A great experience for young and old alike. My almost 12 year old loved it. Our plan was to spend an hour or two but we spent the full day there. The only downside was the extortionate prices in the restaurant. If I was visiting again I would bring food with me. The staff were very engaging especially during the different experiences. We were very impressed with the trilingual abilities. Not easy to explain everything in 3 different languages. We appreciated the effort. We were in the area on holidays from Ireland. I booked the tickets well in advance and made a mistake with my dates. The staff were helpful and fixed it so that we could gain entry, we just had to pay the difference. I would definitely recommend Technopolis for a fun day out during the summer holidays.

I took a girl here of a first date and it was definitely worth it we had a good time and it sparked a few good conversations and kept things interesting. LOTS of kids running around and playing which is something to consider but we didn't mind and its good to see them learning. It is also very easy to access the place by public transport from the train which is a huge thumbs up. Only negative thing really was the staff at the front desk could have been a little more and welcoming as its kind of the first impression.

Lovely science centre, including VR, simulators, science, illusions, fun game and much more. It's a little bit expensive and small for the public but the money is worth it. We had just two hours and couldn't see everything in detail but there were a lot of people as well. Be prepared to spend at least 4 hours. Enjoy it.

Highly recommended for families with children! Kids can learn a lot about technology while still having fun, and there’s plenty for adults to enjoy as well.👍

It's really great. My son has a great time. His brain is running at high speed. He doesn't want to leave when the museum closes. Free parking is also super convenient. I plan to take him back again next week.

Fantastic experience: we went there with my 2yo twins and they did not want to get out. The main expo is more targeted for bigger children (something like 8 to 14) but there is also a section for smaller explorers like mine. Shame the outside expositions are closed for good (so no dinosaurs or insects present in may old posts)

Took teenage kids for the afternoon at Technopolis while I had to carry on with my work. Was not allowed, unless entry ticket purchased, to sit down in the restaurant with my computer, work and wait for the kids. Not a single chair or table in the almighty reception area. Pretty appalling arrangements in place.

Visited the zoo on a Monday with my daughter. Well worth the trip. Although I was a bit shocked about the price of parking (you can park for free close by…) , the park itself felt reasonably priced and was well organized! Seems they are rebuilding and revamping in some places, but that wasn’t a problem as we got to see all the animals.

You can easily spend the whole day here. There is a lot to see, animals are separated by continents of origin, and most of them have decently sized living spaces. There are enough food and drink stops, toilets and playgrounds for children.

We visited Planckendael on Saturday with family and a small child. There is plenty of parking on site. It costs €11 for one day and €32 for a yearly pass, which is a good deal! The animals are organized by continent, and we managed to visit three continents in one day. There are many play areas for kids, which is really nice. On the downside, the washrooms were not clean at all. We checked four different ones, and it seemed like no one was in charge of maintaining them, which is disappointing. The bird enclosures were quite small, with not enough space for them to fly. Other animals seemed to have better conditions, although of course a real jungle would always be more suitable. There are also several restaurants and places to grab a drink or ice cream. We chose the warm food self-service restaurant, which wasn’t very crowded, but the prices were high for self-service. The tables were not clean, and the service was quite slow. Honestly, if they lowered their prices, I believe they would have more clients. On the positive side, there is also a flying show at certain hours, which could be very interesting for some visitors. I also noticed a baby cabin with a microwave for parents who want to rest or warm up their baby’s food, which is a very nice detail. All in all, considering everything, I give Planckendael 4 stars out of 5. Thank you to the team, and I really hope to see some progress on my next visits.

To maximize revenue and improve the visitor experience, it would be helpful to have more than one food court open in the park. The kids were quite hungry and only Asia’s food court was available. Otherwise, it’s a wonderful zoo. I’d happily visit every week if I lived nearby!

One of the best zoo's ive been to worldwide! A bit expensive but worths it. You need at least 4hours to finish it, so better come early

First off, we are zoo people (we have a membership at our home zoo and often go to zoos in places we visit), so do with that what you will. We have visited our fair share of zoos around the world and this particular zoo is without question the best one we have had the pleasure of visiting. It is also one of the more expensive ones, but the cost was well justified in my opinion. We spent over 5 hours in our first visit to this zoo and only made it through about 2/3 of the zoo itself. The layout of the zoo was simply incredible: the walks between exhibits were beautiful and each major exhibit had a variety of different vantage points (some being incredibly high and one being a tunnel you can crawl into for a from the ground view). Overall the animal exhibits were amazing and the activities and parks for kids were the best we have seen at a zoo. The one caveat was that the food was quite expensive so maybe pack some snacks or bring your own lunch. We will definitely be returning to Planckendael Zoo next time we are in the area - thanks for an amazing experience!

Very interesting tour, great to know the nick name of Mechelen people and the story. The AR equipment is temporary out of use in the ash room ,and one of the virtual telescope to south side is also down.

Tower itself is taller than Belfort in Brugge, and you shouln't waste time in queue to get inside, also it's very beautiful and has a carillon. The price is only 8€. But views from the observation deck are restricted and you can't take a look straight down

Climbing the 538 steps reveals original 15th-century construction marks on the interior bricks. The carillon mechanism plays every 15 minutes - the 49 bells were cast using a 1660s alloy formula. The panoramic view shows why this was Flanders' most important watchtower.

Take the time to go up the 500+ steps. It's a wonderful trip down history. There are details on every floor to read and take the booklet when you first arrive for more fun history details. And win-win: the way up is different than the way down, so you won't trip on people going in the other direction. The view on the top is superb!

You have to pay to go up the 97.5 meter high tower, but visiting the cathedral itself is free and there is much to see believe me.

This attraction is overrated. Tower is too high to see anything beautiful. Red roofs, forests. Completely flat and boring landscape. Floor at the top of the tower is made of glass. You need to be really attentive in the wet weather not to fall down on the slippery glass. Ah! That black drop far-far away is Atomium in Brussels! Wow, really? What a surprise. Belgians try to sell their "gems" to tourists and invent lots of surprising stories about their quite average monuments.

It is a beautiful monument with incredible stained glass and an impressive pulpit. Several steps lead up to the monument. However, it is worth seeing all the bells and enjoying the view from the top.

Vrijbroekpark is a beautiful and well-maintained provincial green domain in Mechelen. It’s perfect for a relaxing walk, not really for hiking – more of a leisurely stroll kind of place. The park is very dog-friendly, with plenty of open space and paths to enjoy with your four-legged friend. The gardens are absolutely stunning, especially in spring and summer when everything is in full bloom. A peaceful spot to unwind, enjoy nature, or have a quiet picnic. Not an adventure park, but definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area!

Was able to have a bachelorette picnic here because of the available picnic tables. One of the park's features was its pond, with lively croaking frogs. This added a nice touch to our celebration. I was impressed by the park's upkeep. Despite its popularity, the grounds were spotless. People came for a run, to cycle, relax or even practice yoga here. You can fully get in your element here. I like it here.

This park/green space has it all - enough lush green space, the coolest playgrounds for younger and older kids, wonderful place for a walk and a restaurant. Next to the restaurant you can find toilets and you can use them even though you don't need to order anything in the restaurant. It is yet another great park in Flanders, Belgium!

One of the best parks I’ve ever been to. It’s very big with a lot of different zones. Roses,mixed flower beds, trees, lawns, sport fields…all you could expect from a park, and more.

Place is too good with lot of greenery . Park have lot of space for jogging , walking area and chairs for sitting. It has lake where you can do fishing. It has restaurant and washroom in there. You can come here to play bakset ball , cricket , tennis , soccer etc games. They have decicated ground for the same. Love the beauty of this place. Park has area where you can find lot of variety of roses and other flowers and plants. Spent a day with your family and friends.

I highly recommend Speelgoedmuseum. Not only children can have fun here but also the adult. It’s just amazing to see what are grandparents use to play when they are young.

We (two adults) visited the Malines toy museum in March 2025. The museum is an absolute sham, a disgrace to the word "museum". To say we were disappointed is a serious understatement. This "museum" cannot even remotely stand in the shadow of the Prague Toy Museum or the Museum of Childhood in London. There were six, seven rooms with some sort of displays. In the first room there were audio comments with longwinded Flemish stories that made us loose our will to live. Moving on through the other rooms we did see some interesting artefacts. The whole museum revolves around children, which in itself is good, but very little is done to attract the children's attention to the historic value of playing and/or toys and only the sketchiest of attempts were made to educate them. Basically the whole affair is no more than just a very noisy concrete shelled playground. We were dumbfounded when after a visit of just shy of 30 minutes we found ourselves back at the entrance. We even walked the circuit again to check if we hadn't missed an important part. But no, thirty minutes was all it took at the most leisurely of paces. And that for a fee of €35 (for 2). In short: if you are a serious museum visitor this is a place to avoid. If you want your children to play, there are many cheaper and better playgrounds.

Wonderful museum detailing the history of toys and their cultural significance. The museum is a great place to introduce kids to the breadth of toys in existence, with many interactive exhibits. Older visitors will have a good time reminiscing about the toys of their youth.

They can be flexible with price if you get there like 2 hours before close otherwise it's over price. This is a good place to spend an hour but could be longer if you understand Flemish. The price however is quite expensive for one hour experience in a foreign language.

The kids loved it. Definitely worth the price. You can expect to spend 2-3 hrs there with kids ages 5-12.

It's ok. My kid (5) enjoyed it but I wish it was more interactive for the kids. (Many places were closed for corona soi will give them the benefit of the doubt) certainly a nice afternoon activity for the summer vacation

Mechelen is often considered as the capital for Carillon, and St Rumbold's cathedral has two of them. Very beautiful cathedral and the skywalk at the top gives great view. As resident of Mechelen, you can get discount.

A wonderful and inspiring cathedral in a lovely city, not far from Antwerp. There is parking underneath and tge train station is a walkable distance. The acoustic is great, try to visit for a service or concert. There is a tower to climb too with breathtaking views of the city.

An impressive cathedral with a bell tower you can go up -do get tickets in advance as it’s a time allocation only. Wonderful stained glass windows lining the cathedral walls. The bells in the tower are impressive and huge it’s good to go up on the hour to hear them chime.

What a beautiful cathedral! Loved the baroque arches (similar to many others in other parts of belgium) and the amazing architecture and artistry that is exhibited in the edifice. The grandness and luxury of these cathedrals are totally astonishing. It is free to enter, but 8€ if u wish to climb the tower itself to the lookout. The climb is only available in the afternoons i believe.

Great place. Laid back atmosphere, wide set of food choices from various kitchens around the world. We went lal out from appetizers with cocktails over dinner (Vietnamese/ avocado bar / bubba /...) finishing off with ice-cream. All tasting great and fresh. Ideal for groups or large families.

The worst food I had in my life is the bibimbap beef. It is not edible at all. You’re eating extremely salty soy sauce rice. Avoid at all costs.

Always a good choice if you are with a large group since you don't require reservations. You can always find place here. You can also be sure that everyone will find something to their liking. Wide choices of cuisine and some of them are quite decent. It can be a bit pricey especially if you are getting multiple drinks with your meal but it's a price you pay for convenience.

This beautifully restored Renaissance palace has really interesting exhibits about Burgundian court life and humanism. The mix of old artifacts and modern presentation works really well. A hidden gem in Mechelen — definitely worth a visit!

Beautiful modern museum. Perfect to understand the historical significance of Mechelen and of Margret of Austria. The courtyard with the garden is accessible for free, worth to see it alone.

The museum is currently (Easter 2023) under reconstruction and thus only a selection of its treasures can be visited in the undergrounds exposition hall (which is not reflected in the full income price). This selection seems deceptively smaller than it is (more than 100 items), most of which date from pre 1900s, including some paintings from Rubens, Jacob Jordaens and Pieter Coecke van Aelst. They offer a nice overview of the cultural history of Mechelen. There is an informative audio guide in English, Dutch and French, though some of it is rather anachronistic. They also have a special children's activity pack in Dutch. Upon completion children also can get a free post card which can be posted to any address in Belgium for free in the museum.

Tremendously good exhibition on 700 years art in Mechelen. Perfect free audio guide, and just the good timing (1h30) . Was 5 stars. The new exhibition on the Golden Fleece is nice but very very small. The permanent collections, open again, have beautiful master pieces, but also here only a few.

The enormous photo walls of the faces of the 28800+ deportees from Kazerne Dossin of the "Give them a Face" initiative pay tribute to the persecuted and put faces to the numbers. Personalising what the criminal oppressors did everything in their power to de-personalise . In these days of populist, nationalist, xenophobic, repressive , prejudice, and anti immigrant sentiment a visit to museums and sites such as this should be required for all children and adults . It bears witness to the effect of creeping and unopposed discrimination , repression , and racism . Humans are all equal . The events that this shrine was built to immortalise should not fall from our memory now or from the memory of any future generation . We must never forget . #peace (Footnote: Maybe a missed opportunity to give a name and a face and honour to those who saved so many children from being transported - the nuns next door in the convent and Bruno Ceupens for example - who are righteous amongst nations )

I went to this place thinking that I would see the rooms of the camp however it is just a museum that shows you the timeline of the war. How Hitler and his party came to power, you literally witness the war, how Jewish people and Gypsies were targeted and slowly excluded from society. Moreover, museum exhibits artwork and belongings of some Jewish people (camp uniforms, silverware and armband etc.). The museum has 4 floors and if you read everything and watch every video it will take you more than 2 hours to finish.

In the bartacks is a small exhibition, the real one is at the other side of the road. This is an intresting and very nice exhibition With videos from people who lived during the war. You should take a few hours to do the tour. It has 4floors, the upper is a fantastic vieuw over Mechelen.

We came 40 minutes before closing time for a quick bite, but they did not want to make anything anymore unfortunately. We just took a coffee instead and I have to say, it was a good coffee! Inside looks cosy and nice, and they have a quite big offer of cakes as well.

Cozy space to have an intimate chat or do some work. Tried the chai latte. Love it. They have basic brunch/lunch/soup buffet at reasonable price. Will try that next time.

This is a nice restaurant, with an esplanade that you might enjoy and a good cuisine. There are no English menu. The personal are kind and professional. Of course, you can enjoy several different beers (be aware that some have big alcohol content) I tasted the clamps and they are quite good. The portion is more than enough. :-) Prices are OK, according to the place.

I went for a lunch on last Sunday. Nice food , cozy place and relaxing atmosphere. The people who run the place are really nice and friendly. The buffet offers a large selection of different food, and it is refilled several times, so worry not you'll surely have enough for your money!! 5 out of 5, I 'll definitely go back soon!!

Located on the outskirts of Antwerp city, this beautiful old town centre is worth a visit. Full of century old buildings, churches, shops and lots of eateries around.

The grote markt is a beautiful square in the centre of the city, distinguishable by the tall town hall tower. A very lively place to enjoy a walk and admire the architecture. There are plenty of restaurants, cafés and bars nearby.

On the border of mechelen city and next to the river dijle, there is a small nature reserve mechelsebroek. Its nice for a stroll and the nature is lovely. There are no official hiking routes. but lots of locals walk there or bike as well.

Beautiful place to walk, and definitely check out the birdwatching tower when you are there. Beware though, when it rains the trails are very muddy and you will regret not wearing boots. Other than that i highly recommended this if you live close. About 1,5h walk.

Wonderful awe-inspiring raw nature as far as you can see! Not crowded. Clean of trash. Small paths (not very convenient for school expeditions). And tthey have to do something about the smoking visitors, this really crashed my experience last time.

Ordered via online takeaway. Had to wait around 10 mins when I arrived+ which I didn't mind because it means my food would still be warm when I get home. Staying 5mins away, I was disappointed to find my fries, onion rings cold. Garden salad was mistakenly given in place of coleslaw that I've ordered. And the sticky cauliflower was cold and it was burnt and soggy (photo attached). It didn't taste good. The burger was average.

Staff was very nice. I had the Meat Lover and it was very good and filling. I do feel the staff numbers are low as there was only 3 people on the floor. One bartendar and 2 taking orders, serving and cleaning out tables. They did a very good job with 25+ tables. Taking that in consideration, I did notice myself and other customers standing up to ask for drinks etc....

We had lunch there on a weekday and it was quite empty. The service was fast and attentive. The food was okay, nothing special, but the combo option gives you quite a good deal for the price paid.

The burgers were delicious and very well cooked. The whole atmosphere is nice.

I highly recommend Ellis anytime, but I especially want someone to go on a first date. The meat lovers burger is really juicy and each of the delicious toppings adds more juicy perfection. The yums and sounds of a perfect meal with the juices dripping from your hands and chin leave little to the imagination. But the food is so good you'll want to finish it all, leaving no room for "desert". And if you don't get a call back for a second, you won't be disappointed because he wouldn't have been nearly as good as that burger, so it's a no loose situation.

We ordered a juice that was labeled as “kokos and mango sinnas” — expecting a refreshing tropical mix. Unfortunately, it was a huge letdown. The “kokos” wasn’t even coconut juice or milk; it was pieces of shredded coconut, like the kind you buy for baking cakes. It didn’t mix well at all, especially with the tonic, which was bitter and completely clashed with the rest of the drink. We politely asked if we could switch the drink for something else, like a coffee, just to make up for the disappointing experience but they refused. Not even a small gesture to make things right. Really expected better both in terms of the drink quality and customer service.

I had a wonderful experience at this venue, and I’m so glad I finally decided to visit after living in Mechelen for over six years. The atmosphere is delightful, and the entertainment options are fantastic. However, there were a few issues during my visit. We encountered some technical difficulties with the bowling lane(16)which set us back about 10 minutes. Unfortunately, the staff didn’t seem to acknowledge our discomfort during this time. Additionally, we ordered a food combo, and the wait for our meal was longer than expected. While the experience was enjoyable overall, I felt that the pricing could be more competitive. Despite these hiccups, I would still recommend the place for its vibrant atmosphere and entertainment options.

I have the pleasure to share a review for a company event. The communication with Leena was seamless, everything was clear and agreed upon in advance. We had a great cozy space dedicated to us and the staff was always keeping me informed on the next steps through the evening. My colleagues and I really enjoyed the evening, the open bar was definitely a good call and when it comes to price it is fair and reasonable. Food and snacks were nice as well. We tried several different activities (karting, bowling, karaoke, pool, darts, table football) and I dare to say everyone found their activity to enjoy. We had one moment with the karting where the schedule was a bit delayed due to another group but there is not much the staff could do about that. Overall a really fun time and reliable venue! Also we appreciate the Welcome sign, what a nice finishing touch!

Karting track is nice, karts were okay, but a bit tight for a normal person (But they should get new Karts anyway in Q4/2025). Also you don't need to brake at all, which takes one dimension from driving and ends more in drifting than karting. But as those are e-Karts, it is this way most of the time. The problem is the pricing. Paying 20€ for 8 minutes is very, very much. We also had to buy a balaclava for 3€, handgloves (really cheap rubber ones!) for 3€ and extra 3€ for a racing licence (once a year). The balaclava + handgloves would have been okay for 3€, but 6€ felt like a ripoff. Same the racing licence. We drove a second round, which costs us 17€ for 8 minutes. 20€ + 17€ + 9€ = 46€ for 16 minutes of e-Karting?!

We had a great experience with our team to blow of some steam. Some preferred bowling others karting but every one had a lot of fun. To end the evening we enjoyed the mini games and I was pretty surprised that we had some really good karaoke singers. Great setting, friendly people ideal for your next team or business event!

First time with my family here , and I can recommend this place to anyone . Is just amazing and you have so many activities to do . And of course a restaurant afterwards to enjoy . Highly recommend the Double burger!!

I booked a go-kart birthday for my son and his friends. Excellent experience from the very beginning. On-line booking was easy and rates explained. It is well worth the drive from Brussels. Ample, clean parking in front. Spacious, well-decorated and clean venue (there are other activities such as bowling, karaoke...) with polite and helpful staff (who speak Flemish, French and English). The karting experience was great for the kids - there were karts of different sizes for those who were shorter than 150cm (min is 130cm), all equipment was provided and the kids had the track to themselves. We also had beverages, nachos, waffles, kiddybull and a cake as part of our package. Well worth it - the nachos were not the cheap discount version and the cake was a Sacher (and a really good one!) with birthday decorations and all the glitz! The kids were really treated well (and the parents too). Excellent level of service! We will be back!

The ice was OK'ish, but the hall was too warm, so basically after 30/45mns there was already more snow than ice. As it's presumably the only rink in the city, it was very crowded on a Saturday. We stayed for the full two hours, so all in all not too bad. There is a cafeteria upstairs with view on the rink, a foosball table etc., plus spectator seats without catering. Prices are good. Music was a bit too soft for my liking, but then we were there on a family afternoon, so it was OK. Nice place, just nothing special either.

My recent visit to Nekkerspool was unfortunately overshadowed by the unprofessional and rude behavior of the staff.
