Mariposario del Drago Butterfly Park, located in Icod de Los Vinos, Tenerife, is a charming glassed-in tropical garden that houses over 800 free-flying butterflies from around the world. Situated near the famous Millenary Dragon Tree and the Church of San Marcos, this park offers an educational and fascinating experience for both kids and adults.
Absolutely amazing place for any age visitors. It is very informative and amazing to watch every step of butterflies' life. Tickets are very affordable. Two parrots inside made me wonder if they didn't eat butterflies, and the team members told me they definitely don't feed on them 😂 Very relaxing music playing inside, beautiful plants, some fish in the ponds as well. A place for peace ✌️

This is a truly magical place where you can observe beautiful butterflies up close – some of them even land on you if you’re lucky! The highlight for me, however, was a playful and very loud parrot who clearly enjoyed being the center of attention. We ended up spending much more time there than we had planned. I highly recommend visiting – it’s an experience full of charm and joy!

This is a wonderful place! The staff is kind and well informing you about the basic rules before entering. Very nicely arranged and maintained interior, beautiful flowers and butterflies which you can observe in their pupa stage as well. If you are brave enough the staff can put a night butterfly on your hands to see them even closer. The absolute show stealers were the parrots in there, which was a very pleasant surprise as they are not mentioned on the website. There was a very-very friendly Cockatiel there who flies on the shoulders of men only, and we could even pet her. Strongly recommend this place!

We were very lucky to be staying nearby. This place is amazing for young and old. They have docents who teach in multiple languages. They rehab birds too (who may climb on you if they have a chance). There is a nice educational video shown downstairs. It’s peaceful and we could have stayed for hours.
Keely C — Google review
Amazing place to visit. You may see FULL CYCLE of butterfly life. All butterflies were born here. Park has own laboratory where butterflies go through all stages of their development starting from the egg. Great atmosphere inside. Turtles and parrots add to the feeling of being in a rainforest The entrance fee is 9.50 Euros. Parking cost 1.80 euro per hour
Oleksandr P — Google review
A great place to spend a couple of hours or more, to unwind. As an entomologist, I fully appreciated the range of species flying around, found it a challenge to find some ova and larvae on their host plants around the butterfly house, especially the Ornithoptera priamus on the Aristolochia vines, and also the informative video and displays shown below the Mariposario. The staff were friendly, helpful and informative, and the birds are friendly too! Highly recommended for people of all ages, nationalities and interests. The entry fees range from 7 to 10 €, and given what can be seen, I think this is excellent overall value for money.

The visit was a wonderful experience. There is a lovely athmosphere with lots of butterflys and some cute birds and turtles. The stuff is very friendly, answers questions and explains a lot around the animals. They love their job. Great!

Enjoyed the beach and its relaxing vibe! ✅It has bathrooms, a couple of restaurants, and cafes, & is not crowded ⛔️ Rocky, small sandy beach

Small city beach with black sand and facilities (toilets, showers, restaurant). Sunbeds and umbrellas available for rent (€3/each). No other natural shade. Go to the restaurant above the beach - one of the waiters was responsible for renting. Rocky water access but in general good conditions for swimming as it's hidden in the bay so waves are weak. No strong wind either. Beach is accessible with stroller.

(Translated by Google) Spectacular plaza. When you arrive, you think it's just a typical plaza, but you climb the stairs and boom. A church in the middle (I recommend visiting it), a viewpoint overlooking the ancient dragon tree (you'll save a few bucks on the entrance fee), lots of vegetation, and some terraces. It's a place that invites you to indulge. We really liked it. (Original) Espectacular plaza, uno cuando esta llegando que seria la tipica plaza pero subes las escaleras y zasss. Museum Malvasia in Tenerife offers a unique experience for wine enthusiasts. While not a traditional museum, visitors can learn about the history and business of Canarian wines, particularly Malvasia. The friendly staff provides detailed explanations of each wine during tastings. Situated near Parque del Drago, the museum's beautiful backyard setting adds to its charm. Guests praise the generous hospitality and exquisite wines, making it a must-visit destination in Tenerife.
A must-try experience in Tenerife! The owner of the winery is a very kind and warm person. Try the wine tasting workshop — we went there with friends and absolutely loved the location, the atmosphere, and of course, the wine! We tasted 8 different kinds of wine, and the owner himself told us about each one. Everything we didn’t finish was packed for us to take home! Highly recommended — I’ll definitely be coming back!

This was a highlight of my trip. The host made it so special, from introduction to tasting. I'm hoping to come back to spend a whole afternoon next time. So chill and relaxing. P.s. the homemade source is also delicious! Thank you for hosting
Yiyan Z — Google review
Repeating the others: don’t get fooled by the small low lit shop, the luscious terrace in the back is cozy and intimate. Host was friendly, passionate and informative - he recommended us a good local restaurant for lunch and it was splendid!. Wines were delicious, we had wine tastings and ended up having an extra glass of wine. Will return soon!

Excellent place to visit in Icod de Los vinos en Tenerife Spain. The experience was amazing great services but the host.
Onay S — Google review
The best wine tasting experience of exquisite Tenerife wines and sampling of local products was the top highlight of our entire trip. The owner instantly felt like a friend and his local expertise was beyond priceless. It's clear that this is a family establishment that does things right and cares about the quality of their service. We were impressed how one person can run this massive, secret garden, kitchen and the shop on his own. New generation has some serious skills. If you are debating to go or not, GO! It's an incredible experience a true jam, cultural treasure of Icod de los Vinos. We just adored it and can't wait to go back again the next time.

Juan was one of the best hostesses we had in the whole Tenerife island. He explained to us the whole history of the place and the wines he offered us. The place is amazing, with an explicit atmosphere in the beautiful garden. I would recommend the place to everyone without any hesitation. Thank you once again Juan for the wonderful experience. Nestled in the charming town of Icod de los Vinos, Casa del Drago is a must-visit dining destination that captures the essence of traditional Spanish cuisine. This delightful restaurant offers a warm and inviting atmosphere, perfect for enjoying a meal with friends or family. With its picturesque setting reminiscent of a fairytale, Casa del Drago provides an exceptional culinary experience that showcases local flavors and ingredients.
I really like this place. If it is busy, there are a lot of tables to keep happy, but there are 2 people in the kitchen and 2 people in front house and they all work their rocks off! Sure, sometimes if there is a rush of people/orders it is busy and you might have to wait a bit but you’re in a beautiful place with amazing views of the Dragon tree. If you are in a rush, maybe tell them and if they are too busy, perhaps just leave, but otherwise just chill out and enjoy a special place with great food, drinks and atmosphere.
Simon M — Google review
Amazing location, with the views on one of the oldest trees in the world. On top of the views, great music, and a very welcoming and warm atmosphere, the food is simply amazing - the drinks are well thought through: simple and unique. The food is the same - only a few dishes to choose from, all of them amazing. The octopus with mango was probably the best on coast. Highly recommended.

One of the cutest cafe I’ve EVER been to!! Amazing food, amazing atmosphere and music, and super friendly staff🤍 such a good experience. We managed to come twice during our trip, since we loved it so much. I will definitely miss this place :(

This place never disappoints, the food is fantastic and the vibe is really special. We always bring visitors to this gem and, today, we visited for my niece's birthday - she loved every minute. Ofelia greeted us with a hug and she never fails to deliver top class, friendly and amusing service. Hasta pronto!

Visited for a spot of lunch, the food and service were outstanding, the only downside is that I didn't find this place sooner, I would definitely visit again next time I am visiting Tenerife, fantastico

The place has great decor, which creates a really pleasant atmosphere. The service was very nice (I absolutely do not confirm the recent negative reviews), being 7 people we really efficiently received the order, despite the fact that the restaurant was 80% full. The food really tasty, the view of the park fantastic, I personally recommend.

Nestled in the heart of nature, El Lagar is a delightful recreation area and campsite perfect for summer camps aimed at children. To reach this serene spot, adventurers can follow the La Guancha - Casa Forestal track and take the second dirt road on their right. For those seeking more outdoor fun, nearby Las Hayas (or El Pino de la Pipa) offers another charming camping experience accessible from Icod via Barrio Redondo.
(Translated by Google) “El Lagar” is a very nice holiday home. The house with 2 bedrooms (twin beds), living/dining room, kitchen, bathroom with walk-in shower and a large terrace with a small private swimming pool is located on the edge of the town «Icod de los Vinos». The beds and sofa are very comfortable and the house was very clean. You are on the highway within 3 minutes, but you don't hear the traffic. You can easily park your car on the street around the corner. We enjoyed staying here for a week and a half. Don't expect luxury, but you have everything you need for a nice holiday here. With a little effort you can see the volcano «El Teide» and also the sea from the terrace. And I never expected that a house for this price even has a swimming pool. We used the pool every day in February. The owner lives in the adjacent house and he was always available to answer questions or help if necessary. El Lagar is a traditional house that consists of several small buildings and has been very ingeniously transformed into one house by one shared roof and a small extension. El Lagar is highly recommended, also because of the excellent price-quality ratio.

I had a wonderful experience at Artylandia in Tenerife. The museum has an impressive collection of dolls, beautifully displayed, and the shop offers a great selection of local souvenirs. The owner was incredibly kind and welcoming - when my friend wasn’t feeling well, he even offered us tea and assistance. He also gave us a great tour, explaining the process of making dolls in an engaging way. It was a truly pleasant visit, and I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a unique and charming experience!

My partner and I had the BEST visit to ARTlandya! As someone who collected dolls as a child, I was overjoyed to be there! My boyfriend was a little hesitant but ended up having so much fun and found it all to be so precious and interesting. The owner gave us freedom to explore the museum and gardens before joining up with us to explain the doll making process and giving history on some of the featured works. As an Inuit person, it was so amazing to see my culture represented across the world (visiting from Canada!). We cannot recommend this place more, the owner is so kind and so passionate about what he does. 10/10 experience!!!

I recently visited the ARTlandya and had an absolutely delightful experience. This museum is a hidden gem, showcasing a stunning collection of unique and beautiful dolls and teddies. The owner of the museum was exceptionally nice and friendly, adding a personal touch to the visit. They were more than willing to share fascinating stories and information about the collection, making the experience even more enriching. The variety and beauty of the dolls and teddies on display are truly impressive. I highly recommend visiting the ARTlandya. It’s a wonderful place to spend an afternoon, whether you’re a doll enthusiast or just looking for something unique to see. Definitely worth the visit
Laura C — Google review
The dolls on display here are incredible works of art. George was very accommodating with the explanations for how different pieces are made, and the variety of materials. These dolls, bears and toys are artworks, displayed with clear care and reverence, and some of the works are truly incredible. Our favourites were the papier mache dolls (pictured), and the stunning Queen of the Fairies. We will certainly visit again if we return to Tenerife!
Alex H — Google review
We visited ARTlandya museum and had a great time. The work involved in the making of the dolls was fascinating. George the proprietor is a really nice guy and took the time to walk around with us and explain the history behind some of the rarer ones. He then took the time to show us how the dolls were made. The collections are housed in two lovely fincas and surrounded by lovely gardens.
Bob R — Google review
When thinking about Tenerife, art and museums do not make it the top of the list. But #ARTlandya, a beautiful museum of contemporary dollart and Designer Teddies from around the world and throughout the ages, it is worth visiting. The rain could not stop us from enjoying the old finca, surrounded by exotic gardens. The Austrian owners offer a guided tour and we were very excited to learn how porcelain dolls are made.

Yesterday we visited the museum and were very exited .The place is easy to find, actually we used Google Maps and I stop in front of the Museum. It is highly recommended specially for families with kids. The Museum is the only one of a kind in all of the Europe and the dolls are kind of pure art. I am 67 years old and could never believe I could spend that time there, but 3 hours just slide away and all of us were very happy to be there and to enjoy the company of the landlord George, who told us the process of making dolls and it was wonderful experience.By the way the place is surrounded with great gardens of flowers and the air is fresh and smells fantastic.I highly recommend the ArtLandya to anyone, despite the age, to go and visit it.It is worth any minute, spend there

(Translated by Google) The historic center of Icod de los Vinos is compact and very well preserved (it has been declared an Asset of Cultural Interest). Its history begins at the end of the 15th century with the first constructions. It expanded as the needs increased. The sound of the water from the fountain in Plaza de la Pila will hypnotize you. If you sit on one of its benches, in the shade of the trees, you won't notice the time passing. When visiting the center of this village, don't forget to include in your itinerary the Matriz de San Marcos Church, the Plaza Andrés de Lorenzo Cáceres, the Convent of San Francisco or the Emeterio Gutiérrez Albelo House Museum, among the obligatory stops. Families will appreciate the playground for children, while adults can unwind at a cozy café serving light meals and refreshing smoothies or natural juices.

The Drago de Icod de los Vinos is a massive, ancient dracaena tree that has become an iconic symbol of Tenerife. Estimated to be around 1,000 years old, it can be admired from Marco Square or visited up close at the Parque del Drago Gardens. While there may be an entrance fee to the park, some visitors have reported free entry during certain times.
Brilliant experience. Sometimes, the simple things in life are the best. However, a tree that is estimated to be between 1000 and 2000 years old is nothing short of impressive. The trip is combined with a 40-minute plus walk round the adjacent botanical gardens, which showcases the best of the endemic flora varieties Within the botanical gardens is a small lava tunnel cave that you can spend a few minutes in. I won't spoil the surprise, but there is a feature inside that you wouldn't expect to see even in a lava tube tunnel cave. 10/10 rating, in my opinion, for both value for money and enjoyability. Thank you to the staff at the experience who helped make it a perfect trip.

We thought we were just going to see a tree! (It is impressive) This a lovely park with walking paths, educational signs about plants & wildlife, benches to sit and enjoy. Decent restrooms. Highly recommended exploring. Wear good shoes. There is a cafe (we didn’t try because we ate on the plaza) but it looked very good.

Lovely little park to wander round and the tree is fascinating. It's also a lovely town to enjoy a piece of traditional local life away from some of the the major tourist hot-spot. Very pretty.

A beautiful, normal garden, with special trees and one that is a thousand years old where you need a ticket to enter right next to it, but it can also be seen very well from the park with the blue wall. There There were also some free bathrooms, very large and fairly cheap underground parking. The road to the tree is also very beautiful, and we can see how the mountains block the clouds to the south or north-east area. And we can see the vegetation much more defined than the southern area with the beaches.

A very old tree 700-1000 years old situated in the a little park. The sounding town centre is beautiful too. Ready for their festival season

One of the stops on an Island Tour. You can go into the gardens for a closer look, but you have to pay. Alternatively, go up the steps to the church and walk to the right and you get great views of this iconic tree

The oldest dragon tree in Tenerife, the Drago Milenario, is located in the middle of Parque del Drago, a beautifully landscaped botanical garden in Icod de Los Vinos. If you’re arriving by car, the best place to park is in the Parking Del Drago garage, which is within walking distance of Parque del Drago. Tickets for Parque del Drago can also be purchased next to the parking garage, right along the walkway to the park. To see the approximately 400-year-old Drago Milenario, it’s not strictly necessary to enter Parque del Drago – it can also be viewed from the Iglesia de San Agustín. However, a visit to Parque del Drago is worthwhile, as there are many beautiful plants to admire and quiet spots to relax. The park also features a small accessible cave, which offers a pleasant change of scenery from the surrounding flora. Together with the charming old town of Icod de Los Vinos, it makes for a rewarding excursion of 2–3 hours.

When we went, the famous Dragon tree was being under maintenance, which kinda ruined the experience but other than that the place is really nice and definitely worth visiting! There are many types of plants, lizards along the way, even a cave - so plenty to do for a 1-2 hour visit. Entrance for students is around 3 euros.

We just visited Drago Parque in Icod de los Vinos, and it was absolutely spectacular! Walking through the gardens surrounded by all that greenery was beautiful, and of course, seeing the famous Drago tree was amazing. We finished off with coffee and cake at Casa Drago, which is part of the experience and really worth it. Definitely a place well worth visiting!

Nice little botanical gardens with the centrepiece dragon tree, which will not disappoint nature lovers. Winding pathways lead you around showing you different parts of Canarian nature, cacti, flora, herbs and trees with birds and lizards living amongst it. There is also a cave to wander around. Very fair admission price of 5 euro's per person. A great place to wander around for an hour in a traditional Canarian village.
