 3 star: +1 star for fantastic route setting, it's challenging! Selina and Yoshi my favourites. +1 star for having lots of autobelayers, including lead climbing autobelayers. +1 star for a great bouldering area. -1 star due to rude staff. Don't forget you're providing a service. Some customer service skills are important to have. -1 star for terrible location if accessing via public transport All in all I like the gym a lot but I must admit the customer experience today was really poor. Treat your customers better. Rude manners are not welcome in general. The gym can't do much to improve the location but improving the customer facing attitude should be a basic.

The shoes I hired for her were good and we had a lot of fun in the special kid's area. We also climbed in the main area. I found the range of problems good both in terms of difficultly and variety - not just steeper = harder. Really big venue, lots of space, good quality walls. Will definitely come back. I would say the price is normal for the size and quality of the wall.

I’ve had some great times climbing here lately. When I came here 4 years or so ago I thought it was much less welcoming. I haven’t felt that vibe in the last 4 times I’ve gone. They have a good variety of routes and at least 1 tall route setter, which is good for me. 😉 Have fun and climb!
Mark F — Google review
Recently, I had a chance to climb in several bouldering gyms across Europe, and with that in mind, I am super happy to call Blockwerk my home gym. Route setting is excellent; there is a great variety of route styles so that everyone can find something for themselves. There is also a nice spread in difficulties - from the easiest ones, suitable for every beginner (been there, hehe), to really hard and technical. I am not familiar with the route-setting team, but they are doing a great job together with occasional guest setters! I also appreciate that the challenging routes are accessible for shorter people like me and are not just dyno-reachy-injury-prone mumbo jumbo, which is super common in gyms with more "modern" comp-style setting. The style of routes also translates well to outdoor bouldering - I just recently started touching the real rock and felt very well prepared by training in Blockwerk. Last but not least, the staff is simply fantastic! They are super friendly people, and I always feel welcome. And coffee is just wow! I only have two "administrative" suggestions for improvement: 1. Automated check-in process to speed it up during busy hours. 2. More of a social media presence - this place is lovely and deserves more people to know about it.
Oleksandra D — Google review
Great staff and great boulders! I do wish they implemented a more universal grading system like the Font grade or V grade; however, that is menial. They added other payments besides EC this gym is now perfect!
Electric A — Google review
Very nice place, kind and friendly people around. The routes are long and cool, for experienced and beginners too,a there is plenty of them. The only disadvantage is that on the routes are usually same types of handholds, thus not a big variety on the route. But i liked it there a lot!

(Translated by Google) An absolute recommendation! The advice in advance was great, as was the process on the day of the performance, from the arrival to sending the invoice, everything was very well structured. We chose the play Sleeping Beauty for three daycare centers, which was presented in three performances. In each round, the individual children were always taken into account and their own ideas were included. One time the queen bathed with a lava mud chili bath oil and another time the celebration of the birth of the royal child included a princess cake, balloons and party hats. Gladly every time. I'm already hoping that I'll be able to attend the performance again, which we'll definitely book again next year, it was so valuable! (Original) Eine absolute Empfehlung!

(Translated by Google) Seen in a book as a must-see place in Mainz. You definitely don't have to, unless you want to look into a sewage treatment plant from above and experience it with your nose. Plus, it's not so high that you really have a nice, wide view. Completely disappointing.

The Augustinerkirche, a Catholic church constructed between 1768 and 1771, is a stunning example of Baroque architecture that remained unscathed during World War II. Adorned with intricate Rococo decoration funded by affluent patrons, the interior boasts gilded stucco and captivating frescoes depicting the life of Augustine of Hippo.
Excellent church with beautiful roccoco styling inside Wonder at the expense and time taken to construct this edifice to God. Walk inside and be amazed at the gorgeously elaborate detail work in this church. Look up at the incredible ceiling. Look at the pulpit. Final take.. a must see in Mainz

⛪ St. Augustine’s Church in Mainz is a beautiful place with a lot of charm. The interior is elegant, with intricate details that make it stand out. 🌿 While it’s not as grand as some other churches in the city, it has a peaceful atmosphere that’s perfect for quiet reflection. Definitely worth a visit if you’re exploring Mainz. 🕊️

The interior of the church is breath-taking, with a calming atmosphere. It is absolutely worth a visit to see the painted ceiling.

I've only been in a few churches more beautiful than this one. The painted ceiling is stunningly beautiful!

An entirety gorgeous church, I was really taken back as I stepped in and took a first look. If you happen to pass by, pop in and you won't be disappointed

I could not go inside, it was closed unfortunately. Otherwise the pictures from few others say that it is a wonderful place. I took a look from outside only. Looks impressive.

My wife and I attended the Christmas organ concert. Fantastic experience as the acoustics were spot on. Lovely selection of music and unexpected additions at the end. This church is very decorative and well worth a visit any time of the year.

It is conveniently located within walking distance of the old city, where visitors can explore attractions such as the Mainz Romanesque Cathedral and the Citadel. During the summer months, tourists can hop on the Gutenberg tourist train, which includes a stop at the Citadel. The station boasts beautiful decorations during Christmas time and offers a variety of shops for travelers to browse.
Not very busy and crowded. Good connections to the city public transport.

Practical information: If you want to buy tickets from the ticket machine, remember to buy it from the entrance; I could not find any machine at the platform 5, atleast.
Shoaib N — Google review
It is a big station. If you don´t undesrtand german very well, you might get lost for a while, but usually you find someone that speaks english and can help. People were very nice to us. It is okay to buy the tickets at the machines. Look at the schedule and signs to know where you catch the train. The train is very confortable and fast.

(Translated by Google) Here in Bodenheim we had a great tasting of the two top wineries in Rheinhessen -Battenfeld-Spanier and Kühling Gullot. Top Rieslings - the magnificent range of complex wines extends from the red slope to the Zellertal, of which the Chardonnays are also a bank. Thanks to Anna for presenting an exceptional collection in a pleasant atmosphere. The owner and her team are real hosts, friendly and well-informed about all things wine. The selection of wines and the variety are great fun! What can I say, a tasting that couldn't have been better. Thank you keep it up! (Original) Erstmals heute bei der Jahrgangs Verkostung gewesen. Still, you're not out of touch here. You can always find personal advice and we put a lot of heart and soul into every single customer. (Original) Die komplexen Weine sprechen für sich. (Translated by Google) Wonderful location, friendly staff. Probably just temporary workers, because the service, which is tried hard, is often a bit spotty. The wine list is outstanding. I seriously wonder whether a 0.1l wine in my own winery actually has to cost around €7. The guest chefs' creations are usually noteworthy. What was currently on offer was the >fried carrot tartare & fermented beans, sheep's yoghurt, lettuce<. I had already mistakenly thanked the waitress for the amuse gueule. But it was pointed out that this was already the starter we ordered. We will continue to meet up with friends from time to time. However, the frequency will be reduced somewhat. (Original) Wunderbare Location, freundliches Personal.

Römersteine is a picturesque destination for the people of Mainz, featuring the remains of an ancient Roman aqueduct. Since 2000, the historic site has been home to a small herd of Allgäu mountain sheep, Rhoen sheep, and Merino sheep. Additionally, eight geese and several chickens complete the ensemble. The area offers a beautiful view of ancient Roman wall ruins and serves as a tranquil spot for visitors to explore.

We loved it! Had the stone queen room - and we able to escape with over 10 minutes to spare 🥳 I'm rather proud of us 🙂 they were super flexible opening up a room on short notice even though they were pretty booked (less than 24h in advance for a group of 4). We did one of the easiest rooms as we had a baby and first time escapers with us. Was a fun hour! We'll definitely be back again!

Puppet room -Super!!!! We were traveling with friends and decided to play an escape game. As we were a big group, we played both rooms. My team was in Puppen. I have to say WOW!!! It was so exciting!!! Cool atmosphere, interesting riddles and effects ! The fastest hour in my live! Thanks to our game master Kathi we escaped just in time!:)
