Forio is a charming town located on the island of Ischia in southern Italy. With a population of around 17,000 people, it offers a tranquil escape in the Metropolitan City of Naples. The town is known for its picturesque surroundings and serene atmosphere. While larger towns like Ischia Porto and Lacco Ameno have become more upscale, Forio has retained its authentic charm, reminiscent of the leisurely days depicted in Ferrante's novels.

Ischia, a 17-square-mile island located just an hour away from the city by ferry, offers a picturesque blend of parched tufa and vibrant bougainvillea. This destination has retained its timeless charm, making it easy to see why it served as the backdrop for Ferrante's teenage protagonists' self-discovery during languid summers. The majority of visitors are Italians, particularly Neapolitans who return annually to reconnect with old friends at familiar guesthouses and rental apartments.

Gardens
Giardini la Mortella is a stunning hillside garden in Forio, featuring a diverse collection of tropical and Mediterranean flora, enchanting water features, and breathtaking bay views. Originally purchased by the renowned English composer Sir William Walton in 1949, with the help of landscape architect Russel Page, it was transformed into a paradise. The gardens boast an array of rare plants including the celebrated Gingko Biloba and the mesmerizing Victoria Amazonica.
I'm a gardener so I'm always keen to visit a botanical garden wherever I go, but this one is truly spectacular. A mystical panoply of all types of plants from different regions. Some really special orchids and water plants. Nooks, ponds and rockeries galore. Highly recommend. You could easily spend all day there so be careful. Really good price for the wonders on offer. Enjoy!
Callum M — Google review
While the beauty and care with which the gardens have been cultivated are truly admirable, my visit was unfortunately overshadowed by the fact that smoking is permitted within the grounds. Allowing visitors to smoke in such a serene, carefully preserved natural environment is not only detrimental to the air quality and atmosphere but also deeply detracts from the experience for those who come seeking peace, beauty, and inspiration. The gardens, created over many years with such dedication and vision, deserve to be enjoyed in a setting that respects their tranquility and ecological integrity. Sadly, the presence of cigarette smoke made it difficult to fully appreciate the space and ambiance that Sir William Walton and Lady Susana Walton so lovingly brought to life. I strongly urge the Foundation to reconsider its policy on smoking within the gardens. Implementing a non-smoking rule would preserve the healthful environment, enhance the experience for all visitors, and align more closely with the spirit of harmony and reflection that La Mortella was clearly intended to embody.

Gorgeous gardens (ticket 12 €), quite large, so you will spend some time here. There is even a small cafe bar with some food right under the Greek theater (you can also find toilets here, next to the theater). We also caught the concert in the evening from 9:00 PM to 11:00 PM and the ticket cost only 8 €. Fallowing the song for parking and ticket office if you are by car (around 1 km from down, another entrance by foot).

This is a must-visit-place if you visit Ischia! The place is incredible, and there's so many wonderful, beautiful and unique places. Make sure to have plenty of time, and it is a big garden and theres quite a lot of walking, paths up and down, elevations and stairs. At the very top and bottom, trees offer you a bit of shade and fresh air. The the levels in between, the sun and stairs can make it an incredibly warm experience. Make sure to bring water and something for your blood sugar if it is a very warm day. The place is relatively easy to reach by public transportation. Parking is a bit more tricky, however if you enjoy a slightly challenging drive on small roads there's a small parking lot at the very top of the garden.

If you’ve visited botanical gardens in other major cities (500,000+ population), this one won’t surprise you — it’s pleasant, but quite standard. Plan for about an hour to see everything. One important tip: there are a lot of tiger mosquitoes here. If you’re not familiar with them, look them up and make sure to bring repellent — it will make your visit much more enjoyable.
Mark F — Google review
A stunning set of gardens. Tranquil and inspiring. We also enjoyed an outdoor concert one evening whichbwas also a joy with all the scent from the garden mixing in with the frogs chorus from the ponds. Cant recommend more highly. Wegot there for when it opened at 9 as it was cooler and less busy.
P2 M — Google review
Definitely worth the price and super nice to get some shade in there when it's super hot outside. Make sure to keep in mind the guided tour groups that might arrive on the daily around 10:30-11-30am
Nadine S — Google review
We visited the garden with friends and were not disappointed. There was so much to see and didn't manage to see the whole garden. What we did see was beautiful and very colourful. The frogs even treated us to a different type of concert as they stayed hidden amongst the lillies. If you have mobility issues then you may not get to see the whole garden as there are lots of steps. Each plant or tree was labelled to show where in the world they originate from. There is a lovely cafe and shop. At the time of visiting, there was a concert going on, which was an additional cost. We were pleasantly surprised how beautiful the gardens are and thoroughly recommend visiting them.

Negombo is a stunning thermal park located in Lacco Ameno, Italy. The annual event held at the park brings together nurserymen, artisans, and collectors from all over Italy. Visitors can explore rare plants and indulge in gastronomic delights. Other popular thermal parks in the area include Poseidon Gardens in Forio and Castiglione Vanitello in Casamicciola.
There is only 1 hot spring coming from the ground through a pipe. The sea was cold crisp in April. I visited on Easter. The view is amazing! It was worth the long trip down, through the vegetation. This is for the public beach near Negombo (free). Mind the pictures to make your way down shorter!
Ileana V — Google review
Beautiful gardens with private space, very peaceful. Better suited to guests with younger members as the pools are slightly cooler. Nice places to eat and shopping opportunities. The pools are naturalistic and might be tricky for people with mobility or sight issues,(lots of unlevel steps in and out of the water) But I really wouldn't let that put you off. This place is stunning and I'd definitely recommend spending a day there.
Brian P — Google review
We've been in Naples for six days. On the seventh day we rested here. Fabulous retreat. The thermal baths were divine.
Clay L — Google review
Came here on a super rainy day and it was beautiful! It is EMPTY at the beginning of October. The pools up on the cliffside were magical. Would return again! Only small downside is that if you rent a towel (8euros), to get a dry one (and it was pouring the whole time) you have to pay again. I understand but it seemed like a little bit of a cash grab since the park is already 90+ euros for two people.
Elizabeth M — Google review
Beautiful place but some disappointments. - The setting is extraordinary and without equal. The beach is perfect. It is a 20 minute And 30 Euro taxi ride from the main port. - All over Italy, water fountains are running and plentiful. Not at Negombo. Despite paying the equivalent of over $100 for 2 people, the only drinking water available is for sale. Stating hydrated after thermal baths is important, and Negombo makes you pay. - You pay the equivalent of $10 more to rent a single towel. Plus a $15 deposit on the towel that is returned to you as you give the wet towel back. But their refusal to exchange a soaking wet cold towel for a fresh dry one after you have used it all day is a surprisingly stingy element if the operation. - The squatting toilets are unpleasant and challenging for many. If management could simply address the 3 issues above (water, towels and toilets), this would be a 5 star experience.
Mark K — Google review
A brilliant thermal spa and beach place. It costs €100 for 2 adults for a full day but there’s lot a to see with many thermal pools a great beach and normal pool’s. Lots of facilities on site including toilets and changing rooms. Lockers are free but cost you a returnable €20 deposit. Your entry price includes 2 subbed 2 deck chairs and an umbrella. Towels cost to hire so bring your own. Several restaurants on site nothing too pricey. Lots of locals do it must be good. Plenty of undercover parking and in the Italian summer that’s worth it. Easy to get from Ischia Porto on a regular bus service €5 for a full day bus pass!
Mike T — Google review
This park is supposedly “kid friendly.” First there are no pools where young kids can walk around. One kid pool is 5 feet deep and other one is approx 4. I guess if your kids are 10+ then yes, but otherwise for younger kids, no. Poseidon is much better with pools for younger kids. There are good staff and very rude staff. My young son needed a toilet with a seat and there was one which the employee refused to open. Tl:dr: go to Poseidon if you have young kids. This park is not kid friendly and some staff are quite rude. If you want to go to the beach, just walk further to free beach and if you want t shade, there is free shade along the cliffs.
Tuan P — Google review
This is a beautiful resort. The spectacular beauty of the setting, the way all of the processes and the recreation areas are set up, the quality of the food & drinks, and the very nature of the wonderful thermal salt water pools are all terrific and enjoyable. It is a calm and enjoyable place, as it is spread out across many separate areas, yet easy to get around and enjoy the variety of settings and pools. There was nothing that I did not like about our visit. A total relaxing and amazing experience!

Mount Epomeo, a 2,589-foot volcanic mountain located on the island of Ischia, offers a diverse range of landscapes and attractions. From sunny beaches to pine forests and green hills, the area provides ample opportunities for invigorating walks and excursions. The island's volcanic origin is evident in its eight thermo-basins, springs, geysers, and arenas known for their therapeutic properties. Additionally, the local microclimate supports exceptional fruit and vegetable production.
took me 30min from forno to the peak. Better bring good shoes and no flip flops as other tourists did. Beautiful walk with nices views! Would really recommend staying at the two restaurants (aragonese and the one on the top)
Aaron — Google review
An amazing place that becomes even more beautiful during the sunset or the sunrise. The hike from Fontana is short but steep. Wearing good shoes is a must especially on the way down where it can be slippery. From the top, a 360 degrees view can be observed. You can see Capri, the Vesuve and the golf of Naples.
Benjamin — Google review
Worth a visit, view is spectacular. We came before 10 am, very few people. Recommended to visit early in the day both because the temperature is lower and it becomes very crowded at the top.
Vidar H — Google review
Fantastic mount to climb. Way is not really hard but be sure to take comfortable boots as it takes to climb about 300m from bus stop. Views are worth it, if You like nature - get in there!
Karol — Google review
Beautiful view from the top of the island. The hike is short but steep. Not for the faint of heart. Parking was full so we had to park on road down the hill.
Sam B — Google review
This morning's hike to Mount Epomeo on Ischia was nothing short of magical. As I ascended the well-trodden paths, surrounded by lush vineyards and vibrant wildflowers, I felt a deep connection with nature. The sky transformed with every step, shifting from deep indigo to the warm hues of dawn. Reaching the summit just in time, I watched the sun rise majestically over the horizon, casting golden rays across the landscape. The tranquil beauty and serene atmosphere of the mountain, coupled with the distant sparkling sea, created an unforgettable moment of peace and awe.
Rex M — Google review
Go all the way to the top if you’re up for it and have sure footing! The first hill up the long concrete road is steep, flanked by lovely local plants on either side. The dirt path up the mountain is also steep and sometimes Barry, sometimes large rocks, but not impossible (I am active and strong, but am not a Cross Fit junkie, and there were a wide variety of folks at the top). The very top of the rock might be a lot for those who are afraid of heights, but there is a guard rail to hold for balance and the view is absolutely beautiful. I got a limone arance mista juice at the top restaurant and had a heart lunch / dessert at La Porta di Agartha Ristorante afterward (a bit further back down from the tip top) which I highly highly recommend. I started around 11:30am-ish and took my time, and by the time I got to Agartha restaurant it was about 1:00pm.
Sasha N — Google review
Good to bring a walking stick or two, it helps when you reach the portion of the hike where trekkers have worn down the rocks to narrow channels over centuries. Unexpectedly, the restaurant at the top was open in mid-November. When the last 30 feet had too much vertical exposure for me, I was able to retreat to the lovely terrace and enjoy a beer while I waited for my daughter. It took me an hour to reach the top, climbing at an easy pace. I probably wouldn’t do it in mid-summer though, too hot and crowded.

Great place for anyone interested in history. The climb is not easy, but worth once you are at the top. They did lock some areas behind doors, but there are still enough individual areas to see.

Absolutely gorgeous! We booked for Apertif. Walked around the castle afterwards on our way to dinner. The castle has rooms you can stay in, a restaurant, and a cocktail lounge. You must book via email on their website. Amazing place!

So beautiful castle surrounded by the sea and linked to the island through a bridge. We spent there almost 1 day because we were fascinated by the incredible views from above

So worth it! Well kept, easy to get around and the small pamphlet has lots of information. Beautiful views everywhere you look and worth stopping at the Café near the Olive Trees Garden both for the view and a granita.

Do not miss going to this castle on your trip to the island It is not a tourist trap , it is absolutely breathtaking and a beautiful way to spend an afternoon! They sell the last tickets at 4:30 in the afternoon and you could take in sunset from the glorious view point !

Ok... the comments about being in shape to tackle this place especially when it's hot are not overexagerated! I would not bring little kids or anyone that can't handle a bit of a trek. However there are bathrooms and cafés at the midpoint and top. Prices are really fair so don't hesitate to stop for a beverage and enjoy the terrace views. It's an incredible and massive structure with a really long history. It also has a some amazing views so for us it was more than worth it. Warning... the Ischia bus system is amazing BUT if you bus it to the Castle, Bus 7 has no air conditioning and is packed full. Also the bus stop is right across from the taxis just before the causeway to the castle. It's not marked so it's a bit confusing where to wait for the bus.

An amazing experience! Went with my family, including a toddler and 6 month old and found it convenient and kid friendly enough. While the children aren’t allowed near the hot/ cold pools, there is a large enough area for them with 3 pools and ample seating. The space is gorgeous with every detail thought of. Highly recommend and will be back!

Proof if any were needed of the geothermal activity in the Bay of Naples. Although children are not permitted to enter the main hot pools, there are pools where they can happily play if supervised by an adult so it isn't too restrictive. My wife had a great time in the hot pools and sauna while i looked after our little one. For us this was a great day out from Sorrento where we were staying and involved an enjoyable ferry trip from Sorrento harbour,

Such a beautiful park! My husband, 1.5 year old son, and I visited for the day. Kids aren’t allowed in the thermal park so we stayed by the kids pools and switched off enjoying the spas. Such a relaxing experience at a great value. We got lunch at the cafe as well. The pool areas were clean and spacious and everyone there was respectful. One of the highlights of our trip.

Wow. Amazing day trip from Sorrento. Can’t recommend enough. Tons of restrooms and changing areas. Hundreds of chairs and umbrellas free of charge. Free locker to leave belongings. Affordable delicious food. Mostly locals

Super clean, nice and relaxing atmosphere. There are free lockers and many changing areas. Two restaurants for breakfast and lunch, not too many choices, but there are some still. You need a whole day to visit everything and enjoy the park’s diversity.
Cristea A — Google review
Great experience for a day. The entry is 50 € per person for the whole day. You can choose in any area a sunbed for the day. They have a bar open all day with drinks, desserts and sandwiches and a restaurant with food till 4pm I think. The pools are clean and with Ward water from 32 to 40°. It's worth the experience for a day if you stay 7 days on the island.

Beach
Spiaggia di San Montano is a stunning small beach nestled among rugged cliffs, offering rental sun beds and opportunities for swimming and sunbathing. The area holds historical significance as the promontory of Monte Vico served as an acropolis overlooking the sea, with nearby bays functioning as a commercial port and shelter for vessels. The plain of Santa Restituta allowed productive activity in the small town, while the valley of San Montano hosted a necropolis.
This is probably our favorite beach in Ischia. It’s divided into two parts: one is free, and the other has paid umbrellas and sun beds. The water is clear and not too crowded, especially in the peak season.
Oliver P — Google review
Nice beach, quiet but less clean water. But nice spot especially together with Negombo 👍🏼
Petr S — Google review
Nice beach with moderately steady slope for younger kids. There is free shade along shade if you don’t have umbrella next to cliffs. Water is clean and not rough bc in cove
Tuan P — Google review
Beach itself spreading in two parts. Arroun 70% private (you have to pay) and 30% public (for free). We used free on, they including toilets. The shade from the mountains come first on the free beach. It’s very great with kids, you need to walk little bit in the water to not feel sand under you feet. It’s very lovely. We are visiting in mid September so it’s not crowded. Recommend
Olya F — Google review
Way too expensive for such basic service. No side tables, no lockers. Umbrellas are not adjustable. Owners should invest more into the facilities, not just raise the prices
Anton G — Google review
Very nice beach. We liked it as I can’t swim but it’s shallow enough for me to be able to touch the ground with my feet quite far out. Half of it has sun loungers to rent and half of it is just free with no sun loungers etc. There’s also a small bar serving aperol spritz, beers etc. We got there via bus. It’s a bit of a walk down but not half as bad as it looks as it’s mostly some steps and then a restive flat path, so if you don’t mind a ten min walk and a short bit with steps, it’s fine to get to from the bus. We went fairly late and stayed til gone 7pm, when the water was still warm enough.
Adam P — Google review
The beach says free but actually it’s only a small area of sand where you can sit down and it’s crowded and dirty. The umbrellas are 60€ per day which is insane and you cannot even sit down on the sand because they send you away. The staff is rude and the whole beach is really not worth visiting.
Daniella K — Google review
A very nice beach in Ischia, nice water and views. Went on Saturday, not crowded even if beach it's not that big. €50 for 2 sunbeds for whole day or €25 after 2pm. There are clean showers for which you have to pay a small fee, changing rooms and clean toilets. Definitely one of the best beaches on the island if you prefer to have 'space'. Only one snack bar which is a bit pricey for what they offer.

You can savor traditional options like the classic bruschetta or indulge in vegan-friendly sides such as fried potatoes and zucchini. The pasta selections are equally enticing, with spaghetti topped with rich tomato sauce being a standout choice.
Super delicious and such a nice atmosphere! I had the best seafood risotto I’ve ever tried here. The service was excellent as well. Sitting outside was very pleasant, the temperature was just right. Overall, a wonderful experience.

This is the busiest place in town. Italians usually eat late but to get in they are going early, the place is packed by 8pm. They take your name and you can wait outside, looked like a 30-40 min wait. They do takeaway pizzas & you don’t have to wait as long, they discount the by €2 so 2pizzas cost us €11… bargin and best pizza I’ve had (though I’m not a lover of pizza) these were not soggy, dough light & toppings tasty. The rest of the menu sounded great, the only place that did risotto but I didn’t want to wait that long. They don’t take reservations just just come & see

We really enjoyed our first visit, so we came back just a couple of days later! It does get crowded, but the service remains professional and efficient, so the wait time is very reasonable. The food is tasty, and the prices are truly some of the best in the area. Highly recommend!

We had a wonderful evening here the other night and loved it so much we went back again tonight. We enjoyed the bruschetta, grilled fish, fresh limone pasta, tomato salad and gelato to finish it off. Pizza restaurant
Ristorante Pizzeria la Bella Napoli al Porto has a rich history, with its roots tracing back to the opening of the first La Bella Napoli by Chef Serafino in Monterone in December 1980. The restaurant quickly gained popularity for its delicious cuisine and mouthwatering pizzas. After 30 years, Ciro and his friend Leopoldo revived the renowned name by opening Ristorante Pizzeria la Bella Napoli al Porto.
As if these guys needed my praises: the whole gang is so pleasant and relaxed, attentive and helpful, and despite its prime tourist venue location it offers an extremely good value for money. It’s not cheap if you go beyond pizzas and such but every euro extra is worth it. The food is of the highest standard, creative and traditional at once, the house tagliatelle with porcini and squid floored me and the pistachio ricotta biscuit cup was the coup de grace that rolled me over to the Spiaggia di Chiaia like a contented pussycat after 💝

Will not even exaggerate saying it's in the current top-3 of my favourite restaurants. I visited it at the end of March, right after the opening. PRICES: me and a friend had a bill of 70 euros including water, glass of wine, mixed grilled fish, big salad, mozzarella and fried squids (check my pictures), a babà and coffee. CONS: the price of a mixed fish grill is pretty expensive for southern Italy standards, specially about price/amount ratio. PROS: the food is great, the service is very fast, polite and available. Many good options in the menu. Place is well located, clean and with great atmosphere.

Baia di Sorgeto, nestled in the Forio region of Ischia, is a hidden gem that offers a unique bathing experience without traditional sandy beaches. Instead, visitors are greeted by rocky outcrops and natural thermal pools filled with warm water year-round. This enchanting cove allows adventurous souls to take moonlit dips under the stars or soak during the day amidst stunning scenery.
Baia di sorgeto was absolutely fabulous! It’s totally free unless you want a lounge char, for which there is a price. They serve food at the bottom. The water is incredible, ranging from very hot to cool. The farther away you get from the mouth of the thermal spa, the cooler it gets as the warm mixes with the cold. Very therapeutic. I do recommend water socks with a good grip. The rocks are very slippery and potentially dangerous. Also, be prepared for 300 steps down and up. I highly recommend and intend to return when I’m in Ischia again.
Joseph M — Google review
This is a neat spot! It does get quite crowded in the thermal spas (even early). Rocks are very slippery so you need to be careful and it is recommended to bring water shoes. We were staying at punta chiarito resort and came down here a few times. One day we used the water taxi to take us to Sant’Angelo which was really cool and quite easy. You pay on the boat in euro or at the stand/restaurant with card when you arrive or depart.
T S — Google review
Glad we went! The water was lovely on the rainy day when went. With the waves crashing the hot thermal water mixes with the cold sea and it is a very unique experience. Maybe it was the time of year but there weren’t too many people and with just a bit of waiting we got ourselves some pretty good seats in the end. The atmosphere is also great with people being very friendly; helping you in and warning you about the hotter areas. Just try to not sit in the parts with a lot of debris - this was a slightly annoying addition in some parts.
Borbala T — Google review
An unquestionably fascinating and enjoyable experience. Here you can bathe at a place where volcanic hot springs meet the sea. Swim out further to refresh with cool, clean, sea water. Or swim closer to the volcanic source to feel the warm flow. Also here you can rent a sun chair and have a delicious bruschetta. Free areas are also available, but a little crowded and uncomfortable.
Bryce M — Google review
Forio is a lovely town. We visited in late October and weren't lucky with the weather. There are some free thermal springs nearby if the sea isn't too wild. The place is friendly, clean and welcoming. Explore food options out of the town for the best food and prices. I recommend Da Gisella 10 minutes down the road.
Hannah W — Google review
Loved it here, you can rent beds and sun chairs (there are only around 8 of each). The bar serves food, drinks and icecream and you can buy swimming shoes as well, as the beach is rocky and slippery. The thermal area is relatively small. The hot water mixed with the colder sea water offers a very relaxing experience.
Alla — Google review
What an amazing place! Spent over 1hr in the thermal water and felt great afterwards, Del Pirata D’Ischia can apply a natural clay which feels great for a few euro, be careful on the rocks as it’s rather slippery so worth it!!

Nestled near Chiaia beach, Ristorante La Ruota offers a delightful escape into the heart of Ischia Island's local culture. As you arrive, you'll be greeted by the warm ambiance of families and locals enjoying their evening under the fading sun. The culinary experience here is nothing short of fantastic; patrons rave about the fried anchovies (alici), which are simply divine! The generous portions are bursting with flavor, making it an underrated gem that truly deserves recognition.
Loved it! From the moment you park your car/scooter or arrive to the area where La Ruota is located, it feels like a different and more authentic place on the island, full of locals enjoying the last rays of sun, families and older people chatting casually on the street. The food - fantastic! We had to have another portion of the fried anchovies (alici) - they were divine! Amazing view of the water, the wait staff was beyond kind and did an excellent service, and the price of the food along with the location of the restaurant was stellar. The worst pasta ever. The table behind us also didn't like their pasta. I don't know if the calamares were from the can or not, but very bad taste. The souce was also the worst pasta sauce I ever had. Total catastrophe. Go to the resturant next to them. Never here..

One of the best restaurant in Forio, right on the beach. Big portions and fair prices. We ordered bruchetta con tonno, parmigiana, mussels with tomatoes and beef with lemon sauce. With half litre of wine and a big bottle of sparkling water - 54 euros. The staff is great!
Razvan B — Google review
Their food is absolutely delicious!! Usually, restaurants located either ‘central’ or ‘beachfront’ are overrated and not to mention overpriced. But here, it’s the exact opposite of that! We had a lovely view of the sunset from the Chiaia beach while having our tasty dinner. Quality and quantity match the fair prices. Staff are also friendly and welcoming. Situated high above Lacco Ameno, the restaurant boasts its own vineyards and vegetable gardens, reflecting Chef Alberto Iacono's dedication to organic farming and sustainable cuisine. Went jul24. don’t take online, WhatsApp or email booking - by phone only. Don’t speak English, so booking is hard for some of us. Restaurant not sign posted, just a door bell. There is a car park but it only takes cash and Italian only instructions . An Italian friend booked over the phone for us, but when we got there, there was no sign of our booking. Kindly they managed to squeeze us in. This is an extremely local , old school restaurant- one of only a handful on the island . They produce their own red wine, but I’m afraid it wasn’t to my taste. We were served the mixed starters before sitting down and before being shown any menu. The starters consisted of four or five mixed courses including mussels and tomato sauce, pizza, bread and mozzarella with tomatoes. we were presented a menu for the main course and I ordered pasta with a fillet steak. However a sirloin steak arrived which was a lower price point on the menu, however they still charged the price of the fillet steak. Steak was under-seasoned - tried asking for salt and pepper a few times but it didn’t arrive, so steak went uneaten. In summary a fantastically beautiful and local restaurant though quite challenging for non-Italian speakers.

WOW. We had a great experience here. This was something different. This was BY FAR our favorite spot on our trip to Ischia! We had accidentally found this restaurant, thanks to google maps, reading the positive reviews and have tried to see the „old Italien school“ restaurant. Entrance is a little difficult to find, one must ring at to enter. Accidentally, we got a table without reservation and so many great things to say! The food was absolutely delicious and so very fresh. The staff were so kind and welcoming. We loved the atmosphere with live music and overall location. Stunning view from above we had. Highly recommended.

Food was amazing, the atmosphere is also mesmerizing. However the staff could be a bit more smiling and welcoming. Personally for me it felt a bit awkward. The wine that they produce tastes amazing! It is written online that they take card, but when you go there the first think they say is that they take only cash! You also don’t get a lot of food for the money! Dishes are not kid friendly, since they are chilli/peppery. Overall ok experience, concerning taste and location, but I would not go there again.

The restaurant is situated at a very nice and different location with views from the island's mountains. The menu is fixed with a limited amount of choices, but is designed in order to have them all work together extremely well. All of the dishes we got to try were very good and all of the portion sizes were abundant. We received various appetizers, some bottles of water, pasta, risotto, meat, sausages, and three different desserts and ended up paying a stunning low bill of 60€ for 2 people. Nice beach with good cafes but pricey umbrella and loungers. The water was warm and pretty clear Beach is really no dirty, water is not so clean. Nice sandy beach with a variety of bars and restaurants. There is also a tiny, less fortunately placed free beach. A little crowded but easy access to food, gelato and drinks. Rent a chair and umbrella and get service for drinks and food. From the bus stop it's just under 10 minutes on foot to get to the beach. Here is a photo where the stretch of sea was very beautiful. The water is not very clear due to the sandy bottom, but just go a few meters out to sea and immediately find the usual clarity.

Beach is really dirty, water is not so clean, and even if you pay 30€ for 2 sunbeds & umbrella, if you want to take a shower with clean water, you have to pay extra, with cash. The staff is rude, and they also allow peddlers sell junk on the beach and walk freely among sunbeds and people’s belongings. Lovely little beach if you’re up for a nice long stroll down a windy road and steps, and back up again. I love that it wasn’t as crowded as the other beaches probably because it’s not as readily accessible. The sun goes down over the mountain around 3/4pm but I didn’t mind at all and had a really nice day there. Two restaurants serve food and have a typical café/bar for beverages but I brought my lunch. I did unfortunately find some trash on the beach maybe from the wind washing it ashore, so I implore you to pick up and throw away anything you see to help keep the beaches and sea life healthy!

The beach Miramare e Castello offers panoramic views of the Aragonese Castle and Sorrento Bay. It features a spa, an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, private beach and air-conditioning. The breakfast was good and the bartender was very friendly. I would definitely come back!
This Aragonian palace / castle / fortress is a definite must! If you are even close to Ischia , you have to see it! It has a very bloody history and past, but how it is made, the entire architecture, and the view, that is beyond anything! Unfortunately, some of the frescos are damaged by visitors and it brings a question : how should the cultural heritage be protected?! I can't believe there are people among us who are willing to carve their names in the frescos of saints hundreds of years old! There is no security on site. However, they will ask for sanitary pass due to Covid pandemic at the entrance, so you better bring your test or vacances code. The view is amazing. Sea is astonishing and intense blue, and water around the castle is perfect and clean, you should def go for a swim.

Giardini Ravino is a tropical-Mediterranean botanical garden located on the island of Ischia, Italy. The garden's lush pathways offer stunning views and rare plant specimens, all cared for by Giuseppe DAmbra. Surrounding Villa Ravino, the garden features olive trees, palms, lemon and orange trees.
Giardini Ravino is a photographer’s paradise! I had an amazing time capturing the exotic plants that fill the garden—there's an incredible variety of cacti and succulents that you don’t often see. The birds wandering freely through the territory added an extra touch of life and beauty to the experience. In addition to the stunning plant life, I was struck by the beautiful paintings and small architectural details scattered throughout the garden. They create a unique atmosphere that blends art with nature, making each corner of Giardini Ravino feel special and thoughtfully designed. Absolutely stunning experience! We got to see some very unique cactuses! I would love to say a massive thank you to the lady owner who let us earlier prior it being opened for public! We arrived fiver 30 minutes before it opened and got huge surprise to get in! Thank you very much! We loved white peacocks and cactus cocktails at 10am was a great touch!

Yesterday I visited this wonderful garden. I was really impressed by its great collection of cacti as welll as other beautiful plants. There you can see some birds and rabbits, too. Everything in the park is so nicely decorated. They thought about every small detail there like putting fragrances in the premises that smell really well. There are also several cool photo zones for taking beautiful pictures. And of course, the is also a wonderful view of the sea and the island. Also, the staff was really welcoming. They clearly explained to everyone how to navigate in the park. The staff member speaks several languages. So, I highly recommend this place to everyone who is staying in Forio.

What a little gem of a place! An amazing young garden, lots of different plants a d cacti. Some of the interpretation could do with a upgrade or refresh, perhaps a little more would be good too. The restaurant was very good and well priced. Will certainly be back the next time I'm over.

A truly surreal experience. Fabulous cactus garden with so many different types and perfectly laid out. One of the most interesting gardens I've visited.
Pete A — Google review
We visited the botanical garden which specialises in cactus growing. It's a fascinating place with lots of interest crammed into quite a small area. We spent around 90 minutes wandering around the garden. It is a very peaceful place with cool spots to sit and take in the lovely smell of the herbs and flowers. We finished with a snack and a cocktail at the Cactus Lounge. They were very welcoming and the food was excellent. I tried their own spritz made with herbs growing in the garden and really enjoyed it.
Janet B — Google review
Wonderful place, here the atmosphere is simply breathtaking. Whether you just get lost in the garden or want to chill for a bit drinking their famous cactus cocktail in their cozy “cactus lounge cafe” this place will make you want to come back for more.

We stayed at Giardini Ravino at the resort for five days in August of 2024 for our honeymoon and it was the best accommodation of our month in Italy! The hospitality from Lukas and others was beyond exceptional. If we could have spent the entire honeymoon there, we could have happily! The entire resort is spotlessly clean, the pools were relaxing, the air conditioned rooms were so cute and tasteful, and we were always attended to so thoughtfully. The cabs organized on our behalf were a bonus! Truly, we cannot say enough good about Ravino. One day we can’t wait to come back! 🇨🇦🤍🇮🇹 Thank you!! - Cadence and Bryan

Public beach
Spiaggia dei Pescatori, also known as Fishermans Beach, is situated near Ischia Porto and was historically reserved for fishermen. Today, it's a popular spot to observe the morning activities of local fishermen. Similar to many beaches in Italy and Europe, this beach features beach clubs where visitors can rent lounge chairs and enjoy lunch. While the free beach may not be pristine, it offers volcanic sand that is suitable for children.
Great orange juice from a nice chap in the cubucle. Also lovely views of the castle.

Nice place with clean beach. It was overcrowded and has no public shower or toilet. Have that in mind when you are coming. There is possibly to pay for sun-bed and then you can use the shower.
Jovana S — Google review
Second best beach on Ichia? Rent umbrellas or bring your own. Can be a bit crowded, specially in weekends.
Torje B — Google review
Went on 22nd of August and it was too crowded, but still a very nice beach.
Panagiotis D — Google review
Perfect beach for people who are staying on the island only few hours. Very crowded during the weekend, the public space is very small. Highly recommended to bring/rent an umbrella (it’s possible to get one for 7 euro from one of the bars on the beach). Beautiful view!
Benedetta — Google review
By noon in the summer the dark grey sand gets too hot to walk on barefoot, so bring flipflops. The beach is a narrow strip between the road and the water, as you can see on the map. Not too crowded on a weekday in the daytime. The water is clear, but has small flakes and dust floating on its surface.
Sander H — Google review
Good free beach. Take a towels and tents. It can be cleaner, but ok for city beach. Water is better in morning and evening when majority of tourists are off to home. Has a volcanic sand and is suitable for little children. There are little shops around where you can find ice cream, chips, water etc. Best view to Castle.

The swimming is excellent !! There are caves at one end that you can swim into And little hidden beaches that you can also swim over to you There is beach volleyball , and lots of people playing games as it’s a very busy beach A lot of children ! I was there on a weekend so it was very busy! But a lot of fun Bring an umbrella or rent one as there is no shade to be found !

Beautifull natural beach, free access & without lido, a joyel of Ischia... Expect quiet a few step to access & limited space on the beach in season. Pictures from Jan.23, the beach has been washed away/much reduced during the last storms!

We, my husband, 18 months old toddler, and I, ordered Lemon ravioli, calamari in balsamic vinegar, steak, and beef carpaccio with cheese cake and Mila tiramisu. The food was fantastic! The cheesecake was so creamy and melted on my tongue. The service was also magnificent.

Poseidon, located on Ischia, is a highly recommended destination for relaxation and rejuvenation. Rex M — Google review
Beautiful place on the side of the cliffs, with direct access to a sandy beach. More than 20 thermal swimming pools, saunas and other facilities, restaurants, cafés. Absolutely stunning! My issue with the place was their accessibility. Which they advertised so much on their website. Well, I wouldn't call it at all accessible. We arrived with a person in a wheelchair, paid the entrance fee, someone even drew on the map the route we could take with the wheelchair and the pools which are accessible. Well, the ground that was marked as accessible is clearly not meant for wheelchairs, as it is not even, and I barely managed to push it through to the first pool which was marked accessible. When we arrived at the pool, and asked about the hoist to lower down people into the pool, the staff told me that it was broken. No one even bothered to mention this at the entrance! Also they mention a wooden deck which enables wheelchair accessibility (to a degree) to the beach. Yet again, nowhere to be found. I know I am talking about a pool resort on an island, but we specifically went to this place because of the accessibility they mentioned on their website. Stunning place, but not at all accessible.

Largest Thermal Park in Europe - 20 thermal pools incl. Kneipp, 1 salt water, 2 kids pools, sauna in the mountain and a large beach with all equipment such as standup paddle SUP, canoe, etc. Fantastic DAY SPA with massage, osteo therapy, facials, manicure, pedicure, thermal water inhalation and all the other great things! Beautiful boutique as well with a great selection for all tastes! 3 Restaurants with amazing seafood, fish, meat, homemade pastries and homemade ice cream! Live piano with chansons every day at 4.30pm MUST GO when you visit Ischia ❤️❤️❤️
Linda H — Google review
Cool place for a relaxing day. Food is priced at a premium, bring your own towels, or rent them. If you rent them for €5 they don't allow you to exchange a wet towel for a dry one. You will need a shower cap, but they sell those there as well for €2.50 Follow the maps, go from pool to pool, finishing off with the hottest then the coldest. Keep yourself in the coldest for as long as you can, 15 seconds will do it, but 1 minute max. and you'll feel the amazing sensation of your body being revitalized with the "buzz" afterwards. Then relax for an hour and let your body rejuvenate.
Andrew H — Google review
Fantastic thermal spa experience. A must visit place. Your body will appreciate it!
Dinee — Google review
Fantastic place. Huge. We go to a lot of hot springs places everywhere we travel, and this is up there with the best. The scale is huge and it is fun to explore the whole property all day. We were there on an uncrowded midweek day in early October - I can imagine that in the middle of the season, I might not have liked it quite as much. I can't imagine visiting Ischia and skipping this.
John B — Google review
Highly recommend this place. We visited as part of a tour group from a cruise ship and were very pleased that we made the journey. The different temperature pools are fun to experience, getting in and out of a hot and very cold pool back to back. Make sure you walk to the back of the property to eat at the Grotto del Vino restaurant where we had a buffet with fresh veggies, meat and cheese plate, and wine from the island. The staff spoke some English and there are clean bathrooms to change in. You must wear a skull cap over your hair in the pools.
Adam W — Google review

Zipline & Aerial Adventure Parks
Ischia Adventure Park, also known as Parco Divertimenti a Ischia, is a thrilling destination for adventure seekers. Located in the picturesque island of Ischia, it offers a wide range of activities such as paintball and suspended camping in the midst of nature. The park is nestled within the lush Pineta di Fiaiano forest, providing an ideal setting for outdoor enthusiasts to immerse themselves in exhilarating experiences.
We were greeted by very friendly staff and taken good care of. the five of us enjoyed the climbing. The green tracks were cosy not very hard. But everyone had some challenges with the red track in the end. The air was not so warm in between the trees. We recommend doing the extra zip line(s). The view from the second zip line is a great one over the bay. Four of us did paintball. And it was more fun than I expected. The area to fight in is perhaps a bit small for groups larger than 10 but we had ample space.

Loved Every Minute – A Must-Do in Ischia! Such a Beautiful, Challenging, and Unforgettable Experience Ischia Adventure Park was one of the absolute highlights of our trip. Surrounded by lush, wild nature, it felt like stepping into another world — peaceful, thrilling, and totally immersive. The courses are fun and surprisingly challenging in the best way. You might start off unsure, but you quickly build confidence and end up feeling proud and empowered. What truly makes the difference is the staff: incredibly kind, supportive, and motivating. They’re always there to guide and encourage you, turning fear into joy and real accomplishment. With stunning views, a rush of adrenaline, and so many laughs, this experience stays with you. We went as a group of friends and left with a memory we’ll never forget. Don’t miss it. 100% worth it!

Wonderful place! Don't let the casual, friendly feel or a little faded paint make you think anything isn't looked after. The staff is very well trained and the safety equipment is top on the line. I've visited similar facilities all over the world and this is one of the best I've seen. The staff was wonderful with my rambunctious, English speaking kid. He spent 2 hours in the trees with them and came back all smiles. I'm shocked they offer so much for so little cost. We'll definitely be back when we visit Ischia again.

I was at Ischia Adventure Park two weeks ago in July. It was super fun! I did the easy circuit, the two ziplines, and the Castello bridge. All of this with the help of the staff who were looking over us, encouraging us, and making sure we were safe all the time. All the circuits were well maintained and innovative. Everyone was super friendly, I specially enjoyed having Maria by my side, she was amazing, so professional yet kind and warm.
