We went for my daughters 27th birthday breakfast and the service was impeccable. Nothing was too much trouble and the food was gorgeous. Georgia, Harry and Alice were the team that looked after us and they couldn't do enough! They even got my daughter a birthday card and chocolate for when she arrived. Lovely atmosphere, great choice of food and drinks and great staff. We would definitely recommend it. Thank you so much!

Mixed review Friday 7oz gammon and the cheese burger meals lovely. Monday mixed grill not much flavour on the steak rest was fine. Wife opted for big yum burger . Not good burger small hard and looked burnt. Staff both days really friendly and helpful will give it another go best out of three?

Nice food and beverage. Toilets were clean. Spacious converloted layout overall happy would frequent this establishment again 👍
Matt7541 — Google review
The food itself was really nice but they always say enjoying food should be a visual satisfaction as well as taste and it's the presentation that let's it down. I had a Burger which was presented with chips and a dollop of coleslaw. I know that GPs are important in Catering but how much would a bit of salad on the side cost, virtually nothing compared to the £16 plus cost price. It's a shame though as tge burger was really nice.
David — Google review
Went for the unlimited breakfast - was lovely but being a vegetarian I was not asked in regards to this or the manner to order vegetarian alternatives to the meat options. They did have scrambled eggs, hash browns and mushrooms available and this was sufficient enough for me. I know in other brewers fayre they do have vegetarian alternatives and I’m sure if I’d have asked they’d have wiped them up for me. My other half thoroughly enjoyed the meat options and filled us both up for the day.

We visit regularly the service we receive of both Rory and sam is absolutely amazing and go beyond and above for you. They really are a credit to your team. We really do appreciate it your kindness does not go unnoticed.

This is a busy Brewers Fayre place visited by locals and the guests at the next door Premier Inn. The staff work hard and are always polite and go the extra mile. The food is good and my only gripe is i didnt get Onion Rings with my Mixed Grill tonight (27/9/25) - it was busy and so im happy to overlook this as the meal was excellent. We've stayed at the Premier Inn many times over the last 5yrs so have a broad experience of this place. Everything in this Brewers Fayre has been perfect during our stays at the Premier Inn and we thoroughly recommend this place.
Jo S — Google review
Absolutely fantastic! The staff went above and beyond. Put in our notes when we booked the table that it was a birthday breakfast. We turned up and there were banners by our table, the team even gave the birthday boy a card and some chocolates. It’s great to see how much they care about their guests. Thank you team Crossways for such wonderful service. Food was fantastic, good range of selection for breakfast and great value

Update: Another visit was a lot better. New staff in the café were outstanding. Congratulated my Mother in her 91st birthday, made her feel special. Great produce, clean and tidy store. Not the best pricing structure, with far too many multi-buy items; this is not ideal to increase spending. The car park usually has plenty of spaces, but there's always cars (without disabled badges) parked directly outside the entrance on yellow lines. This is an ongoing issue that isn't addressed by management, it makes navigation of trolleys, wheelchairs and pushchairs difficult due to driver laziness and inconsideration. Another visit, equally as good. The lady serving went above and beyond to help.
Mark S — Google review
Had breakfast in the cafe here on the weekend. I honestly think it was a poor breakfast. When it turned up didn't look too bad but when I tucked into it I have to say it was not the best. The bacon was barely cooked. One runny egg one hard egg. Overcooked sausages and the beans were lacking sauce. Wouldn't usually complain but but it's not like it was cheap. Almost £9 . I'm most cafes you can get a banging breaky for that. Here they're using budget ingredients but still charging premium prices. Sorry but an honest review. Sort it out Morrisson

Just visited first time. What a fabulous store and cafe. The staff in the cafe were excellent, friendly abd welcoming and kept the tables etc clean. The breakfast was good value and the free top up of tea and coffee was very welcome. The whole store was clean and friendly. Definitely one of the best.

Been doing online orders with this morrisons branch and they are awful most of the time some items were removed but the big issue is that they often substitute items without asking you i use uber eats and when i want to change the substitute sometimes i can but most of the time they choose for me and they pick bad items we should be given a choice when we are paying they can do it they choose not to ignorent wont be useing them any more morrisons are dissrespectful to customers
Louise B — Google review
Shop was clean tidy and full. Lots of choice on the fresh counters and areas which was a nice surprise. Ended up spending far more than I expected because how well it was displayed and how good it looked
Mike H — Google review
I got nothing good to say about this place or any Morrisons for that matter. If they can't do it right shut it down. They have taken away the butchery, the fishmonger, what else there is no market st it's gone. They don't even want to put staff on tills anymore. It has gone from probably the best to the worst. They have table and chairs to sit and speak to the manager but you never see them, probably to embarrassed because it's such a mess.

Usually has everything I want or need & plenty of parking. There's a fuel station there too 😏

Park
Morgan Jones Park in Caerphilly is a delightful destination for families, especially during the summer months when the Wetter is Better aqua splash pad comes alive with laughter and splashes. This Green Flag award-winning park has transformed from its origins as a 1930s recreation ground into a vibrant space featuring wildflower meadows, outdoor gym equipment, and even a skate park.
Extremely pretty, has everything you need from a park. Excellent selecting of kids playground equipment, splash zone for the kids to cool down, exercise area and a huge field for activities.
Dewi G — Google review
Nice park, but quite small if you like long walks you need to do laps! Good amount of activities for kids though
Mikey W — Google review
Fab place and free ❤️❤️ little ones really enjoyed the splash park
Zoe W — Google review
Popped here with my son and family with the Golden Retriever Uther. He managed a good run round off the lead and enjoyed meeting other friendly dogs. Loads of puddles with it been non stop raining for 5 days but it never stopped the fun. Loads of play areas for younger kids, skateboard area and play areas for older kids. Closed for the winter is an area that can house water play fun . Toilets where open so no getting cut short. Quiet a bit of parking . There's a few different entrances and plenty of ways to walk round. Nice bedding plants in raised areas and nice to see a few bins and benches around for a change. X
Teddy T — Google review
Plenty of space in the large field to play any games. With exercise machines and 3 children's play parks plus the splash park. With theclean modern toilet facilities itlends itself to an excellent day out.

Limited parking but great place yo go with small kids. Splash off doesn't open until 10 am and was really slippy. Nevertheless kids loved!

Park
Van Road Trails is a dirt jump park located near Caerphilly town, offering jumps suitable for all ages and skill levels, as well as a dual slalom track. Visitors can freely enjoy the park and even contribute to its maintenance. The area also features scenic walks through the nearby woods and fields, making it an ideal spot for dog walking. Additionally, the park boasts well-constructed jumps, including a new pump track, with ongoing developments such as a 4x track.
As well as being a dirt jump park, this area also has some great walks in the surrounding woods and fields, perfect for dog walks while visiting.
Sam W — Google review
It's ok, maybe 4/5 trails/ small closed tracks plus a down hill slalom track for side by side racing. The tracks are smaller than small but serve a purpose for those who can't travel to a big trail park, there's little whoops n birms for beginner kid level riders and massive jumps at the top for the more experienced rider. Not all the trails are rollable, so if you're going to attempt them, you'll have to fully commit or you'll be eating dirt, redbull cans, and broken glass, yup, it's not the cleanest location but it ain't a complete dive. EMTBs are well suited here as on a manual you sometimes struggle to gain momentum in such short distances. There's a pump track too
Kunta K — Google review
Great area for a short walk
D — Google review
Very well built jumps with a new pump track. Progression further up the hill. 4x track work in progress
Luke — Google review
If you go clockwise, it's steeper. You have to cross the stream a fair few times. Apart from the end there isn't much flat footing. You will need a map as there are lots of trails and it is not obvious to complete the circular walk. Muddy for almost 60%

7Parc Penallta

Park
Nature & Parks
Parc Penallta offers a spacious carpark with picnic tables and benches for enjoying the views. Dog bins are available, and it appears that visitors make use of them as the area is relatively clean. The park seems ideal for biking, although navigating may be challenging due to its size. There is a lake or pond within the park, but its location was not discovered during this visit.
A lovely walking trail with plenty of points of interest along the way. You can follow different paths and walk it whichever way you want, but if you want to see all the points of interest then just make sure you keep an eye on which direction you pick at junctions. Various ponds, the pit pony and observatory are worth seeing and for me the highlight is Penallta rocks, the craggy cliff face that you can walk onto and around. Plenty of photogenic spots and a varied and gentle walk, definitely a place to visit in any weather.
Kevin K — Google review
This is a place I’ve come to, many times to walk my dogs. I’ve seen the park mature over the years until present day. The park is maintained by a great team who have done a lot of work over the years to address drainage. As you walk around, you’ll see culverts which have been added. If you check out Penallta Parc on Google Earth, you’ll be able to see “Sultan” the horse from satellite. An aerial view shows a horse sculpted during the creation of Penallta. It’s a lovely place to walk and there are lots of different paths to explore. It’s a peaceful place and great to escape the hustle and bustle of life. In summer, people bring a picnic and sit on the grass relaxing. Well worth a visit.
Caro L — Google review
Dog walking heaven! A nice selection of well maintained all weather trails interspersed with sculptures referencing nature and the areas mining past - perfect for dog walking, running or just going for a leisurely stroll. There are a number of wildlife ponds with decking and viewing platforms so care should be taken to keep dogs under control in these areas. The lower sections of the parc also form part of the national cycle network route 47 - so once again care should be taken to keep dogs under control due to passing cyclist. A walk up to the highest point in the parc is rewarded with some pleasant views and is a great spot to stop and take it all in. There isn't an on site cafe but the Colliers Rest adventure farm & cafe is adjacent to the bottom car park and does nice coffee and cakes along with a decent looking breakfast.
Andrew W — Google review
Lovely place, always loads of space to park. Great walking trails and loads of space if you have a dog. Bouldering on site too. Huge field so games/picnics or playing.
Meg B — Google review
Such a beautiful and breathtaking place to be the views are something to behold, penallta Parc is an amazing memorial to the miners and pit ponies that dedicated their lives to families and people in their community's
Nev P — Google review
We go for a walk here most weekends, it's a gorgeous park. We particularly appreciate that it has a proper tarmac path which makes it pram & wheelchair accessible. There are a lot of options to go on dirt/ gravel paths too if you want a bit more of an explore, so there's something for everyone. Such a great place to have on your doorstep, recommend if you want some fresh air.
Melissa S — Google review
Beautiful place to walk the dog, so many different trails to walk. Unfortunately the only downside is there are so many inconsiderate dog owners out there who do not pick up after their dogs, or who do pick up in dog bags and then throw them in the bushes, really shame as it can spoil it. More bins are needed around the site
Anthony L — Google review
Only ventured to the main flat area to try the drone. Nice location for a walk, and a few walking trails off the main flat grassy section. Good car park spacing, but I didn't see any toilets. I think this links to the Taff Trail north/south so a good route to explore if you are passing on a bicycle. There was a few points of interests we will look at next time, but not much to say based off our first visit. There were many dog walkers so I did mention I would be using a drone and are they OK with that. I wanted pictures of above the old Penallta Colliery, but so many restrictions regarding drone flying it's hardly worth holding my licence. These are the points of interests people want to see, especially as I run a local community page also. After looking all over this location next time, it may reflect a higher rating than three stars given this time.

Wildlife park
Children's farm
The Meadows Farm Village in Wales offers a picturesque setting with its castle and lake, making it a great spot for a leisurely walk. While the entry fee is on the higher side, there are plenty of attractions to enjoy, including various animals that can be petted at specific times. Families with young children will appreciate the opportunity to interact with rabbits and guinea pigs, as well as the small park for kids to play in.
We had a fabulous time at the wildlife park last week. Very clean with hand washing stations about. Picnic tables to eat a packed lunch. My nephew really enjoyed seeing all of the animals especially the Armadillo and Tega. Very affordable and well kept up place. I highly recommend! Get the bag of feed, it's so fun feeding the alpaca, goats, and sheep!
Sarah — Google review
Such a lovely place, I had no idea it was there. 90% of the enclosures are to a good standard and the animals seem very healthy. Lovely volunteers feeding the pigs and goats (Monday). Unfortunately it is not great for prams and it was very bumpy which kept my little one awake the whole time. They have tried to make it better but it needs a lot more done. Ramps need to be improved. Cafe is very cute. Bird Avery's were lovely.
Rebecca C — Google review
Good day out, nice place, decent variety of animals and that's about it. Things to make place better - need much better toilet facility, very poor! Most of the wash stations didn't work properly, need better play areas for kids and it's expensive for what it is. Extra charges for animal encounters, animal feed should be £1. Foam party was cool, kids enjoyed that, but as it was at 4pm, we had to wait along time as you will go around the park in 2hrs max, should bring it forward a bit. If you haven't been then it's a decent day out with kids, but doesn't have repeat visit appeal.
Kabir A — Google review
Fabulous park. My 10 year old granddaughter loved seeing the different animals - and particularly enjoyed feeding the goats and llamas and being able pet them. Nicely laid out with picnic areas and lovely play areas too..will definitely visit again
Melanie G — Google review
Absolutely fantastic day out with the kids. Plenty of things to see and do. Lovely areas for the children to play, eat and run around. You need to pay extra for interactive sessions, but for 2 adults and 2 children was an extra £12 for 3 sessions. Def worth a visit and we will be back.
Jo T — Google review
Went on a family outing to the Park (2 adults, 1 child) and everyone had a fantastic time. Even as you walk in towards reception you already get to see some gorgeous peacocks and ducks. Friendly greeting at reception and easy sign in. We were handed our animal feed (purchased in advance with our tickets) and explained the rules very clearly. We stopped for a snack first at one of their picnic tables and then proceeded through the park. Amazing animals right as you start with information about them on a poster by the enclosure. We were extremely lucky to have been there at feeding time and we got to see one of the volunteers feed the meerkats and he even took the time to tell us about their personalities and behaviour. It was amazing to see the animals up close and being cared for so nicely. As we carried on, we got to see some animals we don’t usually see in these farms, like a Kookaburra and a skunk. Continued on towards the goats who were hungry fellas and very gentle, my child had a great time feeding them. We then headed towards the llamas and alpacas who were also very gentle and easy to feed, it was a fantastic experience. Throughout our visit we got to see swans, ducks, horses, lemurs, capybaras and even wallabies! One of the wallabies had a baby in their pouch! So cute!! Foam party at 4pm by the reception which all the kids seemed to be having a blast with! I’ll also mention that there’s a lovely play area for smaller children with a sand pit and some little houses. There were hand washing stations all throughout so you could consistently wash your hands after interacting with the animals. If I have one small note, it would be that a few of them had run out of soap but that wasn’t that big of an issue as there was always another one nearby. We’ll just bring some hand sanitiser next time, no biggie. We didn’t sign up for the animal interaction this time - they have goats, bunnies, Guinea pigs and tortoises - but we will for sure go for it next time. All in all, it was a brilliant time, there is something for everybody there. You can see the animals are well taken care of and they all looked very relaxed. The staff/volunteers are incredibly nice and more than one took the time to have a chat with us about the animals. Will definitely be visiting again.
Iovane M — Google review
Such a lovely spacious farm. With s lovely petting area where you can sit with rabbits and guinea pigs. There is the option of paying extra to go into some of the pens with certain animals. The farm was clean and tidy. The volunteers were friendly and were able to answer questions. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is we had to wait 30 mins in a queue to enter, even though we booked online for quick entry and a certain time slot. It was a very hot day with no shade. My child got bored and wanted to go home even before we go in.
Sheree O — Google review
Absolutely beautiful place. Very reasonable entry price. Enclosures and whole park very well maintained. Clean and very easy to navigate. All animals were kept in immaculate condition. Really enjoyed the Lemur walk through especially!! Friendly staff. Will definitely return!
